in the microwave, popcorn, those bags. which we've done things with before in a dryer, so we're going to get a dryer so we don't have to ruin a good one and it should at least be working and we're going to try it out, okay?

Like, here's the basic idea. Several people have asked if we can cook microwave popcorn in a clothes dryer. We've seen videos that appear to show this working, but we can't see what's going on inside the machine, so we want to make it in a way that's possible. Not only are we going to buy a dryer, but then we're going to modify it by putting a window in the door so we can see what's going on inside the dryer while the popcorn hopefully pops. There's no way this can go wrong, let's go buy a dryer. Well that's convenient, our dryer came back to the studio, it's plugged in and working, that's great, but our door, as you can see, is still pretty dull.

More Interesting Facts About,

will a dryer pop popcorn...

Now some of you may be thinking, but wait, I have a dryer with a clear door. At home there are many of them like this, triple the price yes, this was cheap, we have this cheap one that has the opaque door and now we are going to put our own transparent door, plus it

be lighter and bigger and in general, I think this one is the way to go, so we have a sheet of Lexan here, so we can basically put in a window almost that size. We are going to cut a hole a little smaller than the leaf that will be this one.

It is double sided but it is quite thin. I think it's just that thickness between the two layers. We're just going to use a metal saw to cut it out, then we're going to drill holes in the corners, maybe more than just the corners and then additionally. I think we'll have a prototype coat of caulk to form a little more of a seal. How to cut a dryer door is not something I've been taught before, so I'm going to make it up like I think like when we started drilling into our microwave, we hoped it would work and it worked fine, so we'll use the saw to cut it out, but the blade The saw doesn't fit into this small hole, so I'll see if I can take a chisel and hammer and just cut a line out.

Well, I prefer not to answer those questions because of the embarrassment it would cause me. Say no to fill with popcorn. I don't do it, so I don't do it. I don't care, okay, oh, great, look at that perfectly straight, look how straight it is, eat. I'm very proud of you, you know, for your efforts. Thanks, now that Nate has put a big piece on his door, I have a magnet here, it's nice. a strong one and we're going to try to clean up all the metal shavings left behind oh, that mostly works, wet Boston probably flopper, let's mix up a batch of proto putty, hey, apply it around, smooth it out a little, smooth it out gently. and once it has started to cure, I think we can screw it on after peeling it off, we have this protective plastic, this one is not particularly transparent, but once we remove the protective layer from both sides, it should be nice and transparent. very nice I like it I think it will stay in place it's not one hundred percent perfect it's not airtight or anything like that but it doesn't need to be that's not the goal it's just to keep things from falling out and letting us look in at the side and it is a great sight.
I'm really happy with how our camera angles look, we're only here for a couple of minutes, maybe we have a camera running inside too, which is why I have this piece of tape. Here it is okay, come on, it's quality connection work. We actually won't leave that camera on all the time for a couple of reasons. Seeing everything spin like this would be really cool because you can mount it so it spins bluntly. You will look like it is the outside door. I'm keeping an eye on it but I think the heat will cause the tape to fail and then it will just fall off so it will be on for a minute but then just take it out, how many should we start with?
Let's start with one, so just one on this side up. We have shown that that is not the case. It doesn't have to be this side up, but I like it, this is how we put it there. Yes, it will stay set like this all the time, definitely, for sure, the high heat will turn off. Yeah, I have it set for about 70 minutes, we probably only need about ten. I think that's what I saw before, but press the button if you have to. a full 70 minute cycle to run and really pop the popcorn. I'm going to be very disappointed.
I don't think it's actually spinning, it just stays between the two of us and has enough momentum to make a full turn. running for half an hour at this point, yeah, I mean the air coming out the back is pretty warm, it doesn't feel like it's burning and we have the temp set to max so I don't know to look out the door. It doesn't seem like anything happened. It doesn't look like it's started showing up, but I think we'll open it up and see what's going on. Kali has some ideas on what we can do to change it up a bit. it's a little bit of popcorn oil, so for the most part it just slid back and forth between two sides here, it didn't flip over when you went up and around and opened it up and see you inside, well we know the oil is not a burst pimple. there okay, so here's my idea, when you put just one item of clothing or towel in the dryer, it usually gets trapped like the bag of popcorn did and it just stays in one place and doesn't actually open. tumble dry.
I think if we put a few more packets in and try to get them to hit each other it might help. I'm not sure we'll find out if we put a towel on them, maybe I'll use a towel. put a towel with them, okay, it's been about another half hour, yeah, it looks like we have some loose kernels in there, it sounds like popcorn, yeah, okay, let's take this, it happens, oh no, uh, well , it's not busted. It's very hot one of the bags opened just a few curls hanging in there definitely at least one is soaked in oil a good extra dose of a second Turgeon will be needed which is a towel the color of popcorn and probably flavored would you like a gift of popcorn?
It doesn't smell like it, it smells like a movie theater, do you want to try what you were talking about putting a bag of popcorn right on top of where the hot air comes in? Sure, let's try it, why not? So it's too greasy in the dryer for the tape to hold the bag in place right now, so we're using our neodymium magnets to hopefully hold the bag over the heat vent to see if that works well, so we'll just blow hot air on it and leave. put it back on for 10-15 minutes maybe even 30 and we'll see if it pops everything, it's been about half an hour again, yeah just the bag of popcorn hanging in front of the heat blowing on it, literally couldn't get any. hotter in the dryer if we tried not in this dryer not in this one I don't know what the temperature variations are for dryers.
I can't imagine any getting too hot because then that would be bad for the clothes. I think, but no, it can cook something that you probably don't want putting your clothes in it. It's true. What we have? What we have? We don't have anything, not a thing, not a grain, not even the color variants. I was hoping this would work. I actually thought maybe I would and again, I'm not saying that no one has accomplished this. I'm saying I saw a video of someone putting popcorn in a dryer and then taking popcorn out. Don't know. I don't know if it was real, but I don't know if it was fake.
If there's anything you think we did wrong or could do to get a better result, we'd definitely love to know if you've tried this and it worked, then that's it. weird, so it's probably not good for your dryer, but I definitely want to know what you did different than what we did because if we can make this work, I want to see it happen, you know what I just realized. No, this is the dryer in my apartment. Guys, that's no, no, you know we always have more for you. Click the box at the top to watch our latest video and I'll see you in the next one.
