I get it, it's a little strange to make a deep, meaningful connection with a little green dot, but it's something you'll really have to work on to get right. The video is a conversation and it's creepy and weird if you don't

look

someone in the eye. You are trying to establish a connection with someone. You want them to feel like they belong and if you look like Mr. Sly or Mrs. Sly in this way, I'm not so sure, that makes people not trust you. And remember, we want people to know that they love and trust you.

Here? Here? Here? Hey, it's a little weird if I try to make a connection with you like that, right? I have to be looking right here. So I want you to fix that because it's very important for you to connect with your audience. The video is a conversation. So today, let's go over two things you really need to do to make that connection with your online audience. Okay, the first thing I want you to do is look at the camera. Sure, Tracy. It's obvious, however, it's not that easy to do. I struggled with this myself at first.

I see my clients do it all the time. Your inclination is to look at yourself. Now

when

I look at myself, can you see how my eyes move downward? Now I'm looking at myself, not at the camera. Now, I'm connecting with the camera, so you want to make sure that on my laptop there's a little green dot. You want to make sure you're looking at that little green dot. If your inclination on your laptop is to look at yourself rather than at the camera, put your script in front of you. So I have my script in a Word document and I just put it over my face.

That way, if I find myself falling, I'm like, oh no, come back up and look at the camera. Or if you're using your

phone

, it's even a little more confusing. Obviously, we want to film this way. The camera is here. It takes a little work to get used to, which brings me to number two: the thing to do is practice. Take the time to do it right. This is the connecting piece with your online audience and if you move around and look around, it's strange. We don't want you to be weird. If you were chatting nose to nose, toe to toe with someone and your eyes kept moving, they'll think you're not interested and it's even worse online because they don't really know you. and we need them to know you, love you and trust you.
So please take the time to practice. Well, if you found this video helpful, and I hope it is, I want you to hit that subscribe button and the notification bell and I'll see you here next week. (upbeat music)
