s that don't peel, crack or peel and you can get really vibrant colors that are permanently infused into the material when you wear it and you can create designs with multiple colors, which is what I want to show you how to do today. For this project you will want a Cricut Explorer or a maker of either. works well, we use the fine point blade and easy press, either the original or the easy press 2, and it should be large enough to cover the entire design in one pass. You can also use a heat press, but you can. Don't use a household iron because it won't get hot enough consistently across the entire surface of the surfer. You know its surface area to properly infuse that ink and it's not big enough for a t-shirt design anyway beyond the machines you go to.

To need the Cricut Inch Infusible Transfer Sheets and the colors or patterns you want to use. I'm using red and blue, a green easy press standard grip cutting mat. I'm actually going to use the medium and large sizes for this project. a piece of white weight, program it: cardstock, a piece of butcher paper and that will come inside your fuse ink transfer sheet. I packed some scissors and some tweezers and of course you need the t-shirt, so I'm wearing one of Cricket's own t-shirts. shirts This is a women's XL shirt and I am wearing it so we can see exactly how it works with your products.

Now you should be able to wear another shirt with 100% polyester or regular, but we are not testing. which today we will do that in a future video and of course you need a design so I created this flip flops design because I think it's perfect for summer and it's also perfect for a no fuse link project because we have multiple colors touching each other without overlap and I'll explain all of this to you and how using multiple colors works. You can also use this design for free, so let me show you where to get the free design. how to personalize it with your own name and how to put it on a t-shirt inside fuse ink transfer sheets.

Okay, the first thing we need to do is prepare our design for our

infusible

ink layering project. I have created a special design just for this, which is perfect for learning and is also fun, you will find it on my blog at jennifermcguireink.com. The password, so go ahead and type it in and press Enter. You will find all the files listed in chronological order. as well as separated by various themes and things that you're looking for, the flipflops SVG files, just go ahead and click on that and it will download into your downloads folder, usually, we'll open it up so we can see what it looks like. so here it is and we're looking for the SVG file, so now we're going to go to Cricut design space, we're going to upload that file, so of course we want to click on new project and then click on upload. and then click upload image and click browse and we'll look in our downloads folder for the flipflops backup directory and we want the SVG file.
I'm going to click open and we're going to load it into Cricut design space and this is what it looks like, there's some different flip flops here and we click save and then we're going to select them and insert them into our canvas like this, I'm going to do that a little bit more small, the canvas a little bit smaller with the minus sign in the bottom left corner so you can see everything, so this design has four different styles of flip flops, you can color them however you want, we will focus on this one in the top left corner, like this which I'm going to go ahead and delete the other things that we don't need, so I'm going to ungroup everything and that's going to leave just four groups here and this group and hold down the shift key, this one and this one, these three here that you can see in In the panel of the right I'm going to go ahead and delete them because we're not going to use them today, so we're left with this one.
Now we're going to put this on a t-shirt, so I'm going to go ahead and click on templates and open a t-shirt template, so I need the classic t-shirts and I'm going to change them to a women's short sleeve t-shirt. This shirt is size X X I have already sized this for my project, it is just under nine inches tall and seven and a half inches wide and I think this is a great size for this shirt but of course if you want to make it smaller or larger you didn't use the resize button in the corner, just click and drag it like this and it will do it. bigger and bigger, so let's undo that first and then make it a little bigger so we can see it.
Yeah, I want to put my name on this solid flip-flop right here, so I'm going to click on the text and I'm going to type my name Jennifer and then I'm going to use this kind of circular arrow and I'm going to click and drag until it turns the way I want it. . You can click and drag this onto my flip-flop. so we can see what we're doing and lighting, that actually looks pretty good, so let me scroll up and zoom out a little bit more so you can see this even better, so now you can decide what font size and style you want.
I'd like to use something a little more feminine, so I'm going to go to the font menu while the text is still selected. We can see the selection box around it and I'm going to look for a font that I bought. Previously called Michelle here it is Michelle script is available in design packages. I'll put the link in the video description. I really like it. It is a very nice script font. Now you'll notice right away that it's not the letters that don't connect. and whenever we have a script font, we need to make sure that they are connected and we can fix this by going up to the letter spacing here and decreasing the size of the letter spacing until our letters are touching like this and then we can resize them. again until it fits until it fits our flip-flop and looks good.
I think it looks pretty good right there, so you can use whatever font you want. I recommend you use a script font just because it's nice, this will be a little easier. It's okay to weed it, but since everything is connected, but it's certainly not necessary, that's absolutely your choice and now we need to have it. I want this to not be its own layer, this is going to be cut off. outside of the flip flops, so whatever color is behind the flip flops will show up. In this case, it's going to be a white t-shirt, so I need to cut this out of my red flip flops, so I'm going to keep it up. this text selected so we can see that blue box that we can see here in the menu that is also selected and it looks the way we want and we'll hold down the shift key and select the red flip-flop, so now that it's grouped, we first need to ungroup it , so we need to make sure that it's outside of a group, so just click on a group icon and we'll also send it back so we can see our source, so organize it, send it back, okay, we want to select the text, here we go, there is the text and the red layer like this, so we already have it, we select the blue layer because you can always see it here in the layers. panel what you're doing, so always keep an eye on the layers panel, let's try that again.
I'm going to select down here and this time I got the red layer, so okay and then I'm going to hold down Shift and I can click here or I can click on the source. I'll click here and we know I'm going to get those two layers that I want, so now we have just that red layer and just our font layer and that's exactly it. the way we want, it's very important when you make a cut, you have just these two layers selected and then they're not in groups or anything like that, okay, so we have our two layers selected.
I'm ready to cut, now we are. I'm going to go down here to the bottom right corner and there's an icon that's a slice. I'm going to click on that and at first it may look like I didn't do anything, but I do and you'll see that now you have split results up here. and you have an extra layer that you didn't have before, so if I click on one of these layers, which is this one, when it appears as a kind of black line, here black, but my name is in black, and we're going to delete this.
I don't need that layer, we're also going to leave this one, which is what was cut from that red flip-flop, so now it's my name in red, we're going to delete layer two and this is what We have only two layers left, red and blue, and that's exactly what you want, so we'll layer them using our fuse and cricket ink transfer sheets, not the same way we would do vinyl, however, we'll use the cut and set method. which is basically what I already have set up for you, so what we have here is this red layer and I can move it around and you'll see that everything that's red is here and ready to go and here's a blue layer and you're all set.
If you were doing this, you were trying to create a design yourself, you would have to do the cutting and everything yourself to make this design, but I'll set it all up for you, so this is the perfect non-workable ink project when you want to learn how to apply layers so we're going to use these two and we're actually going to put the blue on top of the red and then we're going to attach it to apply it to our t-shirt and of course I'm going to show you how to do it so we're ready to go we're ready to do this no we need to do nothing else unless of course you're resizing or something, but I think this is the perfect size right now so we need to go ahead and click Create It and we can see that we have our blue layer and our red cape.
Now there are two very important things we have to do. The first is that all the

infusible

ink projects need to be mirrored, so we're going to go ahead and turn on the mirror right now for these projects so, so now everything is mirrored, it's very important to do that, don't forget to do that, the second thing that need. What we need to do because this is a

layered

project is we need to make sure that we have enough carrier sheet to place our layer in both colors, so by that I mean, let's take a look at the red layer, so right now in the red cape I can see a complete flip flop, we are just missing the little blue strap on this one and this one, however we can't see the top right, this flip flop would actually be a little bit taller once we have the blue one, yes Yes If we cut it out like this right now, we wouldn't have enough backing sheet on top of these flip flops for us to put that blue layer on, so what we need to do is bring this down to make sure we have enough. of space to place our layer on the carrier sheet before we press it, so I'm just sliding it down, just clicking and dragging it down here on the mat preview screen to make sure I have enough of that carrier sheet and that's that's also very important and that essentially means that this part is going to have to go to waste because we're going to transfer it to that carrier sheet and let me show you what I mean, okay, if we were right now, let's say we move. this to the other mat so we can put them both together so we can see it, so I'm going to move it to the red map, let's put them together like we were doing it, so first of all We need to have a little more space here too, but we need to have something like if we put this here like this and we put this here, this is where the red layer needs to be so that the blue layer goes on top of it. and I realize this may not make much sense right now, but you'll understand it a lot better when we actually do this, but it's important right now, if you're working alongside me, that you bring that red layer down and just move it to the right just a little bit so I'm going to move this back to a blue mat and this can be cut so it's cut like this and this is going to be cut here now we're going to have a lot of space here for the royal blue part of the flip-flop Okay, so we're ready to do this, go ahead and click continue and we're going to use my Cricut explore air two for this and we want to make sure that we're using chargeable ink as our material, so when I click on search all materials and I scroll down under iron on and use on fuse ink transfer sheet and click done now on my tests that I did before I needed to have my pressure set to two more and I needed to make sure my sheet was clean and I made it using my aluminum foil ball method that I've described many times but I'll also show you when we go to cut it right now, okay, it's time to cut. ink transfer sheetsfuse in our first color will be, let's double check this.
The first color is the blue transfer sheet, so let's go ahead and put the blue in, so this is the Cricut infusible ink and this is the packaging it comes in. I already opened this because I did my test with a tropical floral, so this box is tropical floral and navy blue and if you're not familiar with Cricut and fuse links, you'll notice that we didn't take them out of the package as they look. They are a different color, actually even a different shade and then they are sold colorful, don't worry, there is nothing wrong with your infusion capacity transfer sheets, this is what they look like before you apply them to your project, okay, so we'll use the Navy sheet please, so let's put it here again so it's nice and safe.
Okay, and we're going to want to put it. It comes with butcher paper, which we need for when we actually put this into our projects. Now the fusible ink comes with a layer of paper which is the color or pattern layer. and a liner or a carrier sheet, so you want to place it shiny side down, so this is the shiny side of the side that has the liner carrier sheet, you place it on your mat like this, you want to use a mat of standard grip like I'm using and making sure, as always, to line this up as best I can.
I recommend that you have clean hands when doing this. Minimize oil transfer. Use a brayer so it doesn't get dirty because, especially in this case, it's a nice, pretty solid, we don't want to see anything weird, you know, oily fingerprints or something, so we put it all on our mat and put our cricket going. I'm going to load this up and we'll just use the normal one. a fine tip blade for this project, it's loaded now as I mentioned it's always a good idea to make sure the blade is clean and to do that I just take out my blade like this and press the plunger on the blade always Careful, this is a very sharp blade and I just push this aluminum ball around and it helps me remove any little bits of shiny paper or vinyl, anything that might be stuck to it so it cuts as smoothly and cleanly as possible, that should be good.
Put it back in there make sure it's all the way down and then close the clamp like this so we're not ready to cut this off so let's go ahead and press the button and word of the day is cricket time which is. a word I use when I'm measuring how long something is going to take based on how long it's going to take to cut on my cricket now let's take this off our cutting mat so I want to flip it over take it off like this there we go so there Is this place okay?
Then it's time to make our red layer, so we remove one of the red layers. What we have, we have to get all this out, so every time you open a new roll of imputation transfer sheets there is like a little note reminding you. where to go for directions because I'm sure people will get confused by the vinyl and be stumped and there is also butcher paper here and there is also a fabric sample so you can try things out on the fabric before wearing an expensive shirt . It was a mistake, so we didn't want just one sheet of the two that come on this particular roll and are already cut to size, which is awesome.
I love that here, so let's put this under a mat. just like we did before and I use my prayer to minimize the amount of oil from my hand that transfers to it to keep it nice and clean and vivid, but this machine that I made, look how it looks, it looks great, it's all mirrored. just like it's supposed to be awesome, so there's my name, mirror image and there's the design, so let's finish this and get this off the mat, so we'll start with the red layer and get it ready to go. and then we're going to put our blue layer on it, that's how it's going to work, so the first thing we're going to do is cut out the sections so we don't need all of this here.
Because it's extra, so you can see the layout here, we just want this top corner to be on the backing sheet. We can go ahead and cut it out right now and save it for another project, so I'm going to use my knife to move forward. and do this and I'm going to go straight to here, just make sure you're not too close to the edge of your design. You don't want to accidentally cut off any parts you need. What I'm going to do. I'm going to cut this little corner off a little bit down here because we don't need it even a little bit now that we've cut out our design on our transfer sheet?
It's time to reveal it. What we have to do now is. To eliminate all these negative parts here, then all of this needs to come out of all the parts and what we need to keep is that this part with the sandal can lift it up so you can see a little better and you want to continue with the transfer. sheet this part on this part here and then the stripes here and the strap there, that's our goal so we're supposed to bend it and break it so you can see here if you do this, it will help it come off a little better than the curvature.
You know you're not folding it, that's important and crumpling it here I'm just trying to like it, you can see here how it separates as we move it like this, here you can also see, this is the kind of thing that it goes to refer is going to make it a lot easier when we transfer this to remove all the extras that we don't need. Okay, let's go ahead and try to remove the extras now, so in the corner I go. to separate it a little bit from the liner as best as I can so I separated it from the liner right here and we're going to remove it and you can see it's going to leave our design behind so we want to go ahead and care

full

y do this I don't want that let's break up, oh, I see, because I know I'm staying at that.
Okay, cut some of this extra right now and we can save all of this as well because of the way all of this can be saved. because we can put it on another transfer piece, a liner, it's just that it might be difficult to cut. I don't know if we can cut it out, I guess we'll see, so pull this out, here we go, we pull it out, so now we need to get out of the inside of this like this and we need to get these letters out, so I don't know how complicated this is going to be, I we'll find out together, so we want to remove them, little letters, so they could remove my name with just a little trouble.
I see that the little middle part of the J wanted to come with it so we can fix that and put it back in place right here and press it down and then it looks like this flipped over as well. Let's put this back in place and of course we're going to put the shirt on like this, don't worry if it's a mirror image, what we want to see right now is this, this is the important part, okay, now's the time to put on ours. blue layer, so our next step is to layer our own fuse ink color layers, as opposed to vinyl, where we would take this layer and put it on our shirt and then we would take the other layers and put them on, we're going to layer everything About this. piece of lining from this carrier sheet and then transfer it as a whole, that's very important because pressing repeatedly can damage, make the colors fade and things like that, so this time we want to take the blue section, you know, the blue parts and place them. instead, so wow, now we need to overlay our blue on top of our red, so we're just going to fit them together like puzzle pieces, so the blue continues here, so that's the blue layer.
Can you see that the blue layer is ready to go? now we have to do this, it goes on top and there we have our layered fuzzy ink pattern ready to continue with our project, doesn't it look amazing? So I think now we're ready to layer our infeasible, right? project onto our t-shirt for this one or you need a piece of butcher paper, a piece of cardstock, so we have here, so lay out your paper and cardstock and of course our layered image, our layered design that we have ready for wear. a proper cricket and a fuse hint, so I've got a white t-shirt here that's ready for us to go, we're also going to want us to press it, so I'm actually going to use this little one when I'm going to put inside the t-shirt and also I'm going to use the big one and we're going to put it underneath everything and of course we also need it on our easy press and I'm going to use the original easy press for this because it's important. that our layout fits into this, so this is not on, don't worry, so I'm going to double check that it fits here completely and it looks like it will, so it's very important that we do that like we rotate it a little bit like this , we can see that it definitely fits in there, so it's important that you make sure that your ez press covers the entire design with one press, so I'm going to want to continue.
Go to Cricut and look at what they tell us to use on their calculator so I'm heading to crickets so here's the Cricut Easy Press Heat Transfer guy to have a link to this below the video as well as in my

tutorial

on my blog now we're going to use the original Cricut easy press which is the wisteria one that I showed you and if you're not sure this little link here will help you determine which easy press you have and we're going to use the sheet of fuse ink transfer and our base material is a t-shirt so we click apply and then it tells us exactly what to do so we want to set our ez press to 360 degrees which is the maximum for the original ez press. and we're going to want to preheat our shirt for 15 seconds and this also shows us the layers that we need to have our shirt, so first we have our iron, then our shirt that has a piece of paper in it and then we have our design and then our paper butcher and then our ez press and I'm going to go over all of that with you so let's get back to there we're going okay so we need to preheat this to 360 so we can finish pressing. this temperature button right here and hold it until it goes up to 360, which is your maximum for the original ez, press and set it again and then we'll do it, you want 120 seconds, so I'll press this timer. and hold down the plus key and it will rise in 5 second increments if I hold it down like I do, we want to go to 120, there we go and press the stop button once it gets there, so now it will heat up to the right temperature. temperature and it's very important that you always use the right temperature for your ez press and for what you're transferring and for your material itself, so while it's heating up, let's put this aside for a little bit, we need to get our layers ready to go , so let's set them up here for now, okay, so I'm going to put my mat on our surface, okay, so I'm on our pressing, that's here, ready to go, now the next layer is ours. t-shirt with the paper, so I'm going to open this, so we want a t-shirt with our paper and I'm going to go ahead and I have another easy iron mat, so I'm going to go ahead, put that there, so we want our paper, it's okay this is our paper and I'm going to put this and the easy press mat inside you don't have to have that second mat since I have it so I'm going to go ahead and use it it's a little bit easier for me and I'm just opening the shirt, I'm sliding it like this, okay, you know, I would often use this center point to determine, you know exactly where I design.
It's going to be fine. Normally I would like to iron it right there, but in this case I'm not going to do it. If you want, you can use a ruler to help you determine the correct location, but you can see where the right one is. I want it to be nice and straight, I mean, they're flip flops, so you know, I can't say I'm too worried about this, but this seems pretty straightforward to me, right as you get to the center, okay, so we preheat it for 360 degrees and we have our t-shirt on a clean mat we are going to put the cardstock we put the cardstock inside a t-shirt to prevent it from bleeding through and we can't forget to use our lint roller I want to be sure that the section in which we are going to place Our design is super clean, so now it's time to cover the sheet with brown paper larger than the heating plate and we're going to preheat it for 15 seconds.
Okay, so get up, put your paper here, we're going to preheat this area for 15 seconds, so we're just going to pick this up and leave it like this, we're just going to write and press start. I'm going to watch until I get to 105, watch that a little bit. Oh, 105, so 105, there we go, okay and we want to remove the butcher paper from the top of the shirt like this, so we'll leave it there for now. to place our design down, align its side up, so we're going to place it down like this, so this is our design and it falls on our t-shirt like this, so we want to make sure that we're centering it and we have it. exactly where we wanted to go, so I'm going to use this B right here and I'm going to put it on a line like this, this looks pretty good to me and we can go ahead and do this so that it sticks to our shirt that looks good and then we're going to put our butcher paper on top like this, so we have the design and it's in place and we have our butcher paper here, just like now.
We are going toSlowly lift our press. I'm going to put it on. It may run for 120 seconds and then we'll slowly run it with the butcher paper and then let it cool before removing the liner. Okay, ready. 120. seconds to make sure we are covering our design completely, it is very important that you do not move your Cricut easy press at all and we lift it up from our project, we slowly remove the budget paper and we have to wait until it cools for complete so this It's still hot, so let's wait. It looks like it's cold, so let's try it and take it off and see how we did.
Look at that, isn't that cool, look at that, that's so amazing, guys, that looks amazing. This looks great and is beautiful, it's so soft and clean. I love it, it looks like something you buy in a store, but it has my name on it, it's not that amazing. I think this is going to be super cute and it looks pretty. Very perfect, I see a little bit of wear here, it's a little bit, no big deal, so this is what we had, this is what's left. I don't see anything there that we're going to transfer anywhere else, guys, that's it. exhausted, I mean, the blue is completely gone, there's no blue left and there's a little bit of red left, but that's not it.
It would be a ghost if you tried to transfer it again, so this is a one-time transfer, but you know, so is vinyl, so here's our finished t-shirt, isn't it awesome? Check out this look, look at how beautiful and vibrant these colors are. We can stretch it without any problem, it has no seams, it is very light, it is like a T-shirt. Let's buy from the store, that's right, let's look at the inside so you can see what it looks like on the other side, this is what the inside of the shirt looks like, it looks pretty familiar, right, it looks like a shirt from the store and here we go .
This is our finished shirt. I'm very pleased with it and that's how we would do any layering project, whether it's a t-shirt, a coaster, or any tote bag, anything like that. One important thing is to remember that the pieces do not overlap. they are touching each other, they are barely touching or they are even giving me space in the middle but not overlapping so they are touching or spaced but not overlapping and it turns out amazing that the cricket inks and fuses are completely new and not even in stores still at the time I'm making this video, so everyone has a lot of questions about how they work with width and all kinds of things, and other

tutorial

s, one is about the basics of link infusion and the other is by using the infusible ink markers and pens, which are a lot of fun.
I encourage you to watch those videos to learn more about working with infusible inks and if it's right for you now. I know you might be wondering if you have to wear cricket t-shirts. with infusible inks, no you don't have to, you will be able to find some t-shirts with a high polyester content that will work with their usable inks, but keep in mind that cricket only guarantees results with their products that claim that they are compatible with infusible ink. , proceed at your own risk. Always test first now to take care of your new unworkable ink t-shirt.
Simply machine wash inside out with cold water and a mild detergent. It's okay to put it in the dryer on low heat. Well, and you want to avoid dryer fabric softener sheets and bleach, if you take care of it, your fusible ink shirt can be washed over and over again without fading. If you have any questions about how to cut or apply the invisible ink transfer sheets, please let me know. I know I'm happy to help you, please leave a comment below this video or post it in my Facebook group at Jennifer maker.com. Click on Cricut Crafters and that's it for today.
Remember that if you can tell me what you want to do, I can show you how to do it. do it until next time
