Building & Riding the Backyard Drama Drop 2.0!

Building a new drama drop is not just a matter of

building

a drop to be the drama drop 2.0 you need. to share something in common with the original, firstly, the original drop was built on a slope, which eliminated the need for a purpose-built landing, of course, which made it a bit brutal since, well, there was no a specially designed landing, secondly, the original drop was built. I built this skinny drop ramp that in practice scared more people than the actual drop, so our new drop will need a spur line, which doesn't make sense. I always end up splitting the fillet, so now I need to figure out where the second pole will go. Wow, according to the grade, the drop will be framed with two twelve foot two-by-eights so we can use one to locate the second post.

In fact, I find it harder to follow the plans for a structure like this because the terrain dictates everything. We will attach everything together with small screws and adjust the frame until we are satisfied. There's a big pine root right here that I don't want to cut, so I guess we'll have to cut the board once. We are happy with the structure. We can make it permanent with 5 inch wood locks to match the original drop. We are using regular deck boards from the store. Nothing fancy now to make this look like a drop with a full drop all we need.

To build is the bypass. I saved the original 4x4 post from that Roland, so we'll reuse it for our new bypass to make it harder. The narrow slats make this new drop feel a lot like the old one, but the steeper landing makes it feel a little softer, but one thing's for sure, the new roll is incomplete.
