DJI Ronin SC Tutorial: Balance any BIG and HEAVY camera setups! (Canon 550d)

Jun 09, 2021
What's up guys, filmed from a tree? The technology is deaf in today's video, we're going to do another setup and I probably found a trick on how to

balance

really

heavy

camera

s with extremely large lenses like this. I borrowed this

camera

so basically in the last few days. I've been looking, I've been checking with my friends so I can borrow some cameras from them to make as many camera setup

tutorial

s for you guys as possible for you youtubers because I've been getting a lot of questions about different different

setups

, I'm doing my best to get as many cameras as possible with different lenses and things like that so I can show you whether these

setups

work or not, so I mentioned getting a nine year old camera, it might be a

550d

, not many of you are.

Pretty much no one will be using this camera right now because it's a very old Canon aps-c DSLR, but the reason I'm borrowing this one is because of the weight similarities to other Canon cameras, which are more or less the same as this Canon

550d

. At five thirty grams below the Canon cameras you can use with a different weight is the Canon EOS 750d, which weighs about five 55 gram bodies, which is pretty close to the five thirty grams of the Canon EOS Rebel t5i or the 800 D , which weighs 532 grams and the

canon

eos 77 d, which weighs five forty grams, so we have three different cameras that have received questions on my YouTube videos: These are the most popular Canon DSLR cameras out there when people were still using I don't think anyone is using 550d, but a similar weight class and a previous video actually did a video on the Canon 200 D which is very popular and we did it, we did a failed setup when I mounted it on this Sigma 17 250 millimeter on 2.8 lens, so we didn't manage to

balance

it because the Canon, whose bodies can look really light, weighs only about 430 grams, while this Sigma lens is extremely

heavy

, it weighs about 565 grams, so it's 130 grams more heavier than the Canon. 200 on its body, so I just tested this lens, which is like I said, the Sigma gasps at 565 grams and this Canon 550 weighs 530 grams.

More Interesting Facts About,

dji ronin sc tutorial balance any big and heavy camera setups canon 550d...

I just tried the normal setup, the camera riser and the quick adjust plate, and it doesn't work, so I'm just letting you know the normal setup the same way you can for 200 years with this lens, although in right now the 550, this weight is much closer, there is only a difference of 30 grams compared to this Sigma 1750 lens, it was not yet balanced in a normal configuration, that is, with the vertical camera support because it is a lens Quite big, so we need to use the camera vertical support and quick adjustment plate, so I didn't manage it. I tried it for at least 45 minutes trying to balance it every way possible.

I've even mounted, yeah, the iPhone on the hot shoe mount with this phone on, oh, with this phone holder and the iPhone I mounted it to make it heavy to try to balance it and that didn't work either, but now check it out, okay? I managed to do it. do it, check it out, so the only thing left is whether or not this will work when you turn it on. You can see that I managed to balance it and the three axes, the most important part, whether this will work or not, like I said, I tried.

I put it on the normal configuration with the vertical camera support and quick adjustment plate as usual, even on Friday on the

canon

eos 200 ii and that didn't work either, so I tried something and let's check that it looks good, without trying . on the engine I managed to clean it very, very lightly, you see it almost touches it, but it just didn't power the engines again, let's try the mode, let's try mode two, oh yeah, I try to tilt it, it works olessa fails, very nice, no one shoes they didn't know. screen on motors lastly bearable rule Wow, flipping it forward, well you got it working, that's sick after doing so many

tutorial

s on heavy setups, some work, some didn't, but this definitely works without a problem. great okay I'll show you how I did it so let's go straight to the video okay I'm not sure how I did it and then we'll try it on 200.
Previously it failed but if this method works on all. 200 BC, this would be a fantastic advancement, so it's actually relatively simple. I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I've been doing so many different setups like the ones I mentioned and didn't think about it before. I'm going to start from the beginning, okay, first of all, prepare your camera, if you want to put a lens hood on it, put it on, if you want to try to put a shotgun microphone on it, which we are definitely not clearly the axis of the rule, you can do that.
Try it too, if not, leave it as bare as possible if you want to put an ND filter on it, go ahead, so first of all, screw on the vertical camera mount for these kinds of large setups. Screw on the camera riser and make sure it is tight and flush. Secondly, this is the part that meets the key difference. You can see that there are usually two holes on the camera risers, so all the time we have been using the quick adjust plate with two screws to fix the camera riser. so in all my other tutorials I also started attaching the quick adjust plate, screw it into both holes on the camera riser, but for large setups, which I just discovered, you only need one screw, get rid of the other school , even if you are using the camera riser use only one screw the same higher than that in the direction it says lens here follow the direction of the lens and screw this screw if your lens is pointing downwards screw it into the bottom hole, don't duplicate the bottom hole and see that then the lens is pointing down here, follow the direction of the lens, you have two holes on the camera riser, take that screw and screw it into the bottom hole, once you have screwed it in halfway, push it all the way in so it looks like this plate can now extend further down the lens previously using two screws, this is the maximum it will go, but now with just one screw, this is the maximum use of two screws like that to adjust up to here, yes.
This is a lot, but now we only have one screw, we can push it all the way to the front, there's more free plate and then you tighten it, take your screwdriver or your coin and screw it in really tight, make sure it's flushed too, that's good. you will need the lens holder, put it on too, there are two sides, the bigger one, the bigger side, where the screw will go, place it under the lens, the bigger side facing you if your thumb and your index finger, your middle finger if you can reach it to keep it in place make sure it's washed and then screw it on and voila there you have it now you can balance it.
I'm not kidding, that's how easy it is, that's it, that's it guys, now. I'm going to try a 200 d account, if it works, let's celebrate. Okay, so I'm rushing this video because it's now 3am. m. in Singapore, but I'm so excited that I decided to stay up and complete this video. the Canon 200 D and see the world is there 200 E and I have this Sigma 17 to 50 millimeter F 2.8 lens. In the previous video we did this and failed horribly because it was too front heavy, but we were just testing this same camera method. elevator with a screw to the bottom, let's try it right now.
We did it on the 550d which in a normal setup did not balance but with this method it did balance so right now we will do it on a 200 d and I hope it works for all users like the e7 3 D 8 7 s 2 and else all the heavy canon eos RP cameras the canon eos have large lenses this body weighs 435 grams this lens weighs 565 that easy just a A small problem when cleaning the Rolexes due to the rubber, the lens, the rubber cover of the viewfinder, just a little issue, but on the Canon balance I'm just going to take note of the mark on the side here, it's a little bit about 2.2 at the 0 1 mark or so. 2.2 a is actually slightly off 2.1 is fine, soon just lightly touching it, you can't actually delete this if you really want the free space, it's lightly touching this can be deleted if you want.
I'm not going to do it all, am I? I don't really use this, but you can see that it's facing inwards if you remove this plate, it's clear. I think the motors will be strong enough, although I'm not balancing it like that. I think the engines will be able to balance it. just a slight off mark, taking it apart works, it sweats like crazy, yes that doesn't erase so you can do it, if it doesn't work you might want to remove it since you're using the LCD if you're not. I'm going to use the MOTU viewfinder, yeah, it's not very clear, let's look at that different angle, if you're not going to use this mode then that's fine, but if you're doing walking shots, it's always better to do it in this direction, but you can't do it now because it's tapping and you can't do the barrel spin because it's tapping too so let's go to the barrel spin tree yeah it doesn't work but at least we managed to get this.
The settings work and you know if you really want your camera to work you can adjust it slightly so it doesn't get too light or just remove this rubber cover for your viewfinder so yeah it works guys that's a win I finally got it figured out . having an extremely heavy lens versus an extremely purchased light body or just a full heavy setup like the Canon 550d with this Sigma lens that weighs around 1.3kg basically not just the weight of the lens but the size of the lens. Also this is a really big sized lens like the a7 3, tamarins and Sony lenses basically full frame cameras with extremely large lenses are the ones that suffer so this is a win guys I hope you guys If you liked this video, press the like button and the subscribe button. and the alerts button, I'll be creating new settings soon after trying to borrow some cameras for my friends, so thanks everyone for watching and peace.
