Okay, let's get into today's story. Following the advice of his longtime therapist, a 70-year-old man named Art began writing about what happened. to him and his family 30 years earlier, in 1989. His therapist only knew that Art had lost a child and felt very guilty about it, but the conditions under which the child was lost were always very gray even though art had been his patient for years and the therapist had repeatedly tried to get more information. Art and his wife Lisa had planned this pregnancy and were ecstatic when their baby was born. He was welcomed into the world and they showered him with affection and love and did everything they could to provide him with a warm and loving environment, but no matter what they did, it seemed like he was always miserable.

His son cried constantly for the first 13 months of his life. Life Now Art and Lisa understood that when you bring a baby home there is a good chance he will cry, but his crying was so constant and couldn't calm him down that they were worried this was more than just a colicky baby. To do this, every time they were out, he would even sneak in through the windows to do this, I mean, he was dead set on going to the bathroom in his bed, so they had to start putting locks on the windows and doors of his bedroom, but when they finally secured that room where he couldn't really get in anymore, he started going to the bathroom right outside their door and to the other beds in the house, so they started investing in locks on all the doors. They even replaced the doors because they were too flimsy and they thought there was a high chance he would kick them to try to open them, so they put these big thick doors all over the house and put these big locks with key locks everywhere. over the house to prevent his son from entering and going to the bathroom, over all the sheets as his son grew he became more and more unruly, far beyond going to the bathroom, in different places he became violent and bit and kicked and scratched and spat at anyone who approached him he was a wild animal before he was nine he had been expelled from school two separate times when they let him back a third time apparently he did something so bad that he was actually expelled, a nine year old boy he's being expelled from school, so they had to enroll him in this other special school that would accept him with his story, but

of the deal with this school is that you don't have any interaction with others. students, he was considered too dangerous to be around other children, so he was totally isolated at school and ultimately that made him much worse once he enrolled in school, he became very violent at home, he would come back from school and it was going well. he would go into the kitchen and pull out a knife and start threatening his parents to the point where they had to close all the kitchen drawers, once all the knives were locked in Art's house their son started stealing knives from the neighbor's house. house he would smuggle them into the house and at night he would take them out and try to stab Art and on two different occasions he was successful and Art still has scars on his leg and Art's son was not only attacking his parents but also attacking the local animals that were helpless, he blinded one of the local dogs that was running around the area by just stabbing it in the eye, one day he went after one of the stray cats and set its tail on fire and, honestly, the art no They even knew the other harm he had done to other animals or even other people, although Art and Lisa were greatly resentful of their son for how badly he treated them and how difficult he was making their lives, they recognized that it was about a child who needed help and so They did everything they could to help him by enrolling him in that special school that ultimately isolated him, but it was an attempt to try to help him or take him to different therapists, psychologists and doctors, give him different medications and take him to meditation consultants.

I mean, whatever, they tried everything they could to try to help this kid, but nothing worked, he just got angrier and angrier and got bigger and stronger and more aggressive and violent and eventually Art and Lisa say: what do we do about it? What started happening over the next few years is art and Lisa became a prisoner of her own home and every time her son was around they felt insecure around him, he was a wild card and he had these crazy outbursts of anger and he was clearly prone to extreme violence and so they started using those heavy doors and locks to lock themselves away from their son, it was the only way they felt safe and with that in mind let's fast forward to 1988 when Art's son is now 16 years and Art and Lisa discover that being pregnant again was a surprise and they were not happy with it, in fact, because of how bad things had gone for their son, they were very afraid that another child would be just as bad and they could not go back to go through this.

So they decided they weren't going to break up, but if they realized from the beginning that this child was a big problem, no matter how horrible they felt, they knew they would give him up for adoption, they just couldn't do this again. time they had a daughter and she was normal, she looked nothing like her son, she didn't come home and cried constantly, she smiled and laughed and after a few months she slept through the night and was reaching her milestones and seemed happy. and she was easy and it was at that moment that art and lisa started to realize how bad their son was seeing how wonderful their daughter was just amplified all of their son's atrocious behavior for the first 16 years of his life and so art and lisa really started to see their son more as a lost cause and were less interested in going through the motions of trying to find some way to help him when they knew it wasn't going to work, it had never worked and he's just a A couple of years away from turning 18, he can go out on his own and figure it out for himself and now, because they didn't care about him as much anymore, suddenly his behavior was intolerable and every time he misbehaved, they would never lend him a hand. . about him, but they weren't afraid to tell him to basically get out of here, we're not going to tolerate this leave and so regularly art and lisa would have these horrible shouting matches with their son until their son would basically run away in a anger and then he would come back hours later or even a couple of days later and art said he started to expect to fight with his son because every time they fought it meant that his son would be gone for a while afterwards and there would be some peace and calm inside. from the house, but at the same time Art and Lisa were worried that one of these days he would come back after one of these fights and kill us, so it went on like this for about a year until a rainy day came. in 1989, when her son was almost 18 years old and her daughter almost 1 year old, now the house they lived in was a single-story bungalow and her daughter's room was against a side wall where there was a window that looked outside that morning art and lisa had gotten into one of the worst shouting matches they had ever had with their son and he left angry and they closed the door behind him after a couple of hours their son is still gone and they don't expect to see him .

The son is so shocked by how quickly this has happened that he is not doing anything, he is not positioning himself to defend himself or even to preemptively attack his mother, he is just standing there, looking at his mother. mother with no expression on her face and that's when Art's wife finishes and punches him in the face knocking his head back and Art immediately said he realized his nose was broken, blood was splashed all over his face and falls to the ground until that moment. neither lisa nor art had ever laid a hand on their son, even when she stabbed art twice in the legs, they never physically hit their son, but this was different, their son had crossed the line and could never come back, so even though art knew if he doesn't intervene his wife is going to beat his son to death even though he knew that was going to happen, he remembers thinking it through, he turns around and leaves the room with his daughter while Art cleans his daughter and he puts a band on it. helps with each of the cuts that were inflicted on him, he hears in the other room his son yelling at him and yelling at his mother saying: I'm going to kill you and she just beats him mercilessly, kicks him and crushes him, he's not slowing down speed at all. and art remembers when he picked up his daughter after putting all the band aids on her and she calmed down a little, he still heard his wife hitting, kicking and crushing their son who is now unconscious again, art knows if i don't.
