Jun 06, 2021

wearing the same color that I quickly stated in my memoir. Airhead is said to be turned into a television comedy-drama. You must have a great literary agent, very, very. Good for you, obviously, can I talk to you about something in the papers today because I know you're going to have an opinion on this and you might not be allowed to say it? Wait, Darren, you would ask me the same thing that was on the news. This Jeremy Vine, what's going on, he's getting hit left, right and center because this case was taken on by the BBC, so obviously we all know that the BBC was operating and you were a victim of this BBC being operating. with scandalous and gender-unequal behavior towards female employees.

The BBC's argument is that as a news channel news programme, Jeremy Vayam is a long-running entertainment programme, it has a much bigger name. An argument that I think is perfectly reasonable. What do you think of all this? You could tell us the disparity between the two of you if you want. I don't know, actually, I don't know why not, don't you like transparency? No, we are not busy. I do not pay. I know a place where you don't pay our salary, so presumably it's a national or international problem. that we are all trying to understand and address and whether we need more transparency or not is clearly the big issue.

I don't think it's a Jeremy Vine problem. I think from what I understand you know that Samira has gone to court. Those who go to court don't do it willingly they don't do it because it's their first resort they do it because they've tried everything else that hasn't worked and you know as someone who has been in a similar position my heart goes out to her you know, I think it's a really important thing that she's doing and, in a way, fighting for other people who have received injustices and for every 700 thousand dollars in back payments because she wants to be paid the same as Jeremy Vine. he's a much bigger name, I mean, to me I don't quite understand the arm, the argument is that Hilda pays poorly for work of equal value and it's not equal value, well that's quite industrial, you know, I mean , I don't know.

I know I won't dislike the court case, but I think one of the things that's been discussed is the difference between news and entertainment. Now that you're an artist, Piers, you know we make news and I think you said that. I think overall it would be nice if those two were equally recognized, right? I don't know because I think star power has to play a factor even at the BBC, even in particular, it's always like making a nickel, cops. too and yet he's probably the best at what he does and could definitely make a lot more money.

The Linacre guy. Things are very different because you have been an expert in your field in what you do and you know how to hire an incredible. astronomer or someone who designed the Higden Bose to make a fantastic science program, you know, Gary Lineker plays for England, now he talks about something that he has perfect and therefore has star value. I get it, but that's not a difference between them. an entertainment show is not necessarily that he is an artist, it is that he is bringing the experience, the knowledge, the hardware, everything that he has experienced to the show.
Somehow I can see, I think you fell victim to all of this outrageously and were eventually dragged away kicking and screaming. direct assessment John Humphrey said here a few weeks ago and it is very interesting that he is clearly completely liberated but no longer has to be shackled by the BBC rules and has come out shooting everyone, not least the fact that basically everyone in the BBC are liberal and that is a problem for the corporation, do you think they are right? I don't know I know a lot of people who wouldn't I don't know what liberal means I've never personally met a conservative BBC employee In my life, what do you have behind you?
