How To Thread the Brother 1034d 4 Thread Serger

May 01, 2020
Perley, hello everyone and welcome back to Burly Soul. I'm your purified host and today we're going to learn how to

thread

the Brother 1034 D overlocker. Today we'll be using

thread

spools instead of thread cones so you'll want to make sure to remove the cone adapters from the back and then grab the spool covers. to place them. Next you will want to slide the access panel to gain access and this machine needs to be threaded in a certain order so here is the order you will want to start with one which is the top looper then the bottom looper and then three with the inner right needle and four with the outer left needle.

Now let's take a closer look as we thread each part starting with number one, the top looper. You can see that I have the thread spool on with the thread cover on and the four parts that you are going to thread will have the same four initial steps that you are going to follow. Take the line off the spool and run it through the tree guide, make sure the trees are raised all the way up, and then get ready to put it through the next line guide, which is number two here, and then the next step you go to.

What you want to do is press the tension release wheel so the thread can fall through it, so as you pull the thread down to number four and five, here you want to make sure you press the tension release button . right there to disengage the tension discs so the thread sits properly and then we can move on to number five and then I'll give you a closer look here in step six and this is the path it's going to go down and you can look at your machine that everything is color coded, so we're going to go down to five and now it tells us to go to six.

You are not going to capture both, you are only going to capture the one with the green dot. at the top and you can see here that you just clip it right below that red end and we'll give you another angle so you can see that it has the green dot, which is the only one you want to be under, so the next part, make sure Be on the right side of the guide for the bottom looper as you go to reach step number seven and this is where you're going to get out your trusty tweezers that came with the machine because you're going to have to go down here and we're going to have to make a little hole. very small and I'll give you a close up right here so that the tweezers are the easiest to use now that we have our tweezers. and our thread, I recommend cutting the end of the thread so that you have a nice clean cut.

You can even wet it a little if you want a little. You know, old thread gets licked and you should have a lot of trouble getting it. Through the upper looper I like to remove the foot. I haven't removed it yet, so if you want to remove the foot, it's a little easier to take the thread and run it under the presser foot in the direction you want. and you can even worry about it now or you can worry about it later once you have all the thread, so now let's jump to step two, which is threading the bottom looper and you'll follow the first four steps. to thread this piece, so put the thread on, put the thread cap on if that's what you're doing and then we'll look at it from the front here in a second, but you can see I got it through the guide as well and then make sure of releasing the tension as you go down to go to number four and number five and you can see that hook there for number five and then this part is where you want to catch both blue dots. so make sure you're under both of them and then you're going to press guide number eight and then number nine is this slide.
Now each one has mine slid in and out, just take that white handle, slide it to your right. You'll see that the arrows aren't lining up at this point because I already took it out and you're going to take your thread and you're going to catch it by the little clasp at the end, you can see how I do it. We've got that there, it's just a little channel that it goes through and now we're going to push the guide in and that keeps it in place so it doesn't get in the way while you're sewing and now we're going to thread the bottom looper, as you can see there personally, I think The bottom looper is the most difficult of the four things you need to thread.
You can see I'm struggling here. I should probably cut the end of the rope and give it the lick I was talking about before, sorry for focusing there, but my hand was in the way, but you'll understand, just stay like that, so now that we've got it threaded, let's go ahead and let's thread the right needle or the inner needle and We will do it by following the same four initial steps that you did earlier with the upper and lower looper once again. Don't forget to release the tension dials and this is pretty much like threading a real sewing machine if I have a Brother sewing machine it follows the channels here so we're going to go down and then we're going to go up by five and we're going to go down and grab the guide that's next to the needle and then we're going to thread it, so we're going to go ahead and show you here you can see I've put it through Step Five and now I've caught that little finger there for the thread and we're going to get out our trusty tweezers and You'll be able to see the hole right there on the right needle and just guide the thread through and it should be.
I think it's like I said, it's probably a little bit easier then the bottom looper isn't as easy as the top looper, keep our threads straight. here and four is basically the same thing, so we're going to put in our thread and our cover and then we're going to follow steps one through four like we did before, going down that guide, we're going to go down through the tension discs and then we're going to go up. and around number five like we did earlier by threading the right needle and then you want to make sure you catch the guide right here where you can see the right needle thread going through and once you have it behind you you can see the left needle there and notice that the left needle is a little bit higher than the right needle and it should be and we'll just insert our thread right there and we'll be ready to go here in a second, so what do you want?
What you need to do now, if you haven't done it throughout the entire process, is make sure all the thread comes out of the back left side of the machine and then you can start stringing it together by hand. I like to spin the wheel once or twice. hand just to start the chain and then you can go ahead and turn on the machine and start chaining with the pedal you're not pulling here you're just guiding by keeping the thread taut so you can form the chain. and now we'll turn on the machine and that's basically it now that you've threaded the overlocker Brother 10:34 D.
I'd like to make one last note depending on what type of stitch you're doing, if you're doing let's say a narrow rolled edge and you're just using the right inside needle, you would just thread the right needle and not insert the left one, but I will have other videos on the different types of stitches coming soon, so be sure to check back. the channel that's all for the video friends I hope I helped you if you liked the video please subscribe share it with your friends give it a like see you next week thanks for watching everyone this is pure and you have Been watching Burley. so
