118 Things You Missed in The Purge TV Series | Seasons 1 & 2

Jun 06, 2021
The foot was lifted off the ground. I mean, how does this work? Are they college or NFL rules? We need some clarity, James Demonaco. Anyway, Tommy will go to jail for a year before his execution date in the next Purge. While in jail, Ryan brings him a book. It is the 1844 novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, about an innocent man who is unjustly but deliberately imprisoned. The book ends with a final message: all human wisdom is contained in these two words: "Wait and hope." This was Ryan's way of telling him that if he held out until Purge Night, maybe they had a way to get him out.

Meanwhile, they also plan their heist for the next Purge. ZIV: "Our city attracts a lot of people on Purge night." Although it hasn't been updated in a couple of years, it actually points back to the NFFA website, which was used to promote each Purge film. In 2014, for The Purge:   Anarchy iteration of the site, they did a blog post on the top five Purge destinations, with New Orleans coming in third in the country. I guess that went on for over a decade. In fact, it's referenced again in the fifth episode, where Miami and New Orleans are hot tourist destinations during The Purge, which also sets up the whole election-year murder tourism subplot a few years later.

More Interesting Facts About,

Part of Ryan's plan to steal the money from the bank is to let the jackals steal it and then steal it again later that night. Jackals are thieves who steal from other thieves, so Ryan's plan is to give them a taste of their own medicine. When he and Esme looked up the jackal's identities, I noticed some familiar names, like Trent Sarreal and Sam Bogh. These are also the names of Professor Adams' test subjects in her experiment on the effect of purging on the human brain. However, the photos are different... and the test subjects didn't survive, so I think this is a mistake, like they accidentally used the name twice for secondary characters.

Season 2 is not without Easter eggs with references to the crew. Ryan has a flashback to his days on the police force, where we see that the locker next to his is labeled Federico, named after second unit cinematographer Federico Veradi. During that same flashback, Ryan receives a surprise in the field on the night of the Purge. "Reynolds, what the fuck are you doing here?" I already mentioned Jeff Reynolds. He was also a reference Easter egg for the team in Season 1. Ryan's training director at the police academy was Amy Krebsbach, named after the truck's client. There is also an article written about one of Ryan's heroic actions as an officer.

It is written by James Crafton (who is the production secretary) and there are mentions of names like Paul, Emily and Raul Uddo, all probably members of the family of Paul Uddo, the first AD who was also mentioned in season 1. The other article shown here mentions an incident at a gas station, where Ryan is again named, along with his superior, Andrea Ziv. His character is named after writer and co-producer Krystal Houghton Ziv. The article mentions a couple more members of the team: travel coordinator Callie Martin, second assistant director Ben Ledoux. Esme then moves on to a letter Ryan received from the mayor in 2010.
It is signed by Colleen E Moody, who is also the script supervisor. There is another reference to the crew later. Remember the part where Asian Andy praises Dr. Updale's book? ANDY: “I'm halfway through Dr. Updale's Experiment Fundamentals. Not authorized. “I’m kind of a history buff.” BONNIE: “NFFA history?” ANDY: “Yes. It was a bestseller.” KELLEN: “Did he not commit suicide after creating the first

purge

night?” ANDY: “No, that has been debunked. He died Purging.” Not only does that explain exactly what the NFFA told the public after the events of The First Purge, but we see this book throughout the

series

.
First on a poster, then Parker finds the book in Ben's possession, where we see the author: M Martin, a reference to prop master Michael S Martin. There is also a billboard that can be seen around town advertising Purge: The Musical, a story of good versus evil. I wonder if that's a sign of

things

to come. That's how it is. You heard it here first. The Forever Purge will be a musical. RYAN'S MOM: "Why aren't you at school?" RYAN: "It was cancelled." Well, that was a little HARD. It's also not the first time The Purge has predicted disaster.
When I did the Things You Missed episode of The First Purge, I pointed out this wall art of a boxer and explained how it represents the character Nya. In the Frat House, where Ben tortures his fraternity mates, there is a portrait of a football player with a very similar style. Another callback can be seen when Ryan's gang breaks Tommy out of captivity. It appears that the Mercy Cult bus from Season 1 has been repurposed and is now used as a prisoner transport vehicle on Purge Night. Season 2 comes to an end when Ben truly becomes the new God during the 2037

purge

.
He eliminates most of the brotherhood from him, but Parker survives. As Ben chases him, he is hit by a car and wakes up in a sorting center. When he comes to, the first thing he sees is a statue of Jesus looking down on him. Perhaps this angers him, because he now sees himself as God and he doesn't want this religious figure to look down on him. BEN: “You're just trying to play God. But you are not God. I AM!" Marcus manages to sedate him and save the rest of the sorting center, but Ben survives. In the final shots, he can be seen preparing for another Purge.
It's an interesting choice and, if my theory is correct, that means that the two main villains of the television

series

, the new God and Joe Owens, survive. As of now, The Purge television series is canceled and the next movie, The Forever Purge, is supposed to be the end of the series. How cool would it be to see Joe and Ben, two of the most powerful Purge villains we've seen yet, team up as secondary antagonists in the franchise's finale? Whatever happens, I'll be sure to cover The Forever Purge here? in Things You Missed. So make sure you don't miss out by subscribing to CZsWorld for new horrors every week, ring the death bell to get all the notifications and we'll see you next time.
Assuming we both survive. purge stay home, but if you have to go out, wear a mask.
