look. I know I'll have some criticism here, but I decided to repaint my dresser. It's been this pretty lonely blue color for three years. and I love it, but I wanted a change. The color I wanted was a dark grain from Home Depot, but since I can't get it at Home Depot, I ordered something similar on Amazon. I got a Rest Liam color called Hunter. green and I'll link it below for you and that's what I'm going to use to update my dresser.

I'm adding three coats of paint to my dresser. The only problem I had with this paint was that it had a gloss finish and I am not a fan of gloss. I generally like flat or eggshell books better. Once all my paint had a chance to dry, I wanted to tone it down a bit, so I'm going to use my Annie's Dark Wax. Sloan, I'm just going to put a little bit on a rag, I'm just going to wipe the dark wax on my piece and then I'm going to use that same rag to clean it, smearing it on the dresser, this is really I'm going to tone down that shine and give me a little bit of dimension and it will also darken the color a little because it was still too bright a green for me.

Now you guys know I can't stop without doing some distressing, so I'm going to use some Annie Sloan White Wax and just brush it along the edges, this will give me a little more dimension and then I'll wipe it off. The best thing about wax is that once you put it on, if you feel like it's too much, you can always wipe it off and that's what I did. I just played with it and cleaned it when I felt it was too much. and added more if I felt there were areas where I needed to put more dark wax.

I did it until I was satisfied with the final result. Now for my knobs I wanted them to be like a muted vintage e-gold, but I didn't have that on hand so I'll show you what I did, so I took some gold spray paint and just sprayed it on my knobs and handles, once I put them on my dresser, they were too golden for me, so I just took the same Annie Sloan dark wax and I'm going to rub it on the handles and it really ages them and gives them that fantastic look that I was going for behind that big wall behind my dresser that I really wanted.

To fill that, I teamed up with Dicenio, which is an affordable Scandinavian poster company and today's sponsor, to create some beautiful posters and wall designs and when I started looking on their site there were so many options to choose from that it was really hard. , but my heart is always drawn to nature. I love beach scenes and things that seem very calm. I was also really drawn to some of these dark green colors, so we changed the dresser and that's how the color palette for this started. room posters arrived so fast they arrived in five days shipping to the USA I just picked up a variety that really caught my eye and I felt like they would work well together and I will link them all in the description box they also have a wide selection . of frames I chose these light oak frames and I think they were great quality, they were very easy to put together and I loved how these frames had like a plastic cover, that way the top of the frames didn't get ruined. on shippi and then you just put your signs on there and the backs were super easy to put on, they just had these little locking clips that I put on the back and I was able to put them all together in just a matter of minutes.
I know it can be very intimidating to figure out how to make a picture wall, so the way I like to do it is to start by laying everything flat on the floor so you can start moving the pictures around and see how they look up. your wall I also think it's a great idea to take a photo of them that way you can look at it and see what it will look like on the wall, so I can choose three or four different options and then I'll flip through them. my phone and I'm fine that one looks better and if you're still stuck you can always go online and look for different inspiration to build your picture wall so Chris was kind enough to help me hang them on the wall and I'm going to start by putting my lamp in the corner because I know I want this to be the featured piece on my shelf.
Let's start lining everything up and putting the screws in the wall to hang the pictures, if you want. ating dungeon. One of my goals this spring was to clean this up, but luckily for us I didn't because I literally have so much to choose from, so I'm going to go through all of this to the court to see what I can find that maybe just needs a little repurposing. and I can renovate it to fit better into my decor today to fix my lamp.
I have had this lamp that I kept for a long time. time, but I wanted to add a little bit to it to darken it, so I'm going to use the same nice, slightly dark wax that I was using on the dresser and I'm just going to take it and wipe it lightly on my lamp and also remove it so I don't have little clumps of dark wax in there and this will simply obscure it. This will be very subtle, but instead of having that light white appearance, it will have a lighter appearance. Dark brown look in the corners, looks like I bought this cool vase for $3.99 at Goodwill.
I love how it looks. I'll be updating it a little to fit the decor better, so I went with the green base. I'm just going to clean it up. I think it looks great sitting next to my lamp and I'm going to add these two twigs I picked up a while ago at the dollar target spot for three dollars. I also have this set of candle holders. which I looked at thrift stores and I like the gold ones, but I have a lot of brass candle holders so I'm thinking these need updating too. I am painting the candles with a matte black spray paint, these candles will really help balance the left side of my dresser.
I've had this tray here for probably almost 10 years and I don't take it out or use it anymore, so I'm wondering if I can update it a little. a little bit to make it fit better I decided to spray this piece with an off-white color which is not really a color I use very often and I just sprayed the back as well and then once it dried I turned it over and I think I was done doing about three coats on the front of this. You only want to use very thin coats once they have had a chance to dry.
I put it on my dresser next to those black candle holders and I'm going to add a succulent from Dollar Tree just to finish it off, now I turn my attention to the other side of my room. I have these two silver chairs and I wanted to change them up a bit so I added two gold pillows that I borrowed from my living room. Although I have so many pillows in my house and I feel like I change them all the time. I have all these books in this container. I think they're from my dining room and they're too cool, so I'm going to pull out some of these because I can use them, so I kept my white table that was in the center of these two chairs, but I'm going to use two of my heart books underneath just to add a little. more dimension and texture.
I love using hardcover books in my decor. I just took out this basket. I think I bought it last year for maybe a quarter, so I have an idea for this, so with this basket I decided to cut off the handles because I was going to give it a completely different look and I thought it would be cool, like a little planter. I went rummaging through my craft room and came up with this really cool ornament. You may have a tassel, bangs, or similar ribbon. you can use it and I just cut it to fit around my basket and then hot glued it in place.
I think this piece looks great with an Ikea plant in it and this plant container literally cost me. I think it was such a fun room and so easy to do together with this small group. I'm going to place a piece that I bought at Hobby Lobby on clearance that will complete my table. I found this basket that I thought would really work. Well, in this room and I went and borrowed some pillows from the living room. I think one of these photos of the dining room I'm going to add to my basket and then add a emotion that I also had on hand and I think this makes the space look more welcoming and inviting.
I think the Dollar Tree vases are really cute as a set and I think I can update them to fit the decor better, so for these glasses. containers I'm just going to use my painter's tape and masking tape on the bottom. I'm trying to make that line as straight as possible and I'm going to repeat that for my three vases now I'm not worried about exactly where this line is just use your best judgment. I wanted to be able to see about half of the candle below. I'm going to use some Waverly black ink and then I'm just going to do two coats on the bottom half of my faces.
I'm going to remove the tape once it has a chance to dry and then if there are areas that were left over, I'll just use a pair of scissors and remove any access to try to do that. as straight a line as possible from there you just have to add your candles back and I think they will look great sitting on my daughter's piano and here is the final look at what my living room looks like, all transformed, leave me a comment, let me know what was your favorite project from this video if you are interested in my wall prints I will link all the information in the description box if you are new here make sure you are subscribed I post two DIYs every week and if you missed the last one.
