Feb 20, 2020
Hey guys, welcome back to the craft channel, today we are going to do something super, super

easy

, we are going to make a DIY

coffee

mug, so all you will need is a

coffee

mug. I bought this at the dollar store, it's super affordable, it's a shade I love a big cup of coffee, that's for sure. I love a big cup of coffee, so they have a great selection at the dollar store. You'll also need some

vinyl

, so this is just oracles, they can't see it at all. Sorry, I thought you would. I won't be able to see it better, but there's a little bit there anyway.

This is a six to five Oracle

vinyl

, so it's permanent, so you'll want it as some type of permanent vinyl. It doesn't have to be Oracle. I know Cricut does. You also have a permanent vinyl, so any type of permanent vinyl you want to use a coffee mug and also some transfer tape. I'm going to use this transfer tape that Aunt Kate sent me. It is the best transfer tape. It's literally like a bummer. you don't have to worry about a support sheet or anything like that so it's awesome and that's it so let's get started and actually there's a special announcement in the video so if you find it or pick it up leave . leave me a comment and let me know what you think well let's get into the video so we're going to make this coffee cup and we're going to use this this is just a piece of permanent gold so this is six-five one permanent. vinyl so this is what you'll want to use for coffee mugs and wine glasses anything you want to be permanent obviously I usually don't close my coffee mugs or wine glasses just because they're usually just for me or her presents - his presents-their presents. and if you're using permanent vinyl and you take care of them and let the vinyl really cure down to the bug or the glass, you should be fine without sealing it so we're just going to put this on our mat so I'm using my blue mat and not you need to use this 12 by 24 mat.

More Interesting Facts About,

I'm just using it because my mats are really dirty right now and this one has the most grip right now, which isn't really a whole. Honestly, I'm scraping this onto my mat to make sure it sticks there and you can use any color vinyl you want. I'm using this gold one just because I like gold. I think I look pretty here, but you can. I want to make sure it's permanent and I know cricket has permanent vinyl. I personally like Oracle, but you can use whatever you want, so once our cricket light here turns blue or our power light, we'll change the settings on our

machine

. and I'm sorry I don't have a screenshot of this, but basically I'm going to use the normal old vinyl settings, that's all you need for this vinyl, so now that our light is flashing here we can load our mats and I have to I pulled out my

machine

just because it's out of space and now once this starts flashing we can cut okay so now I can unload our mats take it out and now we're just going to remove the stuff that we don't have.

I need and because this design is a little small sometimes Mike, I feel like my Coke machine is too aggressive and therefore a little funky, but I think this will be fine, so let's queue up for it you can I can see, so what I like to do is just try to lift up, so we're going to remove this negative space that we don't need, so we're just left with the letter, so I just peeled off one corner. and now I'm just going to gently remove the I'll leave is there for now and the font I used for this was Sweet Pea and I think this was from UM font packs.

I guess most of my fonts, if they're not on Cricut, are from font packs, so we've moved all of our letters out of here so we can get them out of the way and the bottom of the question mark came off, so I'm going to put that bag, okay, I'll put the G where it belongs, not on my nail, and I'll do it. Let's just say a platter like this that is very delicate and small probably won't stand the test of time with a mug like this. You know, if I were making this for someone else or selling it or something, I'd go with a much more like a sturdy supply that I knew how long it would last, but this is just for personal use, so I'm okay with that, you know, maybe take off at some point it's not a big deal but again I will warn you when you are making vinyl with mugs or wine glasses the thicker the design the bigger the design the better it will look without you knowing how to seal it if you want to seal it by all means yes You know how to do it, go ahead.
I have not done it. I dabbled in that so I don't seal my stuff, but you know, if you just take care of it, you know, no, there's no dishwasher, there's no microwave, there's no soaking, just hand wash them with care, all my mugs have lasted in their most of it, so, right? Now I am what I'm doing. I'm just removing the inside of these letters. I think that's all. Now I'll do this part again. I'm going to lift a corner and peel this little guy off. The design here is from twisted design space and how cute are these little numbers, oh my goodness, so perfect.
I wasn't even going to put a date here and suddenly I found these numbers and I thought, oh, these are perfect. Well, if you haven't noticed yet, I got engaged yesterday and after six years of being very patient or what I like to think is very patient. Jill proposed to you. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know this, but me. I thought it would be fun to come here and do a craft too because I mean getting engaged at any wedding, baby shower, this is the best excuse to do a craft, so I'm going to put this in this mug and I'm going to put it.
So the writing on the outside, if I hold it with my left hand, will say, does this ring make me look committed?, which is very true. He did a great job. I just need to make sure I remember which side and put it so I'm going to put this, so bring it down a little bit so you can see it properly and now this is the easiest part. That's why I love using vinyl. Now all we have to do is just slap this on, so using this giant roll of transfer tape that Aunt Tay sent me and this is literally the best, it has no backing sheet so you don't have to worry for peeling it off, it's just this giant roll that you can grab and go, it's like masking. tape transfer tape basically and it's just the best, literally the best thing I've ever used and I really like Oracle transfer tape, but this is just one piece, the vinyl peels off like butter, you can reuse it.
I will use this piece. I know a couple of times it's amazing and you can see that you can still see through it, so even though it looks like it's not transparent, it's still opaque enough, so we're going to put our transfer tape here. I scrape it good and then we're going to peel it off like when I normally would this G is like giving me trouble okay so let's peel this off and we're going to put it on this side because I'm I'm going to hold my cup like this so let's let you see, can you turn this down any more?
Look, I even lose, really look, so let's focus this as best we can. I think that's okay, so let's go. I'm just going to put this here. I like to press the center down first and then push out to try to avoid bubbles or something. I'm going to go line by line, now that we have this. Here I'm just going to scrape it very well, try not to ruin the vinyl underneath and the coffee cups, wine glasses are the best and easiest

gift

idea

, they are very

easy

, quick and relatively inexpensive. This pair costs a dollar, like I said. the vinyl itself, I don't know, I bought it a while ago, but it's also relatively inexpensive, so I'll link it below as well, so now that we have this here, we'll peel it off slowly and carefully, ah, I like it. kind of like holding it down and pressing and peeling so in case something starts to lift up okay seriously I can't believe it's engaged it's like that crazy thing so now when I hold it up you can see everything okay . now I'm just going to put the date I think I will um I'm going to do it on the back so if for some reason I hold this with my right hand there's still something on the other side so again using the same piece of tape of transfer, no need to waste another whole piece, press it down, oh yeah, we're just going to peel it off if there's anything stubborn, just press it down and shake it up a little bit, so now we're going to put this on the opposite side and just I'm going to fix it and again I just press return with my scraper okay so I'm going to remove this and how cute it looks on the back oh my gosh how cute okay so I hope you guys I enjoyed the video .
I don't know if it was cheesy or not, but I thought it would be super cute, so I love my new mug. I can't wait to take it to work tomorrow and show it off and anyway. thanks for watching if you like this video make sure to like, subscribe and follow me on Instagram on craft highlight erasers and I think that's it as always happy crafting.
