Speedkore's Evolution Charger - Jay Leno’s Garage

May 31, 2021
I find it funny. I have a Dodge Challenger and it has that in there, it's like you're churning butter. through funny, very well done, obviously has air and everything else. I saw the heater working which is good because it's really cold today yeah rest so what brembos I'm Brembo yeah really good brake package and it's on the wheels a big sponsor of ours really happy . to work with them, let's open the hood, yeah, and see, it's so funny, I couldn't really see the turn signals here on the hood until you put them on. I had to go, oh, there they are.

I could probably sit a little lower on the floor. Yes, it is a little lower. Can we open it? You have to put it inside. No, here and I love that it's a demon, not a Hellcat engine, that makes me laugh. Okay,

evolution

, who is that? So,

evolution

is the name of the car. and it's basically the design approach that we take, instead of being some kind of old hot rod philosophy where you buy a metal car, you cut it up and do all this stuff to it, you know, we have molds made so that each piece is carbon, no bondo, no rust, no dent, everything is fine and evolution is the approach we took where we were.

More Interesting Facts About,

A lot of things were 3D printed, so this air intake here is 3D printed. Oh, okay, yeah, and then little bands like this are 3D printed. This was all done in CAD. We design it. Mechanized molds. I'm sorry. Machine plugs made molds and then manufactured parts. From there, all the other 7d

charger

s that we will do in the future we already have all this done and it is repeatable with a scalable model and these are what water, oil, yes, and then the super

charger

for the coolant for the supercharger, it is well and it's really good. so it has a nice effect, you'll see this kind of chevron look going through the tunnel and across the grill, so even the grill is carbon fiber, but the embedded mesh is actually a billet of aluminum.

I know it sounds like one of those pieces of information. it doesn't rust it doesn't dent it's not that amazing the awesome charger crashes into a wall no problem and it's easy to fix you just have to do another easy to fix and I love how clean it is here it just looks like you just set up the motor right there, you know, using some of the front wheel drive Hellcat stuff and the uh black demon itself was really good how about a front wheel drive? What do you mean? Because the devil has electric power steering so we have to take the front wheel drive system for the power steering I love the way I love the shock towers down there the shock mount more like oh yeah yeah very good and these here, do you guys do these? uh, we got them from our friends, brothers, yeah, yeah, guys, they look. like the ring brothers yeah yeah I love these guys they're really cool yeah we've used them on everything we've done so far and uh yeah it's cool it's a great hood hinge why and I like it because it still looks like a Dodge. charger, so it will be timeless, you know, in 20 years it will still look like that, very good, and it's not flared, it doesn't have, you know, anything flashy, you know, rockers or side effects, no, it's a little bit lower, but That's it, yeah, now let's see what the trunk looks like.

Can we turn the back? Let's look at a key. Yes, how retro. Keeping that in the hood gauges is kind of a so-so approach. Everything is well finished. Yes Yes. We kept the exposed carbon fiber weave on the B side right, and then Gabe's custom upholstery, there's something underneath, yeah, so all the stereo stuff, oh yeah, and it keeps it all integrated, so basically all that's there is a fuel cell with a stereo base, yeah, and then everything, um, for the lips and everything else you can get. everything, yeah, you're probably in on it, right, yeah, whatever, basket boy, you're an old Italian lady and I haven't heard the word basket in a long time, yeah, well, it's like a word, it's like basket, yeah, uh , so, yes, Gabe is in the upholstery and he did very well. stitch and you'll see on all the roll bars and everything on the whole car and you're going to build these bodies right so we have a lot of people who want to make 70 chargers and now finding donors is almost impossible at that point. the amount of work and the rust and everything else so we can do a body in about a week and a half for this and you actually get a better car at the end of the day, okay, you can clean it, you can paint it.
You can do whatever you want and then you're always going to make a customer to make any of these panels fit on an original '70, '68, '69 or '70 Challenger, just bolt it on, so you're going to attach it with 3m structural adhesive, right? Yeah, and it's stronger than welding it because you get more surface structure, yeah, yeah, and the taillights are, uh, we kept them, uh, like the original ones, I remember in the tantrum, we used a Challenger setup, this one looked really cool. well like a 70. So everything. What we did was enhance it with the gaps and then we made the exhaust go through the valance, so instead of showing under the valance and they just had a rectangle effect, you know, this is a little nicer and nicer.
The thing is, use a Hellcat or Challenger engine, your mission meets the requirements and all of that is problem-free, and now they make a great plug-and-play package with wiring harness and ecu, yes, you get it directly from Mopar, yes , it is really lightweight for most people. I don't understand that you really have to hit it because it's lighter and we had it at SEMA this year, give it a hit, yeah, give it a hug, there you go, yeah, you won't dent it and then this year at SEMA it was well received, but a lot people didn't quite understand the concept that carbon fiber you know what it takes to make it yeah so it was good a lot of people always think it's a wrap or it's correct hydrography and nice people.
I just don't understand carbon yet, but it really is the future of car building, especially, you know, in professional touring and even in the European market, so there's no filler and you know everything has really good tolerances and it's 40 000. all the panels so you use a 70's charger frame to start with yeah so we used the b side for the windows and then the b side of the a pillars in a couple of pieces. Oh cool, it's always A, so it's still a 70, yes legally. and you start with a base that's great, that's great, it's just so nice and it rides so well and handles so well.
I was very impressed and those tires are huge, they would just rip and drop like it was nothing, yes 345, yes yes Michelin brands. Good to see, those two hitmen could have taken a bullet in two seconds with this car instead of that big old thing they had, yeah, they would have wiped them out and then made off with gambling or something, yeah, pretty cool, Dave, thank you very much. Be here, see you, yes, thank you, yes, we have to have, I'll have to make a carbon fiber Stanley steamer or something, here we go, that would be fascinating, a carbon fiber steam car, yes, carbon fiber steam car carbon fiber, guys, see you. guys next week laugh
