Pen Brands You Can Use with the Cricut Joy

Hello and welcome, I'm Angie from countrystreetcottage.net so today we are going to talk about qriket joy and the pens that you can use on this machine, so you may think that you can only use the

cricut

joy pens on the

cricut

joy because they are specially marked like qriket joy, but I have several pins that you can use inside this machine, some of them will use adapters, some won't, so let's dive into the pens and take a look at which ones you can use with your qriket joy. and spoiler alert, the regular Cricut pen is in my stack of pens that I was able to use on my qriket joy, so let's take a look, let's start with the pins that you can use without an adapter directly on your cricut joy, first let's look at the cricut. joy pens this is a cricut joy pen and then this is a regular cricut pen.

If I remove the caps, you can see that there is a big difference between the cricket joy on the left and the regular cricket pin on the right. Now we will do it. It covers how to use regular Cricut pins on your Cricut Joy, but I wanted to cover this difference first. Now let's take a look at the Cricut Joy itself and add the pen so you just open the clamp, remove that blade and then add the Cricut Joy. pen you just release it and it stops at the ridge and you close the clamp and then you can write anything that's a drawing line so I wrote with each of these pens on this piece of paper and that first line is this Cricut pen Joy that I have written in a font, it just needs to be a font that has a writing style to get this look so that the joy qriket pens work perfectly of course with cricut joy even without any adapter or anything like that but let's see some of the other pens and how you can make them work on your Joy without any adapter.

Let's say I wanted to write with this Sharpie fine tip marker, so it's just a regular Sharpie marker, so let's say I want to put it on my Joy. First of all, let's take a look at the comparison of the barrel to the pen on the Joy itself so you can see that the size of the barrel is quite similar, but if you put them both at the same distance, you might notice that the ridge for The joy marker is lower than the crest of the Sharpie marker, so what do we do to get this into our joy?

What I like to do is put them together like this and then mark where that ridge is for the joy marker anywhere. marker that I'm going to use, so now I know where to stop when I put this marker on my joy, so I'll stop when I have it. I actually like to put the line a little lower than the crest on the joy and cover that line. Above as I put it on the clamp of my Joy, so let's go to our Joy and put a Sharpie marker and I'll show you how to do it, so here's our Joy, here's a Sharpie and I've got that line marked and I can just put it where it is that line right inside the clamp, close the clamp and now I can write with that marker with my cricut joy.

The same goes for those writing fonts. This second line is actually written with this orange marker, so I would choose your fonts carefully when you're dealing with something like a marker that makes wide lines, but otherwise, immediately with your marker marker just make sure you mark how deep it is. you're going to put because if you put it all the way up to this ridge it would be too deep and it wouldn't really work so make sure you mark it so you're going to need some Cricut Joy pens at least one to mark these markers that we're using so now Let's move on to some more bookmarks.

So this is a Sharpie paint marker and I've done the same thing well so I marked on the barrel the depth that it's supposed to be and I can put it on that mark and I just cover the clamp and now I can use this. Right on my Cricut Joy again I wrote with it on this paper, which is the next one, which is the Sharpie paint, another pen that works without any adapter, it's the precise pilot and this one is actually just a pen so it clicks and so we can take. this one I put on until the lines covered up near that clamp and now we can write with that and I really love the lines of that pilot precise like they're super thin like ultra ultra fine and I really like that to write next.

It's crayola pic pip squeaks, so these are super small crayola markers. Yes, the Crayola markers we all know and love come in a big package and I'll link to all of these markers and pins below one more time so you know. I measured it and I put a mark on the pipsqueak and I'm going to put it until the pipsqueak is there until the line, close it and that's this purple line right here, so it says crayola pipsqueaks and that's the one I used for That's very easy to use all this without the need for an adapter.

Now let's talk about Tombow pens, so these might be your favorite pens. This is a double tipped Tombow, so it has one tip size on this side and one tip size on this side for this side. the thin tip I don't actually need an adapter so I marked it at the depth and I can put it at that depth close that clamp and that's the first tombow tip now for the second one I actually need an adapter so all These adapters I will link below and they are from the same etsy store so I am just going to remove this.

I'm going to remove the cap on the side of the brush tip and this is what our adapter looks like, so it's like a little piece of laser printed plastic and it's a full barrel here and it's like a half barrel here and you want to place it where the barrel is full and I like to mark the pen where it's supposed to go just like I did for the others and that way I know how far my adapter should go so I just push my adapter in there and then the adapter should go down to where the pen sits. part of the entire cylinder in the clamp and then you just close it and that's tombow. tip two, as you see here, I think you would need to play with the fonts on that one to see a good font to use with it because it is a brush tip, you might have to find a certain font or maybe a script font to use with the.

It didn't work very well with the source I chose, but it would probably work very well with a different source, so while we're on this adapter, this adapter is called the Sharpie adapter because it works with the Sharpie ultra-fine tip. So the Sharpie ultra fine and of course the Tombow as I just showed, but this is the Sharpie with ultra fine tip and they look a little bit like this once again. I held it up to the Cricut Joy marker and got a location just to check, but this one actually slides in there and goes right up to where I marked and then I can set it down and make sure it's facing down so the half cylinder portion goes inside the clamp , the full cylinder portion protrudes outside and is best placed. the half barrel back and then close the clamp and then you can write with that ultra fine marker right now.

I also find this one works great for Crayola super tips so I saw a lot of super tips online where people don't need an adapter but I can't get it if I put it in there without an adapter it doesn't even hold on so that the super tips I got I needed this adapter so I just put the adapter in and didn't stop like I was going to continue but I just held it right on my mark put it on the joy closed that clamp and then wrote with it just fine , so there are the super green Crayola tips.

I really liked the look, it's similar to However the pipes squeak and the pipsqueaks don't need any adapters but the super tips I was able to get like a huge 50 ton pack of different colors at a super cheap price so you can worth getting the adapter and getting the Super Tips, okay, so while we're talking about adapters, what you may have been waiting for is: can I use regular Cricut pens on my Cricut Joy? So here's my usual Cricut pen. There is an adapter to use this with the Cricut Joy. you just put that adapter in there, it goes up to the ridge on the normal pins, then you stick it up to that ridge, you close that clamp and you can use your regular Cricut pens that maybe you bought previously along with the Cricut Joy, so that's this green check here , which says regular Cricut pens and those are the Explorer pens and the Maker pens that you can now use in your joy, so they also sent me this one it's called a Cricut adapter and as you can see it has two full barrels and then it has a C cut out so you can tell them apart and they also sent me what they call their jelly pen adapter.

I don't have gelatin pens, I'm sure it works with gelatin. roll pens, but I had this Marvy Lip Hume, I guess that's how they say it. I really love this marker and I bookmarked it just to see if it would work with any of these adapters and found out that it worked with this jelly roll adapter. The jelly roll is the same as the first adapter we used except it has a g on it and I can put it on there. Well, that blue line there is Marvie Lapoom. I really liked this one and I think it's a font that was more. spacing, it would look really, really cool, so they didn't even have it listed, but I had it on hand and I tried it and it worked great.

Finally we have the Sakura microns. You may have used a micron pen before and they make an adapter. for those, it has an m, it looks like the adapter for Cricut pens, but it has an m, not a c, and then you just lock that pin in place, put the adapter on your joy until it's completely closed, close that. clamp and now you can use your micron pen on your joy um and that's the last one down there, so similar to the precise pilot that it didn't need an adapter, which I really liked, but if you're just addicted to your micron pens, that is what you would use for those pins now I couldn't get it to work these were just pens I had at home so the drawing of le pen I couldn't work with any of the adapters this is a prismacolor premier again I couldn't get it to work and then the la pen flex I couldn't get it to work either so it was three, I couldn't get to work and finally spoiler alert so this cricut adapter here they say it will work with any of the cricut pens Awesome Cricut pens, ink pens twists and fuses, but also works with Cricut accessories.

I'll make a video and try scoring on the Cricut Joy. Stay tuned for that so one thing I didn't cover in the video was infusible ink markers so you can. Get infusible ink in pen marker form for Cricut Joy to really say Cricut Joy on them. You can also get them just for the cricut explore or the maker and then you could use the same adapter for your cricut pens that you could use on. the infusible ink markers now I want to note that I will link to the artist spray markers below. The artist spray is sublimation ink just like the infusible ink and these will actually go into your cricut joy, usually no adapter required if I'm using my cricut joy and don't have the color I need like the joy infusible ink actually I only have black, I'll just take my art, which I have a bunch of colors of those, I'll put them in joy and again just look at that depth, but otherwise you can use the art sublimation markers on your qriket joy, no adapter required, If you have them you can definitely do it, grab some pens, grab some adapters, grab your cricut joy and start doing all those drawing projects now, which adapter you want to choose will depend on which pen you want to use.

You can collect the pins. you can pick up the pins that don't use the adapters, just remember to watch the depth of the pen as the Cricut Joy has that big ridge that helps stop the pen, whereas you have to do it manually for all the other pens we tested otherwise.
