CRICUT JOY CARDS : HOW TO WRITE TEXT INSIDE THE CARD!

Jun 07, 2021
Hi everyone, I'm Bethany and in this tutorial we're going to talk about cricket cheer

card

s and how we can take our

card

, open it and

write

inside, so many of you had some questions about how we

write

a cute little sentiment inside using the cricket joy pen and I think this is a really fun tutorial because if you're like me, I love fonts and I think it's a really great way to have your pen write everything for you, you can create a really fun font and it will just create a very polished mesh message inside, so if you missed my previous tutorial, we made cricket Joy

cards

from start to finish and I'll link them here.

We need a couple of cards and it has some cuts and some wear. of the actual pencil tool too and it was a really really fun little tutorial so go ahead and check it out but we're also going to make a cheer card from start to finish in this tutorial because I want to show you how you can make a whole card from start to finish with the feeling inside because you're actually going to start with the feeling, so there's going to be a specific order that you're going to want to do this now. I also want to say that.

More Interesting Facts About,

cricut joy cards how to write text inside the card...

There are probably many ways you can do this, but this is the way I found works for me, so I'm just going to share what works best for me. Feel free to modify the process to make it work for you if you find one. best way so it's awesome but I'm just sharing what I like to do for this tutorial and for this craft what you're going to need is the

cricut

joy and then the

cricut

card mat so this is a wonderful little mat to use only. To make cards you will also need their small inserted cards.

You can also pre-make them if you want, but the small package comes with all the cards already folded and ready to use. They also come with envelopes. and they come with little inserts that go behind the little design to appear through the little windows, so for this one I pulled out the pretty blush color and actually pre-cut my own little insert because if you saw my last tutorial with Cricut Joy cards I like to skip pre-made inserts and opt for a fun little pattern with scrapbook paper. It tells you the exact measurements of the inserts, so they measure four inches by five point two five inches, so you can just cut a little sighs insert and do it right, so you'll also need a scraper tool and the Cricket Joy pen, a spatula is useful and a weeding tool will also be useful, so what we'll do first is we're going to measure the card, so it actually tells you the measurement on the box, so the cards measure 4.25 by 5, 5, but so you know exactly what I'm measuring, I'm measuring to make it visual for you, so 4.25 by 5.5.

So what we're going to do first is not cut the design. First, we will first open the card and write inside before making our design. So what you will do is just open the card, fold it the other way and then you will place your card inside the little card mat, so now the card mat has a top layer and a bottom layer, it's like a little sleeve here, so what you do is slide this bottom layer underneath and then place the top layer right on top just like that, oh god, I forgot to read. I was going to say I lost it.
Hits very fast. Be sure to remove the small protective sheet. and keep it with you because once you're done using your mat, you'll put it back on top to protect that stickiness and hold it. Oh my god, I was a guy, I panicked a little, I thought there was no way I had lost that stickiness so quickly, so I'm folding it and now I have the inside of the card face up, so now what we're going to do is to jump into the Cricut design space and we're going to Write our little sentiment inside the card and then we'll come back and I'll show you how you can write it correctly and then what we'll do is work on the design and the outside of the card. let's jump into the Cricut design space, okay, so what we're going to do first in the Cricut design spaces we're going to go to the shape box and we're going to add a square and what we're going to do is we're just going to throw it away. up and we'll click unlock, so we'll use the measurements that we measured for our cards, the card measurements were 4.25 55.5, we'll just type that in and then we'll go ahead and make this blank. color so we can write on top of it and actually see it, so now what we're going to do is make this look like the inside of our card, so I'm going to help us size our writing that way we can get everything.
It's just the appropriate size and it's going to look great once we have it inside the card, so now what we're going to do is go to the

text

box and start adding our

text

, so one thing is really a good idea. is that when you go to your sources, what you're going to want to do is click on the filter button and then you're going to have to clear them for you, you're going to want to click. writing, so this will just help narrow down the fonts that are good candidates for writing with the pen, so if you're not sure what fonts to use when using the pen on your Cricut joy, these are good candidates, so it just helps if you add that filter so now I can search for sources because I know which one I'm going to use and it's called be mine and now what I'm going to do is start typing my text, so this is the complete one. feeling that I was going to put into mine, especially when we're all safe at home right now, it's just that sometimes I feel like I really miss my friends, so I'm really excited to see them and be able to just enjoy a simple coffee together one once everything calms down, so what I'm going to do now is line up and say Center that way, it just centers everything in the middle, it's very pleasing to the eye, so I'm going to reduce the size of this a little bit and then I'm going to drag it to my card okay so the size looks really good so now all I have to do is Society so what I'm going to do is retype the text message I'm going to type my name and I'll also add a little heart, so let me put my name here and then instead of saying love.
I'm just going to have a little heart and I'm going to go over here to the shapes, I'm going to add a heart and then what I'm going to do is I'm going to go to the line type and I'm going to say Drock, so now I'm going to draw that heart, so I'm going to reduce the size and drag it and I think it looks very silly. You could make it a little smaller and then place it a little more. Okay, that's what I'm going to put inside my card, so now what we're going to do is join them all together so they cut off or I'm sorry, I'm so used to it. to cut, but it will be a drawing, so we will put everything together so that they are drawn in this order and everything will be spaced like this, so we will go here and after we have clicked on our heart, our sentiment and then our signature.
We'll just say attach, okay, now they're all attached and now what we can do is hide this little rectangle so you don't want to delete it because what you want to do is save this project. I just saved mine and I called it a joy card because then every time you come in here your card is already premade and all you have to do is change your feeling so don't delete it just hide it but you'll be able to I want to hide it because you don't need to cut a rectangle or anything like that, so you don't need this anymore.
This was just for sizing purposes, but definitely save it, so now what we're going to do is go here. and make sure that joy is selected and we'll click and we'll do that now what we're going to do is tell you what we're going to do on the card mat so we'll click on that and we'll say done and Now what you're going to do to do is center your little sentiment inside the card, so remember your card doesn't go all the way down here, the card stops about 3/4 inch from the bottom, so it stops about. right here and you guys will see when you place your card on the card mat, so it's just time to look at the card mat as you do this, so you'll just drag it down, but you won't center it completely. so I'm going to drag it down a little bit and probably stay there, okay, so I'm going to center that again knowing that my card is going to stop right here, so I'm just going to center that. the best I can based on that type of image and then what I'm going to do is check that we're doing a on the card mat and then what we're going to do is click continue and now it's just going to look like a success through Bluetooth, so we'll wait for it to do that and then we can start drawing, so now we'll just browse our materials, let me see if I can click on Popular, it should be there.
We're just inserting cardstock and then what we're going to do is we're going to load our pin into the little clamp so it fits right, so we're going to go ahead and switch cameras and we're going to go ahead and load everything. inside and we'll start writing, then once we're done writing, we can start decorating the card and make the cut on the front, okay, now what we're going to do is open the joy and remember that we do it. have the card upside down so we have the inside facing up and we'll just go ahead and auto load it so it pulls in and make sure the mat is all lined up and then once that's done what we'll do is go. to go ahead and take out the sheet and just put it to the side and then you can insert the pen so I like to keep the cap right on top so you don't lose it and then you just put the pen in and close. the clamp is that easy, so now what we can do is click go on our device and now it's going to type in our little sentiment, so it's really fun to watch.
I really like watching him write. It looks like it's going to start with my name. at the bottom it's always fun to see what joy or any slicer is really like, what they start with when it comes to writing, so it's dizzying, oh, it looks really cute. I like that font so again that font was called "be mine" which I just stumbled upon. which actually when I wrote this and set it up, I've never used this font before and it's pretty cool, so now it's telling me that it wants me to load a different pen for the heart, but I'm going to go ahead and Click Go because I have the I intend for it to be the same color, so I'm just going to let you cut the heart out of the same pen, but it would be a really nice idea if you changed the color of your pen to a different one, so the text in the design space should be been that the color of my heart text was a little different, that's probably what makes me want to change my pens, so now it's all done, so I can click download and now we have it written inside the card, so one thing I noticed is remember when we were allocating a little bit of space for Miss here, we did a great job because now we have a pretty even space on top, but we didn't actually allocate this little space on the side, so you're going to want to push it a bit.
I mean, it's only a quarter of an inch, so honestly, I think this is beautiful and I'll keep it and even send it as is. on the right, but you know, it's beautiful, it'll work fine, but I wanted to mention it just so you know, because we did, you know, make sure you allocate a little bit of space here, so we just need to allocate a little bit of space. on the side too, so now I'm just using my little cutting tool just to grab my card. Okay, now what I'm going to do is take it out and then just fold it over.
So now the inside of our card is written and it's so cute I honestly feel like I have pretty good handwriting especially since I used to teach so I'm used to like writing the best I can but can someone please write this ? beautifully, I mean, I've even taken little handwriting courses, you know those little font books, and thank goodness this is beautiful. I don't know if even with a lot of practice it could be that perfect, so I love the idea of being able to choose. source and be able to let Cricut do all that hard work for us so what I'm going to do is I'm going to fold it this way now and now we're going to create the outside of our card so the reason The reason why you want to make the inside first is because the outside makes a lot of complex cuts and I don't want you to make all those complex cuts and then place it here and have the cut clipped or something like that when you place it. inside the card mat so I think it's a better practice to do the inside of the card first that way you can place it like this and then your little sentiment will be inside and then you'll place it like you would. make the card, so now let's go back to the Cricut design space.
I'll show you the card we're going to make and we'll cut it all out. Now we're back in Cricut design space, so again I'm going to save this project that way when I need to make another card. I have everything ready. I already have the square and everything, or I guess the rectangle, so now what I'm going to do is go to my Home and II'll scroll down here and go to creative cards and see all of them. Now you want to make sure that your joy is selected like that, this option appears above because these are joy projects um, so I'm going to scroll down and I'm looking for one.
I think it's called conversation hearts. I saw it last time and I loved it. There it is, so I'm just going to click on this and then I'm going to say everything prefab and let's see, let's save, okay, so the other project was saved and now this is going to be a new project. I hope I have done well now. What we're going to do is take this up to the creation screen and skip over the canvas because everything is already done, so now all we're going to have to do is just slide our card mat into the machine and start cutting.
Now we'll just click Continue and again select Insert Cardstock and then what we'll do is replace the pen with the blade and then we'll start cutting. Now what will we do? is just take this pen out and put the cap back on and then we can just put the blade back on and close the clamp and now again we have the top of the card ready to go and insert it into the mat and we'll just let it automatically load again , it's going to pull it in and make sure everything is lined up and then it's going to start cutting to get everything back on your device, so you're going to click Go on your phone or iPad or your desktop, so once it's you click on it everything will start cutting so now it's all done and it'll come back out and then we'll just click download and then everything will be done so we'll close joy and this is where I like to use my scraper tool again, so I guess it's more of a spatula tool so I just act like I'm peeling cookies off a cookie sheet and I'm sorry if that makes you crave cookies but that's exactly what it feels like so this just helps to prevent the card from bending or tearing, especially when the mat is so new that you have to be very careful because that cardstock is really stuck there, so we can cut them slowly. up and now you better believe I'm going to make some chocolate chip cookies after this video because cookies have already been said so I think it's only appropriate that we all have some cookies how about that okay so now what let's do?
What we're going to do is we're just going to slide this out and then you're going to be left with the little pieces right on your mat, so now we can set that mat aside and then we'll take our little insert again. You can use the inserts that come with the Joy The Joy card pack, but I like to create my own. I think they're really fun when you can add a little bit of pattern behind them, so what you're going to do is you just open the card and lay it out any way you want.
Sometimes if you have double-sided paper, it's even more fun mm-hmm because then the inside is a little bit fun for you and you just put them up. in those four little slots, make sure everything is cute and then you'll have your little card that looks really fun and sweet, that's exactly how you would taste inside your card and everything will be ready and look beautiful again. I want to just hover it a little bit over this little text on the left when you're in that little preview screen in Cricut design space, but other than that, I think it looks very, very pretty, so the bottom line is What would I recommend doing the interior? first and then the outside that way once this beautiful delicate outside is done you won't have to put it back inside the card mat and you won't be sure not to get hurt or I mean I guess it gets torn or something . card, that's how I would do it again.
I know there are many different ways to do all of these things and that's the beautiful part of crafting is that there are many different routes to get to the goal, so if you find a way to do it. works best for you, then totally do it that way, but this way definitely works for me now when you're cleaning the card mat. One thing I do is just take my little scraper tool and just scrape off the little pieces. it's very quick and I do it lightly so I don't disturb the mat, but it's a nice quick way and then you can put this over the trash can and then put everything in there so it's a nice quick way to do it.
