AMAZING DOLLAR TREE VALENTINES DAY DIYS│ YOU'LL LOVE THESE CLEVER DOLLAR STORE HACKS

What's happening in the market, family, welcome back to my channel? So today for you I have a DIY Valentine's Day video. I know it's early, but let me tell you this. I keep repeating this like in all my videos. I feel like since this pandemic happened. People are born at home and they are decorating for everything and everything continues to sell out very quickly. I went to Michael's Hobby Lobby and Joe Fabrics after Christmas to try to see what you know on sale and there was nothing and I remember going last year. and there was still a bunch of stuff left that I ended up buying but this time there's nothing so I wanted to start my Valentine's Day crafts early so in case you're interested in making some of what I make you can find the items you need to recreate some of these things before they fly off the shelf for my Valentine's Day decor this year.

I really want to do a candy theme. I've always wanted to make a sweet type of Christmas

, I've never done it before. Especially with Cooper probably walking around next year not really knowing what's going on. I'm afraid he'll try to eat my

tree

, so I thought, let me do it for Valentine's Day. Instead, do a candy theme. You know, sugar candies for Valentine's Day. Wow, I first showed you how to make fake whipped cream last year during Christmas time 2019 and when I made that video there was no one really doing it in the Dollar Tree community and after that everyone is doing it now especially this one time, so I thought: what can I do?

That is different. That will stand out a little more, so I decided to make fake ice cream and it's very easy to make. He is so cute. I'll also show you some fake whipped ice cream. cream again, but a different way of doing it, um, than the other way I've been doing it, so I hope you enjoyed this video, let me know what your favorite DIY is in the comments below. Anyway, with that being said, let's start the video. We'll start by making some ice cream.

What you will get from Dollar Tree is some lightweight caulk and I actually tried that. To use a different speck that I bought at Home Depot and I prefer the

dollar

tree one, you also need a container to stir the putty in and I just recommend getting something other than a container that you use to put real food in. Get something you can use for crafting, so I ended up purchasing a two-pack of Betty Crocker storage containers. They were two for a

dollar

. Now go ahead and put your speck inside the container. Now I ended up using three containers of putty to make two. different ice creams and I was able to scoop seven scoops of ice cream from those two containers using what I considered a normal sized ice cream scoop.

It's actually a little bit bigger than small, but I think it's a normal size, so what I'm doing is distributing the putty. I put a little more into what is supposed to be my strawberry putty to change the color of the putty. I'm going to use paint. I'm using light. pink for the strawberry ice cream and you want to put a little more paint at a time then stir it and then if you think you need a little more paint add a little more paint and the reason why you want to do a little at little is because you don't want the putty to get too watery, if it gets too watery, it gets too diluted, it's going to be very difficult to scoop out the ice cream and get the texture you want and need if it's too watery, you scoop it out and then try to drop it in Your cup or bowl, whatever it is, will look like a speck, so you want it to be a creamy consistency, but make sure it's a little more creamy. like the texture of putty when you pour it into your bowl versus like it's super runny.

I ended up trying to practice making the ice cream before recording the video and used a different putty from Home Depot, it was dry and completely dry. deck putty and it was too soft for this so I really recommend getting the dollar tree stuff, it just worked a lot better for me and gave me more of the look I needed but I think that's because the dollar tree putty dollar is a little drier than the other one which was already super soft so when I tried to mix it and paint it it made it too soft and wouldn't hold up so maybe if you buy something else from Home Depot you should leave it. set a little and dry a little and then mix the paint to get the vanilla flavor.

I used apple barrel paint and antique parchment. The nice thing about them being small, like storage containers, food containers from Dollar Tree, they come with lids, so if you don't want to use the ice cream right away, you can wait a few days keeping it fresh. Okay, from the Dollar Tree. If you want to buy some glasses, bowls, whatever you want. I have different options. I really like this glass, so I'm just going to have mine. ice cream scoop by gluing it into the putty and basically treating this like real ice cream. I used a small spoon and also got it from Dollar Tree in a four pack to soften the ice cream on the bottom beforehand.

I put it in my cup and you can see it looks like vanilla ice cream, it's so pretty. I'm a big fan of fake food when I was younger, I always used to buy play food for Christmas and I still have some of that. because I always thought that if I ever had a kid I would save some of my toys and I saved some of my toy food, we'll see if Cooper ends up liking it, who knows, I added a lot of vanilla to this glass. tablespoons and then up to the top, I topped it off with a few tablespoons of strawberry and like I said, I was able to make seven tablespoons total with the putty, three containers of that putty, I'm sure maybe I could have gotten one more tablespoon, especially I did mix vanilla and strawberry, but to get the most comfortable amount, I guess what I knew I had was about seven tablespoons and I just filled them into this glass.

I'll show you how to embed the bottom in a few. so you don't have to use as many containers of putty if you don't want to, so now I want to make some hot chocolate. I'm using mod podge and apple barrel paint and melted chocolate, now I'm going to mix. the two together and the reason for the mod podge oh I forgot to mention that it should be shiny mod podge is to give the paint that shiny look and that shiny look that the thing will hold, I don't know the perfect ratio for this thing. Guys, at first I made a little more mod podge than paint and when I ended up spreading this on top of my ice cream, it came out too thick.

I wanted a thinner hot chocolate liquid line, but it just appeared. It came out too thick like I said so I ended up trying to mix more paint and then at that point it took away from the shiny look of the mod podge so guess what, I don't know the perfect ratio for this so I just want to play with it until you get something you like. What I think might work is to pour the paint on top of the ice cream and then go over it with a brush and a little bit of modification to give the paint a shine.

Look, maybe that could work either way, it still looks good, I just didn't know the perfect proportion for the next step. I'm going to grab some fake cherries I bought on Amazon. Sometimes convenience for me is much better than trying. make something and I didn't want to make a bunch of cherries using clay and I knew I wasn't going to get the same look and I would have had to buy something else to make them shiny so no I bought them like 24 5.99 worth it for me not to have I have to make a lot of cherries and it's probably cheaper for me to buy them than to have to make them all anyway that's how this particular ice cream came out, this one was my favorite actually All of them I think are very cute, but now I'll show you how making some smoothies and how to cover the bottom of your cups, so again you want to get some cups from Dollar Tree.

These are the ones I found of that type. They look like sunglasses. I couldn't find any that didn't have a handle next to it, but they all work totally fine, so what you want to do is grab your paints again. I'm using the light pink paint. of the apple barrel and the old parchment paint from the apple barrel and you are going to paint the inside of your glass with the paint, so instead of having to make a bunch of balls on the bottom with the putty, you are painting the bottom so I don't see that there really are no balls at the bottom of your glass.

You'll have to apply several coats of paint, especially if you're using the paint I'm using in my video, here's what it looks like. It went opaque transparent right away but that wasn't the case once it dried, it was transparent so you have to apply a couple of coats to get that opaque look. Now it's time to simulate the bottom with what I'm using to simulate it. Above are Styrofoam balls from Dollar Tree. At first I thought the three pack would work better. They are a little larger than the four pack, but the balls in the four pack ended up working better.

You can see the biggest one. I try to stick it there. and it just wouldn't go down so I chose the smaller version of those two scoops and I ended up putting two of them inside this glass and then I started adding the ice cream so that way I wouldn't have to put as many scoops of ice cream inside the glass because I painted the bottom and you can't see it and then I covered it with Styrofoam balls. Now you can see here that my ice cream was falling and it looks a lot smoother. because I actually filmed this before I filmed the beginning of this video and I was using that speck that I told you about, which was too creamy and you can see if it's too runny or too creamy, it'll just collapse. ice cream scoops, so I recommend going the dollar tree route, so since I was making this and I couldn't undo it, I just made the top look like a smooth type of ice cream shake and then I ended up covering it.

I took some vanilla ice cream out of it and it was made with the dollar putty in question with this glass too. I put the strawberry thing in there with the other putty and then it was too runny so I smoothed it out to make it look a little bit. a little more like a melted shake and then I topped it off with the dollar tree speck and it's much better, I mean like I said if you end up getting some putty from a different place and it's too soft I think the key is just let it harden a little and then use the paint to soften it enough instead of scooping it straight out of the container and then trying to mix the paint because it doesn't work that way if you fiddle with the bottom of your glasses.

By painting them and then adding something else to fill the bottom, they don't have to be Styrofoam balls, but if you put something else on the bottom, you will have many more balls of putty left over for different glasses, so I made this vanilla one. I made a few others off camera and then decided to make some chocolate ice creams, so I just used apple barrel paint and milk chocolate to get the color I wanted. Sorry, you can hear Cooper in the background, but that's what. Is he just making noises right now? I want to decorate some of my Dollar Tree milkshakes.

You can pick up the cake decorating kit from him. It comes with a piping bag and then different cake frosting tips and what you're going to do is put. your putty inside that piping bag now I have different piping bags and I'm going to use those instead just because okay, I'm weird, I don't like the texture of what the dollar tree one actually feels like. It makes me cringe so I'm just using these. I bought them for two dollars and 48 cents per pack of 15 at Walmart. I cut the tip off the bag and then I pushed the cake decorating tip through that piping bag and if you're using the dollar tree you just twist it over what's on the front anyway and go ahead and put your putty on. the bag.

In this battle, I just mixed in a little bit of white because I wanted to. to make it look a little whiter, the dollar tree one is white, but it's not the kind of white I wanted for my whipped cream, so I go ahead and put it on the top of my shake, the tip I'm using according to google it's a closed star point, so that's the shape of it, there are different ones, um, I think that's the one I'm using, but I'm leaving google, so don't yell at me if I have the name already you know.

Anyway, the tip is wrong, now I'm going to take some straws that I bought from the Dollar Tree, I'm going to cut one off and then I'm going to run it through that soft putty because at this point the rest of the ice cream and everything has already hardened, so I'm going to I went through the putty. I did the exact same thing with this one.smoothie. I added some whipped cream, a cherry and then a straw, nothing too fancy about these for the next smoothie I'm making. I finished. using a piece of styrofoam that I cut in half and place before putting on my whipped cream just so I have something to simulate to decorate the shake.

I'm going to use sprinkles now, here's the thing: if you use real sprinkles like edible ones, like I did, they're going to bleed into the putty, which means the dye from the putty will spread throughout the putty, so that's how it started. turn pink only once it started to dry and I did it because it's easier for me and too time consuming to I will try to make clay sprinkles, if you want to learn how I made them I will link them below for you. I've done it before, but it takes too long backwards, so I used real sparkles on all my lenses.

I decided to add the cute smiley faces that I bought on etsy. I showed you guys before in a tutorial. I'll link it below for you. I think I paid. I do not remember. Suddenly, I think they were on sale for two dollars and fifty cents for them. The full price is like four dollars and I used my cricut to cut it out. You don't need a qriket. You can print it on a regular sheet of paper. Cut it out. with a pair of scissors and then stick them on your glasses but I went ahead and did that to all my glasses and they look so cute I wanted a version of what I made for Christmas for Valentine's Day and I

love

the way they all It's out now here's another idea for making smoothies get a dollar tree candle.

I was able to find these that look like milk glasses. You can get just the regular candles that are inside the glass and all you have to do is take your putty, make that whole whipped cream, look at the top, add the straw sprinkles if you want and it ends up looking like a milkshake too, it looks incredibly cute and this one is easy to make if you want to make it like a regular vanilla look and you don't want to sit there painting the inside of your glass or handling it. This will only cost you like two dollars if you just buy the candle and then add the putty, but it will cost you a couple dollars more, but it's still inexpensive and you don't have to sit there painting the inside of your glass.

You can also make different colors by simply purchasing different colored candles. I'm going to make some faux whipped cream toppers. You've seen me do this before on my channel, but in the past I used putty, not putty, and I avoided using putty before just because I thought it would be easier. use putty and i made it that way it's very easy to use putty and the look is more like fake whipped cream so i recommend using putty so i took my putty and mixed in some of that light pinkish pink because i wanted a color very Look at my light pink whipped cream.

Now I took a Styrofoam ball, cut it in half, put it on some plastic and then started putting the fake whipped cream, which is just the putty that you want to cover up in the center of this so that you're not just using putty and starts collapsing on itself when I first made fake whipped cream. I didn't manipulate anything and I just used putty and it started collapsing so you have to make sure it just has something so it doesn't collapse and also it dries faster which is good so I stuck with this very very light pink color nice, I went ahead and added my sprinkles and because I made it pink when the um, the sprinkles bleed into this, it's not very noticeable, it looks like there's more sprinkles.

Next I bought these little cake toppers cupcake picks from Michaels, they are tiny like fake roses, I went ahead and cut the toothpick off them. and I put it inside my fake dollar whipped cream tree, I didn't have anything I could use for this. They have flowers, but they're not that small, so I ended up going to Michaels and paid about two dollars for them. Using a coupon, once I had the roses in place, I ended up adding some heart confetti to this and placed them one by one. I didn't want to throw it over there.

I wanted them to be positioned like this. perfect stitches, so I went ahead and added them with my hand like this. I really

love

the way this one came out so I decided to make another one and this one was going to be white so I just used white caulk. Go forward. My styrofoam piece down and then I keep getting the putty out and to this I added the conversation hearts and I got them from Dollar Tree again. I'm using something you can actually eat if you don't want to do this like I said you can do all the things with clay, it just takes longer and I don't have time to make things with clay and then wait for them to dry and all that, so I did it the easy way and I used the talk about hearts, these don't bleed as much because I think it's because they're just bigger so if they're bleeding, they're bleeding behind and you can't see it.

I wanted to share with you this I made this one and it ended up being my favorite so I took my putty, made my little fake whipped cream, added the cherry and then got this fake chocolate chunk from Dollar Tree. It's in the children's section with the children's toys. It comes with a bunch of other fake desserts and I go ahead and cut it at an angle and stick it inside my whipped cream, then I decided to add my fake fudge. I started pouring it at first but it ended up smearing all over my cherry so I had to remove the cherry and then continue pouring the fake fudge once I was done I put the cherry back in and that's how this one came out and it ended up being my favorite .

I think it's very cute, that's how it's done. faux whipped cream toppers using caulk and I prefer doing it this way instead of the caulking I've been doing, I really like the way it looks and it's so fun to do it guys, it's like using royal icing even though you're not at all, now we're going to make ice cream out of ice cream cones, so at Dollar Tree you want to pick up some of their fake food in the kids section and there's little fake ice creams in there and fake cones. You use the small cones and all you do is take the putty and run it through the fake cone and then just create a smooth look for the ice cream.

It's actually very easy to make and you can make lots of small cones. small of these that are perfect for tear trays or just small fillers to decorate different areas of your home. I decided to make the ice cream without any topping. When I finished making the ice cream, I realized that the lids never came off. the way I wanted them to look, so I just used my hands to get a finer point. I was just using my fingers to highlight that point. It is really very easy to make putty, you can easily manipulate it with your fingers on those toy desserts.

In the packages there are fake cones, but two different ones, one of the wafer type and then the sugar type, so this one is like the sugar cone, so I used those too, but they have a point at the bottom, so they are difficult to simply. stand up straight while you wait for the putty to dry so I just use something to create a hole and hold the cone up while I scooped out the putty and waited for it to dry and what I used was like a cupcake glass or something like that, I don't know what it's called, I bought it at Dollar Tree, it came in a 12 pack along with these.

I wanted to make some mini one scoop ice creams, so you just want to get one of those dollar tree cups, like I said, it's like little ice cream cups, little tiny cups that I don't know what they're called, honestly it just says like cups. containers in the packaging and you just want to add a scoop of ice cream and then you can top it off with whipped cream and hot cherry fudge, whatever you want, you can just make a scoop of ice cream, but it's another little way to make the ice cream and They are perfect, like I said, as tear trays to fill in the spaces you need. inside your house you now have miniature ice cream cones and miniature one scoop sundaes that you can use as a charm for tearjerker exchanges, that's what I'm going to use vines for now, let's make some cupcakes that I really wanted to make. some cupcakes because I bought some fake ones and I thought, oh, I want to try to make them using Dollar Tree products, so from Dollar Tree you want to buy some cupcake liners to be like the baking pans, the only ones I could find. at Dollar Tree they are cake so I'll end up using the pink ones and then in those toy packages with all the fake toy food there are donuts inside and it's two donuts that come in the package so if you want multiple cupcakes . you have to buy several packages and what I'm going to do is turn the donut over so that the back side can be seen, so what I do is I put a little bit of putty on the bottom of the cupcake pan and then I added the donut and I just needed the donut to have something to stick to and also add a little bit more height to it and then I just added some fake whipped cream to the top of the donut and then topped it off. with sprinkles I will say I used several cupcake liners for one cupcake just because cupcake liners are very thin and can be see through so I used a few for each cupcake I made you don't have to turn the donut over if you don't want to if you want make that fake hot chocolate look or that fake vanilla look, you can do it, but I was just trying to imitate what I had seen with the ones I had bought, these were cheap.

Making this also cost me three dollars to make two of them and then if you add the sprinkles, it's hard to say how much because I paid five dollars for the sprinkles for that big old thing and I have a lot left over, but the dollar tree. It has sprinkles, the sprinkles that they have are super super colorful and that's why I didn't choose the ones from the dollar tree because they were colorful and if I had sat there choosing the colors that I want, it takes me so long, believe me. I already did it before.

I did it in a video before. It takes a lot of time so it's easier for me to buy them and then have a lot left over and voila, now we have some cupcakes to add to everyone. nice decoration I'm making, I want to make more and I want to put an ornament on them because I'm thinking of making a tree for Valentine's Day this year and it's very difficult to find any of those pretty ornaments. Right now we are just making miniature plates and cups for some teardrop trays below. I did something similar before around Christmas time, so you're going to get one of these tea sets from Dollar Tree and if you want, you can go ahead and paint the.

The plates and cups I made, I went ahead and used my light pink paint to paint the cups and plates. I just like the way it looks better than that, like the purple color and that hot pink color after you've done this. I'm going to complete them using some miniatures I bought at Dollar Tree. I found these really cute macaroons and then I found some cupcake ones. All I do is place them on top of the plates, you can glue them if you want. but I didn't because I want to be able to change them if I want.

I also found little Sundays. I put them on top of one of the plates and then on to the little cups that come with this tea set. I keep going. and I put a little bit of putty on them, so I'm giving these cups little whipped cream looks and I did this around Christmas time. I made them and put faces on them, but this time I'm not going to make the faces. I'm just adding the whipped cream straw and then some heart confetti. I said it's really weird, but these are also cute to put inside tear trays, like I said, that's what I did over Christmas time with the ones I made. a tray of tears and they're sitting there, it's so cute.

Next, we are making dollar tree cookies. I picked up this air dry clay and what I did was I took the clay and I just crushed it with my hands. to flatten it and then I take a cookie cutter, I bought some heart shaped cookie cutters and started using the cookie cutters to cut the clay. I was able to make two large cookies and then three smaller cookies with the clay and even the small ones aren't super small or anything, it's just what I was able to make using the cookie cutters that I have, so you want to grab some water and you just want to at least smooth the top of the cookies, don't you.

They have to be perfect because honestly, cookies you know when you make them, it's not that they have a smooth, perfect texture, but you just want to soften it up a little bit. So I took a toothpick and I used it to write things on the clay with so I just put like kiss love hugs put whatever you want the letters didn't look perfect when I used a toothpick but again like I said they're cookies then I moved on and I took my putty and just created icing around the edges of For the cookies I used a little smaller icing tip.

I bought it for 99 cents at Michael's and it was just a smaller one and I just went ahead and scooped out all the putty around my cookies. It looks so cute I was trying different ways to do it at first but then I found the way I enjoyed doing it the most and ended up making it with all the cookies. Finally I took some white paint and just painted the inside of the letters that I made with a small toothpick, you can go ahead and paint your cookies if you want and I want to make another version of these where I make them look like conversation hearts,but I actually wanted to keep them this color for this video because I actually thought it looked cute, it reminds me of heart shaped gingerbread cookies, um, but whatever, you can do whatever you want for our next DIY.

You want one wooden dollar tree box and you want one where there are no spaces between them because there is another one they carry where every little piece of wood has a space through it, you don't want that one, so what are you going for? What you have to do is paint the sides and bottom of your box with whatever paint you want. I'm using that light pink paint that I've been using throughout this video and I just paint the whole box, wait for the paint to dry, then I take my putty and I start creating what looks like a ribbon, so basically what I'm going to do is like those farmhouse books, but instead I'm making them something sweet and using the putty to be the ribbon that people usually use to wrap books, so I take it out and create a bow using that speck on the top too , then I just wait for the putty to dry completely and then I just add my words you can use like white paint to do this a white paint pen you can use your cricut whatever you want it's up to you so I just put hugs kisses love and you can see it looks like the little farm books, but it's super cute and it has a whipped cream look and I keep saying cute in this video, but literally all of these things are so cute, how can you not like this?

How can you not think it's cute anyway? Next DIY I bought another wooden Dollar Tree box this time it's the flatter ones that look more like a tray and I painted it all pink once again, that's exactly what I'm going to do with pink, pink and more pink, this will be like a small closet or candy

. whatever you want to call it and I'm going to use the tray as the little shopping cupboard so I'm going to need candy for this and again you could make it with clay if you want the dollar tree takes clay.

It's not really the best and takes a long time to do. Instead, I went to Amazon and bought all these little charms that you can use for different things. People put them on their phones and put them on their shoes. I'll use them for something else but you can see I paid 12 for all of these and this is how much they came. There are different things, like lollipops, small like sugar sticks, uh, there are different shapes of lollipops, like hard candies, they're super super cute, inexpensive and. It comes with a bunch of them, I definitely think it's worth doing it this way and it just doesn't take as much time and I don't need patience for it, I just have to buy it compared to if I do it with the Clay, I need a lot of patience so now I'm grabbing these storage containers from Dollar Tree.

There are six in a package and I'm only going to put some of the candy inside, so mine came with some gummy bears that I filled. Make it with some gummy bears, the lollipops, the bigger ones, I glued them inside these storage containers, the lids of the storage containers have these little tabs and I ended up cutting them off because I didn't like the way they looked inside them . storage containers I tried to put some of the larger items I have that didn't fit inside these other small cups that you'll see me use in a second, they didn't fit in there so I put them inside the storage containers by placing some of the lollipops I had to cut the lollipop sticks in some of the containers I could only fit one lollipop inside some I could fit two you just want to play with it find out what works for you find out what he likes and I realized that putting a lollipop inside some of the containers was a good idea because then I had several containers with several lollipops instead of two with two lollipops inside each one.

I ended up using these glass containers. from Dollar Tree are the four pack ones so they are the biggest ones you can get because there is a four pack, a six pack and an eight pack to the bigger ones, I added the small ones like sugar sticks, candy sticks palette, I don't really know what they're called, but I put them inside the bigger containers, the bigger glass containers. If you go to Amazon or Etsy, you'll find a ton of mini candies and you'll go down this rabbit hole of lots of candies. and you'll want to buy them all, so I ended up buying more gummy bears, but these gummy bears have these little hooks on the top and you can twist them if you want.

I also bought them on Amazon. I'll try to remember everyone I bought from on Amazon in the description box below if I remember, sometimes I don't remember because as soon as I finish editing and saving the video I set it to load and leave it because I have go take care of Cooper because Matt takes care of him while I edit and film and then I have to take care of him as soon as he's done so he can finish his work anyway. I also bought sprinkles, these came like a 12 pack of different sprinkles and I put them inside the smallest containers that you can buy at Dollar Tree, it's like a pack of eight and they are very very small and let me tell you their glass because I ended up dropping it one and it broke. then I just put everything inside my little box and you can see it's like a little candy

, it's super cute, it goes great with everything, that's how it is for all these Valentine's Day candy and I say Valentine's Day another time because that will be the theme of my Valentine's Day decoration, it will be like a little candy store and all these things remind me of Valentine's Day so I hope you enjoyed the video, if you did make sure to give it a hit I like it.
