Gary Shows Us How To Install The Software And Set Up A Repeater On The Wouxun KG-UV9D at ML&S

Mar 15, 2024
Hi, I'm Gary m0 TIG, I'm the Senior Customer Engineer at Martin Lynch and sons and today we're just going to go over a thing or two regarding aspects of our new v9 d. I've had a couple of questions about how to set up a

repeater

on the

software

that works and provides and also how to

install

the drivers and

install

the programming

software

correctly and what the difference is between the two cables, so let's do that. I'm going to cover those two things, the first thing I should talk about is the other two cables. If you have an older version of Windows, something like, for example, pre-Windows 7, then you will need the black cable if you have something, perhaps Windows 7 or later, certainly Windows 8 and later, you will need the red cable and always the we have it in stock, so of course, call the store if you don't have a red one. cable and we will select one of those for you, so anyway this will be solved with a little video.

Today is just going to be quick to cover how to set up the driver and software and how to actually load it. pull up your first

repeater

memory so okay let's start to figure it out okay guys the first thing we're going to do is go now to the shouts and the website. Two ways to do it, you can Google it or if I know the address is: I do www dot W x.com and it's already appeared, we've been there before, okay, there you go, basically it's the works and the website we're going to download instantly and we're going to scroll down here and we're looking, actually I'm going to go here first, this we're going to get the drivers, so we're going to grab the drivers, so the USB driver for the new cable, the USB driver for the old cable, we have already talked about.

More Interesting Facts About,

About that briefly, we're going to get the USB driver for the new cable and we're going to download it, so let me go. I'm going to go to that link, okay, so let's talk about this raw, sorry, raw. extension I've had a couple of people I'm going to drag this from Google Chrome to the desktop now for some unknown reason and this raw extension is actually causing some confusion, it's just a standard zip file, okay, it's none. nothing special, it's not a special Chinese RAR archive or anything like that, it's very basic standard stuff and you need a program called winzip and it's pretty easy to find, just good old Google and just type in sorry WinRAR, you're going to need WinRAR, so just type WinRAR, that's it, when ral free is not downloaded and you want to go to the rile app if you can and get it directly from them, you can see I was already there recently because you need to get it, so it's a pretty simple process: You just have to follow the instructions on our page.

Once it's installed, your zip files will actually look like a stack of books with a strap around them where you're just going to open this and there's your WinRAR file Rylann offers you. You can buy the software if you want. Well, I don't use it often enough to buy it, so there you go, so we just get rid of the ones you file there. and we're just going to take that and drag it to the desktop, okay, it's that simple, okay, and there's your file. If you open it, you will see that inside are all your different files.

I've done it before, so I'm going to get rid of that, you know, get rid of that one, okay, and I'm going to get rid of that one too because, again, I already did it and created a nice folder. it's called UV knowing d+ and when you open it up I've actually been to the whoops website and if you want we'll just go back to that one to cover that WWWE and there it is let's go to downloads okay now what we're looking for here is the programming software, okay, and we have a portable dual band radio, okay, so that's the UV 9 d plus, that's what we're interested in and let's move on. then down we are going to appear here and you will see there is a UV 9 d+ programming software just click on it and the same thing will happen you can say download and it will download fine and it will be in This particular case again it is a raw file , and once the RAL files are unzipped it appears when v9 d+ configures XE, well it's a very simple case of just installing the software, now obviously run some snippets before, but again.
It's very easy, first we will install the drivers and it is very important that you do not connect the cable correctly at this stage if you connect the cable in Windows or it will find its own drivers and probably or possibly even give you a bit of a headache so what what we're going to do is not plug in the cable, ok, I haven't plugged in any cables, there's nothing plugged in, we're just going to run the software. We'll run the USB driver installation first, so we'll open this up and you'll notice that there's actually a 64 and an 86.
The old 86 architecture is basically an Intel chipset or motherboard or whatever. the newer 64-bit architecture, so it's the CPU pipeline, I basically said we're going to use it, in my case it's 64-bit. I'm going to show you how to find out which one you have if If you go down to the Start menu on older machines or operating systems, you may find that there is actually a Start menu there and then you need to go to the tab that says computer and if you click the button right mouse on that computer, then you can actually get the properties of the old computer and it will appear the same, well in my case you just go to this window prompt and you scroll up to the system, there it goes, It's fine and in my case it tells me that I have a 64-bit OS, so I immediately know that I should run the 64-bit one and it will ask if you want to make changes.
The answer is yes, you don't have many options and you just say next and that's it, you're done. You can put the cable in and what it would do is assign it a port, a port number and the software included with the uv9 is actually very, very smart, not bad at all, again, just setting up the UV 9 plus and you duplicate. Click it, you can run it. He asks him to just answer the questions. Yes I agree. Next, are you happy with where you settled? Make shortcuts available to all users, unless of course you know you have a machine you don't want. to share these shortcuts and freeze it very well, I already installed it, so the answer is yes, we say yes and we are done and that's it, it is already installed and now we can run it, so let's see what my cases are.
I already included it pretty high up in the listings, but if you need to, you can go back to all the apps, click on one of the letters and then you can see the mug that appears in the listing. Not sure what it was called now, but anyway. never mind, let's get rid of that, okay, Ktuv 90-plus, we'll click on that and that's it, happy days, okay, what we have here and we're going to get information now, we need information. from from from UK repeaters, okay, so what we're going to do is connect it to the UK repeaters and just type in there awwk dotnet repeater, okay and we're going to put in a frequency for a Furcal repeater. and in my local repeaters probably a fairly local would be something like I want to know GB 3 DB 3 Rd yes, that is enough or not, each one is fine and there is the information you need, which gives us the output frequency of the repeater and is giving the input frequency of the repeater, but it is also giving us the CT CSS code which we obviously need to open it now, these are slightly inverted in your hand, so obviously the output is the receive frequency in the hand and the frequency reception on the repeater is the transmitted frequency to your right, okay, that's what we're going to do, then we're going to take the output first and we're just going to copy it, okay?
We're going to come here at the receive frequency, so the repeater will transmit and we'll receive there Andy, okay one four five six seven five Ah, and there it is, okay and then we go. to take the receive frequency, so that's the one transmitted from the handheld, laptop or laptop, we're going to paste that into the transmit, so there we go, so now let's transmit to the output. of the rest of the repeater there and we are going to receive from the output, well, there are two meters that are narrow, 12.5 kilohertz and what else do we have to do there?
We need to scan and we're going to turn it off right now, we don't need to add it to any scans and we'll give it a name, so let's get it out of the way so you can see it a little better. There you have it. give that a name, we'll call it 1gb 3rt because that's what it is and we don't need to decode it because it's obviously a tone squelch, what we're going to need is the repeater. it has a time squelch okay that basically means the repeater won't hear it until it's 8 a tone or a key basically to open it so we need to put that in the stream so we need to encode our stream with the with the same code as the repeater set to decode, so there's the CTC SS tone is one dot is one eight point eight Hertz, okay, so we need to go down to the little list and select it from there from the list there.
So there you have it, basically now we have the receive frequency, the transmit frequency that we don't need to decode, but now we are encoding, so we put the key to open the squelch on the repeater that we are going to transmit. in high power we are using narrow, okay, don't worry about that which is important at this stage, let's return that offer at this stage and we have called this memory allocation gb 3 Rd and that's basically it, okay, now Let's Program our first repeater and all you have to do is repeat the process again. You can search for the different repeaters if you want, if you want to know, you want another one.
I mean, it could be gb3. GF I think there is another one near me, yes, Guildford and again you do the same thing. This one is 70 centimeters, you would put the input and output frequencies and you need the tone and the only difference is that I think it could be 70 cents. wide, I think on that on the transmitter you would need to check with the RS gb band plan if they are narrow widths or 12.5 or 25 boxes, well that's basically it so all you really need to be able to do what you should do now is save all your hard work because obviously you don't want to keep doing this every five minutes, so when you need to do it, go to this file menu here and you can say save as well.
I'm going to save it to my desktop and I'm going to call it in a sample O saved there you go and it's going to save it with a cautious extension and that's it, you just say save, okay, that's it, now you've put in a repeater. You've set it up and saved your hard work now, obviously, now if you want to close it and come back to it later, you can reopen the program, say file and then open, okay, it's gone to the desktop, let's scroll through it to down and we'll see our saved sample and we'll open a safe sample and you should see it change.
There is what we put previously. It's all there for you to save, so it's a very simple process. You can test the connection with the radio, simply once you have installed the driver, plug the correct cable into the red one if you knew Windows and obviously the black one if you have older versions of Windows and then turn on the radio. you plug in the computer, plug in the radio and then turn on the radio and you should be able to read fine from the radio and then it will read in the menu, however it will overwrite what you have done.
If you do a read post setting this so that I always do a read first, okay, then modify the file and then you can write it to the radio, but make sure you save your work, okay, well, that's it. See it really very very simple and I hope it helps. It seems like some people have had some issues, but I hope it helps. Well, thank you very much and see you in the next video.
