Mar 29, 2024
In my last video, I covered 10 things you should do as soon as you get your Note 20 Ultra. Today we're going to dig a little deeper and go over 20

tips

and

tricks

you may not know. Many of them are applicable. to other Galaxy devices, so if you didn't pick up the Note 20 Ultra, it's all good with all that out of the way, let's go ahead and dive right into this. The first tip I have for you might be common sense and that is to get a screen protector on your camera cover. I'm using a screen protector from White Stone Dome as usual, it's definitely quite expensive and that might put some people off right away.

I'll link it in the description so you can check prices in your area. To find out if it is right for you, I have tried several other brands and nothing compares to the installation and quality of the white stone dome, at least at the time of this video, although it is not the easiest installation in the world, it is the safer and if you follow the instructions it's virtually foolproof, the oleophobic coating is best in class and the touch sensitivity is excellent too. The in-display fingerprint scanner works with the glass installed, but you'll need to register your fingerprints again after installing it.

You need to press a little harder on the scanner when trying to scan your fingerprints compared to without the screen protector, but it still works great. They now also offer a tempered glass camera protector that is thin and doesn't affect image quality. I'm definitely going to want that because the camera hump on the back is huge and you don't want to break that glass, so diving into the software side of things, the first little trick I have for you is for anyone who's using airpods or airpods at the moment. Pro like these, most people already know how to connect Airpods Pro to an Android device, but if you don't let me show you quickly, the first thing you need to do is dive into the Bluetooth settings and then open your Airpods and hold down on this. little circular button right here on the back you will see a white light that will blink slowly at first and then it will be very fast once you have a white light that blinks quickly like what's happening right now you're going to locate your Air Pods touch it and It should connect like a normal pair of Bluetooth headphones.

Functionality is limited on Android as a whole, but the Note 20 Ultra can go a little further. You can use the microphones on Airpods and Airpods. pro with the

when recording video using the standard camera, let me give you a quick example. First, I'm going to go ahead and put in my airpods pro and it should automatically connect to the boom, so now we're connected. I'm going to dive into the camera app and go to pro video and here you'll have the option to change the microphones that you're currently using by default it's set to omni but if I tap omni and then tap bluetooth now I'm using the microphones that they are on board my bluetooth headphones or bluetooth headphones which happen to be airpods pro so I can adjust the audio right here so if you find that the audio may be too hot or too loud you can adjust it and you can use the levels for measurement and for reference right here, so let's set it back to about negative 4 db, this should be a little quieter and it won't peak or clip.

I hope this is good, but first let me give you a quick example of what the integrated audio sounds like. This is a quick example of what the integrated audio sounds like. I am using the found omnidirectional microphones. on the

now I'm going to go ahead and switch to bluetooth audio which of course I'm using the airpods pro and it will give you a good reference point on what to expect now one thing I do have What I mean is I think That the Galaxy Buds Live will sound a little better considering they are made for the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra and other Samsung devices, so take the quality with a grain of salt but still use it.
It's a reference point, so let's go ahead and change it. I'm now using the microphones found on the Airpods Pro. You can hear the difference in quality for yourself, which one sounds better. Let me know in the comments section. One thing I have to say. It's when you're using Bluetooth microphones, like the Airpods Pro, you can lower the camera and be further away from it, so if you want a full body photo, it's definitely doable as long as you use a headset or headphones with a microphone will also work with Other headphones and Bluetooth headphones as long as they have a microphone, so you don't have to use AirPods AirPods Pro or even Galaxy Buds Live.
You can use your own bluetooth headphones as long as you have a microphone, this will be great for people who are making the transition from iPhone to Galaxy and just don't have the budget to buy another pair of headphones, they can use the ones they have. The next tip I have for you is Some battery saving

tips

for beginners using dark mode and black wallpapers will save power due to the OLED display. It won't make a drastic difference, but it should still be noticeable. Then enable always on screen. I know it sounds contradictory, but hear me out.
Thanks to the LTPO display on the Note 20 Ultra, the refresh rate can go down to 1 Hertz, this alone will save you a ton of power, but since AOD themes are generally black with slight color or gray tones, it will be much more efficient to verify them. your notifications that way instead of having to turn on the screen every time, lastly, is to adjust your app's power management settings as you see fit to access the app's power management settings, swipe down to pull down the notification tone and then go to your settings, scroll down and tap on device care, then tap battery, finally tap app power management within the app power management settings, you have the ability to turn adaptive battery on and off, which will limit battery usage for apps that are not used frequently, you can also turn on and off the ability to put your own apps to sleep by tapping inactive apps, you can manually add apps that are not They will run in the background, just tap add apps, select an app and then if you want to delete an app for some reason, just tap the trash can in the top right corner Deep sleep apps work similarly to apps for sleep, but they will not pull data or run in the background, finally there is the option to add apps to a list that will not go to sleep, so if you want an app to run constantly in the background, add it to this list number three, there are two secret menus, first you need to enter your dialer and then dial star pound zero star pound, a secret menu will appear, this secret menu will appear allows you to test the red, green and blue pixels, test the vibration motor of the receiver, the camera, other sensors, touch sensitivity, speaker and much more, if you notice that your device is not working properly you can find out what is happening by running one of these diagnostic tests there is another hidden menu that you can access in exactly the same way , but instead of the above code you will enter starpound0228 pound and this menu will give you information about your network connection and signal strength, but most importantly it will give you information about the battery status, so if you can't keep the loading, this might tell you why I've noticed a lot of people complaining about random ads within a UI and other standard Samsung apps calling me crazy, but I haven't really experienced this and it might have to do with the settings I adjusted personally.
Let me show you how to disable the personalization service for ads and adjust your privacy settings. First let's dive into the settings, scroll down and tap privacy then tap personalization service turn off the top setting that says personalization service and then tap clear personal data tap clear once again to remove any personalization add personalization data that They may be stored on your phone or in the cloud and then return to the main privacy. and security page, click on the device personalization services option, then tap on wipe data, lastly, go back to the main privacy and security page once again, scroll to the end and make sure the personalize ads and direct marketing is disabled.
This should technically fix any advertising issues. you're having it, but if not, let me know five are live transcription and live subtitles, these aren't new features per se and they're not exclusive to the new 20 series, but they're definitely cool and a worthy mention for live access. transcribe simply go to your app drawer and search for live transcription live transcription is basically speech to text and supports many different languages. Best of all, it works really well. The next step is live subtitles. Live Captions will basically add subtitles to anything you're watching or listening to. This is great for times when you don't have your headphones on and can't use your phone's speakers because of the people around you, at least you can follow along. video reading the subtitles to access the live subtitles, go to your app drawer and search for live subtitles, click on the accessibility option within the live subtitles settings, you can select your language, turn the ability on and off from hiding bad words, including sounds as tags, such as laughter, clapping, etc., and lastly you can turn live subtitles on and off within the volume control settings, next is to enable the developer settings and try these three Features As soon as you have some time to enable the developer settings, you will enter your usual settings scroll. all the way and go to the phone software information tap on the software information and then keep pressing the build number until it says enter your PIN go ahead and enter your PIN and then you will have enabled the developer mode so now , if you backup on the main settings page, you can see the option for developer options right there.
The first thing you can do with the developer options is you can make a mock location now. Why would you want to do this if you're playing Pokémon Go? Then you probably already know that there are specific regions. Pokémon and if you're not going to travel to China or you're not going to travel to Japan or you're not going to travel to the UK to get these Pokémon, how else are you going to get them? You can spoof your location and get them that way. To do that, you'll scroll down until you see the option to select the mock location app.
Tap that option. You will have to download a fake GPS app from the Google Play Store. You can see I downloaded one here called fake gps, select it now, my note 20 ultra will use the location I entered in my fake gps app system wide including third party apps like pokemon go. The next thing you can do within the developer options is play with some of the bluetooth audio settings, so if you keep scrolling down you will see the option for bluetooth version bluetooth audio codec bluetooth audio sample rate bits bluetooth audio by sample bluetooth audio channel mode what these settings will do is allow you to adjust the audio quality of the bluetooth device you are currently using, be a little careful with this, I mean, you are not going to break anything permanently, but you could end up adjusting something and then the quality is just atrocious and you'll have to go back in and fix it manually and if you don't know what's changing then it could be a problem so be careful but these settings will allow you to get a little more control of the that you would get from your normal settings and the last thing you can do might actually make your phone seem a little faster.
Some people jump in and do this as soon as they get their Android device, but if you're new to Android, you might not know this. If you keep scrolling down you will see the option for window animation, transition animation and animator duration scale, by default it is set to an x or 1 times, you can change this to 0.5 or you can just turn it off . I don't recommend going. disabled, but doing 0.5 will make your phone seem a little faster. Someone asked me in my last video how to set Samsung Pay to always use the fingerprint scanner. Let me show you what worked for me.
It's really simple. What we are going to do is enter Samsung Pay, touch the three lines in the cornertop left and then tap settings on verification method, make sure fingerprint is on, it will ask you to enter your PIN, go ahead and enter it real. quick and it may ask you to verify it one more time and then now you have to verify your fingerprint so go ahead and verify your fingerprint and boom you should now be able to verify with your fingerprint every time you make a purchase with Samsung Pay if for some reason. The reason you can't verify with your fingerprint may have to do with the app you're trying to use Samsung Pay in or if you've had too many failed attempts, but either way make sure it's turned on and it should fix it. its problems I'm not a big Samsung Internet user, but I decided to give the Note 20 Ultra a try because a lot of people have told me really good things about this browser.
I noticed a couple of interesting things that you may not know. The first is the ability to reopen closed tabs in the event that you accidentally close something and you really need it open, let me show you, so if I go ahead and start Samsung Internet Browser, then we'll go ahead and go to Google. Well, let's say this wasn't actually Google, but something really important that I needed to keep open and accidentally closed. Well, I can tap on the three little dots up here and then you'll see the option to reopen the tab, close it and then boom, it will appear again another thing you can do is customize this menu by default, there's a lot of stuff here and if you're not Reading through, you might not be able to find what you're looking for, for example, just the old settings button down here at the bottom left. but I would like it to be on the top row so I can see it immediately, so tap settings, tap appearance and then tap customize menu and now you can drag things around and put them in an order that best suits your use.
There are also a few things that aren't part of this menu that you can go ahead and add, like closing web search on the internet, refreshing new tab, and turning on secret mode, so simply holding one of these and dragging it down can add it . to that menu and then go back, we'll go back to the browser here, tap on the three lines and boom, now it's organized to my liking if we go to settings and you realize that you don't like the way you set it up When you open it, you can always Tap Reset and it will return to its default state staying within the Samsung Internet Browser.
There's one more thing I want to show you and this is how you can customize the tab view, so if I open my tabs By default, this is the list view by tapping on the three little dots at the top right and go see, ya that we have a stack of lists and a grid. I personally like the stack so I'm going to select that click ok this way it gives you a quick preview of what the websites are and you can just scroll through them and then select the one you want to go back to one of the best things about Any Galaxy device is packed with features that allow you to connect, interact and share with others.
A really cool way to do this while sharing your personality is to share music, let me show you how to access share music, you're going to go down, access your quick options here, go to the second page at least that's where it is on mine and then Search for music sharing, just long press it and the actual settings will appear. Music sharing allows you to share your bluetooth connections so let's say you are connected to your car stereo via bluetooth and you have a friend in the car and your friend wants to share your music unfortunately with the way car stereos are set up. cars nowadays or at least the ones I have experience with you can't just connect to a device while driving you have to stop the car has to be parked or at least many times I stopped to do this, however with music sharing you can allow have your friend connect to your phone and share that bluetooth connection without having to stop the car, all this and that, but like I told you, you are able to share any bluetooth connection, including my airpods pro, any speaker you may be connected to, etc., number 11 is a really cool thing and really useful if you have friends or family over and they are using a Galaxy smartphone.
In fact, I can share your Wi-Fi password with them wirelessly. I love this feature on iOS when used with my iPhone, so I was excited to see it on the Note 20 Ultra, but to take it a step further, you can also share your password wirelessly. Access point password using a QR code. I'll show you that too, so I have my Note 20 Ultra here. If I wanted to share my Wi-Fi password with, say, my S20 Ultra, all I have to do is go into my Wi-Fi settings. locate the wi-fi network I'm connected to to press the cog and then press the qr code now on the other phone enter your camera scan the qr code like this and then tap connect and boom you are now connected so You can now share the Wi-Fi network without having to give that person your password.
If you want to do the same with your mobile hotspot, just go into wireless settings and then enable your mobile hotspot and then click on it and then click. on the qr code here at the top, so once you are in your mobile hotspot settings, click on the qr code at the top right and then enter the same to the camera on the other phone, Scan the QR code, accept it and boom, now you are connected. to my mobile hotspot, so I basically use QR codes to accomplish everything, but it's still much better than having to give out your password and it works perfectly.
I know I went over a few things in my previous video about the keyboard, so I'm going to keep this quick, there are two more features that I really think you should keep in mind and that to me are extremely practical and useful. The first is swipe to undo and swipe to redo, so I have Samsung's notes here. We're going to go ahead and write a quick phrase and we're going to undo it and then redo it, so to undo it you're going to take two fingers and then you're going to swipe left and you can keep doing that to undo different words. or different phrases and then to redo, just go to the right and it will redo the last thing you typed.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use the two-finger swipe undo and redo gesture if you're using swipe typing for I'll have to go to cursor control or no gesture, so to change that, go to keyboard settings, go to swipe , tap and feedback, go to keyboard swipe controls, by default swipe to type will be enabled, however, simply change it to cursor control and now you will be able to enjoy the undo and redo gesture by swiping two fingers, something as easy that will give you a little bit more functionality, hopefully improve your productivity and another thing that I highly recommend you check out and enable is Samsung Pass inside the Samsung keyboard, so if I tap on these three little dots, you'll see the option for Samsung Pass, touch that verification with your fingerprints and now you can add notes to Samsung Pass if you want something much more secure than samsung notes or can access your login information credit card information address social security number anything can be accessed that you have stored within Samsung Pass directly from your keyboard, this should speed up any logging in or entering sensitive information such as a shipping address etc. and so on, number 13 is useful for this big screen by default, if you swipe down on the home screen it will open the app drawer, if you want to change it to pull down the notification panel, this is what you should do.
Go ahead and long press on the home screen and go to the home screen settings and then find swipe down to see the notification panel and then turn it on now when you swipe down it will bring down the notification shade instead of that I have the notification tone. unfolding is much more practical and much more useful talking about this big, beautiful screen using the built-in one-handed mode is almost necessary Samsung has one of the best implementations of one-handed mode on any phone, so you don't go Si you are not disappointed to access and configure one hand mode, you will go to your settings and then scroll down to see advanced features and then scroll down until you see one hand mode, tap on that, activate it and then select the one want, then you have gestures, so if you are using Android gesture based navigation you have to use gestures, but if you are using the notification buttons or the notification softkeys, you can make the button, so for me I am using the navigation gestures inspired by Android 10, so I have gestures enabled and what I'm going to do is go down here and swipe down like this and then you can see the screen shrink.
This screen can be adjusted as you see fit and can. Also place it on the left or right if you are ever in a situation where you need to temporarily silence your phone, say at church school or at work. The next feature is great, what you can do is go into your settings, access sounds and vibrations. and then turn on temporary silence and then you can choose the duration you need your phone to be silent for one, two and three hours are the default hours but you can create a custom one and I know it's similar to a do not disturb schedule. but honestly, some people may just want their phones to be silent rather than having to even mess with Do Not Disturb, so this is definitely a great option for those people.
Another thing I mentioned in my previous video was wireless platforms, but what I didn't tell you. is that it can work with TVs other than Samsung or Miracast at least some and in this quick demo I'll show you how you can use it with a high-end TV, but if you're using another brand just look for a casting. option and enable it. I can't guarantee it will work for every TV out there, but I haven't had any problems with the TVs I have in my home yet. I'll update on Instagram and Twitter if I find any. emits another interesting feature that I'm glad to see on the note 20 ultra is close.
Share that it currently works on Pixel and Samsung devices, but will soon be available on others. Think of it as an airdrop for Android. Let me show you how to use it so close. sharing is really cool. I'm going to send a photo from my note 20 ultra to my s20 ultra to do that, let's dive into the gallery and then I'll select a photo, we'll select this one. right here, hit the share button, go to share nearby here you'll get a notification, tap to become visible, there's the phone, hit ok and boom, now we have the image, so like I said, it's like an airdrop of Samsung to Samsung, regardless of the pixel.
The devices support close sharing, however I can't get the 4a to work, but I know from what I understand that other Pixel devices do support it, so in the future you should be able to send images, video clips and files wirelessly to Android to Android. um, yeah, that's near sharing, but there's another way to share an image or video wirelessly. You can also do it through um right here, quick share, so if you go into quick share, it works pretty much the same way, except unlike sharing nearby, which pretty much has to be a contact of some kind, it can't be just anyone, share it quickly, you can send it to a non-contact person, so if you have someone sitting next to you who you want to share as a photo with, you can send it. wirelessly with fast sharing and they don't have to be in your contacts.
Now I'm going to dive into the gallery and we'll send that same photo. In fact, we will choose a different one and ship it. the share button and then go to quick share and then point from a note or point the devices at each other, this will speed things up and just select the phone you want to send it to and it's really very quick and you're done. so it's already been shipped now I'm getting it if I go up here it should be right there so actually this is more similar to an airdrop I would say though I'm almost 100% sure this is just from Samsung to Samsung so that this is not so.
Samsung to a different Android device, it has to be two Galaxy devices, but it's still really good. 18 is taking advantage of screen recorder with flow. Let me show you how to open the screen recorder and let me show you what the flow is. There are a couple of different ways to access the screen recorder. You can go to the app drawer and then find the screen recorder. You will see the app pop up. You can touch it and access thatway or you can access your quick access. it toggles just pulling down, pulling down again, swipe until you see the screen recorder and then you can tap on that now inside the screen recorder settings, you have a few different options, you have one for sound, no you can make no sound, you can make multimedia sounds, which are the sounds that come from the speakers or you can make multimedia sounds plus the microphone input, it has a video quality of up to 1080p and if you touch the details, you have the option to record a selfie video at the same time as a screen recording in To show you what the flow is and how it works, we're going to do a screen recording, so we're going to go to the quick changes and then we'll turn on the screen recorder and then we'll tap start recording, we'll we'll skip the countdown right here.
This flow will be great for tutorials, how-to style videos, even for YouTube or if you're just trying to explain something to someone and then you want to send them that video, so if you turn on the pen right here, you can select a color we'll keep it red and You can circle things on your screen and it will record your screen writing. You can turn it off if you want to toggle with an arrow instead of a dot, like a mouse cursor you can toggle. the arrow and now you can point at things and lastly, if you press the little person icon right here, it will enable the selfie camera within the settings, you can adjust the size of the selfie circle that you know is displayed on the screen and finally we have a pause, so if you want to pause the recording and then pick it up later, you can do that or you can just stop it completely and then it will save that screen recording to your gallery.
The next tip I have for you is to enable Samsung. security, some of you may not need to do this because it might affect your performance slightly, but if you are on public networks a lot or download a lot outside of the Play Store, I recommend turning it on to protect your data, if you want to turn on Samsung security , we'll go to settings, we'll scroll down until we see device care and then you can see under security it says disabled so we'll tap on security and then turn it on, turn it on once again and now we can do a scan of the phone and it will scan on background as you download new things and while using your phone, like I said, it could possibly affect performance, but it won't.
I mean, I highly doubt you'll notice any difference and it's always best that you know how to keep your phone protected, especially if you're doing a lot of the things I've already mentioned if you're using a password or fingerprint authentication on your phone, you'll really especially appreciate this one. next tipIf you're planning a trip or want to go out with some friends to a bar once everything gets back to normal, what we're going to do is go to our settings, we're going to go to the lock screen and then I'm going to go to the information contact, so in here you can put your name and an alternative number, maybe a PO box that way.
If you ever lose your phone, the person who finds it has a way to contact you, so I'm going to move on. and I put my name here and then we'll type in a fake number and then we'll hit Done Now. If I go to the lock screen you can see it has my name and then a number, that way if they ever lose my phone they will be able to. Please contact me so I can get my phone back.
