Jun 06, 2021
Oh that's great, I didn't see that yesterday I was right by a river, the

first

day of

quarantine

officially starts and then I got my

first

meal

, so welcome to my 14 day

quarantine

food

review

. I'm on other things I do again, you can't order takeout. or delivery from any restaurant so you can only eat what they send you, this is breakfast so it arrived at my door around seven am. basically last night I tried to go to bed, I couldn't sleep so I was up working on a couple of videos, I finally fell in love. I slept around 4am and then it came around 7am.
14 day south korea quarantine food review first meal in seoul
The breakfast actually doesn't look bad at all and this

review

will be a bit biased because I've been starving. This is basically a lunch box that I assume warms up a bit in the microwave. Some of the

food

s in here I wouldn't want to heat because they're fine, so I can take out the radish. I don't want to heat this up. Take this out. I do not know what it is. I definitely have no idea what. It's and I really have no idea what that is I think I know what that is maybe like a fried chicken cutlet some sausage maybe like a croquette or something like that this is the mysterious part like I have no idea what the hell that is that It says do Don't heat an egg in the microwave, um, on the warning panel of the microwave, so I guess this can't be done, so the microwave is basically calibrated for these food containers, it's no more than five minutes and the heat settings are recorded, it's fixed so you can.

More Interesting Facts About,

14 day south korea quarantine food review first meal in seoul...

No change, I'm starting to feel like I wish I had more of these first, let's find out what some of these mystery items are. Okay, it's interesting, it looks very strange. This is actually very good. Beef bulgogi with squid. It was very spicy. It doesn't look good at all, very tasty, so here's bulgogi, squid, onions and this chili sauce. If you can't handle spiciness, you won't be able to tolerate this one. What are these potatoes, turnips, really nice, no. I think I was supposed to microwave that little thing. This thing looks like a zucchini sneezing here.
14 day south korea quarantine food review first meal in seoul
It tastes like zucchini sneezing in there. I have no idea what this is. It's just slimy and a little garlicky. I do not love it. Oh, so I get it. this is the normal bulgogi, it was the spicy bugogi, I like spicy much better, much better mmm that little fried meat pie I don't know what meat it is, I'm sure it's one of the animals, I actually have a shiny ball of Korean dough. noodles noodles here a little bit of chives tiny little shrimp, I mean don't expect the outside to be crispy or anything but the taste isn't bad, my favorite is still this very spicy bulgogi squid concoction, forget about the rest of this stuff, just give me more. of this I will eat this and rice, I need that and this is breakfast, the portion of food is uh, there is not much, I mean, this is normally what I eat for the first breakfast, but I think that in these two weeks I will be able to achieve a balance and plan my calorie intake and my food intake, I'll be able to get plenty of exercise because, well, what else am I going to do?
14 day south korea quarantine food review first meal in seoul
Maybe do a little cutting back in quarantine to improve your body. It's kind of nice, though at least being able to watch something outside, well here's a problem with trying to watch Korean dramas in Korea, there are no English subtitles, see, that's why you have a VPN. Okay, two weeks here, obviously, you have to work a lot inside the room now a couple. things didn't really go the way I wanted, I bought these, I spent about 100 on these, these are pull up bars that attach to the door frame. The problem is, of course, that I don't have a door frame.
Look at this little door frame here so I can't hold it so I think it was supposed to hold on to the door frame like this and you can pull up like this but you can also use this to do push ups so I guess That's what I'm going to do. The other thing I have that is really useful. I brought all these resistance bands with this bar so I can do a bunch of exercises and then I can do burpees, sit-ups which I'll do in bed, obviously I would recommend bringing a yoga. This will be my space, this little hallway there's not much to work with, but do the best you can, okay, let's get a good workout.
I feel like I need a sports bra. It's time to do some burpees. You have to protect yourself. Lunch is here. I could see him after my work has gone well, so for lunch we had instant coffee, three hard-boiled eggs, French fries, an orange, apple juice, chocolate cake with fresh berries, real chocolate cake, another one of these lunchboxes and custard, so many more things than this morning. Let's heat this up, the eggs get weirder than I thought, it'll be little sausages and sesame sauce, I have no idea what this is, imitation crab, it looks like a bulgogi again and some cabbage that's very hot, but Goku isn't bad if you order the um.
Normal menu items There will be a lot of spicy foods, that's how they do it in this country. These

meal

s are really simple but they are delicious, definitely better than a ham and cheese sandwich or anything you would have gotten if I had been quarantined and saved. In the US I would like it to be savory duck cakes but tons of protein they came with protein powder in case I needed extra protein but I wouldn't like them to give you some milk or something just so you have a good source of calcium, I would also recommend it if you come here and pack enough vitamins for yourself, definitely get some vitamin D, some calcium, I also brought vitamin C packets, oh this is not bad, no complaints so which is approximately one o'clock. now and I feel sleep gnawing at me, I'm going to try to keep going today, so after this and do some work, maybe exercise number two and I'll see you at dinner, look at this, the hard-boiled eggs, I think it's like an egg with soy sauce is less tasty than a tea egg but tastier than a typical boiled egg I really try to stay awake but around 3 p.m.
It crashed it's around seven now I just brought my dinner I'm not feeling good about myself I was I was really trying to get through the day without falling asleep so I guess they bring out the snacks during lunch just another box of rice that starts Let's see the pattern now, so I'm thinking that every day this will be one of these, at least these changes. To this day we have rice and spam, to be honest this is probably the one I've gotten the least publicity about so far. It's like three pieces of Spam, some kimchi, and three pieces of what looks like fried chicken.
Something else I wish I had brought. some seasonings a little soy sauce maybe a little chili oil tell you what, that's pretty good spam though, well the first date basically went by pretty quickly honestly I'll probably stay up and work out again and then work a little bit because my sleep schedule for the first week I know is going to be very out of sync these two weeks will fly by again they will probably be the most relaxing weeks I've ever had okay see you tomorrow good morning day two two and a half On my second full day of quarantine I was hoping for a little variety when it comes to food and this showed up, it's like a rice deal, oh yeah it's rice with almonds okay, it's like an omurice where the omelet on rice I didn't expect Look at the cheese passing by today I have no plans again in US time I'm doing my preparation for the first speech I'll give at a university so that's exciting, very stretchy cheese, hmm, it's not there bad, I think they bought these. at the local market no they are not, they are not bad food, this one in particular I wish it came with a set of spam or something.
I found myself quite hungry throughout the day. I really feel like I'm on a diet. here I got thinner okay my cheekbones are showing a little I ate my only instant noodle um like at 1 am last night I was so hungry my advice for this quarantine bring food bring instant noodles I don't feel like that food they give you is enough to make you feel full all day long, at least not for me, so bring us the noodles, bring snacks, you will find that variety of food is lacking, this is all I do now, I eat and look forward to when the door knocks again and I get my next meal like I'm most excited about the lunch pack because it has the most stuff, honey, apple chips, oh some nuts and fruit, two bananas, it's a welcome change, bottled water, nuts and holy fruits , nuts and fruits, why this different color is chickpea, almond? okay so it's different nuts and fruits, that's good, oh bread, cider, this is one of my favorite drinks in South Korea, quite similar lunchbox to the lunchbox I had yesterday, not a bad haul, hey, so I think it's my first episode of quarantine confusion. by the way, I just woke up, it's around 9:30 pm. local time, I've been sleeping all day, I've basically been binge-watching Modern Family and drifting in and out of consciousness, I barely remember getting up. for dinner because they just knock on your door, so I had dinner.
I was a little angry because I was like, where's my lunch? because I was really excited to eat two meals at once because I don't remember having lunch, so I was looking around for about an hour for my lunch, then I remembered that I think I ate it well. I vaguely remember eating it and I'm also starting to see the foods repeat themselves in these food boxes and you usually know it's dinner time when you see grass in your meals, this is the true indicator of dinner time. dinner, otherwise they look the same every three meals, except this morning it was a nice omelette, rice, just food, small sausages, kimchi, more sausages, a fish cake, this is pork and kimchi and a little piece of tortilla I wonder if I finish the quarantine I would get very tired of this you know what maybe I'll go to sleep a little more don't disappear on me okay like lunch did on the third day of quarantine and I broke news, many thanks to scott evans on my instagram who stayed in the same facilities as me.
You can actually order things on this website called g market, which is kind of like, I guess, Amazon or something from South Korea and you. You can order it and have it delivered to your hotel room and they will bring it to you, so thanks Scott, you are a lifesaver. I'm going to get some sheets. I want to get some food and I want to get a really nice bath towel. because these are the towels, let me show you the bathroom, but these are the towels that I give you, so they give you two of these little white towels and that's what you get for your shower.
Let's order some supplies. The good thing is that I place my water. The bad thing is that I don't think it will ship until Monday, it's Friday now, but a couple more days I'll be having instant noodles and canned tuna for dinner, they brought lunch and this time it's a little different, granola bar, shrimp chips with garlic next to this honey apple crispy thing it's amazing an apple anyone wants this I don't like apples unless they're in a pie this is a little different it looks like beef bulgogi and I'm really excited about this yogurt I love yogurt

korea

n I love Korean yogurt I'm more excited about this than this ah, show the light, okay, let me see, no, I was expecting it to float or something to still be alive, this is a big crumb trip, okay, I feel like I made a mistake by also heating the kimchi in the microwave.
In fact, I'm really excited for something that's even a little different. This food is so good. It reminds me of a well-made 7-eleven dish. The meat is tender. Good proportion of fatty meat. The kimchi is good. Finally it is not the same chili. pasta flavor I've been eating for the last three days, it's a relief, a change and I love dinner time, like I said, the portions of food are never that big so it's just a little bit of veggies and meats and a bowl of rice I'm always hungry after eating this but this time they give me broccoli so I can feel hungry where I have to eat the broccoli well played broccoli well played this is another reality of being cheesy I have no idea what day it is Sunday no I had no idea and probably had the most depressing breakfast since the beginning of quarantine.
Hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumber. There's some kimchi. I'm putting it on top of my rice. Bean jelly, radish, plums and bean sprouts. I feel like I have the vegetarian option today by mistake or something you know what that could happen there really is a vegetarian option that's why everything tastes like nothing and that's why before you do this you have to bring your own food luckily I still have some shrimp fries and a granola bar hope lunch is better today go for a run lunchtime 40 minutes 2.67 miles it's not about work I see what's for lunch great snack this little stale one and that's a bagel stale banana ooh pepsi them for lunch

korea

n fried chicken this might be the best meal I've had so far: korean fried chicken with tomato rice, corn and cheese and half a sausage, seriously probably the best I've had so far, It won't be crispy like a freshly made Korean fried chicken, but it isdelicious, a little kimchi. rice to go with it, best food I ever had, heartwarming, I will treasure this moment while I'm in quarantine, I've been watching a lot of shows, this is the one I'm watching right now on Korean Netflix, I don't know if it's on Netflix in this us, but it is a cute little show, go go squid, it's about the super cool computer hacker guy who runs a team of hackers and they compete in hacking tournaments and this girl and they met everyone serendipity serendipity serendipity league they met By chance, anyway, I really like romantic and happy television programs.
This is definitely one of them. Well, my food just arrived and I also received a package. I was expecting like three packages, but at least it works. At least I know. It's something I can do. I just got an email from the site saying that the best leaf I bought won't arrive until the end of the month so I'll have to order some different greens leaves, oh so this came, I need a lot of protein and I don't feel like I was getting enough so I bought one, two, three, four, five, twelve cans of tuna, like huge cans of tuna, they brought it. with my dinner, just make sure to ask your quarantine facility if they allow things like this, but, gmart, they love it.
You may not get all your stuff but you will get some that should be their model and on the site they have like tuna silk and chili sauce adding tuna with vegetables this is the only thing they had left everything else was sold out I'll just log off with lime and basil oh this is delicious well wow the butt of any home canned tuna those two are so good I could eat rice and then there is tuna that is so good I highly recommend getting it if you are in quarantine because it definitely They don't give you enough meat, it's not enough protein, especially if you exercise like I do, you're trying.
To build muscle, this needs protein. I also brought my shaker bottle with protein powder. I also brought magic spoon cereal but I don't have a bowl or milk so this is a great way to get my protein in and it's so delicious. I am very happy with this. I wish I had bought more than 12 cans. Good morning. I'm halfway there. Seven days have passed. Seven more to go. It is not too bad. I'm getting used to my surroundings. I have limited space so I've been running around in terms of entertaining. I finished Go Go Squid and am restarting King's avatar.
I'm watching this cute food drama show called Kitchen Dates and I swear to God he looks like this guy. asian joseph gordon levitz, that's agent joseph gordon levitz, as for games, I just downloaded it and started playing Borderlands, great game. Otherwise, I survived on three of these meals a day plus my canned tuna. I ordered four packages online, only two made it. I think one of them got lost and one was delayed, this honestly saved my life right here. I don't know what I would do without extra cans of tuna every day and I learn more about what is allowed here and what is not allowed here, so there are two intercom messages a day that go through like all you can have here what you can't you can have here all the rules of this place it is very long as every day it is about 15 or 20 minutes of audio instructions like these messages that are played in five different languages, so what is allowed is, of course, any whatever you bring.
You can order things from online sites like the one I did at g Market. You cannot order food delivery from a restaurant. You can't order anything you can smell, so no. dorian, but which is a little strange because the food they brought has a lot of garlic flavor. You can only use the three towels they give you and let me show you the size of the towels. They don't have a big house. This is the size. stayed, they give you three of these and they give you three slightly smaller hand towels, but this is it, this is all you get, you can't ask for new clean towels and if you want to do laundry, the only thing they give you .
I'll give you laundry soap, which isn't bad, but luckily I brought at least one extra towel, so it's become a lifesaver. The trash all goes in this bag and is picked up twice a day if you try to open the door at any other time. Also, when you get the food alarm, it rings again. It's very sad when the water sheets fill up because you know I don't have sheets. This is still the most amazing thing about this entire setup, but unfortunately the sheets were One of the orders was delayed and I won't receive it until the end of the month, so I'm canceling it.
There they give you a reminder of the thermometer they gave you at the beginning. I thought this was going to be a new thermometer, but it's not. it's used so it's kind of gross if you come here because you have to submit it twice a day in the app, like your temperature, how you feel all the symptoms, I don't recommend using this so bring your own thermometer which I brought, luckily . I brought one myself so I didn't have to. I thought it was new, but it's definitely not very used and they want it back at the end of this whole thing.
The wifi, this being South Korea, is pretty good, so yeah, that's it. The days flew by. I'm resting a lot. I love working out even though it's in this small confined space. I mean, that's all I do every day. I exercise, read, meditate and eat, and play some video games. I'm on vacation, no, seriously, actually, this is like my vacation because I never get the chance to not film for that long, so it's quite relaxing for me. Things are going pretty well. I thought I'd give them a chance. small update there are several more days left good morning I just finished a live wow it's exciting not to have it um also bring lots of cough drops or something that suits your throat when you're here because the air is very stuffy anyway I just finished a live talk Commitment to California River University, although it was very nice to hang out with you virtually, but the day finally came, so I was hoping that during one of the meals you bring me it would stand out, since the food would look incredible.
The day is today, check it out, they brought it in, look at this, oh, like it's a chicken chop or a pork chop and it's the size of my face, let's heat it up, this is the sauce on the bottom, this is, By far the most beautiful thing. what I have during quarantine is just the monstrosity of this thing this could be the first time after a meal that I could be full it's a lot of sauce obviously it's not going to be crispy I like them I mean I wish I could air fryer so I could throw them in the air fryer this will come out perfect fried pork chop although the outside is a little soggy the breading tastes good the sauce tastes good the meat tastes good 100 best food I've had in quarantine so far not even close I wish I could get one of these a day.
You might even find this dish when you get out of quarantine. Just like that, it's also another update on my quarantine. So I originally thought I would get a coverage test when I entered the facility. I also thought we'd all get a coverage test before we leave, that's not the case, so apparently for Americans this changes depending on where you're from. Americans don't need a second test, so once my time is up, I'll be here. Get out of here, okay, let me go back to my color, my last day of quarantine. It happened pretty fast, I have to tell you that today I received a special gift.
Look at this. I have a lot of people asking me what my first meals can be. when I leave here my answer is anything but bulgogi, this is like a luxury item, this is the good thing, it's actually very good, it has a smoky flavor, you can taste the flame, this should start on a burger. The commercial flame boiled without a doubt one of my favorite meals so far, mainly because it's different, this is what the checkout process will be like tomorrow at eight o'clock, they will come in and they won't be able to leave the room until they come in, so I'm going to enter.
They will put me on a bus and take me to Seoul Station, as I mentioned before. I'm having a little problem with my Airbnb right now. I can't contact the host so. I'm trying to figure out that situation, but if all goes well, they'll drop me off right in front of my Airbnb and that's it, my life in Korea will begin. I want to talk a little bit about why I came here now. I mentioned this in previous videos, so in January and February, when I was in Asia, my plan was to stay in Asia for entire years.
Short cases started going up there, so I came back to the States and then things started to skyrocket. In the United States I don't fear many things in life. I never experienced anxiety before an anxiety attack or like some kind of crazy paranoia. This whole situation. This whole Kova thing gave me the most anxiety I've ever felt. In my life I was and still am experiencing stress related symptoms. I feel like there's been a nod in my throat for literally the last eight months and it didn't help that I was staying in an apartment building and no one was wearing a mask.
Inside the building just walking around you know people were still packed into the elevators, things got better after they started putting up signs everywhere saying don't do that but still a lot of people didn't care and that was the general attitude. What I felt about a lot of people I met was that a lot of people just didn't care about all this, so even back then I wanted to go to a place where the whole Kova situation was handled much better and it was the only country I found. that still lets Americans in is South Korea and then I thought maybe going back to New York would help because the situation was better there so I came back and I also had to give them the place that I got from my parents and when I got to New York and yes, I was living in the middle of the woods, which is pretty safe, but I was still being dragged into the city every day because I had restaurants opening, I had partner meetings and I still wanted to keep filming videos and I wanted to go out and still support companies locals, so I tried to make that my new normal for a long time, but then my anxiety never went away every time I ate out, I would go home if I had a sore throat, I would get scared if I coughed.
A little bit the next morning I was freaking out and felt my mental health slowly deteriorate. I'm not exaggerating one bit, I just started becoming this super paranoid guy as you guys saw, I wear two masks everywhere. I don't come into contact with anyone unless they've been tested and that was very difficult to do because again I have meetings, we have restaurants opening and I know everyone has their own understanding about this whole virus and how seriously I'm going to take it. For me it was like for the first time in a long time it was really affecting me mentally, so when the cases in New York and all over us continued to rise, I decided I had to leave, so I'm going to stay as long as possible.
As I can, I have a restaurant opening, I think sometime in December we're not 100 sure yet depending on the whole situation, but I'll stay here until that happens and I get kicked out of the country. Okay, I have to finish lunch and I have to pack because early tomorrow morning I will be homeless. I hope this is the first and only time I'm in a hotel without comfy sheets, although that's okay, I'm sure they won't want me filming. Next part, so see you, the station was just dropped off at Seoul Station, so my Airbnb hasn't been approved by the host yet.
I have no money. I need a place to store my luggage for a while, so first. things first you have to find an atm it's so nice to be able to walk breathe even with the mask it's so nice to have air let's go get some food first i'm warming up to the food and the path the gps is taking is pretty cool it's like if it reminded me of Highline park in New York, there are a lot of trees, rose gardens, really pretty, of course, all in the middle of the city, this is a famous handmade noodle alley, so every stall here sells handmade noodles.
I don't know which one to choose, I mean they're all pretty much the same, but I saw that this is the smallest stall here and this chick here didn't have anyone sitting here, so everyone else has customers, so I mom, I I'm going to eat her, keep her company first, buy the noodles in two weeks, that's handmade, lots of chew and texture, delicious kimchi, soft potato slices, this is the alley everyone should come to when you're in this market , everything is like this. fresh, it's so good that he also gave me some cold noodles to try, that's beyond delicious.
I love Korean cold noodles, they are so good I can't even believe I'm sitting here in Korea eating fresh noodles at one of my favorite markets. Also some of the best cold noodles you'll find anywhere, as well as local ones you can get, and there are dumplings here too. You are probably more familiar with this market than any other market in Korea. Asweet bean muffin which I actually ordered. three kimchi buns give me sweet bean butter. I have one of them with a crispy butt. I have that sinking feeling. I may not have gotten a kimchi bun.
The three red bean buns go well, but I'm a little discouraged because I wasn't ready for them. dessert but still very good, even with just the locals, check out the line for this famous and crazy hotel stall. I have a sweet one and a savory one that is so good, so good, chives, carrots, noodles, you have to ask them to add some of that sauce the skin is the magic element of the stem it is so crispy airy and delicious oh it melts in your mouth the sweet one is my favorite look at that puffy little thing it's like biting into the crispiest donut the lightest and airiest you get in the ingredients you arrive here with a burst of cinnamon and honey and that great aromatic sesame flavor Omg I got this it was a one of my all time favorite street foods in this country and also only a dollar, eat your back, I finally booked a place on airbnb this is the third reservation I have made, I hope this place is okay, let's take a look, this It's my neighborhood for at least the next month and a half, welcome to hyundai and this neighborhood is great because it's in the middle of all these great restaurants and street food and all this crazy nightlife, I don't really participate in clubs or bars but I love it The food here is not that bad, it is an old house, but the floors are clean, that is due to the lack of sheets in this country. space I really wanted a table on a balcony with an Asian washer and dryer, a stove I'm really going to use this time.
Oh, there's not much of a view, although it's not bad and I'm honestly happy to have a place where I've been homeless most of the day. Not knowing if I'll actually find a place tonight, okay, I'll settle in and go to dinner. The happiness I feel right now is simply indescribable. There is a bubble tea cafe right next door, check out this bingsu shaved ice street food. This is within a two minute walk, so I love this neighborhood, so I calculated these 42 meals of rice at each meal. I need this and honestly it's not bad at all.
I'm very picky about my pizzas, but Crush's ten are good. The cheese could be better, but so-so. Reminds me of a New York pie. I just want to do one thing after this. Go buy some sheets. I feel like I haven't seen them in a long time and I need them. Oh, fifty dollars. I can't find sheets here. It's just a mattress. covers and I won't spend fifty dollars on the duvet cover next time I come to this country I will bring my own sheets. I just realized that this place next to my house is so big.
One of the best bingsu places in South Korea. This is a magical dessert if you ever crave fresh snow the lightest powder snow any time of the year let's come to this place and get some beans this is the classic dry green powder a little almond a little mochi I really consider this It's my first real day in South Korea and looking around, things are pretty normal, like people walking around, everyone has a mask, everyone wears mascara and everywhere I went, if I'm eating inside, I have to sign my name, I have to write down a phone number and that's it. because in case someone tests positive they can be traced which I think is a great idea people are still taking precautions like there are hand sanitizers everywhere like I said every person I met has a mask on, that is, not when they are eating. but when they walk outside, we walk inside even though the whole quarantine may seem very strict and you know, I complained in the hotel room.
I'm really glad they have that protocol in place, I mean. I feel better that people are coming in and going through the same process that I went through, oh, these two months. I'm going to take it easy. I'll go out and film what I want to film, otherwise I'll walk. I'm going to enjoy this country, it's fall weather right now. I'm going to do some hiking. I won't be filming as much, just taking a mental health break. I know many people are going through similar mental situations. struggle like me, so wherever you are, you know, find time to take it easy, you know, go meditate a little, take some time, take care of yourself anyway, that's a look at what the two week quarantine process is like in South Korea, thank you all.
Much to see until later
