Ranking Every Nintendo Handheld

Jun 05, 2021
Nintendo has certainly had a handful of

handheld

devices, so let's go ahead and rank them. This is all based on how practical

handheld

devices are hardware wise and if they were good products during their release heyday I won't be including the Game Watch because they don't have cartridges unlike all these other systems so with that being said let's put it on 20th place. Virtual Boy, is anyone really surprised? Virtual Boy is Nintendo's worst handheld. It's hard to even classify it as a handheld because of how uncomfortable it is. Wear it, it's a big headset that sits on a stand that doesn't even have a head strap, which is the equivalent of glasses without earpieces, this design choice doesn't make any sense and to top it all off the graphics are absolutely horrible for the ones the virtual boy is infamous for.

His games are in red and black and also cause huge headaches for

every

one. What I can really say is that the virtual child appeared long before the technology was ready, about 15 to 20 years later, we have the 3ds, which actually has 3d in its games and of course, of course there is labo vr and many other headphones 19. pokemon mini here we have a small device that came out around the time when pokemon was blowing up and when tamagotchis were a big trend, it is the smallest handheld device that Nintendo has ever created and it only has a d-pad. with two buttons, you'd probably expect this to come included with the games, but there are actually cartridges that you insert into the back, but the library is smaller than the virtual guys and they're nothing more than Pokémon titles, but at the same time At least it won't tire your eyes.

More Interesting Facts About,

ranking every nintendo handheld...

Well, the games are nothing special, they are basically short mini-games with your favorite Pokémon. What's interesting to note is that it runs on just a AAA battery and some of these games are emulated for the Gamecube Pokémon channel. There's really nothing worthwhile about Pokémon. mini but definitely a neat and lovely piece of history 18. Gameboy I know this is a prized handheld considered an absolute classic and it definitely earns that credit. It was a huge step forward from the game, seeing it for the simple fact that they are games. It came in cartridges and let's not forget that it debuted with Tetris, one of the biggest puzzle games to this day, while running on four double batteries, they lasted quite a long time considering that the colors are only greenish and black, the game equipment and Atari Lynx had better graphics, but the batteries drained much faster and ended up being more of a downgrade for the Gameboy.

Its button selection replicates that of a nes controller and they still have a good grip and are really easy to use, however the screen is a bit on the floor. small side and there is no backlight, so you can only watch the games if you are under strong light. 17. Game Boy Pocket There is not much to add that has not already been said, as it is extremely similar to the original, the main difference. Being that it is a little smaller, a little lighter and uses one less battery, the screen is a little larger and eliminates the greenish screen and replaces it with completely black and white colors.

Interestingly, the first Game Boy Pocket model did not have an LED. shows battery life, but was added to future models after people complained about its absence. Nintendo did the same thing with their nes and snes 2 reviews. I'm not sure why this was a trend for them 16. Game Boy Light like the name implies it's Game Boy, but now with a backlit screen, for some reason , only came out in Japan, but the fact that you can see the screen more easily makes this the best version of Game Boys. It also retains the game's sleek design. boy pocket but it's a little bigger 15. game boy color this was actually my first

nintendo

system.
I remember buying it when I was six years old and the games I got were Super Mario Bros Deluxe and Pokémon Blue that Christmas I also got the worm. Light because for some reason Nintendo went back to not having a backlight on their screens, so I needed this to play at night when I wasn't supposed to drop the backlight. It's just disconcerting, but I think it's better than the Game Boy light because it's backwards compatible with all Game Boy games, the screen is also a little bigger and the games are obviously now in color and look much better , there are no new buttons or anything, but the outer casings are quite interesting since you can get Game Boy colors in many different colors and you can't forget about the Game Boy camera and printer taking pictures with the device so it was amazing at that time 14.
Game Boy Micro I always wonder why the micro has any reason to exist, but I am very glad that Nintendo, for some reason, decided to make a Game Boy as small as possible and then sell it afterwards when the DS came out. Tell me how that makes any sense, but look at this little guy who could resist a Gameboy Micro Nintendo even made the A and B buttons lowercase to emphasize the smallness of it. The main reason I've put this as the worst Game Boy Advance variant is that it eliminates the Gameboy's stronger future backwards compatibility.
That's right, you can't play Game Boy or Game. boy color games on this and let's be honest, it's too small to play comfortably for long periods of time 13. The Game Boy Advance was close to putting this handheld above or below the mic because this system does not have a backlit screen. but it can play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games, which makes it a little better for that reason and it's also a little more comfortable to hold. Also, this was the first Gameboy to include the rnl side buttons, the graphics were much sharper and the games.
They worked even better even though the cartridge was reduced in size, you could also use something called an e-reader which allowed you to scan cards to play or add content to other gba games. There was also a wireless adapter used to track Pokémon more smoothly. and you can't forget about the Game Boy Advance video where you can watch the entirety of Shrek 1 or Shrek 2 on the go, call me biased but it doesn't get any better than that 12. Game Boy Advance SP for a while, this was the game system Perfect fixed almost

every

flaw the original Game Boy Advance had, the biggest being reviving the backlight and keeping it for all future laptops.
The console was also more compact than folded, which helped prevent screen damage even at the smaller size. It could still play all your Game Boy Game Boy Color titles and, of course, Game Boy Advance. There was even an updated model that has an even brighter screen and, better yet, the system was rechargeable, so there was no need to change batteries anymore. My only complaint is the sp is that it removed the headphone jack, this is before Apple was famous for removing it from their iPhones, but luckily there is an adapter so you can fix that problem easily. 11.
Nintendo DS with a slogan like touching is good, you know? let's have a winner, the ds looks like a Game Boy Advance SP, but on steroids it has two screens and two extra buttons and the bottom screen can be touched with a stylus that fits perfectly on the back. There's even a microphone on this handheld and it has Wi-Fi Connectivity so you can play online games or message your friends with Piktochat and what's more, it's even compatible with advanced Gameboy titles, but nothing below that, sadly, it's really a hallmark of a handheld to include so many new features and I haven't even mentioned the games yet, now you can play full 3D games like Super Mario 64 DS Mario Kart DS Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks Animal Crossing Wild World and the list went on and on and on 10.
Nintendo DS Lite. here we have another ds but it's a lot sleeker looking and not as bulky as the original, it's also a little lighter, has a brighter screen, the stylus is a bit meteorite and it even comes with a blank gba slot to avoid the dust when you do it. I don't have a GBA game in it, so it's not really much different, it just looks a lot prettier. 9. Nintendo DSI and here is the next version of the DS family. There is no longer a GBA slot on the bottom, but we now have an even larger screen as well as two digital cameras and an SD card slot, the system also had an e-store for dsi games and was a bit more powerful than a dslight.
I think it's good to note that the cameras on the dsi are not very good as they are only 0.3 megapixels, but considering the resolution of the screens, I think it worked for what I needed to do 8.

nintendo

dsi xl, the name speaks for itself and really the two portable devices can be interchanged so you would prefer the screens to be much wider and the speakers can get a little louder and the battery life is slightly improved over the normal dsi , which is curious considering that there is more screen shown here, the pen is also longer and thicker, which makes it easier to get a good grip, but the dsi excel is also much larger, which makes it more easy It's more complicated to carry while traveling, so it's really all a matter of choosing which one you prefer. 7.
Nintendo 2ds, so this is one of those systems where you just think why the 2ds has always perplexed me with their decision to remove the ability to close the screens together, they also removed the 3D effects and marketed it primarily for kids, which seems backwards because the screen is more likely to get scratched by not being able to protect it, plus it has lower sound quality and stagnant battery life now. Despite all the dislikes I've talked about, it plays perfectly well and is still more powerful than any normal DS, seeing this system in this slate form, although it feels bad 6. new Nintendo 2DS XL, yes, the name it sounds immediately.
The language, isn't it? Here is Nintendo's latest 3DS system. It's the end of an era for the long-standing DS and 3DS family. They ended it with what is basically a new 3DS XL, but without the 3D effects, I'm not sure why anyone. I guess you'd need to have this if you're not interested in 3D but want to get the system for a really cheap price, but here's the strangest part: it came out in the summer of 2017, while this little console came out a couple of months earlier, but Even with all that said, this is still a fantastic system and has all the improvements besides the 3D aspect.
It's just strange that this exists. It reminds me of the whole Game Boy micro stage 5. Nintendo 3DS and now we're on the first iteration of the 3DS library, while it looks a little clunky on the outside, there's a lot going on inside, the graphics have been further improved, there's a new home button to help you travel from a game or application to the main screen and Of course, there is the 3D slider which adds a stylish 3D effect to games like Super Mario 3D Land or Mario Kart 7. Along with a directional pad is the circle pad which makes it more possible to move in 360 degrees.
Did I mention that? You can also play the entire DS catalog, there's also a ton of new software, like the new and improved eshop street pass and spot pass virtual console for game boy games, augmented reality and even a camera that can take 3D photos 4 .nintendo 3ds xl not only that this is a larger 3ds with larger screens, but the exterior design also has a much cleaner look. It's actually the largest screen on any Nintendo handheld outside of the Switch, but it's still a hybrid console. It could be interchanged with the original 3ds, but I've always done that. i found the xl to be a bit more comfortable to hold for long periods of time 3. new nintendo 3ds and here begins the absolutely horrible naming of the 3ds systems, the main difference here is the extra buttons that start with this gnarly c-stick and the zl. and the zr triggers on the back, these extra buttons aren't that intuitive for most games and don't feel the best to use, but it's nice that they're still there even though the new 3ds also has a better processor and allows games like Xenoblade Chronicles to carry over and hey, if you wanted to scan amiibo on your 3ds, now you don't need that NFC reader because the bottom of the handheld has the reader built in.
The only real drawback is the location of the microSD card. on the back cover and requires a screw to change or remove cards, but otherwise this thing has two new nintendo 3ds xl. What else do I need to add? It's a new nintendo 3ds, but it's extra large. The only thing I should mention is that it doesn't actually come with an AC adapter, which is crazy considering the charging port is proprietary, but at this point, if you're buying a handheld with such a ridiculous name, already you have the AC adapter, so it doesn't really matter. A lot 1.
Nintendo Switch, goodbye 3DS and hello Nintendo Switch. While this is technically a hybrid console, you can of course play itin laptop mode and that is an incredible feat because of how powerful this tablet's screen is in HD and plays triple a. The games are a blast and of course it has its downsides with its endless features on the almighty pro controller, but the simple fact that the Switch can play huge games like Super Mario Odyssey or Doom or Smash Bros Ultimate is a huge plus for all. handheld ever made and we're just getting started right now it has a virtual console library of nes games but in the future we'll probably get the snes gameboy n64 and the list could really go on and the switch has a pretty exciting life ahead of it. of himself and I'm ready to see what else he's going to throw on the table and before we wrap up I just wanted to thank Nintendo for allowing me to use all of their Gameboy and Nintendo systems for the video.
Yes, no problem. There you have it, I know people have their opinions in childhood with all these handhelds, so let me know which one is your favorite in the comments below, but with that being said, thank you all so much for looking and I hope you have a wonderful day until next time. time no no no no no no no no no no no no no no
