Mar 07, 2024
Hello and welcome to day two of Royal Ascot. This is the preview of the

best

bets

from Time Form and Sporting Life. I'm Ben Linford. I'm joined by Matt Brocklebank from Sporting Live and Matt Garner from Time Farm. Thank you for joining me, gentlemen, and we. Unfortunately we are going straight to the Prince of Wales Estates and we are interested in the runner this morning with Lord North eliminated due to fast ground but we still have a six strong field to post so I am going to ask Matt. Gardner, are you with love or are you with a gun store or something else?
best bets for royal ascot day two
I have been and have been in this career for years to be honest and I mean there are pros and cons, I think whichever way you look at it. Love fundamentally, I mean he's temporarily rated 126. Under the right circumstances, I think he could be like a 130+ horse. I really like him, um, the problem is the comeback on firm ground, 10 furlongs, that's really going to be your optimal, um. Armory, I was pretty nice earlier in the week, but if you look at his record, he's never run anything firmer than good, whether that's ideal for him or not I don't know, so obviously he goes a lot north as you say.

More Interesting Facts About,

best bets for royal ascot day two...

It's a pretty big blow to the race, I'm tempted to defend Sangarias and he's a horse that hasn't delivered on that early promise, as he knows he won the Hampton Court Stakes a couple of years ago. being a 120 source at the time and he's obviously been frail, this will be the first time he's had more than two races in a year since his junior campaign and you see older horses that when they finally get a bit of a run can just bump up their ratings a bit and soft terrain, too aggressive driving with a low sound last time did not see the

best

effect, um, if the two market leaders simply run a little below par, I think sangaris at a price, if you can just take that step up, yeah, I think you can, you can be in the mix, okay, Matt Brock or Bank, how do you see?
best bets for royal ascot day two
This is firmly in Aidan's grasp. Yes, it is, isn't it? um, you have to be excited to see love, obviously, um. The way this season played out, we had to sit and wait, we had to sit and wait, obviously we're still waiting for Tanawe. Now love and Tana were very high, very prominent in the stakes for the arctic tree, meanwhile. I had horses like Mishrif and horses like St Max Basilica that went out and won and really showed their credentials for potentially a shot at the ark later in the season, but now it really feels like it's all going to continue with love and we also see here with that so far a bit of form because we have odaya, who turned thirty in France last season and I like james sanchez philly now backing his first time to beat these two hot pots from o'brien probably not the most sensible what can I do, but I wonder if you know that she went and beat Chad Brown's hustling Paul, who is a real Philadelphia superstar in America, she beat her in the breeders' cup at Keeneland, a very fake Russian backyard and that has probably been underestimated. a little bit and I really like her now for the first time on a really fast field, while she was steady when she won at Keenum, but we all know these Phillies tend to take a little preparation and real money is on offer for these beliefs towards the end of the season, the fall and until November, so I briefly see him take out, but I'm half tempted by Odaria, but even now she likes him sort of eight to one.

Well obviously with Lord North House so we're not going to get that monstrous price, I think yesterday I had 14, or certainly 12 in some places, so I can pass up the main run of the day, especially with so many good hunts. opportunities elsewhere, well I'm a little disappointed that you two have made cases for sangarias and ardaya because my bet from the days in the prince of wales is that I think this armory, yes, I think it's a great bet , even you know with lord. north and now you're winning five to two, so impressed with his final effort in the Huxley Stakes, the way he ran away from Sargarius and with the love that comes from a 300 day layoff and maybe working backwards from the tree pre-charmed and things like that I just think today is the day for Emery, he is the horse that is now going to step forward and greet the world, so yes, the armory for me, my bet for the day, but come on to you two for your

bets

of the day now matt gardner we will go with we will go with you first yes, my best day is matthew flinders uncut and he is a horse that I think has been firmly on the radar for this race for quite a while, in a Straight mile, I think it's going to be absolutely ideal for him.
He had two goals in the first straight mile at Doncaster last year and then finished third on his comeback at Newbury in a really strong race beaten by Danyara and Pepita and two horses that had the benefit of a previous race, were better placed than him Also, he came from quite a distance back and only surpassed him in length and a half, I thought he had at least as good shape as the previous two. In the week he was around the 14 to 1 mark and I think if he had come here straight to Newbury he would have the price he has now at about eight to one and I think you can completely rule out his run at York and actually he ran too freely and I think that excuses his sort of fairly tame finishing effort and we know that Ascot's straight track suits the strong strength of the traveling starter and that is absolutely what attracts him in the middle of the park and his pace is definitely high and probably along the track as well, but obviously you can pick his spot from there and I think you know he's definitely some kind of horse that you can see coming across the field up ahead, so he's been clipped. obviously he's already on the market, but i think the circumstances are absolutely ideal for matthew flinders matthew flinders for matthew gardner and matthew brocklebank where are you going? matthew Aiden o'brien um yeah I'm going to go into our queens where o'brien seems to match Henry Cecil's record in this race goes for an eighth win in the queen's house and he's not always winning with the first chain now and I am with Kiprios, he is potentially the third chain, but he is certainly the second chain because they have words. here, but he's only a couple of pounds shy of that stablemate in the official figures and he's very much a horse that has to recover on a recovery mission, but I think there are reasons why we might see that today.
First of all, he is undefeated on the right turn. He was really impressive at Galway in a maiden last year, the ground was heavy that day but he was kind of pushed forward as this will be a derby horse for o. 'brien next season and unfortunately he came to Newmarket um in the zeppelin the Flying Zetland Stakes and he was well beaten, it was soft ground and he looked a bit slow, so he's had a really back and forth campaign and this time he won for the first time time with Corki again. He seemed very green under pressure, but the interesting point here also is that Shamey Hefner was also in both wins, so there is a lot of things that come together today to suggest that this horse.
Suddenly he could have a big personal best because he has to recover from the race at Lingfield where it was soft ground again, they tested him with cheek pads and he was a bit loose, it was a flat final effort, but it was a strange old day, wasn't it? ? We had a 25 to one chance when the um the Oaks trial that day and obviously the third round was due one day. I went out and won the derby, so strictly speaking I'm not particularly prepared. reading in that way is kind of a strict view of that way, so I think it's capable of doing a lot better and Fr

ascot

did as well.
He's obviously closely related to Free Eagle when the Prince of Wales is up for grabs and uh I'm I'm absolutely sure he'll appreciate this step up from a distance because he's actually a full brother to the Chester Cup winner this time, Dermot Welds um Falcon 8 um, who also ran well at Ascot last season. He was second in the uh in the. long distance cup so I think a son of Galileo a three year old son of Galileo from this yard on a decent piece of land and the real scoop that you helped running some figures is that uh edna brown takes the cheap pieces that we think about that we would have to dig a little deeper in terms of statistics, well he did it twice last season, he had cheap pieces and he took them away and both times the horses won in their next starts and uh in general the strike rate as well It's quite strong, so I quite like that wide angle, which is negative.
I would have to admit that it is actually the widest of them all at 15 and the curvature is quite pronounced here on the queen bars. um, around Ascot, this trip a mile, six and a bit, but I think that's factored into the price and they'll probably leave it there anyway and I'll side with Shamie Heffernan making a late bid on the outside in this. horse that I think has a little more to offer and the aforementioned Falcon 8 could win the closing race on Saturday, couldn't the world do it? And he's there, isn't he? Yes, and the owners themselves, yes, so we'll see, thank you. matt gardner and matt brockelbank a summary of the best bets mine was the armory and the prince of wales is the 420 matt gardner goes for matthew flinders in the five o'clock the
