Bizarre Official Pokemon Cards You've Never Seen

Jun 01, 2021
Coolridge entries, but against Michael here and I should probably explain right away why I'm not filming this video in front of my usual background of stuffed animals, because Jubilee and I are in the process of moving across the country, so over the next few weeks are living in this temporary housing that does not have its fun background, the Pokémon trading card game has featured some pretty strange art over the years, from a very depressing cubeno to an onyx trapped in a space watermelon and a seductive shape. ambipom with a move called furry chance, but what you may not have known is that the Pokémon TCG, the modern trading card game, is not the only set of Pokémon

cards

that has been released; there was another one that only came out in Japan and featured interesting art which was the Pocket Monsters trading

cards

, yes card ass you heard me correctly, apparently that's the name of the ban dice card vending machines that are in Japan, something I didn't previously know existed, apparently these Pokémon or pocket monster cards were available in these vending machines back in the late 90's in Japan, there is no game associated with these cards like the main TCG, these are simply collectibles, There are one hundred and fifty-three different cards, one for each of the 151 original Kanto Pokémon plus two special ones. cards, one featuring red and base shaped starters and another featuring red and blue and fully evolved starters, the back of each card features information and trivia about that particular species of Pokémon, but the much more interesting front of The card features the original art of that Pokémon by Ken Sugimori, the original illustrator of the art for the Pokémon games, and each instance of a Pokémon on these cards is shown using a particular move, much of this art is exclusive to this set of cards, so for the rest of this video I'm going to go through each and every one of the 150 cards of a species and react to them as a way of showing how strange and interesting many of these Bulbasaur drawings use leech seeds, but The seeds basically look like ladybug eggs.

Ivysaur uses a razor. leaf nothing crazy heard just what's cool Venusaur is using vine whip what catches my attention with this art is that the vines are covered in spikes which I don't think you see anywhere else in pokémon Charmander is using Ember nothing crazy here Charmeleon is using Slash, it looks like this Charmeleon has two big claws and one small one on each hand, while most of the time he is shown with all three claws almost the same size and the one in the center is a little longer. Charizard is using a flamethrower, it seems normal to me.

More Interesting Facts About,

bizarre official pokemon cards you ve never seen...

Squirtle is using remove and what amuses me about this is that usually remove involves Squirtle's head and limbs going into his shell. Here it just looks like a sideways AK with a headache. Wartortle is using a skull bash. I guess a skull bump means hexes appear over his head, which is confusing. I, Blastoise, is using a hydraulic pump and looks normal, maybe a little more hunched than normal. Caterpie is using a rope shot and this one is clearly young because his aim is horrible. Metapod is using harden and looks tremendously different at first, he is grey, which makes him look. as if it were made of metal, but this could be done only to show that it is hardened;

However, the rest of his body also looks different with the top of his head being much more pointed and the two points on the sides running more parallel to his body instead of outwards. much thicker tail stripes going higher up his body and his body width is more uniform instead of being much wider around the head, honestly looks like a bug stealing a Lola form from Metapod, freezes water using powder poisonous and although at first I thought it had an extra pair of wings, it turns out that that only represents it flapping its wings. Weedle is using a poisonous sting, supposedly to me it just looks like he is angry.

Kikuna is using harden and he doesn't look gray like Metapod did, but the interesting thing about this is that he is holding his stinger armed and the only other place he has actually been

seen

doing this is in the original red and blue sprite of him. Beedrill is using a pin missile and is actually launching his abdomen stinger like Mega Sceptile does with his tail, as far as I know. I have

never

seen

this done anywhere else. Pidgey is using a sand attack, nothing crazy here just shows him throwing sand by flapping his wings. Pidgeotto is using a wing attack but instead of hitting or slashing with his wing, he is shooting his feathers as projectiles that Pidgeot is using. agility which looks normal to me Rattata is using focus energy like in the games he's just surrounded by some kind of glowing energy Raticate is using super Fang and it looks normal to me Sparrow is using read and he also looks normal he's just looking at you beero is using Drill Peck spits out its entire body to do so interestingly in the anime, while some Pokémon expend their entire body to use Drill Peck whe

never

a hero is shown using Drill Peck, only its beak rotates.
Ekans is using Read and his eyes are shining as a result of this. It's interesting since the sparrow that uses the same move doesn't have glowing eyes. Auerbach is using acid and this is the first of many cards to feature another Pokémon within the art. Here's Bacchus spraying acid on a Diglett who honestly looks more upset than the injured one Pikachu uses. Thunder now, although its proportions are different from modern Pikachu, that's not the most interesting part since, as we all know, Pikachu's body shape has changed many times over the years. The fascinating thing about this art is that it has a distinctive belly that is a lighter color than the rest of its body, the only other

official

Pikachu art I could find where it has a distinctive belly are its original red, blue and green sprites, but in these sprites his belly is darker than the rest of his body, not lighter, right?
Shu is using a thunder strike and it looks pretty normal Sam shrew is using a sand attack and it also looks normal a sand slash is using a poison sting and I can tell he looks pretty cool doing it. I think it's interesting that he is using this attack by throwing the actual spines at his back instead of just the poisonous needle-shaped energy like in the anime. Tidier and the woman wears a snarl and looks normal. Nita Rena is biting a disgruntled Voltorb, which to me is just hilarious. Nidoqueen is using a poisonous stinger and to do so, the spines actually stick out. outside of his body where there is normally none, they are not shooting, although they are just there, it is quite strange, it looks neater and the man wears a leer but does not have glowing eyes, just like Spiro, née Torino, is using focus energy and looks normal and neat.
King is using a trumpet drill and everything looks as usual Clefairy is using libra, which is apparently used in the same way as the double slap is clefable is using a metronome, a subtle detail here is that he has a single thing like has Clefairy, but Clefable is not shown with that fang. in every other art, Vulpix is using a tail whip and Ninetails is using a roar. They both look normal. Jigglypuff is using sync again. He seems normal. Wigglytuff is using disable and is doing so on a very distressed looking side cover. This also seems like a Frankenstein-esque Stephanie.
Wigglytuff doesn't have a distinctive belly like usual Zubat is using supersonic and looks normal golbat is using wing attack and is using it in the typical way of striking with his wing, this makes Pidgeotto shoot his feathers even more unusual strange is he using sleeping dust but it looks like it's inverted Lee did it on himself and then got really tall as a result the darkness is using a sun ray and although it looks normal I mean I really like the retro depiction of the sun ray in this are. No, while Plume uses petal dance and looks normal, Harris uses leech life and does so by literally sinking his teeth into a Weedle, this is quite disconcerting, in my opinion, you normally never see violence to this degree in Pokémon Para Sect.
Spore, but very strangely, instead of making the psychic victim fall asleep, it is just causing mushrooms to start growing on their head. It's super strange. Venona is using poison powder and it seems normal that she is using Venomoth and she does so by shooting circular waves from her eyes, which is definitely not the case. how psychic is usually depicted Nicollet is using dig and looks normal Dugtrio is using earthquake which is done funnily by just shaking it, plus the furthest head seems really upset about that for some reason Meowth is using payday and It just looks silly.
Persian is using slash and looks normal Psyduck is using scratch and is clearly getting revenge on the other Pokémon attacking me. Golduck is using confusion, which apparently means just extending his hand in anger, speaking of that hand, it has four fingers, while all of Golduck's art today shows it with three fingers. There are a couple of examples of very early Gothic art where he had four fingers. Menke is using a karate chop and looks normal. Primeape is using thrash and again looks normal. In fact, at first I thought he was drawn with forearms like Machamp, but like with Butterfree, the extra.
The limbs are only drawn to convey movement. Growlithe is wearing embers and looks normal, just a little chubby. Arcanine is using lewd again with no eyes glowing and looks normal. I guess it's super cartoony in this drawing, which is definitely not how arcanine looks nowadays. Poliwag is using hypnosis, but the hypnotic Grays are coming from his forehead, not his spiral belly, and I always thought it would come from the spiral belly because that's what makes sense. Poliwhirl is using a water gun, but instead of shooting water from the center of his spiral like this. What he does in the anime is throw it out of his hands like my dad used to do in the pool, although he could just hold his hands in front of where the water comes out to speed it up or aim it.
Poliwrath is using double slap and looks substantially. less polished than normal, it looks like a Poliwhirl with angry eyes instead of a polished Poliwhirl with angry eyes like it normally does Abra is using teleport and I think it's really cool. I like how part of the path is drawn through teleporting him. Kadabra is using Psybeam on a poliwag that curiously, due to the effects of the attack, has eyes that match his belly. Alec is using reflection, which is strangely just some energy around him instead of the usual floating wall. Machop is using a low kick and looks normal.
Machoke is using a seismic launch. but it is not clear if a seismic throw is used on the rock or if throwing the rock is the way the attack is performed. If the rock is part of the attack, then that is a dramatic deviation from normal. Mon champion is using a mega kick and looks normal. Bellsprout is using a vine. The whip and vines are super thin once they are actually their roots that grow very long. This contrasts with the way he is shown using it in the anime, where one simply shoots it from his torso.
Weeinbell is using acid and by the looks of this art. he's doing it in more ways than one he's super elongated and he's just drooling an absurd amount of acid directly onto the floor it looks crazy victreebel is using razor blade and while he doesn't look as crazy as weepinbell, he also looks really weird in the first place his Main vine splits into three separate vines instead of just one. I couldn't find any other victreebel art where she has three vines, also her use of razor blades spins her blades around her body like a helicopter instead of throwing out sharp blades like she does in the anime or like what she does Ivysaur with the same scent, this whole line of evolution in this card game is simply a strange tentacle that uses the supersonic launch of sound waves from its tentacles instead of its forehead, as it is usually seen attacking Tentacruel.
It constricts a very annoying and uncomfortable electrode. Geodude is using a stone throw and although at first glance his body appears to have spines like Nidoqueen using a poison sting, I think they are here to convey motion, in other words Geodude is simply moving downward because he is crashing into the ground as if he were using a body slam, so apparently the rock he's throwing is itself gravel, he's using harden and it looks gray, but it's gray and it's early art anyway, so it's probably normal that the golem is using an explosion, which, oh my god, apparently just means destroying his own body.
Why the hell is he so violent? He is exploding into pieces with his limbs and head dismembered and seems happy about it. This is messy art. Ponyta is using a fire spin with the flames actually circulatingsurrounding his own body. It does not form a whole. it makes a lot of sense but it looks super cool, fast, ash is using agility which seems normal, it just looks like he's running straight at you, slowpoke is using a grunt and it also looks like his jaw is made of putty. Slowbro is using amnesia and looks mostly normal only with Magnemite, a putty-like jaw similar to a slow punch, uses thunder and looks mostly normal, but an interesting quirk is that normally Magnemite's eyes stay at the same level as the rest of its body, so if you remove the screws and magnets, it would be a perfect sphere.
The eye of this manga Meit is bulbous and protrudes from the body. This is not seen anywhere else. Magneton is using supersonic and seems normal. Farfetch'd is using a sword stance that looks like she's dancing with an incredible amount of smug arrogance. add doduo is using a grunt and is amusingly showing off with his next tangled dodrio is using a triple attack supposedly just looks like he's yelling something at the left seal he's using rest and looks normal dugong is using an ice beam in a very unfortunate ditto that have comically become shiny and stiff because they are frozen.
Grimer is using poison gas and mud is using mud, both of which look normal, the shelter is using supersonic and again looks normal, a cloyce sightseeing spike cannon and like a drill, he's actually shooting a part of his body that doesn't. We see it come off in no other medium. Gastly is using Nightshade. His eyes are much redder than normal, but I think that's because he uses Pokémon Nightshade on it. Animes that use that move are often shown with glowing red eyes. Ponter is supposed to use hypnosis, but it does not show the spiral energy waves that he showed Poliwag using for the same moon.
Gengar is using Dream Eater and this is probably the funniest art out of all of this. he said he's literally eating a Snorlax it's a dream about food that's funny onyx is using rage and looks normal sleepy he's using hypnosis and just like Haunter he's not shown shooting any kind of energy he's just looking at you hypno is using meditate and also shows off his impressive hip flexibility graeme is using guillotine in another did, oh poor thing, Tingler is using a crab hammer probably in the same ditto, hitting it so hard that pieces splatter, geez, some of this art is tough.
Voltorb is using a light screen and both Voltorb and the light screen are visible. Much like how they appear in other media, Electrode is using blast and Gollum is actually breaking his body when he uses the attack which is wrong, the execution is using bombardment and interestingly this execution is more like how the species appeared in his red and blue elf. where there is an egg that is much bigger than the others the exeggutor is using stop playing the whack-a-mole game with a Diglett cube he is using a grunt and I think this art shows most of what it looks like the head of the Cubans under their mother's skull. fascinating marowak is using bone meringue and looks normal hitmonlee is using a jump kick and hitmonchan is using a counter attack they both look normal like a tongue he is using a punch on a crying bell which like on his own card is extremely elongated and oh my god, cough is using self destruct and has torn his own body into pieces with a smile on his face, this is probably the most disturbing art and this whole set for me, this cough has simply torn his body to pieces with a smile on his face, now I know that electrode and The golems also separated their own bodies, but the electrode seems that the two halves can be reattached and, although the dismembered golems, the head and legs are quite uncomfortable, there are still body segments distinct ones that look like they can be put back together, while the cough looks torn apart. a wine glass like that doesn't look like something you can fix by reusing he's using mist and thankfully it looks normal Rhyhorn is using focus energy and the easel is using knock down and they both look normal Chauncey is using Singh and again it looks normal Tangela is using constriction on a crime Psyduck Psyduck the same and Diglett get really beaten up in this set Kangaskhan is using a dizzying punch that apparently looks a lot like the sky hook Horsey is using a smoke screen and Sidra is using a water gun, they both look normal Goldeen is using supersonic and it looks totally cool, we just learned that his supersonic comes from searching for his horn using a horn drill and one interesting difference in this art to most search depictions is how thin the red stripe is on the lower part of his body most of the time is shown a lot.
Thicker Staryu is using Swift and seems normal. Sharmee is using a water gun, but water is coming out of the center gem of it. In the Star Bees anime, the water gun is always shown sticking out of the tip of his upper limb. Rhyne is using a barrier to stop a war turtle attack. The cycler is using a sword stance, so apparently this poses that the dancing spell is using a charming kiss and has its original color before it was changed due to the racist controversy. the electricity coming out of his antenna instead of his magmar fist he is using a flamethrower and seems normal.
The pincer is using a guillotine with his pincers bent so far down that he could attack something directly in front of him without leaning, which to my knowledge is never shown. able to bend his pincers that low anywhere else Toros is using knockback again in a very unfortunate side deck Magikarp is using splash and Gyarados is using hyper beam, they both look normal Lapras is using Singh despite having no musical notes around him like Chauncey and Jigglypuff did the same, he's using morphing and is apparently frustrated because he can't decide which of the chant starters to morph into this art is pretty weird, like three different heads come out, that's weird.
Eevee is using a tail whip and looks normal. they are poured on it using mist and it also looks normal. Jolteon is using a pin missile and a pair of spikes he shoots are actually shaped like lightning bolts, so that's a fun fact. Flareon is using fire spin and seems normal. Porygon is using a test attack that apparently involves him. enclosing itself in a kind of electric tetrahedron. I have no idea why he is doing this, plus a tetrahedron has four sides and four vertices. What does that have to do? A triple attack on the knight uses a water gun and looks normal on the star. spiked cannon and as if he were drilling cloyster he is shooting out parts of his body that we don't see come off anywhere else.
Kabuto is wearing Harden and the normally brown shell looks very gray. This is evidence that Metapod was only gray because he was too. using harden also the dots on his shell are yellow circles here instead of the usual black dots Kabutops is using slash and looks normal Aerodactyl is using wing attack on a slowpoke that has the belly of a Slowbro, interestingly Articuno is using blizzard and looks like normal Zapdos is using thunder that oddly comes from his feet Moltres is using an air attack and looks normal. Dratini is using bind a Charmander. Poor dragonair is using dragon wrath and I must say the energy dragon looks a lot like Agario.
Dragonite is using a hyper beam. out of his antenna when he is normally seen shooting it out of his mouth neo2 is using psychic which apparently just means lifting rocks into the air also his proportions look a bit silly in this art and finally nu is using a metronome and looks very cocky while doing it. So there we have it, all the cards and the Bandai Card Ass Training Card Set. Thank you so much for watching these rare cards with me and if you enjoyed this video and want to see more of my fun Pokémon content, I highly recommend this video here.
