MIXING Glow in the Dark & Colored Pearls | Does it Work?

Jun 06, 2021
Hey guys, I'm a fan of dunking your car and today we're going to have fun. We have some experiments to do it. A moment ago we made our

glow

in the

dark

video and it was pretty popular now that we've been getting it. bombarded with questions people want to know if we can get a

glow

in the

dark

car that

does

n't seem to glow in the dark and what I mean by that is they don't want the car to look like that whitish, greenish during the day and glow the night. They want to know. Can you mix the glow in the dark pigments with other beads so that they have some color on the car during the day and still get that glowing effect at night?

Well, we're putting it to the test. Enjoy the video. Now I will explain to you how we will approach this experiment. I'll show you everything we've laid out, so obviously we want to mix the glitter. -Pigment in the dark with different types of

pearls

in case one is more compatible with the glow than another, so this is what we have. Obviously we have our glow-in-the-dark cryptographic glow pigment. We will need it and then we will have a color change color powder which is bora bora we have a color change white powder which is gc47 we have a solid pearl of color powder which is tahitian green and just to see what happens we have a pearl of hypershift in ztn now you may have seen a theme in the four

pearls

and that is, all four have some kind of greenish tone or greenish tint because the glow in the dark pigment is somewhat greenish, so we want it to at least have the opportunity to function.

More Interesting Facts About,

mixing glow in the dark colored pearls does it work...

With the pearl we hope that it changes the appearance of the pearl, but this gives it a little more chance of compatibility now obviously we want to test all four and we're not going to do it full scale on all four cars, so I have four ways to big speed here, they all already have a black plastic base facing down, so we'll use those. We have two high powered UV lamps so we can charge the speed forms very quickly to see if they glow. We've got Gabe and we're ready to go, as far as the

mixing

ratios, what we're thinking is we could go all the way down to the gloss all the way down to the

colored

pigments, but as a good starting point, as just a reference point, We are going to make 50 luminous pigments, 50 color pigments and it will be a load of 50 grams per gallon, so this is what we have here: we have gc47 and cryptobrite tahitian green and cryptobrite bora bora cryptobrite and ztn and cryptobrite it's time to start to mix So alright guys we finished the quick shapes we put three coats of color on each one they are nice and dry now Gabe and I came into this with some predictions the first was how much the shimmer pigment would impact the color of the

colored

pearls now the bright pigment is like a white pigment and we went in with a 50 50 weight ratio, we thought it was going to have a really big impact on the color of the pearls, it just gave them all a very pastel look smooth and fortunately we were both completely wrong if you look at the speed shapes, they look totally normal, full saturation, the color is correct, you can't even tell there's a bright pigment there, it looks like gc47, it looks like Tahitian or a boring looks correct. and even the ztn is changing correctly, the saturation is there, so they look totally normal, however that to us anyway means that the color pigment is completely swallowing the bright pigment, which unfortunately may not cause any glowing effect, but we're still Let's check it out, what we have is two high power UV lamps and we're going to give each speed shape its own individual UV bath because UV lights are the fastest way, the most effective way to charge bright pigments. to let them charge one by one for about five minutes, come back and see if we can see any glow effect.

Now we've given the gc47 speed form a good five minutes to bathe in the UV light. Let's turn everything off. and let's see if we get any glow effect on the three two one, hit it, wow, it

does

shine, shit, it definitely shines, okay, let's try the other three, two, one, hit it, wow, bora bora shines too, okay, Let's continue three, two, one. Wow, even Tahitian is

work

ing with the darkest color ever, okay, let's check out Hypershift two, boom, even Hypershift

work

s. I didn't expect this at all, guys, so how do we end this experiment well?
mixing glow in the dark colored pearls does it work
First of all, my predictions were completely off, I'm not sure if you guys had a better idea of what was going to happen, but at a 50 to 50 ratio it doesn't seem like the bright pigments really change the color of the pearl, which is amazing and secondly it maintains a glowing effect which I wasn't expecting at all now of course it doesn't glow as bright or for as long as the glow car we made but it's pretty clear why the glow car had five layers of glow. pearl at 100 grams per gallon which is much more shine than we have in these speed forms and the more shine you have on the surface the brighter it will shine and the longer it will shine.
Now I'm not suggesting that any of you do this full-scale project on your own vehicle, but if you're the type of person who wants a pearlescent car with a shiny effect, you're more than welcome to experiment as you see fit.
