Which Drill Bit Brand is Best? Let's find out!

Jun 02, 2021
Are you really getting a better quality bit when you choose that more expensive

brand

name set or should you stick with the less expensive ones? Today we will try 11 different

brand

s, the least expensive brand that costs less than 10 and the most expensive. It costs 40. Let's see if that set of 10 can outperform the set of 40. We'll evaluate the speed and quality of the finish using this half inch mild steel. This can be very interesting to see what happens to these twist

drill

s when they come into contact with some 304 stainless, this hardened steel will really put these twist

drill

bits to the test.
which drill bit brand is best let s find out
Each drill bit set proves to have at least one half-inch drill bit and the cost had to be under $40 per set. I will try the twist drill bits using the 15 inch craftsman drill press I want to try a small wheel on the drill press to apply a constant downward force. I'm also going to adjust the amount of weight applied to this wheel so that the amount of downward force changes depending on the diameter of the drill bit and the type of metal we will be drilling. Fortunately, this drill has a speed chart for the size of drills we will use.

More Interesting Facts About,

which drill bit brand is best let s find out...

We'll start with half an inch. drill and since we'll be using some mild steel for the first test, the table says between 340 and 510 rpm, but I'm going to set this for 340. I have 15 pounds of weight on the wheel, so I'm going to go ahead and turn it down and see how much force is applied to the weight scale 111.6 pounds, so we will use 111.6 pounds of downward force while drilling the mild steel. I'm going to apply 10 drops. of cutting fluid to the top of the bit and allow it to run downward during the drilling process, when the drill attempts to go through the steel the bit will stop suddenly, at

which

point the test will end with the least expensive option.

The brand we will be testing includes these Black and Decker black oxide drill bits, 18 pieces for only 9.97. Okay, the temperature is about 160 degrees Fahrenheit. There is no damage to the Black and Decker bit. Actually, it looks pretty good. Very small amount of wear on leading edge. and only 10.98 is this artisan brand 14 piece gold oxide drill bit set. A very impressive job done by a craftsman compared to black and deck cutting through this steel and about twice the speed, the bit is much cooler at only 117 degrees Fahrenheit, there is no visible damage or wear on this drill that costs 14.97 are these black oxide standard point drill bits made by Dewalt.
which drill bit brand is best let s find out
It is the fastest time, but the temperature is about 120 degrees, very close to that of the craftsman. There is no visible damage to the Dewalt drill, as are the purple bits. Hyper Tuff also costs 14.99 for their black oxide bits, although the difference is that you get 29 bits with Hyper Tuff instead of just 14 with Dewalt. Two minutes and 32 seconds for the 170 degree Fahrenheit Hyper Tuff on the tip of the drill. It has a little more wear than the other brands and costs 14.98. This tool shop brand sold at Menards is a 29-piece black oxide set that lasts approximately two minutes and 19 seconds for the tool shop bit.
This drill is quite hot at about 190 degrees Fahrenheit. Definitely not the same quality of drill that we have seen with some of the other brands, some wear and tear and a chisel that also costs 15.97. This Ryobi brand 21 piece black oxide drill bit set lasts 53 seconds for Ryobi at 165 degrees Fahrenheit on the drill looks like a very small amount of wear on the chisel that costs 15.98 is this 17 piece black oxide set gold made by matabo and sold at menards 134 with metabo the drill tip measures approximately 110 degrees fahrenheit with no visible wear with metabo

which

costs 18.99 is this 29 piece titanium drill bit set with standard tip sold in transport port 2 minutes and 14 seconds with the warrior 130 degrees Fahrenheit without visible wear with the warrior that costs 19.99 also sold in port transport is this 17-piece titanium drill bit set from the brand Barra, with a lifespan four times major titanium coated 55 seconds 120 degrees Fahrenheit barrel looks like new costing 24.97 is this 15 piece titanium split tip set from milwaukee brand that claims to have shock wave impact service designed for metal minute nine seconds for milwaukee milwaukee looks like new at a cost of 29.99 the second most expensive drill bit set we will test is this brand master force now includes a 21 piece titanium drill bit set minute and 41 seconds for master force approximately 135 degrees with no visible damage in master force the most expensive brand that I will be trying this Bosch brand that costs 39.99 for only 14 pieces.
It now claims to have a 10 times longer lifespan. M42 8 percent cobalt in 51 seconds with the Bosch 120 degrees, the Bosch looks like new while the Black and Decker drill. He was a little slow, he did a pretty good job as far as the quality of the cut, while the craftsman was very fast, you can see he didn't provide a very smooth finish. It was the fastest drill at 47 seconds and did a very good job, nice smooth finish with super sturdy tools. The workshop is not as smooth as some of the other brands. Roby did not cut as cleanly as some of the other brands.
Metabo actually did a pretty good job. The warrior actually looked a little better. which metabo bauer seemed to do a great job milwaukee is very smooth and did an excellent job master force did a pretty good job but I think some of the chips caused some of this damage. I have to say I definitely think bosch did the

best

job this is an extremely smooth finish if he is looking for a brand that cuts fast with the least amount of downward force or pressure on the twist drill. The third least expensive brand, the Dewalt brand did an excellent job of coming in first and did a very clean finish.
Cut Bosch, the most expensive brand, was a close second and delivered a slightly cleaner finish than DeWalt. Ryobi Bauer and Milwaukee also made quick work of mild steel and next we will try these drills on spring steel, this is half inch steel from an old sickle cutter and this is extremely hard. I'm going to stick with 340 rpm on the spring steel, since this is spring steel. I went ahead and drilled unfortunately the black and Decker is not making any progress he is just making metal. powder, so we didn't stop the test, the chisel looks a little worn on the blackened platform one minute 53 seconds to the craftsman, just like last time, the craftsman just didn't leave a very smooth finish, a very small amount of wear on the cutting edge plus testing the dewalt chisel, like last time, the dewalt finish is pretty smooth, very small amount of wear on the dewalt hyper, we're not going anywhere with hyper, so I'll go ahead and add five more pounds just to see.
If you just need more weight, apply it three minutes and six seconds, like last time, hypertext provided a pretty smooth finish, definitely some wear on the chisel as well as the cutting lip test tool, just as we did with Hyper Hard. I'll add five more pounds for the tool shop. The chisel and cutting lip definitely show a lot of wear on this drill. I'm ending the test with Ryobi just because it's not making enough progress. Some wear on the Ryobi test metabo. I'm going to add five more pounds to the matabo. He was cutting for a while and now he's practically stopped.
Unfortunately, Metabo just didn't make much progress in this hole. The cutting lip of the boom just doesn't seem very sharp. and neither does the chisel. I'm going to add five more paths to the warrior. The warrior isn't going anywhere fast so I'm going to double the original weight amount from 15 pounds to 30 pounds which translates to over 200 pounds of downward force on this drill there is definitely some slight wear on the chisel and the cutting lip. I'm going to add five more pounds to the gazebo fire it still doesn't cut very well so I'm going to go ahead and add another 10 pounds, that's about 220 pounds of downward force, the power did the job but it took twice as much force than some of the other drills, there is definitely some wear on the cutting lip, testing the milwaukee, well, 20 pounds on the milwaukee up to 30 pounds on the milwaukee.
The milwaukee drill actually looks pretty good, maybe some slight wear on the chisel adding five more pounds to the Master Force. I'm adding 10 more pounds to Master Force for a total of 30 pounds. Master Force has very slight wear on the chisel starting at 15 pounds with Bosch definitely the

best

drill we've tested, but this thing really broke it in a very impressive time. Hey, the boss drill didn't heat up and this still looks new. Very impressive drill. The only three twist drills that were able to cut spring steel with approximately 111 pounds of downward force. Craftsmen Dewalt and Bosch, some of the other brands were able to do very quick work with the spring steel, but they required a lot more pressure or force than you are likely to encounter.
The following test is useful if you are looking for an affordable set of twist drill bits for a drill press or a tool that offers plenty of leverage. For the next test, I'll use a 3.8-inch twist drill bit on a half-inch piece of 304. Stainless steel with approximately 175 pounds of pressure on the twist drill. I'll set the drill rpm to 340. Black and Decker about a minute 25 seconds for Black and Decker about 27 seconds for Dewalt craft testing the drill belts just work well enough to draw me in once again with the Dewalt 23 seconds with 12. hyper hard, unfortunately , hypertuff is simply not up to the task, tool impact approximately 24 seconds with tool shot 27 seconds with ryobi metabo 27 seconds for a tabu test port cargo warrior 39 seconds for the port cargo warrior approximately 20 seconds for bauer milwaukee 22 seconds for milwaukee master force 19 seconds with master force bosh 24 seconds with bosch drill presses provide a leverage advantage over simply using a hand drill and applying 175 pounds of downward force the 3.8 inch twist drill allowed Most twist drills made quick work of 304 stainless steel, the Black and Decker struggled a little more than the competition and the Hyper Tufa simply couldn't drill stainless steel thanks to the heat and speed. a big difference when it comes to these twist drill bits that lasted into the past.
I made the mistake of destroying some very nice twist drill bits because I use too much speed and not enough downward pressure in this next demonstration using the proper feed and speed and We'll see if you can completely cut this wrench. The twist drill for Dewalt made quick work of this wrench going through it in about 20 seconds and cutting through the steel next. I'm going to increase the speed to 3100 rpm as well. quick and I'm going to remove a lot of weight and let's see what happens with the bosch which again is a better twist drill in my opinion well the boss drill did a terrible job and that's because it didn't have enough downward force and I had too much speed unfortunately, that's how I destroyed many drill bits in the past by simply using too much speed and definitely not enough downward force.
It's always a good day when I

find

a product that costs less and offers more than the competition and today Dewalt did just that, cutting faster than the competition and also doing a good job on cut quality. I also like Bosch, although it is the most expensive brand, it would be my If I had to cut a lot of hard steel, like 304 stainless steel, I read and respond to as many comments as possible, so if you have an idea for a video, I hope you Please take the time to leave a comment, I just want to say thank you again for watching the video please be careful and I look forward to next time
