, and everything you need to know about the iPhone 12 pro max. Now, the first thing you will notice after holding the iPhone 12 pro max in your hand and using it is how huge it is. I mean, there's no way around it. It's a huge phone. We have this 6.7-inch OLED display, and again, it's the largest Apple has ever made.

So I would recommend using accessibility, especially for things like the control center, because most people, you know, will have to use two hands here and use their left hand or their right hand, if you're left-handed. lower the control center from the top. Good. But with accessibility, if you just swipe down where the home bar is, that will invoke accessibility and then you can go ahead and activate the control center with one hand. So this is extremely beneficial and very useful. I don't use this feature on any other phone. I never really felt compelled to use it.

I never felt like I needed to use it, but with the iPhone 12 pro max, it's so big that accessibility is definitely one of those features. I'm going to take advantage of it a lot. Now, if you don't have this enabled, you can enable it by going to your accessibility settings and then down to tap, and then you'll see accessibility right there in the second option. And I would definitely recommend having it enabled and also using it to easily access your control center and also your notification center. Now, another thing you should know about the iPhone 12 pro max is that we have a larger image sensor on the back.

So the camera array is huge, but that's because we have a 47% larger sensor than even the 12th Pro. This lets in more light and produces much better photos, especially in low light. So you should definitely go out and test your 12 pro max in low light situations. Of course, it will work great in any situation, but it will especially shine on even something like the 12 pro when it comes to low light situations. Now, another feature exclusive to the iPhone 12 pro max this year is sensor-shift image stabilization. This means that the camera sensor actually moves inside the camera to compensate for any movement.

And this makes photos and videos even more stable, which is huge because iPhones, you know, any iPhone from the last few years has already been great at OIS or just, you know, stabilization. But specifically with the 12 pro max, it will be much better because we now have sensor shift image stabilization, and this is the first iPhone to have this feature. And, you know, this is usually a feature found on high-end mirrorless cameras. This is not usually found on a smartphone. And I would definitely go ahead and take advantage of that too. And just know that that's a feature of the 12 pro max this year.

Now, speaking of great videos, you can also record Dolby Vision HDR videos on iPhone 12 pro max and up to 4k 60 FPS. So if we go into our settings here and then go down to the camera and then record video, you'll see the option there for HDR video. And as you can see, it claims to record video at up to 60 FPS and 10-bit high dynamic range, including Dolby Vision. So it's definitely something you want to enable and just want to play with, of course, not all displays are HDR. So if you try to watch an HDR video on a non-HDR display, it will look very dull.

So you can go ahead and turn it on and off depending on the situation. But of course you can also do this in 4k 30 or 4k 60. Now one thing you need to keep in mind is the file sizes of these videos. So you can see a breakdown of all of this right here if you record in 4k 30. You know, one minute of video. It will take up almost 200 megabytes of storage. However, iOS is smart enough to know that when you enable HDR, iOS automatically switches to the high-efficiency codex. So if we come back here and go to formats, you'll see that it's changed to high efficiency instead of more compatible, which will also help reduce storage.

You know, the amount of storage these videos take up. Now we also get things like smart HDR, three with the iPhone 12 pro max, which is new this year for all iPhone twelve. Here we also get night mode, portraits, night mode time lapses and many additional features. So the video camera and photos, photographs, will look great on the iPhone 12 pro max. And I know I'm talking a lot about cameras, but that's because the iPhone 12 pro max camera will be the biggest difference from the regular iPhone 12 pro. So I have to mention the improved telephoto lens this year on the 12 pro max.

Now it's the equivalent of 65 millimeters with 2.5X optical zoom. And the average professional has a 52 millimeter equivalent telephoto lens with two So you will get much better performance on the pro max compared to the regular 12 pro. You'll also now get a fiveX optical zoom versus fourX on the pro. You'll get 12X digital zoom vs 10X on the Pro and also up to sevenX digital video zoom vs six X on the regular 12 Pro. Now, another thing to know about the iPhone 12 pro max is that we don't get iPad in the West gestures. Unfortunately, that would be nice for such a large screen, but you still need to know how to navigate through iOS with all the adjusters.

And this will mainly apply to those who came from an iPhone seven plus an iPhone eight plus, or simply a device without a home button. Then, of course, you have the control center at the top right, the notification center down from the middle, of course, to access your apps, which you just lift up and hold there to close the apps. Simply swipe up on the app. There, you can quickly enter and exit applications by simply swiping on the bottom bar, the home bar at the bottom, right there to quickly switch between these applications to turn off the phone, volume up, volume down and then hold the side buttons, volume up, volume down, hold the side button which is new too.

If you didn't come from, you know, a facial ID device before. So if you're coming from a seven plus or an eight plus, that's going to be new too. If you want to see the full video of all the emotes, I'll leave that link in the description below. Now the next tip for iPhone 12 pro max is to try the rear touch. So if we go into our settings here, this is a brand new feature in iOS 14.

And I found that it works exceptionally well specifically on the 12 pro max. And I think it's just because of the size of the device. But if we go to our settings here and then we go to accessibility and then down to tap, then all the way, you'll see back, tap down. And I would recommend doing a triple tap instead of just a double tap. That way you won't accidentally enable this. So if we triple tap here, you have all these different things you can do just by tapping your finger three times on the back of the phone.

And this also works with a cover on; I tried the plug. So the control center would be one of those things that I would recommend having four taps back because even with the accessibility, you know, being able to do it, it might be even easier if you just use the tap back. That way, if we go to the home screen and triple tap the back of our phone, you can see it leaves the control center, triple tap again and it disappears. So the back will be one of those features that I think will be especially useful on the Pro Max compared to any other phone, simply because of the size of the device.

Now. The following tip is one way to keep a clean home screen. So you guys will never see me with many pages on my device. And that's because I like a clean home screen. I don't like 20 pages of apps because I think, you know, it doesn't look good and it takes a while to get to those apps. And in general it seems clumsy. So one way to make your home screen cleaner is to add apps to the app library instead of the home screen by default. So what I mean is that if you go to the app store and you download an app, usually, you know, by default, it will appear on your home screen, but maybe you have something, maybe you download something, you don't necessarily. you think you're going to use it a lot and you don't want it to be on your home screen.

Well, if you go into your settings right here and then go down to the home screen, you should switch newly downloaded apps to the app library only. And that way, when you download a new app, it will appear here in the app library. And if you want it to appear on your home screen, you can tap and hold, and then you can add it to, you know, your home screen, if you want. Now, if you already have a lot of pages on your springboard and want to hide them, you can now do it in iOS 14 on your iPhone, 12 pro max, by simply tapping and holding anywhere on the screen to juggle. mode here, you'll see that the bubble here, the bubble around the page points at the bottom looks like it's clickable, that's because it is.

So if you go ahead and tap on that, you can see that you get this interface here, where you can hide entire pages. So if I don't want my first or second page, I can go ahead and uncheck it. Tap, that's it, get back out of this. And as you can see, I no longer have a second page. And if I want to get it back, if I want to re-enable that page, do it again, so check that. And there we go. We have that page back. That's another little tip for hiding pages on the trampoline.

Now, another thing I would recommend doing on the iPhone 12 pro max is taking advantage of the widgets on such a large screen. So widgets, I'm generally not a big fan of widgets in iOS 14 on any other device, but I loved the widgets on the 12 pro max, simply because of how big it is. You can see much more content. And I would definitely recommend going ahead and adding some widgets. So if you're tapping, holding and clicking the plus sign up at the top left, here you have all these different widgets to choose from. So I think even something like the news would look good up there because of the size of the screen.

Even something like this. And just add it in there. I don't know. In my opinion it looks much better on the 12 Promax than on any other phone, it doesn't look as bunched up or as tight as on other phones. So go ahead and check out these widgets. I really like its appearance. Now another tip for iPhone 12 pro max is to shoot Raul when necessary. This is a new feature starting with iOS 14.3. And the reason I'm using my iPhone 12 pro here is because it's running UIs 14.3 beta and the 12 pro max isn't right now, but when 14.3 comes out, you'll have access to Apple's new pro raw format.

So if you go to your settings, you go to camera formats, you'll see Apple pro raw right there. And if you're already into photography, you already know what it means to shoot raw, but essentially if you shoot a photo in raw, that means you'll be able to manipulate and edit it a lot more than you could with a regular photo. as JPEG files. So if you go into the camera here, you'll see a little plain icon at the top right, and to enable it, just tap so it's not crossed out right there. And then you shoot raw and you can't edit it here, by clicking edit.

And you will also see that it is raw looking at the top, right? It says crude right there. If you're going to edit, you'll be able to edit, you know, the highlights, the contrast, all that stuff too. And you can also transfer it to your computer to manipulate and edit in Photoshop if you wish. This is a great feature to try on the iPhone 12 pro max, especially due to the improved camera system, even compared to the 12 pro. Now, talking about the camera, thanks to UI 14, we can change the resolution and frame rate directly from the camera app.

So if you go up here and tap on 4k, you can see that you can change it between 10 80 and 4k, right there. You can also switch between 30, 60 and 24 FPS without having to go back to the settings. That was a feature we were waiting for for a while. And you can take advantage of that. Now here on the iPhone 12, Promax using iOS 14. Now, another great feature of the iPhone 12 pro and pro max is that we have six gigabytes of Ram. So this is the first iPhone with this much RAM. And if we get into the geek bank fiber here, you canget confirmation of six gigabytes there.

So it's crazy how long apps stay open in the background with that much Ram because Apple already, you know, optimizes iOS so well that they don't need a lot of Ram to keep apps open in the background, but what the 12 pro max specifically Even on the 12 Pro, even though they're both six gigs, I found that apps stayed in the background a lot longer, especially with games like Call of Duty and Pub G. So it's crazy. Definitely go ahead and try it. You know, obviously you will over time, but you should know that we have six gigs of Ram here in the 12th pro max, and that's incredible.

Now also on the iPhones, well, pro max, we have support for five G. You can see the antenna band here in the right corner, the iPhone 12 pro max. And if we go into our settings here and then go up to cellular and then cellular, voice and data options, you'll see that they have these 5g settings right here. So you can turn on 5g all the time, 5g automatically, or you can just turn off 5g by going to LTE. So, know that when using 5g and trying to connect to 5g, the towers will consume some of your battery life.

So I would recommend using LTE or 5g audio, but if you really want the full experience you can of course turn on 5g. Also, with data mode, you have options here for standard low data mode, or allowing more data on 5g and a nice feature of having a lot more data on 5g is that you will be able to download software updates over the air. on LTE or on 5g, I should say, instead of using wifi. Now, another great feature of the iPhone 12 pro max. And this is also because UI 14 is a new UI for incoming calls.

So you can also swipe up to mute it and not ignore it. So let me show you what I mean. So if I go ahead and call myself right here, you'll see what I mean. As you can see, I have this incoming call and it's no longer taking up the entire screen, but also, instead of having it up there, I can also swipe up to mute the phone call and you can see that it's still ringing based on the icon in the top corner. left, but that's all. You can, you don't have to ignore it. And if you go ahead and tap this, or if you go ahead and tap that, you'll be able to see a sunset, pull it up full screen.

You can also go ahead and swipe to keep it appearing right there. So that's great. Especially on the 12th, Promax with its big screen. You don't want it to take up the entire screen. So that's something to take advantage of. Now, another thing you should know about the iPhone 12 pro max is that we have a magnetic array on the back of the phone. So inside the phone we have a circular magnetic array that allows us to use accessories like the charger charger, which is new from Apple. So this is magnetic and you can see it attaches to the iPhone and it's pretty sturdy.

In fact, I found it to be sturdier and stick harder to the 12 pro max compared to any other phone I've tested it on. So that's also good news. If you have a 12 pro max specifically, and this is great, and you know, we have the Mac Save charger, but we also have, you know, accessories, new accessories, like the Mag Safe wallet. So you can also attach it as a wallet accessory on the back of your phone. And just a lot of new accessories. This opens up a whole new iPhone accessory business. So know that you have those magnets back there and you can take advantage of the secure magnetic charger and secure magnetic accessories.

Now, one of the biggest concerns you have with any phone, but especially the iPhone 12 pro max, this year will be dropping it. I think it will be a little easier to drop than previous phones, simply because of how big it is and how heavy it is. So it's a good thing. Apple just introduced the ceramic shield this year, which will result in four times the drop resistance. So the 12 pro max will be more resistant to drops than in previous years, but I would still highly recommend getting a screen protector for the front glass right here. You can find them on Amazon and other places as well.

Now, quickly coming back to the iPhone 12 pro max camera, I also wanted to point out that we have the LIDAR scanner there. These are the first iPhones with a LIDAR scanner, the 12 pro and 12 pro max. And this is going to improve the focus and the videos. You know, it will improve focus speed and also overall accuracy. And I found that it's even better on the 12 pro max than the 12 pro for whatever reason. So this will be great for that. It will also be great for AR apps, just AR in general, like the measurement app, and anything to do with augmented reality will be much better now that we have the LIDAR sensor on the 12 pro and pro max.

So thanks to the accessibility and also the triple tap on the rear stop to lower the control center. As you saw me set up before, control center changes will be something you'll definitely want to set up on the 12 pro max. You can see these are the controls down here. And also, if you don't have any HomeKit-enabled devices, you can go ahead and completely delete this section right here. So to do that, just go to settings and then go down to control center. I also want to show you a new option in iOS 14.2. Again, if you don't have HomeKit devices, you can go ahead and deselect showing home controls that way.

They're gone, and you have a much cleaner look here in the control center. And if you want to change the options, just click on the plus sign there. And you can also delete them by clicking on the little red minus sign there and deleting them. As you can see here, you have all these different options. You can also move them and new in iOS 14.2 will be music recognition. So this uses shazamm. If you go ahead and swipe down, you'll be able to see it right there. If you just touch that, it will play music. And if you listen to a song, it will open the Shazam icon.

It'll pop up, you know, a little notification right here for shizam.com. If you tap that, you can go ahead and see what song was playing and add it to Apple Music, Spotify, and things like that. So definitely go ahead and set them up. And once again, you can set it up using backup with just a triple tap, to bring it down where you can use accessibility to easily reach the control center with one hand. Now, one of those changes that you may have seen in the control center is the sleep mode right here and the sleep mode is definitely something that you want to set on the iPhone 12 pro max.

It's not exclusive to the 12 pro max, but it's something you want to go ahead and enable on this device. So, to do this, you need to go ahead and set a sleep goal. You can also do this in the health app, but if you haven't set it up, you'll see something like this here and you'll be able to set your sleep goal. So if you only need about seven hours of sleep, you can do that and schedule your days for when he wants to go to bed. And when he wants to wake up, you can change it throughout the week.

You have your alarm to wake you up down here. You could do all of these things with this app here, with this new feature, I should say, called sleep mode. And it is very, very useful. So yes, I'm covering a lot of iOS 14 features here too, but these are just things you need to know about the iPhone 12 Promax, if you're new to the 12 pro max, and especially if you're new to iOS. also. So the next thing I want to talk about is configuring apps to not use your exact locations. So if you go to your settings here and then privacy and then location services, then I don't have many apps set up here using location, but if you have something like Instagram or Twitter or anything that has your location, you can set it to not use your exact location.

So if I go to something like weather, obviously I want this to use my precise location, but if you have an app in there that you don't want to use a precise location, you can go ahead and turn this off, and you can look there. It says it allows apps to use your specific location. When you turn it off, apps can only determine your approximate location. So I would recommend turning off precise location for apps that don't need to know your exact location, like obviously maps and weather, and maybe your camera needs to know your exact location, but maybe like Twitter and apps like that.

It is not necessary to know its exact location. So that's something you want to go ahead and set up. And the last thing you should do, and something you should know about the iPhone 12 pro max, will be to change the default apps. This is once again related to UI 14, but you can change or default the apps. If you go down to Safari right here, you can change your search engine, but you can also change the default apps for things like your web browsers and things like that. As you can see here, I have Google Chrome. If we just tap on that, you could change the default browser from Safari to Chrome.
