money

British GT Championship races towards its halfway point as the teams and drivers arrive at Donington Park for the first of two visits to the East Midlands circuit this year, the second time in as many weeks, a one-hour race Call and if it's something like that. Our most recent round, the Silverstone 500, is in for a real treat. British GT's blue-ribbon event generated quite a stir when Adam Ballen led an all-Lamborghini front row at the start of the three-hour race. It was stellar Motorsport Audi leading from Poland gt4, but it wasn't long before the first big drama unfolded.

Richard almost tangled with james cottingham as they battled for third place in logic and all three mercedes amgs suffered damage. Another Mercedes was soon pointing the wrong way. The way Chris Froggett lapped his car around the circuit and it wasn't just that Mercedes had problems early, Mia flew, it's McLaren that also suffered early damage and dropped down the order, as long as it brought its Ram race car to the pits to repair it, it was then. gt4 leader's turn for a spin with richard williams circling the village several places were missed but fortunately no damage caused in gt3 ballon was attacked by alex maliakin and the pair touched when the red line racing driver took the lead from him.

Robust pass for which Malikin was subsequently penalized One of the best battles of the early hours between Tom Rawlings and Jordan Collard, with the latter moving his Toyota into third place with a beautiful move in the loop The battle continued until Collard suffered a rear end right puncture which I was looking to escape without a mid race spin and the enduro motorsport was making good progress here passing the 59 mclaren garage which was also a threat to the win all day unfortunately through the addie balth motorsport who had been one of the stars of the show at alton

slowed down with an apparent puncture that left him out of the competition.

The variety on display in GT4 this year is immense and it was a scrap BMW Aston Martin Ford Mustang for third place that attracted much of the attention. the race approached the halfway mark matt cowley put in some impressive moves to get to the front of that group enduro motorsport collided with the rjn mclaren rocket at the farm with both cars looking to avoid damage hard then would lose more time in the pits when the fire extinguisher went to the front, although Adam Ballen and Sandy Mitchell took the narrowest victory over garage 59, while New Bridge Motorsport came out on top in a very competitive GT4 class, so the rac trophy belongs to Barbell Motorsport this season, Darren Turner and Matt Topham, meanwhile, celebrated. another win in GT4 and we left Silverstone second on the points last time we raced at Donington, it was Enduro Motorsport who took their first win in a British GT race, marking a significant improvement throughout the season for both Morgan Tilbrook as for Marcus Clutton.

It was a true story last year where Unfortunately in the first round we didn't even make it to the first lap to get to the last round and you know we had a really good performance and as a team you know both drivers did well the team had a good performance, it was useless and yes, we did it. We got a mega win, it was pretty magical for us as a team, but for me to run the team too, I never thought I'd run a British GT team and win overall, it's great for me, I'm just young. in the world of equipment managers, but you know we did it, I have great guys behind me supporting me and doing that, so you know I couldn't have done it without any of them, but yeah, last year was a mega year, We learned, we did our homework and we came back. this year to try and improve on that also victorious in the Donington decider last year where motorsports academy Matt Cowley is looking to repeat that this year now alongside Canadian Marco Senioretti uh it's a great competition it's really good and Going to tracks like this, I learn a lot.
So I look forward to it every time I go out on the track and uh the Mustang is obviously a little bit bigger than a Nissan Micra but I've had quite a bit of sitting time in the GT4 so I'm pretty comfortable with the cars it's more or less just learning the Pirelli. Which is new for me and the circuits we go to, yes it hasn't been the best season so far, we've been a bit unlucky and just struggled in the first few rounds, but generally we do pretty well here, so we are looking to change things. and it looks good so far, it's just a good track for us, it works with the bop that we get and, uh, with the mustang, especially it means we can take a lot of braking around here, things like that help us around here and it just means that We usually have a good race, so it's almost time for round four of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship to start here at Donington Park for the second race in a row.
It's a three-hour encounter that awaits the teams and the drivers always enjoy these. The races are a little longer but they are certainly never boring and with the strategic element included with these three mandatory pit stops and driver changes, it is always the kind of race that keeps us guessing until the end. It's a lovely day. Here at Dodington Park, in fact, the sun is shining, the ambient temperature is reaching 10 degrees, the track temperature is a little warmer and the fans here are looking forward to three hours of non-stop action on the circuit. Donington Park. heading to the grill now to get a closer look at the cars uh andy mcqueen here in the country he moves between all the action there will be bryn lucas our roving reporter and I'm secretly quite jealous of him because uh insider books these gt cars it's a fantastic place to be and I think Bryn has already found a very special guest here in Donington to chat with, good afternoon look, don't worry Andy, don't be jealous of me, there are plenty of other people who are in a much, much better place than me, but I'm here right now in the pits with Julian Peneston Hill from Intelligent Money, the CEO of Intelligent Money Hour, kind of our title sponsor, and it's great to see you here and you've been a great grid as well.
Here before Donington last year for the Donington decider, yes the decider, it was a fantastic day, absolutely fantastic, but coming here for this one here in July last year generated a lot of excitement. Are you expecting a clean race or a lot of excitement? I hope to see more finished cars since last time, yes last July was a bit exciting, yes very exciting, but sand line 30 starts today fantastically, well as you say, huge grid, 30 car grid , 17 in gt3, 13 gt4, including Behind You, that brick team car I know you have your eyes on. I'm very happy to see the British team here behind what they are doing.
Bring people with disabilities to races. It's fantastic. Is really. Great to see and smart

involvement for you. You have a few more years left on this deal, don't you? Yes, yes, we are here. Well, it seems like we've always been here to be honest. It's year three so it's great but there's a lot more to come, great stuff that's what we want to hear Julian thank you so much Andy there you go Julian's got your back yeah thank you so much bryn bren Luca is going to be investigating everything. from the breaking news up and down the pit lane now, like I said, I'm here in the commentary box and you'll be with me when the race starts, uh, Joe Osborne, who is a McLaren factory driver, was on the podium .
In fact, at the Silverstone 500 in the GT3 class just a couple of weeks ago, so he knows what he's doing, he knows what it takes to be a GT driver and Joe, you found yourself back in your natural habitat, now in the pit lane and, uh, you. Maybe you can explain to us exactly what's going through the drivers' heads as we head into final preparations for the race. Yes, thanks Andy for the kind words. I feel like an animal here in my beautiful habitat and we see the pulse. enduro mclaren here in the final shots they are preparing the car some new pirelli tires running maybe 100 degrees out of the oven so they will already be hot if you come here with me you will be able to see inside the cabin of the mclaren it is really claustrophobic we have a network of security here, the radio system so you can talk to the driver, the team and then everything here, the cockpit, morgan, one word, what you're saying, one word, I want to offer a result for the team.
They've given us a great car all season and I just need to try to turn this pole position into a win. It would be great, a great day, obviously, amazing, more than a word, but I'll let you go, but you can really see the inside of these. cabins, how claustrophobic these cars can be, you will see that the car will now fall to the ground from its air intakes, the driver of the car in front with a paddle will lift it when it is clear and the pit lane is a busy place here at Donington Park, It's a full grid, so in the race it's going to be very interesting to see if there's a safety car, for example, how busy it stops nice and smooth when the wheels spin and lose some of that grip from the new tires. and then you have to stay on track. pit limiter to that green light where he will release the car and head to the grid, they really are exciting times and the reason I say I'm jealous in some ways that I'm not down there is that when we're in and around the pit lane at the start or at any time during a race like this, it's just an incredible atmosphere, it's a really strange mix of nerves, anticipation, excitement, the drivers go through all the emotions as they prepare to race.
What I said is a three-hour race, but don't be put off by the length of the race because these three-hour races, as we saw at Silverstone last time, are always exciting, like I said, you get this. strategic element 180 minutes and then three mandatory driver changes, which is actually one more pit stop than the teams would like to make. Ideally they would stop at the end of the first hour and the end of the second hour, but instead they have to make an extra pit stop somewhere now there are no pit windows, you can come in whenever you want within three hours However, none of your drivers can do more than 100 minutes of 180 combined, so keep in mind that you want to max out your fastest driver. get them there for as much of that 100 minute period as possible minimum pit stop times for gt3 and gt4 vary slightly 110 seconds for gt3 which is between pit entry and pit exit line including pit stop also 140 seconds for gt4 and gt4 class, silver cup cars also have an additional 14 seconds to serve at stops and, for the first time this season, race success penalties will be served at the third and final stop in pits, so The three teams that were ranked as the top three points finishers at Silverstone were last in GT3 and GT4 have extra time to pull out, so in GT3 it is the barred sports car of Adam Balon and Sandy Mitchell the one who won last time on their third and final pit stop spent 20 seconds more in the pits than anyone else the red line racing lamborghini of alex malik and james dawlin has a 15 second success penalty and asceto motorsport took a podium la last time at silverstone and its reward 10 extra seconds in the stops, it's the same story, so for those top three in GT4 last summer, when we raced here at Dollington Park, it was the Ava team racing in the top echelon of the podium, what do you think they can do again today?
Yes, Andy behind me. Rich just took him to Sam's position near him is here too. Now this was a happy hunting ground for U2 last year. What can you do from this position on the grid? Yes, we are definitely moving forward. You know, we had one, we think one. average qualifying p5 so you know it's in the mix but on the first inside corner we have nothing to lose in the

championship

, you know we are in the 12th

championship

so we need to pick up some points so we don't finish fifth. I'll probably finish much higher starting on the right side, the inside doesn't mean you have to veer to the left side, what's the message to Richard for the start of this race, try it easy, no harm.
Obviously the key, we know that the red door squeezes at the halfway point so it always causes the collision and there are some feisty guys in front so hopefully we won't have any problems, but you know, if there's a gap, it has You have to be there to win. It looks good, thank you very much. I like that there are some feisty kids at the front of the grid, including your dad Richard, who I think I've referred to as a feisty guy on more than one occasion, but do you know what it was worth for him? here last year,Rich Neary when he started from the back of the GT3 grid and led the race halfway through the first lap, it's true that an unfortunate accident at turn one helped him a little, but we know that Richard never backs down when he goes forward.
The first stints of the race, that car will start from fifth on the grid, the pole position goes to the car Joe was watching most closely in the pit lane, the enduro motorsport car, were our other Donington Park winners in 2021 because, as This year there were two visits to Donington last season, the first in the summer, the Aber team was on top and then Donington decided and the last round of the championship was won by Enduro Motorsport, they were not competing for the championship . day, but they were able to climb to the top step of the podium and yesterday they were the fastest in the two GT3 qualifying sessions, so they have a good pace.
Morgan Tillbrook will start from pole position in GT4. It's stellar racing in pole position. richard williams will start from the pole and with his co-driver they have had a great start to the season, right? Nothing offensive for you, Zenon and your teammate Richard, pole position in the GT4 class, beautiful car, beautiful driver, what are they expectations for today's race? Obviously, it's a three-hour race. Anything can happen. Obviously we are in the privileged position here, but I think we can only concentrate on our job and there are a lot of other things happening, especially when the GT3 starts to come back and overtake us.
We just have to keep our heads down, try to keep a clean race and our objective for today is just to get some points for the championship we are in a very good position now, so as long as we maintain consistency, which is our number one objective, I am convinced, so I believe in you, what is the Audi's strongest point and what is its weakest compared to the other GT4 competitors so far, I think what we have seen in the last sector is probably one of our weakest points , but this car in a race is incredible, it is very consistent, especially for me and for Richard driving the team.
I've done a really good job of putting it in the window where we can do a one hour period and it's nice for the driver and you know what's underneath so we can move on or we just need to be. consistent and keep making our way perfect thanks buddy you didn't tell me your weakness but it's okay from one beautiful man to another bryn who got me? Ian, you're sitting in a pretty good position here, aren't you? left side, but you have your work car in front of you, you are just as good at leading the championship, but now a lot of dust has settled after what has been happening?
How can you keep your eyes on the prize and focus? Yes, as you say, we are sitting in a good position here, we are in the second row, it is always a little more difficult than the outside, but we have to be focused, make sure we don't take damage and, in the first second round, the things will start to improve and then move on with the race, it's a three hour race, so I think our cars in the window this weekend we'll be in good shape, so as long as uh, we won't get in trouble, we'll be in the mix, I'm sure and you have on your right side Alan Balon behind you you have Balfourn on your shoulder on the right side you also have I have Richard Neary, so there are a lot of people around you who will compete for this first corner.
Yeah, I'm sure that's going to be the case and let's hope everyone's sensible, certainly, Um Adam, the rights and the two guys. Those in front are very, very sensible and will do the right thing, I'm sure, so I'll do the same. Best of luck, there you go, that's ian logging, now Joe is higher up on the grid, Joe, who are you with five? Seconds, no, this car was very fast, so Rob Bell, we had a beautiful men theme and now we get you excited about the race, obviously a one-off appearance for you in British GT, it's a championship, you know well if we're going .
As for expectations, what are they for you? Well, coming into the race you obviously have high expectations and it's brilliant to be here. You know it's a great championship. I love Donington and you obviously have a fantastic car. Unfortunately, we don't have it. We performed how we wanted to, we are still fighting to get the car in the right window of opportunity for the tire and we are working on some set-up changes and maybe even in the race we have changed some things for the race, so we may It is suitable for longer periods, so yes, we came with high expectations and maybe we have tempered them a little, but look, it is a long race, we will see how we go, perfect friend, good luck.
For you I think we have good things I think off the podium is my cry for this car I'm going to give it back to you Andy at the checkout what do you know friend? Well, let's see, what I know is that we have an entertaining afternoon ahead of us, that's for sure, and fantastic variety on the track. We've seen the Porsches do well in the GT3 category and, earlier in the season, the Audi Balfour Motorsport, which is actually the leading car in the joint GT3 championship that they won. the first race at Alton Park, but I didn't get a brilliant result last time at Silverstone and Bryn Lucas, I think he found the Balf team on the grid, eh Brian, what can you tell us?
Well, I can tell you who I was talking to. Ian Loggie a few moments ago a championship leader well, another guy who is also a championship leader is Sean Balfour and you're directly behind him, aren't you? Yes we can, we have eyes on him. Should I say yes? I prefer it that way. The other way around of course, but yes it's a long race as I'm sure everyone says to sail the first lap hopefully and then see how the race develops. It's a really tough race at Darlington because of the GT4 traffic those guys are fighting so hard. they don't want to waste time, so it's about passing traffic safely, making pit stops efficiently and, uh, driving a little bit in between, I guess it's staying calm, cool and collected, right?
And it's also three hours. race so you have to go through the whole first corner which dragged you to the first corner above your shoulders, to your right is Richard Neary so you will try to overtake him or just see What happens, yes it is really difficult to try predict it, you just have to be spontaneous and able to react quickly, so I mean you always need a little bit of luck in these situations, so we'll see what the racing gods have installed for us, yeah. Let's see how luck plays out this afternoon, good luck, regards, thank you, yes, thank you very much, bryn, well, as you've probably heard in the background, they're starting to clear the grid, now we're just a few minutes away from getting this quarter. championship round underway drivers who are not starting the cars returning to the pit lane this is the car that starts on the outside of the front row by the way the two seas motorsports uh mercedes of uh james cottingham he will start the car and I also started the car at Silverstone a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately got tangled up with Richard Neary, Andy and Loggie halfway through the opening laps, so it hasn't been the start to the season that two seas would have hoped for or possibly hoped for, an end among the top five and Two finishes without points for them so far, but they started second.
It certainly seemed like the Mercedes AMGs were fast. We have three of them inside the top five on the grid, but interestingly they are surrounding the two mid-engined cars. and the enduro motorsport clarinet and the lamborghini barber motorsport first and third respectively, so

donington

, which we were talking about yesterday in qualifying, seems to be one of those circuits that almost adapt to the different cars uh in the same way, the Front-engined cars pass well at high speed, fill in the mid-engined cars in some of the tougher stuff and then factor in that rear-engined Porsche for the Parker Team races, which was fast in practice but only qualified in 11th place and you have all the ingredients for a pretty mixed race. race and that's just in gt3 gt4 uh many times it's been even more hectic than gt3 in some races this season certainly at silverstone we saw a tremendous fight in the gt4 ranks yes the stella motorsport team is leading the championship at the moment and yes , I have won two of the first three races of the season and yes, today they are on pole, but I don't think they are going to get away with it, they have extra time to spend in the pit lane because they are a silver cup car and They carry a penalty for success at the last stop, but yes, it will be a fascinating race either way.
Stay tuned for the next three hours of action here at Dodington Park, the last chance to have a Look at the cars on the grid, the grid starts to clear, the atmosphere around the driver starts to get quieter and quieter before the whole noise from the start of the race takes over and, what an impressive sight it is, and I was saying, a moment ago. Josh, who joins me here in the comment box, sometimes I get jealous that I can't be down there because on the grid, the moments before the race, surrounded by these beautiful cars and these enormously talented drivers, there is a great atmosphere and tension.
It's palpable, you can feel it, it's not just the drivers, it's the mechanics, there are team owners, sponsors, you have all these cars and fundamentally everyone wants the first stretch of the track in turn number one, whenever possible, yes, Absolutely, it's fantastic. atmosphere down there and a great view of the grid and, uh, few behind the scenes footage of how we got that shot, uh, a braver man than me, I don't think you'd put me on that segway, uh, even if you paid me, but uh yeah, fantastic view of the

british

gt line up, what a line up we have this year.
We've got such a great grid of cars, we've got 30 of them ready to battle it out here around the grand prix layout at Donington, a circuit where the teams. and the drivers know it well, and a circuit that we know always produces good racing, it's not the easiest circuit to overtake Joe, but I like that it shouldn't be too easy, you should have to fight for your trap position, yeah , definitely. The flowing nature of Donnington is beautiful to drive and see, but overtaking becomes difficult. In sector three, it gets tight and twisty, so we have the back straight at turn nine, ten, chicane nine, it's a good overtaking point, not the best, then it goes on to turn eleven. a 180 degree hairpin and fifth gear goes down to first, so it's a big braking zone, so it's possible to send one on the inside and it's a similar story in the last corner, so you have three big opportunities to overtake them, they are all at the end. of the lap and I think what I like about it is that if you are stuck behind a slower car you have to be patient, the first nine corners are difficult to overtake and then suddenly you are given three opportunities at once, essentially, so it's hard to get it right, certainly that's how they will line up later in round four of the smart money

british

gt championship morgan tilburg on pole in his mclaren with james cottingham's mercedes two seas alongside the road number two for adam ballen of barwell motorsport and ram racing uh, ian loggie, the joint championship leader, row number three is where we find richard neary and sean balf in the other joint championship leading car, the audi before the row four, where we find john ferguson, his new teammate this weekend, and michael aigo for wpi motorsport. in the top 10, mark samson's asceto uh bentley with alex maliakin alongside both cars will have success penalties which they will serve later on nick jones, the former race winner here at

donington

with the

park

racing team in 11th place along with fox nick halstead's motorsport mclaren so it's mine it was blown up by another mclaren stuart proctor in the greystone gt mclaren they think they found something in the car at walmart but hopefully it will make them a little faster.
Calvin Fletcher had trouble warming up earlier for Panic Motorsport. He starts 15 alongside Simon Watts back then. In the GT3 field we have Betty Chen, the Taiwanese driver from Century Motorsport, and then we are in the GT4 category, where Stella Motorsport dominated the standings and their Audi, started by Richard Williams, has pole position with Matt Topham along with the two best cars in the championship. Top two places on the grid Jamie Day was fast yesterday, in fact both drivers from our races were there. Aston starts third alongside Marco Señoretti, the Canadian motorsports academy driver in the Toyota Mustang Tomeka, he is fifth in GT4, followed by Ross Wiley, who has been impressive all season. long row four inside the gt4 rows, then he'll burn his bmw and tom rawlings bmw the two motorsport vigators of the century are sharing a row outside the grid then it's joe wheeler in ashley marshall's ascetic ginetta paddock motorsport mclaren and then just behind the field in the back row aaron morgan for the teambritish and ed mcdermott in the swan racing mclaren uh motor will not complete the grid because jamie alton who had problems in qualifying yesterday for the parker racing team will be on the last row of the grid by himself, so 30 cars, three hours, three stops in the pits, no driver can do more than 100 minutes, so you have to time those pit stops well, there are some clouds looming overhead, there are a couple of whispers of a rain or two throughout The only thing I can tell you for sure is that you can't miss round number four of the

intelligent

money british gt championship.
We are racing towards the halfway point of what is a hugely competitive championship and what will happen in the next three. The hours will no doubt shape the final conclusion to our 2022 season two by two to the line, then the green lights come on, we are away racing here at Donington Park and Morgan Tilbury is holding the inside line. James Cotingham on the outside has his nose first. but he's not that late on the brakes, yes, he's going on the outside of the mclaren, there's almost contact and they still go out of the corner, it seems cottingham has done it, although he carried the momentum on the outside at Red Gate. and gets the motorsports mercedes of the two seas to take the race lead until brooke second loggy third ball there in fourth and richard almost hot on his heels as they descend through old heaven for the first time, a clean race at the first bend and joe, what I started from cottingham.
Incredible, the outside line is not the preferred one, that's why it's second, it's not the pole, but the boost you mentioned was key, it was a wider line, but then you could see the flow it had along the crane. The car that sneaks by from that rear view camera and is giving it an incredibly clean start, there are three more back in the gt3 field and the gt4 is sensible too so so far I haven't seen any incidents that change for the second place in gt4 so it looks like second and third because uh, matt topham has lost a couple of positions, one against uh josh day and then the other, I think it was Señoretti in the mustang, so they lost two places, uh, for the new bridge, still stellar audi motorsport, although that will lead the gt4 field towards the end of lap number one, everyone clearing the chicane adam ballard defending richard neary michael i'm going to dive down the inside of mark samson's bentley get the line inside at the melbourne hairpin and he'll make good progress, that's 7th place for igego and alex malia keem tries to follow him in the red line car too, yeah it's definitely one of the best overtaking spots i was talking about before and It's executed perfectly there now, at the end of the first lap, we start to see who has the pace of the two forwards. like they're pretty far ahead of everyone else in terms of that overall pace right now it almost looks daring that fifth car there but we're taking the right shot the green and black mercedes amg let's get on board with them let's go watch that car pass by through the crane the curve so we dive down the hill here the road really drops off this left is actually blind it's a bit of a wide slope now it's too far to the right so this should give Balon a chance to get a good exit and give us a little difference, the track limits are strict at the start, there's actually a sensor that the car goes over automatically takes a photo and race control puts them through a penalty, uh, on the sidewalk . the old boss we gotta be careful james cottingham took a spin there at walmart but it's funny joe because we both oh i don't care he's going to the paddock gt4 mclaren I think that's it don't you by the cornering crane and will rejoin the circuit, but after having damaged the car, oh no, Joe Wheeler is also in the geneta, so contact there maybe because they were avoiding the mclaren Joe Wheeler, who did not do previous tests to the event because he was taking his A levels.
I couldn't even go out in the three practice sessions yesterday, I came here for qualifying and unfortunately his career is already falling apart, yes that's the world's first problem, too much intelligence, you have to do eight levels and then enough skill to compete. on the british gt the gt4 mclaren paddock was missing the right front headlight so you'll say there's front to back contact that way but both cars should be flat through the cranes so the closing speed doesn't It should be a problem and it seems to have gone down. The interior then wobbled and, unfortunately, the wobbles simply dragged it into the geneta.
It's really a pure racing incident, there's no malice there and it's just unfortunate. Oh, the timing of that is so unfortunate. Potentially cold tires. The wheeler was completely innocent. There was a car. gap in that interior, but unfortunately that moment we had at the apex just sent him there, which was very unfortunate. The mclaren for me is 50 50 whether it's damage they need to repair or they could make it to the end without a headlight. It's not ideal, it will create more drag, but it won't be a mechanical issue, I hope it's as unfortunate, a combination of cold tires and also lifting just as it went over the crest, the rear end goes light and it turned around. poor old joe wheeler completely innocent of all that that's already being investigated uh by the race director i can tell you so we'll let you know as they make some decisions now mike ligo seems like one of the spiciest drivers on the grid, lo We saw Mark Sansom do that brilliant move in Melbourne Heaven.
Since then he crowned it when Richard Williams leaves. The second consecutive race in which Williams went off the track in the early part of their stint, they started on pole. I remember at Silverstone he had a spin in the village and here at Donington the Audi is going slow going up the hill yeah it's not happy when we first cut it, the headlights were off and then they came on and I just saw it go off. Again, on the old fork it seems like it's a little wide and has a lot of grip at the time, you grab the curb and then all of a sudden it turns into that dust, essentially now it's dry and it's just spreading and these cars are very complex or even running backwards for a split second will confuse the system and think you have a problem with wheel speed and I think it looks like you are trying to turn the car off and on so basically turn it off and on again, it sounded good in that fire. up and it looked like it had some pace so fingers crossed they can go, that car is so fast I'm not going to rule it out just yet, we've got two hours and 55 minutes left but they've got pace to accelerate so make it interesting. to see how they do well, like I said, he had a spin on his first few laps at Silverstone and still came back to finish on the podium, so yeah, absolutely another three hour race, all the strategy you can play, certainly, without discard them.
However, what that means is that it is now the fight for the lead in the GT4 category because it will be Jamie Day uh in Aston Martin's first season of racing in the championship for him and the team, with Marco Señoretti behind. Again in his first season in British GT, the Canadian driver is getting used to this Mustang and this is a circuit where both the Aston and the Mustang have had previous successes. Yes, definitely, as you continue on board you see how the dusk gets a kick in the face. one because it's the quickest way to turn around, but it's nice to do to the guy behind you not to let him see where you're going at all and we see the hidden BMW too, so we've got three cars here, they can look pretty good. similar but they will feel very different and have seen the BMW looking particularly bold and when you think about what these cars are doing to generate their lap time, it's amazing that you can make three such similar cars at such a high pace. varied lap here at Donington yes and we saw much the same at Silverstone, in fact these three cars put together a very good battle at Silverstone last time, now Señoretti is under pressure here because he has Will Burns' BMW of the century just behind.
He and Will Burns know how strong he is, so he gets a good exit out of the chicane. Wilburns, the reigning Century Motorsport gt4 champion, is now in for second place, dropping to the top Melbourne Hairbid exit of the inside line of the chicane. at the hairpin, yeah, interesting job and I'm not trying to catch anyone here, but Burns actually cut in turn 10 the right side of the chicane to a point where he was definitely at the illegal track limits, but got an advantage when overtaking, it's really a difficult one because you get a warning for the track limit, but if you get an advantage, you really shouldn't take a place where you're really about to know if it was just a road limit. clue or was getting an unfair advantage, so Peter Daley. our seven-minute race director already has to make a pretty big decision for me up there, uh, yeah, and there's quite a few things to pay attention to, too.
We said that at that moment the manager of the Paddock Motorsport team, which is being investigated, has been summoned to race control to discuss that contact between car 26 and geneta number 56, so he will burn out and then climb to second place. In the BMW, you'll be working your way down through the old hairpin, Señoretti, trying to get back here, although on board with the Ford Mustang the V8 rumbles as you carry speed up the hill that thing really has some ponies in a straight line, does it? doesn't force your trucks to defend themselves at mclean's but then drives like a dream too? good mid turn speed for the mustang can't overlap in the scrub but here again there's a good opportunity Joe to get back down the backstretch yes definitely obviously turns in reverse from the previous lap where the BMW was behind him, now that we're on board. so tight to the car in front that you will get the fumes from the exhaust, the heat from the engine and the brakes, so suddenly an already hot race car becomes like a carbon monoxide sauna and it is hard work and if you have Con an hour period ahead, some of these guys will have to pace themselves and again we see that the pimp is taking advantage of cutting the corners a bit.
I'll mention track limits a lot, so let me explain a little bit, you'll get four. warnings per hour, on the fifth violation, you get a drive-through penalty which here at Dodge Park equates to about 18 seconds of driving through pit lane at 30 miles per hour, so it's very hard to know how hard I can Press the risk versus reward on your purists as we get back to the GT3 leaders and it looks like they have their own track, the gap up now clocking in at 4.7 seconds, so these guys really are in a class of their own right now.
Moment in time of their shifts, uh, yeah, on the horizon though looms the GT4 package and as soon as they catch the traffic, that's when things can really start to change, still in third place, there, fourth in the green Lamborghini, uh, there's Richard Neary and then. michael i go, so i got ahead of sean balf's audi, i go to the one that's moving and richard neary actually seems to be biding his time here a little bit right now, i don't know if maybe the car isn't quite under him, but Richard we are used to seeing him shoot inside at every opportunity, he takes a very tight line coming out of the Melbourne hairpin and in fact he will have to go from attack to defense very soon, yes, and that's when you get that sandwich effect, a Sometimes you lose a better pace because the car in front slows you down and then suddenly the driver behind has the race and in these circumstances you really need to be positive and be on the front foot if you're the guy, moving forward you're not just going to lose , you're not going to lose position, sorry, but you're also not going to get any contact from the potential rear group, so you really need to hunker down and see what you've got.
It looks like even the books maybe found a bit of a rhythm, they just did a purple sector on this lap which means it's the fastest sector we've had in the race so far and it will be interesting now to see how the cars change not only the tire pressure but also The fuel burns, but we don't know what fuel each of these cars has. They might be full of fuel, so they could make it in the region of 65 minutes, or they might be low on fuel, so they're faster, but obviously their window gets smaller. For his strategy, it's actually a good point and, once again, he's one of the joys of not having set pit windows.
You can be a lot freer in what you do to the car, Matt Topham, here, fourth in GT4 in the number 27 Aston Martin. but he's got a big traffic jam behind him, now keep in mind that Matt is a bronze rated driver , a complete driver and surrounded here by silver rated drivers, has behind him tom edgar and tom rawlings andthen to ross wiley and will orton as Well, four very fast drivers behind him and they just can't find their way now, given that the Aston Martin is strong here at Donington, we know that, but still an impressive job by Matt Topham to hold on to that fourth position in the GT3 while the race leaders above.
For Goddard and I agree with you Joe, this is going to be a good lap, it could be a new fastest lap of the race for Morgan Tilburg, he passes and yes, he goes purple 127.8, three times faster than the leader , four tenths behind at the Redgate corner. he is catching, yes he is faster, where is the mclaren strong on the circuit compared to the mercedes? Can you use that to make a move? For me, the Mercedes is strong in sector two, so the sector coming in now is quite even in sector one. I can see at that point sector three, it really depends on the grip of the car, the front engine of the Mercedes has a better entry into the corner where the weight distribution is and the fact that the mclaren has a mid engine along with a chassis of Carbon fiber means traction is really strong, so this final sector we're going to enter after the next right turn of the coppice should be where the McLaren can start to excel.
What I would say to Morgan is now on the top right button of the steering wheel we are looking at. before is turn on the lights be on the cottingham mirrors you don't need to blink you don't need to be an angry audi driver in the fast lane on the m1 but you just need to show yourself just show intent that's all About that, we see that the brakes They close, so maybe the Mercedes uses a little more fuel and that brake zone gets longer due to a little extra weight. It's pure speculation, you can see it going inward.
I thought I was defending but then the Audi GT4 comes into view and gives you a great idea of what we love about multicast racing in the British GT and it's about to get even more entertaining because as these cars They're heading to Goddard, I can tell you the rest of the gt4 package just disappeared. through red, so a couple more laps and they'll be right on the tail of that one, what was the battle for fourth place in gt4? I just had a change for second place in gt4 and in fact marco Señoretti came back ahead of will burns as they are in fact already there. at the back of GT4 traffic and this is where it gets interesting.
See, Scottingham takes the tight line towards Redgate's corner anticipating that he might have gone up the inside of the team brick. McLaren didn't and that means he's slow on the start to Brook. approaching and if you approach Brooke, you know that this is a good opportunity to overtake, but you also have to keep in mind that we are not even 15 minutes into this race and we are going for a 50.50 attacks now it is not really advisable, it is definitely very difficult to be leader. The first guy that passes all these gt4 cards once they're in a battle, those gt4 guys, the drivers will naturally look ahead, not in their mirrors, so if the teams have.
I warned them and we saw it being held up by the mclaren gt4 in the x-in which is giving the gt3 a chance. The cotton looks quite positive. Do you see that the mclaren has a big slide to get out of there? It is, yes, cotton. He seems positive about their defense, it seems like they are telling him to defend the position even if it wastes his time. It seems that the track position is more critical for that Mercedes of two seas at the moment, yes, because it is not the widest circuit, as long as it covers the inside when entering the corner and does not open too much on the exit, it won't be easy for Tildebrook to pass at any point, certainly not on the inside line at any given corner, slightly different lines there outside the Melbourne hairpin.
Narrower line for Tillbrook. Now you see he was waiting for this. The headlight flashing has been good. We all know that this guarantees nothing more than irritating the driver in front. I have very rarely seen drivers make mistakes when they start turning on their headlights. For them, anything is just a kind of spur to stimulate them, isn't it? Yeah, I mean, flashing is always a dangerous activity and on the track it's a bit difficult too, we're really starting to have some limits on the track like war and worse. being close, he's already on his third warning in 15 minutes, so he has two more and then he'll have a drive-through and it's going to be very difficult for him not to do it, we're looking at it very tight and that's close, I'm talking about that one does not count as a track limit just for reference, that is the nature of multiclass racing, the geneta wants to pass the mclaren and then the mercedes, that is a late lunch and that is going to then lift the mclaren gt4 which allows the genetics that allow the lambo to open three times on a stretch of track that is literally three cars wide, this is getting tight and nasty, we both subconsciously turned away from the monitor and when we saw what was happening it was almost certainly avoided contact thanks to some very good driving, by everyone involved, but yes, good point, the GT4 cars are fighting for position, especially at this point in the race, and if they see an opportunity to overtake someone for whom They are competing. position, even if it means getting in the way of the gt3s, they are going to do it now at the Hair Bin Century Motorsport first is the speed works from Toyota here, side by side, going up the hill that is number nine in Tom Rawlings. and tom edgar in the toyota, this has been a brilliant battle between the two and they have been in close contact on at least one occasion, we think they are already here coming down the hill, a late move to defend and work the body.
I think the rear of the Toyota was like this, yeah, to me it looks like probably the GT4's diffusion cover is much more road cars, probably like a piece of plastic trim almost around the top of the diffuser to the bottom. bottom of the bumper, it did not. It looks particularly structural with how light it flew in the air. I don't imagine much performance loss. Actually as a driver I would be greedy and think I could have lost four kilos of weight with the car and for reference that can be added to the car at the end of the race if it was running and I think what you lose in the Racing adds to the weight, you can't make the doors fall off on purpose, but it's just one of the rules of motorsports, okay?
You may have gotten away with it, certainly, through the first high-speed sector, the Toyota was strong, but they are all wider, but they claim and they will also alternate turning sideways there and their team parks the racing Porsche. He's stuck behind Ross Wiley in the Porsche Veluga and, uh, them. they are fighting for 7th place in gt4, it has the brick mclaren team that is also in the crater corners, eh, that car driven by aaron morgan in the first stint, while the race leaders have now returned to this battle in gt4 this is another chance for morgan tilbury cottingham will be delayed here through the chicane until brook didn't come out of the chicane well enough although he and cottingham should be safe in melbourne.
Yes, the client was again smart about who the defense was and didn't want to get ahead of me. Block the middle. so try to look like you didn't see him for a split second then you turned and again the customers got the best advantage that Gilbert really needs to try to plan his route so he needs to be aware of the potential dangers Cotton is facing and maybe even be able to open a corner more than you would exaggerate the line and then get a better drive, therefore exit speed and that's your chance, but that typifies the British GT for me, that headshot in the The pit straight is carnage, but somehow separate GT3 and GT4 races have often been called.
As far as I'm concerned, it's the worst idea in the world. It's this multi-class element of British GT racing that adds so much interest. Now look at the way that gap. has skyrocketed as Tilburg lagged much further behind in that large amount of traffic than cottingham. As a driver you have to hope that this evens out during the race, but certainly on that lap Tilburg lost, they were three quarters of a second behind. Back at the line and even more so now as they climb the hill, Ian Loggie perhaps doesn't realize how lucky he was there not to have contact with the number nine BMW of Tom Rawlings which was very close when Tom bounced off. the curbs but ian loggie was pulling ahead even though he remembers being in third place and having a good stint so far, sometimes it almost feels like you're trying to thread the needle blindfolded wearing oven mitts, there's so much going on things, spaces are always disappearing and evolving in that sense and it's very difficult not to waste time like you said, I mean, uh, Tilburg lost twice as much difference to cotton in sector one alone, because of the traffic, it will be in the radio claiming innocence to the team who aren't doing a bad job and it's just bad luck, but the ebb and flow of this race will really start to get interesting as they come back, they've almost passed all the GT4 cars for the first time. time, yes, yes. and we're not even 20 minutes in yet, so they're going to do a lot more of this.
In fact, the number of traffic-free laps they have between now and the end of the race can probably be counted on one hand. Richard is almost here behind Tom Rawlings, meanwhile, doctor, sorry, Tom Edgar, Tom Rawlings is being investigated for an incident he had with car 40. That's Nick Holstead's mclaren gt3, so presumably he was holstered as he passed. to give him and rawlings a spin, uh, making a little bit of contact with the mclaren that's being investigated at the moment, i think it might be a typo, i think it must be car number 48 with a toyota, i think it was a little contact we saw. with the body coming off there probably won't be any further investigation but it's interesting that Toyota has now overtaken the BMW and actually has some pace.
You can see that gap there as I'm going on the grass turning there, the cars going 130 miles an hour there and the confidence. to turn that into the grass, there are some, yes, big space jumpers sitting in that scene and these are, i remind you, us am drivers in gt3 don't really like to call mountains, but we have to, that's the terminology , but some They are all really good, in fact they are all really good and, with some teaching from their professional drivers and their teams, they get better and better with each race and become safer.
That's the most important thing with an amp driver, isn't it? I can make them fast, yes, okay, you can teach them what to do in the car to go fast on the track, but that confidence that racing nails is something that can only be learned over time, yes, definitely, the last round of Silverstone which I was running in and Now they're talking about Nick Moss, a guy I work with a lot. My job is to extract the performance from him in any way he can, so you feel like a school and elementary school teacher most of the time that you have to teach them. the basics and developing that confidence and you're really trying to find something that you can use.
We have

live

videos on board so we can watch and guide you in time like definitely overtaking the gt4 car here or wait just wait take your time so the professionals They will all be on the pizza car radios talking to their apps trying to help them because every time they find out is that the pro will also be higher up the field, uh, yes, in fact, oh Rich Mary, again I think about going for a A bit of a risky move, Will Burns now goes to the inside of the BMW, to the old head, with that BMW still in third place in GT4.
Jamie Day pulls away in a GT4, now 4.1 seconds behind that car we just passed. Marco Señoretti's Academy Ford Mustang Such a big lead for Jamie Day might have benefited slightly from the arrival of the GT3 cars, but his pace is pretty impressive right now at 36.3, Seniority matched him on the previous lap, won't this one However, there's time because he opens up there as Michael, I go through him and catch him almost now, that's a fight you'd buy a ticket for, wouldn't you? That would be for fifth place if you can get there, yeah, in between I go. and niri, I only see three losers from that one, it won't be that the aggressive fireworks are strong, almost what we've seen this season really seems to have increased their level of aggression and is borderline acceptable, as we've seen.
He was given some sanctions, I have spoken to Richard, he has declared his innocence to me and I understand that, but there is a bit of hostility potentially out there if I don't want to be a little gossip, something interesting, okay, racing drivers have a disagreement I probably don't like it, uh, Goddard, the GT4 battle for second place arrives and Señoretti brakes late, a little late, there he almost manages to exit the curve ahead of Will Burns, but thistremendous battle for second place rages. in will burns three times a winner in oh richard neary is in oh no it doesn't matter we're not going to have that fight now it looks like it's a scheduled stop i didn't see any obvious problems with the car richard gave to sam neary they're putting the gas in on this, it seems planned, I hope so, it seems planned, there is no visible damage on the car, it seemed that the team is ready, the refueler was covered with the fuel, so the pit stop process on the car british dt stop the engine off, take it out, close the door with fuel when the fuel runs out, then the driver change resumes and you change the tires at the same time, there is a minimum pit stop, so if the stop in pit is clean, in fact there is probably still between 20 and 25 seconds left before the car goes out into the pit lane.
The interesting thing about that strategy is that I would say that Neri was lacking fuel, so he would potentially be 40 to 60 kilos lighter in the cars than if they were. Full of fuel, it was racing again so maybe the pace of that other car wasn't as strong as we see the star car also seems planned and I understand their logic: they are in pole position so they can run light. and maybe pull away and get a little gap, that plan unfortunately fell apart from the start as they have their spin so all these strategists who have been working hard all week to get the perfect strategy unfortunately one idiot driver like I get in and that Suddenly everything flies out the window uh when we see a fluid circulating around the outside of the gt4 car without wasting too much time for, go for number nine interesting I called it like a racing incident yes, well, I want say, I'll stick with the racing incident, I'm happy to be controversial because he, for me, the charge fights back aggressively but cleanly, the BMW then returned to the racing line and just caught the rear, so yeah, the contact happened, but I mean, it's a heavy penalty so early in the race and the thing with a penalty in motorsport there's no var that you can't check, so that's it, it's black and white where it's going to comply and it will be A long day for BMW, indeed.
It's a real shame, oh my god, this is Mia Floyd and Neary aren't making the best of friends. Sam is almost fresh out of the pits, of course, and he knows that he is now faster than many of the professional drivers on the track. So Sam Neary then got stuck he hadn't even been on the track ten seconds there and he was banging on doors, with the McLaren interesting to see his pace, so they sacrificed his track position and they'll have to give it to Richard. a longer stint later, but they clearly feel that by having their fastest driver come in early, they pitted only 21 minutes into the race, they clearly think that that will be the strategy that will send them to the front because if he now in the car for 20 minutes, maybe before the other one starts launching, I could easily come out of this first round of pit stops as race leader, yes definitely, the most important thing for strategy for me and studying these races if you stop early and the safety car comes out, it means you have definitely made a pit stop under green flag conditions.
If you can make a pit stop under the safety car, you don't lose much, you lose track position, but not much every time there is a safety car. and you can pit, you've won, so they've committed to a strategy that won't work if there's a safety car because they won't be able to use it because we need Richard back in the car for that long. Longer than his other arms he's competing against, yeah, you don't remember either of them. The driver can do over 100 minutes, so Sam Neary will try to get as close to that 100 as possible, but that still leaves 80 minutes to go.
Richard Near. He's only done 20 of those minutes, so he needs another hour in the car, basically, before the end. of the race there goes alex malikin seventh place then for the red line car what's going on here this is marco's seniority and look at the mess on the track from that uh uh early shouldn't between the paddock mclaren and uh geneta a lot of styrofoam all over the road it won't cause any damage to the car but it will be a distraction yes definitely it can get stuck in the cooling brakes or the radiators and it goes there so we have a replay here for Nick Jones to push down. nick houston interesting, I actually don't think there was contact there, it seems like let's take a look, this is the perfect camera view and come on, oh, the slightest contact, I'm not very good at calling this today, I'm right, so Once again it looks like a Vincent race to me simply for the fact that Nick Jones didn't get a lead, there was a legitimate gap there to begin with, he put the nose of that Porsche down there, Nick House has to turn himself in at some point. and there was contact.
Nick did a great job of just creating a slide, not a spin, and Nick Jones doesn't like to take any legacy damage from that, or in my opinion, he actually lost a position there for Mia to fly on the next lap. Yeah she flew driving good and they're both getting caught by the striptease supervisor there too so this is 12th, 13th, 14th place, mia flew and just took that 12th place away from the park racing team, the Porsche team Parker, of course, got his most recent career. Victory in British GT here at Donington a couple of years ago, it was with the best continentals, but Nick Jones and Scott Mulvaney won in a sort of wet and dry race here at Donington, uh, she was in it.
I think I remember Joe and what a career. It was and team parker were looking to try and recreate something of that form again in much nicer conditions here today almost half an hour into round four of the smart friends british gt championship james cottingham maintains a one second lead over morgan tilbruck in the leader of the field, the number four mercedes, ahead of the number 77 mclaren with ian logging on in the third lasting gt4, it remains the r racing aston martin of ju uh james day uh who leads the way in 17th place overall for that car, the second is the car that Now we are on board with Marco Senioretti's four mustangs and he, for the moment, at least seems to have gotten rid of Will burning his BMW.
They're still pretty close to the road and Señoretti isn't under as much pressure now as he was a few years ago. Minutes ago, yeah, I think you've seen that there are no GT3 cars in the shot, so it shows that they've had a couple of clean laps just to see what their pure pace is over and over again, that's the ebb and flow of that. I speak and you. You just have to try to create this space while you can because traffic will stop you again as we capture a shot of the dk car actually stopped by the m4 gt3 so same class but different pace and the problem is when you catch a slower car of the same class, they have the same power so it's harder to move and I think that's why we saw such a big hold up there for the Mercedes and before we know it again, they need books on the rear bumper. them, yes, it has never been more than a second and a half this gap, but it regularly drops to about half a second or so when the Tilburg traffic approaches, but again, frustrating for him, he just can't find a way to pass .
By the way, penalty for the Toyota, so Tom Edgar got a ride for not respecting the track limits. We're hearing now that it's within the first half hour of the race. It's the chicane where he's been doing it. That's where most people have been. pinging the track limits this weekend and well, Tom Edgar, the first to get a penalty for it, yeah, it's hard for you to stay like I'm stating the obvious here, it's just not acceptable this early in the season. race, you have to do it. She sails close to the wind, but you can't capsize your boat that early and now she's got a mountain to climb in 18 seconds and when you're cutting the corner at turn 10 and she's maxed out, you're finding two tenths of a second, so if you've Made five of them, found a second and now only lost 18.
I'm not very good at math, but it's still a bad investment for your return and I think we should be careful here. I think there will potentially be a lot of self-service, especially towards the end of the hour, right before those limits are reset. Yes, exactly, we'll be keeping an eye on that, certainly, it's early, as you say, for people to get them. Some sort of penalty brings the gap back up momentarily, but as we've said, it continues to ebb and flow as they catch traffic in different parts of the circuit. I'm impressed with James Cotingham, he hasn't put a foot wrong here so far, nor has Morgan Tilbrook.
In fact, two of the least experienced drivers we have in the championship are putting on a good show at the front and have proven that they are ten seconds ahead of me and have achieved third place. this for a while and these two are really showing them how it's done right now you can't even see ian logging in that shot he in turn is four seconds ahead of adam ballen who still has i go balf and maliakim . uh, in pretty close company behind him, but uh, yeah, whatever two seas and uh enduro are doing, it's working, yeah, and to touch on the point you raised earlier about these amateur drivers, it sounds derogatory, it's not What they are, they have real jobs.
Nowadays they can't sit in a race car like me trying to practice every day of the week, but it's interesting that we only have one pro right now: Sam Neary Sam's Quick, the fast car. Richard was the fastest. the lap time is even slower than those two leading cars with fans itself, I may be in a bit of traffic, I may not have new tires, for example, since I go to parliament, ah, that was the clumsiest incident, oh, this is like Monaco being awkward, right? At the Lowe's hairpin Balan was completely innocent here I go he didn't look like he wanted to be there right at the last second so the headlights flash potentially unseen by the mclaren a bit like I said at that point where it's on the first vertex.
There he tried to back up and then couldn't get his car to evaporate fast enough. Basically, the best he could do is wait for Bannon to give him his spot back. I don't know if that will be longer than a trip. -passed, but unfortunately I think that will lead to a penalty, unfortunately, even if it gives Balon a place back, several others also passed, in fact Balan hasn't reached the line yet, so maybe he will be out of the top 10, maybe even. with damage or even if you return the spot the balance will still be off so there is still likely to be a penalty given the 11th spot for ball and that lap was about 30 seconds slower so I guess he had trouble getting back to turn the thing on. and he lost a huge amount of time and 30 seconds even in a three hour race.
He's not going to recover from that. Yeah, and I know they weren't in the lead at the time or even in the leading group, but they were our race winners at Silverstone and I saw them way ahead of me, so they were very competitive there, so that's Potentially one of our winners out of the mix, you see the dusk lifted by that one fan car. and dirty, he is going to try, I think he is getting faster and in proportion, I am going to say that in the next laps we will see a possible change of leader, I think the McLaren looks a little stronger, perhaps taking care of himself.
His tires are a little better, maybe we're already half an hour into the race, of course both cars are way ahead of the rest of the field so I can't imagine they're in a big rush to make a choice, so yeah Morgan. He might have to try to do this on the track, there's half a second between them again, but now they're back in clean air and Cottage might try to stretch their legs. Yes, actually you see a little polystyrene on the front of the cotton and splitter so the right front of the kite here that noise passes through the curbs everything that is the car hitting bottom we have seen that they call a car from safety we haven't seen anything on the cameras yet sometimes it may also be in the pit lane they will stay Full throttle until a yellow flag appears and depending on where the incident is, it is actually quite late in the lap, the Security will pick them up on the launch straight, but they're still about 45 seconds away if you're leading the race.
Now Joe, you come into the pits because you want to try to make one of these stops under the safety car. Fine, but you have to make sure the safety car is there. It sounds obvious, the safety car is cooled, but it happens rarely, but I've seen it. There are some occasions where the safety car does not pick up the leader and if it did pick it, it would not benefit from the safety car being there. We've seen a lot of guys come into the pits early and like I just said, if you're not inthe back of the train, the safety car win is not that big and, for me, those guys come into the pits a little bit earlier.
I still see them running, turning on the lights, if the yellow flags are off, they are allowed to stay still. I'll be racing the pace car there in the first quarter, it's ready to pick you up. There are a few cars between the leader and them, so it will be a bit of qualifying. There are definitely yellow flags that have passed in front of three. I've seen it, so I think Morgan Tilburg is so obsessed with it in the back of the Mercedes that maybe they didn't see it, but James didn't come out either and they both died in pit lane, so these are the two best cars in the race. race that are thrown into the pits.
I have already had mclaren paddocks in fox motorsport mclaren also in rocket rjn. I can see that the uh gt4 front drivers have also pitted, in fact all the top four gt4 cars are there, it makes a lot of sense to choose now because you lose. much less track position when pitting behind the safety car, so in gt3s the minimum pit stop time is 110 seconds, in gt4 it is 140 and if you are a silver cup car in gt4, there is An additional 14 seconds can be added to that, so again, it's a little bit less. More time is lost doing that under the safety car than under green flag conditions.
There are no success penalties yet, although they are only added to the third and final pit stop. I haven't seen a single car pass us on the country straight, so everyone's like I said, I think someone should roll the dice and go catch the pace car and see where it goes on the food chain. We have seen a lot of debris on the runway here and sometimes it can seem small. those pieces, but they're carbon fiber and they're sharp, so if you run over them with your tire, there's a good chance it'll get a puncture, interesting.
I just saw Sam Neary Box again, so he's bringing Richard back, so there's that. It's a bit of a left-wing strategy. Now they will have to do two hours and 26 minutes with just one fuel stop for the frugal Mercedes, but it is very difficult to do it with an additional fuel stop. That's interesting, yeah, because that. Was my next question: would they now choose to sit out and try to make up some track time? But of course yes you said I would pit early if you then get a safety car, I'd rather put you on the defensive so we'll see if that's worth it of course they can save a bit of fuel behind the safety car , but if it's just for the debris, it won't be a long safety car period, so that might even limit your opportunity to do it.
I heard that there are no cars outside, so it's just to pick up the drop off that has been distributed around the circuit. Great stop for the um enduro team. Pretty slow coming out of the pits, like they were worried it would be too fast considering these two cars. came from nose to tail and back again, it's a suspiciously big game for the 77 car. I understand your logic, uh, the pit stop timer is 1.3 seconds away from safety, since you see the dk car going very slow, potentially There was a red light on. At the start, the safety car passed, I think it was red and then it changed to green because the train of cars was very small behind and I think what happened here is that the pit position of those two cars was so compromised that they would have lost time. at his pit stop and the enduro car just did well and, more importantly, got in front of the safety car and gained a full lap behind.
The problem is that now we should get a shoutout for everyone who is not the leader, unfortunately the leader. it's going to be one of the last cars so it might be a bit of a long safety car because they're going to have to let everyone recover so it's a short safety card for the debris that's gone so look at the space he's in, so right now he'll be a lap ahead, but he's the leader. It's a big career control decision here about what they do. I don't have a right or wrong answer, but I know what I prefer.
Look, for the next two hours and 20 minutes of racing, I'd be surprised if they didn't wave to everyone else. What was he saying about this being a short safety car period? That won't be the case now, will it? Of course, they'll just flag them down so they can pick up the GT3 leader. What it can do and probably will do is really mix up the GT4s because some of the GT4s might get stuck a lap further back because they are behind. the gt3 leader so it will take a few laps to get rid of all this but we have seen in the past that gt4 racing really goes crazy for the safety cars mid race yeah like we said we always talk about the leader and the leader.
It's normally a GT3 car so they're really the dictator, let's see if that arm comes out of the safety car to greet that Mercedes um, it's going to be interesting, the only other thing I'm a little nerdy about and excited about is that the strategy that abba has made will mean that his pro is the least behind the safety car, so at the moment all GT3 cars and the predominant amount of GT4 have their pros behind the safety car, so that safety car, let's say, lasts probably eight. minutes, if we do a wave, that's eight minutes of pro time that you won't get against Abba's car and if we see maybe a second half, two seconds difference, that could be the difference in getting that avocado back, although it's so interesting. dynamic when we got there, we've seen some cars still coming into the pits, um, yeah, this is going to be interesting, yeah, Nick Jones, who had taken the race lead technically, that's because he hadn't stopped yet.
Put some tank tape on the left front corner of that car, which is a legacy of the contact they had with Ballon. We haven't heard anything yet about him being investigated, I imagine he probably is, but with the safety car drama, that's not apparent yet. Coming to us, it's a good thing they went to the trouble of purchasing red tank tape to match the red bodywork of the wpi car, so it doesn't stand out as much at the team's park runs when making its stop and you. I can now see that the first car behind the safety car is car number four, now with Lewis Williams at the wheel.
And I think probably once everyone has stopped and all the marshals are off the track because of course the marshals have been there. clearing up the debris uh most likely say hello to everyone, I mentioned it on gligo and that contact he had with Adam Ballen earlier in Ballon took the car back to the pit lane and now he's down there with Brim Adam, it was a disappointment. What it's like for you, I mean, you look absolutely distraught about it, tell us what happened. Well, I had a couple of bad laps, so I was a bit bad, but he just threw me into the Melbourne Loop, I mean, he was miles away. it was never on and it made me spin it was like oh so irritating it's destroyed well here's the replay tell us from your point of view yeah so i understood there was a gt4 car inside i got a reasonable run . at that point I went inside and that's my line and he just marked me, I mean it's obvious he's not even close to the nose in front of me, it's obvious what he was going to do, turn the corner and he just goes for it Inward, he knows.
He's going to spin me too, that's what there's nothing you can do too, but from the car after that there was a lot of damage, does it still feel good? I think the car felt good, it was actually down a little bit. but overall it's fine. I left a lot of carbon on the next lap. I didn't want to run over it and get a puncture, which would have been a real irony. I know it's gutting, but fingers crossed you can get back out there and try again, yeah. Looking forward to seeing what Sandy can do, yeah thanks uh Bryn, a pretty unhappy Adam Ballon understandably mentioned to Joe that he left some debris behind, which is the debris that has been cleared and that led to the safety car that changed completely the The complexion of this breed, yes, and I think he called it well.
Adam is actually a very calculated guy. You can see that he's angry, but he's not furious, and I think I feel sorry for him in that sense, just as I realize that he. he said he said right hand down, that means the steering wheel was not straight after contact and then the hit he would have had on his right rear tire could have knocked off the toe link suspension so the tire is probably pointing a bit. a little bit, what's the best way to really have it in terms of tire wear and performance, but it can make the car feel a little

live

ly, so we're trying to pick up here the car that still catches up to the safety car, the 42 cars. here with his previous spin, this has truly been a godsend for him and now it's allowing him to waste all that time by sending the car ready for the restart.
He'll go as fast as he can but still respect the yellow flag, so that's it. Why does the nasty McLaren 76 behind look a bit racial? He just wants to make sure that he definitely catches the train if when we get back to Greece, yeah, then the Audi will be a little lucky. Here they are descending and returning. the car is now not, no, it's on the same lap as the class leaders, so yes, that will definitely benefit them unless of course they then pull away from the safety car, in which case they'll essentially get that lap back over there.
There hasn't been a wave yet around the top three cars in the overall race in GT3, our enduro racing, followed by car 76. Now I noticed that the car entered the pits a little out of sequence with the others for about a minute and went out. in second place according to our timing speed with third place for the parker porsche team but again that will probably fall once you finally complete your pit stop but there will always be winners and losers in these situations and the difference here is that you are winning or wasting huge amounts of time instead of a couple of seconds.
Yes, I still maintain that he was right in the statement that the cars stopped too early under the safety car because they hadn't caught the safety car, so you don't understand that. delta effect, the problem I think they realized is that the safety car was going to be short, it should have been short and they may have missed it, so they are already greeting them, which is good, great news , I was afraid if they didn't get the signal we were going to have very few so all the cars will get there until we pick up the enduro car so there may be some cars between the enduro car and the rest of the gt3 field but the most important thing is that they will all be on the same lead lap so I think the biggest winner is actually the 76 car of Fluent and Hanky because they were outside the top 10 and now they will be a legitimate second place, the next big winner, our new race leaders. the mclaren enduro and then probably the biggest emotional loser will be the dk car two seas mercedes that was leading and it looks like it will most likely be third or fourth depending on where the auto parker has been placed, but yeah, I'm sticking with it. that that extra lap behind the safety car is the reason why the mclaren 76 and the porsche parker have moved up the positions, I think you're right, yes they were a lap later than the others, they just noticed that Seto Motorsport came back too , Trigartha.
He jumped into the car behind the safety car, reached the tail and then pitted again to hand it over. We can mark Sansom, so it's interesting that he was in the car for nine minutes. He will activate. There is a very short opening stint. Now it looks like this is scheduled? It seems they have changed the driver. Maybe they have refueled a little. They certainly won't bother changing the tires, so now they can sit there and wait, but they are interested to know if Brink can do it. head over to a setter and see if you can figure out the thought process here and just see the mod to pick twice within the same safety card period you're just burning one of those mandatory pit stops so if you can if They think they can achieve it.
Until the end of the race now with only one additional fuel stop, so divide this period into half a minute and eight, that's definitely doable, a bit of fuel savings and if there is none, no other safety car and everyone else has to make two pit stops. They have to stay in green, that car and the abacar in a bit of a left field strategy and you tend to find that if you are outside the top ten you have nothing to lose, it's the podium or nothing really in this type of racing, so You can also try that left field strategy and there's a race car driver with his toys outside the stroller.
I'm not in the top ten, so yeah, okay, keep stopping me, let's get rid of these really slow mandatory pit stopsand laborious that you see. the cars have to do yes because of course under green you lose a lap from a pit stop here they will stay on the lead lap so it's a free pit stop uh mark by the way sold out moxanson this is It took about half an hour. of your allotted time as a driver so yes you will have to do it a little less than an hour but yes you need to make sure because you will have some sort of restriction now as to how far you can push the fuel because there is only so much left. limited driver time, so it will be a calculation that I don't have the brain capacity to make at the moment, but I'm sure the team is working on it, yes, you're right, the only other thing. is that the rule is 100 minutes max, yeah they won't be able to max out the wheelchair land this time, he's only done eight minutes so he still has 92 minutes left, there's no way the car will last an hour and 32 minutes on fuel, so now the Amm will have to do more time than it should strategically do to make it a one-stop race, so now you are weighing well whether Miami is a second and a half slower than the pro, but I don't do an additional mandatory race. which is the biggest winner and at this point it would definitely be another 25 minutes with the amp for me getting some information here from Britain to say that they actually underfueled the car so that's why it came back again so it wasn't necessarily planned expensive right now yes on the screen, although we are seeing the order of the race uh and uh you can see quite clearly a pit stop made by the leading cars the first car that has made more than one uh is the lamborghini wpi And there's still Michael Argo in that car, so I think they made a brief driver change to Phil Keane and you can see that car running much further down the order within GT4 because of the way Matt Cowley came out of all this. leading in the ford mustang with darren turner second for new bridge motorsport and uh then josh miller third fastest, third place sorry in gt4 too, roughly the same group of cars up there, although in a slightly different order within the gt4 category, yes.
Now we have the safety car lights off, just spotted, so safety, I'll be on this lap I guess, so we're looking at the leader, this is all correct, so we just have innocent GT4 cars on the road, essentially for those guys GT3. They're in his own race, so Morgan will feel sorry for Marcus. Now Clutton will back them up. I don't want to give away a strategy, but I should go as slow as I can to make the gap to the safety car as big as possible. so he can go as early as possible and use those slower gt4 cars to stop you and hanky in that mercedes so he wants to go early and the gt4 cars naturally won't be able to keep him and ewan in that mclaren that we carry.
We're just seeing that by turning now they can't overtake to the line, so I think Cotton might have a 12 to 15 second lead here at the end of the first round of flying, well let's see he certainly went early, right? hanky isn't even that close to the back of the pair of gt4 cars, one of which is the stella audi, so he got stuck behind the overall race leader, so he's almost a lap behind the rest of the gt4 competition, then marcus clutton. start the race again, fast forward to lap 29 of the race with just over 45 minutes later, there you and Hanky are trying to get inside the Fieldings Audi sedan, but he in turn was inside the geneta from Freddie Tomlinson, so you we were losing more time there, the gap on the line between first and second in gt3 was just under 4.3 seconds, probably went wide again though through Redgate, yeah, and we're seeing, sorry, oh, big block, it's just about saying, look, I'm going.
In the Lamborghini there is the Amway around all the pros and that created its own bottleneck, so he is essentially a lap down, but he has made an extra pit stop, so I'm not going to talk too much about that, it's too much. confusing what we are seeing. track here on the lead lap, mess, handkerchief from malvin's porsche and then our former race leader now in the hands of lewis williamson and he's weaving through traffic and then he has a mercedes behind him from callum mcleod also on the lead lap , so those are the group of cars all together, so let's see what pace these pros have now, we saw what the ants had, we have the airflow now completely upside down, as you see all the pros taking the corners a lot more that the application yes, scott malvin a little wide there in the parker porsche team that could give williamson a chance, it gives williamson the opportunity to go around the outside in the car that led for the first half hour of the race the car of safety and their slightly slow pit stop cost them that lead and now they are trying to get back to that second position, to that third position, I should say, back to the podium.
Williamson, at the end of the break, rolls to the back of the Parker team car leaving Gotham, there you can see. That rear-engine drive, the Porsche just seems to accelerate out of tight corners a little better and Williams and therefore isn't close enough to try braking into the red gate corner. The team manager by the way, car 18 has been summoned to race control. That's WPI Motorsport, I guess from contact with Barwell's car previously I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear a penalty for that car in the near future, yes, and I think, funnily enough, I've been told a million times not to. make.
I'm exaggerating, but the gap between Clutton and Hanky was six seconds, not as big as I thought it was going to be, but still a good gap Marcus has now. It can be accommodated in a stint, I imagine the car has fuel. Make the time that would be my strategy for this first pro period and then where we can see where we're going, so I'm going to do a 10 second stop. so the pit lane run 18 plus 10 28, I mean, I'm still aware of the fumble so i would accept it as a penalty if it was wpl, yes i think so, let's hope of course his car isn't damaged.
He's got that bit of tank, Dave, didn't he have it in the front left corner cape, right lead in GT4 held by Matt Cowley's Ford Mustang, but he's got Darren Turner on top? They showed us in the first of the race how well Matt Topham was doing. an am driver surrounded by drivers with silver classification now wheels in reverse caulia silva and taran turner a very professional driver, but cowley is not far behind and went through formula four 1600 races, among other things, he knows how to defend the position and I'm not going to turn around and let Turner come through here, no, definitely, and he's been in that car for a few seasons, so it's really good that he knows this circuit in that car, which will really give him the confidence to that he can have a fair fight here with the superstar. darren turner who is literally one of all things to win in sports car racing and is actually talking to the motorsports academy run by mustang team owner mcnichol jones about that car and donington really is the best circuit.
That car loves it here, so it was nice. confident of a win so let's not cast a commentator curse on him with over two hours to go, oh that was the BMW of the century overtaking this pair who almost cowardly forced him onto the wide line towards Redgate corner and he almost allowed Darren Turner to pass, uh, but Cowley with a good growl from the V8 engine under the hood of his Ford Mustang comes out of the red gate corner and cuts Darren's nose off to retain the class lead in WPI. By the way, he has been given a 10 second stop. penalty we saw coming so that'll be michael I'll go back to the pit lane uh that car's third visit to the field in this race but this time to comply with the actions pass the penalty through mclean's van essay senior cowley behind the wheel of the mustang just starting to pull away a little bit here from Turner, uh, but again, this will continue to develop as the GT3 cars, one by one, overtake them.
Yes, again I started watching the GT3 mix that is now coming back once again and I just look at the time. screens that everyone can access via tsl timing we have 12 gt3s still on the lead lap so we have a great race here. We just saw marcus clutter do the fastest lap of the race 26-5 and then for reference and hanky in the mclaren behind 27-3 so that enduro car that was in pole position let's forget it has a serious pace right now. That fastest lap, by the way, is a new official lap record here at Doddington Park by about a second faster than phil keane correct restart repeat this is on board with lewis williamson remembers he had that very close moment with the i go lamborghini that you can see two cars ahead and the brake lights come on, that is every driver's worst nightmare.
He did well to avoid contact with the top of the hill and, in the middle, I got stuck behind the Audi and in the Last second, Williamson intended to go inside or closed the gap over the area. breaks down there, I think I was intending to go there once the rear was locked, I had no choice, but I mean, the first tow truck breakdown is you expect to be pulling fifth gear there at 130 140 miles per time so you need to brake hard while we see more multi-class cloth racing there, genetics are really good at getting off track in that sense, that's really how luis proctor and greystone mclaren go through their cleanup.
He just saw the gap that he later gave him over the Mercedes battering ram. Suddenly it changes very quickly, but restarting the safety car is so difficult that you don't make those little clumsy mistakes and there was no contact. It was great driving by everyone involved. Car nine now receives a penalty. That's the second penalty for that car. I'm not sure what this one is for, but it's Chris Sulkeld behind the wheel at the moment of the century in motorsports. BMW and GT4 are sixth at the moment, but it won't be long before they reach the chicane.
Coming uh Cowley with uh turner behind him these two 16 seconds on the road now from josh miller are racing aston martin so somewhere that car that was leading before the pit stops remember that gt4 has lost a lot of time and that certainly won't help your chances. competing for his first win in the championship battle here for 11th place in gt3 joe said there are 12 gt3 cars on the lead lap, the last of them being the number 15 ram race car, the sister car to the number six with a new driver on board, John Ferguson, is still part of the team, but with Lisa Powell, uh, jumping in to replace Jamie Caroline, who has Lisa Powell, uh, competing in the GT World Challenge Europe series, this year won a race at Brands Hatch earlier this season.
He also had a third place in the British F3 championship a couple of years ago, so he's a fantastic star name for you to rent the championship, yes definitely, and it's interesting the unplanned driver change mid-season and that's hard for the team to do, but if The Driver doesn't move forward the way they want, the team will make that ruthless decision and Ulysses Powell, I mean, it's a brilliant name, it sounds like a strip club I've been to, but it's so fast he really has talent. I'm excited. having it in the series I always like it when our little British island attracts these great European drivers and we can see where we are in the food chain uh, yes, absolutely and uh, yes, things really very close, says BMW number nine from By the way , pit lane, as the battle for third place in GT3 heads back towards the red gate corner now, despite the pressure Williamson was applying a few laps to go to Scott Malvin Scott, the experienced driver he is now appears He's adapted, isn't he drifting away from the Mercedes again and Mulvane's lap times are actually quite comparable to all the cars around him?
He looks stronger now, yes, but he is on his last track limit warning, so one more misdemeanor will lead to him. Funnily enough, there's just over five minutes left until it resets, so I'm hoping the team or Scott are asking how long I have until my lives reset and I've become a new cat and can suddenly start cornering or run out, but Yes, if you do one more in the next three laps, it will essentially be a drive-through penalty, so it's very difficult to achieve this balance and right now we're seeing quite a few people fouling out.
Bobby Trundley here on to reach the leaders of the gt4 category, the mclaren gt4, then ahead of the first two in the class and again matt cowley has to put his elbows out to keep darren turner behind, he has not made any mistakes yet , matt cowley, but if you leave thatopen door, even a turner will pass through the gap in the blink of an eye and, uh, Darren again, with so many years of experience, he knows that patience is key here, the opportunity will present itself and you must be ready in everything the time uh to attack that could come here actually because trundle is almost defending here uh from matt cowley is putting the mustang out of line comes out of mclean's corner is there a space inside no quarterly doesn't he realize that these Are they the leaders of the race?
I'm not sure what's going on here. It's hard for the blue flags to be off, maybe not, but right now, if the team doesn't tell him, he won't know, so we can't blame him, but here it goes. get dirty pretty quickly, especially if he doesn't let go of Turner, even if he looks like he's going to attack for a second, I think the team would let him know that unfortunately that's not his fight today and they've let the guys go and all that, there's a Lamborghini overtaking everything too, very interesting, uh, three second penalty for car number eight, that's the closest, so they're on this weird alternative strategy, uh, and now they've had uh.
They've hit a snag here, a three second stop sounds like too short a pit stop, yes to me it's the only logical explanation, whatever you're under your pit stop usually adds up to a drive-through penalty. and the timing screens show one minute 47, so as you correctly said, that's three seconds less, but that's a 21 second loss of time, it's very difficult to maximize that minimum pit stop time, uh, yeah, no worth it uh the neat gate you do is it turner again nibbling on the back of the Ford Mustang here through Redgate Curve still frustratingly can't find a way between these two on the previous lap by the way we're a bit slower than the third-place Aston. josh miller's martin but he's under a lot of pressure uh from team number 65 parker porsche behind seb hopkins so the battle for third place in gt4 is as close as the fight for the race lead yeah it's really good to see we're watching a great battle, I think it is evolving in GT3.
I think when the ams come back we will see some fireworks because the pros are in a bit of a disjointed order, but unfortunately for us, I actually think they are in an order so that they seem to be on the right pace so we haven't seen an overtake, but when the ams come back now they're in a completely different order than how they finished the first one so I'm hoping the fireworks are on and then while the gt4 looks like it's going to bunch up like you said they're starting to stop between yeah those gt4 class leaders, there goes the red line, Lamborghini 7th place for them right now, this is actually the fight for 6th because Adam Carroll is ahead of James Dawson here, if you're James Dawl , I don't think you like your chances of getting sixth place.
We saw how good a defensive driver Adam Carroll was at Alton Park when he fended off Jule Gouda to win at Alton in the season opener, one of the best races in recent memory in British GT and Adam Carroll, very much the star of the Show. That being said, honey, it's getting slightly closer here. The Lamborghini that we know is capable. going well here at Donington while the Audi has been there but never as quick as it has been at either of the previous two circuits, so something about Donington maybe doesn't quite favor that car the way they like it , yes, and it's really interesting, those cars are very similar under the skin, they are both the v10 of the v8g group that is found in both road versions, the manufacturers in terms of lamborghini and audi, obviously, in their own aerodynamics and In fact, the geometry is quite different on the Lamborghini again, but it's amazing that they're basically the same car that performs so differently and Donington Park and the Lamborghini just go together so well, yes, they absolutely do.
We've seen a lot of success here over the years. I told the Lamborghini teams that BMW number nine had a stop penalty for serving or passing one or the other, they complied with that and on the next lap they came in for a driver change, so Tom Rawlings came back out for his second stint. now on car number nine, that's another interesting way of reacting to a bit of misfortune trying to turn it into maybe an opportunity to use strategy to your advantage second place gt4 battle that breaks through they have james kell's rjn rocket car right On the road there is another GT3 car, but it is not on the same lap as those two, since Richard almost arrives in the pit lane to serve his penalty, yes, so three seconds counting one, two and three, he will go right there And it will be.
Back at race speed the blue lights flash at the pit exits showing that there is a faster car potentially passing in front of him and it looks pretty clear so he is actually in a very good space looking out the window so hopefully now he'll be able to establish a rhythm and he needs another safety card essentially uh black and white warning flag now for powell's elise just overtaken uh lewis propped up we think he's now 11th at least but uh black and white warning flag four track limits third warning that's for him in Chicago, like Joe said, we're 30 seconds from the end of opening hour when all those track limits reset and you get a blur and new account, so you can afford it if you have anything left in the bank. well use them i guess even if it only gave you a couple of tenths they are looking to extract as much pace as possible it's a red door corner and then comes the battle between audi and lamborghini here for 6th place adam carroll and james dawlin dawlin looks faster as the overall race leader there marcus cotton laps the gt4 leaders yeah it's the first time we've actually seen it from the safety car so obviously it's been relatively uneventful it's got the Fastest lap of the race.
It's actually just another quicker personal adjustment to one, so the car is running fine. Marcus is a brilliant driver and he really brought Milgard Morgan Tilburg's side to be one of the fastest and that, along with the enduro, really stands above this McLaren if anyone gets into really rich form this weekend , they almost seem unstoppable in that kind of current look and it's interesting to see what the rest of the top guys will be, uh, and I just hope they have a smooth run and we've seen him win here before, that seems like the most likely option, we're left just under two hours, yeah they've been fast all season, they just had a few issues and by their own admission they were driver errors, things like uh hitting the lit fire extinguisher at Silverstone and Morgan missing the pit lane losing their pin box at Alton Park, costing them a lot of time James Dawlin good race there in Adam Carroll both get stuck a little behind However, the racing Aston Martin and now they will go one by one towards there, up the hill towards the last bend, so for the moment the battle base remains in front of the red line.
Racing Lamborghini. I was impressed by the red. This season's line actually had that at Alton, didn't they in the first race of the season still manage to score points in that race? But last time out of Silverstone this team was a revelation, of course the red line is much better known. because of its association with Porsche, uh, but the Lamborghini is a strong car and if it hadn't been for a bit of contact that Malikina had on her first puncture when she took the lead from Adam Balon, they might well have won the race, yeah, definitely , a relatively new team. for us at british gt and redline and a team historically associated with porsches, they really got the hang of that lamborghini quickly and yes i had a great battle with james dawlin, actually at silverstone, door to door, nice and fair from james and previous race . geysers at mclaren, such a lovely guy and he's really done well to get this opportunity in a top car with a top team, they actually had an ab failure towards the end of Silverstone, I think that's why which I managed to escape in the end, which was I'm very glad that the Italian electronics let it down on that front, but at the moment it seems faster than Carol to me and just looking at the speed trap data in front of me , looks like he has a good half mile per hour. hour at a mile an hour in the speed traps too, so the approach has to wait for the car to line up and they slingshot you and sprinkle you on board facing rear, it's always a great shot in this Mercedes, you see the rear spoiler. look at the pylons how much they move from left to right I'm happy to drive you don't see it in person because it doesn't fill you with confidence it just shows you the energy in these cars coming from itself the vibration of the engine the air brakes, everything in these cars is absolutely brutal, yes, it is so talked about that in qualifying, when they rattle in the corners, it makes you shudder, you almost imagine that it must be damaging the car, but they are incredibly robust and well prepared by the teams. cars and they, uh, most of the time they can withstand the punishment and that McCallie, withstanding the pressure here from Darren Turner very well, you get the feeling that Darren may not be fully attacking yet, we still have a little less left of two hours. to go to the race, uh, but Matt Cowley doesn't really open the door for the Aston Martin driver to come through, although he will have to open the door for Lewis Williamson and Callum McCloud to come because the two Mercedes are running out of different teams. of course two seas motorsport the yellow car the pink car is the ram racing example and they will both move forward now calling mcleod again and logging in for this weekend before she continues hopefully we will get back to the car later in the season and those two mercedes uh well williamson a little faster on the previous lap so maybe he's just starting to get a little bit of an advantage over the ram auto yeah definitely I'm really impressed with Matt Cowell he's got a There's a gap because of the traffic, but like you said, he's absorbing the pressure, he probably has another 35 to 40 minutes left, but if he keeps it there, I think we had to squeeze him out and the pressure will be off him because that's a phenomenal performance and hopefully it stays clean and you see that ebb and flow, the gt3 just squeezes into the little space in between and then disappoints, it disappears into the distance and that should allow darren turner to take a couple of clear corners early. that bentley in the distance behind catches them and it all starts again when you see the shiny interior move wow judge that's perfection then james dawlin didn't do it of course he used to race in the renault cleo cup so i guess the cutting races and push like that he knows it well and, uh, yes, he almost managed to clear the gt4 car, but then he also reached the inside line to attack the audi, so he passed, although now Adam Carroll tries to counterattack and counterattacks, they are almost one side of the other. side in Hollywood, but the Lamborghini will be squeezing in front and I think it might be the quicker of these two at this point, so now I should start building the margin, but that was absolute precision driving and a great example of how Use traffic again to your advantage, not so much because the back markers stopped Adam Carroll, but simply by being alert to the point that by the time you cleared the lap traffic, the inside line was left open and three came out Yes, and that's very key to Looking ahead, trying to plan what's going to happen so you can predict the most likely option of where you should go and fill that void of space that a GT4 sometimes creates when you overtake it in one. of these GT3 cars.
Now the interesting thing will be the reversing laps in terms of dirty air, so Dawling's pace was obviously good and he was in dirty air and now Carl has to try and respond but unfortunately now he's on the dirty outside line and that can really affect. The car's balance tends to pick up more understeer in dirty air because the front of the car is closer and less efficient at it, so it suddenly becomes a completely different race car in a matter of minutes. Yes, it's a bit dirty. Maybe there's dirty air here too, given how close the GT4 cars are, although because they're a bit less aerodependent you can run those bits in GT4 without it really affecting your mid-corner performance. , they are proving it now because you have the BMWs of two centuries that have been inseparable all weekend, qualified together, have been very close in practice times and are now racing head to head towards the Melbourne hair bin and They have the entire supermarket behind them catching up, so, two. of these cars are fighting for position, something that bothers us is the car at the front of the group and the car behind, the car in the middle is thatmachine number nine now in the hands of Tom Rawlings again, who has been on duty a couple of penalties and has also made his second mandatory mantra stop, so he's out of sequence, it's a turn back, but at the moment he acts as a gunner butt for his teammates, yes, it is very difficult, so I commented that I can't believe how.
The real commentators say, I'm so sorry, what we see of Matt Caroline is obviously past, we didn't see maybe something happening there with the paddock car. I don't think he was involved, but it was a pretty strange dynamic in terms of Turner's presence. the outside isn't a move we've seen historically, you actually see it now coming back so it's a BMW involved, watch as Turtles gets off the line and Cowley then gets committed down the left towards Crainers and Darren has the outside line , both very fair, giving each one. another lot of space and then mclaren wants to go three wide and the county is too concerned with darren turner and then the door closes and mclaren has to back off and everyone lives to fight another day, but it was super unfortunate timing with cowley, i probably should having closed the door on that bmw gt3 and not giving it a chance to open in the middle of the crib corners and that was exactly my point about turner earlier because you said cal hadn't made a mistake and you just the only bubble he had, tho the turtle was there he instantly knew that this was the opportunity and he was not afraid to take the risk, I mean go around the outside of the old hair, but even if the car you are passing has just been stopped.
Going through the tow truck happens, that takes some effort and Darren Turner on the dirty side of the road committed to it because he knew another opportunity might not come for the rest of his term. Yes, definitely, it's a great feeling as a driver when you're cornering. someone's outside is imminent, buddy, physics is against you, you're just waiting for that car and you're in just to give yourself a little push and you're already over the edge and that sends you right into the landscape. on the barrier back in the day, but when it comes out it feels so sweet and that's what I meant, it was genuinely such a clean drive from all of them, it seemed tough and fair but no contact, and hopefully that means we'll have another battle like the cars continue to evolve along the sting, that's still a very good job done, yes, he lost the position, but it was several laps in which he managed to keep Turner behind for um and he was able to pass Turner, but yes, that's how it was.
In reality, several laps ago he was still stuck behind the mustang running at his pace. Both of course lead their classes within GT4 so Darren Turner the pro is that leader, one of the few incoming pro-ams in GT4 this weekend and the silver cup is led by the Ford Mustang, so in a way it didn't cost them much, but of course the academy focuses a lot on overall GT4 racing wins. Yes, this class is important, but it's generally more important when you're both at the top of the class. and in general respectively it's always worth defending, there's no way you can pretend you're not that upset so yeah it's interesting the dynamics of the pit stop pro-am versus silver silver and the gt4, they have 12 extra seconds on their pit stops so the gap grows when we see two mclarens doing it good and hard, rob bell and martin plan when they are face to face obviously two cars are the same run by different teams you see it and we are getting let another hitter evolve here, you and hanky and another gt3 mclaren getting caught by scott malvin that gap now under a second nine tenths of a second moving two tenths faster in the sects, one get through section two now and another two tenths for malvin, so expect that The gap will be the half second around after we get there.
Malvin remembers that the runway limits have now been reset for the next hour. I am very happy for the Parker team. Here they have shown good pace throughout the weekend, but for some reason they did not express it. all together in qualifying, but thanks to a bit of good luck with the timing of their pit stop behind the safety car, they have now put themselves in the part of the field where they really should be anyway to fight for the podium, third place in the classification. Right now, the same strategy as all the cars around them, so this is a genuine third place and Scott Mulvan now sees the opportunity to turn third into second.
He goes back to being a tenth and a half faster than you and Hanky on that lap and gets the gap. up to around three quarters of a second, malvin has now gained a 4.4 second cushion for lewis williamson, as they both went a bit off the corner of the red gate. williamson is still the fourth clown on the calendar in 5th and james dawlin in 6th is matching the cars in front so having passed Adam Carroll oh it's not really gaining them a big gap there for you and Hanky that was the stellar Audi on the road in the old hair container and now it was a 7 10 of a second gap narrowing even further, yeah.
I love these tight shots of the cars. You see them working so hard over the bumps and curves. Just look at the sway of these cars. I find the Porsche fascinating. I have raced one in the past. The engine is completely in the wrong place. it runs dynamically but it's still so fast, there's so much traction, there's so much weight in the back of that car that it really comes out of the corners and just goes, yeah it certainly looks like a good car, it drives well balanced, Disney does too Nice noise, huh? Porsche, which is now increasingly lubricating itself in the mirrors of the man in second place, Ewan Hanky. uh who needs power by the way on your final track limit warning and we're only 10 minutes away from the hour so that doesn't bode well for Elise. who, of course, has done most of his racing in Europe and is therefore used to the European track limit rules, which are a little different to the British ones, there comes the interior of the Rocket Rjn car , but this is the fight for second place.
Overall, Scott Malvern is now starting to ask you and Hanky all the right questions, but again, Joe has this fascination with GT racing, two completely different cars, they both generate their lap times in very different ways, there's not much either to choose between them in terms of lap times. So where does Marvin make the move again? It will be sector three, the big overtaking spots, but the McLaren looks good on the brakes, so really the Porsche's advantage is the pull, as I mentioned because of the position of its engine, but it doesn't seem to be getting there.
To that point the best chance should really be to get out of the bigger t12 traction zone, that hairpin to the last corner, just doesn't seem to happen yet so it's interesting to see and again I think we'll probably wait for the traffic for the El catalyst will be the movement in this uh, in this case, yes, I think that could be the case, the GT4 traffic was distributed fairly evenly over most of the track, although in reality these two seem to have found a bit of clean air at the end. The top end of the circuit just caught a glimpse, you might see it again now, the orange parker gt4 team car in the background.
That car, I wanted to say a while ago, was in the top five in its class, but it got a stop go penalty. Why did you leave the competition for the moment in GT4? He's still running in seventh overall in GT4, albeit with said Hopkins at the wheel, but it was definitely in the fight for the podium before that, that technically sister Carl then appears in the Porsche on your screen. Now this is Scott Malvin's Porsche 911 GT3 that, after having trapped you and Hanky, can't open the door. These two are still running at the top in the 27th minute, so they're losing a few tenths back here to Marcus Clutton. whose base is only electric, isn't it really good?
We just see him come down a little bit faster in the mid-27s in both cars and just watching them all appear on the timing screens, they all move pretty similar, uh, he just got a little lost in the last half, actually, the James Dawlins' pace on the previous lap was also strong, so it still looks like we have this kind of six to seven cars. potential battle pack evolving uh all the way we see the mercedes dart through the curves crane lost its styrofoam it picked up earlier so it will run absolutely flawlessly you'll see the light fading later potentially too The sparks.
Coming out of that Mercedes, it's a very dramatic experience to see that car and the good thing about that leading group, you're mentioning six or seven cars, only one of them at the moment would have to carry a success penalty, based on their Silverstone result. and so. it would be the 32nd redline car that finished second last time, so it would take an extra 15 seconds at the final stop, but other than that, yes, it's a genuine fight with 29 seconds covering the top seven through the chicane, this second one comes. Battle place This is what they call turns nine and ten, they are the Foggerty S and this Joe is where the track limits have been the topic of conversation exactly, so the first part is pretty well regulated by a big pile of tires you definitely don't want to hit. but the right one is a little more open, you have the three sets of yellow curbs which are awfully big in real life, when you see it in your face you definitely don't want to touch it, but suddenly when you're in a race car it's okay see a little bit of traffic, but that's the critical point of the track limits, it's a big win to cut there, but the tire, the left side tire, couldn't get off the track, that's the big rule, then We saw three. or actually four of those six cars in the shot doing that, there's a trier of fact standing there.
In fact, I went and talked to him on the day of the test. He wanted to see what rules he was following and how he was monitoring them. Super interesting doing a great job but very difficult to do and he stood there and literally has perfect eyesight, can't argue, you could talk to race control but they have a trier of fact who has trained and has been doing it for years, that is. He's black or white, yes, that's why we're seeing so many of these limit tracking calls, but that's literally that person's only job and he doesn't have to focus on anything else, so he should almost always do it well.
Battle for second place at Coppe corner again, still holding the scarf here from Scott Malvin as we head towards the halfway point of the race, one minute and 45, still to go and the next pit stops, so when We anticipate that they will cover, I guess? With the race on green at the moment, there's no sign of a safety car, uh, and for the most part, the GT4 traffic isn't bunched up either, I guess the GT3 team is happy to leave their pros now, those of them who are running with the professionals. for as long as possible, so I imagine this middle part of the race will drag on for quite some time, but of course teams want to make sure their pros have enough time at the end of the race. also, ideally, the last half hour and 40 minutes or so to reach the flag.
Marcus Clutton here is a professional driver in enduro motorsport and this has been a very good job, well done so far. He's almost 20 seconds off the road, Marcus Clutton. He's a very experienced driver, but it's easy to forget that Morgan Tilburg is only in his third or fourth season of racing and moved into GT racing so early in his racing career that, to be honest, I didn't tell him this in the time, but I thought it was a step too far, a little too soon, but with Marcus's training and all his experience that he has, he has turned Morgan into one of the best horsewomen in the field, yes, definitely and obviously, it is the car that I know well about the mclaren gt3 and when we develop the car, we look at those arms and what they want, they feel wise, it does not make sense for us, as professionals, to develop a racing car that is fast but yes, that does not can drive.
Slash Larry, so we can actually use it. all the traction control systems, the abs systems and the overall dynamics of the car and the chassis to tune it up and make it drivable, so guys with relatively limited experience, sometimes it's scary how little they've done and then they can maintain the rhythm. where they should be now the interesting thing for marcus is really when is he going to pit the strategy is still up in the air we saw how a safety car suddenly juggles i would say you'll probably be looking at something like that in the spotlight in the next few 15 20 minutes maybe a little more if you have free space you can feel safe and with that you increase the gear a little earlier you keep the revs low you lift the accelerator before braking and reach thecorner and you can easily find five to ten percent fuel savings and then suddenly your shift is extended.
There is no limit to the length of a single shift in this race, yes, so the last round or the first round of pit stops for most. part, it happened at seven minutes past one, so, yeah, that was about 50 minutes ago 45 50 minutes, so we're getting close to the end of the hour, of course, they'll have saved a little bit of fuel behind the safety car , and I plan this again essentially from the end of the race, they will already know when they want the pro to come in for the end of the race and that decides the rest of the strategy for you, let's look at the paddock mclaren spent a bit of time in pit lane fixing that right out of the corner after he tangled early with motorsport asset Ginetta and also received a penalty as a result, but that car was driven by Ashley Marshall at the time 47 laps down, 21 laps behind the next car gt4, but they are actually running tenth in the silver cup, so at the moment they would take a point home from Donington Park, yes, and it might seem a bit pointless to race that far. down, but all this time on the track is always a learning experience, especially for a team that is not used to a car.
I had it running with the gt4 mclaren for the first time. I'm going to learn a lot about it, so it's worth it. go out and test and see what works and what doesn't, they might even go in and make a set-up change in the race, it's all very valuable to learn and take track time as we see the McLaren 76 coming out of there. Melvin hasn't really reached out. or more so it's kind of status quo really and in fact deep down the mclaren paddock showed up so obviously he wants to make a configuration change, following my advice yeah let's hope that's it.
It's not something more sinister, yes. You're right about this and Mulvane will be frustrated because the speed at which he was catching the tissue about 10 minutes ago really looked like he was going to have the potential pace to make the move, but you can see the Porsche squirms a little because of the old custom, so this car that we have been saying is so well balanced in all the races was not seen at all in the previous half in that time, of course, it has been on these tires for most of the hour that has been. stuck in dirty air for a long time too and that will no doubt have an effect on the way the car drives at the moment, yes potentially the teams have looked a bit silly here with the weather the temperature has been track.
I've been really climbing, the sun has been beating down and obviously the track really attracts heat being a dark colour, so seeing the track temperatures go up, the pressures at the start of the stint can go up a bit. little too much and as the pressure increases, the tire starts to fall out of its performance window and the car will start to move again, obviously for the next set of tires the driver gets in and we see a genetically off car. Oh no, gravel, it's an interesting place, we have live starting available. at darlington, which essentially means the car can be recovered under a home yellow car, it's right in the handcuffs of where the race director will be happy to do it under a home yellow car or we'll call a safety car, all teams will be ready for a safety car pit stop will work for almost everyone's strategy yes this could be interesting so we are approaching the half race distance and we just saw the latest twist in history here for round number four of the championship, well, the motorsports academy thinks so. because now they are in the pit lane if they are anticipating a security guard, I think it's too early for me, aren't they coming anyway?
Matt Cowley coming out handing over to Marco Señoretti for his second stint of the day, this pit stop comes in at 13 55, so it was, yeah, a 45 minute period or so for Matt Cowley, they definitely shortened that time. You can see the Toyota coming in and a lot of teams, I think they're anticipating a safety car stop here or a couple of them anyway, but I'm not convinced we're going to get one. We've seen plenty of cars caught in that gravel trap over the years and they tend to be recovered by the live start vehicle under a local yellow signal, so you never know. it could turn out to be an absolutely great decision but I'm not so sure, yeah it's too early for me on that, I think it was a coincidence that they were boxing so to be honest I understand it could have been great but it will be.
It's hard to figure out, funnily enough, when you saw the Academy Mustang come in, you actually saw Aaron Morgan in his wheelchair getting ready to go in and they were in the garage next to me at Silverstone and it was absolutely incredible to see someone with a wheelchair. wheels enter. a race car and then be so fast on the track that you can't tell there is a single difference inside that car. It's really inspiring to see that in the British GT. Yes, the lovely guy Aaron Morgan I also know from some of the club racing of his that he has done beforehand and he even shook at Silverstone last week just to see C win the 24 hour race.
He's a real motorsport enthusiast, Aaron, and it's great that he and the British team have this opportunity to compete in British GT. uh academy with tire change going on Señoretti like I said coming in so if we thought this was an interesting planned pit stop that they shortened this period uh for matt cowell he was uh could have lasted at least another 15 minutes or so fuel, like Can you imagine, so you save your driving time for the last part of the race, yes, potentially, and sometimes it's predetermined and maybe they didn't have the fuel to make it to the end and yes, exactly, it's hard to see, they saw Jesus . a purple sector too for uh, I think it's a monitor, isn't it when it's green, no jcp? uh it's his time to shine and you can actually see it's a little bit harder there towards the wall in terms of gravel that's not as deep.
Toyota, it looks like a scheduled pit stop on that one too, but I'd say the Academy Mustang we saw get that front off the brake dust that came off. It really shows how hard these cars are working. anywhere from 650 degrees Celsius, so the heat would actually be quite intense there for the mechanic working on the car. Tenth place just changed hands the way you lose power ahead of Martin Plowman now, so put second of the Ram race cars. the top 10. on the circuit goes the mustang academy, we heard by the way that the uh activeto motorsports team has been told that they can continue in the race once the car has been recovered from the gravel trap, so that despite clearly receiving outside help to get back on track, they are allowed to return to the race, which is good to see that yes, it is a sensible decision in many ways, it is probably quicker to just return to the circuit from where you were once they took him out in the final. a little bit of gravel, um, and it won't exactly get in the way, so I think we could see a repeat here of the chicane we're talking about, this puppy before the wpi, oh, just taking the bite out of that. and that little piece of carbon fiber is what we call a dip plane attached to the front bumper to help stop the air and create more downward force on the front and that loss will be a few tenths of a second on the lap for Mike Ligo, I win.
I'm not saying how much it is because it's exorbitant for the size of that piece of carbon fibre, but you could definitely spend £1500 on better equipment. I think that there you can see the set of genetically displaced elements of the path. by the way, it's a fight for position, there's a ginetta being unceremoniously dragged out of the gravel and another part of the marshal's job in the recovery workers' job is to make sure they do this without worsening the damage to the car because, uh Once the front splitter starts digging into the gravel, you can start ripping the body off the front of the car quite easily.
Yeah, I hadn't anticipated that it would go through the gravel so deeply for so long that that thing would fill itself, not just a splits the side skirts and the genetic diffuser and I think where it's going to join in the braking zone of the chicane there's no way to that you can't put gravel somewhere and that will be what if I were the engineer of a Car, I would say that in the next few laps keep an eye out for the marshals' flags, the slippery surface flag and just look for the gravel, it will be like ice if you leave between 10 and 15 kilos in the braking zone.
I'm excited, yeah, I could definitely spice things up, right? The chicane is already a part of the circuit that gets quite dirty because people cut it, run on the gravel and kick up pieces of dirt that we saw in the TCR race. Earlier about the cars going airborne when they hit the gravel, there could be a similar story here or Scott Malvin just got a little late due to age he's on his out lap, I think at the academy, the Ford Mustang he just drops the Porsche backed off the uh, you and Hanky McLaren very slightly, but now you both caught it, well, actually, we just had a change there, that's the The car nearby is going slow, isn't it?
It looked a little sideways, there's that electrical puncture, maybe for the avocado team, they just lost a spot to the uh wpi car, Richard, almost definitely off base, yeah I mean god that looks so fast and scary, so we. See Ginetta meeting there and says that the avocado is definitely not happy. She didn't even appear at Australia's start. She really allowed Morgan to get close, so the best area to catch someone with a scarf will be a little compromised by the star. audi gt4 this is a chance, you just have to send him so false to the left and then back to the right, he will commit to the outside, I don't want to say never, but I have never seen that work, you might be able to run. but then Hanky already has the inside covered for the last corner, so they will be level.
All Hanky has to do here is hit his brake mark and then keep moving around the outside, lock on the apex, stop and run a bit. the lock and it should be safe to live another day it's still very tight but he's in front, yes, Marvin will try to climb up the inside to the corner of the red door. He's selling the doll goes from the outside in and out again, that was nice, uh. animated stuff, but you and Hanky again are experienced racers, you're both actually what makes this battle so entertaining to watch, neither of you are likely to make a mistake, so you'll really have to work hard to outsmart each other and that's not something Scott Malvin can do at the moment, Connor Five, by the way, Lewis Proctor was given a traffic penalty, I haven't seen the car get involved in any contact, so yes, we are getting confirmation now, it is for multiple runway limit violations.
They've gone over their final warning and we're not even halfway through the hour so Lewis Proctor who was running 12th, unfortunately we'll be in pit lane soon, yeah it's tough so yeah left rear, You called him, right? I'm getting better at this, I have to say I need you on my strategy team so he will be limping back, luckily at this point the tire casing stays as one so it doesn't shake or cause any more damage to the body suspension. lines and everything, so you will limp and in fact your right hand in the last corner will be absolutely fine, but he has taken it very carefully, I almost feel that he is a bit defeatist and goes very slow so as not to create damage because he knows not to there is such a clever result on the card, from Richard really down to preserving the car as best as he can, yes, if he had been in contention for the race lead at this point then the temptation is to just put his foot down a little further and come back to the pits so as not to lose time, but yes, they were suspended anyway, having had that penalty before and, yes, they were in that slightly different pit cycle.
It would have been nice to see how that would have played out, but Of course, another delay now will really take them out of the competition, so there will be no repeat of the Donington heroics of 12 months ago for the Abba Racing team, but they will return to the coast the next time to try and get back to the top step of The podium now that Adam Carroll is on this is interesting so Balf Motorsport brought the number 22 Audi from sixth position, jab, yes definitely, so they are obviously low on fuel again , there is no strategic moment that you want to choose now, so time. and half left Sean Belt is going to get in that car and that should just give exercise so he's done 55 minutes Adam Carroll so you should have another 35 minute period at the end so probablyyou're going to look at like obviously a 50 to a 60 minute period of sean ball, potentially yeah, and sean again, one of the quickest albums out there, so as we start to have more and more driver changes it's going to come back to be in the race, the car that Sam almost drove comes out.
I imagine they will have made a driver change there in the Ava Racing team, there will be more traffic here for you and Hanky to deal with and again he is stuck here behind Mike Ligo. He's been following the Lamborghini WPI for a few laps and I'm going again because he Climbing up the inside of the Motorsport McLaren paddock leaves no way for you and Hanky, look at the way Lewis Williamson, who was four seconds behind these two a few laps ago , is back behind them, so three of them together now for third place. place and michael, I started to defend inside there goes Scott Mulvane, that was a very late move, he gives you a little hip and shoulder and Hanky goes side by side from the corner, Hanky opens up wide and passes the Porsche and Louis Williamson.
He can win the spot too. He will try to get closer to the inside line, he is almost there in time and Scott Baldwin is in second place. Williamson, third, was very very close. An aggressive move by Baldwin. He made some contact at Goddard's. At the turn, he passes and brings Williams with him. Is incredible. It really changes the career. Now for him he can get on the front foot and potentially with clean air. Once he beats igo, let's see how many times he can do it. He's already one lap down. but if he can sustain these professionals, it will make Phil Keane's job a little more interesting later, so again, the dynamic is so hard to name, look how slow it feels when a professional is stopped for a morning, It literally feels like someone is running 10 miles. an hour through a 50 it's terrible that Alvin looks with stinging eyes, he has strayed there so you should chase him.
Will Williamson be able to follow him? I'm not sure, no I don't see it, it's going to look inside the chicane, I think it might as well happen now, but that's really what triggered all of that because Argo was fending off um you and Hanky against Goddard forced Hanky to the outside line, here comes Williams and there is no space in the middle, there surely is. They are three wide as they take the BMW of the century for a spin. Somehow, Marvin becomes hung up on Williamson. He lunges inward, almost towards the back of the Porsche.
This is a great race and a great example of how traffic, especially when it's another GT3 car, can completely change. the dynamics of a battle and now we have Cali McCloud as part of this so what was a two way fight per second now becomes a four way fight and this is the battle package I was talking about before really collided quickly. Some nice circumstances around some really good racing. I'm going, in fact, the pace seems good in that final sector. I have not lost anything at all until the lead, in front of him, Panky has to defend himself strongly against the clouds, he will be losing time and he will still be losing time.
I also had to overtake igo at some point so there's a lot going on here and it's hard to say who's got the pace but I really imagine the poor guy seems to be pretty good on his tires too, eh yeah he had a bit news very quickly about motor racing. McLaren are out of the race. Remember, you kind of went over the front of the Barwell car where Balan had that spin before he punctured the radiator and a coolant leak means you're out. of the race, so thanks for bringing in Lucas for digging into the news a little bit.
He also says that Phil Keane will get into the WPI car with about an hour and 13 minutes to go, he'll have to save fuel, so that's it. over an hour, so he may not be able to unlock Phil Keem's true performance, but he will be there for a long time at the end of the race. Yes, I already said that the drivers have to save fuel, but the cars, as we see. A really risky battle is emerging here. Williamson seems to turn up the heat here for me. He looked quite docile and angry at the start of his stint, perhaps he was concentrating on looking after the tires to give him this opportunity towards the end of the stint, but with the fuel saving element, the card will have a feature on all of them where they also They will be able to run a little more efficiently, so by putting less fuel into the combustion chamber, you will lose some power, but save it.
We see the 76th handkerchief bail car for the launch, so that's a car in the battle for now, but I understand that I'm in and that potentially leaves you with more driving time at the end of the race, so although the professionals are going to have a little less now, that means they will have a little more at the end of the race, almost exactly a one hour stint than for you and thanks for a job well done he kept that second place brilliantly for most of his stint and Mia flew, we saw her get stuck in her first stint earlier as well, so this is a combination of drivers that I think could still be a contender for a good result at the end of the day.
They may have lost a couple of spots right before the pit stops, uh, but they're still in We also see the Porsche, so Scott Malvin brought that car to deliver to Nick Jones, so two heavyweights came into pits at the same time, yes, very good and, in fact, he freed Williams, who then did a green sector, so the pace is interesting. of these cars, so at this moment we see that the battle is still going on, in reality of course it is now Balf in the car, so James Dawlin now has to look at Malekin in the Lamborghini and Balf, so who has exactly the same cars with completely different ones?
The drivers had a very similar battle, yes at first glance that also confused me, but yes you are right, the Audi faces off, of course, for the second time, while the red line Lamborghini has only faced off, the repetition here of them going sideways. next door and contact Hollywood it's not a good place to hit doors there and it's pretty easy to cut a tire with that kind of contact yeah definitely what saved them both there was that it was very rolling so we didn't see a big discrepancy in the car when turning, which is easily done there, so both of their elbows are strong but fairer on that one and, um, yeah, Malekin really has a good rhythm there at Balfour at the time of looking in while we.
Watch Nick Jones rejoin, where will he be on the track? You'll have a couple of GT3 cars and four around you, so all you want, as a driver, is out of the lap, be calm, calm down, find your references, find your marks and go on and on. has the complete opposite of both of them returning to the circuit, about the same kind of gap between them, maybe a slight advantage for the Parker team, no, their pit stop was actually a second slower, so they go, what HE? uh, team 76 pulled that car out really well, I was talking absolutely nonsense right now, wasn't it about um, the balf and malik as a couple?
Both made their second stops, that was a genuine fight, what will trigger is in the asset of bentley motorsport. The car has also been in and out a few times but we are back inside the top 10, actually just before they could pit this time, yes I remember they pitted with two hours and 32 minutes left to go to the finish into a mandatory one, so we're almost 10 minutes away from that fuel saving strategy, so you're going to have to splash and run, but unfortunately the regulations don't really allow a splash, as soon as fuel is put into the car, it becomes on a long pit stop.
So it will pretty much be a done day for them in terms of getting a podium or even a top ten. I would say yes, it's a shame, a circuit where Bentley has had good results in the past and is an asset for uh. once some of the race by race entries were removed from the Silverstone resort because they don't get points and Mentos actually got the points for third place in the Silverstone 500 so they also have a 10 second success penalty to fulfill. On his last pit stop is Alex Malikin's uh 32, which seems faster than Sean Ball, isn't he getting away from him on this lap?
That gap was much smaller the last time we saw these two a lap and a half ago and Alex Maliakim makes his way into the final turn. I still expect the redline car to be a contender at the end of the day and of course we've now had team parker and 76 in the pits so there are genuine gaps for the position now. Aren't they between car 66, car 76, car 32 and car 22, all on the same lap, all with the same strategy? Yeah, and now we're just trying to see where people got the ammo for their last period because the earlier the morning is, obviously it means the pro has more time left at the end, so sometimes you see Malakin a little bit behind Let's say Floyd and Jones, but I think Dorlin has at least four more laps left, so potentially seven or eight seconds.
Then they will win at the ams by having to do overtime at the end of their stint so it's super interesting, dynamic there and I'm just looking at Sandy Mitchells who is now back to fourth overall. We know they lost almost 40 seconds when Balon was flipped earlier by the igo wpi car, but I think they're still out of contention with that. I think that's where pit stops were made, as we see here, he flew and Nick Jones also resumed a battle that we saw. there were pros not too long ago, yes I thought Jones was running away but Mia has chased him this lap but now he's in range as they head into the Melbourne hairpin braking zone.
He just received a track limits penalty for the way it was applied to the British team McLaren, who had moved up to third place in GT4 when others stopped and is now coming to pit lane to take that track stop penalty, although team parker competes against team 76, uh, you can. look where they got the idea for that name uh from kanye they're car number 76 and you, hanky and mia blew it up they've been racing together in the championship for a while now they're looking to try and overtake this parker porsche team again right now It's the fight for seventh place but of the cars that have already made two pit stops they are actually the second, sorry, the third and fourth cars of those that have made their second of three pit stops and this is really a fight. so it should be in the top five yeah I'm definitely starting to see the pace of the amp is a little bit slower than what we saw them in their first period so they obviously have a lot of fuel.
Again, but I really think the track temperature is rising and potentially causing the cars to go a little slower as we can see the gap really narrowing with Malakin's redline car, it's a shame that the baby has that 15 second success penalty on his next and final pit stop from his podium at Silverstone but he brings Balfour with him and we see Mia Floyd fly by, it's a lovely move, she's down and now she needs to get her act together march and try to get a space for that hard charge in lamborghini and alex malik needs to take advantage of the fact that nick jones was a little off the pace having been overtaken in the chicane and that is exactly what malikin does, he climbs up the inside and takes eighth position at that time and I don't think it will be long before Sean Valve tries to get ahead of the Porsche and Nick Jones struggles to accelerate a little in this period, two places already lost and another car on his heels, speaking of heat, you said the temperature of the truck . it was going up, I checked about 10 minutes ago, it was 27 degrees, now it's 31.6 degrees, so it's really going up and it's not at all what we were expecting, so I believe the idea you had that the teams were stuck a little in the jump. about how hot it is today, yes, and another thing to keep in mind this year, we have a new Pirelli specification, the dhf specification and, again, the information we have on that tire is relatively limited, so the teams will have to do a great effort. pressures, cambers, everything that involves the tire-to-tire contact patch and, uh, it's interesting to see that Barwell Lamborghini now where it's going to fall down the food chain.
Now he obviously has Adam Balum back in the car. We see the leader in the pits now, so both drivers. morgan tilbury with the orange helmet in the position a little further back, marcus and then standing with him, i think it would have been a pretty simple delivery in terms of cars, good friend, come in, do the same job, please, let's go, like this Let's just watch them, it's great. I shoot when you can see him standing still. It is very painful because of the amount of time the fuel runs out. One of the hoses is the fuel itself.
The other is the vent when the tank is full, if you decidefill it, which I don't think. Actually, with the timing that Morgan has to do, the breather actually lets the fuel come back up so you know you're full and we've seen Malakin pass Fleur already on that lap, he's flying, oh yeah, he It is, isn't it?, it is a head. of fluid head as you say, that now puts it in 7th position, it's sitting now, although the bar team has also pitted, so yeah, really good stuff, you can see the bar car right at the back of this group, so we have got even more cars now, one on top of the other as they come out of Goddard hairpin towards Redgate, he looks into the BMW, but it looks like he will pass too, so, coming to the end, well, just halfway through the second hour of the race, I guess a three hour race and we're seeing a lot of teams making their second mandatory stop of the day, as nick jones has a very close moment there with betty chen's BMW and That almost cost Sean Valve a position.
Yes, three hours of racing, three mandatory pit stops. Many of the teams make their second of those mandatory pit stops. Now you can make those pit stops whenever you want, as you said, any of the drivers can do more than 100 of the 180 minutes, the minimum pit stop times are there, as we have explained to make sure the pit stops are made in the safest and most efficient way possible; However, once we reach the third and final pit stop of the race, you will have to serve. your success penalties if you were on the podium last time at Silverstone and that applies to these six cars the lamborghini barra the lamborghini red line and the bentley active and gt3 the new justin martin the porsche beluga and the audi stella motorsport in gt4 nick jones them As a result, we're going up inside Betty Chen, not to be in a position to give their rattles a spin on the sidewalks, but it's actually the car behind, I'm sure both the ball they lose here like Adam Ballon on the inside it's exactly four positions and we already have everyone starting, yeah sure, Nick Jones really packed that corner there, a little worried, almost like the radiators on that Porsche, such a big hit through the splitter , it's quite easy to break something there and yes, Balfour is lost. the position to fight is very interesting where the balance pace is now if he can outperform Nick Jones he has a good clear air it is if he could really get close to humanity and for me he is absolutely on fire yeah it will be interesting to see if you like it.
If you can't pass the Porsche, how is the balance of pace, such a good effort, it's wonderful to get back into this fight after having lost all that time with the spin, as we said, really a good stint that went a little unnoticed. Sandy Mitchell did it, but there was really good pace and that got us back into contention for the podium, then Nick Hulsten who is back at Fox Motorsport McLaren, so a lot of cars that have dropped down the order before coming back to get in. Then with the Fox Motorsport McLaren, there's a big battle coming up and a really difficult circuit to understand too Joe, what is it, what is it Nick?
At this point, it's absolutely incredible, it's such a good view when you're sitting here, so let's go. going for a spin with Nick House The last stop was very fast, in fact, in the 29s, fast in all the cars in front of him. A little trivia. This car has actually been signed by Lando Norris. You can see it on the right side. timing screen and on the brakes in the chicanes here we're talking about track limits don't hit the tires don't cut the track too perfect there, run maybe show your nose in here on the valve perfect can you hear me on the brakes without looking to overtake, looking intimidating all the way to first gear, lots of steering lock, unwind the turn, full throttle, you see all the lights lighting up on the dash, traction control, rev counter active, going crazy if you really see it .
Balf is looking at the balloon, now Nick Jones is still up there, so he simmers again in the previous corner, turns the lock and starts another lap, so I thought it was interesting, it seemed like the McLaren is quite strong with the brakes here. so let's check on the red door 5th gear up to 3rd on the brakes turn it a little more couldn't commit to the steering lock so maybe the back of the car was moving a little given that guy disconcerting sensation for the driver when plunging through the crane is easy, flat, do not lift, easy, flat, engage the curb to the left, drag it to the left with the brakes all the way to the right, engage the curb to up and ready, you can do it.
I look really relaxed behind the wheel there and in terms of his hand grip, it's always my cue to tell my co-driver to breathe if he's hanging on for dear life. You know he's not particularly comfortable at the moment, but Coulter moved. An exterior shot too now I love it now the drama is here for motorsports so that's car number three and we think it hit these tires oh yeah in the chicane so we have this debate frequently it seems like us, the people of motorsport. about putting stacks of tires on the apexes of the corners, they are there to prevent you from cutting the curve we have seen at the second apex of the skid, if you don't put tires there they all cut the corner so you know it's an instant penalty if you likes to hit that pile of tires and that is his very committed career.
Yes, you said it right as we get back to this GT4 battle that seems to have been going on for the last eight hours of this three-hour race we have. in the afternoon and really interesting inside, it's a brilliant move, the speed he brought there almost closed him down with the astons and coming back inside he should be able to defend himself and be pressed to the grass, back off. on the brakes and he's thinking I just want to survive another day, a really good race, beat him in the Aston Martin. Boxing is smart, that's how I would challenge that little battle we just saw.
What I like about this battle is that, as you say. These two cars have been inseparable throughout the race. Both made their second pit stop. Remember the mustang because it is a silver cup car. He has to spend an additional 14 seconds in the pits at each stop. We're still bonded in the silver cup car with the pro-am car after each of their pit stops, so it's working. That's why we have that silver cup penalty. Some people think it's unfair, but it's to balance the two classes. This gives us this race on the track. I could not agree more.
I think they've got the 14 seconds back in the window here for this race and it really allows us to have an extra race that we potentially wouldn't enjoy. It's interesting that she returned to the Bentley. One thing is that the Bentley may not be allowed to continue. It seems a little crazy. It has an exposed front wheel, it's not particularly safe, but the amount of carbon there to me seems like a similar level to ours. I saw that our safety car was called potentially a little better, it's outside the racing line, but you think a lot of that missing Bentley is in that chicane area, so if we haven't seen the safety car now, I guess no. we are going to do it unless the debris is run over and divided even into small pieces as we see this gt3 battle right now everyone is in the same order porsche jones ballon in the lambo then we have balfour the audi and houston inside the mclaren, but They're all still together so this is going to continue until they pit, yes it's for fifth place right now, a lot of these drivers are pretty early in their stint right now, within the first 15 or 20 minutes. , certainly.
We anticipate they will stay there for a little while longer. By the way, we are still waiting for the first three to launch, so Lewis Williamson called Cloud and Elise Depow, the three Mercedes AMGs at the front of the group, they should all be second. pit stop, so they are choosing to stick with their pros now and shorten their final period later. It's interesting to see if it's the right decision in an hour and a quarter. I guess we'll get back on board with Nick Halstead and have a chance. The Parker GT4 Porsche team didn't exactly get out of the way and Nick just didn't want to commit to that gap.
Is it difficult for both parties involved? I think if Nick looked back at that particular one, he probably shouldn't have shown the nose of the car to the left of the Porsche because the Porsche thought that was where he was going, which actually made him defend it to the right of McLean's, which which meant it couldn't reach torque, making it really difficult for slower drivers. you are given a really easy task and just stay on your line, do your best, don't swerve, the faster car has to go around you and it works very very well when I have been in the gt3 vs gt4, the good gt4.
Drivers actually move an indicator left or right to indicate which direction they are going and that makes your life a lot easier, the same way when I was in the GT4 class and our GT3 was overtaking me if I could get the indicator. and make it obvious, it would waste less time so you can have a little collective here and help you and then get into the team battles which was a gt4 team park. I'm not saying it was dirty what he did, but it's going to help a team Porsche more than a non-teammate car, so it may seem pretty one-dimensional, but there are hard and fast rules to allow this. multi-class race takes place in the safest way possible. possible exactly and again touchwood, we have seen remarkably little contact between gt3 and gt4 in this race and they are clearly complying quite well with that kind of unwritten code and allowing the battle to continue as close as ever on the circuit until that Starkey part. from the circuit we rode on with the mclaren alapago and now it seems that maybe nick jones is starting to get used to it, i think it only took him a few laps to get into the rhythm, it has to be difficult for joe meanwhile colin mcleod comes for second place and this was a pit stop uh 14 22. so it's about an hour and 10 12 minutes or so that made it there quite a long period for callum mcleod so callum hands over to ian loggie now. and we're going to see this car in pit lane for quite a while, a slightly slow lap here for morgan until brooke alappa goes because he almost picked up team brit mclaren in the last corner and again half looked in and didn't commit completely, if I wasn't leading the race, I would have overtaken that car which was one of those.
I have a lot of pressure on me, make no mistake, make no mistake. We just made a mistake and then everything starts to fall apart from there. Morgan's a smart guy, he's calm, he just has to get back into that rhythm, but that was in the second half easy, if not a loss of two seconds, so suddenly if you get 10 of them. the whole race is up to you with the gap that marcus and himself have built with a safety car and a mega clutter boost meaning this car now enjoys a decent lead of about 27 seconds or so, goes betty chen uh in the bmw of the century, but this car number four, lewis williamson and now has a very indisputable lead, but Again, it was this second pit stop and right on cue, no pup would be at all surprised to see that at least the Power arrives very soon, as soon as the steamroller finishes repairing car number six, Easter is approaching. also in the abba machine team lewis williamson to hand over to james cottingham whose pace was really impressive at the start of the race so we're looking forward to seeing how fast b where these cars are now filtering through those that already made their second stop as we've seen quite a battle here uh what a day Jamie Day has to be just inside Topham but our race cars really found some rhythm even compared to qualifying they've done it very good, so now.
It's his job to try to catch that mustang in both silver and silver pairs, so it's going to be a fair fight in terms of the pit stop but also the added weight on the car and it looks very, very bold. I think the car looks very well balanced and prepared, you just get a feeling when you look at it, if it's not doing anything stupid, it's not going deep into the corner, the front is fine, if it's not behind on the exit you know it's the rear is good, the pit stop ends there, a little gesturing.
So it seemed like the door wasn't closed, maybe as fast as they wanted the fuel to fill. You see both drivers behind the line waiting for it to come out, the whole team looking to make sure the car is okay, there is not a mark on that car. They've had a nice, clean afternoon when you come back to this gt3 battle, they housed it beyond the gt4, the porsche luger, the engineer, you see it just with thepaddle looking out the windshield, he's not checking anything in particular, he's probably just looking at the pit. stop the stopwatch so you can see how much time you have to complete your stop before you stop too long over the minimum and you'll just tell the tire guys, guys, you have plenty of 20 second time, then you'll drop the car , most likely they have 10 seconds left to finish, so the tires on cold asphalt lose heat, the driver will pull away and start at zero as long as the fast lane is clear, in fact, so it's a picture perfect stuff for uh two seas motorsport, that car that we saw briefly at the motorsport jury and that now went back to leading the race as a result of this because both williamson and powell pitted, so williamson now hands over control to james cottingham, that car comes rumbling out of the pit lane and back to the red gate corner and about 25, 30 seconds later we should see that the number 15 car coming out that way, interestingly enough, is loggie, which gives you the gap between cottingham in which will be second place and loggie in third position. to the old hairpin and of course it was a very, very considerable margin, uh, for 77 over the number four before the pit stops, but 77 has had Morgan Tillbrook in that car for a little bit longer.
Remember the enduro motorsport pitted 11 minutes before the uh. The mercedes amgs we just saw are heading into the pit lane, so the extra time for the pros means the gap between the leaders should have narrowed slightly now, yes, and I think the other thing is that now everyone has done that standing together, so if the safety car comes out, it helps everyone, the Mercedes went a little longer and at one point the three Mercedes, if they had a safety car that was ready on the day for the podium, it would have been a block from Mercedes, uh, so now we have an interesting battle, seeing that Bentley still has a good pace considering how much he has lost his car, yes, proper Mad Max vibes, and you get a good view of the tire and how it is running, I'm not too sure about the aerodynamics, uh, go back to the team where They designed that car.
They will be very happy if the pace is so fast. Yeah, it's really going well, but that's Mark Sansom and the driver of the car, so I'm doing a particularly good job. Morgan Tilbury leads the way for enduro motorsport. So Morgan Tilbrook has a 30 second lead over James Cotingham and that's a genuine lead now because both cars are in the pits so actually the lead cup is going up, I think if anything in the last 10 15 minutes or so ian records, then his third for ram racing, he is 4.3 seconds behind james cottingham, so that's the gap second to third, third to fourth, then records john ferguson is 19.
Sorry, 13.9 seconds, so three Mercedes AMGs are second, third and fourth, but there is some separation between them. alex maliakim crosses the line uh in fifth place now for red line racing in the lamborghini 5.8 seconds behind ferguson eight and a half seconds ahead of mia blew it up in the mclaren 76 and that's where that big battle group now There are six seven eight nine Balth Jones fluid balloons on your screen now and there is damage to the audi. It looks like some of the bodywork is rubbing against the left rear tire and Nick Jones has lost two places on this lap, so something happened I guess in the final sector.
Yes, the Audi. What we call the galaxy panel is missing behind the left rear so it's definitely taken a hit, you can see the tire much more clearly on the left and right so a bit of aero quickly slips out of the house a there in the When you come out of the old hairpin it's hard to see what you're really rubbing against. It looks quite high in the wheel arch. There is a lining in the wheel arch. It's made of carbon, so it's not going to disintegrate, but hopefully it just wears away and you're fine.
It looks less smoky. So he swings the inside of Jones Balf and then sticks it inside. Everything looks good right now. I don't see much content. Oh wow, interesting. From that angle, it looked like Ballon had closed the door and Jones, there really was nowhere to go. and then you got a right front versus a left rear and that was a trajectory of the Porsche going up into the air. The Porsche did well to avoid damage. It was a big hit. More carbon fiber on the circuit. I don't think the Porsche has any damage that I overlooked where the Balf car picked up the damage in all honesty, I was too concerned with the Porsche's stunts, well it certainly didn't pick it up in that little contact, but when we left that shot, it was going to the outside of those two going into this corner, Goddard, so if he was on the outside, he had two cars on the inside, that would make sense as far as there being some contact in the left rear corner, the good news for Sean Valve is that tire is smoking.
It seems to be gone now so the bodywork that was rubbing on the tire has fallen off or worn away enough that that's no longer an issue so that's good news, you can see some of it flapping in the wind but that's It shouldn't be a big problem, this was Nick Holsted's opinion, let's see the little contact here between Nick Jones and Adam Balon, first of all, the Porsche in the air and now outwards. He gets silly, tries to go in the middle of the pair of them and Nick Jones wasn't expecting it, that's where the contact came from, I mean, Valve was ambitious in trying to thread the needle between the two and fair. plays tonight joe is there, he really couldn't have done much at that point, I definitely couldn't have backed down faster than him, so I think Balf was the aggressor in the sense that one paid the highest price, so again yes I'm looking for Ray Steward, why he's probably competing.
Incident. You don't need to do anything else on that one. It's still strange. The first part went wrong. Oh I'm sorry. Balon and Jones got together. That Porsche is built pretty strong. To be fair, there really were two. Big hits, can't see a marking light, not exactly, they went up in the air and fell to the ground, which won't have helped the suspension much either, but yeah, Nick Jones is still going well, he lost a couple of places, but he keeps Hullstead. at bay as they both climb inside Melbourne's hair won't be the most shocking news you hear all day when I tell you that those in plural incidents are being investigated, so the bits of contact between uh first of all 66 and 72 and I'm sure some contact to the head will be investigated as well, but we'll let you know if we get a penalty.
Also the driver stunk up the 26 car's time, that's panic in motorsports, mclaren under investigation, Joe made the point clear. Previously, this is a glorified test session for them, so they may have chosen to leave a driver a little longer than they should have, knowing that it wouldn't really hurt them if they received a penalty, huh, but that. It should be pretty easy to calculate, surely yes, sometimes it can be a legitimate error in terms of the driver identification switch not being turned, so when the driver change happens in the car, it's either driver one or driver one. number two in his British GT. race and if that doesn't activate then maybe the race control has a driver at all times uh and it could be as simple as that but to be honest the penalty for a period of time from the driver at the end of the race is the exclusion.
I don't know what happens mid-race in terms of reviewing, it's something completely new for me, luckily I guess for us it's not going to change the great result at the front of that field, but yeah, it's a rarity to say the least. It's there, Jamie Day chasing Marco Señoretti here, this is for the lead in the GT4 category, the gap is a second and a half and you can see, not in the most recent lap, but in the previous two, an amount of time decent. uh getting taken out of the Ford Mustang ahead of again two silver rated drivers this is a genuine battle and Matt Topham is still four seconds behind Jamie Day so again Topham has really strong pace to keep that car in the contest, but keep in mind the third.
Secondly, Aston Martin will have 20 seconds to serve on the pit stop in their final pit stop as a penalty for winning at Silverstone, so one might as well take into account that the two silvers have 14 seconds to serve anyway, they are the three cars in The contention really isn't it, the academy is racing and even with its 20 second success penalty at New Bridge Motorsport, yes that Mustang will be sick of an Aston GT4 at the end of the day, I think it would be the first I've seen R Racing take on the Mustang today, it's always been Turner's best Aston so far, but yeah, it's going to be interesting, the good news is that at least the academy car knows the team's strengths and weaknesses. different from aston, but will have very similar characteristics in this sense in how it generates its lap time just over an hour into round number four of the

intelligent

bunny british gt championship and that's how tight the lead is in gt4 gt3 being dominated by morgan tilbrook oh why did I say that drive-through penalty for our races and the commentator's curse is strong today?
Isn't that right at Donington Park in the second place car in gt4? uh, it changes to what a day is now, isn't it for Jamie's day? There's also 40 seconds left of this time before they reset, so we're really unlucky, we're also getting car 22 from a drive-through penalty, so that's the valve car. It says track limit, so I don't think there's anything in the contact that was under investigation, it's just a simple track limit, one again, which is really difficult, very difficult, um, we move on to loggie, that BMW we said Before, it is very difficult to overtake a slower one. car when he's in the same category, the timing screen says logging did a 36 on his last lap and for reference, the costume did a 29, so we're looking at a six second time loss and he's still behind and you will see that bmw generates its lap time by sheer current and by this i mean power, look at it, the time lost from the monkey coming out of there and when you consider six seconds lost, it should pass that car almost as easily as a gt4 in some respects , it's interesting to see. when we see the car looks good braking he just has to regroup he would have lost all his rhythm that's what's hard for him now but if he doesn't pass betty in the next four corners that day is probably over for a win race for mcleod. he won't be able to recover from that, no, absolutely, he's back on track with Betty, now he might be able to get inside Goddard's head, there's GT4 traffic on the horizon and that's just going to make life even harder, look in, but I can't get there Betty Chen is three turns down here.
You can see the way this is losing time with the number 15 car. This is third and fourth. Remember that with John Ferguson in that number 15. There's not a million miles behind him. with alex maliakin so third fourth and fifth come together here, courtesy of the fact that a car that is three laps down is not moving out of the way of the left lead car, ah, it has moved out of the way of the leading black car. because Betty Chen walks into the pit lane, thank goodness he says he and the record, yeah I think he would have paid a lot of money to get that car into the pits so we'll check the bag transfer history between the lobby and Central Motorsport on that case, but that. it's going to hurt him because even his last night was a 34 so you're looking in the 10 second time loss area and like we say the pros are tight so mcleod make up that deficit against lewis williamson at the merc in front o even to take cover from uh ferguson's number 15 car, that's great now, but from college to powell, that's going to be really hard, that's going to hurt, it's literally like putting salt in a very open wound, uh carl, a team manager. from car 66 to race control, now that's the Parker team, so the Porsche that we can see directly ahead here as we ride on board with Nick Holstead, potentially about to take a penalty, you don't normally take someone to race control to tell you that you will not receive a penalty, so we will wait for official confirmation, but I assume this is for at least one of the parties. of contact that we saw in that third sector a few laps ago, yes, I alluded to us not having var and a football style before, but obviously we have so many camera angles capable of using, so race control will use that CCTV in the boards, even television footage in some instances to review the situation, so you would have been called up and the officials will basically file a case against you, unfortunately, it is never for you and they will leave, that is why we are acting Consequently, you have the opportunity to argue it.My favorite type of argument is: Please, can we just take care of the race and present more evidence and data, but they usually know I'm lying and won't concede?
Let's see, Nick Halstead is behind the 66. The team probably hasn't told Nick Jones on that part of the 66 as an investigation, no point adding stress to the driver's shoulders, just let him get on with the job and it will be what Will it be in terms of penalties, yes, well, come on. I hope not, because it's been a decent race for the parker team and scott malvin's speed before was quite impressive, they could still be in the top five at the end of the race, although they lost almost 10 seconds, actually, uh, front to adam balon and Ballon has dropped 10 seconds to be a fluid who has also dropped 10 to Alex Malikins, the whole group that was very close, there was a real disparity actually in the lap times, I mean you have Malikin in the last lap in traffic to 31, but then anything between a low to mid 28 to a minute, one minute, 31 in that group of cars and that only allows the gaps to extend slightly uphill again, Nick Holstein is struggling to get close enough to the Porsche to get into mclean's. corner and this is exactly the type of corner we're running in that dirty air, you'll start to feel it, it's just a pretty fast corner, Mclean's and if you start to lose that downward force, the nose starts to deviate and then that means "You're not close enough to get into the parts of the circuit where you can exactly pass, it's unbearably painful and, as I've said again, the dirty air really affects the front of these cars, especially as it's very difficult to follow them for a period." prolonged time that really makes it even more important to act fast, that was close coming out of the pits, although for a split second everyone is fine, uh, and what I find really interesting, suddenly, the pace is light. , lighting up our timing screens again, it will be the fuel coming out of these arms, but without sounding like an obsessive meteorologist, Michael Fish vibrates, the sun has set and I think the track temperatures have dropped again, so another nightmare for the teams, potentially their last period, the pros will be arriving shortly, where do they get tired?
As for the pressure, if the sun comes out again they will be too high, the sun stays in, they may be too low, it's almost like you know what you're talking about, it's dropped two degrees in the last ten minutes or so, the track temperature it's crazy to think that two degrees would make that much difference, but that's how sensitive these particular cars can be, tires to track temperatures john ferguson here we've been documenting the way it's been catching ian logging now of course , the big loss of time on lap 77, which was the last lap in which Loggie was stuck behind Betty Chen, but on lap 78 he wasn't and on lap 79 he wasn't a distributor and still the gap is closing reducing, so John Ferguson remembers in his first.
The GT3 racing season, having raced the Toyota GT4 a year ago, is really getting faster with each race and this car is taking third place. Mercedes, yes, and ian logging is one of the benchmarks, so being in sister cars so you know the setup. It will also be quite similar in equipment levels. This is some really good work by Ferguson. Really impressive. It is the best. I've seen him drive with quite a margin too and you never know, maybe Power's Ulysses has come in with a bit. He has a new idea on how to train John and he can unlock that rhythm and even in the race he could have helped him with some things, but let's see what Loggie can do.
Obviously it's got a bit of GT4 traffic now, but Ferguson looks fast and the car's body language looks strong, this could be a pretty interesting race going on here too, two tenths, the best that number 15 car has achieved in so far this season, one at Alton Park, one at Silverstone, the race between them is really bottoming out through the crater corners there, the middle race that second race in the autumn was the one where jb caroline crashed in the top of Clay Hill and when the heavens opened, so, yeah, they haven't had this pace most of the time.
Definitely and it's good to see them running right now consistently and strong deep into the race. Jbj. By the way, the penalty has been inserted and now we are about to make the third pit stop. Yes, this is the last pit stop for this car. Okay, interesting then. it's just that the drive-through kills them again, it's going to be hard for them to recover just by going back to that mercedes that passed by there, which was a great closing speed, especially when you consider that stillbrook, the am against jones, another battering ram, what is jones? what he was going to do here and he made his intentions clear by cutting the nose off the front of that McLaren and Tilbridge.
The pace had been very good again, he got a good pace, obviously he has a 30 second gap so the risk levels must be low. The problem is here because he is the leader. Neither of these cars want to lose a lap. If they go too low and the safety car comes out, they're out of the race, so you get really uncomfortable with the sporting spirit and I do that. myself so I'm not taking any liberties in what I say about these guys that you have to defend to give you that lifeline and this is really a bleeding time and I actually think Nick Jones is trying to help them. the front foot and now it looks bold, so it was an interesting move by all of them.
I think Nick Jones was almost caught in two minds about what to do. The team tells me to defend, but I know that morally it is not the right thing to do. do and I think that by trying to do the right thing he cost himself because he always had to stop entering the circade and that allowed him to go so well up to eighth position now then uh like uh tilburg gives them a lap and John leaves ferguson what is happening at the old hairpin and the number 15 car that has been going so well has had a drama now fortunately it hasn't hit anything else I don't think it went over the barriers that's just a high speed spin in the old hair bin and this joe is how he did it yeah and last lap he seemed nervous and was actually going to comment on how much kirby used and you can see the bottoms of the car there we saw the exact same thing with cottingham see you later .
Perelli signs them good publicity and just bottoms out and takes all the grip out of the tires because they are in the air and interestingly they are not wireless or bluetooth yet so they don't connect any grip except power. In the car I just remember that at school there was always a kid who would push your chair away when you were about to sit down, he feels like that when you hit the sidewalk, it goes from the base of your spine to your eyeballs. and they want to fall, so not only does it hurt, but he just lost about 10 seconds and now he's lost a spot to Malakin, so someone commenting on his curse about him being on the front foot catching Loggie has now lost him a position so all I can do is apologize on that front I have to be careful who we talk about next it will really happen then john ferguson that's one way that's not out of line in any way they had a good gap over most of the rest of the gt3 field but as you said alex maliakim moves to fourth position now on the red line racing lamborghini uh towards the red gate he goes then and i think john could give a little more room to that curve this time on the old hairpin uh, that seems to always get more severe with each year, that curve never used to present much of a problem, but, for some reason, maybe it's been reprofiled now, it's a big obstacle when they hit it and John, yes, this gets so broad. that he almost missed the apex, so to stay away from the corner, I can't say I'm playing against him, yes, exactly, and I think it's also interesting to see this one here, so we had the two c cars leading before the pit stops, both I made a pit stop and came out and that 22 deficit between the 343 lasting in the pits and 403, I think they got stuck, the pit lane was so busy that the enduro was locked in here and they are the final garage, so they have clearance, while two seas are a little bit higher in the middle and I think they probably had 20 seconds to put the car on skids, get it to the fuel pad and lower it back to the ground before they can start to load fuel. and that's what we've seen, however, the gap is 32 seconds, so you would say that the enduro car has been about 12 seconds faster with its little traffic or pure pace, but it's really interesting to see and you can work.
Calculate the minimum pit stop time of one minute 50. If you've done two pit stops, the fastest you could have done it is three minutes forty, so you're looking at three and four second enduro and ramps. They've really hit the mark on that. one really makes sense because the enduro was the fastest in both qualifying sessions yesterday, for both the morning riders and the pros. In the morning session they were about a tenth and a half faster than the ducey racing, which was illbrook versus cottingham, but then marcus clutton left. About three tenths faster than Lewis Williamson did in the pro session.
Now, if you can take two three tenths a lap off someone over a stint that could be 20 or 30 laps or more, which will add up over time, then maybe you'll give them a little bit of a good thing. fortune for you or rather a fortune for them in traffic and it's quite easy to see how these very large gaps can develop, especially when a team is operating as well as enduro motorsports, at the moment they clearly have that point optimum. here at Darlington Park, where they would do it at the end of last year and now here they are dominating once again, although perhaps better than any other team they know how these things can get out of your hands in the last hour of the race and, in In a way, having this big head start gives them more time to think of all the clever ways they could throw this away and I'm sure it's definitely going to be on Morgan's mind, so it seems like they've gotten pretty lucky with the traffic alone.
Every time he passed a It looks pretty clear, obviously we saw that in the last corner he lost a lot of time, but he did it again when we got back in the Mustang, it feels like it was the first time today that we have an Aston Martin. whether it's a yard in front or a yard behind it sounded like a bit of wheel spin, the front fork can't work, it's just the note that the engine is lighting it up as we watch Malekin's box for his final pit stop, unfortunately for that team. They have that last race success penalty, so that will really put them down in the order. 15 seconds will probably be worth two or three spaces.
You would have thought you would leave them in that kind of fluid balloon period right behind them, two spots behind. although of course adam balon's bar car has 20 seconds to serve so will go in favor of the red line, a five second shorter pit stop in theory, but yes they will lose at least one place once Let's all be said and done here and Imagine it's the last pit stop, so for redline racing, the third stop is where you serve the success penalties you have to serve, so once that has elapsed minimum pit stop time of 110 seconds, they will stay there for another 15 seconds.
In that case, to make sure they comply with the pit stop regulations, so Malik, then from fourth position, the first of the front riders to come in and make that third and final pit stop and wait to see Where does the other one come from? By the way, the gt3 car has a service success penalty. I just got shot three times, that was the bentley uh asceto motorsport. This car does not have a service success penalty. He has the leadership of the class. uh, marco celiaretti, driving very, very well here, marco, uh, who. is in his first season of British GT racing, has raced a bit in Canada in Nissan Micros of all things and has really managed to adapt well to the GT car over the last year or so of driving GT cars, but Topham in his second season from british gt racing uh what a fantastic driver here he has become the best bronze rated driver, but knocking on the door surely, being a silver rated driver at the speed he has, he is six and a half seconds behind leader of the race and is four and a half or so ahead of Will Arde in third position.
An interesting season for Wilbur's new teammate this year, but Will and Century Motorsport couldn't stop winning last year, winning three races, two of them in the first half of the season this time. Although it's all been a matter of consistency, isn't it really difficult? I think that when you finish ayear so it's almost like what can we do to improve because you don't know where the measuring stick is and I think some new teams have done that. Come in, we also have some new cars in gt4 and I think it's an even bigger increase. We used to look at the gt4 as the second class was slower, it was newer, there weren't as many manufacturers, but I just know, from a personal McLaren perspective, how much emphasis we put on the GT4.
We have a new car coming out next year in development and it will literally be the new GT3 GT4 class the cars are getting faster they are getting hot and sexy the racing is so good we should definitely never overlook the GT4 class and that's why we see it becoming more and more competitive, I think there's not much, I don't like it, I mean the cars still look and sound amazing. They are still the cars that most kids will have posters of on their bedroom walls. It's Aston Martins and Mercedes and McLarens and all that and the racing is better in a way because.
You don't have that aerodynamic problem that we've talked about several times with the GT3 cars, which was almost a problem for Adam Ballen, who after being nerfed into a spin in that quarter of this race, I'm sure. I wouldn't have wanted to do the same to me, although it was fluid, they are fighting for fifth position at the moment. Balan looks faster, but he again can't get the overlap on the right side of the track to make the move he is pushing hard. In the previous half of the eleven set, we saw Mia box out of her way, so luckily she didn't stop further and she didn't make a risky move that would have been pretty useless, but Allen keeps going. further up you can imagine that he is in his last two or three laps of the stint the waves taking the tire out of that corner there will not be much rubber left if it lasts long so that he can stop on the paddle of the team door 76 opens to the driver on the difficult part, sometimes closer to the doors the window collar can get close that's why it's not super fast you're just taking your time to make sure everything is there as we see the mustang it's not a spoiler rear drs which is one of the peculiarities of how to refuel that car the fuel nozzles for the car are actually inside the trunk so it's a quick movement of the trunk, open it and then you see fuel coming out.
I need one of them for my road car, I hate filling up my car but it's completely useless and a waste of time but they're going to get back on track pretty quickly yeah I never realized that before all the stops in pits that I have seen. British GT, the speed with which fuel is pumped into the car is remarkable. The correct fuel is done in all 76 teams and now the tire change and the driver change happen at the same time, you cannot touch the car while you are refueling it, but once the refueling is finished, the tire change by driver part can happen at the same time, just another safety feature to keep pit crews away from the car, uh, while the fuel is coming in.
Yes, it's hard to explain even now, I'm out of the car. You said oh, if you made your driving shift as fast as you could, what would you do? I would now say that I would buckle up and go in the heat the moment I got in the car and shut the door. I turned off the door and buckled up on my way out and, unfortunately, that was how racing used to be. start of my GT career and, without stating the obvious, it was quite dangerous, so introducing a minimum launch time only introduced safety. and it's fair that if everyone does the same minimum time then it's a fairer fight on the track, so sometimes it seems a bit slow and not as exciting as in F1 where they have a million people changing two tires in a canoe driving through a tax haven. principality for example, but still allows the race to be adequate, the mustang was actually moving there, just with a slight slope in the pit lane, the driver was probably looking at something on the dashboard and didn't realize it was going moving until the paddle hit it. on the windshield, yeah, that shouldn't be a major problem, although they managed to get your attention.
Matt Cowley, who is entering the Mustang academy who was leading the class and of course with our race having that penalty that they had to serve before. This now makes this an academy versus a New Bridge battle academy. They were about six seconds ahead of New Bridge when they made that stop and Newbridge's final pit stop will be about six or seven seconds longer than the Mustangs', so it should be that way. class leading car uh once the pit stop is made uh third and final cycle of pit stops the question will be what the gap is and can Darren Turner overcome that deficit.
I mean, you wouldn't bet against that, would you? If you put Darren Turner. in about 10 seconds of the class leader, he has every chance of doing it, yes, the remaining stint time is decreasing at an alarming rate, I suddenly looked up, we only have 42 minutes left, the last half hour has really gone by evaporated. on us, so it's going to be difficult. Now that they also have extra weight in that new bridge car, they don't have that advantage in a lot of ways, especially towards the end of the race, those extra 25 kilos that they basically have. "I've been given the Topham pace, I'm just going to have to work hard and Donington is the hardest track we visit as British GT at the break, so the wear and tear, the temperatures, everything is high and the extra weight is just It means extra negative energy in the car you have." You have to stop every time you step on the brake, yes, it's exactly a difficult place and most of that, I guess, in that final sector because it's a very big stop, especially in the next corner of Melbourne heritage, uh, because you carry so much lots of speed out of the chicane and then it's downhill there's also the new bridge built on top to stay out now they'll want to get Darren in asap as he's almost run out of road there through uh starkey and Schwandt is trying to get out of the way between you and Hanky.
Yes, they want to get Darren in as soon as possible, but of course they have to make sure it doesn't exceed that maximum travel time of 100 minutes so that Darren Turner can be there. Looking forward to jumping into this car and will have to serve that 20 second pit stop success penalty too, but for now relatively clean air and Matt Totten's pace, I think this is the best thing about having a fast app. You can be a little more flexible, especially in GT4, where there aren't as many professional drivers competing. You can be a little more flexible with your strategy.
It's not that crazy of a rush to get the ammo out of the car. Yes, he keeps it open. You can go a little further and potentially have some luck with the safety cars, as we see a new battle emerging now with wasting time in the car against Halstead. Will be interested once they get Rob Bell back in that car with Halstead. How is that? It will be, but Dawlin is really pushing that car, he's, he's, he's actually the highest-ranked pro already in the car, so he'll be able to go, but every lap he's behind, how stable will he stay? there and a little interesting.
Dynamic House, that's his regular teammate Jamie Stanley, he's actually not doing this race because of his brother's wedding, so I'm not really keen on anyone missing a British GT race, not even my wife. I would have missed my own wedding, but it's going to be hard for him to watch this at home with the dead people in the back of the house and Dorden is really trying to force the issue, but he doesn't seem to have a particularly easy answer. Houston is positioning that car very well, a little wide, potentially entertaining. Get on the gas, take the nose, it's going to be tough, it's not a great rest area up here in the copse, get the Houston interior to fight pretty hard in all the millimeters between their rearview mirrors, all clean, and now lose Time can unlock the rhythm you need. he needs to start maximizing his extra period, I think he could get into the low 27s, which would be really really fast considering that extra pit stop penalty, they're really up there, uh, yeah, and that's why the whole step was "I defend that because with the success penalty for the redline car it is possible that these two cars are fighting for position at the end of the race because Holster has done this quite impressive period in the pit lane, which I think is motorsport in the paddock".
But they had a locker room problem earlier today when the left respect collapsed towards the end of the session, but they fixed it pretty quickly they got the car out, we haven't seen much of that, but Calvin Fletcher was seventh. the moment it stopped and right behind it comes the fifth place car, so Adam Balon is here to hand over to Sandy Mitchell and that car has to spend an extra 20 painful seconds in the pits because of its victory in the last race at Silverstone. so expect that to cost them quite a bit too and of course that's another car that Fox Motorsport could overtake once this cycle stops.
Yeah, the pit lane looks pretty quiet at the moment, obviously there are two cars inside. I can see the Parker team car. the driver for his gt4 car and the stop board i think for his gt3 car but it doesn't look like anyone is stopping for the next two laps so tilbury cost loggie ferguson we have seen ballon who just came in in the pits and still has plenty. There are only a few radio amateurs in the car, so we will potentially have two or three laps with these guys before all the professionals start racing towards the Czech flag.
Yeah, and this is again one of the interesting things about these three hour races because it's very rare that we see the pros and the ams sharing the track because they tend to have their own stints set within the shorter races, the races. from one hour and two hours, wherever it is three hours, again you are much freer to do what you want. What I want with the strategy out of the shots is the Barwell Lamborghini that had that tremendous victory, just one at Silverstone of course, over the garage 59 uh mclaren, which was a race by race entry, but it was a brilliant and brilliant battle at the end of that race.
At Silverstone they're not going to be in contention to win this one, it seems, but again, it's these races where things don't go to plan, they've got the spin, they've got the success penalty, the points you can take away from a race. A day like this is the points that will end up winning championships, yes definitely, and you see that on the track there is a great camera shot of the red line of the lambo passing the amber bar, which is still stationary, so that's really all the points you just raised. typified his day, but for the championships you just need to pick those points that you need to bring when the sun isn't shining in this case and at the end of the season that's the point or two that you might need to see Barwell's car pull away from Bentley. grinding out a little more work on the body, a little more on its left side, it looks like the side skirt is probably being affected by all the extra air that's being pushed through it, that's pretty big, as we see that it will be. oh no, what was that?
Sandy Mitchell went around the corner like a safety car and I think that car is buried in the gravel at Redgate and is very close to the edge of the road, I mean, fresh out of the pits. The first thing you probably do as a driver is look in the mirrors to see who's there, but of course he's fighting with that number 66 card now in Scott Molven's hands for position and he didn't want to let Scott pitch, neither did he. did. I don't know that Scott was there or that he was super aggressive. Obviously, Mulvane is fully up to speed and commits early.
It's not lunch unless he has a magic potion to make a Porsche dock. It's easier there. The big guys on board here from both seas have to have a look, Malvin is there, he can't go any further, right, he even keeps braking trying to avoid contact. The movie can't do anything and in its opinion you shouldn't have to if I were in Scott's position in that Porsche, I'm there. Friend, where do you want me to go? It's all up to you and look at it, we just said Dave Dunn, after all he needs to do is win back the championship points, the commentator's curse is incredibly strong, he's sure stranded and even in a really bad situation. position I don't think they'll get it back as far as they let it go is a live start, it's hard to do quickly under a home yellow in my opinion, I've seen them do it before here at Dollington there.
I have to say that even when you are right on the edge of the road, they will try to move you under the yellow flags, which is better in some ways for the race because, again, this would have been a very bad time for a safety car because some are installed and someThey haven't done it last but yeah I disagree, look at the safety of the car, the marshall and the jcp for me, that's too much risk, you couldn't pay me enough money to put up with the jobs. What the stewards do is incredible, the bravery they show is through the roof, but for me, a safety car I hope to escape from him and nothing happens to me and everything is fine, but I don't think they will allow it to restart personally.
The way they're going to drag it out, I'm not sure you'll be able to get back on track like we saw with the geneta before, is what I'm getting at. There is an access point just to the buried door on the left. corner which is actually where the remote handler is parked when not in use, they could just release it at that time. I can send it on its way, we don't know if there's any damage to the right side of that. car, of course, so you may as well make that decision for them, potentially allowing them to recover some points that perhaps another day they wouldn't recover.
Actually we're also seeing a black and orange flag for the Bentley so he has to pit now to get recovered when we see the race leader boxing for his final scheduled pit stop uh and everything seems to be going pretty well on this time yes, morgan tilbrook will be out marcus clutton will be in once the fuel has entered the car uh that incident by the The road between Team Park and Barwell is being investigated, no big deal. Surprise and none of this really has anything to do with it with enduro motorsport. They were last checked 33 seconds ahead of the rest of the group.
This is an important pit stop, although in GT4, this is a new bridge motorsport that connects Darren Turner, uh, for the last 34 minutes. of the race, we anticipate that this car will come out, I estimate between 10 and 12 seconds, maybe behind the academy Ford Mustang, someone has been offered copper, but yes, that will be an important stop for sure, yes, obviously, They have their Silverstone success penalty of 20 seconds, so that silver is actually only six seconds faster than their pit stop, so it's actually a really interesting dynamic, the returning Bentley still has a lot of work to do on it. the body, but obviously the technician would have been next to that car.
Surely it was safe to rejoin and be in a position to do so. You can see it had new tires because you could see the stickers on the tires spinning as he passed us, in fact, right on board with Matt Cowley and then into the last corner, when, uh, Darren. Turner was released last time just before the academy car came into the pits, he was about six or seven seconds ahead on this card, like you said his pit stop will be six or seven seconds faster, so here goes , passes in front of the Aston Martin, it will be a big gap, this don't get me wrong, but darren turner, in theory, should be a little faster than matt cowley, so there goes the overall leader of the race, which is marcus clutton , back to the race, not a single car in the distance. but that is the wpi car that is somewhat out of the competition and they are the gap with some of the other gt3 cars that are still waiting for their pit stop but still darren turner sits in the pit lane so i think my calculations were wrong.
It's not 10 or 12 seconds, it could be almost double, yes, there is interest, now go to Cotingham in the second place car, obviously now at the head of the race, the gap is very difficult to visualize because he owes us a additional pit stop. I should be about 30 seconds behind that mclaren enduro so I think the race for the lead will be pretty far off unless something happens but from second to sixth I think it will be really interesting See how it develops Will Burns is there too in the bmw motorsports of the century that had just taken the lead in the uh gt4 class, so that car will be in and then it will give the lead back to Matt Cowley, I think in the Ford Mustang, those better ones. three within the class, all in the pits and all have been in the top three or four all day, and it doesn't seem to matter what the launch strategy is, those have been the three cars along with the r race car, uh . who have found their way to the top of the gt4 pile there goes uh ian loggie he's second on the road from time to time we've got these three mercedes amg going longer than everyone else cottingham logging in ferguson We saw the same thing during their professional counterparts time and time again, the team is now re-timing this to determine what is the earliest point at which we can bring these cars in, make the driver change and get our fastest drivers out there. clue, but I anticipate that it will be so.
Other laps, yes, and obviously we talked about the maximum being 100 minutes just to clarify how it is measured. That's wrong when the driver leaves the pit lane, starts and at the end of the race, where the clock stops, not if they have an extra lap. We are looking at the enduro car. I really want to hear from Morgan Tilbury how today went. What does he say? Brynn, I'm sorry, Andy, uh, yeah, and we're going to go there. Let's go there, into the world with uh Morgan. Tillbrook uh he's down there with Brynn Well Morgan, everything went according to plan for you, didn't it?
I mean, you're about 30-odd seconds ahead of when you got out of the car and you told me you're a little worried about sharing. of debris on the track, yes, there has been a lot of contact for sure, especially at the chicane, but also in some other corners, so some drove around some debris and I have seen that there have been some hits close to the reason and another car, so I'm just trying to Try to avoid that debris to make sure we can get the car home, so you don't need a clean, clean, clean, clean, clean, clean car, 20 laps now or safety car or safety car, but you know, we just used one set of tires and fp fp1 fp2.
Started today in a very good place to tie, so Marcus is new now, so 20 laps of new tires fueled during the semi laps, I'm back at the same price with a safety car, um, I'm more worried . over track limits, debris, gravel, but you know, it will be a great way to recover from Silverstone, if we can win this, just drive, avoid the debris and you don't have a safe car and then it will be fine, and then spray it on the back, brilliant regards. Guys, we've said a lot about uh Morgan Tillbrook during this race and indeed over the last season and a half, considering that his first appearance in British GT was when he crashed on the warm-up lap of the first career of him. in Bran's hatch early last year and now here he is perhaps on his way to his second championship win, but one of the most dominant performances we've seen in quite some time, I don't want to put the knockers on it.
There was almost half an hour left, but up to this point the performance of this team was impeccable. Yeah, maybe you'd just criticize his start in terms of losing the lead in the first period, but it was pretty well calculated, it wasn't like he was conservative. It was actually a very good job by this car we are looking at and this driver, James Cotingham, but other than that, as you said, the impeccable James again has not made a mistake neither I nor teammate Lewis Williams said it, believe. It was just getting caught in the pits under the first safety car, maybe they could have waited a lot longer.
We saw that that seems to have quite positive results for some teams, but it's hard to say yes, it can't be long until we get the pros. We go back in and see what we have to deal with, but yeah, if I were a betting man, which I am, I'd say the gap is going to be about 36 37 seconds from the jury leader that he got last time I checked was about 33. So yeah, I agree with that because of course they also now have their fastest driver in Marcus Clutter. None of those leading GT3 cars have success penalties to satisfy, by the way, so these gaps should be pretty genuine.
Marcus Club, by the way, does the fastest lap of the race going forward, doing 126.309 and setting a new lap record here at Donnington Park on the Grand Prix circuit as well, but yeah, there are no success penalties for the four or top five. The first car that was successful to be added was James Dawley's number 32 car card, of course he now laughs much faster than the ams that remain on the track, so that car is not out of the battle of the podium still on the red line. car no, we're definitely going to that, we've seen a lot on the track today and there are the other cars potentially, um in the top three, I think this is the battle for the handkerchief 76 mclaren lace chairs with mia flew, look at it.
Diving into the chicane squeezing in all that debris on the outside looks like some kind of war zone there the pace looks pretty good right? the more um sorry dawlin and hanky tenth in second on the last lap it looked like mclaren won a little so hard in a big layby there's always an accordion when we see the Ram Car Loggy coming out taking the seat insert with his McLeod cannon closing the door behind the line, the pit stop procedure begins, so that will be a lovely feeling for McLeod, the filling should be short, so normally to fill the car it is 85, 90 kilos of fuel in 40 seconds, they only need half of it, so this fuel should be pretty short, it doesn't mean they will come out of the pits faster, but yes.
That means they will only have between 40 and 50 kilos of fuel in that car. I'm just trying to take a look at those tires to see if their new Pirellis have a sticker on them and that's why Americans call them stickers and it just means you've got another two or three laps of extra pace to burn off anyone who doesn't have a set. of stickers uh yeah and again the teams will plan this from the beginning of the weekend when they use their new tires to try to keep a pair. uh or a set I should say uh by the end of the race it looks like the tire change and the front ones are already done, they are just starting on the rear ones, I'm not sure if they are stickers, I think they have been used but minimally, yes , they'll probably rub so yeah, they've probably done a few laps in practice or qualifying so they'll still be fresh, but this new Pirelli dhf, especially the first two laps, they're incredibly fast, you're looking at like eight eight tenths. to a second faster on those first two laps we're qualifying on is obvious, but if you manage to save a set for the race, suddenly they give you a lead of a second and a half to two seconds, it should be tempting though.
When you feel all that grip under you start pushing hard and taking too much off the tires. There's a big inward dive and handkerchief on James Dawlin. This is genuine 4th position and could end up being for a place on the podium, once all is said and done we are still waiting for a few more to pit but over the next few laps we will have a clearer idea of what position. There are exactly these two, something we know for sure. they are absolutely together on the track and hanky seems faster, i think mcleod just made the jump here like we saw malvin and sandy before, although the cars on the track are already up to temperature at a pace, so for me mcleod he's got a second and a half or two for Dawlin and Hanky, but this first sector, two sectors for McLeod, he just needs to keep going and that's where he had those new tires.
His life would have been a little easier with you. I don't think they were new. uh, but it's hard to say, even if hanky hadn't made that move on dorlin, they probably both lost three or four tenths on the previous lap, this is going to be a mega battle and I'm trying to think who I want to be the most here in this situation cloud has track position dawn looks the fastest but then hanky has caught dawl so he obviously has some pace and it's pretty hard to tell mcleod is a really gritty driver , so it wouldn't be.
He's an easy pass, so I think I'm picking Cal McCloud. Okay, I think I'll probably agree with you. However, I would make an argument in your favor and Hanky is the racist here because he set that car's fastest lap of the race, the number. Car 76 about six laps ago, Dawlin still hasn't gone as fast in this period as he did earlier in the race, so right now Dawlin isn't getting the full potential out of that car, while you and Hanky They go as fast as that car did. all day so at the right time in the race they got the mclaren running well yeah we had a really good example of the center in that gt for us doing that indicator i said about an inch off the chicane that gave him allowed macleod to pass more easily.
He didn't point at the fork because he didn't really want to waste time or pass the tissue and that's why everyone wasted a little time, that's the flow and thatcooperative nature that is needed between the drivers in the multiclass system and uh then we go back to clutton there so it's interesting to see how everyone did there and it really shows the advantage that cotton has, it's close to overtaking those cars from the That we're talking about the potential podium, it's pretty incredible, isn't it? It's the pace they've had and it's been relentless, you can see the two seas and the ram racing Mercedes coming out of the pits, meaning now everyone within the GT3 ranks has made their final pit stop of the day.
Success penalties were served at the end of the next round. We will properly see what the gaps are between them. Everyone Clinton has been through already knows he will lead the race, but what will that gap be? Yeah you can see a little bit of marking, I said it wasn't marked before, the two Mercedes de Mar that are up front on the left, which has the perfect height of that wall of tires over the chicane, so they've obviously been nibbling on it , they're lucky to get their way, it's a pile of tires with a conveyor belt around it, but even though it's not full of concrete, it's so heavy that you're looking at 16 tires, so a good 10 kilo mass I'd say you're trimming That's when we see this car come out and it seems to be in a pretty clear space in terms of competition, the Greystone GT3 car is not up to the position, so we keep looking back and the Bentley is not missing half of its front end either, that It's the next car in the final podium position, so first and second.
It may seem a little set, but this podium position is definitely up for grabs with the three GT3 cars currently on shoot mixed in with all those GT4s. Exactly, these will not be a simple last 23 minutes of the race. Here, is it Marcus Clinton? then he goes three or two on his 102nd lap of the race, like I said, there's only a little over 20 minutes left in this fourth round of the championship, look how dirty it is off the line, huh, through the crater corners, callum mcleod, although he is now starting to gain a lead on dolan and hanky, so as they continue to fight for fourth place, the third place car starts to build a little more margin up the hill, they go there, there is james' black lamborghini dawlin behind the black, red and blue maclaren of you and hanky.
Being delayed a bit by the Britt McLaren team but I think that will be the fight for fourth place and the more they fight the further ahead McCloud will be, yeah just a flicker of the windshield wipers on Dorlin's car, I guess it was by mistake. because I can't believe he's raining on the comment box. There are only blue skies here so it should be absolutely Okay, we see this gt4 battle lighting up the collar with incredible pace at the end of the straight, pass the gt4 mclaren through the track chicane boundary and it starts to get a little looser again, we still get warnings, the collar car is really good.
At this point, I hope the race director misses that you're hurtling down the hill. What I like about this supra is so high but it generates a lot of role in the grip. It's a pretty nice car to look at, you can physically see where it builds grip as you hit the brakes, the front dives, then the loaded corner the right front settles in and as you accelerate it goes forward and then cuts nicely to create mess. and as you pass, everyone flashes their headlights, now no one really cares about being friends at this point in the race, disorder comes and goes and, uh, it's quite rare in a race, especially a british gt one, which You get such a commanding lead and Marcus is a hot guy, he's actually not just a driver for the team.
He does a lot of work behind the scenes, so he understands the effort that goes into it, but he'll just sit back and relax a little bit and that means with all these traffic cars he has to get. Other than you don't have to lift your wrist, it's interesting that we go back to the GT4, uh, Aston was obviously way up there, so it's interesting to see where it's going to be in the mix, just trying to work on it, we're going to see a repetition. the left front brake wow that's dramatic and you see it coming out the front which is just connected to the brake duct so that's where the air normally comes in and it should be at absolutely operating temperature uh but that has to be difficult and the nature of donating part, the hardest part of the brakes is sector 3, which is where you are right before you pit stop and you have to sit there with no airflow, so that long pit stop and then the new bridge costs them a large amount. of time, obviously, they had penalty number 22 and the ginetta left again, that is, who is in that car now should be Freddy again, right?
I don't think so, Joe Wheeler again, sorry, Joe Wheeler, back in the ascetic car that came down. the old fork and it seems to me that it has stuck that's how it did it it just came loose on the exit without sidewalk very late it almost seemed like a small failure on the left rear because of how quickly it broke trying not to be able to see the tire but the speed at which it was shot or it doesn't move smoothly, it's suspension or tire, it looks tired, doesn't it? The rim sticks out further than the tire which is never a good sign, yeah that's how it broke. a little bit to the side and then he just let go which usually indicates that something is broken and the tire appears to be off the rim, the good news is that you have the car running and could at least get you out of a really dangerous situation. position and hopefully limp back to the pit lane, but this is now just another hurdle for everyone else to negotiate.
He still has more than half a lap left to return to the pit lane and if this is the speed he is going to take. He's got plenty of time to get back, so there's literally a moving chicane here for everyone else to try to avoid and I'm sure he'll do the best job he can of staying out of the racing line and trying to make himself as small as possible. as much of a hassle as possible but that's an unfortunate way to end the race for that team, they went off in the first part of the race, another one here within the last 20 minutes and a track where the geneta really seemed to be at home all weekend, yes, it went very well, right?
It would be interesting if the failure is almost the highest load that the left rear would have, it is very difficult and you always have this balance in active performance with a tire, so sometimes performance of a lower pressure, but unfortunately the pressure lower doesn't give much support to the tire and it's structured, in fact you can end up damaging it and it can be a puncture, just like with camber, sometimes the more camber you run, the faster you go, but smaller. your tire contact patches so you end up overworking it so maybe that's just some of the reasons for what could have happened there but it's got a long way to go I just hope the teams are on the radio with drivers to inform them that the slow car turned six years old and It will probably take two and a half weeks of lapping at normal speed for that car to return to the pits, yes, because it was going up the hill, wasn't it?
This is the fight for eighth place in GT3, Adam Carroll's Audi, Scott Molven's Porsche and actually just a second behind Rob Bell's orange McLaren look there so three of them together eight five and ten uh, They are all about five seconds behind Elise de Pao who is in seventh position and uh, Freddie Tomlinson, I think he just confirmed that he brings what our hypothesis is that the puncture caused the spin rather than the other way around, which we saw happen. he blurted out, we weren't in the geneter in the old head, but yes, quite? a battle group we have here audi porsche and mclaren all together and it is adam carroll's audi who once again has a defensive job to do facing the final part of the race, this time it may not be to win the race, but adam Carroll knows how important it is to score points here, remember that car, that team, Carol Balf came into the weekend as the championship leader along with ian logging's number six, while Loggi's car is in third place, it is crucial that Carroll holds on to this eighth.
It really is the place and it will be a big hit. We saw some of the best defensive driving. I've seen her in a long time at Alton Park. He did such a great job there for so long. It's still going on, so we've seen it. moving at high speed and making some good moves, so it's hard to tell right now. The Porsche seems to last so well at the end of this period. I mean, we haven't really seen the Audi enough to say it's good. or bad, but I know that the Porsche is strong. Rob Bell isn't too far away either, so if there was a potential conflict and clash between those two, Rob Bell would be happy to sweep up the pieces.
You're right about the Porsche. Not only is its pace strong, but the front of that Porsche is quite indestructible. He has taken three pretty solid hits to the front of the Porsche. again with the number 72 lamborghini at Redgate corner before, by the way, you can see the bar car is back there. The number 72 is four laps back, so they were allowed to continue in the race, but they are well out of the scoring positions in At least within the overall ranges of uh gt3, they are 10 of the pro amps and then they get a point and a half for their pro-am campaign, but that's not at all what they're hoping to get out of the day, but yeah, Porsche, uh, it seems. which is hard to kill, yeah, very, very strong, uh, little tank, that thing and it seems to have problems with a little bit of understeer in the mid-corner.
You just saw how much blocking it had and the front end wasn't going the same way. geometry one would expect it to be so maybe the fronts are starting to hurt a little, might have lost a bit of aerodynamics from all that contact just looking at the timing screens, the gap between the first marcus clutter and the second williamson It's almost a surprise minute that really shows how dominant they have been today. It's probably one of the most dominant performances I can remember in a long time in British GT. We have to pull out the record books and see what exactly is the biggest victory we've achieved.
Which we've ever had, but he'll definitely be up there and his pace remains strong 27-1 in the last half for Clutton. The rest of the pros, the next best, is 27.5 and the rest are all in the high 27s, so really. Really impressive in GT for me as this is the fight for third position and that is that our Aston Martin racer of Josh Miller almost keeps Jordan Collard at bay in the old habit of going and collard a little faster on the right. The hander approaches the Aston Martin and a slightly strange line taken there by Miller looks strange through the lefties, but gives him the inside line to mclean's right.
You sacrifice uphill speed to get the inside line. for the next bend, but look at that cabbage right outside, you can tell his dad won a touring car race because he's not afraid to go around the tall, wide, beautiful line at the corner of mclean's and coppice, but look the way they have been caught by sev hopkins this is third fourth and now fifth in gt4 exactly under a blanket and like you said he just saw jordan look directly in his rear view mirror and i think it would have gone well a part went down and that will put the pressure on him to pass his aston even faster good cutback that should be done well there before he hits the brakes Hopkins looking to make three wides should be looking inside Collard can really make this really forceful decision Again it will It stops, you see the Aston through its side window and it drives away.
Always let the Porsche go with him and they'll fight until the last corner which should give Collard a bit of space, potentially a couple of tents if they're fighting, we're on board now behind the collar so you can see it everything, open the lock and the Aston stays in second place, but really, very good race there, yeah, fantastic stuff there, so you move up to third place in the class. then collard miller goes fourth and now Hopkins could surround him on the outside at the red door. He is late on the brakes of the porsche because the aston martin gives him the hip and shoulder at the apex almost more contact at the exit of the corner and now they also have the gt3 paddock motorsport mclaren to take all this into account, martin plowman decides sensibly sit back and let this unfold, they are still side by side, across the dirt, the aston goes and somehow manages to find grip. in the old hair to hold on to the place, but now at the exit the Porsche runs again and Martin Blam and still can't get through these rolls.
The reverse mill is now back and forth so defended so well that there should have been work done here for Hopkins' Porsche. How many spaces are they going to give it outside? That forces him to catch the ground. Good Guy. I like fair racing, but I also want to see the racers do what they need to do. The outside is no place to be on a curve like that, so Ithey took out and gave him the option of driving through the gravel, hitting me or letting off the gas and he opted for the latter quite sensibly, so again if you look at the color and how quickly a group of fighting cars loses time, Queue looks like he has a couple of seconds ahead on Hopkins, now they will be interested to see Hopkins clearly what pace he has, yes absolutely, it is a track with that momentum that is Donaldson.
No, as soon as you start running side by side, it really affects your pace. By the way, this entire group has Darren Turner closing in on Turner for the podium as well and gt4 is definitely in the cards. He's running seventh in class at the moment, but he was just two seconds behind Matty Graham at the start of the lap, who was four seconds behind the group we were watching, so there's definitely a few more positions here for Darren Turner in that view to Justin Martin despite the slow pit. He stops early, there's just under 12 minutes left in the race and Marcus Clutton makes his way through the chicane.
His lap times are in the middle of a minute and 27 seconds, which is quite a bit slower than he's capable of going, but still faster than a lot. everyone else on the track has a cushion of 59.2 seconds on a lap that is only one minute and 27, so he has put in the vast majority of the gt3, feel the lap and see how he gets to the end of the lap that Lewis Williams has not done. Long started his 108th black williamson is 19 seconds ahead of mcleod and dawlin 3.7 seconds behind him and not catching him so mcleod seems to have that third place in hand for now yeah and I think we obviously don't want see such a dominant victory.
We want to see action, but when you put the car in a window it shows you how it works and I can only sometimes relate negatively when the car is outside the window, it feels like you're having an infinite amount of setup changes. to be able to improve the car sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but on the other hand, when the cars in the window are literally not changing anything and I think that's what Endura has done well this weekend, they have come with a quick car and they've just been able to perfect it, make it a little bit faster and give the drivers time just to be able to go around and get their lap time and that really shows, like I said, I think I've absolutely dominated and I don't think anyone else is driving bad.
I haven't seen a car in the top 10, especially the gt3, with poor handling. They all seem pretty well prepared, maybe a little understeer for the Porsche as I said before. but if i stick with mcleod and that car is not around, we have a lot of fast drivers, the start looks good there, but when you think about that gap it's absolutely unreal, it's also interesting because in juro, uh, they didn't really show themselves. their pace in practice they were close to the front in the first session but once you combined the practice times they were only sixth or seventh fastest, it was only when we got to qualifying that they were able to put in two really good efforts and then their race pace .
I guess it's what they've really been working on in those practice sessions which has been phenomenal and you know you could get pole position by a tenth or so, but if you then have three, four, five tenths a lapIf you have the rest of the peloton in your hands, the race will be very, very in your hands and that has been the case for them, they have been relentlessly fast and the race setup they have in that car is working. Perfectly, yes, and practice is always difficult because you don't know it all your life, so the older the tire gets, the slower it goes and with the British GT rules you have great ties from a previous race and they make me believe that They didn't use new tires in practice, allowing them to save them even more for the race, oh, as we watch the Bentley power through the grass and detroiters of interest, if they did the gravel, their car looks pretty good. on this side so if they're going to try and sell it after the race maybe just use pictures of the right side, I think they actually bother a lot with the left rear, it's a weird place to lose it when we just walk away.
The first shot, the left rear, that Bentley seemed to be towing like I said before. The balance after being hit, that just means the back of the car can be very loose because the outside tire wants to go where it's pointing, so when that car. passed by us, if we have a chance to see the left rear, even the right rear seems to be moving, there could be some kind of inherited damage from hitting that pile of tires at the back of the car, uh, there too, potentially, yes, pity. uh there's high hopes for that team this weekend but they're going to struggle to get anywhere near the top twelve now there's eight and a quarter minutes left and here's Darren Turner so this is what we should really be watching , Darren Turner currently. he runs seventh in gt4, that's matty graham ahead of him uh in the number 51 porsche voluga racing porsche and uh that's certainly a position up for grabs for turner matty graham is there two and a half seconds behind josh miller who is less than two seconds behind Hopkins, who is less than a second and a half behind the neck, so that's third fourth, fifth and sixth place, they are all tantalizingly close, uh, for darren turner, he has limited time to do it, I don't think May I get them all. but I think one or two more places before the flag is a possibility, yes it's really a question of what would happen if the extra 20 seconds they lost were not there, they had the 20 second penalty from Silverstone, but the extra 20 seconds from that kind of breakup.
We saw that it's always difficult as a team, they will look back and figure out what they can do differently, like yeah the car is on fire but we really had to lose 20 seconds and sometimes it's better to screw the tire. and get the car running, get the airflow back through it, it's always a little strange sending a car that's on fire away from me, but actually safety also away from the fuel pad, but yeah, that really could have been a what if guess there? goes the abba team car, the six ram racing machine inside too, but yes, this is a very close battle and I wonder if those points that seem to be begging here for a new bridge, maybe they will live to regret that later.
In the season they can't do anything about it now they are just going to try to recover the situation as best they can. Really impressed with our runs today. I think this is the best show we've seen from that Aston Martin team. So far this season and at the moment they sit fifth in GT4, but again they are capable here of maybe winning one more before the flag drops for old hair, but all the Aston just turns the wheel a little . There, as he moves forward to try to chase him, they split the beluga 51 race car in front, who will go james dawlin in fourth place, lamborghini, you and Hanky are still right behind him, isn't that Hank?
He simply he hasn't been able to or he hasn't been able to. to find a way through and that won't have helped, no, definitely not, and it stayed pretty close and it's interesting to see where these cars get their strengths and weaknesses from. I thought before that McLaren seemed good on brakes, but they've really done it. I've seen that again, you just see that sometimes the lucky handkerchief is that the last two GT4 cars hurt him and helped Dawlin, obviously off camera, it could have been the other round with others, but suddenly now he has to dig deeper to try to I found out that for half a second it was probably compromised and I actually saw the cars sinking into the brakes there and when we talked about that brake fire, it might seem like that's a problem, but it's literally just physics, there's so much energy created. here. on the brakes, can you really allude to that, like you're driving down the road and suddenly you need to make an emergency stop and in the modern car the hazard lights now come on, which is not particularly useful because I don't want to let everyone know that I'm about to have an accident, but this is what each braking zone feels like on this lap and you do it nine times a lap and around here the brakes just don't have a chance to cool down and that energy has to go somewhere and at that point it literally has a melting point and catches fire and yeah again we just saw that when you see cotton there and yet hanky and dawlin who are not too far from a podium in fourth place , it really is a good illustration and it can be a little awkward what Clutton does here.
I'm trying to think what he would do if he was cutting before there was less than five minutes left. I think I'll sit behind Hanky. and just sits there happy as Larry, there's no way he's wasting a minute while we watch Morgan trying his best to smile, the number one mechanic in Enduro, looking like a bank robber, but they'll be absolutely overwhelmed if they can . Go through this all the way, well it'll be three turns at the end. Yes, there's no need to take the risk of trying to lap that group, but Marcus is one of those drivers who will keep pushing until the end. the race I'm sure and if you feel like you can pass them you can try, yes, five cars on the lead lap at the end of the race, that's quite remarkable and it can even be reduced to three or four by the end if you pass these two, thanks to the 6th place car by the way, WPI Motorsport Phil Keane Michael, going after a couple of incidents early in the race, 6th position again, a good day to score points, not much to write.
At home, but sixth place is worth a good handful of points and they are aiming hard for the championship this season and that's the kind of result they need to get seventh place is the number 15 Ram race car which has also had a day. solid in the middle of the race, that car was as low as 12th for 13th, so good effort here from Lisa Powell and John Ferguson to get into the top 10, as we do what Joe said to get into the final laps. of this fourth round of the smart money british gt championship and there are still a lot of top positions up for grabs, yes definitely, and i think the interesting point is that the enthusiast wpi car you bred there is always like the best of the rest.
They are the first, all for a problem. The rjn car stopped on the right, which is normally not a problem, as in an accident, which is probably a fault of some kind. Oh, that will give Hanky a good chance. Here he made it, so we had a For me, there was a lot going on there when we cut it, it looked like it was probably Dawlin and he tried to lunge at the BMW and then he had to go deeper maybe to not make contact and Hanky caught him now the fight is the other way around, he has to respond with and look who's behind him, he doesn't want anything to happen, he's a fool, so I think it would be interesting to see a replay like I said.
I think the bmw century gt4 was the wrong place, the wrong time for dawlin and hanky to be that second further away. backed off because he was compromised by making the turn early, it was perfect, so from the inside he could see that it would be forced into the grass, so the BMW had already committed to turning, forcing the lag on the grass, losing efficiency on the brakes and Hanky could. just to pass, so it would be interesting for that first position off the podium, yeah, it's a shame isn't it? Because he has driven James Dawlin very well up to that point, the BMW passed by the way, number 90. car jack brown driving second in gt4 his lap times are not very good, he has been in the half minute 39 during the last few laps , but it should really be at 37 low and 36 high and that means it's now just five seconds away. ahead of collard in third but he could be stroking home knowing we only have a couple of laps left yeah it'll be two laps to complete this one and one more there cuz that's where Marcus Clutton comes in on the old uh. out of the old head and I should say by starkey's corner and uh when he gets to the end of this lap there should be less than one lap time left on the clock which means we're looking at 117 laps away yeah and We're back to the mustang gt4 race leader and that was the car that team owner Nicole Jones told me was going to be the winner this weekend so I hope you can welcome that too and we've seen a great run with that car, we have a few other gt4s around it and it really comes out when you see all these guys grouped together in this final release and now it's trying to make sure you get home without having a stupid accent. everyone's getting tired, the cars are worn out, they're not going to be as sharp as they were three hours ago, uh, yeah, absolutely, and this is a throwback, plus a GT3 battle, and GT4 fighters Darren Turner In reality, he has not been able to. he has surpassed matty graham yet and is running out of time to do so, it probably means josh miller, our carracing, it is also free of danger, that is the first of the astons gt4 and there you can see Turner's chances of passing.
Graham was not helped by the fact that Scott Malvin's Parker Porsche team is arriving to give him a try. lap. It has a moment out of the sky and the yellow flag there, Rjm McLaren actually restarted and now stopped on the I came out of that corner, so I didn't make it back onto the field with 30 seconds left. I think we will finish this race under a local yellow flag. I think the car was pretty far off the track, so it could stay. there and it should be absolutely fine, but yeah, this gt4 battery almost looks like it needs another 10-15 minutes to run and let it fight as we get back to that enduro car that Morgan Tilburg started, Marcus Clutton will finish it. and uh yeah, like you said before, I don't think they had a single drama in this race, yeah, and in a race where a lot of other potential race winners had dramas before, uh, this car just lumbered around, ha It's been the fastest car, it hasn't had any problems, it hasn't made any mistakes, it hasn't had any mechanical problems and, just as they did at the end of last year, it looks like motorsport enduro is going to come out on top here at Doddingspark, In fact, the GT4 race also seems to be used by the same team that was here at the end of last year.
Yes, smart club stuff. You can't pass them with yellow flags, even if it's a lapping car. The last thing you wanted was a two-corner penalty. go to overtake the yellows he backed off he has more than a minute in hand he could push the car home from here motorsports enduro will take his second win in the smart money british gt championship and once again he arrives at donington park marcus clutton and morgan tilbrook the dominant victors from donington what a performance and right behind look at that almost as if it were on stage the ford mustang motorsport academy also comes out ahead marcos senoretti takes his first win in the gt matt british race Cowley returns to the top step of the podium again and it's funny if at the start of the weekend you had asked Joe to predict the winners in both classes I would probably choose those two cars simply because they are our most recent Donington winners and have continued his form this season, yeah, it's funny how sometimes the obvious ones are the right ones and I think, again, it all comes down to pure pace and that risk versus reward, when you've got that much pace in your hand you can just relax a little bit .
And you look at it another way, where maybe let's say the wpi card I go at that little pace, so they had to do a balance move that then gives them a 10 second stop and start and that's why they're probably today off the podium, so this is The cars that came in second place, that gap is so big that it gives us the opportunity to do a full race report and they haven't done anything wrong apart from getting stuck in the pits, I think, and losing those 20 seconds, and that really made him nervous. I think so, a great effort from James Cotingham who moved to take the lead at the start, which unfortunately due to safety car timing and a slow pit stop, he didn't make it.
Able to hold on but they come home in second place behind Two Seas Motorsport, third place will go the ram racing route and that will give ian loggie now the championship lead and then just behind him, we have the EU and the handkerchief. car and then james dawlin in the red line racing lamborghini finishing 5th overall and winning the gt3 category silver element so he and alex malik took the class win once again and another solid top five again, a case of what could have been had. I guess they didn't have that success penalty, but it's another good points day for redline racing.
Several teams I think will leave Donington Park very happy with the work they have done, particularly the enduro motorsport team, who will apply for a third participation in the lawyer race I think came to mcallen next year. Isn't that right, definitely ? So obviously you'll see the hand out the window saying thanks to all the Marshall and everything and he's looking to avoid going through the carbon davies to pick up as much gravel and debris and then Actually, it's twofold: one adds a little bit of weight to the car, obviously, by sticking to those hot tires, but the most important thing is the ride height, there is a minimum ride height that cars have to have, so if you put those slightly bigger tires on with everything glued on.
You're more likely to have no problems at scrutineering after the Racing Bridge GT is very well guarded, so there's no way any of these cars will do anything outside of the regulations and that spot will be checked afterwards. of the race, obviously we don't know what it's going to be so sometimes it's quite interesting to see what they review well, that's how the race ended and then with a dominant performance, a landslide victory for enduro motorsport, morgan tilbuck and marcus cook got the race. victory by almost a minute at the end over dos mares, james cottingham and lewis williamson, who obtained their best result of the season so far. ian loggie is now the championship leader and finished third alongside callum mccloud, while mia blew it away and you and hanky took a big win.
A strong fourth place also in the 76 mclaren ahead of the pair of lamborghinis, Malik's redline car and a Doll in fifth place and then the WPI example of Like Ligo and Phil Keane completing the top half dozen, then it was the Ram Racing number. 15 car the balf audi eight ninth place for fox motorsport mclaren and the parker racing team porsche completing the top 10 ahead of the paddock greystone gt team alba racingcentury motorsport and the number 72 car of barwell, all of which had problems during the race now more back in gt4, the victory in the race, as happened at the end of last season, goes to the ford mustang motorsports academy Marco Señoretti and Matt Cowley in car number 61, who claimed victory in the race, were in the fight all day and they were able to reach the top. uh, it helped in part because of a slow New Bridge Motorsport pit stop.
In the end, second in class was Will Burns and Jack Brown, another podium finish. They are slowly but surely racking up points as the season progresses for Century Motorsport. and then tomeka and jordan were third in the toyota uh we have one, two, three, four, five different brands of cars in the top five because then it's an aston martin, jamie day's r race car and josh miller in fifth place before we get our second porsche, which is the mattie gray ross wiley beluga race car, new bridge motorsports seventh in class, but they still win the pro am element of gt4, although that will be little consolation for a team that I was absolutely in contention to win the race this afternoon.
It wasn't because of that fire at the last stop, Richard Williams' Audi and the sedan appeared again, what could have been that spin in the first period for Richard, they were never able to recover from then, it is the BMW of the century ahead of the team shouted mclaren. At that point, Matt Cowley and Marco Señoretti are your GT4 career winners and Breen is up there with at least one of the academy's motorsport drivers, yes, but I'll tell you which one is Matt Cowley, Matt, that was , it seemed to be alone. It was an easy race for you because there was no drama, there was drama everywhere else, yes I had a good race with Darren in the first stint I had but Marco did a lot of hard work to be fair he's not here yet. but i hope he shows up, yeah he did a lot of hard work at the beginning of the race and all that, speaking of which, yeah, he made my life a lot easier, so yeah, that helps a lot, thanks marco, talk about the devil.
It is the first time he has won the British GT. Well done. Thank you. I couldn't find the podium. He's right there. You'll get to that in a minute. But for you it was, uh, we were saying it was pretty simple. There was a lot of drama elsewhere, but for you. Guys it seemed to be pretty clean, yeah it's always tricky with GT3 traffic and just managing the tires and then the second stint was pretty good. I had no track limits to use and a full tank of fuel, so it was pretty tight, but no, that's it.
Incredible, it's a good habit for you too and for your team. Very well done, thank you incredible, excellent material. Yesterday I sat down and talked for a while with those two. They were both looking forward to this weekend's race and the motorsports academy can return home. and get the race win in gt4 and, uh, a fantastic performance. As I said, you could say there was a bit of luck in that New Bridge had a slow stop, but the Ford was in position to have the race lead anyway at the end of The race is a circuit that suits the fourth Mustang and were able to extract maximum pace from that car all day.
Now in GT3 it's a feeling of deja vu again. Last year's winners at the Donington final were on the motorsport jury. and the same is true today, I think it's fair to say that you had it nailed from the beginning, right? Yeah, you know, fair play to James, he managed to pass Morgan in turn one, but Morgan held on and, um, both of them. We had a great race and you know we were very clever under the first safety car where we made our pit stop and you know, rightly so, you saw the organizers bring order back and I had a clear follow through mentality from that point. go as fast as I can while I had the chance from our point of view, it was nice Morgan that you gave us that little bit of excitement from the starting line, yes, yes, a little bit of contact, but you know James' move was Fair enough, he won.
It was fair and equitable and I did a good job of pushing him, you know, I kept up with him, like Mark just said, if they made a donation the championship would go in because the last two races we could have been Donnie so we have to go. for the treble or the trip later this year, um, but yeah, an incredible increase. Mark has done a fantastic job, he has shown that he can compete with the best and the team has given us a race-winning car and it is very fair that the team has given it to us. a podium winning car in the last three rounds but we've messed up two of them so it's nice to give it back to the team that it really is and right now you've got the podium so it's gone, very well done thank you. thank you all, yes, big congratulations on enduro motorsports and we are running out of things to say about them, we really are Joe, because it was a flawless performance and, yes, the car works well on the track, the drivers also know the track, but when you have days like this, it's very important that you don't let it slip, don't do anything stupid that leaves you thinking, what if we saw some of the team's mistakes today, but the enduro just kept his head? come down and never make a mistake, yes it's a huge digital puzzle, a race like this is a piece that falls off, you certainly can't see what the picture is and none of them, the drivers, the engineers, the mechanics, all that team of gel. perfectly this weekend to make it such a dominant performance that all I can go on using is dominant as those rather suspicious looking trophies from the Donington circuit are really nice and we could actually put them on my shelf in the fireplace next year, maybe yes, elegant, elegant. uh, there are no trophies and they will be presented on the podium very soon.
The first group of drivers will have, I think, our top three overall in GT3, so obviously it will be headed by the enduro team, but also. shout out to two seas and ram racing, they did a solid job, on that one too and in fact there's ian logging's ram racing duo, callum mccloud, who finished 3rd overall in gt4 and as i said, now he takes the only one. the ownership of the championship lead, at least the unlocking, does of course mcleod, uh, not having raced with him all season, sadly cannot be the champion this year, lewis williamson and james cottingham could still be those second places, more good points behind 27 points to finish in second place, but it's a race win for Endura Motorsport, there's no doubt about that, it really was in doubt even though they didn't lead until about half an hour into the race. race, from that first pit stop onwards, they never looked back and morgan.
Tilbrook and Marcus Clinton are the overall race winners in GT3. It's really cool that all the drivers get along well with each other. In fact, they are always good at the end of the season. Suddenly the hostility increases a bit, so I think we should probably go back to Later in the year, everyone is just as friendly, smiling and shaking hands with each other Towards the end, when you see the champagne, you can always see who He has been on the podium more times and, unfortunately for Cal Mcloud, he was the last one to arrive. so yeah awesome for the three cars and um yeah I think the bop has been pretty fair today too the layout of the cars and gt4 especially the top five they all come from one manufacturerdifferent and that's how GT4 has been a lot this season and GT3 in the same way, we have a good variety, just a couple of years ago the McLarens won almost all the races.
I know we had a McLaren winning that race, but we had Audi Mercedes and Lamborghini on top. I already got on the podium this season and now McLaren has four different cars to win the first four races. The next podium group we have is the silver ammo category within GT3, which is sometimes a bit forgotten in the fight for the overall. uh class win, but it's the uh greystone gt that pairs the father with a pair of lewis chair supervisors who were third in silver and second place goes to uh the elise of power and john ferguson ram racing mercedes who rent their british debut gt gets a class podium but class winners in a brilliant race overall i think for redline i'm really impressed with them this year james dawlin and alex malik they get on well together and today They get a class victory here, yes.
I think they have a race win this year, I think if they hadn't had the success penalty and a slightly better qualifying then they weren't in that kind of midfield nitty-gritty at the start, and they were Fast at Silverstone too, so that I'm trying to think about the circuit, what we're obviously left with here again, they should be strong, but I have a feeling that Schneiderlin could adapt quite well to that combination of two one-hour sprint races. So you have exactly twice the chance of winning a runner. I remember Barwell did double there. In fact, a few years ago, it's always been a good Lamborghini circuit, the Snatterton 300 layout, and that's where we're heading next on June 25 and 26, uh, for rounds five and six, the second of our double events with two single power races, like Joe said, so yeah, keep an eye on them.
I think it's not a bad shout that they can reach the top step of the general classification. podium before the season ends, moving on to uh gt4 now, which is where we really saw some fantastic battles and it will be a podium for Toyota, which is, I think, their first overall podium of the season so far and Jordan. collard goes up there with tom edgar celebrating third place in gt4 second place will burns who looks ecstatic to be on the podium here at doddington he's already used to being on the podium now if it's not the top step then he won't be so happy at the respect, but here jack brown comes home second in gt4, while academy motorsport takes the victory in the race.
It's their second consecutive win at Donington but the first in the championship for Marco Señoretti and Matt Cowley up there on the top step again, yes it's a good Ford Mustang circuit but they still had to execute well and beat the which, as we said several times during the race, shows a very, very competitive GT4 grid, yes, and that GT4 grid is only getting stronger, so as the season progresses, I think we're going to start to see who needs to start racking up points where and today everyone was pretty forceful but I think that risk will have to start to go down a little bit there but Mustang deserved it as much as anyone else today and again, not making mistakes that is what it takes in these longer races, yeah, they absolutely weren't wrong and ultimately that might be what decided them because we had that issue with a new bridge that put them out of contention for the overall race. victory and off the overall podium, by the way, darren turner only managed 7th place, he didn't pass matty graham there, towards the end of the race, so points are begging there for darren, however, we will see the new bridge team, hopefully, appear on our The next podium because we have the three uh pro-am teams within gt4, the next one is that of um motors, a car that was third in the class, the second was the British team and It was a class win for new bridge motorsports, so those drivers are about to get on the podium and there's Aaron Morgan and Bobby Trundley, the first disabled driver combo to compete in British GT and get on to the pro and the podium, of In fact, they will be second on the podium because the Swan Car engine did not complete enough flaps to be classified as a finalist, but the gt4 pro and the victory goes to New Bridge Motorsport.
Matt Topham and Darren Turner. Today is not a general victory, but some good points in the bag for the general and another professional championship. -I'm a class winner in a championship that looks like they will dominate for the rest of the season and Darren and Matt are in front of the paddock in front of the podium. Sorry and celebrate even more trophies here at Donington Park. Yes, I really like the touch. having everyone on the ground in front of their podium, it's really nice to see that inclusive nature of motorsport there and such a good performance from everyone in gt4 and I think when you look at the highlight now he was a strong star, wasn't that a fantastic fourth round of the smart money british gt championship in which james cottingham's number four mercedes jumped ahead of the motorsport enduro at the start and took the lead in the motorsport and activeto motorsport paddock?
However, for the second time this season, those two cars collided and collided quite spectacularly in the crater corners before Richard Williams lost the GT4 lead for the second consecutive race. In that GT4 battle, he was very, very close, in fact, to number nine. Century mode support BMW received a penalty for that contact with the Toyota while it was an early pit stop in the GT3 ranks for the Ava Racing team's Mercedes, which immediately saw Sam Neary get involved in the fight and here having a view from the grandstand of a contact with Audi Porsche. In the final corner, it was all the Lamborghini incident at the Melbourne hairpin that started the card 72 derailment process, which would end up in the gravel later, plus debris on the track, which triggered a safety car during which almost everyone entered the pits.
It was a slow stop, although by two c they lost the lead and from that moment the enduro motorsport mclaren, who had a good restart, never looked back, marcus club had a brilliant season to build a good margin at the front of the field at the time nearby. there for lewis williamson in traffic while in gt4 we saw a lot of these two cars running side by side, darren turner there around the outside of matt cowley while again the parker porsche team was exchanging pay with other cars there that was the parker team car entering the back of the 76 mclaren, which then also had a close moment with the wpi lamborghini at the melbourne hairpin, the red line racing lamborghini was again entering the audi, the balfour sport here had no the ultimate pace today and they would.
Fighting to 8th place, the second round of pit stops took place in some close times at the chicane, there was some really brilliant close racing in both classes and I told you these two cars were together for most of the race , this time the academy continues. of the new jason martin they swapped the lead on multiple occasions contact between team parker and barwell and then between team parker and Valve Motorsport's audi there weren't many cars that team parker didn't tangled with during the race, but somehow the car held up The academy was going strong to finish in the top 10 and we were ready to make its final pit stop.
Marco Señoretti handed over to Matt Cowley and as we went into that final round of pit stops it looked like things were calming down until this happened, contact for Sandy Mitchell just as she came out of pit lane fighting for position uh with the car from the parker team put the lamborghini in the gravel and out of the points a slow pit stop for a new bridge that car had a big fire which is ultimately what cost them the opportunity to fight for the victory in gt4, which still saw a good fight for the podium places and jordan collard was the one who took the toyota to the podium late because of a mistake here for james james dawlin cost you and hanky fourth place in the race the 76 team got the best finish of the season, but It was enduro motorsport that continued its dominance at Donnington to win by almost a minute at the end of the three-hour race, while academy motorsport took a slightly less comfortable victory in gt4 i.
