Jun 03, 2021
Hello everyone welcome back to unicorn dust designs, I'm Sammy and today we are going to work on some

romantic

DIYs, like I said these will be DIYs that will transition seamlessly into the spring season, so with that being said let's move on and let's get into the DIY today, alright, today we're going to start with some books from Dollar Tree, if you saw one of my latest releases, I bought these recently and they are absolutely beautiful, I can't for the life of me tear up books and So some of my Subscribers suggested that the covers of these books be turned upside down, so here I just turn them upside down and then fold those edges over so it fits the book a little more easily. then we're going to put this back into the book this way, we don't have to paint the actual book, we don't have to tear out pages or bindings and you get a blank, clear canvas to work on, so I did this with The Three Tree Books from the dollar they made sure they were tight and now we're going to take this one that's blush pink from Rust-oleum.

I don't know why I have such a big can of this color, but I do and we're going to use it a lot for these

romantic

DIYs, so I'm just applying it with a brush and this went on these covers so smoothly, oh my gosh, it was so easy, so I painted the front and the side and then I'm going to take my heat gun and dry that first and then we'll go ahead and turn our book over to the opposite side and paint that one too. so for the next book I'm going to go ahead and get these little ones, they're like those bubble stickers you can get at Dollar Tree and I wanted to make a little design, there's no rhyme or reason to what I was doing.

I just wanted to put a little detail into the binding of this book, so I'll go ahead and play with this. Have fun. They could even use rhinestones, whatever it is. Then I bought cashew. by waverly I'm going to go ahead and paint this book too and this color is perfect if you're going for a vintage vibe and that's exactly what I was going for romantic, you'll hear me say that, a million. times so I need to make sure we get between all those hits, none of them jumped, they were there just fine and we're going to move on, grab the heat gun and turn it over, you're done with that. one, so now let's move on to the third book.

I didn't want the cashew and I didn't want the same pink so I mixed the two and oh my goodness it gave me this beautiful dusty rose like a movie. color, I don't know, it turned out so good, I was really happy with the color, so now we're going to start

decor

ating our books, okay, so I'm going to use doilies. You can get them at Dollar Tree. You could even use real ones. and that would look awesome too and I'm just taking Waverly wax for vintage Waverly wax and I'm just brushing it on. I'm making sure not to over-saturate this paper.

I don't want it to become soft. I'm here so we're going to use a light coat and we're going to make sure we blend it in and this is going to allow you to see all of those beautiful details in that mat so now I'm going to take my friend my giant glue stick from Dollar Tree and we're going to use this to attach our mat and it worked so well I didn't want to waste time with the mod podge. I didn't want a shiny texture on my books so the glue stick was amazing and this just added. the right amount of detail we needed and I apologize for my lighting.
I am gaining new enlightenment. I promise you it looks very dark. Well, now let's take these. What are these rhinestone stickers? Unfamiliar Bead Stickers from Dollar Tree. oh, hanker hank or doodle and we're going to apply these to the binding. Now I played with these because I'm sorry you guys saw my big forehead. I played with these because at first I scaled them so that We weren't covering the entire binding, but you'll see I end up going back because I'm going to do this on the top and bottom of our book and I go back and add a little bit more to the sides because it looked very out of place geez that forehead okay so after you're done with those stickers we're going to get these wooden sticker cutouts from Dollar Tree and I'm using the Waverly antique wax now I'm going to take the um why ?
I'm leaving out what's called arteza mica powder and this is in rose pink and I just wanted to add as a little judge a little bit of sparkle to this book so I rubbed it in the wet antique wax and now? I'm going to apply this to the top and bottom. Now this is where I thought, "Oh my God, this book is going so wrong. It didn't look the way I wanted it to, but everything fits together and now that book." With the mat I got this napkin ring from uh dazzle.com totallydazzle.com and I just took off the ring and applied it there.
Now we are putting together our books and this is where the one that I didn't think was going to come out came out. well it worked because it was kind of a blank canvas so it allowed me to play with this rose in place and with the rose that I took why I have old wax and I basically wore it down so it almost looks like this. rose that is about to wither, you know, it has those little brown tints on the petals and I can't wait to show you how it turned out, look how beautiful and you guessed it, they look romantic and you all can transition to Easter.
They are so easy and are simply stunning. I mean, there's a lot of detail in them and you can really make them however you want. I hope you enjoy the first DIY. I'm very excited to show you the rest. I'm sure you saw the thumbnail and seriously, everything turned out so beautifully, it turned out much better than I expected and I'm so excited to show you the rest again. I'll DIY romantic and when I say romantic I'm like soft pinks and creams and things that are going to easily transition into the spring season, you know, like Easter colors, you can do some turquoise and some purples with them later so that so you can get a lot of use out of these DIYs.
I also want to point out that I am collaborating today with Daniel Lita. I sounded very elegant saying that she is a lovely, adorable person, she has a heart of gold and her content is very funny. She makes cocktails. which I love, so she does some DIY and breaks away from her for a moment, she'll show you how to make a cocktail and then she'll get back to DIY her. I think it's so new, so fresh, definitely check it out. I'm going to leave her channel in her description box to show her some love. Let him know I sent you and with that, let's move on and get back to these romantic DIYs.
Bye everyone, okay, this is the next one. Guys, remember this wooden round, this is from a previous winter DIY video and this is an 18 inch wooden round. I buy them at Home Depot, they are a little scarce right now, you just have to be patient and hunt them down, that's why I'm repurposing this. one and I'm going to take a Rust-oleum linen and this is chalk paint and we're using a sponge roller to apply our paint now the reason I use a sponge roller is because if you used a brush it would add texture to your paint , so when you were going to place your stencil, that texture in return would give you bleed under your stencil, so this sponge gives you a nice smooth finish on your base color, so I just apply a coat of white.
I like that you can still see the wood grain there, so I'm taking antique wax and a chippy brush and I'm just going over this baby and distressing it, everyone knows I don't like pure white and for this romantic vintage feel, Lo What I was looking for really needed something more than just white, so after it's all dry we're going to use some painter's tape and it could be any painter's tape. This one I think is from Menards and we're going to go ahead and Create our lines so I'm going to go ahead and take one piece and this is going to be like our base here and then I'm going to go ahead and start stacking them using this smaller piece as my guide on the width .
I want it and keep the lines straight on my wood so I'm going to continue this all the way down as you can see and you guys this gives you perfect lines it looks amazing let me tell you okay so once we're. finished with that, I'm going to go back in with blush rose from rust-oleum blush pink sorry, blush pink and I'm going to go back in with a roller and when you guys, that's my I think it's called a paint dozer and I get it, administrative arts okay so when you're going to put it on top of a stencil or on top of painter's tape like this don't push down on the sponge when you push down on the sponge you're pushing that paint under your stencil under your painters. masking tape and you will get massive bleeds so make sure your sponge has enough paints on it so you can get it all right and you shouldn't be able to put pressure on that sponge so when I'm done with I reapply the first coat and do a second one because I missed a couple of points.
If I hadn't missed points, I probably would have been good with just one coat, so now after this I'm going to apply my heat gun, I recommend using a hair dryer in cold environments, so do as I say, don't what I do. I just couldn't find my dryer and now look at these clean crisp lines it's so beautiful I love wood browns okay so I'm going to go ahead and blow dry it I let it sit overnight and then I'm going to take my stencil that I created on my cameo and this is the uh 813 aura mask, vinyl stencil, it's great to put over a painted sign, so let's move on. and put that on and then guys I'm going to peel this back this is a vinyl easy transfer tape and this is all in my Amazon store link in the description box and then I get super professional and fancy with it and I stuck it with adhesive tape.
Out, basically, my garbage, but hey, I'm not wasting materials, but looking at this now, I'm like a girl, you're a mess, you're a mess, something good, you're not like teaching professional classes because yeah, you probably shouldn't do this . You probably shouldn't do it, but you know what works, it works well, so now I sprayed it with Rust-oleum metallic gold and let me tell you, the color looks so sophisticated that it doesn't look like a cheap gold. and it dries really fast so here we are, sorry I'm playing with the lighting so it's so terrible, sorry guys I should have the lights in mid January I think it's okay boo she's beautiful, OK?
We are going to use polyacrylic. Polyacrylic is great for indoor use in high traffic areas, so if you use it as a tray, it's great. I put two coats on it, I only swatch one and just make sure it's a watery consistency. so you just need a little bit on your brush and make sure you cover everything because when it dries if you're missing a spot you'll definitely see it now when you apply it you'll get a little bit on the side make sure you go down the side and brush it like to the side that way you won't get cloudy gobs drying there and then that's it you're done and hello omg like I'm obsessed with this and the way I

decor

ated this dresser is awesome let me know if you're going to try recreate this because, well guys, real quick, I wanted to tell you about these Rose Forever New York roses, these are the 100 long lasting natural fresh roses. and they use natural oils to preserve their roses and let me tell you they were stunning and they come in tons of shades they come as round boxes square boxes and let me tell you they would be the perfect gift for Valentine's Day and I'm going to leave the link below because they are giving you 15 off your purchase with my link below and the code so definitely check them out and now I can't wait wait wait to tell you about daniel litha af so I'm collaborating. with her today, she is a newer youtuber, she has very eclectic and fun

diys

, she also does which i wish i would have thought to do cocktail crafts first, so she does her

diys

, breaks away, makes the cocktail and then comes back to your DIY so please make sure and go show your love guys the last one for today is one of the wood cutouts that I showed you on my most recent dollar tree tour and I'm going to go ahead and remove the stickers and then I will have to sand.
If these things are very rough make sure you check them before you buy them because this one had a big crack on the side and also had big flat dents on the side, I don't know what happened there so I tried sanding. I got it down as best I could, but it was rough, it was very rough, so we're just going to work with what we have good, so I tried to sand it down. You could get a sanding block on the dollar tree. Clean our workspace with our little one. Ladybug friend, I'm now taking Waverly cashew over and over again, all these romantic colors.
I'll probably use this same color concept in all the videos. If you want more videos like this, leave a heart emoji in the comments. So I know I need to make more of these Valentine's Day videos, so after it's dry I forget that I need a hole in this because it's going to be a bead garland, so I'm just going to take my drill and create a nice hole. so super clean, yeah, that's why, so we're going to go ahead and finish it, we're going to go ahead and let it dry and then we're going to move on to the next step, it'sOkay, then let's move on.
To grab our wooden stickers from the Dollar Tree and again we're going to grab the blush pink and these can be used like Waverly's ballerina pink. I mean, again, these are all, this is just inspiration. So do it, do the colors you like and enjoy them. This is definitely the color scheme I'm going to follow for Valentine's Day decor and we're going to go ahead and paint this little cutie and give it two coats of that. Now I'm taking this fabric lace, I don't know what I've had forever and I'm going to cut the similar scraps off the side and I'm going to go ahead and put it on top and then of course.
I, you know, being extra that I am, I thought, oh, maybe I could cut this out, put it on top and then I was like, no, you don't even know it's a heart that covers everything, oh, that would look cute, okay? anyway, we're going to put that on top of this heart and I'm folding it back so it's as tight as possible, then I'm going to use Waverly plaster and this is a great color because it's not completely white, but it's not, it's the perfect creamy color so I take my stencil brush and I just apply it on top of the dab dab day here and this is going to create a nice lacy like texture on our wooden heart.
I thought he was just adding that he needed something. Know. I couldn't leave it simple and this just gave me romantic vibes. Sure. Romantic. Romantic. I'm going to say them millions of times. So now we're going to go ahead and glue our hearts in the middle right here, it's so cute it's already coming together. Now we have to continue with our rhythms, so if everyone has seen my previous videos, I will usually put my beads in flowers. wire like I do here and I'll just go and hold it up and then I'll spray paint my beads and that makes it so much easier.
Well, I wanted to use my chalk paint colors, so I couldn't do that, so I'm stringing them together. my floral wire and you guys, I got on the bus, okay, the struggle bus was here, I got on it, I stayed there for a moment, you see, I'm trying to hold you up and I'm thinking this isn't working. Then they start coming off and I'm like, "Okay, girl, you gotta pull yourself together," which we know never happens, so I try to squeeze them in and then I start more like rubbing, which I actually really liked because it gave it chalk. paint like a texture almost like a stucco texture, does that make sense?
So I followed that throughout these beads and I think I used nine of these and I have the variety pack of beads listed in my Amazon store link below. so look at that and yeah let's finish this you don't want to see them do this for a million years okay so we're finishing this and then I'll take my biggest oh my gosh you guys this. It's really funny here so I'm watching this even when I was doing it I was laughing out loud so I hold them tight and then a pretty lady moment where she's trying to catch the snails and it just slips off my finger.
Oh my gosh I was laughing so hard so anyway this is the color of plaster that I'm making these larger wooden beads in and I'm only going to make two of them here and it's so weird because these wooden beads are almost like they were sucking on the chalk paint because once I got to the other side, the side I had just painted was already dry so I'm not mad about that at all, but yeah, I'll be grabbing more of this random fabric. Go ahead and cut strips with my Dollar Tree rotary blade, if you can find it, pick it up because it's actually really good, so I'm going to cut it on my little Arteza cutting mat here and then let's go.
I think I pulled out about four strips and then we're also going to take some dollar tree thread and we're going to create our tassel. Now I'm doing this the hard way so I'm wrapping this, I'm not wrapping it around my scraper yet and then I'm going to add one of the lace pieces and then I'm going to wrap it around so it's all interlocking so we're just going to continue going around until you get the thickness you want. This is where I'm wrong, which is why I normally would do it. tie around where I'm holding it first, but I thought I wouldn't be able to find the middle of this anymore.
I'm sorry if I'm not explaining it well, but I made it too complicated when I did it, but that's how it was. Like, oh my gosh, how am I going to explain this, but you guys have probably seen these a million times, okay, so this is when I tied it, we're going to cut the bottom loop, we're not going to remove it, but you know what I'm saying. half to get those little tassels and now I'm going to take another long strand of twine and I folded it in half so that I basically have two strands and then I'm just going to tie my tassel to this because I did it the hard way, so normally I wouldn't do it like this, okay, so moving on, I'm going to go ahead and take the two strips of twine and then I'm going to cover the ends with tape.
I'm going to roll that up here sorry I had to have a drink. My throat was itching. Now let's feed it. Oh man, he just drooled all over me. I'll be sorry guys, I'm a mess okay, so there we are. Come on, we're passing our beads through the thread. The good thing is that this is the end of the video and then we'll go ahead and tie two knots at the top of this so your beads don't slip away like they did to me. million times and then we'll just run the thread through our little wooden plate here and then I'll tie two knots in that and your wooden bead garland, your bead garlands, yeah, I think that'll be complete, thanks guys for staying With all my craziness, seriously, I really appreciate you guys because I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea, you know, but I'm someone's shot of whiskey and that's all that matters, okay, and look how beautiful. that turned out like I said it's soft it's elegant it's romantic you can wear it for Easter and spring too not just for Valentine's Day and I love it thank you all for being here with me today I appreciate you all and let's enjoy the mistakes let's try to make this I like how My girl does my hair, okay, just kidding, yeah, then you'll wipe off your makeup, okay, oh no, I always forget about this.
I feel like I'm the worst youtuber ever, you know, hey, if you're enjoying my content, hit the bell above and make sure to subscribe to my videos, okay, look, I said it, that's it, I mean, I did it much later, but it's done, if you're still here wherever the buttons are. press them, make sure the bell says everything and then, and then, you'll have your girl for life, okay guys, bye, that was good, I need some white crested strips, oh yeah, you need some white crested strips crest, don I don't see, okay, be demonetized here, okay, next
