Galaxy S22 Ultra Durability Test - How does the New S-Pen Work?!

and how well it can withstand everyday life inside the box, we get the phone and a USB charging cable and that's it from the start. I have to say, I'm a fan of these individualized camera shots, but we'll get to that in a second, let's get started. Samsung has combined its Note line and its phone line into one and I definitely agree that the phones were basically the same anyway minus the S Pen, so it makes sense.

Start with the scratch

. Samsung says they are using Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back of the phone. There

n't appear to be any plastic screen protector installed. Those would scratch at a level two or three, while tempered glass would scratch at a level five or three. six and the sapphire would scratch at a level eight or nine, we get some rockage with all the cameras on one side but that's not a big deal, we see the screen start to scratch at a level six with deeper grooves at a level seven, so So far, so good, also on the camera you'll notice this super weird screen flickering.

I think it's the super low refresh rate that Samsung is talking about but it

does

n't show up in real life with the naked eye, talking about cyclops eyes here in the center there is a 40 megapixel selfie camera along with minimal bezels and an earpiece riser the thickness of a human hair, and as usual, Samsung has included the typical microplastic protection on all sides of the phone. They should probably stop doing this. Made of metal and will last very well in a cardboard box. The buttons are also made of metal and are also removable, so if you find someone with the same phone as you but a different color, you can swap buttons and be best friends forever.

The top has more of this silly plastic along with the other side of the phone. If I really wanted this Samsung saran wrap, I would check my grandmother's refrigerator for leftovers. At the bottom we have more microplastics along with a 45-watt fast charging USB. c port and the new s pen hijacked from that line of notes, we also have a single SIM card tray without expandable memory. Now I've been a big fan of the Notes line for its entire existence so I'm glad it continues in spirit through the s22

s Honestly I don't use the s pen very often but I like having tools on hand if I ever need them.

This time Samsung has improved the pin response time since the last note, taking it from 9 milliseconds to 2.8 response time is always very important. The s-pen itself appears to be about the same build as normally. However, the tip doesn't seem to want to come off, so they may not be replaceable this year. However, it is airtight. It'll be fun to see how they accomplish that from the inside, cutting it out so we can get a good look. It's pretty well sealed with the black plastic around the outside. Once we enter, we see the copper coils around the shaft that allow the phone to wirelessly detect the presence of the s pen, as well as the pressure sensitive tip that can detect 4096 different pressure levels along with a ring of rubber we should have known when in doubt put some rubber on it usually does a good job of waterproofing the back half of the shaft is also plastic coated and once again we see a capacitor inside instead of a battery.

The capacitor is what allows the s-pen to maintain power while away from the phone so you can take pictures with a click. there's a ton of glue in here to keep moisture away from the circuitry, very nice. Thumbs up if you like seeing the inside of things, the phone wants its stylus back inside which is unfortunate, not sure how I'm going to explain that the pin isn't. In fact, somewhere safe, but let's continue, the back of the s22 ultra is matte black and has a camera with a smooth, frosted surface. At the top we have a series of five mirrored lens rings, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide one in the corner and then a 108-megapixel camera.

Below that and a 10-megapixel 10x optical zoom periscope camera on the bottom right side, we have a regular three-times 10-megapixel telephoto lens with a glass-covered flash and the laser autofocus circle on top. I'm a big fan of this design. It is minimalist without any rectangular excess and each of the small sized circles is surrounded by a mirrored metallic metal that speaks of encompassing. If you're looking to differentiate your rectangle from all the other rectangles out there, there's always the dbrand leather skins channel sponsor, which dbrand has taken over. Outside, I'm sure the next thing we'll see from dbrand is a skin made from broccoli so we can appease the vegans. The screen on the s22 ultra is quite interesting, it has a variable refresh rate, which is why it looks weird sometimes. The camera's human eyes don't see refresh rate fluctuations, but my camera can capture it moving from 1 hertz in still images to 120 hertz while moving. 120 hertz goes a long way toward getting that microscopic millisecond hit of diluted dopamine faster than the 6.8-inch 1440p Dynamic Amoled. the screen lasted 20 seconds under the heat of my lighter before turning white with a small permanent spot on the screen.

Lastly, before the curvature

, we have an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the screen, instead of optically seeing my fingerprint, it uses an ultrasonic pulse to bounce waves off the ridges. from my finger and after adding deeper level 7 grooves to the top it seems to still

work

fine so the scratches don't deter the ripples, we finally have the container test, while most phones survive, some don't like the oneplus 10 pro which means we have to try them all. Samsung has almost always had some really solid devices. However, we don't need to mention the Note 7 because it would be rude if viewed from behind, according to history, this S22 Ultra is as solid as they are.

The same thing happens when we turn it towards the front, solid as a rock. Now you're probably wondering: Hey Jerry, are you going to upgrade your two and a half year old Note 10 plus to this new S22 Ultra and the answer is no, no? Does my current phone still

work

great? You don't need the latest processor or highest resolution for doomsday to plunge you into a crippling depression over current world events. Older processors can handle that very well. There is no reason to be sad and poor when you can. I would be sad if my current phone was broken.

I would consider the s22 ultra as a replacement but my phone is not broken and works fine. Also, we still have to see if Samsung has made its batteries easier to recycle before purchasing a Samsung. as my daily driver again, but I'll cover more of that in the teardown until then, good job Samsung, the s22 ultra passes my
