Ladybug

May 10, 2020
Hello guys, welcome back to my channel. I wanted to bring you something to do during this scary time we're all going through, so I'll try to brighten your days. I'll try to distract them. Anyway, I'm not going to sit here and make everyone scared or depressed or something like that. I'm here to paint with you, so let's make a

ladybug

and it's going to be shiny and it's going to be shiny. This stone of mine is about four and a half inches and pick a couple shades of red and take your black paint of course we're going to add a little bit of glitter and gold but yeah this is going to be fun guys I'm here to help you guys There's no way I want to panic or go on the internet and see nothing but panic, so for me this will be therapeutic in a lot of ways, so my kids are downstairs watching Netflix.
ladybug
I'm up here hoping my cats don't disturb this tutorial. too much so that we can enjoy this beautiful moment of painting together, so basically I am making the front of my

ladybug

all in black so you can see that no matter what color your stone is, you can paint your entire stone black if you want . But I'm just painting the top cover here black because I'm going to keep the rest of it nice. You'll see what I do with the rest. I don't really need to paint the rest. black, but we will be using a lot of red, so first this may not make sense, but we are going to make a small jewel on the body of our ladybug, so if you have already seen my gemstones in my tutorial, then I am familiar with how to make one gem, it's even very similar to my jelly fly, the body of my jelly flies.

More Interesting Facts About,

ladybug...

I have done it several times, sometimes it is even like making a drop of water, it is something similar. shade it a certain way, so I'm going to do that. I probably should have applied a white base coat under this gem, but I'm doing a couple coats of this and then I'm going to blend it out, so I'm going to use Sponges, you've seen them before. Martha Stewart sponges, they are listed in the description of this video for you because I love you. You know I was going to sing for you, maybe I should sing and paint, but yeah.
ladybug
I'd probably lose some subscribers, so I'm just going to narrate and occasionally I might sing a little with my voice. I love to sing, what else do you do that is artistic? Are you pianists? Are you dancers? Do you sing? I've been singing all my life self-taught, of course, I don't have lessons like everything I do and I learned to play guitar on my own. I started using a tiny keyboard, never had anything very big, but yeah, self-taught in everything I do. I just wanted to make music, I just wanted to sing and that got me through a lot of tough times so I feel lucky that not only can I pick up my guitar but my son can play the piano next to me and I can paint and that's it .

These different things I can use over the next few weeks to get some therapeutic sessions I guess. So I'm doing this. You don't have to do this to your ladybug's body, but when you visit Rachel's Rocks Canada we do different things. A little fancy here, so of course there will be jewels, there will be glitter, there will be gold and it will look absolutely stunning when it's done, so that's one thing I can promise you guys, I'm not going to make a silly drum roll for this one, but I might do some boos and ahhs if you've seen my shiny beetles or I call them shiny bugs or beetles, those have been very popular lately a lot of you want some little bugs in your lives, fancy little beetles, so this one is like a large version.
It's just a little different, it's more of a ladybug, but it has a jewel on its body and it will still have some red wings and it will be beautiful, so yeah, we'll get into it, oh, real quick, well, not too quick, no wanna. speed this up too much so you guys can't see what I'm doing, so I know it's weird, I know it's really weird that I just made that whole body and I'm painting right on top of it, but I really need to see that gem there first like a whole before adding my wings because it's just not a part that blends together and makes it look like a jewel under those wings.
I find it easier to make the entire jewelry first and then work on the wings. Other than that, but that's optional, I just wanted to show you what I'm doing. You can take different steps. You can take shortcuts. That's the fun of it. You're just seeing what I've done. You can do it all if You won't, so I'm going to put a couple of layers on. At first I used a brush, but I'm going to use a sponge to put on a couple of layers. Look, let's put a little shine on that jewel. Look, you see that magic.
It will look great later, but I'm using a sponge now anyway because sponges tend to cover a little better. I don't know if you're familiar with makeup. I don't. I was thinking about starting a channel where I teach. Myself how to do my makeup as an artist I should know how to do my makeup but I don't. I am terrible with my terrible face. I'd just rather not wear anything at all and wear sunglasses and a hoodie. I can not see me. For me, so yeah, if you're familiar with blending on your face with blending sponges or brushes, this is very similar, it makes it cover a little bit better, it covers it really well, it's got a nice texture, it's all smooth and soft .
It's kind of like an airbrush so there you go that's why I use sponges so I've applied a couple of coats of dark red which is like a dark berry wine of folk art paints which will be listed in the description and now I'm adding a lighter red. which is more like an apple red and I'm blending it but not all the way to the edges. I want to keep the edges of my area dark. I want to see that berry wine, but I'm going in almost to the edge with this apple color I'm just lightening and giving some depth to these beautiful wings.
Well now I know that you can probably see a ridge where my jewel is under my wing and that's fine, once I resin this, there will be no ridge there so you won't have to worry about it or at least I hope we'll see, ya we'll see so I'll keep the dark berry wine on all the outside parts of each wing separately and lighten the inside a little bit is just to create some depth like I said you don't know how you can paint it pure red and leave it like that and say Rachael , why do you bother to follow all these steps or can you do it?
What I'm doing and see if you like it a little more, try, decide, it's all about what you want on your rock and you don't have to use a rock, you can paint this on a canvas, just make the shape that I If you have here Iraq and you look at it like you're looking at a canvas, you definitely just need to be creative during this time and use what you have if you have a potato that doesn't look so good that you don't want to feed it. Paint it to your family, paint it guys, why don't you?
If you are running out of stones or just not sure what to paint. I tell them that painting is very therapeutic. No, I'm not trying to touch. my own horn, but honestly I've been through a lot of stressful times over the last few years, yes even losing a baby, so it's gotten me through a lot of tough times, so I hope I can give something back. Guys, you know some comic relief, of course, I'm here all week and some artistic inspiration. Take some time to sit down with the kids and paint something pretty. I have many tutorials so you know that it will be something that you will have.
I've given you a lot of options, there you have it, there are some hard things and some easy things, challenge yourself, challenge your friends, they don't get together but you know, chat with each other on the phone while painting, watch my tutorial, have some wine, have your children paint. I find it very therapeutic and there's nothing wrong with it, there's just nothing wrong with creating something artistic, so what I've done here is I've left the natural stone for the back of my bug. and I put a couple of gold stripes. I also outlined my red wings in black.
I made sure there was a big thick black line there to separate the wings from the jewel that I am. I underlined my gold stripes on the end of my mistake with the black as well just to define them there, but when I resin this, the rock will become very, very dark, so it will look practically black there, but you will see at the end that you can look at something of the grain in the stone I'm also lining my top here separating my wings from the head in gold you know me and I'm sending it cleaning it making sure it's not too thick we're going to put a little gold along the wings, for of course, but make sure to keep the black line visible, just make a thin gold line on the edge of the wing because my insects are always elegant, whether it's a moth, butterfly, ladybug or beetle.
To be elegant they just have to be elegant. I can't help it. A lot of people don't like bugs, but if you make them fancy, they are beautiful, they look like little brooches that you can pin to your sweater, but it's very heavy, this one is very heavy, it's big, I don't recommend buying it as a sweater. I'm going to put some things in my store too, you guys want to take a look at some of my things that I've been to. working to give me some therapeutic moments, especially since last week my son was home sick with a horrible fever and a horrible cough, he was out all week.
I wasn't going to send him to school, there was no way, then he went back to school for a week and now he's gone for three oh, what a joy, honey, by the time he goes back to school I won't have to keep dressing them in a snowsuit. Let's look at the bright side of things, guys, maybe I can put away the snowsuit. So now that my red paint is dry and I've outlined everything in gold where I want to do it, I'm adding a little bit of nail glitter, a little bit of chrome nail powder, it's in red.
I will list where I bought mine on Amazon sir I hope. Paint doesn't go out of style like toilet paper, guys, please, Lord, let there be paint. I will list all of these nail glitters. There are like seven different shades that come in the package and I've had mine for years so I'll be the last one forever. I put a clear coat over the glitter to hold it in place, but now I'm going to add a little bit of glitter, I guess, to the bottom of the jewelry to make it look like there's something holding the jewelry. the body of the ladybug you can do whatever you want here I'm just doing some gold dots and then I'm going to put, you see, I'm going to put black dots on top of those once they're a little bit dry now here's the polish I was talking about and I'm going to put on top of the wings to hold that thin, thin, thin red glitter, it's almost like an eye shadow, it's just a very pigmented powder, it's a powder that people use on their nails. for a nail salon and it gives a chrome look to your nails, but this just gives a really cool effect.
I don't even know how to explain it, but if you've used it, explain what it looks like in the comments for people who haven't tried it yet, it just gives you a completely different ceiling, gives you a completely different level of WoW, there you go, a completely different level of WoW, now I'm going to add some white patches. our our ladybug. I Googled ladybugs and looked at their faces. I'm going to try to make something simple that looks like ladybug faces, but remember this is not a realistic ladybug, if you ever see one like this, land. on your arm while you're out eating watermelon please take a picture and send it to me because I'm pretty sure I can get them for copyright infringement yeah I think but we'll see if you find one please send it just pictures.
No don't hurt don't mail it to me just pics if you see a ladybug that looks like this this is a fantasy bug rachels rocks fantasy bugs the things that come from my mind so yeah , I do not do it. I don't even know where the eyes are. I don't know if it's the nostrils. I'm just looking at pictures of some ladybugs and doing my best with something simple for you guys to follow, so yeah, I'm going to describe all of these little ones too. white patches with gold and I'm going to apply a couple coats of white because I can see through it once it dries so you may need to apply a couple coats and a couple coats of white too, just a small touch of white. it doesn't cover the black as well as you would like and there's my gold outline always with the gold screams made a little mess, it's good because I made a little mess on the wing and it cleaned up right away because of the polish I put on Thank God the polish was dry, we'll add black dots to our wings later too, so thanks for subscribing.
Look, I said I wouldn't sing. I could sing a little. I have almost 48 thousand subscribers and I'm dying. I'm thrilled to have you as part of my rock family and I just wanted to tell you that if you haven't hit the subscribe button, please do so so you don't miss anything. I'm going to try to post some fun stuff. the next few weeks for all the families that are home with kids or just not home with any kids and are really bored so I want to try to get some fun stuff, give me your suggestions. writing them all, I promise you that I am writing them, I am going to be flamenco, there are some of you who have been asking me for flamenco, so I promise you that I am working on a flamenco, I promise.
I'm using sponges once again, these Martha Stewart sponges. They really come in handy.Helpful if you're making ladybugs because I'm using all the different sizes of these sponges to make pretty circles on the wings. It's perfect, I just make sure to try to place them in the same places on each wing, it's super easy. Don't put too much paint on your sponge when you do this or else it will just flood over the sides and bleed and no longer look like a circle, so be careful how much you apply. Leave it on your paint tray before transferring it here oh my gosh guys this is my favorite part mmm look at that what do you think of that if you saw that in a garden somewhere you'd probably steal it?
Don't lie, don't lie, I love you guys, hit the subscribe button, paint with me for the next few weeks. I promise I'll try not to take them too far before posting another one. I love you, you know? Thank you, let's all stick together and get through this together guys, I love you.
