May 28, 2022
hello friends welcome back to my channel todays video we are creating some

high

end home

decor

diys

using mostly

dollar

tree

items hope you get a lot of inspiration from todays video lets start with our first project using these five gallon stir sticks from walmart you get three in a pack for a

dollar

you're going to need six cut to 13 inches and two cut to eight and a half inches the end pieces of two of those I cut about an inch off the end and then i took my sandpaper and sanded all those edges down smooth.

Now you can cut them with your handheld miter box, which I have one of the ones listed in my Amazon store in my description box below. If you're interested, I'm using a square. so you can line everything up make sure it's straight and each of these are firmly together. I'm going to take the two eight and a half inch pieces and place one on top of the bottom that I measured. about a half and an inch from the bottom and top to make a mark so you know exactly where to place these. I applied wood glue and spread it out evenly then you can put it where your half inch mark is at the bottom of your paint stick and then leave your half inch gap at the top I put a couple of books there to sit and they had firm pressure and all the glue would stick once the glue had set you can tint this, paint it any color you want or whatever stain you want I'm going to do. a very heavy white drybrush distressing and I'm going to go over the entire front piece as well as those sides so if you've never drybrushed before just dip your brush into the paint then wipe off the ends on a paper towel and then you go over your piece and I dry brushed it where it was mostly white and you just saw a little bit of that natural wood peek through now I'm going to take one of these dollar

tree

lock stickers as well as those final two pieces and give them a coat of black chalk paint now i fo and this beautiful fabric in the crafter square section on the dollar tree has some very beautiful designs and i'm going to use this metal chicken now yeah mine looks a little distressed because a little bit of hand soap spilled out of the bag all over the place and I guess it just ruined the galvanized paint look they had in there but I'm just going to use this as a template for this project so once I decided exactly what design I want ro cut, I'm going to place the metal. chicken under my cloth make sure everything lines up and everything looks good from the front and then I'll carefully flip it over and realign it so I can take an extra fine point sharpie and trace this on the back of the fabric just take your time and carefully go through every nook and cranny of this chicken then i decided to go ahead and cut it with a little bit of excess to make it more manageable as i am cutting it this does take a bit of time but if you are very careful , take your time and twist the fabric you will be able to cut this beautiful chicken design now once we get this cut it is so pretty love it so far and our barn door has dried.

I'm going to place our fabric in the center of the barn door. I am using mod podge to do this and a very soft dry brush to apply the mod podge. You want to apply an even coat everywhere your fabric will be and I find it easier to center the fabric and then pull half over the application to smooth it out really press those edges down to make sure it sticks to the mod podge and then lift the other side up and start in the center where you left the other side out press that down again make sure you press those edges so it all seals and even though this was a chalk paint I painted with mod podge it leaves a bit of a different sheen so i decided to go over the entire front of the piece except the fabric which i did n I didn't go over the fabric with the mod podge.

I did this so that everything had a consistent glow. Then we can add those two ends of those paint bars. These hinges on the side and the door lock now if you can't find those stickers on the dollar tree you can use one of the spinning tower pieces as a door handle which would be just as cute. I'm going to hot glue this all together and if you want to hang this on the wall you can add a hanger. using some jute twine on the back i love how this project turned out and there are so many beautiful projects you can create using this beautiful dollar tree fabric for our next project we will also be using two of these rectangular chalkboard signs as the two dollar tree house chalkboard signs remove tags, hangers and staples from the back, some of the staples are fairly easy to remove.

Next if you're interested in one of those, we're going to take the rectangular piece and attach it to the inside of the house piece with all the slates facing the outside. I'm attaching this using a gorilla wood glue in the center spreading it out and then putting a dot of hot glue on each end to hold it down temporarily until the wood glue sets you want to make sure you keep everything as straight as possible let's add that side and then once the hot glue sets we'll flip it around and add the other rectangular piece on that side the same way with the wood glue and hot glue then we can attach that final piece of the house on the end and I found it easier to flip it over and add all my glue at once so I can slide that house piece all the way to the edge, press really firmly and make sure everything stays straight, wipe off any excess glue and this is what it should look like then i'm going to grab some of these ruler sticks you can get a 10 pack at lowe's for about a buck come on g to use five of those t I ended up trimming them down to about eight and a quarter inches long so we can create the bottom for our toolbox we're making now, the five will be too many so you'll have to cut one of those pieces off.
I'm temporarily attaching it with hot glue and making sure to attach each one next to the other. When I get to the final piece, I'm going to flip it. and use my pencil and mark where I'm going to need to trim this so I used a utility knife and scored it about four or five times and then it was very easy to remove and then you can sand it down nice and smooth I took the edge that I cut and made sure to place it inside so that the straight edge was on the outside and since these pieces are made of wood, you can stain them, paint them the color you want.
I'm going to dry with white chalk. paint around all the wood parts including about half the inside of the four edges and that's just in case you can ee those inside pieces too i'm going to take a dowel this came in an assortment pack from walmart and i held it in the top corners of the houses so I can figure out how much I needed to cut that off and then I can put it in there, using hot glue, this will be the handle of our toolbox that you want to press down very firmly and once the glue sets, brush on dry over the handle to match now to make it more secure I recommend you take a staple gun and go around the outside edges of those paint bars to give it a nice strong base but that's how it's turning out now if you're going to to use the actual blackboard signs to mature with chalk you will have to season each of these chalkboards and to season that all you need to do is take a piece of chalk and go over it r each of these and spread the chalk around it and let it sit for a minute and then you can wipe it off with a paper towel this will keep it from drying out. if you don't season it the first time you write something in there it will stay there forever so it prevents it from staying there and you can erase draw and write whatever you want there so the possibilities with this little mini toolbox they are endless because you can take your cricut and create stickers or you can add stickers or you can write or draw on it or you can keep it simple I think it turned out beautiful and there are so many different ways you can

ate this piece y'all let me know what you think if you are new to my channel and you guys are enjoying today's projects.
I would love for you to become a part of our community by clicking the subscribe button on all of my current subscribers. Thank you so much. I appreciate each and every one of you if you would like to visit me on my other social media accounts. All those links are in my description box below. I found this round wooden dollar tree sign. r tree before I am going to create a stain using acrylic paint in the color of nutmeg which is about a tablespoon and then about two drops of burnt amber and half a cap of water I am going to shake it very well I added the burnt amber because nutmeg is a a little too orange.
I wanted to add a little more depth. I went over this whole piece, especially around those letters that you want to put in all those nooks and crannies of the letters with this stain mix, so now that it's dry, it's darkened a bit. I also did the back and outer edges. I will very carefully use an artist brush and black chalk paint to go over just the top of the welcome word and this is turning out so cute. i can't believe it was only 1.25 im going to reattach the hanger im going to put a new hanger you could leave the hanger it was already there but i didnt want to stain or paint it so i just removed it and just adding another jute twine hanger just folding twist it in half and thread that loop through and then knot it at the end gluing and cutting off the excess i am going to use some greenery i have in my stash this is what came out of a hobby lobby packet and i am going to layer them in the center and I'm going to attach them with some floral wire, so I'm just going to put three pieces on each side, I just want to wrap it really tight so everything stays together.
I'm also going to glue this on with some hot glue. right downtown and then I'm going to use some flowers from the hobby lobby they're just some really beautiful packages you can find and I always buy mine when they're on sale when they're 40 or 50 percent off I just put the location I wanted and I glued them on, then I'm going to create a bow using this buffalo check ribbon. I have this in my Amazon store in my description box below if you're interested if you'd like to view. the full and more detailed tutorial on how to create this bow, i will leave a video link in my description box below on how to create this kind of similar bow, it just gives you step by step instructions and once i've done that i'll paste it right in the center of the flowers and I love how it turned out.
It's so pretty and only costs a few dollars. Let me know what you think of project number three. I am very excited about this project. If you've been watching my channel for a while, then you've seen me create a couple of miniature cabinets like this one. one just like this i will have links for each of these videos to show you how i created them in my description box below if you are interested in seeing them today we are going to create a new miniature cabinet and i will start by using six of these wooden cubes with the inserts Dollar Tree drawer insert and I'm going to take the same stain that we used on our previous project and I'm going to go over all of these pieces so that when we put our drawer inserts back in we're going to put that design that's in there towards the inside, so we have the flat side towards the outside of the drawer.
I also made sure to stain the inside of these. Now I'm going to join two sets of three together using hot glue. You could also use wood glue if you want. you don't have any stain there and you just have the bare wood as you glue this you want to make sure you keep them flush on the top and inside because not all of these boxes are exactly the same size so on that side you want it to be flush on this side and you'll see why in a minute when we put everything together so I stayed on the outside of the drawers but not the inside of the drawers so we're going to put them in there put them to the side we're using one of these wooden trays and one of these dollar tree house signs the house sign measures four and five eighths wide and six and a half inches from top to bottom and the tray measures a little over four and five eighths from side to side and six and five eighths f From top to bottom we'll take out the back of the house, sign, sand and then remove the sticker because I'm going to use the back as the front but I sanded the other part or the back on that side because I'm going I'm also going to paint the tray with the same stain as well as the frame of the house all but the inside the bottom of the tray I'm Using some of these quartz paint sticks you can get them from Lowe's and I cut them to get a straight edge and then hold them in place to make a mark so I know where to cut and we can use this to cover the handles on the inside of the pan so you'll use one of those quartz stirring rods paint, as well as a regular size craft rod, you will cut two of each and they will fit perfectly inside this tray.to cover that handle then i'm going to use that same stain and stain them as they dry too i'll take some black shawl k paint and paint the back of our house sign as well as very carefully paint the inside bottom of the tray and this will take two coats now that it's all dried i can place those craft sticks on the inside of the tray to cover those handles and this is what it should look like once i get them in there and i'm just going to hold them in place with hot glue and I'll do the exact same thing on the other side, make sure you press really firmly so everything is locked in place, then we can attach the backing to our house frame and see here what I painted. the back of that also took six of the spinning tower pieces as well as six wooden cubes these come from a dollar tree i gave them all a coat of black paint now they are going to go in the bottom of our drawer inserts and these will become the feet so you want the front of the turntable piece and side piece to be flush with the front and each side of the front of your sets of drawers and then place one in the back and it will do the exact same thing on the other side so you have one on each side and one on the back and make sure they are flush with the front and sides then we'll take our tray and our home and we will attach them to the drawer sets you want the bottom of the tray to be flush with the bottom leg of one of the drawer sets and also flush with the front because the tray itself is not as wide as those drawers, so you'll want to hold it in your place and keep it flush with the front of the drawer set then we can hot glue the other side keeping it flush in those same areas just like we did with the other side and see that this is what I mean by that part back isn't as thick as those drawers so you want to keep it flush with the front and then we can add hot glue to the sides of the drawers on top of that tray so we can add our house and keep it flush with the front and push those sides in to get all that glue in here now I wanted to create a shelf for the inside of the tray so I'm going to take some of those wooden cubes and glue them right to the back of the tray in the center where it sits. attach the bottom two drawers together and i ended up using three wooden cubes on each side and that will sit flush with the front of the tray then i'll take some of those paint stir sticks as well as some of those regular craft sticks just like we covered the inside handles of the tray I'm going to cut them so we can create our rack you'll need three of the regular craft sticks one of these will cover the front of our rack and then two of the stir sticks from quartz paint.
I'm going to give each of these a coat of that brown stain and then if any areas need to be touched up, I can go in and touch those areas with the stain. I'm going to take those six wooden cubes that we painted black and line them up in the center of each of the drawers, then I can hot glue each one together. I didn't measure them because these drawers aren't exactly the same so I just looked at it and tried to center them as much as possible now I take my blow dryer on the

high

setting and try to get all those strands of glue off then we can attach our craft sticks to our cubes of wood inside the tray.
I started by going through the bottom first I add those two sticks with the glue I can add the other two sticks on top of those wooden cubes and then once everything is in place I can take the last one and glue it to the wooden cubes in front to give it a nice finish and then this project is done. I love how this miniature cabinet turned out it's so beautiful I love the colors I love the details you guys let me know what you think of this project and if you have a favorite project from today's video let me know in the comments . below i always love to know which one is your favorite thank you so much for taking time out of your day to watch my video i really appreciate each and every one of you please take care and i will see you next time
