Winter Camping on Modified Skiff - Fishing Catch & Cook and Catfishing Remote Rivers

. Well, if I'm going to make a

camping

fishing

and

cook

ing video on this boat, I need a place to lay down. and sleep, let's do something about it, so, now we should go explore a river we've never been on before. Sounds like fun? Your destination is to the right. Well, this is the first time I see this river. shallow let's make a plan b look at the size of that snake hey buddy you're alive oh my god you're a big snake oh that's a big snake well this seems doable but I just repaired my boat after hitting a trunk like two weeks ago. so I'm not sure if I want to go out and put another hole in it.

It's sunny and warm. What an autumnal day it has turned out to be. Yes, let's go see the water sprout. Well the river is definitely flooded but this is a lot more feasible I feel like putting the boat here wouldn't be a suicide mission here sit in your way you like this jacob yeah that's cool uh look there's water in the forest look at this this is absolutely beautiful look at all this flooded wood, but we'll come back here and explore a little, try not to break our propeller and if all goes well, hopefully we'll find a place to fish, hear something big and nice right there, well I've already done that .

I've never fished this river before, so I really don't know what we're going to

. I guess there are channel catfish here. bites so let's stop and move and try another spot oh it's mine well I ended up breaking a rod and didn't

catch

any fish so this wasn't my best day of fishing but anyway we'll weigh anchor and come back to the boat ramp, well here we are in the second week of December and it's a little cold out here, but we're not going to let that stop us. I'm going to pack up this boat and we'll give the camp fishing and cooking video another video. try hard, we already have everything packed, we're going camping, well, it took me a little longer to get there than I planned and we only have an hour and a half of sun left, so let's try to meet up. a place to fish before it gets dark and see what we can do.

It's really nice today, it's about 60 degrees and sunny, so I guess the fish might be a little shallow basking in the sun, we'll see. I've already covered about 15 miles. and I still don't see much of anything and it's a little cold, I might have to start thinking about finding a place to spend the night, so I'm going to camp tonight. I've got a little noise in here so I can light a fire if I'm too cold or need to stretch my legs, but I'm going to cut some bait and check the rods and see what happens.

You know, there were some signs down here and we had some problems. close, but I don't know, it looks as good as any place I've seen today, well, here's my bait. I lost my net earlier this week, so when I went to the supermarket I bought a bunch of fish for bait. These white perch that I'm going to cut here also have some shrimp in a bag. The current is breaking pretty well here, so I'll use my big rods to hook them through the nose so it sits in the current aerodynamically well. Three rods, I can only use the rods that have more than five ounces of lead because the current is pretty good here, so I cast them one, two, three and I have the baits on so if something comes up. and hit this, I'm going to listen to it, but these are all really big hooks and really big baits, so it's going to be a pretty sizable catfish if I get hooked, put my coat on, and this rod just took a big hit.

I knew he was going to do it. I was late tonight so I didn't want to worry about cooking, so I got a nice big plate of mamadoufu, ground beef tofu, and this weird red sauce you used to eat in Japan all the time for dessert. I got some of the halloween candy guys no we're in the fish it's still good still good it just tastes like perch now well it's getting really dark and it's getting really cold so I guess I better start getting my fishing gear out. camp. I brought the thermarest mundo king 3d xxl that I have. a lot of camping mats and this one is definitely the most comfortable, the warmest, the biggest, I'm only seven o'clock and I'm freezing my butt off.

I'm so cold I have to get into my sleeping bag so I have my bag torn up here and you can see how I have it set up and I'm going to sit and watch my fishing rods from the comfort of my zero degree bag oh no I can feel my toes, but it feels so good to be in this sleeping bag, oh my gosh, and I can see my fishing rods pretty easily from here too, so this isn't that bad, so mind you, This river is apparently tidal when we get to where the water level is.

I was up here and the water has been coming down pretty aggressively, it's only 7:30 so I don't think I could go to bed yet if I wanted to, but I'll sit here and watch movies on my phone, stay tuned. my cane tips and eat rice pudding and cookies and I'm just going to relax a little, I must tell you that I really miss not having my children here with me tonight, but they had school and, frankly, it's very cold and I'm a little bit I'm worried they'll sleep on this boat and fall off, so for now it's just me.

Well, guys, it's cold out here, but it's absolutely beautiful. I'm sitting here on this perfectly still, cloudless night, looking at so many stars and there aren't any. a single piece of artificial light can be seen anywhere it's just beautiful my hanging rod has been taking big hits the sinker is stuck and the fish has grabbed the bait maybe i'll let go my best bet oh it broke oh Damn we had a Pretty nice catfish there, hit harder than I expected, okay, put three rods with the bait up and back and we'll see what happens. There's an angry beaver over there that keeps splashing me.

I don't like beavers. I had to fight our 30 pound beaver rabbit once on a date with my wife, knocking him unconscious in front of a group of boy scouts. Good morning. Oh, I slept really well last night and it was so fun to sit here looking at the stars and I saw. So many shooting stars, probably 20 or 30 of them, but the tide has gone out hard and our boat is sitting in the mud right now, so I'm sitting here just building up the energy to get out of my sleeping bag and do something. oh, it's actually a lot warmer this morning than last night, a nice blue catfish, he's so engrossed when the catfish get hooked and they can't pull anymore, they like to spin and this one just spin and spin and spin, ah, there we are.

Well, I really want to eat a catfish today, but this is enough to feed my whole family for two days, so I will send you a lot of small fish, which I am sure we will eat. I'll eat one. one of those good because the tide has calmed down the currents calm down a lot too so I can bomb it away from obstacles much better hi babe things are going well so far this is lovely we packed up we ate now let's taxi get up and get out of here so Let's try another place. How beautiful this is.

It's going to be a wonderful day. Okay guys, we've got a long straight stretch of river with almost no wind and very little current, and the bottom is very consistent, so we're going to try drifting, which is a great technique when you're not quite sure what to do, just go and drop your platforms to the bottom, just let them bounce on the bottom, oh our first customer saw this, oh everyone. Well, nice, healthy blue catfish. I bet we're going to get a lot of these today. Check it. I have the Garmin live scope here. This is a live image of what's going on under that rod.

You see, that's my sinker and my bait. there it just crawls from the bottom if something comes up investigate it I'll know look look there look at that fish that's a fish right there oh yeah that was just a little fish came up and grabbed it and you could I saw it going all over the place and the tip of my rod was bouncing, let's see if it comes back okay, landed that fish and had a couple more good bites, but you know, I'm going to try another drift, we're somewhere else. Let's try it, holy mackerel, look at this, that was the fiercest take.

Oh, that guy was trying to turn the boat over. I'm sitting there looking at the phone and all of a sudden the boat starts tilting like what I think it does. that's the biggest one of the day, yeah, it feels like 10 12 pounds, let's try somewhere else, well you know, I'm having a lot of fun catching these big catfish, but I'd really like to catch a small one to cook up, so I'm going to try these shrimp, sometimes I do better with a little catfish when I use shrimp, nice piece of shrimp, right there, oh the fighter, there we go, nice blue on the shrimp, ah, there we go, that's it what we do.

I'm looking to switch to shrimp, it worked, look at that cute blue catfish, well I think I just made my lunch, oh look at this, we have round two, oh he liked that shrimp, these blues are just healthy and chunky. Well, that was a pretty good drift, but I'm getting hungry, so I think it's time to make some lunch. Well, anchored in a nice little spot to make lunch and of course we'll do some fishing while we're at it whenever. fish, I like to see what's in their stomach and, uh, let me show you, look there's a clam right there, blue catfish, I love to eat clams, so make carp, two nice white catfish, I'm getting ready to cook my catfish and look.

What's coming upstream, holy mackerel, that makes my floating fishing shack look a little tiny, doesn't it? I've got a couple of army surplus tents, a camper, a boat in the back, look at that redfish thing, magic here and heat this pan up once. the butter turns brown, leave those flames there, oh you might have done well to take this leftover rice from last night and let it soak up all the butter, seasonings and grease, blackened catfish and rice, done, crispy blackened catfish with rice fried. another chunky blue catfish, you know, this has been a really fun project and I really enjoyed this camping trip, but it's getting late and I better go home because I have a long trip.
