Dropping a GoPro Under a Popular Fishing Pier (Wild)

Apr 21, 2024
What's going on? My friends, welcome to the Novar Pier here in Florida. It's the longest

pier

in the Gulf of Mexico and today I thought it would be really fun to put a GoPro in the water under the

pier

and see what happens. passing there I also have some dead fish with me that I'm going to go down and see what comes to eat the dead fish and I just don't know, look what happens under a huge dock like this. Alright, I'm going to start close and work my way to deeper water offshore, so as you can see the water was pretty clear, but this is actually not a very clear day by Florida Panhandle standards, even though that in most places in the eastern ocean It would be amazing, this is actually a little dirty for the Gulf of Mexico, but you see it right away, the standards have some redfish swimming around and then a giant mullet in there, which is a mullet Huge, normally mullets are just small, fry, bait fish, but That one has avoided predators all its life and has grown to be huge, but it's interesting how the redfish keeps hanging around, uh, this tangent there, it They were very close to him and I ended up bringing the camera closer because I could see him down there. how big is that mullet, that guy is huge, look at that redfish that has a scar on its lip.

I guess it was hooked before, but it let go or it ran away and you see a pin that looks like a pinfish to me. chilling with them, which is also crazy, a big pinfish, I guess he's so big he's not afraid of getting eaten. Same thing with the giant mullet, they're not afraid of being eaten there either, and there's a snapper, a couple of snappers hanging out. you got a good variety of fish there shallow and then I ended up lowering the camera in the mid depth range but there was nothing there so it was interesting that right near the shore there are quite a few fish and then I had to go a little deeper before to see something more interesting, basically, put fish in that mid-depth range on this day, you'll see the little croakers out there, sand filter, filter feeding through the sand.

More Interesting Facts About,

I guess that was kind of cool and, uh, a turtle. a green sea turtle for the first time in this channel and he was exploring around this stanja and then he gets curious about the camera and swims and checks it, I'm not sure if he would like to bite it, maybe bite the GoPro case because he kind of gave the lap behind him, I'm not sure what he did there, we definitely checked the camera and then I took it to the end of the dock and checked how deep it is probably, I probably don't know, maybe 20 25 30 feet deep, it's a Bit hard to say but this is at the end of the pier, the longest pier in the Gulf of Mexico and this is where things started to get a little more interesting, there are some mangrove snapper swimming around and some aren't.

I don't know what those other snappers are there, if someone could enlighten me that would be great, there is a mangrove right in front, there is a very very good fish to eat and then a puffer fish comes to check things out. It looks like it's just swimming, but it's coming. I see it again so great that other little eyes are spinning around it. I want one of those for my aquarium and in the meantime I decide to implement the second part of my plan. Alright my friends, it's time to take out some ladybugs that I saved from the previous one.

Fishing trips put a big old piece on seeing what happens. Ladybugs are considered a trash fish in Florida, very oily, very bloody, very bony too, so it's a little hard for people to eat them, but fish love them for all the reasons. he said and soon enough he started a bit of Feeding Frenzy around the camera, you see some Remora there, those always look so

wild

if you don't know what a remora is, that's that fish that sticks to sharks and stingrays and stuff , um, but They also swim randomly in the ocean, they don't always have a host, they follow them and they love the ladybugs and the snappers start attacking the cigar minnows, there we have everything congregated around and in a second you will see the Dolphins will congregate around and you will see a small file fish in the mix that is getting its small pound of meat.
Look at that tiny little mouth. I actually caught a filefish by chance once when I was younger, but they are incredibly difficult to catch. You need a little micro hook shape because they just don't have a mouth and you can see it trying to get in there, if I remember those tiny Chomper teeth were crooked. tiny teeth can take off little bits of the fish there, but the feeding frenzy started to heat up and attract the attention of some foreign dolphins here, so watch this dolphin walk in, he's checking the bait but he already has something in his mouth.
I don't know what it is, look in slow motion, his mouth is definitely open and there's something there, maybe some other fish or a crab or something. I didn't see it very well, but take note of where the fish is and uh, let Remora and stuff have it for a while, but it'll be back around in just a second meanwhile, I was on the dock with a subscriber, it's just that I'm cheering up, oh, cute. which I'm not sure that looks good, nice catch guys, this is what you want to be in a YouTube video, uh, guys, this is Franklin, while I have my lines down there, he's just

fishing

, wait, that one It's not a Pompano, that's, uh, no.
I don't know what that is, man, it looks weird, yeah, kind of like a cat, but it doesn't look like it's not one. His head looks weird, he doesn't look weird, he looks good to eat, yeah dude, I honestly don't know what that is. Hey, that's great, although the first fish of the day is nice, sweet, cool, it's fun like being here with all the fishermen and I've got my lines there and I'm wondering what's going on, so the feeding was getting more intense. Remora. they were gathering around, they're

wild

er than they look to me, they look like some kind of cool, weird looking aquarium fish, but man, when they want, when they want a cup shaped piece of bait, they absolutely go for it, no I believe it. they have teeth or something, they're just doing that with a little uh, they have a little Ridge in their mouth, but that's it and then the dolphin comes up to break up the party and grabs the hook, you know.
Everyone is having a good time and the dolphins excuse me, I'll take it and swim away and this is what you could see from the dock, I have a big shark, look at that, look at that creature over there. I think that was right on my line, oh, it's out of sight, it's very hard to see, it's lying on the bottom, there's a big creature down there of some kind, oh, it didn't even grab it, it didn't even try the hook the hook is still on and the whole thing could have been a dolphin it could have been a dolphin yes you can always tell when a dolphin grabs your line instead of a shark because it grabs it without grabbing the hook yeah I see you the shark just eats everything and then cuts your line with its teeth, but a dolphin tears off the bait.
It was a fun experiment though and I definitely have to do this again. If you want to see more underwater videos, click on them. Thanks everyone for hanging out. we will see it in the next one
