iPhone 11 Pro Review: For the Love of Cameras!

May 31, 2020
Welcome to the iPhone 11 Pro

review

from the beginning. I don't really agree with the names. I don't think there's enough pro in these phones to justify putting pro in the name, but not the names. It really matters, what does matter is that these are the high-end phones that Apple makes right now in 2019. The truth is, these are mostly pretty familiar phones from last year, which were also pretty familiar from the year before, but you already knew that the new thing is from Apple. I really focused on four main things for this new iPhone, so the design barely, the new screen slightly improved battery life and these new

cameras

, so the design grows.

I'm not going to lie to you, we saw those renders and the models and no one thought they were pretty. including me, but as always, holding them in your hand and looking at them in person is something different and doesn't look horrible. I

love

the new matte finish. I think that helps a lot with the look and feel, even if it is technically a little more slippery than the shiny one. I'll choose a matte option on any phone whenever the camera square is the weird looking part. I'm happy that we got memes out of it, uh, and it's funny, for some reason, you see the camera square. it's indented even though it sticks out, it's all cut from a single piece of glass and it's like this weird optical illusion I guess, but this is the design that Apple designed for the iPhone 11 pro.

More Interesting Facts About,

iphone 11 pro review for the love of cameras...

The camera is bumped into a square camera and yes, it wobbles slightly when placed on a table, Apple says this is the toughest glass on any smartphone. I'm not going to try it, but let's be real. Glass is glass, so you should definitely protect it or at least try to keep it from falling. It will probably still break, but the good news is that it doesn't seem to scratch as much as the matte black glass on the Pixel 3 that this reminded me of, so the matte finish and camera design are the only really new things here with the design. , if it comes.

Basically, if you don't want to have to think about it anymore or just want to avoid any chance of fingerprints or scratches, you can contact our channel sponsor, dbrand, and this matte black robot skin is actually a limited edition. link below if you want to check it out, but on the front of the phone it will look almost exactly the same as last year, same screen sizes and resolutions, same notch, same bezels, you could literally put it next to the phone of the year past. and you may find it difficult to know which is which. This is the new one here, so this is what's really different.

Apple said they have improved Face ID to be up to 30 times faster in the same space and work at a wider variety of angles. I can guarantee a little bit faster and you'll only notice this if they're next to the old phone, but you know, I'll take that upgrade anyway because it's for security and that's better than nothing more than the variety of angles thing I don't know about you , but when I read that I was hoping that meant it could sit at a table across from you and still read and unlock your face like it couldn't before, but it still doesn't do that.
Unfortunately you still have to do that, lean over whatever surface the phone is on to unlock it, so I've honestly noticed that there's no improvement here on the angles, it's basically the same apart from the buttons being slightly lower on each phone. I don't know if anyone else has proven this, but it's true. I guess maybe it's a little easier to reach and they've also improved the water resistance a little, still ip68 certified and this phone is a little thicker and heavier. I didn't really notice the thickness, but I did notice the weight, especially on the Pro Max.
This big phone is 20 grams heavier than last year and I noticed it's a little bigger, but you know, that's perfectly fine because the battery life has once again been excellent on this phone. As it turns out, this is also achieved by getting rid of 3D Touch, so the Rip Apple Watch is really the only new Apple product that now includes 3D Touch, but by getting rid of that pressure-sensitive screen hardware that allows more real estate on the phone for a bigger battery, it's true, teardowns have shown that the battery is bigger, that's why the battery difference from 10r to 11 was one hour, that's only 13 bionic improvements, but the improvement from 10s to 11 pro was four hours because getting rid of that 3D touch hardware has made room for larger batteries.
I don't know if I can measure that four to five hour claim, but in my experience, battery life has been excellent. I show you my use of super high-end, high-gloss. on all the time, I get about seven to eight hours of screen on time and a full day of battery almost every day on this phone, so that's really impressive. You can probably turn it off in a day, but you might have to try now. Going back to that screen for a second, I mentioned that they got rid of 3D touch, this has been mostly replaced by haptic touch, which are essentially long presses that bring back almost all the functionality of the 3D touch, it's not as good as the peak were. and the pop, but Anyway, I hardly use it and there is also something new on the screen, specifically that it can maintain a higher brightness of 800 nits and in small spots, for brief moments, it can reach a maximum of 1200 nits, which which is amazing on a smartphone screen and it's also up to a contrast ratio of 2 million to 1, so of course they had to name it, they called it super retina xdr display.
The name is quite boring, but the screen is again impressive indoors and outdoors. Now, could you tell the difference next to a 10s watching a YouTube video or playing a game or even scrolling through Instagram probably not, but there are certain times when you watch a movie or something in HDR where you can notice that the brightness improved and It looks great and the sound is pretty good too thanks to the upgraded speakers. Although there is still a notch, you know, the iPhone's taller screen has always been pretty good and this one is no exception, it's better again, but I can't help but think what customers would have noticed more: a slightly improved brightness or a reduction significant of the notch.
I know it's something we'll talk about later, for now what you need to know is that the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max have even better high-resolution OLED displays and they're also a little more efficient and contribute to even more battery gain, so what that's worth, and the specs almost don't matter in an iPhone

review

, but since people are always curious, it's this year's new a13 bionic chip, which is excellent and four gigs of RAM in these pro phones, according to geekbench it's still extremely fast as any new phone should be, most of these improvements over the a12 will only help keep them faster for longer and as said will be appreciated closer to the end of life useful of the phone that at first, okay, I almost can.
I don't think I made them wait that long for the

cameras

, so clearly the cameras are. If you've seen any of the ads or any of the teaser videos, these cameras are the main focus for the iPhone 11 pro. Yes, that's a play on words. I've seen it, now we're looking at triple cameras, three new sensors, so you've got the 12-megapixel main sensor, a 2x telephoto camera and a 0.5x ultra-wide camera with about a 120-degree field of view and It's true that the iPhone 11's cameras are a big improvement. Above 10 seconds in broad daylight, I'd go so far as to say that this has been a beneficial camera and often takes the sharpest, cleanest photos I've seen taken on a smartphone.
The colors are great, they are realistic, so the dynamic range not too processed is Excellent and of course with subjects, its tone mapping is next level, it is really good, which helps of course in shooting scenarios. more difficult shooting, where it has improved a lot compared to the 10, so I think the typical iPhone 11 Pro photo is the closest to what the human eye sees. of any smartphone camera and I'm including the pixel where it tends to have a little more contrast, a little more dramatic, but then of course the ultra wide angle camera, I've finally been waiting for this, I've been waiting for see what iPhone the ultra wide camera would look like lg did it samsung did it motorola did it asus did it oneplus did it huawei did it everyone had already done it ultra wide we just wanted to see basically what google and apple would do with their new cameras so finally we have an ultra wide iPhone and it's okay, it's pretty good, it's actually a lot of fun, the main advantage must be the consistency with the other lenses and the white balance in terms of color, it is very consistent but in quality and detail thanks to the smaller sensor and slower glass.
It's still noticeably a step down, it's smoother, there's a bit more noise reduction, which smooths out the ultra-wide camera more, so overall it's not as good quality as the main camera, which is wait, but that doesn't stop it from being incredible. You get these fun new perspectives and all the wonders that come with an ultra-wide camera. The new user interface also in the iPhone camera app has been improved for the first time in a long time. You know, they've simplified some controls and taken them to the end, where you can. reach with one hand and now when you open it you get a preview of what will appear in the ultrawide if you switch to it, but I really don't want that there.
I think it's great that it shows what you could. Look, but when I just want to take a normal photo, it's a bit distracting, it lags a bit behind the actual frame and it's not perfectly aligned all the time, so I want to turn it off, but I can't, it will automatically fade out when it detects that you are taking a photo of a close-up subject as I assume it recognizes it's ultra smart or more for landscapes or distant subjects and then it will automatically come back when you zoom out on that close subject, but yeah I want to be able to turn it off completely, now there's finally also a Dedicated night mode that turns on automatically when it thinks it's dark enough, but sometimes it's a little dark and doesn't turn on when you want it to, but there's no way to do it manually. turn on night mode which isn't very professional but its ok, when you turn it on the user interface is great it gives you exposure equivalence so you can go up or down live and it will last much longer if it detects you are in a tripod or stabilized and you can see the image light up as it is taken almost as if it is exposing the frame in real time which is pretty sick and the shots you can take now at night and in low light on the iPhone are very good, There is no clear overall winner, I think for the best night mode right now, IMO they do it a different way too.
Here is my night mode shot. It's good enough that I wish I could activate it more often. I think the natural and curious comparison here is. with the Pixel night view, the pixel definitely tends to brighten the photos more and, uh, enhance the shadows, enhance the highlights, you can, it's more like a night to day transformation, kind of a situation that happens there with the pixel, where the iPhone is a little more faithful. life and then it also takes what I think are the most detailed and sharpest low light photos of any smartphone, even more so than the Pixel, but in low light it just doesn't turn on much and there is no night mode on the ultra wide camera, so it really is a great start, but there's no doubt it can improve over time.
I think it will be a very good blind camera test for smartphones if we like a separate stand specifically for phones that now have a dedicated night mode, which is a lot of them I think could be really good, but overall I'm very happy to Let there be this new focus on smartphone cameras. I feel like in the last year of smartphone launches more time has been spent on the camera than any other feature and we are all fighting against each other to try to make the best possible camera to put in our pockets and we win from that.
The iPhone 11 Pro still makes the best video of any smartphone, that's still pretty clear to me and they're doing it too. It's now easier in the UI to quickly start taking a video, so if you see something you like, you open the camera and just hold the shutter button and it starts recording, like on Instagram or Snapchat and if you want to lock it . in video recording you just drag it to the right and it's hands free, you're taking a video, but yeah, on the photo front, the competition is pretty stiff and it's coming from all different directions, we're about to get the pixel 4, just if the new huawei mate 30 pro comes out, oneplus 7t is just around the corner, you can count on that and then I just want to touch iOS 13 for a second, so I've beenusing in beta on my iPhone 10s max before. this came out so I've already used the things you get here again like dark mode and long presses and quick settings and things like that.
It's great, lots of little tweaks here and there, but I have to say it's had some bugs. I've had some strange issues with the lock screen controls just not showing up, sometimes the camera app just freezes completely until I close it, and then I've had other strange issues with apps like the Tesla app and the Instagram, but now those are fixed, so yeah, I should definitely mention that hopefully iOS 13.1 and future software updates will fix a lot of these things, otherwise it's iOS as you would expect, also for those wondering about the u1 chip in these new phones, which again should basically give them ultra wideband signal for reference location of other u1 enabled devices and should improve airdrop which is not enabled in this version of the software, I think it will also come in 13.1 um other than that, we don't really know what else it does, but overall the iPhone software experience is pretty much unchanged, same UI, same feature set, you know what it is, nothing is dramatically or drastically different here beyond, I think, night mode, so I'm not too surprised, look, look.
You probably don't need an iPhone 11 Pro, but it's a big upgrade, especially when many of these improvements, while small, concern basic functional things for regular people, like speeding up battery and camera life, as if you were asking . What normal people care about most in their phone are those things, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, a lot of the features I expected, especially when we heard it was going to be a pro. The phones just aren't here and that has me excited too soon for this 2020 iPhone or iPhone 12 or whatever they call it and actually a new design that reduces the notch, maybe USB Type C of course a motion screen pro high refresh rate that would have been super pro uh putting Touch ID back under the screen glass reverse wireless charging any of these things on this phone would have felt a little more pro and maybe made it worth it the name or it would have just felt really cool to have it, but of course, none of that happened, so really the focus for this new iPhone 11 Pro has narrowed down to the A13, the battery life, the slightly improved screen and just these new cameras, what you want, you have it if you are someone who wants the best. possible camera on your phone or if you create a lot of videos or if you are a professional content creator on your phone then you will be very happy with this phone with the new classic iPhone or even the new iPhone 11. non-professional which is 300 cheaper and it has the same cameras, the same processing and excellent battery life minus the telephoto lens, but again that much cheaper price will have its own review, but I will say that overall the iPhone 11 pro is a really great phone and unless If you have the 10, it's probably worth upgrading just for the

love

of the cameras, but really the big looming reason for someone like me not to buy this phone is the 2020 iPhone or the next iPhone, so that's something to think about, but We'll be ready for that as I'm expecting a lot more, but this package they sent today is pretty good either way, that was it, thanks for watching, I'll catch you guys next one, peace.
