carpets

are a little dirty. We have some dirt in the seams of the seats. The center console is a little dirty, we have dust everywhere and our steering wheel is dirty either from moisturizer or makeup or whatever you put on here, so this is the typical dirt that you guys would probably find in your car, so that between a typical daily driver and a totaled car we have the perfect examples to show you how to super clean your car and leave it looking great, so in this video the first thing we will focus on is cleaning these dirty carpets, then we will clean the floor. floor mats and then we will clean the trunk and finally we will clean the

headliner

which is very delicate and we have some amazing tips for that so let's get started, first we need to prepare the car for cleaning by rolling down the windows like that.
how to super clean the interior of your car carpets headliner
We don't have to worry about oily cleaners or interior protectors getting on them, which makes them difficult to clean. Then you want to open the trunk of each of these cars and finally unscrew and disconnect the negative battery cable and we want to disconnect that. the negative terminal for two reasons: one, we are going to have the doors open which will kill the battery over time, we will be cleaning the inside of the car, it could take a couple of hours and the dome lights will be on, other lights could be on. In and two, we are going to remove our seats to give us more space, so some seats today have airbags.
how to super clean the interior of your car carpets headliner
Every time you disconnect something with an air pocket, you want to disconnect the battery for 20 minutes. 20 minutes later, we can safely remove it. the seats so slide it forward and we need to remove the two screws in the front so that's one and that's two. Now push the seat forward and we have two more screws back here that we need to remove. The next thing you want to do is tilt the back of the seat. to give you access to the wires you need to disconnect and in this car we have a harness right here we need to disconnect it well now we can carefully remove our seat and you want to make sure you don't hit any of the metal parts. of the seat against the interior or the door panel which could easily scratch it and with the driver's seat out now we can do the same and carefully remove the passenger seat and finally we can remove the rear seat by pressing the two levers under each . side of the seat and then the bottom of the seat comes out like this and with the seats removed I think you have a good idea why we took the extra time to remove the seats look at all this trash and dirt that is under the seats this is It must be removed and we also have to clean down here because this is what retains the odors.
If your car has any odor, you can probably clean the carpet up there and the carpet in the back, but not under the seat. clean it and that is very important, also we want to be able to get to the center console, on the sides right here where the seat would be, we want to clean it, you can see that there is glass and things back there that we want to clean. Basically we need the interior to be super clean so we can do that, we need to remove the seats which means we also want to remove the seats from our wrecked car so with the seats removed the last thing we need What I do in step of preparation is to clean all the garbage from the inside of the interior, this means removing the garbage and loose papers from the floor and I will do the same with my sister's car and it already looks better and it is the last place to Clean the trunk is good and It's not that bad on my sister's car, but we still want to remove everything so we can clean it properly.
Look at all this junk we removed and I also found a winning lottery ticket, so today is my lucky day. It is important that you remove all the trash from your car because you cannot clean around this. This is half the battle to get all this stuff out. So if we look here, my sister's car also had some junk in it, but not as much. With all this junk removed we can now move on to the next step of cleaning the car, so to clean the carpets we need four basic things: some microfiber towels, a good vacuum cleaner, a stiff bristle brush and a carpet cleaner, that's all , now I have some.
Other products that I am going to show you, like this vaporizer, this incredible vacuum cleaner that injects water and cleaner into the carpets and sucks it up, and this brush, here I will show you those that you don't need, but they help you achieve it. very clean so let's start first if you have mats you want to remove them and I like to fold the edges that way the dirt doesn't fall back onto the mats when you remove them and if you take a look the mats do. It's a pretty good job of keeping the carpets clean underneath, so once the mats are removed, there are four quick steps to cleaning the carpets: First, we will vacuum the dirt from the carpet, second, we will spot clean, third, we will wash the carpet with shampoo. carpet and room, we're going to protect the carpet, so one of the most important pieces of equipment we're going to use is a vacuum cleaner like this one.
This is a shopvac. I've been using this forever. It's five horsepower so tons of power to suck up all the dirt, it's also a wet and dry shop vac so it could suck up water if needed and again it's all about the power that you're going to be able to use. remove all the dirt with this, so I suggest you get something like this to help you vacuum your car, so as you would expect, start by vacuuming all the dirt and debris from the surface of the carpet. Usually these will be larger chunks of dirt and will be fairly easy to remove, now there will still be deeper dirt in the carpet so to remove it take a brush and use the brush to agitate the carpet and loosen the dirt that is trapped deep in the fibers.
You can see the dirt and dust that was deeply embedded in the carpet coming to the surface. and then you have to vacuum right here to vacuum it up, so using a brush is a big help to loosen the dirt and make it easier to vacuum the carpet. You can see the before and after here, which isn't bad. You're going to want to brush and vacuum the rest of your car's carpet, so go from this to this and this to this and see what a little brushing and vacuuming does. Is incredible. Look how good they both look.
The sides look much better than before so now we go to the next step and that is the local treatment step, so anything that you can't remove from the carpets, any stains, any candy like this melted chocolate that melts into the carpet. and it doesn't come off easily and then if we come here, you can see there's gum stuck to the carpet and this is right there so you don't want to just rip it off and damage the carpet so I'm going. To show you two different techniques you could use to clean stains, the first is the hot soapy water technique.
You get a squirt of dish soap, you put it in here and you fill it all the way up with hot water and you just use the hot water from As you can see, the faucet reaches about 120 degrees Fahrenheit, which is pretty hot. It is very easy to find at home. Most people have access to products like this soapy water and a toothbrush, so let me show you how to clean it. What you're going to want to do is remove as many large pieces as possible, so remove all of this, then you're going to saturate the area with a little bit of warm soapy water and then you're going to take a brush and use it to agitate the chocolate chunks, the water hot melts the chocolate, so it's nice and easy to remove from the carpet fibers and finally, let's wipe the stain with a towel and blot the water off the carpet like this, and that's not bad for a little bit of soap warm. water and a toothbrush, but there is another method and that is to use a steam cleaner like this one, so instead of using warm soapy water, which is like 120 degrees, the steam is about 212 degrees Fahrenheit, so it doesn't If you need soap, simply add running water to the Steam Cleaner and screw on the top, then all you need to do is plug it in and after about a minute you are ready with some very hot steam.
Let me show you how this works on that gum, so let the vaporizer do all the work. We use the pressure and heat of the steam to force the gum out of the fibers and then we want to remove as much of the gum as we can without tearing the fibers out of the carpet. Now let's come back here with the steam and let's loosen up. I pick up the rest of the gum and am using a brush to deep clean the fibers. I remove the gum from the fibers and bring it to the surface. It's easy to clean the surface, but the gum deep inside is not.
It's a lot harder to remove, but it works great and eventually you want to hit it one more time with some steam that will disinfect the area, prevent mold and odors, so this is what it looked like before and this is what it looks like. Now it's nice and clean and you can see why I like the vaporizer so much. Also, there are other applications we could use this for on different parts of the car besides stains on the carpet now that you are done cleaning the carpet and removing all the stains. The next thing you need to do is wash the carpet with shampoo and this is an important step because it will remove odors from the carpet and clean anything that we can't reach with just the vacuum, any small stains or discoloration that it may have.
If it finds any little bit of dirt in there, it will clean it all up and make it nice, and it still looks like a new carpet, so let's start shampooing the carpets. All you need is a carpet cleaner and a brush. and a towel, you first want to spray the entire carpet with your carpet cleaner. Try using a carpet cleaner that not only removes stains but also removes odors, especially if the interior of your car has an odor, most of the smell comes from your carpet, as well as your seats and

headliner

, and this carpet definitely smells musty with all that dirt that was in there so finish spraying the entire carpet and then take your brush and we want to swirl the carpet cleaner deep into the fibers for the most part.
The carpet cleaner stays close to the surface and that will only clean the top of the fibers, but we want to brush deeply into the carpet that way, we'll get a deeper, better clean as you brush, make sure you brush. different directions, this will make the cleaner penetrate your carpet more evenly and give you better results. Now you will want to take an absorbent towel like this microfiber towel and rub the entire carpet to absorb the dirt. and cleaner that we just loosened,You'll want to press down with a medium pressure and move the towel back and forth making sure you clean the entire carpet and just take a look at all the dirt that we absorbed from the carpet when doing this next what you'll want to do is take a vacuum cleaner and we will suck up the loose dirt and the cleaner that we have not absorbed into the towel.
This is basically sucking the dirt and cleaner to the surface. and I like to draw lines on the rug working in one direction and then the other direction, that way I know I'm thorough and not missing any spots and finally you'll take your towel and make one more pass over the rug to soak up the last bit. of dirt and cleaner that we just absorbed well and now this is how you wash your carpets. look how clean it looks and while it is very clean, if you want, we can make it even cleaner and to do that you would use something like this.
This is a water injection carpet vacuum cleaner. It works like a charm. I love these things. So how does it work? on this side we have a reservoir for soapy water, tap water, whatever water you want and then we have a specialized hose that shoots the liquid that we have in this container and then sucks it up with this special nozzle and puts it here, let me. I show you, when you press the trigger, the water shoots out like this and all you need to do is press the trigger and slowly drag the nozzle along the carpet with medium downward pressure and what happens is the water injected into the carpet and dissolves. and we loosen the dirt and then we suck it up again and you can see the dirty water coming out of the carpet and leaving a nice clean carpet and I don't know about you but for some reason this is super satisfying, you get such a deep clean and you can see that it's really working and just like with the regular vacuum I like to go in one direction and then the opposite direction and that will give us full coverage and then once you're done the last thing you want to do is get a brush hard and clean and we're going to brush the carpet fibers in one direction with all the carpet fibers going in the same direction, the carpet is going to look great, it's going to look uniform. having the same shade, the same color, it's just that extra step to make the carpet look amazing and after you let it dry, the carpet literally looks new, but even better, take a look at the recovery tank, look at all the dirt we have. extracted from the carpet and that will eliminate odors and make the carpet look much cleaner so let's finish the rest of the interior and I think you understand the process spray the entire carpet with a carpet cleaner work that cleaner with a brush and then use a microfiber towel to absorb the dirt or better yet use an extractor vacuum which I highly recommend for amazing results, and then finally use a brush to brush the carpet fibers in the same direction to give it a really nice, uniform look. the carpet is beautiful and the carpet cleaning transformation is amazing here is the before on my sister's car and here is the after before and after this looks amazing so what a difference it makes shampooing carpets no It just looks a million times better but it used to smell very musty in here and now it smells nice and fresh, but there is one thing I want to mention: it is very important while cleaning the carpets that you do not over saturate them, do not get too much liquid in them if If you take a look at the carpet you can see there is carpet material on top and then underneath we have sound deadening material and this sound editing material acts like a sponge, it absorbs water and is very difficult to remove unless you remove all of it. the carpet and the air. and the problem with that is if you saturate it too much it will retain water and you could get mold so don't soak your carpets in water or soak them you just want to use the carpet cleaner and if you have an extractor like I showed you and it will come out perfect, So while we let these rugs air out and dry, let's move on to the next step.
Now let's clean these dirty mats. Cleaning the mats is a similar process, but use the removeability. Car mats are an advantage for you, for example, we could remove most of the dirt from the surface quite quickly. I also like to tap the mats, which works wonders to get dirt trapped deep in the fibers. the dirt that's coming out right now, then we can vacuum up the leftover dirt and prepare it for my favorite step and that step is to use a hose or a pressure washer and blow all the dirt and stains out of the mat.
A pressure washer works wonders. for this and clean the dirt and stains very easily now we can spray the mat with carpet cleaner and let it sit for a minute. We've already used a brush like this instead of showing you this again. I want to show you how to use one of these brushes that attaches directly to a drill, so with the brush on the drill I like to keep light to medium downward pressure and a medium speed on the drill and let the drill do everything the job, just make sure to keep moving the drill from side to side or up and down, don't let it stop and stay in one place, and to keep the cleaning relatively uniform, go back and forth across the carpet and then do the same in the other direction.
Also if you have any logos or stains be careful but give it a little more attention to make it cleaner so with the mats brushed now we can use the pressure washer and wash away all the dirt and soap and again you will be able to see how dirty it is. that water is and finally take your extractor vacuum and you will suck out the remaining dirty water and the cleaner will not dry it perfectly, but it will take out most of the water and it will just wet the carpets and check. All the dirt we removed from these mats is now as good as new, so although a brush like this definitely works well, I suggest you look at one of these, it makes the job quick and easy and you get amazing results, so now we need to let These mats dry completely and a little trick to make these mats dry pretty quickly is to hang them on a hanger like this and put them in the air.
You just want them to be outdoors and hanging them that way allows that. They dry very quickly so our mats are clean, they are dry and that's where most people would stop, but we have one more step and that is to protect them. This is a carpet protector that prevents future stains, makes carpet cleaning easier, and prevents salt stains if you live in an area where there is snow and you get salt, let me show you how to apply it. This is like spray painting. You want light, even overlapping layers, so work your way across the floor mat in one direction.
Okay, now We're going to let this dry for 15 minutes and after it's dry, we're going to apply one more light coat in the opposite direction again. Make sure to overlap slightly so there are no uneven spots and we cover the entire mat and finally I like it. to cover the edge just to make sure I got the entire edge so I sprayed one last spray around the edge like alright so you know what they say the proof is in the pudding and I want to show you what to expect when you protect your carpet so we have this rug right here that is not protected and then we have this rug right here that is protected you can pretend that this is juice this is coffee or you can just pretend that it is water it doesn't matter any liquid that gets into the rug will be absorbed directly you see how it comes in directly with our protected mat. check this out, the water stays right on the surface, it repels almost like waxing your car and then if you want to clean it off you just absorb it. so so you can see the benefit of not only cleaning the floor mats but also protecting them that way it's harder to get stained and much easier to clean so now let's put the mats on the passenger side as well the ones on the driver's side and Beautiful, these mats look amazing, our carpet looks amazing, this interior is starting to take shape and it looks great, especially compared to before, so with all this nice and clean, now we can move on to the next step.
Next, let's clean the trunk first if you can remove the trunk floor this way, definitely remove it so we can clean it on the outside of the car. Now let's get that spare tire out of there so we can really clean this spare tire well, so now we have access to vacuum the carpet down here and then we can remove this carpet and vacuum the spare tire area as well and then move on to the carpet on the side of the trunk here and on the other side and remember that if you need to use a brush to loosen the dirt, definitely do that. and will help you achieve a deeper clean.
Now we can clean and protect this piece of plastic trim. Start by using an interior cleaner and spray it on your brush then brush the cleaner on the plastic and I like to use a brush on textured plastics because it gets into all the nooks and crannies and then once you're done brushing the cleaner on, Now we can clean the cleaner with the microfiber towel. Next, we want to apply a protectant to another brush and work this brush into the plastic just like we did. We did it with the cleaner and don't worry about using too much protectant, we want the plastic to absorb all of that protectant which will make the plastic look new and finally after letting it sit for a minute or two we can now polish it. with a microfiber towel and look at these before and after results, this looks amazing and finally we can't forget to vacuum the main rug that we removed from the trunk and it's really not that dirty so just vacuum a little and it looks like brand new so with everything in the trunk all nice and clean we were able to put it all back together so our trunk looks amazing no stains it's nice and clean no dirt and our plastics look good , but we don't want to.
To stop there, that's just the inside of the trunk, don't forget you also have the top of the trunk that closes. Now I vacuumed all this because it was not very dirty, I did it very quickly, it looks very good, but what is very dirty. This thing up here, this paint, doesn't look good and is this something you'll see every time you open the trunk? Look, look at all that dirt there too, if we take a look down here, you can see there's all that dirt. in the rain gutter there's debris here, sticks, leaves and twigs, so we want to remove all of that because it doesn't look good and we want it to look nice and clean.
These are the little things you have to remember to clean to make it come out amazing, so let's start by vacuuming all the leaves and twigs out of the rain gutters now, instead of pulling out the hose to clean all this up and potentially getting water in the trunk, I'm going to use a waterless wash and this. it has wax so saturate the area with the waterless wash and waterless washes are designed to prevent scratches while cleaning light dust and dirt so you don't have to hose this off and this is what I mean by pay attention to the details, this looks so good, it gives you that new car feeling because now it's clean in the tight spaces, spray it on and then I suggest using a soft brush to agitate the dirt and loosen it that way, all you have to do is do is wipe it with a microfiber towel, so we could go from this to this and from this to this and this really gives you a good idea of how much of a difference this makes when you clean the surrounding paint on the trunk.
Now, do you look at this bit? It looks super clean. Not only is it vacuumed, it's stain-free, but we went the extra mile, we cleaned the spare tire well, made sure it was organized, it was clean, there's no trash down there and we paid attention to the little details, we cleaned here, everything what was painted. the surfaces are cleaned and waxed including the rain gutters this is very important it changes the appearance of the car when you open the trunk when it is not full of leaves it is not dirty and looks new all this is waxed and clean and looks Simply amazing, this is how you clean your trunk, so next I'm going to show you how to clean the headliner.
Now the headliner can be a little tricky because it's quite delicate and you don't want to be aggressive with it. because you could damage it let me show you so we're in the back of my dad's jag and this is exactly what we want to avoid. This is why roofs are delicate, we don't want the roof to sag like that and being too aggressive with it while cleaning could cause this problem the roof covering is just this material on the back of this material usually It is a foam, you can see the foam indented and on the back there is an adhesive if we damage the foam or damage the adhesive.
Over time the headliner could sag so we don't want to be aggressive like we were with the carpets. We want to be very gentle with how we clean this and just get to the surface material so we don't cause anything like this in the future, so cleaning the headliner is pretty simple, it's allmatter of technique this is all you need we're going to use a carpet cleaner we have a soft bristle brush make sure your brush is extra clean and then we have a soft absorbent microfiber towel and that's it so let's get started and this headliner looks pretty clean, but there's a nice mark on the back that we need to clean up now before we do anything.
My biggest tip for cleaning a headliner is to always try to start with dry cleaning. let's not go in with any liquid, we want to try to use as little liquid as possible when cleaning this, so if we don't need to use any liquid, that's awesome, I'll start with a clean, dry microfiber towel. It is very important that this is clean. If it is dirty, you will simply spread more dirt over this and lightly rub back and forth to try to clean as much of the dirt off the surface. Look, we already eliminated a lot. I can still see a mark there, but it's much better than before and I just rub it lightly back and forth to try to get most of it out and then I'll move on to another clean part of the microfiber towel. and again lightly rub it and wow, that's coming out now, so that's really good, unfortunately you can still see that there's a very clear mark there that we need to remove, so now we'll move on to using a brush again. be a dry clean, we're not using any liquid yet, hopefully it won't be necessary, but we'll keep it dry right now and it's very important that the bristles on your brush are clean.
I cleaned them with soapy water and dried them because if it's dirty from something else you cleaned, you're just going to push it into the headliner and even just a little bit of the dirt will make it visible because this is a nice white headliner, so get in there and lightly brush off the dirt don't press too hard oh man this is coming out beautiful I don't even know where that mark is anymore and we didn't have to use any liquid which is super important if you could clean a mark like that without any liquid that It's the best case scenario, here's a before and after, and that was a textbook example of how to clean up a brand.
Mark the headliner without using any liquid, but unfortunately sometimes you need to use a liquid cleaner because the stain is deep inside, like this stain here, so again we'll start with a clean portion of our microfiber towel. and we're going to lightly rub back and forth to try to clean this up as much as we can and you can definitely see that this stain is a lot deeper and it's going to be harder to remove, so now let's use a dry brush to go deeper. on the fabric and now you can still see there is a stain here mainly here but there are still some marks here and here after dry cleaning now we have to move on to wet cleaning so take your carpet cleaner and add only a little. on your microfiber towel and work that cleaner into the fibers of the towel that way the headliner won't absorb it completely.
Now lightly wipe the headliner to try to clean the stain from the surface of the headliner and the goal here is not to saturate the headliner we don't want to see any watermarks from our cleaner and we're getting close it looks better here we can still see a slight stain, but it's still there, so let's try to clean this a little deeper and do that. take your brush and spray some carpet cleaner there and then apply it to the headliner to remove the stain and if the headliner starts to get saturated like you see here, don't worry, there is a solution for this, we didn't do it. use a lot of cleaner so it's really no big deal just focus on removing that stain and once it's removed wipe the area with the microfiber towel so it looks clean except for the giant watermark we just created Now if we leave it. this and let it dry you will most likely see the edge of the watermark, we definitely don't want that, so what we're going to do is blend that watermark almost like blending a paint job so it blends together. there are no hard paint lines, we are working on the edge of the watermark and extending it outward so that the wet part of the headliner blends with the dry part of the headliner and the goal here is to blend it completely so that it cannot be see a hard line. watermark, then go in there with your dry microfiber towel and lightly wipe off any moisture that you can and it should blend in very well with the surrounding dry headliner and look there is no more watermark, that's how you remove that watermark to It doesn't dry and it looks horrible, so we go from this to this, to this beautiful thing and there you have it, this is how to super clean the car's carpets, as well as the trunk and the headliner, and what a big difference they make the carpets clean with the carpets on Susan they were a disaster but now they look great and the same for my sister's car the carpets were a disaster but now they look amazing and this is most of the work you are going to do to clean the interior, so once you do this, the rest is easy, the same goes for the trunk, it was a mess, but now it is nice and tidy, and finally those annoying stains on the headliner are clean and no longer a monstrosity.
Now we're not done in the next video. We will focus on cleaning the dash center console and door panels and we will also clean the seats which will be a big transformation.
