Andrea Corr - Something for the Weekend 2011May 09, 2020
like a celtic family quartet who rocked the 90s now solo and remember yeah okay we're all here to cook up some gadgets and peek at next week's penny buy this is
weekendwhat great memories i was just saying i could sing every one of those songs now all the words there is hope embedded in you i think they are all so familiar so welcome just
andreacalls how it felt to watch back over consumers is such a big word you've got that yeah it's pretty surreal to be honest I mean yeah quite a while back some of them like run away was our first video and single so it was all really new and I see this as you see it now. good memories of those days, yes, very good man, yes, yes, I mean you met everyone, didn't you at that time?
He was so big in the world, you know Nelson Mandela, I think we have pictures of Nelson Mandela and you know the Pope. and paparazzi bonus you know i was just with everyone at the time and now and now it doesn't feel weird that that time existed for you well yeah the longest consideration is yeah it's a little more it's a little more God like I said you know it's pretty surreal but um gosh you know it was cool like it's a pretty natural transition for you guys even though you don't win singing together you're on tour with mom dad so just singing with your family I guess It was a great moment. of a natural progression, chances are now that you look back and realize how successful the colors were and what you achieved when you're in them, it's like you get a little carried away for the moment, isn't it? ?
Home was quite strange because both our parents were musicians and I was really into music and it was almost inevitable that we would get together and form a band and to be honest I think we really had a blind trust. about it and you know and our dads would In fact I would say almost every year you know 1995 the quarter ruled the world that didn't work out in 1996 and he would go ahead so yeah it seems like it is but it's pretty crazy so when we did what, when was it and what time. it was the decision to not just break up cause like they were i mean i know they broke up but to stop yeah i think before me how did that happen? to like you take a look at personal life and you know and you know carlin was having a second baby and she became while pregnant both kids and you know and they both shared as kids and jim has a kid too so he really is a little was at the beginning like that's really we should do that now we should know maybe we got back together at some point to tour and make music that we could do yeah I mean I think you know we share that passion and you knew I thought that what we did together was great and maybe we'll want to shoot.
I'm excited about how you find being there this time alone and you miss the family or it's a fairly new experience and a nice walk, well you know I miss them but you know this is my second solo record. so it was more dancing the first time, to be honest this time i mean i do, yeah i could be quiet back then and now you should be quiet if i absolutely did. I did a couple of interviews with you between your first solo on it and this one which was about a minute you packed a little bit of music that's right yeah well I think just because you know from doing it all the time you kind of know that I realized you know I'd look at my friends and see them all using, you know, iPods to listen to music and I was like, oh my gosh, I'm not doing this and when, like before we were in the band, I'd listen to all the weather.
I don't get a quick song and before school in the morning, so it was just Christ, just k. It was a revelation to leave. I have lost that innocent love for him and I think that until I find it again, I will until I took a break. You took a year to learn French pourquoi basket. I will do French. I won't know what you are, so I'll stop there. But. You know what I just wanted to do. It was not a year to learn French specifically. to be just a normal girl and i also want to say that i wanted to use my brain to be a wife, why do you think i'm making little friends? because I think it's a beautiful language that you know and use France, just to keep all of that, okay Jonny, that's going back to music.
G all I want is to feel sorry when I cook. You will see it later. Serbian cuisine. French, yes, it's Richard. I'm sure the music industry has changed a lot since you. I know you, you were on the course and I'm sure even the students of your first solo album have gotten going and there's a lot of competition out there. now, because you know iTunes and the internet and everything it does, that's a little scary, you know, when you've had so much effort, do you want to continue like that, do you want to continue in the same vein? well to be honest I'm kind of just really driven by music and you know my love that I'm a singer and I write so that's what I do that's what I'm going to do you know I am you know my my drive is not to stay be at the top of the charts all the time, although it's nice when people love your music, but really it's about making records that I'm very happy with and you know how to fulfill myself and what I'm supposed to do ok new album is a cover album you have chosen it because you enjoy listening to it or because you enjoy singing it well it's because you know when I said before that I liked to listen to music all the time when I was younger and you know how to make this kind of revival record the passion that I had had and so really the concept being After that, you know the way that music is unique in that it allows you to almost vividly relive what you were going through when you used to listen to a certain song, when you play it back to put, you remember that any broken heart is falling. love and so they've all been pivotal moments in my life either anecdotally and emotionally or just musically but they've all had a huge impact on me okay we have a clip of you singing state of independence no and you know less than your individual lifelines the album is out now there are some more enjoyable songs to sing than others Louise and and and really nice and yeah guys you actually know why this is a bit of hard work or I don't like the The way I work, I wouldn't put it on the album if that was the way, but you know, I think you know what I found out about Dimas.
I was always a bit used to singing the songs. I've written or the family had written and you sort of flex being in a successful band or whatever you realize when you're singing it's you almost trying to prove to the theoretical company that this is a problem it's pretty , it's really quite strange and while making this record was just luxurious and you know I didn't have any of that pressure, I'm sorry just know if you did it just make sure you still sound like you like it not only vocally but also the actual sound of the track and that had something that was in the style of what you've done in the past no you don't particularly know I think my voice is always going to sound like my thoughts but that's what we'll know how to combine combine it all or whatever whatever but I think you always know when it comes to songs you know my focus is singing lies and I'm producer John Reynolds I think he thinks the same thing it's very much about story so everything you do is for emphasis a even more the story and you know whatever you're trying to say inside mel issa ballerina you're gonna cook a little with me later you ain't gonna be no more for pudding yeah yeah if you got any questions for her orangie marcus berg stones weed in fftw mail email that bar website bbc all uk / something for the
correct weekend and get the dates and listen like king deuce no no no you guys one of them is how to say sorry oh my good i wouldn't know you say oh I see or remember so remember it's a conversation about forgiving you all this could be nice with a little more time to rest this for at least ten more minutes yeah always wrestle with me well there's always our shimmy, but we don't look for him on TV, no, he's a good man, he's fine, he likes his food, I know how I feel. as if you can regularly buy the smart bracelet.

I think I love cooking, but desserts. I'm not the best I follow the recipe I was trying to make a pie and didn't really understand blind baking. I put it in blind bakers and looked at the work. So what kind of things were things to cook and all I really do? i eat good roasts on sundays and i love fish and d a bit more mediterranean like myself and think what is better your cooking than your french oh god i dont know well well what we are going we will make a dessert here our way we are doing it is a big pot of chocolate may as well I ask you a question about desserts before I get into that, although when you're trying to open a restaurant the last thing on your mind when you're doing your menus is dessert, no it's not because when you're opening a restaurant you are going to be reviewed yes uk probably has six important documents we are only going to send in their totally in
corruptible top review will tell you to report in your restaurant step 4 everything you put on that menu has to be good and mean something ok first menu ok let's get them out of the way you can't leave desserts just forget about one looking care more about it the salty dish until dessert comes no i like salty but end a meal with a good plate, you know? really a good way to finish for him a very big pot of chocolate can't go wrong can't go wrong milind the way every man does i mean i mean make heavy cream look at the website make cream in the in the pan okay, pause, chocolate, can you start with the type of chocolate you want? you want you know not so not so heavy you know the medium not so rich you know me not so yes and a hot and dark and bitter it's up to you right you can always start there and go there well i ed york's sugar and some hazelnut liqueur makes the mixture of custard we're doing really so it's like mascarpone to finish off with some crushed hazelnuts and a little more liqueur here on the side darling when you put in an irish boy and as always or is there a care everyone around the corner isn't there a feeling of that you just sneaked into TRAI?
I didn't put all the sugar in it to whip it up as fast as you can. Not all alcohol just enough to give you a bit of that. I think you need your wooden spoon in there and you like to mix this chocolate a I'm doing this yeah how long have you been putting this in? Just get it to the point where we can go to a milk and cream fuse ok remember I have a fast day yeah we put some egg yolk with sugar. of alcohol, yes, just cut this, cut this, the silver, by the way, it's always good to use the wooden spoon.
I can make a lot of air bubbles if I say you want a nice custard that you don't put airport finished on Oh Richard it was a whisk in my bowl that's why I used it should we just leave it here? true no other two together there what was going on the one you don't know their chocolate sorry the chocolate below is there. I dare not put it in the cold. just a parody we look for our own pudding fight when our races fail that's what automotive adds yeah that's Andre beautiful okay ok thanks i mean it's a pretty simple mix it's a simple mix for the house for calls when they were all together as one big family we all cooked and sang at the same time that note no but my mom did well yeah so kind of a recession really but we all like to cook in the earth, which you'd have if they hadn't made it a news story.
She thought that she would do anything other than music. I guess we would have gone to college and discovered something along the way. I did a little bit of drama I think I actually think your life is kind of inevitable There are certain things you'll just end up doing, you know? Yeah folks, you've been doing any real avenue, who you like to do that team? Do you have more stuff? and no i just finished the jane eyre and dublin occasion in february so it's um it's the music right now but say you know i love us no one does it right whatever in the ritual therecipe makes six pots of chocolate, we only have four here, we put in some hot water. it's a murray ban which is basically a water bath but the coloraturas are tombery ok not the oven and i baked and who's translating one for me today all that year of learning french all went well i was going to need a bag, it was worth it, woohoo, one has a line with headphones, what's your money?
I had a teacher, yes, did you do it in France or in England? No, here in London, she was French. in the fridge I like to eat them warm in the fall and winter they're really ready yeah yeah yeah they're in the oven and here's one we made earlier yeah we just took it out 20 minutes ago yeah they're really nice , only serve warm in the winter amazing with the winter but in the their Again you can put them in the fridge right? I just haven't called them beautiful almost like a pot of chocolate mousse which is a wonderful way to eat them so every Friday night it's cream yes this is mascarpone just better lots of harmony here. and a little hazelnut liqueur there Alec here yeah come on okay and a little bit of his nose is okay too that's right and you don't need much just a little bit in yeah okay jumping in her nose on top and then we have the raspberries to garnish on the side for Angela to come over can you try this should go here I need you to describe us in French haha add the pressure continue please thank you come on ok we are on we can see the Hush, we're living for chocolate that's rich after all, guys, you like that, oh boy, okay, in Wayne's absence, a molecular mixologist Christian Stephenson is going to conjure up a rum cocktail you may not have seen before this on top of the gadgets and riches final dish which is a wait on hold chain where the oysters beat me to the style and who will be the one to taste them potentially depends on how much time we have essentially or having fun is a great introduction to A nice addition is that Alright wretch I should cast wow I think Jamie is down for Laureen.
