May 30, 2021
Hi everyone, I'm Shannon and welcome to my channel, the daily DIY. I was so excited to come across all of these amazing giant planters at Dollar Tree. I grabbed a bunch of them and I'm going to show you some really simple and easy tricks that you can do. use these

flower

pots so

anyone

can make them. I also want to thank the original super glue for sponsoring today's video. Okay, so I'm going to take you to our front porch and we're going to make a really quick and easy side table to put next to me. patio chairs you will need two of the

dollar

tree

planters also a large round piece of wood and we will also use total technology with the original super glue this is an amazing adhesive guys it is a heavy duty adhesive and sealant. one that works indoors and outdoors so it will be perfect for our side table because it will be outdoors and it also works on all materials so it will bond our plastic and our wood together so you only need one glue for this, which is so helpful when it comes to creating quick and easy projects, so what I'm doing here is I'm taking all of my tech and I'm applying glue around the bottom edge.

I turn this first pot over and run that glue. around the edge and then I also added several large drops of glue so that the next pot that we are going to place on top right side up can adhere and stick to itself and to you. I just want to make sure I press them firmly and this only takes about an hour to dry but it takes about 24 hours to cure so like I said this total tech adhesive works great for all materials so I'm running this glue through all the way around the top edge of that top pot and then adding the wood right on top of there, I made sure to go around the entire edge of this pot.

I didn't want any kind of bugs or anything climbing in there, so this is going to Seal and make a perfect seal to hold everything together. This is a piece of wood left over from our wedding. Obviously, I just turned her upside down. The pots measure approximately 14 and a half inches wide. You just have to make sure you find a wooden one. round piece that measures 15 inches or more, of course you want to make sure to press everything together so that it sticks and adheres into one large piece. Now in the middle part I decided to add some of this

nautical rope as well, you can see there's kind of a weird gap there, so I just took my rope and put it on the total tech that was right on the middle, I wrapped it a few times and then tied it with a knot in the back, so this literally only takes a few minutes.

To do so, I will also have more information on total technology linked in the description box below so you can check it out after this video. This is the perfect cute side table addition to our front porch. Next, we will make a raised table. ice bucket using a dollar tree planter and a cheap tomato cage that I just found at Walmart and what I'm doing is there are three spikes on the bottom, let's turn it over and push those spikes towards the edges so we can secure our pot in the middle of them and press it into shape, then what you're going to do is take the top of those spikes and fold them in and over the rim and rim of your pot and that's going to keep your planter in place to make it really sturdy and safe so I decided to use mine as an ice bucket but this is also a different way you could even add plants and use it as a raised planter and now I'm going to go out of my zone of comfort.

My friend Natalie from Design to the Nines is the one who inspired me to do this specific project. Can you see her. I'll link it below. She did an amazing concrete trick. one of her recent videos of her and she gave me the confidence and courage to try it. I'm using this one with commercial grade or Quick Crete 5000 that I bought from Home Depot and what I'm going to do is basically add it to one of the pots and then glue on one of the dollar tree broom handles, you want to make sure you remove the handle, the plastic handle of your broom handle sticks and this is another tip I learned from Natalie, she simply put her bag of concrete which is very heavy on a table and then I pushed the concrete into the container that was on the floor or in the ground and this way you're not killing your back so I just added a little bit of concrete and a little bit of water at a time and stirred until I had a thick consistency so here's a look at what I basically got in the end.
It doesn't have to look pretty because we'll cover it later so the potholes aren't a big deal once it was all mixed together I took the handle of my dollar tree broom and placed it right in the middle of the concrete and used some tape of painter to help support it so it would stand up while the concrete dried and then I just let this sit for a couple of days. It was a couple of days before I got back to this project and I realized that after setting all this up, I never removed the sticker from the handle, so instead of going to the trouble of trying to remove it. the sticker i literally just took some spray paint and sprayed it black it just disappears you don't even know it's there and you don't even have to worry about all the goo and everything that comes with removing the stickers like that that once the spray paint was dry I removed the tape you can see that the handle of our broom is now completely secured and it's very very heavy so it's a little bit difficult to move which is good and that's what what we want now, we're going to use one of these plant hangers, um or some people use them for dollar tree shelves.
I can't believe it's only a dollar, it's a good deal and I kind of marked on the post where I

needed

to drill my holes so you'll need two holes. using a metal drill bit with my drill to start and line it up so I knew where to do the second one. Now I definitely wanted this to have a lot of support and stability and be usable, so I headed to Walmart and grabbed one. of these 5 8 inch rods are only 97 cents, we will insert them into our broom handle and add our screws through our little hook on the metal post and then into that wooden dowel that goes to give us so much stability and will allow heavier plants to be hung on this plant stand.
I ended up making two of these because they turned out so cute and they are so useful that you could put flashlights on these so many different things. I even added a little more of the same decorative rock in our

flower

beds here to cover that ugly concrete, but it also added even more weight to the base to make it much more stable. I would love to know if you created this project that you would put them in and what you would hang from them because I feel like you could hang patio lights on them. You could, of course, hang flower baskets, lanterns, or some sort of citronella type thing to keep the bugs away, so I'd love to know all about it.
You can leave them in the comments below for me, so I had a lot of fun with the first project and I'm kind of hooked on this particular one. Now I decided to do another concrete project. You will need two planters and yes, you will need some Pam cooking spray. Add that spray to the inside of just one of your pots. The second pot will be your mixing bowl so we will do the same, we will add concrete and water, mix it well until you have a smoother consistency, this time it doesn't have to be as thick as the first because this one we want to look good now, once that I had the concrete to the thinnest consistency that I wanted, I took it and I poured it into that second pot that had the Pam cooking spray that will allow us to remove this and basically it's going to be a shape and we're going to create a plant stand with this, like this that after having all the concrete. from the first bucket to the second bucket again, a unique item here are the handles for the dollar tree plungers yes, you just want to remove the rubber part, you need three of these in total and we will place them in the planner but first make sure you move it, make it smooth, lay it flat, get the air bubbles out and then just in an equally spaced triangular shape and that way you want to place these rods or plunger handles around the edges and in the middle. of your concrete, I'm also using some painter's tape here to keep these rods from moving, so again, this was a couple days later, after I was able to get back to this project, I just took the tape off, did some small movements and movements. out of this pot and took out that plant right now.
I'm going to use a sanding sponge that's also from Dollar Tree and I'm just going to go over the entire concrete part to smooth out any of the rough edges that I decided to use. Go ahead and paint mine white. I'm using chalk paint for this because chalk paint sticks to pretty much anything, so it sticks to both wood and concrete. I had to apply a couple of coats and made sure to get underneath. there also to have good coverage in every way, so another idea for this would be to cut the rods. You can make them smaller or shorter.
You could tuck your legs in a little more and get an even taller look. Just play around with your design and you'll get different looks. If you think you'll try specific projects in the future, give this video a thumbs up. I love it. I can't wait to work a lot more with this medium. Often now after these tests we are going to create a very simple storage solution idea using this planter. It was orange and I wanted this one to match our decor so I took my oil rubbed bronze spray paint and gave it a couple coats.
I will say this was a project from a previous video, if you like dollar tree organization

hacks

, I'll put a link to them at the end of this video so you can watch them below because it's a great, simple, inexpensive hack, and that's why I also wanted to include it in this video because it still had to do with these pots, but I basically just spray painted it, put it on our fireplace, rolled up some blankets and got a dollar blanket storage solution, so cute , so easy, again. I'll have that Dollar Tree organization hack video pop up on your screen so you can watch it below if you haven't subscribed.
