Elena was actually my intern when she worked at Shadow Lane, so now she works with me and I love her so much anyway, she was like a help. The first thing I did was play with some click floors. These are from Ikea, they are really cool. It's a way to judge the raw floors of your balcony because, or I could be honest, your balcony floors don't always look the best, especially when you can't have a hose or you don't like access to water on your balcony, how do you feel anyway with these tiles?

They are really well resolved, they fit easily together. In fact, I decided to leave the long, narrow strip untiled to keep costs down. Realistically it will just be like hanging out in the living room area and also because I wanted to divide the spaces. so I wanted that space to be, you know, where she kept things and the tile space to be her home living room, so once we left these tiles I thought, yeah, what a difference. and many of you said a vertical garden that does not need installation so I saw a lot about this and finally decided to fill this small space on Elena's balcony with a staircase bathroom, so this bathroom ladder was $40, we painted the bottom to make it look half wood, half pink terracotta and then I bought these dollar buckets. In the stores we paint the pots the same color as the bottom of the stairs we use chalk paint. I gave him what I could, is there metal?

We planted some beautiful herbs and hanging plants and then I tied them to the ladder with butcher's twine. Now I would recommend that you guys drill a hole in the bottom of your stainless steel pots so that your plants and your herbs and the drainage will keep the water flowing and your plants really happy and healthy. What I love about this IKEA hack is that you don't need to install anything, it looks really beautiful and fills this little corner perfectly. It feels like you could even do multiple stairs. You could do like four if you have a longer space to cover.

Next in this awkward corner was this bench, so Olanta really had this one. Ikea bench in her entrance and it didn't work and she said could you use this for the Balki? Yes, yes, I can, so we also painted the legs the same color of terracotta chalk paint and brought this into the space. Now my idea is here. is that when Elena invites friends, she can break the bank. I put those little sticky pads on the bottom so it slides easily. She can take out this bench, put it in the living room and instantly have extra.

I bought this planter from HomeSense and I noticed that in Elena's apartment she had a cactus and I was a little nervous touching it and I thought: how are we going to get this outside? but she said: oh no, it's fake, she painted it with her. aunt her aunt is a painter and they painted it to make it look so real. s. Recently it was Elena's birthday. I told myself that it was a tradition that she and her mother had flowers when they had a birthday together because she was also her mother.

Happy birthday to Elena's mother, and so we had a bouquet of flowers to start the celebration. first. They're from the dollar store, so we didn't spend a ton of money. We could go all out and get some really durable, weather-resistant ones, but honestly, we thought, because this is a balcony, because this is a rental, how do we add that nice little atmosphere without spending a ton of money?

Don't let the store have some really cool fairy lights. so I would recommend checking them out and again when it gets colder you can bring these fairy lights and use them indoors. You know, if you live in an apartment, you don't have space to store all this stuff outside in the winter, so look around. things that you can use both indoors and outdoors and then we have these flower pots that will go over the balcony railings. I think not many people know them. I bought them on Amazon, but you can look at your local hardware store.

I know. Home Depot has one great thing about these is that they fit over balcony railings so you can have beautiful pots without needing to install anything, so I have to say I'm really proud of this next trick because I think it will blow your mind. This is what balconies have for me, at least any outdoor space. I want it to feel like a living room in Canada because it gets really cold here and we like to maximize the warm weather as much as possible. I thought of a really fun way to turn this balcony around.

In a mini room let's use a hanging lamp. I'm Elaine and I was like, hey, how are we going to do this? We cannot wire the pendant lamp. We don't have a plug here, how is it going to work? We have this beautiful thing. house pendant light, so I cut the wire with scissors and put some electrical tape on it and then drilled into the concrete with a masonry bit and a drill. It's very easy to go to the hardware store, ask them for masonry. drill bit that works for concrete use your drill drill a hole in the ceiling put in an anchor and then a cup hook and we wove this hanging light and it looks beautiful so how do you make this hanging light work because it's hard to do.

You can't plug it in, what are you going to do? We found a battery-powered light bulb on Amazon that cost thirteen dollars. I think this is a really fun way to make your balcony feel like a living room and it's proof that you don't need an outlet to have outdoor lighting on your patio. This is another great tip if you live in an apartment, are high up, and don't have access to water on your balcony. Outdoor rugs are great, but to be honest, if you don't have access to a hose, they are very difficult to clean, so I thought just a little cotton rug would be great because Elena can bring it, she can wash it, she can use it. winter inside your house, making it super versatile and another way to make your outdoor space feel cozy.
