Break Through The Noise - Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts

Foreigner I have a word that I have been praying for and I pray that it will add value to what God is doing at this stage of your life. I'm in Acts nine verses 10 through 18. My theme is

and uh this point in the text those of you who are familiar with Saul and the road to Damascus and the encounter that occurs there this is right after So for those of you who are unfamiliar I'm going to give you the cliff notes version in uh how can we describe it Saul is a very devout jew and at the time those wayfollowers who had converted to believe that Jesus was the Messiah they start to really convert more and more people.

The devout Jew that was Saul of Tarsus made it his mission as part of being a devout Jew to stop this spread as much as possible so anyone who has converted or any disciple who is preaching that Jesus is the Lord Jesus is the Messiah will literally kill them, tie them up and do whatever it takes. to prevent them from spreading the gospel and while on his way to Damascus looking for more roaders because they didn't call themselves Christians so they were roaders when they searched he was looking for more people to persecute he hasn't met the Lord who literally stops him in his tracks and he could no longer deny that Jesus was Lord so everything he was doing came to a complete stop and after he had this encounter there are scales over his eyes and he is blind and still the Lord says continue to Damascus even though you don't know which one it will be your task go there someone comes the plan that the Lord has for him will be carried out through a man named Ananias Ananias is a disciple who was in Damascus, he is literally the target of Saul's assault and the Lord asked him to go and had a confrontation or what he perceived as a confrontation with Saul because Ananias still doesn't know he's converted.

We got into this. conversation when ananias is going to receive his assignment regarding what God is doing in the life of Saul and verse 10 begins it says now there was a certain disciple in Damascus named ananias and the Lord said to him in a vision ananias and he said here I am Lord then the Lord said to him get up and go to the street called right and ask in the house of Judas for a man named Saul of Tarsus because behold he is praying and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting He laid his hand on him so that he might recover his sight then Ananias replied Lord I have heard from many about this man how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem and here he has authority from the high priest to seize all who call in your name but the Lord He told him go because he is a vessel chosen by me to bear my name before the Gentile kings and the children of Israel because I will show him how many things he will have to suffer for my namesake and Ananias went on his way and entered the house and, laying his hands on him, brother Saul said, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the way you were coming, has sent me so that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit, immediately something like scales fell from his eyes. and he instantly regained his sight and got up and was baptized Spirit of the Living God I thank you God for this opportunity to be in your presence and serve this incredible people of yours God May the words of my lips in the meditation of my heart be pleasant and I accept for you God I thank you that in this moment that you are going to allow us to receive prophecy, wisdom and encounter like no other and that is why I ask God that you allow me to flow in this word with ease and that you would allow this word to flow to the areas where it is most they need it easily, let there be no distractions, don't worry, just a meeting with you and only you, take this word as only you can and elaborate it to meet us and ours. unique way I thank you God that you have great plans for this your people and that this will be a moment of positioning and transformation breathe in this great hall God that you are that your Glory falls and that the moment where you call us highest in the world does not escape us jesus name amen amen family i have to tell you this bible surprise possessions and yes i did mean that even though i knew most people would think because it is just the bible my most prized possession but i have to be honest with you that is really the story of how i got the bible which is the most prized possession i own so i won this bible on oct 31st 1996 i wanted to be at the kids church in a spelling bee yes ma'am thank you so much michael mike is already im trying to amen ok let's try this i want it for oct 31st 1996 and kids church in a bean spelling and i have to tell you as the son of a preacher who grew up in church when you read when you win a bible in a children's play church it's not that i don't know if there are children's ministry people here but i just want you to know specifically for the PKS specifically when they give us the bible it's like oh more words that's because i'm from Monday to Sunday.

I'm up here and this is exactly what I need and I don't know what I did with this Bible. I probably put it somewhere and, um, never, never seen it, honestly, I wanted it in 96 and never saw it again. I think the last thing I'm going to need is to find out where a bible is in my home they have them everywhere oh oh thanks Sean is here she understands and when you come you will see everyone has bibles on their phones. but when we went to church if you didn't have a bible they would give you one they would say if you don't have a bible raise your hand we'll pass you one i'm never going to need a bible as i love the lord he has been good to me but i thought like a karaoke machine a little bit of lip gloss something like that would have been something i never would have won while you know a little bit of mascara so i just put the bible on it wasn't until man 2013 when i found this bible in my opinion It is truly a miracle that I found this Bible, but I think it was what was happening in my life at the time that made this Bible Discovery so important to me in 2013.

I got divorced and moved back to the my parents house with now my two kids and i was going through some boxes in my parents garage and i saw this bible and i thought it was just another one of these random bibles that were lying around my parents house and i opened the bible and it's written by sister cheryl tignor who is from west virginia they were written for the Sarah Jakes Vacation Bible School spelling bee in the first place and I think it meant a lot to me that I found it at that stage in my life because it was gone exactly sure that God had a plan for my life when I found out.

He was already breaking all the rules of the church. I was doing all the things they said you can't do and still experience the presence. of God I thought I was just one of those who would be discarded and right at this moment where I felt I was at my breaking point it's like this bible it's like goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life I don't even I was looking for this bible. I wasn't sure God had anything to say to me, but this Bible that had survived movement after movement and disconnection after disconnection.

This Bible was like it was still here. I'm still available. I'm still open I'm still ready when you're ready and let me tell you how good it is God that he loaded me with something before I knew I'd need it so that when I got to the point where I really needed it the Bible was already there waiting for me Look, most of us are waiting for God to bring us something and God is telling us mainly: I wish you would discover that I always prepared this moment with what you needed for your breakthrough. you don't need anything to come for your breakthrough you just need to take a better inventory of what is already in your world because what is in your world holds the key to the breakthrough you are seeking stop looking around you and stop looking at what it's in you, the breakthrough is already there and what most people call the breaking point is what I actually call the listening point because when you're at your breaking point a lot of people think that's the moment that everything changes that's not necessarily the time that some people go through a breaking point and get broken some people go through a breaking point and never pick up their pieces again or only pick up the pieces they can bear to look at because everything the rest has a lot of shame attached to it but something powerful happens when you see your tipping point as your listening point that tipping point that becomes a listening point is actually where God begins to download his perspective his wisdom his vision of what it can happen from here some of us need our breaking point because it actually brings us to our listening point.

I am reminded of Hannah in the Bible, who kept being teased over and over again by a woman who could have children even though she couldn't and the woman kept teasing her and making her feel insecure. until all of a sudden he got up from the table and it seemed like he had reached his breaking point but instead he went to the temple because he understood that if I am at my breaking point I have one or two options I can leave this or I could win or I could get into the God Press and say God, I need you to say a word to me at this breaking point that changes the way I view everything that is happening in my life.

I'm thinking of Jacob, who began to wrestle with God. and he said i won't let you go until you bless me it seems like a breaking point from the outside looking in but actually it's the moment i insist on hearing from god it's not my breaking point it's my listening point i don't know who you are in this room but you feel like life is trying to break you but i want you to understand that life is only trying to get your attention because god is trying to whisper something in your ear that can only be whispered if you cave in on your ego and your pride and from your shame and your insecurity there is something that happens when we get desperate to hear from God and most of the time it only happens at our breaking point and that transformation that takes place is when I say that this Breaking Point cannot break what God put inside of me, you start praying things like God, if you really hear me, God, if you really see me, God, if you really have a plan for my life, I'm ready to listen. i'm ready to listen i'm ready to obey i'm ready to grow i'm ready to get past this point you can call it a breaking point but i hear god say that's when the grave becomes womb that's when the breaking becomes the blessing that's when the that you went through becomes the weapon is when the breaking point makes you stronger you look at other people's lives thinking they were built right now no baby it wasn't built right now it was broken right now i broke down and started listening and every Every time I started building and I was out of the filter, I would break down again so that God can show me what I did wrong.

There's something powerful about someone who keeps listening even when I keep breaking because I'm crazy enough to believe that if God allows it to break it's because he wants me to rebuild it stronger than it was before breaking is not the end breaking is the end point of transformation breaking is not the end it is the point at which you must become an active participant in the blessing connected to your life is when you stop rushing and you stop doing and you stop creating and you stop manipulating and you stop rushing and you stop from talking about other people and you stop gossiping I used to gossip but then I reached my limit and realized that hearing my story was more important than hearing someone else's story.

I used to talk behind people's backs until I realized I have a knife in my own bed and because I have a knife in my own bed now I start to hear who I need to be connected to and who I need to stay away from and it happened in the breaking point that became the listening point that changed the way I see everything I'm listening again I'm listening I'm listening I'm talking less so I can listen more I'm celebrating less so I can listen more I'm writing less because I need to listen a little more and i know you're used to counting on me but right now i'm in my season of listening this is my season of listening this is not my season of talking this is not my season of being there for everyone else this is my season of listening because the life is trying to praise me and my back is against the wall but i too believe god is trying to make me while life is trying to break me and if i don't listen life might win i might let depression be the end but if i listen , I think the weapon formed against me will pass if I listen I think even though he saved me I should trust him there listen but listen not just break the noise if I just listen I listen because my family depends on it I listen because I can I won't break a generational curse no by force nor by power, but by your spirit, lord.

I can't hear your spirit unless it reaches my listening point. I can't talk and listen at the same time. God, what are you saying about this? Are you saying about my calling? What are you saying about my identity? What are you saying? I am in this room listening to somethingListening everyone else can come in here and be cute but I came here because I have to hear from God God I need you to speak a word God I need you to give me confirmation that I'm on the right path God I need you to turn me back God I need you to change my position that I don't know how to raise this child that I don't know how to build this business God, I don't know how to be a partner.

God, I don't know how to be a grandson. What am I going to do after retirement? God, I need you to. I need address. move but god says you can't move yet cause you need to create space to listen man and you can't just put noise on top of noise one thing i love about god sometimes he will break the noise but then there are other times where he won't compete with your pride . I'm not going to get into a shouting match with your plans, so when you're ready to listen, God says, I've got something to say, man.

My favorite part of the message is when the silence. hits the room because that's when you know it's gotten personal to someone that's the moment they realize I'm getting what I came here for the posture of a listener's heart makes all the difference I often wonder why is it that Even though I was raised in church and I was raised here, I mean, right here, right here where you are in this church, why do I still feel that distance from God? the word of God was being preached here, but then I realized that they are using listening in that context in the purest definition, really faith comes from hearing and hearing the word of God, that means you can be immersed in a room where the word of God is being preached, but if you don't have the posture to really go in as a listener, if you came to judge whether something is really anointed or not, you went in to make a comment, you'll miss Revelation if you went in to make a comment . trial, you'll miss Revelation, but when you walk in and say I really don't care who's preaching, I really don't care who's singing, I really don't care what's going on in the room, all I know is I came. to listen I can get my word in the parking lot I can get my word when I go to the bathroom, but what I know is that my heart will be positioned to listen I want to hear what God is saying to me in this and so if your prayer life is not more than the place you go when you make requests and not the space you intend to listen in, you will think that God does not answer prayers where most of us have had to learn that God does answer prayers, but he does not speak above us God answered my prayers when I stopped talking about him God answered my prayers when I stopped insisting that it had to be my way God started answering my prayers when I started silencing everyone else's voices and who they thought I should be and what they thought I should do was when I clarified when I broke up the noise when I turned the volume down and created a space where I said God if you want to talk to me if I'm on I'm listening if you want to speak a word here I am you have to create space and your life of prayer for God to answer you where you can receive the vision of God the wisdom of God the posture of God's heart towards this situation at the end of the day Jesus said however not my will but your will make point which means that from here God will do it that you tell me to do I listen I listen I am a lesbian steps between seeing and doing is listening I will try in Acts 1.

Jesus gives the disciples the Great Commission, he tells them to go to all the earth to Judea to Samaritan to all the earth and spread the gospel and just when I'm sure you were ready to take off and do exactly what Jesus told you to do he says but don't go you've watched me yet now I've told you what you can do but the middle stage between watching and doing requires to wait for the promise of the Lord, so he sends the disciples into a waiting posture, but he doesn't tell them exactly what they are waiting for, he doesn't tell them to wait until the angels come, wait until someone else, he doesn't tell them give details. what they are waiting for that only he only says wait for the promises of the Lord so they stay in the upper room and they are praying and they are waiting and they are listening they are listening to the moment in which the promise of the father is revealed and what I loved when the disciples are in the upper room and are waiting for the promise of the Lord to be revealed is that they had to be sensitive enough to hear something that could only sound like God. hmm that's why the bible will really always be relevant because it's the only comprehensive book that gives us insight into the position of God's heart when we look at the way God has manifested himself in other people's lives throughout history. history literally thousands and thousands of years ago and we realize that he is the same yesterday, today and forever I recognize that when that same heart turns to me I can expect the same level of coverage I can expect the same level of results I can expect the same level of strength I can expect Expect the same level of Pisces, the same yesterday, today and forever.

That's why a

pastor

thought he could take on Goliath and you think you could bring down the criminal justice system. He is the same God who whispered in your ear the one who tells you you can't. to break that generational curse is the same God who raised Jesus from the dead who says I can raise you from the dead because of what you are going through I can raise that child from the dead because of what they are going through that same God and so they are waiting in the upper room for the promises of the Lord to be revealed and they are waiting for that moment and they knew that moment had come because there came a sound like a rushing rushing wind it was a sound that went through the atmosphere it was a sound they knew it was God because the sound interrupted the atmosphere that's how you know it's God because when God sends you a word it interrupts the atmosphere they were waiting in the upper room and they were listening for something they didn't know what they were hearing but they knew it was time that they were waiting because it interrupted their atmosphere.

See, there's going to come a time somewhere in this service where someone moves on and that's going to be because they got a sound that disturbed the environment. I was feeling a vague depression but suddenly there was a word that disturbed the environment. You want to talk about disruptive thinking that disruptive thinking started with God disruptive thinking said I know what the enemy is trying to do in the world but because I won't let the enemy have the last word I'm going to interrupt the atmosphere of doubt I'm going to interrupt the atmosphere of anger I'm going to interrupt Pride's atmosphere and when I interrupt the atmosphere, you'll know it's me because you'll suddenly receive power when the atmosphere is interrupted.

I don't know whose word it is, but I feel like the wind is about to blow. this place I feel God is about to release a sound in this room that disturbs the atmosphere that has been disturbing your peace that disturbs the atmosphere that has been disturbing your confidence that disturbs the atmosphere that has been disturbing your ability to move in things from God and I hear God say I need you to listen to the sound because suddenly there's going to be a sound like a strong wind blowing and it's going to change everything you've been thinking you better listen to it better listen to it if you're listening to the rumors you might get lost the sound if you're listening he says she says you may miss the sound if you're listening to the news you may miss the sound if you're listening to your grass i miss the sound but i dare you to be quiet enough to listen for a crash that interrupts the atmosphere.

Suddenly I felt power and none of us is sin. I felt strength and suddenly I felt Vision. I suddenly didn't care that there was a target on my back because I knew there were angels behind me. suddenly nervous it didn't matter suddenly the embarrassment didn't matter because I received a word that interrupted the atmosphere you're right I shouldn't be here preaching but the sound interrupted your opinion the sound interrupted my fear the sound interrupted my anxiety the sound interrupted Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Better watch who you're sitting with cause if you fool around and I let out a sound that disrupts your atmosphere you might get a breakthrough because of who you're sitting next to you better be careful when you sit next to me cause i'm listening to something and you know it and hit me because I'm going to praise God for the generations that don't save because they interrupted my sound the sound changes everything the sound changes everything that's why the enemy wants you to keep your sound because if you don't let your sound then you can't move forward if you don't release your sound, then the devil might have your mouth, but the power of life and death is in the tongue. it's going to speak life in the middle of what's happening it's going to be it's going to be me Drop the sound if I'm the only one who won't drop it Drop the sound Drop the sound of Victory Drop the sound of breakthrough I'll release the sound of healing I'll release the sound a power to the next generation i don't need anyone else to do it me and i are enough but one could chase a thousand two of us could chase ten thousand i have someone in this room who doesn't mind letting loose on the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound that says I am not alone in this the sound that says God has my back the sound that says no weapon formed against me will prosper the sound that says I will worship anyway the sound that says i will not believe the report of the lord the sound that says cancer i can't have the end but the sound that says i will enter a territory where they are not used to seeing people like me but the sound sent the sounds to me how did you get here the sound sent me how you wrote it the sound sent me how you did the sound sent me the sound sent me the sound this way i'm here the sound you're chasing me the sound did it for me not all of a sudden the sound sitting here not me I rushed the sound sent me shouldn't I even have this idea, but the sound gave it to me.

I shouldn't even be talking like that, but the sound did something for me. the sound was chasing me everywhere i hit the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound that seven i am the redeemed of the lord the sound that said the sound the sounds i could still use you this time he said i am not finished with you the sounds what do you carry forward the sound says you're still anointed The sound said if you put your life together i could turn this world upside down the sound said you're undamaged well this side said i still have power that sounds sad that could be fire shut up in your bones the sound setting up the sound said it's time to grow up the sound said it's time to start listening to the sound he said it's time to start building the sounds it's time to straighten my head the Seems it's time for me to start acting like what i went through isn't what i'm still going through and i've been walking around ashamed and not proud but i hear god say it's hard for you to come out of who you are. used to be because this sounds has something for you to do foreign i've been i've been i've been down too long i've been quiet too long the same has had me for too long and this next half of the year is about to be the year i don't just see me you'll have to hear me abroad oh sorry sorry but i've been holding on sorry but the depression was crushing my sound sorry im trying to get on the sermon but i feel like someone might do more with sound than I could do with a word I feel like someone could do more with a sound that I can do so well oh yeah Hallelujah Hallelujah it's a sound God I trust you like a sound God I hear you it's a sound God I'll obey you it's a sound I have to change my life for you I give everything for you like a sound Do what you want like a sound that came a sound like a strong wind was blowing a sound like a mighty fight and the sound allowed them to release their sound that sound gave them power to release their sound you were not designed to stay in the waiting season waiting quietly you were supposed to make it move when the sound comes and the truth is sometimes we move a little when the sound comes but there comes a time when that the Lord demands more and in which the Lord demands more of us when we are already out of our comfort zone out of where we think we should be I am already moved I moved when you told me to move but then we met like Ananias who waited the sound and moved according to the sound but now the lord is asking for more i need more from you we make obedience sound so easy but i would like to be obedient once and that would be enough but your obedience builds a relationship with god and if you could be obedient to that then maybe i could trust you more but you have to go back up again on the courage required to be obedient to the next thats why you dont feel qualified even though you have already accomplished something that it took faith is because this time it takes even more faith this time it requires you to do something you didn't even think you would have to do this time God says I need a little more and the Lord comes to Ananias in a vision and says to Ananias I need you to go to Saul of Tarsus I need you to enter a threatening environment,look it's weird because we know the ending from the beginning because we've heard this many times and we know that Saul will end up being an amazing Warrior for the Lord he will be a general in the Kingdom but ananias doesn't know this at the moment when the lord is asking him to get into something that looks like a threat yes ananias was moving incognito but now you are asking me to do something that is going to blow my cover is going to blow my cover i will no longer be The Don't worry, I won't be just the minister anymore, they're going to find out that I have death and layers and dimensions for me, it's going to blow my cover, I'm going to have to start doing dark things that I didn't even know that people know it was possible to let happen through from me, but because God you're asking me for more, you're asking me to expose myself in a way that I've never been exposed before and now all I hear is noise every time I prepare to expose myself I hear the possibility of failure I hear the possibility if i am unqualified i hear the possibility that this will actually wipe me out and take away my wholeness i worked hard to take away my healing i worked hard for god how can you ask me for something that puts me in danger?

How can you ask me for something that threatens everything I've been working for? hearing is noise and the Lord tells him because he was willing to admit where he was stuck because he was willing to say this is where I'm hanging this is where I don't see you're using me this is why I don't I don't think it's possible for the Sir, I have given you an idea. I think that many of us make a mistake when we do not agree with the path that God has for us by keeping quiet and not listening anymore, but he was stopped by the Lord's request and fear of him. he asks in his insufficiency and the Lord gives him a perspective of what he is doing that no one else will understand until God unfolds. moment when God is asking him to do something mysterious and instead of being silent and saying someone else do it instead of being silent and saying I think you picked the wrong person, he was brave enough to seek it out . the mystery you know god wants to tell you the whole plan god doesn't want to blind you god doesn't want to leave you in a position that is going to threaten your well-being god said if you tell me where you are you are stuck i will tell you what your plan is and this is the new testament , but even in the Old Testament, where Moses said, I don't know how you're going to use me, God kept explaining to him that we make it look like God.

I'm just going to do what God is going to do and I say yes or do it blindly we don't serve a God who wants to blind you we serve a God who wants to position you to listen if you could open your heart God says I'll tell you I'm going to put up with you i'll tell you why i had to let that happen i'll tell you what's going to happen to them have you ever been praying for something? bad would happen to your enemy and god says i will make it better i will restore it in such a way that they take responsibility for what happened so don't let your heart become like theirs wishing them bad just trust that if i allowed it to happen it's because it might take you both to a place of restoration but we don't want to listen for that we just want to listen for what will make us feel better but ananias is not married to the things that come out. the way he thinks they should listen to what the lord has to say what i found so powerful i almost ended this moment as ananias even though he had already left and started the journey of spreading the gospel is that he stayed within earshot so that the Lord can always have access to it family we have a responsibility and the purpose that God has in front of us is not to get so caught up that we think we have the ultimate total plan that we miss out on when God unfolds another layer of the plan which means I must having one hand to the plow but the other ear connected to what God may have for me to do next, that means yes, I am going to work on what is in front of me, but I am going to work with the knowledge that at any given time God can change the plan and if God changes the plan I want to make sure I'm on the right side of the plan because I don't want to be working off an old sound when God could be giving something new every day this is exactly what it happens with Saul Saul is working from an old sound Saul wasn't always a bad guy there was a time when he was a devout Jew on the right side of what was happening but then when the Lord released a new sound he was so excited about what God did that he missed what God was doing now, that means you have to stay connected to who God is right now and not who God is. it was in the nick of time because God may have a different purpose for you now than he had then, so you need to stay in earshot constantly asking God what do you need from me now, how can I serve what you need? you are doing on earth now Saul found himself on the wrong end of what God was doing but he sins Ananias to break up the noise the whole reason I chose this message this set this text is because between verse 10 and 18 we see that something powerful happens we see the Lord come to Ananias in a vision we see Ananias express his fear with the vision and then we see him transform into someone who supports what God is doing I chose this text and wish I could explain it in a way that would be in sequence , but the Lord beat us to it, so I guess that's how I'm supposed to explain it.

The time had come for the Lord to amplify the vision and accelerate the pace of the spread of the Gospel and because it was time for the vision. to be amplified for that sound to be amplified he chose Saul as the least likely person because the least likely person always amplifies loudest the least likely person always makes the loudest so when we're worshiping and someone yells you think they're just acting out loud a fool, not only are they acting like a fool they are the least likely person who should get a compliment then the least likely they will always make more noise and when God is ready to amplify something in the world he will always use a the least likely person because the least likely person leaves no doubt, except that God must have been with them, except that God must have touched them, except that God must have transformed them, so if you let the least likely disqualify you, you will be lost that the least probable is actually why God wants. use you because he can amplify from the least likely and when when the Lord lets an eye in I'm not using the least likely because the least likely is going to make more noise for my glory the mission becomes more important to him than the threat oh God help me close close ananias is not going well now i trust him and we can be best friends ananias is so committed to the mission of what god wants to do on earth that he obeys what god says has to happen, not because he trusts him, not because have confidence in who Saul is, but because you trust God more than you trust what might happen if you move in obedience. any progress on going into their spaces where you don't trust people and going into spaces where they can talk about you baby if God sent you into that room it's not so you can make friends with whoever's in that room if you're the one on my way to the mission so baby i'm gonna walk there cause the mission is more important to me than anything you have to say the mission is more important to me i don't trust you i trust god i don't trust them i trust god i trust where God sent me I trust well God wants to use me we don't have to get along I'm where God sent me we don't have to put it all friendly I trust where God sent me God sent me here little does Ananias know that God had neutralized the threat before he arrived I want him to This is the last word for someone before I go I don't know where God is calling you I don't know where God is calling you keep going but I want you to know that you are afraid of a threat that does not exist you are afraid of a threat that the Lord already has neutralized so you can be afraid but I am letting you know that your fear is going to be your audience because when God is done showing you that I already prepared the room before you arrived, I
