Why boys are failing? | Philip Zimbardo | TEDxRawaRiverSalon
Jun 06, 2021Between them, they play an important role in raising future generations. We must encourage
boys
, men, girls and women to become heroes every day. We must encourage heroic imagination in all schools. We want them to become products of the HIP program. HIP is a heroic fantasy show. We know: the Heroic Imagination Program in San Francisco, which I created several years ago. We teach people, especially young people around the world, how to cope, speak and act in difficult and challenging situations in their lives. These difficult situations can occur in your family, your school, your community, and your organization. We teach people how to have bold dialogue, how to challenge unjust authorities. I was in London recently, in Trafalgar Square, there are statues of soldiers on horseback who won battles. What caught my eye was a wonderful golden statue of a golden boy on a golden horse. Underneath it says: "Today's youth are tomorrow's heroes." This is what we try to achieve through the Heroic Imagination Project, to form a new generation of young people, men and women,
boys
and girls, who consider themselves heroes in the training stage. Every day you show your kindness, caring, and compassion to improve the world for the people around you.As I said, in your family and in your school and of course, in this group, we do not exclude children. Because one of our tasks as champions in the training phase is to make everyone feel respected and important. The American HIP now collaborates with the Polish HIP. It is possible to turn our young people into true heroes every day. Together, we and they will make a better world for everyone. (applause)
