DIY Sticker Storage! (Stencil or Die-Cut Too!)

Feb 27, 2020
Hello, welcome back to Call the Clutter Fairy, where I help you free yourself from clutter so you can live stress-free. I've been getting a lot of comments lately asking how to store things like

sticker

s,

stencil

s, die cuts, things that are flat and went. "I looked through and found some great ideas and one of them I'm going to share with you today. You know, I have these boxes that I love so much. I bought them a few years ago at IKEA on clearance, so I'm sorry I can't make them." I won't tell you where to find them today.

Martha Stewart has a very similar color with many different options both at Walmart at Office Depot and on Amazon so I have the magazine holders in my Amazon store, that link is below and if I ever find boxes that match them I will include them , but you can find

storage

boxes at Hobby Lobby Joanne's Michaels, so look for things that fit your decor, but most importantly fit the item you've set aside, so while I was going through my

sticker

s, most of mine came in sheets that would definitely fit inside this box so I found this idea where you can make custom dividers that are closed on the inside so nothing gets lost nothing falls through the cracks here so this is what we're going to do today.

More Interesting Facts About,

diy sticker storage stencil or die cut too...

I have a variety of stickers here and I don't use them very often so I keep them loose, so I went to Staples and bought a small pack of file folders. This was the least expensive option I could find. I got them at the dollar store in a three pack but they were 24 and I think I got it for 399 so this was the cheapest way to do it and as you can see it doesn't fit the full length. but since I was looking for cheap solutions, the cardstock alone was quite expensive if I buy one page at a time and this is something I can cut down very cheaply and just leave or, if I want to get more sophisticated, I can cover it with some type of coordinated paper to make it pretty, in this case I will show you again a very economical way to cover it and it is using this wrapping paper that I found in Daiso a couple of months ago and it matches my decoration, so I have been waiting to find a good one reason to use it and today I can use it, so the first thing I'm going to do is start arranging my stickers the way I want to arrange that end, as you can see.

I'm just separating likes with likes, so now the categories that I have our letters in are words because for me an existing word is different than having to put letters together. I have baby shower items. I have frames because sometimes I like to frame. one word and I have a lot of those stickers and ornaments so I'll keep them together. I have a lot of little flowery style things that I keep together and then edges, I'm also separating anything, happy birthday because to me that's a whole. something I would choose on its own, but I would like to know how the categories are divided because each person has to do it in the way that works best for them, so since I only have a few sections, I'm going to keep this pretty minimal at 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and I'll have a miscellaneous one, so I'm going to make 8 dividers in this box.

Now I want mine to be self-contained inside this box. I do not do it. I want them lying down, I want them standing up inside, so as you can see, that's not going to work because they're 9 and a quarter inches tall and the box is 8 inches. Now you can absolutely build this so the lashes stick. You can tag it like this every time I make a tutorial. I always want you to take what works for you and discard the rest, but make sure these suggestions I gave you really fit you. That's the best part of this community.
If you have an idea, you get inspiration and then you customize it to your personal needs because my craft room is in a garage. I like to keep things close so they don't get dirty. It's a lot of dust here, so I go. I'm going to cut them so they fit inside and then I'm going to put little tabs on the inside, so I'm going to take my paper cutter and start measuring. I'm going to use my big old giants. here for this one I'll see if I can do two at a time, so I'm going to be a sixteenth of an inch shorter.
Great, I was able to do two at once, your paper cutter will obviously be very different, yeah, okay. Again I only needed eight of these so I've got them yeah I've got them set up so now they're all the same height so what we're basically doing is building an accordion so imagine each section is together so you can You can leave it now. File folders always have a very small area that has been marked so you can open it if you have a lot of them and want to open them. Make sure you keep that in mind before you cut them because as soon as you fold this, it's going to be at a different height, so I hope you can see that.
Make sure to consider that before you open the bottom I don't have that many seals so I won't worry about that but you. You guys know I love the dollar store, I love saving money, however there are certain times when I think you should spend a couple extra dollars and when it comes to shipping tape which I use for crafting quite often, I say definitely spend a couple extra dollars because of the thickness. of Dollar Tree tape is no good guys, I've always had problems with it, it's very thin, it sticks to itself easily, if it accidentally falls back on the roll, it's a nightmare trying to find the end and peel it off, so Spend the extra two bucks and get a brand to make it thicker and you'll be much happier with it, so this can be a little noisy.
I apologize, but I'm going to start gluing them together, okay, the other thing I wanted to say. So a tape on the opposite side of where the natural crease is will make it easier to pass after this. This part will be super quick and easy. Now I'll move on to the next one if you have a lot of these. I don't think there's really a limit to how much will fit, except for the size of your box. Okay here's my last one so now this is what it looks like so here's the engraved part of each one and this is the side that I'm going to decorate again you don't have to do this you can certainly just stick it inside the box this way and start organizing, you can write what's inside each category, you can put a sticker.
This is where you can get creative and work your magic for me. I've had these rolls of paper for quite a while and I'm dying to make something cute with them and since it already matches the box so well, this is what I think I'm going to use. I think wrapping paper is a very inexpensive way to decorate something. like this. I know you can get scrapbooking paper, but sometimes they cost close to $1 or more a piece, where all this roll and this is one big thick roll. this was only three dollars and you know when you have that 40% off coupon it just makes it a really affordable solution.
The hard part, of course, is cutting it to fit. I'm just making a rough cut. You could be very precise if you want, but I'm simply opening the folder on top of the paper and marking where I'm going to go. Now I cheat because I'm extremely lazy, once I've marked it I'll go. fold my paper on that line so I can cut two at the same time again. I get it, I get Harold for being so creative, but you guys, I'm really lazy, so I'm going to go ahead and cut them out and I'm not going to bore you by cutting out all eight at once, but I do this for each of the different colors that I have and then once they are all cut, all three are magically cut.
Now I can cut them and separate them. We divided them into eight separate pieces, now large thanks to no blank space stickers. This is where I saw the idea and of course I customized it for myself, but when I open them, I'm going to fold them in half and this is the exact size that will go in the manila folders, so I'm going to separate them all. This one, my God, I couldn't cut it. This was paper that I bought from Ikea and I bought a lot, but it's definitely. very thin paper so it tore easily, so I finally gave up and Jeff just took the scissors and cut it out, but I did this for all four pieces, I cut them out and then folded them in half and then, one time I had them inside.
A stack is when I got to play with it and see what kind of pattern I wanted, so this is the part that was fun: I had to lay it out and really see how the papers would work together as a pattern, so once I laid it out and I knew that I could start adhering them to my file folders. Now you can use whatever adhesion medium is your favorite, be it tape, oh, guns, dots. Personally, I like spray adhesive. Something I want to mention is fold them in the opposite direction now that they're done, this will make it a lot easier once you have the file folders laid out, just start placing the fold against the file folder and I'll show you what it looks like, but what I do is I took out a box and this allows me to spray safely with my can and not spray too much everywhere, but I put it inside the box and then I spray it.
This first spray was a little tricky, I don't know why, but this way I was able to. just line up the fold, fold it, don't make it flat because what will happen is if you make it completely flat and then fold it, you'll get a weird crease, so use whatever method you want, but line the fold up to the paper. up to the fold of the file folder and then fold it over and this will ensure that you have a flat adhesion of the paper to your file folder, so go ahead and do this for all of your sections again.
I was only eight, but go ahead and do it. It's for all yours and the best thing I like about the spray adhesive is that it's not permanent so you have a few minutes to lift it up if you have a crease and then you can put it back on so I love it. which is very forgiving as you can see this one was a little bit ugly so I just folded it over and made sure it was straight and that's it no problem so now I'm just going to use washi tape to join these seams together this is just it gives it a cleaner look and then i go over those seams and washi tape with shipping tape this gives it a very clean look and also strengthens it as this is where you will touch it the most as you go and will allow for much longer use , now that I have everything ready, I see that it looks nice, it has small sections and it is clean.
I would just add another strip to the front and back, which is what we adhered to the box. and that way it has that very finished look, so I'm going to do it real quick and then we can put it on the box, so I stuck the back washi tape on it directly and now I'm going to take the front. section and do the same thing so you can see basically all you're doing is creating a little floating

storage

area where you can put things to the side so my last piece of washi tape here I'll go ahead and attach this more or less here . it's all set up, I think it looks so cute, personalized and pretty, it's my colors that I already love, now I have my section from the beginning for baby things, birthdays, borders, of course I ordered them alphabetically, I have my flourishes , my frames. and then here's a section I desperately need to purge, but the letters have alphabetical letters and I'm going to go through them and greatly reduce them and donate them to my school and then here I have miscellaneous and last but not least is the word art .
So these are my new stickers, it will be very easy to review, but like I said, you can organize almost anything you need that is flat, so if you have templates, if you have gift cards, if you have them, I don't even know how to die. -cut out frames, this is a quick way to organize, the important thing is to find a storage container that fits your supplies and then you can customize and decorate them however you want to make you such a creative bunch. I really love reading the comments and finding your suggestions don't hesitate to say hello Noreen, have you ever thought about this because it might inspire someone else who hadn't thought about that idea?
