Why England Will ALWAYS Fail Under Southgate | Matt Le Tissier

Mar 30, 2024
In 20 years time,

will

we all be following the Saudi Arabian league and supporting Saudi teams instead of the Premier League? No, do you think that is something temporary and that it

will

disappear quickly or do I think it will? Possibly it will go the same way as the Chinese did when they were throwing away all the money for a few years and you know, this is a project that is underway, but seriously, it is going to be very difficult to try to compete. With leagues that have over a hundred years of experience and history behind them to try to usurp those leagues and get everyone to follow them, it will be really difficult to care how much money you invest.

I think China showed that it is. and we have seen that some of the similar stadium numbers are not as full as we expected, given the players that have been signed. I mean, have you seen any of the day's games? No, no, I can't say it. No, I've seen clips of very famous players' goals online and that's it. I'm sure they'll try to beat us to trying to see it even if you know you don't want to. to be propagandized to go you must see this is great, it is really good, you know, a bit like they are doing with women's football, yes, yes, is it possible for a professional footballer at the highest level, let's say a player of the first league make it 18 19 20 now, to be a normal person given the life they have led, getting to that point is possible um, I think with a good foundation, good parents, good people around you, it is possible, okay, um uh, and not let things go like this. your head, yeah, I'm a little worried about how the football clubs you know treat their players and, um, I think they give them a false sense of how important they are, yeah, the grand scheme of things, yeah, yeah, um, so I.

More Interesting Facts About,

why england will always fail under southgate matt le tissier...

I think it's something that could work with football clubs. I could do better. So it's possible, I do think the answer would be if you had the right people around you. Yeah, I can only imagine if I had known because I imagine a lot. Of these kids, they're going to know from their early teens that they're going to be good enough, that they're going to be professionals, that they're going to make a lot of money, that the almost godlike status that some of these kids have to get in schools and things like, I think The only thing I would instill in these kids, you have that kind of attitude, is that I would make them think that every day it only takes one tackle and one injury, yeah. and everything you dreamed of is gone M, so be humble and don't get carried away, yeah, yeah, and what players do you find really exciting, what kind of younger players, players that you're really excited to see in the next 10 years sort of, um, I really like it. uh, watching Phil Foden play is obviously taking a bit of a toll now that he's in his early 20s, but he's someone I like watching Kevin De Bruyne.

He obviously he's an older player, but again, someone I like to watch Cole p uh Cole Palmer at Chelsea, I think. he's got some good potential there um I like what he's done um and the attitude he shows I quite like um I think in terms of the type of young English talent Jude Bellingham for me it's just wow, I mean I went to see him It was at Wembley, the game between England and Italy, the first time I saw him play in person and I couldn't have been more impressed. Honestly, he was everywhere he went.

I didn't see any weakness in his game. Yeah, um, so he's one for me, he's absolutely huge, he's going to be a great player for England in the future and almost the type of player in a Gaza-like situation, uh, where you feel like he could almost take us to winning a tournament on his own, yeah, that's awfully cool, yeah, um, and I hope you know that he continues his development. What he is doing at Real Madrid this season is simply ridiculous, incredible. It seems that when I see him play he looks like a man playing with boys.
He looks like a 16-year-old playing with 12-year-olds on another level. He has that attitude. Someone so young that he's not afraid to take an older player off the team. You know, even on the national team. Yes, he is not afraid. He's got a great attitude and I can see, I can see why Birmingham thought so highly of him that they retired his shirt when he left when I was 16, are you sure how the hell you're playing? He was quite a player. with a t-shirt and then and now I'm going to say oh, okay, it's true that someone saw something and uh, yeah, so I think he's the one for me, yeah, are England going to win the Euro?
The only reason I doubt it is that I do believe we have the ability to do that? I'm not sure we have the right coach to do it. Well, I think we have the players. I think they've put us in two situations where we could have won big tournaments. and I think the lack of I don't want to say I don't want to say bottle, it could be a coach's ball to go on and really take that game by the throat and you know, one against cro and the sem5 of the World Cup they sat down a little bit, almost We invited them to come with us, you know, they were a good team, not a great team, but I thought we invited them and let them beat us. match and I think the same thing happened in the final against Italy in the Euros, where we went one up and after a couple of minutes, we had them on the ropes easily if we had really gone for them in the first half. game won at half time, yes, and he never did that, and I think if we had had a better tactical manager with more experience, I think we would have won at least one of those tournaments.
Me, player by player, in both. scenarios like the Head and Shoulders of the England team above um yeah, it's interesting that with situation G it seems that because England have underperformed for so many years for so long, to have someone who maybe achieved close to par was seeded as massive progress, I think that's a really good way to put it actually and not being able to take the next step in both scenarios as soon as we faced a good team, that was really yeah, I think given the fact that you know that Gareth can say oh I got to a World Cup semi-final I got to the Euro final um the way I look at it is how many other coaches could have done that yeah I think I think with those players I think I probably could have done it, you know.
Qualifying campaigns are a piece of cake and with the teams we beat along the way, I feel like he didn't really do anything special that deserved any kind of praise, I think we've done that. I think you put it perfectly, it's about p with the teams we play against, that's the least we should have done, yeah, we should have done it, yeah, so I like Gareth like a punch, obviously I played against him and I played with him a little bit in England uh and he's a nice guy um I didn't agree with his STS on encouraging kids to get vaccinated uh I

always

disagree with him on that um but as a nice guy, um, you know, no, He's not unpleasant in anyway, but I don't think he has that extra to be some kind of top-level coach who will lead us to win a trophy.
I hope I'm wrong too. I hope, I hope, next year. I come back and things are going well, you don't know what you're talking about because I would love for England to win an important tournament. You know, I've never seen that in my life. I was two years late for 1966 and all that, so, yeah, I hope before I pack up from this planet I can see how to win a major trophy, that would be fun. It looks like we have an exciting race for the Premier League title. This season, do you think we'll have one that goes all the way and who likes it?
It looks that way. I mean, the league leader at this point in the season, normally the wheat has been separated from the chaff and normally a two-hour race, so for it to be as close as it is right now, I think it's shaping up to be one of the most fascinating Premier League titles we've ever had, yeah, you know, especially if a team like Villa continues. the shape they're in, if Spurs can get back in it, I mean you're looking at five teams that probably at this stage of the season are realistically thinking, GL, I've got a chance, yes, but no.
This has been going on for quite some time, so how do I see it playing out? I mean, you're in trouble, a lot, you got De Bru back in January, that's going to be huge for them, uh, they'll probably go and win their last 14 games. The season again wins the title by six or eight points, but I don't know, I think this season it could be much closer. I think Liverpool and Arsenal will have more say and you know, Fon Villa is still at home. The form alone is just incredible, it's 15 home wins on the spin which is just magnificent form so Emry is really uprooting trees there um so yeah I think it's going to be a very title race closer.
It would be difficult to support. against Man City, even in the position they are in at the moment, given that they will have De Bruyne back and if they get everyone fit, I mean they are capable of doing it, there are not many teams that are capable of string together 12 13 14 wins in a row, but yes, they can, as long as they keep Roger in shape. I think the stats would say yes, he's a pretty important player for him and he is, I mean, if you have Ro Rodri and De Bruyer in the middle of it. Midfield, yeah, that's special, I mean, you haven't lost many games.
I obviously worked at Sky for a long time, who are your favorite experts? uh, working now. I really liked Graham Sooners. Oh yeah, I thought Grahe told it like he did. Obviously he left last. Last season, yeah, um, but I enjoyed listening to him, um, I really enjoy hearing about football

matt

ers of all kinds, um, actually, Simon Jordan, okay, yeah, uh, speaking of sports, I think he makes a lot of sense. on many topics, um, so. I find it quite funny um Gary Gary Neville uh I think most of the time it's pretty good. I think sometimes he, he, he allows his Man United Colors to shine too much, yeah, um, but on a lot of issues.
I really enjoy listening to it, um, yeah, that's it. Jamie Carri is not someone. I was going to say he's not on the list. No? No, his voice bothers me, so make sure you subscribe and hit that notification bell.
