Stalker is one of those franchises that occasionally remains in the back of my mind after months or years of absence. Never a bestseller and not as big as other nuclear disaster-based games like Fallout or Metro, but it was extraordinarily unique, the three-game series from Ukrainian developer gsc gameworld spanned its consecutive releases from 2007 to 2009 before disappear completely until recently, when stalker 2 was announced. I mentioned its surface-level bleakness before, but there's a reason for Stalker to be categorized as a horror game and it becomes overwhelmingly clear when you start heading out into the world - of course, there are enemies and various dangers in the environment, which you'll encounter. I didn't find out about the master difficulty until I finished recording, I imagine it would have saved me some headaches in the future, but it's all good, this brings us to the quality of life and debugging mods that are available for the game if you look for them.
