Why it might be time to SELL my Lamborghini Countach (a FAKE replica is better?)

Jun 14, 2024
Welcome foreigner to Hoopies Garage, the dumbest automotive channel on all of YouTube and this is the flagship of my fleet. It's a 1989 Lamborghini Countach, 25th Anniversary Edition, and it's not only the flagship, it's also one of the elder statesmen. I haven't kept cars. It's been around here for a long

time

, usually one or two years, but this one is going on three, so it's the third oldest car in Sea North. I think it's in the garage or maybe the bedroom. It is very close to the SLS AMG, my grandmother's SL that she gave me when she had it. in high school so my first car so obviously I'm going to keep that maybe the Jurassic Park Jeep and then this is one of the Elder cars that I've had for three years and I love the car. but one thing that has been good and bad in the three years that I have had this car is its rapid appreciation when I bought it, it was basically a little over six figures, it was all the money I had at that

time

to buy these two Lamborghinis. from an eccentric doctor who lived a few miles from me, but nowadays its value has skyrocketed, this thing is probably knocking on the door of being worth five hundred thousand dollars, which is great to have something for those who appreciate their Value, I buy a car. and not lose a huge amount of money, it's out of character for me when it comes to Hoovey's garage, but yeah, it's very expensive now that it's basically a house, what is this thing worth and I'm afraid to drive it, it's not used . a lot, but when I drive it, which is certainly becoming less and less recently, I had to change the battery because it's been sitting so long, I have a lot of fun, other than I don't really fit into the thing.
why it might be time to sell my lamborghini countach a fake replica is better
I'm going to give you a three year update on ownership of this car. It's been surprisingly reliable and wonderful to own, something you wouldn't imagine for a vintage Lamborghini, but I have a few things I'll be dealing with at some point in the future. road that will be very expensive is not there yet, but when I drive it, it draws a lot of attention. The two most common questions are: what is it? Lamborghini Countach obviously, but if you know what it is, ask me if it's real. and the reason for this is that there are so many

replica

s out there that this was the wildest and craziest thing seen on the road in the 80s and especially this 25th anniversary edition looks so ridiculous it's hard to believe when you see one on person. it's real and that's because there are also a lot of

replica

kits out there, basically Horatio Pagani pinned this last years count design to match the Testarossa craze, so you have the side stripes down here. a big wing all the time and more craziness up here, just the most ridiculous and crazy version, but believe it or not, this is the most common version.

More Interesting Facts About,

why it might be time to sell my lamborghini countach a fake replica is better...

The last two years they sold over 500 of the 25th anniversary edition compared to, I think, around 2000 units total. So a large portion of them are these, but there are probably even over 500 replicas, probably thousands of them, mostly based on Pontiac Fieros, but some are their own custom made tubular chassis or something else. I've seen some that are Pontiac. Trans Ams and my friend Bob in Las Vegas have become something of an expert on counter replicas. I think he now owns two of them and has given me a standing invitation to come out and drive them. He says they are a lot of fun, so I'm going to compare them first hand how my count, which is so valuable now, I'm a little afraid to drive it because of that and the huge maintenance bills.

Could you have the same percentage or a good percentage of fun with a

fake

one? I'm going to go into this with an open mind and see how good they are. I mean, obviously the Lamborghuntage itself is kind of a home-made hodgepodge car, not built to the same quality that we would expect from modern cars, especially with Lamborghini. Volkswagen recently acquired them, well it's been 20 years or 25 years now, they were quite handmade and handcrafted cars, where the quality is a little hit and miss, so today I'll give you a tour of that. the in-person retelling will sometimes seem a little

fake

and then I'll take it for a spin, talk about what it's been like owning this and then we'll go to Vegas and see the fake Josh, yes, but before we get into this today, I would like to I would like to thank bird dogs for sponsoring today's video.
why it might be time to sell my lamborghini countach a fake replica is better
This is a weird time for me to wear shorts on camera, although I wear them all the time, but I try to avoid showing my chicken legs on YouTube, but somehow bird dogs even look like me. The pipe cleaners look good and that's because they are designed to fit Slimmer through the thigh and leg so your legs look more sculpted, if you have any sculpting at all, and they feel much

better

than the regular shorts that They are made of a rigid and restrictive cotton. That's because bird dogs invented their own cloud-shaped woven fabric that looks like a khaki color but provides plenty of stretch and doesn't restrict movement.
The fabric also has an anti-odor and sweat-wicking fabric to keep you fresh and dry all day long. With built-in support they are very comfortable, especially in the summer heat. I get out of breath just doing some of that stuff on the ground, so go to bird dogs.com, enter the movie promo code to get a free Yeti style. mug, it's here, yes, a free Yeti style tumbler with your order, i.e. movies from birddog.com or use promo code hoovies to get a free Yeti style tumbler, you won't want to take your bird dogs away from us, we promise that I should have put water.
Here, oh, like I said, a lot of people think when they see a Countach that it's a fake and even I, when I saw one before I had one, I wondered if it wouldn't come very close to it and I couldn't say it, but there are a lot of things like this , they look like they belong on a fake Countach, but that's how they put on these windows here, just a very rough edge and then these reflectors around the car that are necessary, but it looks like it's just added to something you'd get at Home Depot or something Similar with the taillights.
I think they are shared with another generic car, more weird reflectors everywhere and everything looks like some kind of exposed screws held together, you know, it's just not stylish when you get close to it, this car only has 20,000 kilometers on it, that explains why it's it holds so well, but you know the fiberglass is definitely not the quality of, say, a C4 Corvette, I mean the mirrors, you know they're uh yeah. It's just not very well put together when you look at the details on this car, it's very very original, it's never been repainted, as far as I know, it's never had any kind of cosmetic work, but you can see little things, little imperfections on the paint.
That's how these things came out of the factory, so when you see a real one it's understandable why you'd do a double take, but the driving experience, well, as far as I know, it's not even on the same planet and that's because of the wonderful broadcast here. Take a look at the rear, which is a big V12 and a big mess of stuff. You can see the fuel injection system, the mechanical fuel injection, and all the rest of the mess that goes into it. Now, the only thing that has been replaced in this so far. Being original is the Magneti Morelli ignition box which started acting up on mine, not to the point of stranding me, but it was failing a lot so I replaced it, but that's the closest I've ever come to being stranded in this car Otherwise it's just been a normal maintenance and everything has more or less worked on this, the only thing that's really broken is the CD player inside the car, the Alpine stereo, it's not my Top Gun soundtrack and That's apart from the ignition box, the only serious problem.
I've had it for almost three years which is crazy, I mean there have been a few little electronic Gremlins and all the things can be easily fixed, but overall the car has run great and I've put almost 2000 miles on it. this moment. in almost three years, so I haven't driven it as much as I said, but we're going to take it for a quick little ride here just to cool you all down and cool off before I go driving, the fake McCoy backing up a Countach every time. In a no rear visibility experience you have to get out and look over the wing, but of course once you're in and there's a squeeze, I'm six foot two and I shift and my head hits the roof so I have to bend over, if it was an inch taller it wouldn't fit in this car, but once you're in it and hear that V12, I seriously doubt the fake ones can even come close to this experience, the change is really wonderful compared to the Ferraris. from the RSA a test toaster or something or they have to be heated and they feel very crispy.
This one works well instantly and feels great. One of the best parts of this car, if you like it, is the shifting with the nice V12 gearbox. and then you hit the road and thank you sounds amazing and feels so special. I seriously doubt a fake one can offer an experience even close to this, I mean that noise, the feeling of it, I mean you're absorbed. on the road and you feel like you're in an old spaceship, it's a lot of fun to drive, but I'm going to approach this with an open mind so we'll get a good look.
I came to Bob's Lair in the video and met him years ago. ago when he brought his Rolls-Royce Phantom that he bought like mine he still has one of his but he is famous for his movie car replicas he has built over 40 backups of the future several Echo Ghostbusters at a time he simply loves replicas he grew up wanting to build versions fakes of real movie cars or, well, real cars and, yes, he is the video bob, is it the left ball or the right ball, is it one of these balls that hangs too low, what do you think the magician Tyler video, Bobby, can't I?
You see, I'm working on my Ferrari Testarossa and I pay 200 an hour to have Wizard watch it on his phone console, so I didn't think he wouldn't do that anymore. Oh yeah, well what ball is it? Don't know. I'll probably need you to fly over here and you'll have to feel each one to see which one is soft, well one is supposed to hang lower than the other, that's not the case, that's not true, listen, this is real. Ferrari tester, that's what the guy at the car dealership told me. I think your problem is that the motor is in the wrong place.
They don't put Ferrari engines, not in the Testarossa. No, the Testarossa has 350 TPI. You know, these Italians keep stealing these. Pontiac engines and I'm getting really tired of that, okay? I'm going to spend some time with you wizard before you build me up another minute. I have Tyler here, he's fine, he's fine, thank you. I am getting tired. of these Italians stealing our American engineering, this is yes, a little, look what Ferrari says, a little problem in Paradise there, so this is the Miami Vice Ferrari tester. I guess the original Miami Vice car was fake, right, the Daytonas, well, First, yeah, that was the story that Ferrara was so upset that they were using this replica that they offered them free testarossas if they promised to blow up the fake ones, so that in the episode they blew up the Daytona, but the testers that they were black and then they didn't like the way they looked on camera at night, so they painted them white and that's the story, yeah, well, obviously this It's not a Testarossa, but it looks like it has something real, it's an 89 parts, yeah, you know.
The thing is, you can fit in this, it has air conditioning and you know, power steering and all the modern conveniences of the car, yeah, well, someone has a legit cell phone, oh my gosh, and it looks, I mean, the badges look real. a real Lamborghini steering wheel so I'm almost there yeah well the most convincing part is probably the rear except it's a little short obviously I think these are from a Hyundai Excel that's fine and fully functional , obviously you need to air out the trunk, but I know I can go shopping in this car.
Look, I can't do that in the Ferrari. Well, I want to show you my latest acquisition. Now I know you like exotic cars. Yeah, and you know I'm trying. to reach your level, you know, I'm here in Las Vegas, I don't live in the big time in Wichita and I want, I want to try to reach the hoobie level. I hope this is not what you want. "Yeah, my Lamborghini Countach, this is real, this is legit, I got it from this guy named Sam Hart, he's a British guy, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he recommended this to me and said he's like Bob if you want a Real Lamborghini." Kotosh, go get one of these and here it is, look at this, um, right, oh, oh boy, it's a work in progress.
I hate to break it to you, Bob, but uh, everything about this is not this, look at that, that second piece of back plywood. no, this is uh, this is a fine burlwood, you know, like my Rolls-Royce has fine mahogany yes, this is a fine pine plywood and a Cadillac V8 no, this is an Italian, a transverse mount, uh , from an Allante That's Italian, I'm Telling you these Italians keep trying to steal our American engineering. This is what really goes into Countach. It's a Cadillac 4.9 from an Allante. Well, I came to see a much nicer replica of a Countage.
Hey, hey, hey, and this is nice, it looks like someone sat down. in it, uh,an elephant or something, but I know you're a fan of these. I know you have a soft spot in your heart growing up with these replicas. Well, when I was 16, you know I used to walk by the In the back of Kit Car magazine and I saw that five thousand dollar kit car ad, I remember them, so I sent them a thousand dollar deposit and then they didn't. I was able to pay the rest, so they sent me. Well, then send me a thousand dollars worth of parts, so this was like to get the kit on, yeah, okay, it's not like this car, this is not a Fiero from 1986, no matter what you may think, so what they did was they just sent me that.
Wing sent me the wing and I attached it to the back of my black Trans Am I had at the time and you know, because I love Knight Rider, I had a Trans Am and that was the beginning of my kit car build. I put it together. Ridiculously big wing on the back of my '82 Firebird, I painted it black and it was kind of like a Lamborghini Night Rider and now you've basically made a living building humorous replicas. The Deloreans, of course, the Ecto, everything, yes, you. I've done an amazing job, but now you're branching out into exotics and that's okay, if you don't like this, no, I'm sure this is my store inside Las Vegas, here's this one,

better

.
Oh wow, I did it. just spontaneously Pop, I think, I think, but um um, what do you think of this one? This is not a 1987 Pontiac Fiero despite what you may believe. This is a real Lamborghini code. Look at this. Look at the engine compartment back here. There isn't one. Two piece piece that is quality, but the first thing I notice is that the paint job could be better. This is my factory, but oh no, Lamborghini stole this from Pontiac. We're going to have to cut it. It worked before. There is. that's what I was looking for, come on, okay, now we don't have enough room under here because I have the DeLorean, oh yeah, let's get it out from under the floor and expose it to the sun here.
I really want to see this, let me take it. this comes off first so it just slides on it's like 116 degrees now it's still really hot um but yeah that just comes off it's pretty empty even though it's made of metal one of the things I like about this company is their nice frame inlaid metal um, that's similar to the Viper, actually better than the Viper. I had to buy inserts so my old one would have something like that compared to the factory toupee. It actually doesn't sound that bad, so just put it in gear because it has an automatic transmission. transmission is very good for some reason it is automatic I have to say Bob it looks very very real proportionally it seems correct but smaller I am right you know that's what my wife said on my honeymoon that's me yes I was born myself Lambo yoga yes but this roof comes off completely comes off completely holds on with screws okay, interesting speaker placement yeah, um, the interior is a little disappointing down here I don't know, this is what a contash is really like um, this is genuine The Italian speaker fabric okay, it's an Alpine radio, okay, that's where I keep extra screws.
One plus is that there's a lot more headroom in this thing, but obviously the quality falls apart on the inside, they basically want people to think from the outside you're driving a count and then you get a little lost in the details when you it's about the interior oh okay that's a little crooked too hmm and then yeah an automatic transmission but you couldn't give him the Countach so if he wanted a car this is the way to have a Lamborghini Countach but the fact my head not hitting the ceiling is nice, it has surprisingly good clearance, yes you need a drill to lower the window, it holds on with wood screws so just bring some of these little wood screws with you, yes, and then that holds the door together, so Bob, if I can ask how much this beauty cost you, you know it's

sell

ing for real quintashes and in the five hundred six hundred thousand dollar range.
I bought this for half of that 20 grand. I don't think that's how the math works, but 20 grand. I did not do it. I did a good job in math, but I thought it was a good deal from here. It seems real, it is not. Too bad you notice how the doors, although they are a little heavy, oh, how do I get out? Yes, there are no door handles. There are actually some buttons under the dash. You will feel them. They are on the right. They're like titties, oh that's right, I found one, yeah, yours is the other one, okay, I hate door buttons, guys, if you're building a kit car, don't put the door buttons, they stink, That's so 90s, just put a door. drives well, I can tell the clutch doesn't feel very good on this, no, this is not a very light color, no clutch needed, it's a special Italian and I guess we don't want to fasten our seat belts, no, because I I mean you. you want to get thrown, you want to be able to escape as fast as possible, but there's a tilt wheel and you don't turn on the lights because once they go up, they don't come back down.
I have to admit it. Bob, this is more comfortable than a real city, you have like two or three inches of headroom, yeah, even with the pointy highlights, okay, look what it has, some pool, it has some, I mean, he tried, although it's a squirrel, yes. yeah, tight, it definitely feels a lot lighter because it's a lot lighter, so yeah, okay, let me dive into the corner here, it gets tight so we can surprise you, it handles pretty well, it's got a good suspension package, In fact, it's impressive. In all seriousness, the Fiero guys over there, they put a lot of time and effort into their grooves, they just celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Pharaohs, and wherever you go, there are a lot of options for these cars because there is a cult following. to be delivered is obviously much better, the Fiero is a nimble little car, not piano-level white, but have you had a funeral?
Oh, what's up with this? What makes it different from a real Countach, aside from all the obvious, it theoretically uses this. as a daily driver, the KIRO is a car that you find that has a couple hundred thousand miles on it, people that use it as a deadly driver and because I'm a big guy like you, I'm six-one. I wear size 14 shoes. I don't know if I could physically drive a real quintash. I mean, you somehow managed it even with all your manhood and girth, yeah right, no, it's just that I'll do it too even though I don't fit in, but I have tons of headroom. here and I would be very, very sad and I'm sure you would be very upset with me if I fail this because it's hard to replace because there's nothing you can't replace yeah, there's nothing, there's no Parks, but I'm No, I'm not scared like when I'm in the Countach, yeah, I feel very relaxed and comfortable driving this and I imagine I have the same reaction as when I drive the real thing, oh 100, when I drive this up and down the Las.
Vegas Strip there's no one who thinks it's not real and if they do they're still in awe of how cute it is Marion has been calling you every day begging you to

sell

them in the car oh she only checks in once every six months anymore or less. Hey, how are you, Tyler? Yeah, okay, I'll bring it, maybe I don't need it anymore, maybe this is what you should buy, one of these, sell that Italian cookie of yours, yeah, I mean a nice interior and maybe that. A Cadillac over there and some air conditioning and that was the plan because I bought that car to put the Cadillac V8 in it because it has about twice the horsepower of this one.
Well, there are like three engines you could put in a Fiero. put something more than um I'm out, oh I feel like I'm on the dock, well you get up on your account that people think is real and then you come out like that on whatever influence you had, it's just Absolutely gone, unfortunately , hey ladies, exactly right now that Bob just gave birth, I guess, well, yeah, I feel like he just had a passion, yeah, in today's video, thank you so much for watching.
