Hello friends, welcome to my channel, today there are 35

farmhouse

DIYs. This is a mega video. I hope you enjoy it now. Let's start crafting. I couldn't believe this was originally 199 and now we will make it for so much cheaper. I'm really excited about this project because it's a brand new product on the

dollar

tree

, run right now to your

dollar

tree

s and pick them up, but don't buy them all so I can pick them up too anyway, they're great. Great, it's these spheres that are made of metal wires and if you've been shopping there for a while you'll know that they are the same wires they use for their crown rings, so what am I going to do?

The start is I'm going to cut this sign out now, it's just because I didn't want to run out to the store and buy another one because they actually sell these smaller ones, but I just need a base for my topiary so I'm going to cut this out and then I'm going to reattach one of the sides so I can get the right size for my topiary base again. They sell these smaller signs and I was just being lazy and didn't want to drive. I went to the store and also didn't want to spend another dollar.

More Interesting Facts About,

I already had this one and knew I could cut it down to the right size, so if you have one on hand that's already smaller then you'll be all set, but once I figured it all out and cut it down to size. Then I'm going to take some e6000 and some hot glue to make sure it stays in place while the e6000 dries and then I'm just going to take this stem holder and I'm going to glue it with six mil hot glue to one of these flower pots. plastic they have on the dollar tree again.

All of these supplies are from the dollar tree and this is super affordable. I spent nine bucks to make these things versus a crazy 199, right? So once I have my base and everything done, I'm going to take a piece of foam core and you can see here it's a little bit smaller than the base and I want to make sure that the top of the planner and the glass adheres well to the bottom , but if I try to apply e6000 or hot glue to the foam center piece, it will eventually come off and break, so what I decided to do was trace the base of the candle holder onto the glass.

On the foam core I cut it out and then hot glued it on and then I took some e6000 and put it on the base which is a thicker, harder surface to be able to hold it on, compared to that foam core I added a little more hot glue around. and then I inserted the glass stem into the base, this will allow it to really dry and stick well today for my DIY summer bulb. I have two channels to share with all of you. I would love for everyone to go and see them. run by barbara country lily diy decor she has had her channel for about two months and I am already very impressed with the

diys

she has been doing on her channel and then the other one is run by christy she has a very beautiful channel like Well she has It's been up and running for about five months and there's definitely another person to check out.
Give them some love and let them know I sent you their way. They are called wildflowers and I love them. This other flower I have here. Actually, it was in the fall. I think they wear it all year round. I've seen it for a long time, but I'm going to remove those little green ones that you just saw me holding there now to make sure your sphere stays in place. You're going to open it up to your liking and then you're going to take the hot glue and just glue it into place. Now I want to create it to look like dried vines over time, like you would.
I see in a normal topiary outside of the stems and vines, so first I'll take some twine and lightly wrap each of its sides and then at the top I'll create a sort of ball effect by twisting it a little bit, going down on one side, going around the bottom, going back up to one side, adding more on top until I get the desired look that I want for this topiary and then once that's done, we're just going to cut it towards the bottom so you don't see any weird threads, you know, sticking out and hot glue it in place, that's what the top looks like.
I think it looks so cute, especially when we start adding everything. of our greenery and flowers, so you're going to go ahead and just remove all the flowers from your bundle, stem the wires and cut the ends to separate them all you don't want any of them to be attached because we want it to look like your trellised vines in this sphere like you would see them outside in a garden, so one by one you will take the hot glue, don't burn your fingers, I did it several times and then I'm going to put some greenery, maybe a flower, maybe a little more of that vegetation and you're going to continue mixing and making it flow naturally and beautifully, and I didn't do it with the same length. on each side of the sphere some were less a little lower others reached to the top that knot that I made with the string and you will see at the end when I show it all wrapped with all this vegetation how I don't want it to be so obviously consistent that you want it It seems like you know that some are growing better than others and that makes it look more real and natural so that when someone sees it in your house they think wow!
How cool that you have something like this in your house and you'll say I made it, I made it myself, so here's the final look and you can see, like I said, some go all the way to the top and some don't. Now, once everything was dry, I spray painted it black to get that cast iron look that we had as inspiration and then I'm going to take a little bit lighter than the black, a very, very dark slate gray, I'm just going to apply lightly. Dry brush with a little bit of that paint because we want to create that cast iron or pot look and then, you know, just add back a little bit of black where you feel like you went too light because it's supposed to look black, but you want it. . just so you know, it looks like cast iron and then again because I love this rustic look and this is the theme of what I'm doing with this video and all of these projects.
I'm just going to come back with some brown paint tapping. the corners here and there and then mixing it in with the black to create that really rustic feel to the climate, the salty sea air once everything is dry and you've gone around all the desired places in your pot. I'm ready to start filling it, so I'm going to take a square of foam, cut it to the right size and make sure it fits really well because we want it to last a long time and then I'm going to hot glue it all together. instead, I'll also make sure to pad the sides to make sure it's really snug in there and that the hot glue holds it well.
Another tip is that you don't want it to be too

high

up there. Since you don't want it to clash with your topiary, you want to make sure it is placed properly. Now I'm going to slow down on the next part because I want everyone to see really well what I'm doing and I don't want to go too fast, so I take a piece of wire, I fold it in half like this and then I put it on the end. of the topiary that goes into the pot and then I hold it. as close as I can to the topiary sphere and I'm just going to twist it to create a nice tight twisted piece of wire on top and you're doing this because the topiary itself will come off easily if I just hot glue it on or e6000, so what I'm doing is I'm creating this wire holder and then I'm putting a little bit of glue here on my foam and I'm going to take that wire and I'm going to push it in.
Stick it in the foam and it will help keep it there even more comfortable and secure without it falling out. Once you have it in place, you can hot glue the sides where the sphere touches the pot and it will stay there for a long time and you won't have to worry about it falling apart or rolling away when someone knocks it over. Once you have everything glued in place, you will then grab some ferns that they also have on the dollar tree right now. I tell you, the dollar tree has so many beautiful flowers. I am very impressed this year.
I think you'll hear me say that I'll try to make a lot of my videos. don't make that comment every time, but I get so excited with each new season that they keep coming out with better and better stuff, so you're going to go ahead and put some of those ferns up and then you're going to Also take some of your green moss and fill it in to cover all the foam and then I'll just take a little bit more of these little wildflower stems that you know and I'll put them in there now to finish off that

farmhouse

. beach nautical look, I'm going to take some of that thick rope and I'm just going to wrap it around the base.
The other reason I decided to do this is because I just cleaned up the bottom base look and I just don't do it. I don't know, I personally liked how it looked, you don't have to do this part, but I really liked it, I thought it looked really nice when it was all done, so I'm going to take another rope and apply hot glue. the back so it stays in place and then I'm going to tie an overhand knot in the front and fray the ends of the rope to create that nice nautical look again, I think I've got it.
In my mind quite that farmhouse beach look seems coastal just because we're thinking of a warmer climate, it's very cold right now in Missouri. I miss the California weather I grew up with my whole life, so this is the finished Look and the next craft we'll be making is with this free printable I designed for you all to grab. It's linked below in my description box, don't forget to grab it before moving on. We'll take these printables, some scrapbook paper, and some foam core and turn them into something really special that's just farmhouse chic. Go ahead and cut out your printable right on that cut line and once you're done you have all three cut out and ready to go.
Then you will take your foam board and trace them. This is what the printables look like once they are all cut out and ready to go so here I am. I'm going to take that printable, turn it over so it's back side up, and I'm going to trace four squares. Now you'll see that I actually made five, but I decided to come back later and trace the fifth square once the square was built, you'll see in just a second that I'm going to go ahead and cut them all out so I have these four different pieces and again you'll see me cut the fifth piece, but I'm going to cut them all out and once everything has been exact with a knife, I can start putting my box together.
We're going to create three stackable tier boxes that I think are the best thing ever and a really fun way to get some dramatic height when it comes to your home decor, we're going to start putting all those pieces together. I like to make sure all my pieces interlock with each other so I hope this makes sense in that one of the pieces I stick it on one side and then go to the other side and place it on the inside that way so all the pieces bend together. I don't know if that makes sense so you're going to See it here where I put it on the side and the top and then I'm snapping them together like that so they're nice and secure and then I'm going to come back with some glue hot inside. from the box and taking a popsicle stick and smashing it all over so it's really nice and sturdy.
Now look, this is where I decide to go back and cut that fifth piece again. I'll make sure to leave the box and then I cut it out because I noticed there was a little bit of a short edge on the sides and I wanted to make sure it was a fully covered top so once I had that piece I went ahead and glued it on and it was Ready to start decorating this box. Now keep in mind that I didn't put anything on the bottom because you want to be able to stack them when the season is over or you can leave them out all year long, so I decided not to put anything on top. on the bottom so they store nicely and you don't have those big, bulky things that you're trying to store in the future, so you're going to take some mod podge and you're just going to put it on top of your box and put it on. your printable move over to the other side put on some scrapbook paper just make sure everything is nice and snug there and then this is the quickest way I decided to do it was I cut it out after I already put it in the box and then just modify it, so now you'll see I'm going to move on to the next side.
I'm going to add a little bit more of that wonderful glue that I love to use in a lot of my videos and then I'm going to add the scrapbook paper and then I'm going to put it on the cutting mat and I'm going to cut it out once it's there like that. In the box, all of these papers were from Hobby Lobby and were on sale. You can get some great deals on scrapbooking papers there and they have some really pretty farmhouse papers. Once you have those papers, everything will be mod podge and sealed. take some black and white paint and create a kind of ombre effect, you don't want it to be super black, super gray or super white, you want it to look old, worn and worn, so I'm just going to go in. and I just mix some paint and then I'm going to takea brush and I'll add some little streaks here and there with the brown and Dry brush with a little bit of brown in the middle and keep playing with it until it looks worn and worn.
I think this looks super beautiful on a bookshelf somewhere or maybe on a side table. I just think they look really cute and they give you that. great height and especially when you combine them next to some flowers and other plants, they look very pretty, so keep playing with your painting, have fun, this is something that I don't think is easy to mess up and just keep erasing what you don't like and keep adding more what you do, so now here I'm going to show you where you can all stack inside each other with the three different sizes that we're going to do today.
The template works from the printable, just plot that for each of your boxes and you're done. I hope you are enjoying this mega combo video so far. I love doing this here on my channel because it's like an index of different holidays. and topics that I publish here regularly on my channel between two and three times a week. I love having this channel so if you are new don't forget to click the subscribe button and like this video, it means a lot to me and it really helps my channel. These are the three items I purchased at my local thrift store.
They've been on the shelves for a while now as I go through and look for new things to pick up and transform, so I knew. people just don't want to pick them up because they look a little old and dated, so today I'm going to show everyone how I'm going to take these three items and turn them into something really special and each one of them. It cost less than two dollars and this first house that we are going to work on I painted it all white to give it a nice layer to cover all the patterns and things that were everywhere and I'm just going to take these popsicle sticks from the tree dollar I'm cutting them at the top and bottom to make sure the length of the stick is the right size for the house and then with a little bit of hot glue I'm going to glue them to the ceiling now.
For this part of the house it's a really weird angle and what I'm going to do is take some cardstock and I just placed it against the edge of the roof and then I traced it and cut it out. to create a template so I can cut out some popsicle sticks that will also work for that space now where the ceiling and that little dome meet, it's even tighter so I'm just taking a piece of stock cardstock again with my fingernail, I'm going to fold the line to make sure it's the right size I need and then I'll also make sure to check my pattern so that that way I don't have any problems with them being the wrong size.
I think making patterns can be very easy, but if you do it wrong it can be very complicated, so I'll make sure I get it right and then I'll grab some. more of those popsicle sticks where I cut the top and bottom, line them all up, lay out my pattern and then I'm going to cut out the pieces I need so I can glue those last little pieces into place on the ceiling. I think using popsicle sticks in craft projects is the best because it gives you that wooden farmhouse look if you love that style, which I do, so I'm just using these popsicle sticks to create a really pretty rooftop in this little house once I have the ones on the roof, I'm going to go ahead and move on to the dome or this pointy part of the roof that's a little more complicated and I'm going to keep cutting them out again once I've traced them with my pattern and I use a lot of hot glue because you don't want them to come off over time.
I'm just gluing them all nice and tight and you can see I'm going over the roof line a little bit. to have an overhang so you don't notice the original roof line, now you'll see more popsicle sticks on the top of the roof. I wanted to hide some of those sticks that don't line up super perfectly because I'm using my scissors, I'm just going to take a couple more popsicle sticks on top and create a nice finished look once everything is glued on top . I went ahead and moved on to the trim on the house when I first did it.
I started painting this black. I was a little nervous because I don't know why I was and I kept thinking, "It would have been really nice if I painted the house blue and did white trim with light wood, so there are a lot of different possibilities." but after continuing to follow, you know what I wanted to do in my head, it ended up working out really well, so I painted all the trim black and then did a wood stain on top of the popsicle sticks using a little bit of brown. a little bit of black paint with a little bit of water and I'm just going over those popsicle sticks to create a darker wood look and then as you can see here, I'm holding a napkin underneath so any drips or spills are wiped away. go straight to the napkin instead of applying the white house paint, then on the front of the house to make it even prettier I added a door, followed the same steps where I cut them to size, made four vertical ones and then two horizontal ones and I love how it looks.
I also wanted to add some little flower boxes to the fronts of the houses, so again I cut out the popsicle sticks. I'm going to take some of this moss and stick it to the little flower. box and then I'll add some little plants to make it look like a little flower box in the front of my house. I think at this point the project started to come to life for me. I was still very nervous about the black trim, but as I played with it more and more, I fell in love with this project. I think the best part about DIY is that it can be a little stressful when you start, but as you keep playing with things. and you customize them, it starts to come to life and you can see, you can imagine where you can put it in your house, I know exactly where I want to put this, which is on my piano, I think it will be the prettiest place to put this now, once I'm done all the planters, I went ahead and created a wreath.
I was simply going around in a curved motion to create a circle with hot glue. I took it a little at a time because you don't want the hot glue to dry and then I kept adding moss on those curved strips of hot glue that I was putting on and then I took some of this boxwood that I cut from a green plant that I had for a long time . vine and I'm just adding that, plus some delicate little white flowers that I picked from the dollar tree and once I have them all here, it looks like this cute little farmhouse wreath that I adore so much that now I can Leave it like this, where they are just the planters and the wreath on the front door, but I wanted to pretty up the top a little bit more, so I'm going to grab a little more of that boxwood from that vine I had.
I picked up from hobby lobby a while ago and I'm just going to take some of the twigs, cut them up and then hot glue them on top. I'm making two on each side, there are two that are longer, two that are shorter and then. I'm adding a bow on top to complete the final look of this house. Okay, we'll move on to the next one, where you saw that first I spray painted it black, then I put some painter's tape and a little plus sign and then I spray painted everything white inside and out. Let's make a first aid kit box.
These boxes are in all thrift stores. I find them all the time and I thought it would be just How cute and again, this is a false idea. You can find these boxes everywhere online, but they charge so much for them it's crazy. I think the cheapest ones I've seen are $30 and I think that's outrageous. I finished. Picking up this box again for less than two dollars, so I'll just grab some of my dollar tree stickers. I always like to put them on a ruler or some kind of flat surface to make sure I line them all up.
I'm putting on a kit first and then I'm going to take some mod podge to make sure my stickers never come off. I'm going to go ahead and seal them and then make sure there's not just a weird paint line, you know, there where the mod podge shows. I'm going to go over the entire front surface of the box to make sure everything is nice and sealed and looks consistent. I'm going to take this tray which again was for less than two dollars I've seen it many times at the thrift store. I knew this was something people just didn't want to take home and I thought I can give it a better personality than it has. state right now, so I'm taking some of this painter's tape and I'm going to tape the sides.
The curved edges were a little trickier and I knew there would probably be some bleeding, so I was trying to make sure I got nice and tight into those cracks and once I had that, I thought it was going to be pretty good, I went ahead and I figured out the spacing of my stripes and where I wanted them to be and I went ahead and lay down. nice long strips of painter's tape, this is an important part of making sure the stripes look nice and the same size, I guess is what I'm trying to say.
I like to make sure they are spaced well apart, so go ahead, go figure. After taking your measurements, lay out those nice straight lines and then go ahead and cover the rest of the white tray. I went ahead and spray painted it with a dark gray as you can see here and then when I removed the painter's tape there was indeed some bleeding and this happens all the time with me with painter's tape but it's okay I decided to go back and touch up a couple of little spots because I wanted to have a nice finish once I touched everything up I went ahead and let it dry for a few minutes and then I took some brown paint with a dry brush technique that I show a lot here on my channel.
I love this effect because it really ages things up. I went ahead and drybrushed some brown paint to distress it. a little bit more and then I'm going to take a little bit of this mod podge and I'm going to go ahead and rub it all over. I also forgot to mention that I roughed it up with some sandpaper to give it a nice worn look. These are the supplies we are going to use for this DIY today two of the dollar tree signs some chalk paint I bought from Joann's with a coupon and then three of the long packets of painter's sticks from Home Depot there are three In a package we are going to need nine of them, so it will be three dollars for those painter's sticks.
Now we're going to remove the labels, push the boards together just like you see me doing here and we're going to measure our painter's sticks where we need to cut on those lines, we're going to have two shorter ones that will go vertical and then we're going to have two longer ones they're going to go along the board that's going to be horizontal, so we need two and two of these to be able to create a frame around these two signs. I love these types of projects because you can take a bunch of nothing and turn it into something really special that we're going to do. a command center where we have a whiteboard a place to hang our keys and put our mail so you can see here I used my hacksaw and my miter box.
I'm going to link that below, it's an Amazon affiliate link and I receive a small commission if you decide to purchase it through that link and I appreciate it to anyone who did this. It means a lot to me, but I'll link it below if you're interested in the one I have at At this point I'm going to go ahead and start gluing them on and you can see I glued the top piece on first and then I'm doing the sides because if you see there where they are broken those points, I tried to do the top and bottom first without realizing that it would be better to do the sides and then the sides didn't fit well, so make sure you do the top, the sides and then the bottom that way to everything fits perfectly around and you're not trying to shove pieces of wood into their places, it just makes it a lot easier this way, so go ahead and attach all the sticks with a little bit of hot glue and then we'll take another long stick of painter and You can see that I pushed it down into the actual space of the wood because this is going to create the mailbox, so I have one that goes widthwise and then we're going to have two that are shorter and they're going to go heightwise. and then this will allow us to create that mailbox for the mail to come in, so you can see, I added a little bit of glue, I'm putting it in place and then I'm adding the sides, now here's something I learned while doing this a little bit more later, you'll see me paint it once you frame the box.
I highly recommend painting the white part of the inside of the box first before placing it on the front. box, that's the only thing I wish I had done and I ended up having to fight putting my brush in there to get everything white, so at this point you want to paint everything white and then go back and paint once you've put the crossbars in the front, but you can see here. I'm using my staple gun. I'll also link this below. I love using a staple gun on all my crafts and then on the back you'll see. that I'm taking a measurement of where those pieces are going to be and I'm just going to grab my gun from the barn and go ahead and staple those markers so I don't go through the other side. becauseWe want to make sure that we are securing the front box where we are going to put our mail, this is really easy, I just used a pencil, I just marked it and brought it on the other side, you could use a ruler if you want, but I didn't want to take one out, so I was a little lazy, so basically mark the spots that you think are going to hit right on the front where the little box is. for the mail is and then just staple it and keep checking to make sure it's not gone well now at this point like I said I should paint at this point but I ended up putting the front bars first and like I said I kind of regretted it because you'll see In a minute it's going to be difficult for me to paint the interior.
Once you have them on, you can go ahead and staple them and secure them in place now. I'm going to go ahead and move on to painting and you'll see here where I have to, like I said, push my brush down to paint that area, so learn from my mistake on this part, but painting is really fun, I always find this part super therapeutic, I love painting things, I don't know what it is about paint, but I just love painting, so here I am, I'm taking some white paint and I'm going to go over everything. the wood, you could stain it if you wanted, it could be really beautiful too, you don't have to just use white, you could use one color, you could stain it, but once you're done with that part, you're going to go ahead and grab your chalk paint and you're going to go right to the seam line between those two boards and you're just going to paint a nice thick coat of chalk paint so you can use chalk on this now that we're I'm going to take these hooks.
I bought them at Home Depot. There were quite a few in a package and I think they were like four dollars. I could be wrong, but it's something close to that price and then I just dialed. where I wanted my hooks to be and I'm using my drill to pre-drill the holes, it makes it much easier to attach these little hooks and then you'll just screw them in, you can add a little bit of wood glue if you want to keep them there permanently, that's one too a great option, but you'll go ahead and just screw them all together so they're tight and if you start having trouble screwing them in you can always use some pliers. and then I grabbed one of these garden labels.
I'm going to scrape off some paint to make the link look really nice on the front of this sign and we'll just stick it on. I'll show you. a little bit of hot glue for that and then I thought it would be really cute if I wrote on there with a little bit of paint or I guess painted the word man. I loved the way it looked, I thought it was as cute as can be. I can't believe how much Pottery Barn sells this stuff. Seriously, you can make them for pennies. At this point I've probably spent about six dollars.
Right now I'm just adding hooks to the top. I took those original gold hooks and closed them. the opening to be a rounded closed piece and I'm screwing them together so you can hang it on the back door and put all your stuff in there today. I have something fun to share with all my friends who want to participate. in these DIYs, but you don't feel comfortable having a YouTube channel on Instagram, my friend Shayna and I are teaming up to host a Dollar Tree DIY tour, come to my account and I'll give you all the information.
All you have to do is PM me and I'll give you info on how we're doing the Dollar Tree Tour where you can post a picture and join a group almost like a playlist but on Instagram if you're interested , visit Instagram. and send me a message and I will give you all the information. I'm going to grab this 6x6 plaque that you can pick up at the dollar tree. They have all kinds of this in their frameworks section and I'll cover it. I bought it with some paint to give it a chalk finish look. I'm just taking a little bit of white paint and a little bit of black paint mixing them together to create a dark slate gray color and then I'm just going to go over it real quick and the whole process.
I'm sure it's nice and covered. I'm not worried about the interior. Sometimes I like to paint the inside so know that if you want that nice finish on both sides you can paint both sides and once you have it all covered. and it's drying to one side you're going to take some of these wildflowers that the dollar tree has now these are some of the new spring flowers that they're putting out I cut off all the green stems and this is how I create a cool vine from the dollar tree where you can get a good look with this.
I think this is the best technique to do this. I discovered this a couple of days ago on a project I love, just put a little glue on the end. and glue the petals together and a long and beautiful vine is formed. Once you've glued them down and they're on the side drying and you've made it as long as you want, then you're going to take a ruler and again, if you have a silhouette, you can always trim them to your silhouette, but I want everyone to see that you don't need to have one of those machines to be able to make a nice sign, simply take a ruler with a pencil sketch about a saying or phrase that you like or a quote whatever and then you are going to take a small tip brush and you are going to go over the letters and just take your time and have fun with it.
A lot of people have asked me how I hand-paint my lettering and it's something I've practiced for many years and it's a really fun project to do when you're sitting and watching TV to practice. to get better and better and it really is the truth, the more you practice hand painting with your letters, the better you will get. I think hand painted letters are so pretty and add such a personalized look and touch to your projects that you can just look at how I'm taking my time here, I'm not rushing and this is a great project like I said, put a movie, put on some music and have fun, just painting them and if you ever make a mistake.
You can always add the same color back, paint it, and then start again, so I recommend trying it out and picking up this skill. This is a very fun thing to do if you don't have a cutting machine now that the vine has established itself. for a while and it's nice and dry, then we'll turn it into a little mini wreath. I like to use a little hot glue on the leaves to attach them to the vine pieces. Once you have them, you can wrap them. Twist it and twist it into a circle and then take some dollar tree tape, make a loop at the top and then with a little more hot glue you will find your location and place it right on top of the frame that you want. so the little wreath allows you to go around your painting on the front with your phrase, your quote and then just put that ribbon around the top and back and then make sure you hot glue everything in place so that For make it look nice and finished, you don't see the top of the ribbon.
Make it come back through the back and glue it on for this DIY. We're going to use some of these dollar tree cutting mats. There are two in one. pack and friends, I love these cutting mats because they give you rigidity without being unable to shape and move, so these cutting mats are great for making really nice things for home decor if done right. Now I made some galvanized tin buckets with this. A while ago and they were a total success. I was very happy with how they turned out and I have them hanging in my basement, but today what we are going to do is make some of these round metal balls. that is seen a lot in bohemian farmhouse decor, I even see it in farmhouse decor, with a more modern twist, I just love them, I think they are great and I found that these cutting mats are perfect for that, so , what are we What we're going to do is get our first straight line and then we'll continue making lines that go all the way around.
Now I'm doing about a little more than half of it. an inch neither too much nor too wide you don't want it to be too wide so let's say half an inch and you can play with that with whatever thickness you want but once I have one cut I'm just going to use it as a template to make the rest and you can see here that I'm just making a bunch of lines using a Sharpie marker because that doesn't matter, we're going to paint this black in In the end, now you're going to go ahead and take your scissors and you're going to cut them all off so you have a bunch of strips and once you have all the strips I decided to switch to this purple mat. so you can see it better just because I have a white table and then you're going to go ahead and start playing around with the thickness and the size of the ball that you would like once you determine the thickness that you want.
Go ahead and start using your stapler to go ahead and staple it all together. This is the interesting part about this is that all you need is basically the cutting mat and a staple and I'm going to make a large bowl and a smaller ball for The cost of 50 cents now, these home decor pieces can cost between 15 and 30 dollars depending on the size and I'm going to make two for 50 cents because I'm not going to use both mats. Using a mat to make a large ball and a small ball, for the larger ball, you can see here that I'm taking two of the strips and I'm going to make sure to staple them on both sides.
You need to make sure everything is okay. Lay it out as smooth and flat as possible because if it's not it will cause bunching, so once you've finished the first circle you'll go ahead and start the second one. I just used it to measure and make sure everything. it was the same size and then you're going to need to create some of these so you can see here that I have three and I'm just positioning them how I want them to be. I'm stapling them in place and will do that. Say that as you get further and further along and keep adding things, it can be a little trickier to staple, but don't be afraid of this project because if you have a problem, just remove the staple.
If it bends a little bit and it doesn't go all the way, then you can keep repositioning it until you get a nice clean hit all the way and it's nice and in place, so you can see here I had a little problem with that and I was just playing with it until I understood the movement and then it's funny because the first one I did took a little bit longer, but the second one I felt like I had learned what I was doing and I was actually playing the smaller one, it was a lot easier for me. me to do it, so once you have those three crossed circles on the sphere, now you're going to take a long one and you're going to go. around the middle part just like I'm doing here to connect everything and at this point it's ready to take it outside.
You can spray paint it any color you want. You can make it silver and give it a galvanized look, but I decided to go for it. I went with black because like I said, I love that modern farmhouse style. For this particular project, now, for the smaller ones, I'm going to take those original existing strips and actually cut them in half so that they're now more. about a quarter inch thick and I'm going to add my circles. We are going to repeat exactly the same process. Now you can put as many circular loops as you want to create your circle.
I decided to do this one. four because I thought it would look really nice since it's smaller and I wanted to have more detail, but once you've basically placed them everywhere and stapled them, you'll take the outside strip just like we did. on the big one and we're going to staple it into place, so make sure you take your time to make it look as straight as possible. Get the staple in where you can and then just tighten it and when you're done. Take them outside and spray paint them and you can display them in your home.
They are super cute. Let's grab these painter sticks that I bought at Home Depot. They have 10 in a pack. I think they cost about a dollar fifty for it. packet, I took two of them, two of those packets and then one of these dollar tree wooden hearts, you're going to open up those painter's sticks and you're going to put 13 of them together just like I'm doing. here and this is because we want to create a large enough surface area that our heart can be placed on them to create a really nice farmhouse Valentine's Day sign once you have 13 in a row and you like how they look.
If you're spacing it to have that shiplap filler, then you'll take more painter's sticks, break them to fit the length you have, and reposition them with whatever spacing you like and hot glue them into place. once you have them all glued in place, you will then flip it over to the other side and add a little more to give it a sturdier support so it doesn't break. I like to make sure things are really strong every time I use them, so you'll see that I put them on both sides and then in a second you'll see that I'm also going to use a staple gun to really make sure everything is strong and in place and won't break if you ever drop it.
Now I get asked all the time about my staple gun. I'll link it below. I bought it on Amazon. I love this it's great for your craft room if you just want to be able to staple something really quick and I'll also attach the staples that come with different sizes and how do I get the correct staple size I just hold it up to the actual product just to make suremake it the right size, then I'm going to take some white paint and some water in a cup and just whiten my nice background for this project.
I think it has a really cool effect. It feels layered, so I'm going to go back again with that black and brown wood stain I made earlier to show you everything you can create with paint and then you'll go over the whole thing with your heart's content. Now you'll see that when I was picking it up it actually had a thumb painted white, you can see it right there, sometimes that happens when you touch things and okay, we'll cover it with a bow in a few seconds here in this project, but go ahead and review the whole heart with that wood stain that we created and then once you have all the sides covered and the top covered, you're going to let it sit on the side and let it dry for a few moments.
Now I wanted to give it more of a beach weathered wood look, so I'm going to grab some light gray. This was a clay gray that I bought at Walmart and then you just go. to dry it lightly with a brush just to wear it down a little more and create a more beachy feel, you can paint this wood any color you want, if you want to go really traditional you can do it pink and red, it's up to you. As an artist, to be able to play with colors, a couple of people have told me why there is so much farmhouse look in my projects and it's actually what's trendy right now, but I have other projects in the future that don't go to work.
To be so farmhouse, to hold our heart in the middle, then you're going to take another one of these painter's sticks, staple it with some hot glue as well, and then fix your heart. on it and I want to make sure that this actually fits right so first I'm going to put some hot glue on and this heart is going to cover those seams where we put those painter's sticks together and then you're going to take your staple gun and you're going to staple it on the sides where the arch will cover them, so I'm using three staples, one in the center where the middle part is and two on the other side and then this arch will go directly over it so you don't even see those staples anymore and it has a very nice finish. clean.
Now that so many people are asking me where the video of the upcoming arc is, I promise. I'll post it, I think it's February 10th, it's Monday, so stay tuned, it's coming now if you didn't know. I also have another channel called Heidi Sample Home on that channel. I take a lot of the DIYs from this channel. and I use them to decorate my house during different seasons. I have a lot of fun things on that channel for the fall and Christmas season where I'm going to decorate my house and there will be a lot of fun things. to watch new episodes and new series so come and click the subscribe button there too for this DIY.
I'm going to use a plunger, these two cute boxes they have in the craft section at the dollar tree and then some leftovers. long painter's sticks that I cut to size that were left over from a previous project, we're going to take some wood glue and some hot glue and we're going to put it on one of the sides of these boxes and then we're just going to put them together because we're going to create a super cute summer tray that is very farm inspired and it's super easy because they already have these boxes at the dollar tree and they have so many that have different things on the sides like they were cut now I'm going to use these long painter's sticks to create the handle right at the starting point.
I'm just going to center it right in the middle of the box adding a little bit of hot glue and a little bit of wood glue again how I like it. that long term short term hold so that it's really built nicely and then we'll put it right in the center just like I did with the other one and then we can go ahead and create the cross bar at the top which is where our plunger comes in handy, we'll cut the screwed end that's etched into the wood and then we'll cut the other side to get the right size and then we'll use some sandpaper to sand it now.
I'm using my drill to pre-drill a hole so I don't splinter the wood of my handles for my painter's sticks because that can happen when driving in the screws and then I'll use my staple gun to go in and just make sure to secure the bottom a little bit. better because I like things to have a nice strong hold. Our next step now is to take some water, some brown paint, and some black paint and mix them together to create a wood stain. Now I know I could use regular wood stain for this, but I like using it much better because I can wash it off my hands so easily and I don't even have to wear gloves, but over the summer I've really been digging into darker wood.
Just think this is so pretty for summer. Now you can stop at this point or you can distress it and continue a little bit more, as you know I like to do it here on my channel, so once it was all dry and nice and dark, I went in with some white paint and we just distressed the sides. Now let's grab some painter's sticks and move on to the next DIY. I'm using three packs of the smallest painter's sticks you can. Buy it at your home improvement store and each one has 10 inside. We won't need all of them, but we're going to be close to using them all, so first what we're going to do is Lay out our painter's poles the length of a real painter's pole and you'll want to make sure that you have them all facing the same direction so that we can cover those little handles where you can see them splitting, we don't.
I want that to show because what we're doing now is we're going to create almost we're going to call it a barn door, that's what we're going to do with a really nice barn door and we're going to make two sides just like you saw me do there and now we're going to glue them in the middle so we're going to take a lot of hot glue at this point and we're just going to give it a good coat and then we're going to take another painter's stick and we're going to put it right on top of it to make sure that it has a good support system in the middle so that don't have any problems, once it's dry you can go ahead and turn it over and you can see I put a popsicle stick underneath, I said popsicle stick, painter's stick, I use a lot of wooden sticks here on my channel as soon as I do that, but you can see I put one underneath to create a little bit of support. system underneath so it could lay flat and then on the front like you saw there, I put two at an angle to create a zigzag look and now I'm going to use my staple gun and I'm just going to staple the back anywhere there's a point connection, that way it's really strong and sturdy at this point, it should be all strong with the staples and the hot glue and you can go ahead and add whatever color you want, you can make it red, which could be really pretty where it has that nice barn door appearance.
I'm going to choose white because well I like white and I think everyone knows that so I'll add a nice coat of white paint and I'll go in a little bit later and distress it, I forgot to film that part but basically paint it the color whatever you want now at this point I'm going to use this tape. I picked up this very thick ribbon after all the Christmas sales were on. At the end of Christmas last year, I highly recommend that when Christmas is over you go to your craft stores and purchase this ribbon. You can get tons of them for very little money.
I think I ended up spending like three dollars on this huge roll of this beautiful burlap type ribbon and then I took two very long strands and now I'm going to take some eucalyptus. I also picked this up right now, while they have all their spring flowers, they're basically giving it away. I ended up buying it, I think. It was like a dollar 30 for this eucalyptus stem and originally it was almost 13. I couldn't believe how cheap I was getting them so now is a good time to go see the flowers and then came this really cute cotton stem.
Dollar Tree Friends, This is a new product carried by the Dollar Tree. I love them, I love these things so much, I've bought a ton of them so you'll see them here a lot, run to your stores and see if you can find them. because they are very pretty and high quality and then I just took the two ribbons that I put underneath, made a simple loop on top, didn't even knot it, just rolled it up and then pulled them down. and I glued things in place and now I'm playing with it adding a little more eucalyptus, maybe another cotton stem, maybe some of the little greenery that comes out of the eucalyptus and playing with it until I'm happy with the look, then at the end go ahead and cut out the ribbon and display our supplies.
They're really simple, two dollar tree boards and then you'll need two packages with a little bit more left over, so 23 of these painter sticks you can get. your home improvement store and we're going to make a really cute box that you can write on the front to personalize whatever you have stored inside and it's going to be really easy to use. using this little portable miter box that I use all the time here on my channel and my little hacksaw, so what I'm doing now is creating a mitered edge frame around my board. Now you can always do straight lines, but I really love the idea of pushing my creativity, as I talk about a lot on my channel here, where I want to miter the edges to give it that more custom high-end look, so first I'm going to have two longer ones with mitered corners. and now I'm just measuring the sides that I need for two smaller ones for the smaller side of the board, so once you've cut them all out, you're going to add a little bit of glue, hot glue, or wood glue, whatever you prefer.
I'm just using hot glue because I'm going to put it back on the back once I'm done stapling everything together with a little bit of hot glue and a little bit of wood glue at that point and that will really secure it and strengthen it so that in At this point you can see that I've glued the entire frame and I've glued my board and now I'm deciding what size staple I'm going to need inside my staple gun and then I'm just going to load that inside and then start stapling everything that I need. I love using my staple gun.
You see me use it a lot here on my channel because it really helps you create high end DIY looks for next to nothing and it's amazing when you go to home decor stores and you'll see that the supplies they use are basically what I'm using. Here in this video you can do so many cool things using a staple gun and a miter box, so here I am, I just stapled them all together. it's nice and strong at this point and then in just a second we're going to go ahead and start adding the box itself, so at this point just make sure you line everything up because you want to make sure your lines are nice. and as straight as possible otherwise you can make something look a little crooked and then things won't line up as well so here I am just adding the last piece of my frame for my other board and technically just You could make a chalkboard on one side if you want, but I love how it looks to have the chalkboard on both sides and I thought it would be so cute to be able to write whatever you want on it that the materials you have inside.
You could use it in a pantry. You could use it in a closet. You can even place it as decoration. I just think they're so cute and stinky, so once you get them both stapled together and they're nice and strong. You're going to go ahead and lay out your sticks, your painter's sticks, deciding what length you want and how much space you want at the bottom. I went ahead and let's count seven. It had seven at the bottom. I had to think there for a second seven on the bottom and four on the sides, so I came up with the idea of using 23 of these painter's sticks and each of these packs of painter's sticks that you can get at your home improvement store. home, there are 10 inside a package, so I just finished.
I picked up three, so the total cost to do this was less than five dollars because I didn't use the entire package of those third painter's sticks because I only used three, so here I am, at this point, I'm just lining them up. On the side now I will say the first two shots I took on this. I missed it, but your staple gun will have a little marker line on the side and if you line it up with the wood you will be able to see exactly. where you need to shoot and you'll be able to clean it without it coming out either side and it works perfect so you can see here I'm actually in my groove.
I ended up getting the perfect staple and it was happening every time and I keep checking underneath to make sure it didn't slip and that everything was stable and nice and strong. Now at this point, I'm going to go ahead and turn down and did both. The sides first because I wanted to make sure they weren't a little crooked at the end, those are your starting points so you can make sure everything else is spaced out nicely and then once you go ahead and get them you can staple the rest now . At this point, you've created the cutest box ever and I'm going to grab some wood glue, like I mentioned.
The dollar tree actually has wood glue now in his crafter's corner, which I'm really excited about, so I'm going back in with some wood glue and all the gaps and just making sure it's nice andglued and let it dry once it was dry. I went ahead and took some white paint and I went ahead and painted the whole thing with white paint wherever the wood was, I wanted some of the wood to still show through so I was doing more of a white wash because I thought it would be really nice, but how adorable could it be if you painted it the color you wanted for the room you are going to place it in.
It can look very cute in a little girl's room if you paint it pink or in a boy's room if you paint it blue. There are so many options today that supplies will be. pieces of two-by-four wood that we are going to cut to size the cutting is super simple. I'm using my new saw table. I'm so excited I've finally invested in one of these that I've been saving up for. a while and finally got one and I'm just using straight cuts and a 45 degree angle cut. Now this wood is actually very old wood, that's why I need to sand it very well because it came from the wall between my living room and kitchen, most people would see that wood as trash, but I saw it as a treasure, so I have been saving it and when I realized that I can make cute little houses with it, I definitely knew what I would do. to use and basically these houses are going to cost me virtually nothing other than the cost of the paint and the painter's sticks that we are going to use since this wood came from our house.
Now I had a lot of fun with this part because I love to paint. I have always loved painting. I love to, you know, get my hands dirty and play with whatever medium I'm working with when it comes to painting a project, so for the houses I painted some of them white and then. I'm going to use some more fun colors because this is my coastal week here on my channel and I'm going to add some coral, a very creamy citrusy orange and then a very pretty mustard yellow. I thought these would look so cute together with them distressed, some almost look like a small town next to a seaport on the coast.
I just think there's something so cute about them and it makes me think they're summery, plus the colors match so well when you walk in. in the fall and since I have so much wood from that wall, I'm actually planning on making a ton more of these with different colors throughout the year because I love them so much, I guess now for the roofs I'm going to grab the long painter's sticks because they're a a little thicker than the smaller ones and I'm going to cut them to the right size for my roofs. One tip about these painter sticks, make sure that when you put them on the house that has the spike right in the middle you're going to want to make sure that you overlap the roof of the house on top a little bit and you'll see that towards the end of the video, but you just want to make sure your roof line matches up perfectly at the top, so one side should be a little bit longer than the other side so that they meet nicely at the top of your roof and then as you can see here, I have painted them. all different colors because I thought it was so cute to have this different interest in all these different houses and make them look so unique like you would see them in a small town and then for this particular house, how I cut the wood.
I laid it on its side and then made my cut at a 45 degree angle so the roof line stuck out more like a shingle roof towards the front. I thought it was a nice touch to just change the direction of my cut lines and then I'll just add two pieces here at the top that are the same width for my painter sticks and then I'll move on to the other houses where they'll join together at the top like you. As you can see here, I'm taking one that's a little longer like I mentioned and one that's a little shorter and lining them up perfectly on top.
Now for my glue, I'm using wood glue and hot glue for that short term. long term wait, I really like the idea of doing both just because it really allows you to have a good quality finished project compared to the time, if you were to drop them they might just come off with hot glue so I really like to use a bit of wood glue every time I work with glue, now the crazy thing is that all of this came from my walls. I'm basically spending pennies to make them and people charge a lot now I'm going to take some tongue depressor sticks from the dollar tree and cut them down to size to create some really lovely doors.
This really seemed like the perfect size for these little houses. I love the width of them, so I'm just going to cut them at all different angles and then I'm going to grab some drywall nails. I found these were the closest thing to a chimney I could get because the top of the head was a little wider because it's for drywall and I just went ahead and added a couple nails in each one, some of them just got one and it was to create a fireplace look for them. I think this was such a cute detail and again pennies to make these.
I've been seeing these on etsy and people are selling them as a set of three houses for so much money, friends again, you can tell the wood was free, the painter sticks are a dollar for three of them, paint, probably already you have them ice cream sticks. tongue depressors again, you probably already have them, these things cost pennies and when I see them selling for 40 50 dollars, I feel like guys save your money unless you don't want to make them and it's easier. to buy them, so I support your decision, but I just want everyone to see that taking something like scrap wood can really have such a big impact now here in my homes.
I'm going to add some windows. My husband was making fun. of this particular house, he says that the people on the second and third floors don't have windows, which made me laugh, but I personally like that they are spread out so that each house can have fun and create windows that they like. supplies we are going to use for our diy today two dollar tree cubes and some vinyl scraps. Now this idea came to me from Julie's story. She sent me some inspiration that she really wanted to see turned into a dollar craft. tree, so what we're going to do is take those cubes and spray paint the inside dark gray and then paint the outside a light tan color and now at this point we're going to start bringing in that distressing wood texture, so we're going to dry brush two different shades of a light tan and then we'll also do some galvanized distress on the inside.
Now I want to tell all my friends who don't own cricket yet, I don't want you to feel like you're going to miss out on this craft, so what we're going to do is there's going to be a printable under the stacks. animals so you can always cut them out and trace them or modify them so you have some options to be able to play with them, but I highly recommend that if you can ever save up for one, having a cricut is so much fun because I can do so many cool things with it, so with that being said, let's go back to our cubes and our projects so you can see here, at this point I'm now adding a little bit of lighter galvanized shading and I'm just touching it and then At this point, I'm going to take a small brush and I'm going to go through over the edge just to clean it.
Now here I'm using my cow, my pig and my rooster, and I'm stacking them on top of each other and I'll do it. I say the transfer tape at this point can be a little tricky because the plastic of the trash can when you spray paint and paint over it is not completely sealed to that plastic yet and it could just be because I was being impatient and not letting it dry completely, but I will say that using the transfer tape was a little tricky on this part using my cutouts, but again being able to cut this out on the cricut was pretty awesome because I was able to go really fast and I ended up finding these little animals on your site online, so on one side you can see I have my cow, my chicken and my rooster and then on the other side I have my star and you can see as I'm walking away.
That transfer tape raised it a little bit, but it wasn't a cause for concern because I just went back and touched up that spot where I had a problem and then for my cards, for my farm cards, I'm going to go ahead and just take them off and stick them in place. which I want just because they are so big and bulky, I thought they would transfer pretty easily. I definitely like to use transfer tape when using the cricut just because it allows me to. being able to put small things in without having to reposition things as they should be, but these larger things are really great to be able to lift without the transfer tape and still get the benefit of using the cutouts.
At this point, now I'm going to take a very small brush and I'm just going to go around the cube like in our inspiration cubes that we saw where there's this overlap and I'm just going to make a nice thin line a little bit messy because I like that look and I'm going to go around completely. You could be more meticulous with this if you want, but I really ended up loving how it was a little thicker. and thinner lines here and there as I went along now at this point we need to figure out how to make some handles for our buckets just like in inspiration so I'm taking these garden stakes and a lot of dollar trees still have some of these giving just because everything that happened when the stores were closed, I realized that there are still a lot of spring things, so I'm going to cut them down to size.
I need four of them and you can see. here I'm using my pliers to measure the sides so they're all the same folded length and then once I have the sides folded I'm going to make sure they're angled just a little bit, not too much because I wanted it to be exactly the same look like the inspiration, so I'm folding them and then at this point I'm going to take a pencil and mark where I'm going. to drill some holes that way so I don't have to struggle trying to cut the plastic with a craft knife or something and now I'm just going to drill it and use my drill going back and forth a little bit to widen the hole so that the handle can fit in there nice and neat, then once you've drilled those holes, go ahead and slide the handle in and then I'm going to bend the metal back now.
I will say that these pieces of wire are pretty strong so make sure you have a good pair of pliers and once you have it bent back you can hold it in place and it won't bend. move at all, they are strong and sturdy handles and now I'm going to take some mod podge and seal the whole cube so that way everything stays there nice and sealed, without having any problem if it gets scratched, the mod podge is going to do It's really strong and has a beautiful finish. First I'm going to grab these really adorable mini candle holders.
I think that's what they are. I'm going to link the product below this little bird house again. I'll link it down. underneath where I can and then these popsicle sticks that I picked up from the dollar tree, I start by cutting any ribbon that might be on the top of these mini birdhouses. I love this one because it had a little heart on it and then I'm going to take a little bit of e6000 and I'm going to put it on two sides of this little mini candle holder and then I'm going to take a little bit of hot glue on the other two sides, this is to make sure that it really it stays in place well over time and doesn't break very easily the hot glue dries much faster than the e6000 so it stays in place and when the e6000 dries then it actually stays in place very well and then i'll take some white paint and you can do this with any color for valentine's day you can do a pink or a red it's up to you but I'm going to go with white because I love the look of white in my house and once I have it all painted, then I'm going to grab these popsicle sticks.
I think you can do so many amazing things with popsicle sticks. I really love how they look in craft projects because they give you that wooden element and you can get it for such an affordable price. Go ahead and cut. Size them down and then just line them up so you know what size you need on the other ones and then with some scissors just cut those pieces out and then I'll create some wood shingles on top of this little bird house and it really elevates the look compared to just be a traditional birdhouse that you would see in a craft store.
I love doing this with these little houses because you can really personalize them and make them look so cute and special for your home decor once. You've got one side done, you're going to go ahead and just do the other side too, once again, trace out the pieces you need, cut off the ends, cutting them makes me laugh because these things are flying everywhere, so be careful. Keep in mind that when you're doing this project, you can cut them like a towel or cloth so they don't fly everywhere and then once you have them all glued in place, finish the top of the line. of the roof, you will take two more thin pieces, cut them to size and place them on the opposite side to create a really nice finished top of your roof,When you have them glued in place and they look nice and finished, you can move on to leaving the wood raw or you could paint it or stain it or whatever.
Now look how nice and finished. On the top you just put some hot glue and then place two of them attached to each other in the opposite direction. Once you have them all in place, I grabbed some black and brown paint. I used most of the brown paint. a small dot of black just to darken it a little and give it more of a farmhouse stain finish instead of just being brown. I like to add just a little bit of a little black dot and then I'm using a little bit of water to convert it. It's like a bleach type of dye, so instead of having to go out and buy an actual dye, this is my best way to do it and many of you have given me a lot of great tips on how to create a dye. look with paint, this is my favorite way to do it because it's super cheap and cost effective and then I just take a small brush and go over all the popsicle sticks making sure I don't miss a single spot, look how pretty. it's when you use the mixed black and brown combo together it looks so cute these are the supplies we're going to use a pack of long barbecue skewer sticks and two dollar tree grass hula skirts we're going to take three foam squares from the dollar tree and glue them too.
This will become our support system so we can hold our long skewer sticks and what I'm going to do here is create a cutting line. where I know I want them all to be the same height and then I'm going to use pliers to cut them apart and we're going to need quite a few of these, I'm not going to give the exact number because I want you to be able to make whatever size you want, you can make it very big or very small , it depends on the size you want and the possibilities of these baskets are endless, so you can see here that I'm using a skewer stick and I'm taking out two because I'm cutting them to the right size and then what I did was I put my two longest ones on one side and then I'm filling them in to have two lengths to one side, they're kind of slanted, two in the middle and then there's four between each of those joins and then as you see from the top view, it creates an oval shape like that way we can create an envelope type basket. now we're going to take our hula skirt and you can see I'm just sliding these little long knotted pieces of raffia or I guess the hula skirt is grass and they mean we need six of them so I just take them and unwrap them and then I'm going to lay them all out nice and flat so I can get six together because every time you have six you can weave them onto our skewer sticks, so right now to get started.
I twisted it really tight just to make sure I had a good knot to start with. I'm going to knot it around one of the points and then once I have it there, I'm going to go ahead and start doing it. in and out in and out in and out all the way around the skewer sticks come up on the top is the easiest way to do it. I like to keep my finger on the bottom while I try to weave back and forth. That way things don't come off at first, it's a little tricky to get started just because the skewer sticks aren't glued together, you don't want to glue them together because when we're done we're going to take them out. and I'm going to show you that step on how to finish the bottom side of your basket, but now we're just doing the weaving part so you can see here I'm going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. forward and as you go you'll start to notice that there will be a pattern that you'll want to be on one side of the stick and then on the next side as you go around the second loop when you get all the way there. around the runway, so at the end of your raffia, your long grass skirt, I guess you want to make sure you're always tying on the next section so you can see here that I took the end that I was weaving. with and then I took six more and just tied an overhand knot, made sure it was nice and tight enough, not too tight, you don't want a really very obvious knot, but tight enough to keep it in place and then I cut the extra. and then as you're weaving it, those knots will naturally fall on the inside when you're weaving it, just make sure you secure it towards the inside of the basket so you don't see the knots on the outside and I. keep playing with this, this project was a lot of fun and surprisingly it only took me, probably about 40 minutes to do this, it really wasn't bad at all, in fact I had something I was watching on the Hallmark channel since then.
Hallmark is making all of their Christmas movies right now, so I thought, Oh, I'll just watch a movie while I do this and it was so quick and I was so impressed that I was able to make a basket just out of hula skirts and shish. kebab sticks, not just kebabs, I always want to call them that, everyone knows that if you have been here for a while, skewer sticks, here I am, I will continue to create this pattern over and over again until it reaches a height that I like and in this point just so you can see the details this is what it looks like it looks exactly like a basket friends you can exactly believe this with a grass skirt and some skewer sticks now at this point you can see I've decided to stop I really like the look at my basket at this point and I'm taking a little bit of hot glue and this is how we're going to finish the top so it looks really nice and polished, we're taking a little bit of hot glue and sticking it under the grass that we've woven and just we will glue everything in place on the sticks, this will make it nice and strong without anything falling off and having problems, and you will notice it.
I did the top before removing the bottom because I want to make sure it's nice and secure and in place. Then, at the bottom, you'll simply remove what you've woven into those sticks. Remove the sticks gently. the foam and then repeat the process on the bottom as well, making sure to glue everything in place so everything fits nice and snug. I didn't go crazy with the glue, I just put a couple little dots in and made sure to push things down. to keep everyone in place and then once everything was secure I could go in and cut the rest of the sticks.
I also forgot to mention that when I walked through that space with the sticks for the last time weaving, I made sure. I tied a knot and then cut off the excess raffia so it was nice and finished and then tucked the knot in and glued it in place now that everything was secured and facing the side we were on. I'm going to work on braiding some of this long raffia grass. I just tied a knot in the top of several pieces and when you were making your basket I used about a skirt and a half of grass to make the basket.
So this here was what was left over. I used about a quarter of the grass skirt scraps so I could create this braided piece that we will use at the bottom and as a handle to hang from our basket. once I braided all the way down, I tied a knot on the other side and now that we're at the bottom of the basket, we're going to close it so you can see here I'm adding hot glue and then I'm using my pliers to pinch it in there so nice and tight. I want it to be nice and secure once I've gone all the way around and glued all of that into place.
Then I was able to continue with my braided rope which I just did what you saw me do and now we're going to glue it around the bottom so it has a really nice finish and this will make it look like you woven it on the bottom with this rope braided here now. I'll give a shout out to my girl Yami from the Latina next door, she was the first person I saw take this raffia skirt from the dollar tree and braid it and make a really cute project. I'll link the video of it. below so everyone can see her project and how she used hers because she definitely deserves a shout out so give her some love and let her know she's linked in that video below.
I will make it easy for all of you to find it. Well at this point I wanted to give it that cute farmhouse look because everyone knows I love it, I'm taking some plaid fabric and I'm just cutting it to the right size and wrapping it over the top. Now at this point, I'm I'm going to take that extra piece of that braid that we used towards the bottom and I'm going to put it in the back. You can look there for a second. I was thinking about maybe adding a darker string to it and then no, I still decided.
To keep this lighter grass raffia, I really like how it turned out and then I just tied another knot where I cut the excess off the bottom and now I'm gluing it to the back with a lot of glue. make sure it's there nice and secure so this hangs somewhere in my house. I think I'm going to hang it on my kitchen island. Chances are you'll see this in home decor very soon. Then once I glued that back and also disguised it with an extra piece of fabric to make it look really polished, I took this round piece of foam that you can get at the dollar tree and put it inside the basket because I wanted to.
To keep it open and nice and plump looking, we'll use the word plump, but I wanted it to look full, so now at this point I'm just grabbing some eucalyptus that I found really cheap during all these sales. I have been having some hydrangeas and then some cotton stems from the dollar tree. Now we can stop here or add something extra that everyone knows I love to do. I'm grabbing one of these little garden labels that were sold in In the spring I took off the back, added a lot of hot glue and put it right on the front of my basket.
Our next project is very easy, very friendly for anyone who is a new crafter. I'm going to use these dollar tree scrapbook books. paper I had on hand and then a lace ribbon, as well as a robot show towards the end, now friends, I know every time I tear up a book here, some of us cringe because I know some of you really love books and they think that books should never be treated this way, but I want to promise you that I would never tear up a book that is meaningful to our family and I like it, but I really love decorating with books, I really think it's so farmhouse chic and I love it the text paper. for years, so if you find it difficult to follow without worry, I totally understand.
I won't be offended if you don't like this one, but for anyone who likes to decorate with books or can find books that have really pretty covers, you can also avoid having to take them off, but I really love that that raw book looks like it's books very old ones that you found that were abandoned in an old house, I guess not I don't know, I'm just taking these books, I'm roughing the edges, I'm taking some scrapbook paper, cutting it up, I'm choosing specific colors that I know I am going to decorate in the next few weeks in my house.
I'm getting ready to change my decor again. I always love changing my things almost like it's a store you can walk into and things are always changing, so I go with a lot of greens and yellows and just neutral type. summary of colors and I'm going to stack them a little crooked. I love the idea of them being crooked, like they were just dropped on a table somewhere and that's how they landed, so you can see here I'm just tentatively. up all the sides, all the edges and I'm playing with how I want them to turn out and then as soon as I get them where I want them, I'm going to glue them on and then do the next thing. one move it a little do the next one move it a little now I will say I wanted to make sure I could lift them up too so I made sure one side was as flat as possible but still The books were a little crooked and were shifting around of the two books at the ends.
I made sure they were flat at the same distance or at the same height on one side so I could lift them up. So as you can see here, I'm adding a little bit of lace and some rope. The rope when I went all the way around it I realized that was causing it to be a little slanted so I decided to cut it. I'm fraying it and gluing it in place so it's nice and flat when I lay it on its side and then at the top I'm just going to take a little bit of rope, fold it in half, as you can see here, I'm going to tie a knot simple and then I'm going to cut off the extra, but before I tighten it too much, I was adding a lot of hot glue in the middle like that so it stays nice and tight and it's a really good secure knot because this loop of this rope can sometimes be drop and like I said This will be a decoration piece that I will use forever and ever, once everything was glued and tight I cut the bottom off and then I'll just add it right on top of my books and at that point I can decorate it somewhere place in my house for our next DIY.
We're going to use this ladder shaft or ladder bar. I don't know, I always call things so crazy here on my channel and these wooden rounds that you can get. The dollar tree, this DIY will be so easy and so quick that when you see how quickly I make these candle stems,You'll think why stores charge 30-40 dollars for these, so here I am. I'm going to take this and cut it in two places because we're going to make two really beautiful farmhouse candle stems. All you need to do is cut them to the desired length you want and then you will take a drill and pre-drill holes on both sides, this will allow you to ensure that the wood does not splinter and will also do so. help you guide the screw more easily so your candlesticks don't end up twisted or twisted because we really don't want that when it comes to candles, I would also recommend that candles that don't light use the battery.
The lit LED candles are really pretty on these two, if you don't feel comfortable lighting an open flame on them, that's totally understandable. They are so cute on the mantel, so now at this point I'm going to pre-drill holes as well. the wood is rounded off the dollar tree and then I'm going to go in with a larger drill and make a countersunk hole. I'm not going to go all the way through, I'm just going over the top and then I'm moving my drill a little bit to create a larger opening and this will allow the screw to sink in there that way you won't see the screw sticking out and it won't scratch your table and It will have a nice finished look once you've finished everything, go ahead and grab your screw.
I'm going to use a really nice long screw because I want to make sure these are really secure and strong. I'm going to go ahead and start drilling through the round first, then you'll see here. I'm going to take the bottom and just line up that pre-drilled hole that you saw earlier. I'm going to hold my hand back so it's not in place of hurting itself and then I'm going to go ahead and just drill it all together. It's very easy to make friends and each candle stem cost me, I'm going to say 250 250 to make. because each round cost a dollar and then the stem, the rail stem or the axle cost a dollar at my local refurbished store, so what you're going to do is go ahead and just screw on all the other caps and On the bottom I'm using a wooden round on the top and bottom because I thought this looks really thick and really pretty and now I'm going to take some white paint and add a little bit to it which I really like. the color tone of the wood that was on the dollar tree wood rounds and I'm just going to add a little bit of paint around it without covering everything and then because the shaft itself was already a nice off-white color.
I'm just going to go in and add some white paint to make it look like you know, a weathered farmhouse and that's it, you're ready to add your candles and display the supplies for this DIY, it's going to be four. of these dollar tree jars, which I love buying them there, I think these jars are so cute. Some fabric, I'm going to use a black and white buffalo check and then some flowers. Now some flowers have been on my mind. I think it's just because they are so happy and I need that sunshine in my life right now, well I'm still trying to be really good at staying home and sheltering in place during all of this so now I'm going to take some core of foam after I've spray painted my jars white, I'm going to insert them and I'm going to take this fabric and I'm going to cut four strips just like you see me doing here and I'm going to use that to tie the necks of these jars now friends, I'm doing this project today because I want you to know that sometimes craft projects can be really overwhelming, too big, too big, too complicated, too crazy, right, but I also want you to not be discouraged if you are a new crafter I want you to try crafting I want you to try to make things that are just cute to make your house a home, so here I am, I just spray painted these jars white and now I'm taking some fabric and just wrapping them up. and I will tell you that they sell these jars in home decor stores for way too much money.
I made this whole setup that you'll see here at the end for maybe around 5.50 and it's more likely to sell this way. Like 30 40 dollars, so here I am, I painted them, I tied these little scarves, I would say maybe around the neck of these jars and then I'm going to insert some foam and then I found this new flower on the dollar tree. I was so in love with these, they are so pretty, there are other colors too, they definitely have them in other colors, I think there is a very pretty mauve color, a blue color, maybe a purple color, I can't remember if you continue.
On the Dollar Tree website you can see all the different colors they have, but I love them, they almost look like a wide open rose or a peony. I think they're really pretty, so I'm just adding them and then adding a sunflower because I just want that little touch of sunflower in there, I'm adding some of these pretty berries and then at this point, you know, I'm just playing with it, having fun adding more things that I also decided to add. on a cotton stem, I don't think they had them last year on the dollar tree, but it's a very long stem and they are so cute that I decided I wanted two of my jars to have these, so I'm just going to put them right up and then at this point you can display them however you want throughout your home, but remember that tray, I'm going to use them on this tray to corral them because I think they're really cute to put on. on a table somewhere in my house or in the entryway, I just love how they all look together so I hope you try these DIYs today because they are so fun and these particular ones that I made today are really easy to follow and I hope.
Give crafting a try because it's meant to help us relax and just make something we're proud to bring into our home. These are the supplies we will be using today, long wooden stakes and some shelf supports I chose. from your local home improvement store start by cutting them down and taking two of those long stakes and cutting off the ends these will be the pieces of wood that go through the entire fence making it look like and then the additional ones that we have inside the package we will space them out all making sure they're nice and straight and level as best we can and then we'll take a little bit of wood glue and put them on first and then a little bit of hot glue for a short term and long term hold, make sure everything is in position and then go ahead and hammer everything in with a nail that has a nice wide head on top, make sure that if you use a smaller nail, you don't want the nail head to be small because when you do it over time, if it falls out or moves, those nail heads maybe slip or break, so I like to use a nice wide nail head.
We're going to make two on each of those joints this way, it's super sturdy and super strong and this whole project cost me about 8.50 which is really fun, now we're going to grab another stick and we're going to measure. We lower it down the inside of those outside stakes, we want it to be short enough to fit right between those two end points because that's going to become the foothold at the bottom of this fence, so I cut it off first. line and then I also cut four more pieces that were all the same size. These are the feet we need to be able to make him stand up nice and strong without him falling or having problems having to tilt him. in your house or something, so what I'm doing is I'm adding again some wood glue, adding some hot glue and then I go in with my staple gun and make sure I staple it in certain places so that it's nice and comfortable there and when you're done it should look like a giant letter.
Now at this point I can go ahead and place the support and fence. In fact, my son held them for me so I don't have any problem with it falling over and then I'll go ahead and screw in my screws so it's nice and tight, as you can see here it stands up without any problems and it's super sturdy , friends. I got really excited about how sturdy this thing was. I saw it in my head. I expected it to be nice, strong and secure, and it actually was. Now at this point I can go ahead and paint.
You're going to see my The family walks around a lot and you'll also see from this angle my giant cup of water that I always keep next to them when I'm doing crafts. I love the water. These are the supplies we will use. Our DIY today all come from the dollar tree except my alligator tool and the free printable that I'm linking below in the description box. I love this tool, it is one of my favorites, you can see it here on the frisbee. I'm making three holes that will be evenly spaced and we'll use them to be able to put the chain on it and hang it up so make sure your holes are in the right place once you have them all drilled put the chains on it and hold it up to make sure it's right balanced and do not hang one way more than the other.
You will know if this is the case and then move one of the holes a little. So you're going to take that free printable and you're just going to cut it out as close to the line as you can and then you're going to hot glue it onto a piece of foam core board and once you've got it stuck there nice and tight, you're going to grab your knife. exact and you just trace and cut around it to get it out so you can have that nice, clean circle, then you're going to take it and make a second one, you're going to put it on that piece of foam core to the side and then you're going to trace it and you're going to cut that as well and then you're going to take two long tongue depressor sticks that you can get at the dollar tree.
They are thicker than a normal popsicle stick and you are going to cut it in half, place one on top of the other and again with this alligator tool you are going to drill a hole. Is this the coolest tool ever? go through popsicle sticks, things like this that are thinner wood, which I love, then you'll glue the two pieces together and do it twice to have those four pieces that become two pieces and then you'll glue them onto your circle, so you will glue them on the back first and glue one on the top and bottom as centered as possible.
You want them to be nice and straight. and centered and then you're going to take some more hot glue and glue on the face plate of the scale so go ahead and make sure it's as centered as possible, line it up and then I ended up using some clips or no clips. the ones that you can clip on to make sure you add a little extra pressure to make sure it's nice and stuck so I took my frisbee at this point and I spray painted it on the outside so it was a nice neutral black color and then I'm just going I'm going to take my chain and I'm going to hook it on the bottom popsicle stick or the tongue depressor and tighten the hook in place and then I'm going to take another chain that I had left over from another project, I have them all the time because I always use these chains from these planner hanging hooks and I'm just going to break one of the chains so it's a little bit less and again, all of these supplies come from the dollar tree, so Then you're just going to hook another chain and hook it on top and then you can see here that I have this cute wooden stick yard sign.
I'm going to break a piece. I liked this stick because the end had a point so I thought this would be really cute for our little meter on our scale and I'm just going to paint it black, glue it in place and place it there. I love how it turned out. It was ridiculously cheap to make and can actually hold quite a bit of weight. Our next DIY is super simple but has a lot of impact when designing and decorating your home. these cute little cubes some greenery some foam and some wooden dowels and we're going to take that foam and we're going to cut it so that it fits nicely inside the bottom of the cube and we're going to make two of these since there are two in a pack, I thought why don't we just make a couple of them.
It will be so nice to design this somewhere in my house for the summer season. Now the idea behind this was that I thought this type of greenery looked like a mini version of a complicated fig and I thought how cute to make tiny complicated fig trees to display somewhere in your house with a farmhouse feel, so here I am, I'm just ripping them out now, this greenery again because of all the crazy sales that are happening right now where people are just trying to clear their shelves to get ready for the new seasons to come.
I ended up buying them for $75, they were originally $13.99. I couldn't even believe how cheap they were. so I bought some of them so I could use them here in my craft room so if you're feeling comfortable I definitely recommend going out and picking some greenery like this because I use them all the time in my crafts so As you can see I ripped all these little stems and then I added a little bit of hot glue and kept them all the same length and wrapped them around the wooden dowel once everything was glued together. I'm going to take some of this pretty plaid ribbon that I have on hand and I'm just going to wrap it around this king of ribbon that I bought at Joanne's, but you can find these kinds of ribbons everywhere. at different craft stores, so I'll just wrap it and then glue it withhot glue it, I'm going to cut it out and then to finish that look, I'm going to add a little bow on top because I think it's really cute and farmhouse style.
Then once I have my bow, I'll go ahead and add some hot glue. The foam square I put inside, move it a little bit and push it down, make sure you're aware of the handle of the cube where you want it to be, otherwise it might end up looking a little funny if you stick it on. wrong and then I'm going to add a little bit of glue to the bottom of my foam square to make sure it stays there nice and snug. Now this next part may be a little tricky, but not really, I just put a bunch of hot glue on some rocks, added more hot glue, dropped more rocks, and then went around those little cracks making sure to spray a lot. hot glue it so everything is stuck there and tight because you want to be able to turn the bucket upside down without getting rocks everywhere so make sure you hot glue everything in place.
They were selling them for about 15, they're not on sale and I know we can make them for pennies, pennies, super cheap, super affordable and the look is identical. You're going to go ahead and take a black foam core board, cut it to size. I made a five by seven size and then for the corners I just evened it out on my cutting mat and then corner to corner on the box. Cut a nice line on both top corners of my tag and then to create the hole for your string you're going to take the ruler circle that you saw there and you're just going to cut it out after you've traced it out and then once you've got everything cut out you go to go ahead and paint it now I'm going for that slate look and how I do that with paint is I mix cream with black, it's more of a slate gray color than using white. and black, I feel like it looks a little more faded once the paint is completely dry.
Then I will take my pencil and draw the number for our family members, so I will make the number five. I thought it would be really cute to display it all year round somewhere in my house on a shelf on a table, but I love the way it looks and this is what friends, I know a lot of people have crickets or silhouettes, but there are a lot. People who don't have them yet, I have them in my house and I'm very grateful to have them and I feel very blessed to have them, but I want everyone to see that if you don't have a super fancy cutting machine. using paint and a fine tip brush is all you need because you can get the same look and you know maybe at first you'll feel like you know painting it by hand is a little bit tricky, but the more you practice, the more you keep going. painting and trying better and better you will get it and I keep playing with it until I get the look I want and the other tip is that when you paint white on black sometimes the black can bleed a little so I make sure to go over it a few times to make sure it looks nice and sharp.
I like it when it has that nice crisp white look on the slate gray and then at the end and at the end. I'm just taking my time because it's smaller letters and then the dot. I'm going to rotate my brush and touch a little dot with the end of my brush, so again don't feel intimidated by having to go. Go out and buy machines so you can create this look, you can hand paint them and save yourself even more money, and this really is a super inexpensive project and makes such a nice impact on your decorative shelves.
Now I'm going to take some brown paint and I'm just going to touch up a couple of corners here and there to give it that rustic look, like it's been weathered by the salt air and then to give it that coastal farmhouse look that I love and I know which is also yami's style and music on his channel. I'm going to take some of this nautical rope that I picked up from the dollar tree, slide it out and wrap it around and then I'm going to twist it again and tie a knot at the top and then To continue that nice worn beach feel, I'm just going to fray the ends of the rope.
This rope came from the dollar tree, as well as the other supplies that I'm going to use in this video, but I love this rope because there are three ropes intertwined and when you unscrew it it triples the value of this rope, so it's a really cool robe, You can use it very thick or you can reduce it now I decided to make one more version of these. tags just to show everyone that they have a lot of potential. I think they are so cute to place in your home. I'm going to take a little more white paint and see, I'm not doing any pencil sketches.
I'm just doing this freehand and this just came with time of practicing and practicing and just enjoying painting letters and numbers by hand, so I'm going to take my time and write the word welcome and again feel free to write it in pencil. first and then paint it now a fun tip is to take the greenery that you can get from the dollar tree and glue the ends together and that's how I create a mini dollar tree vine right now there are spring flowers that are just putting out their bunches of flowers, They have these leaves, they have all the colors pink, blue, white, yellow and these leaves are so cute and when you glue their tips together you can create a vine, so I'm just gluing them together to create a little wreath, I'm going to add a bow of lace, this lace is also from the dollar tree and then I'm going to add another one of those ropes to give it that nautical feel but have that farmhouse feel to it which I think does.
A lot of us love it and then I'm going to distress it one more time with that brown paint to give it that rustic, beachy, weathered, saltier look. These are the supplies we will use for our project. A galvanized tin dollar tree bucket. In addition to these wooden beads that they have in their craft section now, when you go to remove the handle, I have noticed that this wire on this cube was actually a very strong, good quality wire, so when you remove it just make sure you don't bend the cube too hard because it can cause a problem with the original holes, but you will want to make sure the end of this handle is as straight as possible, so what I did was actually just cut out the original fold area so that way I have a nice clean line to be able to fish all of these beads, so I'm going to use a medium and a large and keep backtracking. and forward in the two sizes until you reach the end of my wire, this part is really fun and easy to do and I found that I had beads left over which was really cool, so at this point when you're finishing putting them all done, You'll want to make sure you have about an inch at the bottom of the handle because you should be able to put it back into the hub to bend the wires into another tip when you get to the end. and you have that inch, go ahead and just bend those wires at the end, don't bend them all the way up, but just enough to be able to hold the beads in place while you fold everything so you can see here that First I folded it a little bit, I I put it in and then now I'm tightening the rest to make sure everything fits in there.
Then at this point, once the cables are nice and tight, you can go ahead and move on. The next step is to take it outside and give it a good coat of spray paint once everything is nice and dry, go ahead and grab three different shades of brown. I'm using a light, a medium, and a dark, and we're I'm going to use the first one, the lightest one, to cover all the beads and all the cracks throughout the whole thing. It's going to do it on both sides, this is going to create a really nice wood look when I have these three different shades instead of just painting them one color, which is going to make them look like they're not real and they were just painted here I am, I'm using a technique of dry brush for the next color, I'm just brushing lightly I put it on and use a napkin to wipe away anything that's too saturated on my brush and I'm taking my time going over it and applying different tints and shades of brown because this will really do that looks like wood now at this moment.
Well, let's decorate the cube. I think it's so cute. I've seen some of these cubes online with these cute buffalo check, stripes or gingham checks and they are so expensive I couldn't believe it and next thing you know, wait. one second I can use the dollar tree cube. I knew this would be perfect so at this point we're just going to take a nice angled brush and paint black lines and friends you could do this in any color you want I thought it could be really cute to do the exact same DIY but maybe in Christmas red or Christmas green and that could be really pretty too, so here I am, I'm just painting my nice thick lines and once I've gone all the way around the cube, I'm now going to reverse the other direction.
I recommend letting it dry just a little bit at this point, once you've turned it over it was dry enough to go because otherwise you might create some streak lines and that won't look as good, but remember you don't have to make this super perfect. I just give it away freely. If you want to use painter's tape to make it look really clean and crisp, you can totally do that. but I was going to make it look a little more strange or playful. I didn't want the lines to be too sharp because I like the idea of it being, like I said, a little bit weirder, so now on to this. period, I'm going to go ahead and add my gray so that way I can have a really nice buffalo plaid look, so I just go to all the areas that are not connection points and then I realized that there could probably be Made the gray lines first and then added the black.
I probably would have had a lot less to paint, so keep that in mind, whatever colors you're working with, the lightest color is the one that really needs to show up the most. Now let's move on to a different size cube of the dollar tree. I also spray painted this one on the outside. I left the inside where it is galvanized. I thought it would be really cute and I'm going to use a smaller brush. The reason I'm going to do this is because I want to show you how simply changing the brush size can really change the look of a cube again.
I'm going for that cute crooked look because I'm planning on wearing them all summer long into fall and Halloween time, I thought they would be so cute to have a funkier line and again if you want to have a straighter line you can use painter's tape , but I want you to do it. Look how I go quickly over the bucket, what a nice look this can be too and if you have any messes just grab a cloth and wipe it off when you use spray paint as a primer it allows you to clean it up. all right, so once I've gone all the way, now I'm going to change my direction and I'm going to create my lines in the opposite direction.
I really loved doing this. I thought this was very therapeutic and just calming and I had a lot of fun taking my time exploring the trick of painting a line around a circle. You're going to want to keep your pinky in the exact same place that you're going because that's going to give you the nice space that you need as you spin your cube and that's going to keep your line straight so you can see here. I keep using my pinky as I go, I keep sticking it out and tapping it and then as I go further and further, just keep looking at it at this point because I had a really good jump point from the bottom where I tried to keep the line as close as possible. straight as possible and as you keep going up the cube, it gets cuter and cuter as you go.
We could leave it like this or we could add a little more detail, but again, can you imagine if you did this with red, how cute it could be for Christmas or if you decided to do different colors and create a more plaid look? to the cube there are so many cute things you can do with these dollar tree cubes and they only cost a dollar so this is the point where we are going to add some twine around the handles just twist it over and over and Glue it into place to have a nice full handle and your cubes are ready to be displayed.
We'll move on to our next project. I'm so excited to share this one. I love these in my house and have had them. A lot of people ask me about them and where I bought them, so today I'm going to show you how to make one. Today we are going to make a sign that you can hang in the hallway in front of the bathroom. or cook wherever you want it to be, so you'll grab this oval wooden plaque that you can get at the dollar tree. By the way, all of these supplies come from the dollar tree as is normal here on my channel.
You'll remove those staples and that twine on the back and then, using a drill, you'll drill two holes. Once you have drilled both holes, you will go ahead and paint your sign white or whatever color you want. So we're going to take this chain that they also have on the dollar tree and we're going to take it apart, it's in your garden section and we're going to take one of these hanging plant hooks and we're going to take it all apart and make it work so we can hang our cute wooden sign on it, so what I'm doing here is just measuring my chain and how long I want it to be and then I'm just going to undo the hooks, the loops that are there and I'm going to get the desired length that I want and I'm also going to take that hook at the end and reverse it to the other side that's just because I felt like the chain was put on backwards I don't know maybe I'm wrong but that's how I decided to do it I reverse it to the other side so I'm going to make sure both sides are the same length.
You don't want one to be longer than the other because otherwise your side is going to be hanging crooked and then once you have the length you want you're on your own I'm going to wrap it up take that hook that you have that's open stick it in the chain on the other side and then close it and then add those hooks at the end. Now let's put that aside for a second. and we're going to move on to our sign, we're going to go ahead and use those cute letters that you have with the dollar tree and you're going to stick them on right now.
I have decided to do the signature bathroom but again you can put whatever you want laundry room kitchen whatever you want office it could be so nice to do this and again it was super cost effective the one I have that is hanging in my hallway I will link that video down below where I show that sign, that sign cost me 26 dollars, this will only cost me four dollars, so it really is cost effective, so once you have your letters, go ahead and take a little modification and just stamp them. they don't come off because sometimes these leather stickers can peel off and then once the mod podge is dry you're going to open up those hooks on the bottom, feed off your sign, fold them back into place and then do just to make sure To make sure everything is nice and straight and to keep the chains from slipping, I used an e6000 which actually locked them in place.
I recommend screwing to the wall first and then making the e6000 for this project, we're going to make a flashlight and We're going to take these long paint sticks, these painter's stir sticks. I've heard people call them a lot of different things, but they come from your local home improvement stores and we're going to take the long shot and cut eight of these. They will become the side structures for our lantern that we are making and then once you have eight of them, all cut to the size that you need and they should all be the same size, then you are going to go ahead and grab some wooden stakes that I would use in his garden.
I see a lot of people using them in their gardens, but these are wooden stakes that you can also buy at your home improvement store and I'm going to use a combination of wood glue and hot glue for a short term to long term fixation. To make sure they are good and strong bonds together, we are going to have six of those, this will be the base of our lantern. I'm going to leave all the measurements below so I don't make this video too complicated, so if you need the measurements, go to the description box and you'll see them there, but I'm going to go ahead and glue all of those six pieces together. together to create a very nice solid base, now you can do this with the painter's sticks.
I decided to use these wooden stakes because I liked how they were more substantial, thicker, and stronger. I liked how they looked, but again you can use paint. or sticks if you want, so once you've cleaned them up and wiped everything off because you can see I was getting a little bit of that extra glue that squirted out, you're going to go ahead and start gluing the sides, so again I'm using glue to wood with hot glue, long term and short term retention, and then to make it really strong and sturdy, we're going to take our staple gun and we're just going to staple two staples in to make sure it's nice and strong and when we're done with this will be very sturdy and will look very nice on your front porch or wherever in your home you decide to use it so now I'm putting the other side on and just making sure the sides match up and then I'll move on to the next one and continue putting the two corners making sure the sides match each other so it's nice and smooth on the sides and then you can see as I go up, I'm putting little dots of that wood glue and hot glue to make sure the top and the bottom and all the sides They're glued together and then I added two staples to the bottom, so when I turned the corner of my fourth leg, I noticed something started happening with this and I thought I'd mention it too, you'd know, and I noticed it towards the top.
I could see that they were starting to lean up, so when you're going to glue these support pieces together, which I'm doing here, I cut eight of these smaller painter's sticks because I wanted to wrap them around the top. the bottom and the top to create a nice finish and structure. I cut out eight of these, but you can see here that it doesn't go all the way to the edge because I want to show them to you again. in a second I added another piece, but up here when I went to place this piece, you can see it's not completely aligned, so I had to pull it apart and make sure it's not completely aligned. crooked and that only happens with wood, sometimes it just moves towards you, so you'll see here as I staple it I'm going to take it out, you can see what I'm talking about, it wants something like that. it collapses a little bit so make sure you take it out, hot glue it in place so it stays in place while the wood glue dries and then just staple it and then I just turned it over and did it. the other side making sure everything was nice and straight and everything glued and stapled now, like I said before, you saw I had a little bit of space between those tops and I'll show you that in a second.
I'm going to fill them with some very small square pieces of wood that I happen to have in my craft room. You don't have to do this. You could make those painter's sticks that come around the bottom and top exactly the same. long, but I wanted to have a little more detail, so I'll show it to you in a second, but right now, at the top, we're going to grab some more of those wooden stakes and now I'm going to use my miter box. there's a straight cut and then there's a 45 degree angle cut and you can see I'm just going to cut at an angle and I'm going to let this create a mitered edge on the top that will make it look so sleek and pretty.
I love this little cutting tool box. I'll link it below, as well as my staple gun. I get asked about this all the time and then I see here the four pieces, all cut with that little side. angle now, they're all going to miter beautifully and look really high quality, so here I am, I'm adding a little bit more of that wood glue, hot glue, and I'm going to go around and make sure each side is pressed down really well. . so there's not a big gap and then if any glue comes out when you put it together, just wipe it off again so you have a nice clean finish and then once I get to the last side, I'm going to set this up for the side just for a minute while I go back to my actual flashlight and add this piece here, so here's the piece I was talking about.
I had this in my craft and thought it would be really pretty in those eight pieces. which I cut to size to wrap the bottom of the top four, I cut them a little shorter and the other four I cut a little longer so I could put this piece in there, I thought it would look really pretty to add. On this little detail where you have this little corner that pops up and it's going to fit really nicely, I'm adding a little bit more hot glue and a little bit of wood glue once again because I just want to make sure that it's actually built.
Well, I mean this doesn't cost anything right now, seriously, these are just painter's sticks, stir up the sticks and these wooden stakes and see how we can build the coolest things with those. Now I could leave it like this or we could do it a little more. Special, you know how I like to do it here on my channel. I like to go a little further and challenge myself a little more each time, so I'm going to take these long sticks, they're not skewer sticks. I always forget what these are called, leave a comment below, I think the fillets don't, that's not it anyway, these long shish kabob sticks we'll just use that name, but they are the really long sticks and I'm just going to cut them to measure because I want to create some really pretty crisscross work on the inside of this lantern and just add a little bit more of something special to it.
I thought this would be really nice so you're going to need two for each opening in your flashlight and you can see here that I'm just measuring it on the inside of the box first for my first cut and now I'm just going to go back and cut everything down to the right size for that everything fits perfectly inside. of those points, once I've cut enough of them, I'll add a little hot glue to the corners and then angle them. I'm going to go in one direction, make sure you hold on to it. place it so it's nice and that's it, add a little more glue on top so it's nice and stuck in place so it doesn't move on you or lift up and then it's going to go the other direction, the other corners and Let's add a little more hot glue and then just press them down.
Now these won't want to lay flat with the second one, so you'll have to hold it down for a moment while the glue dries, but again, this was super simple to do, once I got all four down, I added a little bit of glue on the top and then I put on my mitered top that we made earlier and at this point it looks so pretty I was so excited. this project and when my family came to check on me to see how I was doing with this project, everyone started saying oh, it's a flashlight, I have this for flashlights.
At first they weren't sure what my husband thought. At first it was a trophy box, which I laughed because with me you never know, so once I gave it a good coat of paint, I'll take some rope from the dollar tree and actually braid it. It would be really nice to have a thick, substantial rope on this. I braided it, put the ends together and just hot glued them together so they were nice and secure and then used a pack of dollar tree rope. I took three long pieces that were the same length and then this was the little piece that was left over.
I just unwrapped it and I'm going to use it to put it all together at the end, those little bits you saw me there separating the rope, so I wrapped it around the top of my flashlight, added a little bit of hot glue to make sure it stays there forever . I don't want it to come off and then I'm going to add a little bit more hot glue right here and that piece of rope that's left over from braiding them. I'm going to wrap it a few times to give it a really nice finish on the top.
I loved how it turned out and then you don't have to do this part. You can leave it out, but everyone knows me. I love the slightly rough edges, especially since I love that coastal look. The materials for this project are very simple and I am very excited to share this. In fact, I woke up one morning with this idea. my head, I swear, I dreamed about it, in fact I dream about a lot of my crafts when I get ideas and I always joke with my husband that he was sent from heaven so what you're going to do is take it all. of three exactly the same dollar tree frames, except the glass, you're going to leave it on one of the frames and you're even going to remove the tabs from all of them except the last one, so you can Let's keep one frame with the little tabs and let's to keep a separate frame with glass.
Now the trick is if you don't want to take the glass out, you're actually going to gently glue it into the corners on the frame, so this is the first one with glass that you can see here and I just put a little bit of hot glue in each little corner and then I'll surround the back of the frame with some e6000 and some hot glue for a long term hold and then I'm going to stack one of the frames, the second one that doesn't have glass and doesn't have any of those little tabs on the back. you're going to hit right on top and you can see here it's nice and straight as best as you can and then you're going to move on to the third one.
Now the crazy thing about this is that we are making a shadow box, these shadow boxes can be so expensive they can cost anywhere from twenty dollars if you use a coupon to thirty or fifty dollars, I mean they are very expensive and today we are making our own for three dollars. I was so excited when I came up with this idea, so now I'm putting the last one in the back and you're going to make sure it's nice and tight, and if you see any excess of that e6000 dripping, go. Go ahead and just clean it up, clean up the sides as best you can, at this point you'll take that original piece and trace it onto a piece of foam cord board so that it fits nicely inside your frame. and then you'll take that foam core board that you cut out and stick it on whatever piece of scrapbook paper you want.
Now I love scrapbooking paper for these types of projects that are true to size because the paper is a little bit larger so this is a 12 by 12 sheet of paper and you're going to cut off any excess that you don't need and then when you turn it over you will have a really nice base to be able to put whatever you want inside your shadow box now I'm going to use this darling photo ofmy sweet girl, I just love her to pieces, I'm going to put a little tag here and then I'm going to take some ballet slippers that go along with the shadow box theme and I'm just going to glue everything in place.
Now I always like to check before I glue to make sure things look like they're in the right place and I'm just going to add a little bit of glue on both sides of the sole of the ballet shoe and just make sure everything is nice and into place and then once it's all done, it will be able to fit perfectly inside that shadow box, so this at this point is so darling and you. I can see here that I took my shadow box outside, put a piece of paper inside and made sure it protected the glass so I could spray paint the frame.
Now I will say that you can always spray paint the entire frame before gluing everything together. so you can even spray paint the inside and I think in hindsight I could have done it differently but these are just the steps I did so be aware of where you spray the paint and make sure to protect the glass when you do it finely. spray paint if you decide to change the color of your frame and then once everything is together it looks so pretty now you can stop here and hang it on the wall or you can take it one step further which I always like to do and since then she is very feminine and this is such a feminine little shadow box.
I'm going to add some masking tape and some twine ribbon to the back and now at this point you can bring the back back and make it look really clean and then I added a nice bow. on top, our next DIY will use this chain. I'm removing it from this dollar tree planner wire hanger piece and you can see I'm removing these two hooks. The interesting thing is that I actually used one. of these chains on the first scale DIY, so these projects today are very cheap because this glass, these two pieces of glass came from the shadow box, those two additional pieces I hung and I'm going to use them to create a beautiful glass art work, these things are so expensive they are sold in pottery barns all the time, just high end companies, very cheap to make, I'm just creating little tabs on the top so I can hang them with some ribbon and I'm going to show you two different options to be able to hang it and then also lift it up, so I'm just taking some e6000 and those little tapes and I'm just putting it all together to make sure that your glasses clean before I put the pressed pieces of your garden inside and then at this point you will see me using duct tape because guys I looked everywhere for my duct tape and couldn't find it, it was very frustrating, I even had my husband helping me.
I looked for the tape and we both couldn't find it, so I'll just show you that you don't need to have electrical tape to get that black look. You can always end up using masking tape and it has a really great holding effect on your glass piece, but you can also use electrical tape because I ended up having to spray paint this to get that black look and I had to put some things on top to protect the glass, but if you have electrical tape on hand, oh, that's even better, so what you're going to do is just cut the pieces, line the edges of the glass and create that metal look around the sides and the cool thing about this is that you can technically use washi tape too, just make sure you add a little bit more, like hot glue, in the corner so that over time things don't curl or curl, but this is the easiest way. project and at this point it's basically free because it came from the shadow box and those two extra pieces of glass.
How cool could this be for a Mother's Day gift or for a special person you love? You know, a birthday gift or a Christmas gift. And you can put whatever you want inside that's a keepsake inside this glass to press it or you can also put it in that shadow box so you can see here I'm just adding the chains on top and this is the final look with it's hanging I love how it looks hanging I think it's really pretty and now I'm going to show you the second idea so you can leave it without the ribbon and the chain and I'm just using some of these stacking dollar tree blocks and I'm going to glue six of them together. together flat and then I'm going to make another six of them where they're standing up and this is going to allow our frame to stand up So you can see I've got three there and I'm going to rotate it and then I'm going to go to the other side and add three more and I'm going to make sure Make sure you have the right size and then once you do that, you can have a really nice stand now you can paint the stand or stain it.
I liked the natural wood look of the stand. I thought it was so pretty. It has a free printable that is linked below in the description box and we. We will also use this ribbon and this bamboo tiki torch. Now let's start cutting that bamboo tiki torch. We want it to not be too long, but still long enough that we can. To hang all of these little printable clocks I've put together for you all, I saw this image on Pinterest where someone had been collecting old clock plaques and I knew right away that I wanted to turn that into a DIY.
I just thought. They look really cute and I loved the idea of them being a collection, so this printable is really easy. You'll just cut everything out and then glue them onto a piece of foam board. I'm sure you probably have something like this in your craft room. I always have tons of random little pieces of foam core board because I'm always cutting things up and using them to assemble things and just make them a little bit thicker, so once you've got everything glued to the foam core, then you're going to grab your craft knife. and you'll just cut them all out, make sure you cut as close to the actual printable as possible so that you have a nice clean look on the edges and the really nice thing about this is that you can hang it all over your house in so many different places.
I think I'm going to hang mine in front of a mirror I have in my living room. I'm going to set that up very soon on my main channel, where I'm going to decorate for summer, so now what we're going to do is make them look aged and distressed. take some of this brown paint and we're going to start dry brushing very lightly and we're going to keep putting more layers on the more distressed we want it to look so you can see here I start very, very, very light and then I'm going to continue adding those layers until it looks the way I want and then I'll clean up the sides so the foam core isn't noticeable and they look like real watch faceplates.
I'm going to take some of this black paint and go around the edge to cover all of that foam core with that black paint and then I'll do that to all of them and I forgot to mention when I was gluing. I wasn't gluing the faces of my watch all the way down to the top where the 1 and 12 are. I left that part a little open because you're going to take some long tapes. Now I have a lace ribbon and a silk ribbon. of these came from the dollar tree and besides the bamboo stick, I forgot to mention that the tiki torch also came from the dollar tree and you're just going to stick your ribbon on and then at this point we're going to start hanging them from our bamboo stick. bamboo, this is the coolest part because you'll be able to play with it and decide what length you want and have fun figuring out where you'd like to be able to hang each clock face. and I made a different mix like I said of the silk and the lace ribbon.
I thought they were so pretty to add that extra texture and it looks so adorable. That's why I say I think I'm going to post this. in front of a mirror because I love how substantial they are and we're basically doing this for just a couple of dollars. This is a very affordable statement piece to have in your home. Now at this point we're going to take some twine and we're going to create a way that we can hang it and I'm just wrapping it around the opposite ends and then this long boxwood garland that I'm just going to cut a couple of pieces that I'm going to join together. that I bought I will link below if you are interested.
I usually buy it at Hobby Lobby but their stores are still closed here where I live so I'm just going to grab a couple of them and I'm tying them up and then I'm going to put them back on with some hot glue and I'm just reinforcing it with hot glue to make sure it fits really nice and tight. Now these are the DIYs that come next here. In this video I wanted to show you all of them together so you can see how you can make such simple DIYs and when you group them together they look fantastic and you'll get that farmhouse feel so the next DIY uses a canvas and just printed out two s, our last name is Sambol so I wanted to print it and what I'm doing here is removing the fabric, I saved most of it and I'll save it later for Another DIY and I ripped off the rest around it and stapled it.
Now I'm going to take that frame, trace it on a piece of foam cord board, and trim it so it's the same size as the back. from that canvas frame now I'm just taking that printable that I made for myself and I'm just going to cut it out and glue it onto the foam cord board. Now this is what I don't have. a printable link below because all it is is just the letter s in upper and lower case. I thought it was a really cute way to represent our family's last name and there's something I don't know, maybe because I've been homeschooling my kids these past few months and I thought this would be so cute, so now I'm just adding a some glue after painting the frame and putting it on and then to cover that foam core on the side that I always love.
I have a finished look, I'm just painting it black. The next DIY is very nice to do and really very simple. I'm just taking these little balls that you can find in the floral section of the dollar tree, this little white cube. which you can get in the wedding section and then a little bit more of that boxwood garland as well as a stick and then you can see here that I'm just gluing that stick together and holding it up with a foam core and then opening a space in the ball and gluing it directly to the stick and then while I'm letting it dry, I'll move on to cutting that boxwood and actually get enough of it to be able to cover the entire ball.
Now it's pretty fun. Courtney from Creative on the Cheap actually made a very similar DIY to this one and it was so fun I saw it pop up on her feed and I had been planning to make this one for a while and we used the exact same mini ball to create these mini topiaries hers has a three tier topiary and it's so cute you should go and check it out there are so many potentials to do with these things and their base is also a little different than mine but I'm going to link their video below because I love complimenting other creators and I thought it was really funny that she and I had this in mind to do this.
I thought it was a cute DIY because a lot of the Sometimes we try to make these really big DIYs and sometimes I just love small, simple things like this little topiary because you can lay it out and group it on shelves and it's so adorable that once you've given it a try full turn and you've filled that little wooden ball to the top, then you're going to take some hot glue and just fill your little bucket with some rocks. I think this is the cutest and easiest DIY anyone could make next. DIY going to use this dollar tree sign.
Now we are not going to use the side that has the shine. I ended up covering the back with some foam core. You'll see it towards the end, but below. I'm going to paint the wooden side that was blank a nice gray color and then I'm going to paint the lines with a dry brush. This is the best thing about this project, it is that it is super easy to do and the result is very beautiful now. You can see here that we want to get that striped look, so like I said, I'm adding some paint very lightly and I'm going back and forth because we're creating a natural buffalo check so you can see where they are. crossing the white is a little bit brighter and then in the in betweens where the lines don't cross it has that lighter color of white and it looks so cool so here I am, I'm at the end of my little sign board and now I'm going to adding this cute darling wreath with some boxwood, I wrapped some rope around it, turned it inside out, added some hot glue and then to give it a nice finish I'm adding some of this burlap. tape on the back to really finish that off and then on the front I'm just going to add a couple of dollar tree stickers.
I love this. This thing cost me almost nothing to make and looks so beautiful in this next DIY. I'm so excited. To show everyone because this is a new product at the Dollar Tree, they are selling these thicker pieces of wood in different shapes, so I'm going to use two of them with a plunger and we'll cut them down to size. Now these stickers are almost impossible to remove so I'm just going to take my sandpaper and sand them down and once I have them done I'm going to take my drill and drill a hole right in the center of the two circles that we have here and then I'm also going to drillthe two ends of the plunger pin so that when you put them together, they'll go in very easily, so here I am, I'm just using these little dollar tree boxes to hold them up and not drill into my desk and then I'll just screw it in tight. instead now I sew I don't know if you all know this but I love to sew I have been sewing since I was very little my mom taught me when I was six years old and I never stopped sewing I loved sewing so much that I continued So one of the things that I've always loved old reels and these are those old reels that you sometimes see on Pinterest and I thought it would be really fun to give everyone a printable if you can find them and track them down. thick pieces of wood on the dollar tree, I thought it would be really cute to turn them into a giant vintage reel that has that collector's feel.
I really love the idea of a country house because every time I went to any type of house that was kind of a country house, I feel like there are a lot of collectibles in those types of houses, just a lot of things to remember the past and I thought it would be cool to do this as a DIY for you all today, so now what I'm doing is I'm cutting out and distressing the labels that I'm making for these reels, as well as the reel itself, and then we'll just modify those labels into the top and bottom to make it look like an old vintage spool, I just think they are very cute and then you can use whatever you want, rope thread, whatever you want to wrap around them, they are very easy to make and you can make each spool for about because you have the two blocks of wood that cost a dollar and then the dowel you can use one for both so I'll say it probably cost like three dollars to make and then you wrap it with whatever ribbon you want so here I am with my tape.
I thought it would be really cute to finish it off by attaching some of my pins from my sewing box and I love how it turned out. You can make so many of these. These could be so cute, all stacked on a shelf. I'm going to use this tote bag that you can get at the dollar tree and this large 11 by 14 frame. This is the easiest DIY to make and it's actually a two part DIY because tomorrow I'm going to show you how to do it. do. Use the extra fabric from the bag to make that really pretty vintage award ribbon that you saw a while ago when I was talking about the video that's going to be posted tomorrow, so what we're going to do is just take that fabric with that really pretty print on it and we're just going to squeeze it really tight around the back of the frame and glue it all in place.
This is the easiest thing to do and then you'll just place it correctly. Go back in and press the tabs down and I love how it looks on this frame, it fits perfectly. Our next DIY will use this galvanized bucket and these flowers that the dollar tree has right now, they are meant for the fall season, but I thought they lent themselves well to summer as well, so I thought they would be so cute paired together. Let's take the handle off this bucket. Now be careful, this handle can be a bit of a beast because the cable is really very. strong, I like to hold those wires because I can use them for other projects, but I'm going to go ahead and remove them.
You can decide to leave the handle on if you want, but I personally wanted to take it off, so here I'm going to take this brown paint and I'm just going to hit it along the edge because we're going to give this bucket a very rusty look. I thought it was really cute for summer decor. Well, going into the fall season, once you have applied the brown paint to all the desired areas that you like, you will take a square piece of dollar tree foam and simply hot glue it on. There and then you can add your flowers.
Now I'm cutting them from the original stem they come on. I never like to put them like this because they look very fake, but when you cut them with wire cutters. and place them there individually like twigs, it looks much more realistic and looks high quality doing it this way so I'm going to fill in as many as I want and then I'm going to take one of these garden sticks I pick up a bunch of these little signs during the spring and I keep them all year round because I love how they look when you put them on cubes or signs or just other things, it's a cute little To finish this DIY, we will use this house sign from the tree crafts section of the dollar and then nine of these stacking blocks, as well as a long, thick skewer, and all together we will create a nice way to display. photographs in your house, so we're going to take that house sign and we're going to drill some holes in the bottom, don't drill all the way through, we just want to make sure that we go deep enough to be able to insert two dowels that we're going to cut exactly from the same size and put a little bit of wood glue on it so it's nice and safe and nice and strong there.
This wood glue is now being taken to the dollar tree, which I was very excited to find. because I love using wood glue because it really makes things nice and strong and then while the wood glue dries and sets, I'll use a little bit of hot glue just to make sure it stays in place and then on those blocks that we'll take all nine of them and we'll use e6000 and hot glue. This will allow them to be joined together and the only reason I didn't use wood glue on this was because these stacking blocks are in half. of them are raw wood and the other half has paint on it so I thought this would be a great way to make sure they don't fall apart since it has that layer of paint on it.
If you're using the raw wood ones, I would recommend using the wood glue instead of the e6000, but go ahead and glue them all in place on a table and then keep wiping off the excess glue because you don't want it to spill and now in this period, let's start working on assembling the top and bottom, take those skewer sticks, line them up to where you want them, use a pencil to create the drill hole line and then you can see here I used a painter's stick to make sure I don't leave. through my table because well that would be a tragedy no one wants to put a hole in their table and once you've run those two drills all the way through the base go ahead and add wood glue and then just use a little bit no you're going to want it to spread everywhere, this glue does a really good job and then you're going to go ahead and take your skewers and stick them in the hole and make sure they're there. nice and comfortable and then once it's dry you can go ahead and move on to painting.
I'm going to use a larger brush and a smaller brush so I can get into all the crevices. I recommend using the smaller brush because it can be a little messy, this house sign has a lot of very small, narrow corners and I think it looks so polished when everything is covered with paint of the same color, so go ahead, at this point you can paint it any color you want, how cute! this is to customize it for your home and the colors you like to decorate with and then I'm going to take some twine, a thinner twine, and I'm going to tie two lines together so it looks like a little clothesline.
I thought this looks. So far, elegant, I don't know why I thought this was so cute, but I love the way it looked, so you're going to put those two together and then to take it a step further, I'm going to wear it. four ties I thought it would be a nice detail to add to these little clotheslines. Add some clothespins and some photos and show it off. I hope you enjoyed this video today. You made it to the end. I'm so grateful you stopped by to see it.
