What If I Was A Pokemon Gym Leader?

May 30, 2021
Hi, I'm Mike Pokey Tips, Mike, and I feel like at some point every Pokémon fan imagined themselves as a real-life Pokémon trainer somewhere in the vast world of Pokémon. I can't even remember a time when I was in elementary school where I and my friends on the playground pretended that we were some kind of elite four where we're the best trainers in the entire school and you couldn't call yourself a true Pokémon master unless that you were able to defeat us and our mewtwo groudon team in a bunch of different legends and battles, so today I'm going to go back to that time a little bit.
what if i was a pokemon gym leader
I'll tell you

what

it would be like if I had some tips. Mike was a gym

leader

in the world of Pokémon. A fan requested this video on my Instagram after seeing some other poketubers make this type of video and I thought it was a really fun idea so without further ado let's jump into it so first of all I feel like one of The most important thing about being a gym

leader

is the location of your gym. You can definitely see that, especially in newer Pokémon games, like Sword and Shield, the theme of your gym usually fits the location it's in, like the wonderful Balloon City. all the majestic energy around him has a fairy-like gym.

More Interesting Facts About,

what if i was a pokemon gym leader...

I started playing Pokémon with the Pokémon Gold version, so the Johto region has a special place in my heart, so naturally I would like to set up my Pokémon gym somewhere in the Johto region, but there is a problem in the johto region, well you already have eight gyms so you could replace one of those gyms in the johto region which wouldn't be too difficult, a lot of the gym leaders are easy to convince or you could be more creative and make a gym in my own location and I think that's

what

I would like to do, so I would set up my gym in Lake of Rage.
what if i was a pokemon gym leader
Fun fact if you didn't already know that Lake of Rage was originally supposed to be its own. small town or area in Pokémon Gold and Silver that had a lot of buildings and a Pokémon gym a long time ago, but at some point in the development of the game they said no, we won't do that, we'll just turn it into a lake. some houses there and put a giant shiny gyarados in the middle, that's cool. I love that I can go there and get a red gyarados, but that leaves us a lot of room to develop, so I think I'll just move a There are some trees around and I'll be able to put my gym right here, yeah, that would put my gym pretty close to Mahogany Town or Gym Leader Price but you know he's getting a little old maybe he wants to retire or we could just fight to see who can run a gym and I've thought about it and I think I'll be a dark type gym leader now I chose the type dark for several reasons, number one, I realized that I like a lot of dark type Pokémon there.
what if i was a pokemon gym leader
There are so many great ones like Umbreon Sneasel and Weavile Absol. I just like a lot of dark type Pokémon and number two when you look at the Kanto and Johto regions together and you look at the 16 gym leaders, the only type of gym leader that is. is not represented, there is the dark type and also the fairy type, but the fairy type did not exist when johto first came out, so I feel like that would fit very well with kanto and the johto league, so neither type would be repeated and like us. I've seen in the Pokémon anime that there could definitely be more than eight gems per region, as shown by Gary Oak and the 10 gym badges of him.
Now, another reason why I'm a dark type gym leader is that I find the type itself very interesting in Japan, the dark. The type is actually called an evil type, but I feel like all Pokémon are inherently good and there really can't be any evil Pokémon. Well, maybe aside from Whitney's Miltank, that thing is pretty disgusting, but come on, you can't look at this cute little umbreon. and tell me it's an evil Pokémon, so as a Gym Leader, I would raise and train dark type Pokémon and teach trainers who wanted to train with me that dark type Pokémon are not evil, they can be fantastic and very powerful companions if I know how to train them properly, but for my gym puzzle I would do pretty poorly.
Creating the gym puzzle is probably the hardest part for me because I'm not really good at creating gym puzzles. I enjoy the gym. puzzles like crasher wakes controlling the gym tides so you can navigate, herding wulu and the pinball machine puzzle and

pokemon

sword and shield, that one is a lot of fun, but i always thought for a long time that if i had a gym, I would have a direct path to me so anyone could approach me and challenge me, but what's the fun in that? So I think I'll go with this ridiculously evil gym puzzle as soon as you walk into the gym, the gym guy comes.
He depends on you and grabs all your Pokémon, takes the pokeballs from you and throws them into a kind of machine that spreads them around the gym and your task as the gym challenger is to find your Pokémon. Are you going to beat someone in the gym without any Pokémon, so you will take your first steps in the gym, but as soon as you start walking, the lights will go out, you will have a small circle illuminating the path around you, something like that like Brawley's gym in ruby and sapphire, so you can't really see.
Now you're way ahead of yourself, at first you'll just be wandering around the maze and eventually you'll find one of your Pokémon, but after you find a Pokémon, that's when the challenge really begins. I will let my gym trainers start walking towards the maze and if they find you, they will fight you using their full equipment. Now it won't be too difficult, they only use two to four Pokémon at a time, so you won't automatically lose to them, but immediately you have to overcome the challenge of being outnumbered and under my tutelage there will be some pretty good trainers, so If they find you before you start collecting your Pokémon you will be at a huge disadvantage, the light around you will allow you to see where you are.
This will get bigger when you find one of your Pokémon or if you defeat one of my gym trainers. So how do you challenge me? After I find three of your Pokémon in the dark maze, then I will enter the maze myself and I will find you before you have all your Pokémon. Well I will challenge you to a battle with my entire team and we will do it right away so the puzzle is like a race against time because you want to find your Pokémon as fast as possible before one of the trainers finds you and it is also like a Slender Man type horror game where you just don't want to get trapped in the more Pokémon or pages you find, the harder the maze becomes now if you somehow find all your Pokémon in the maze, the boom lights will come back on .
I'll congratulate you and we'll jump right into a battle, so once we start fighting, what Pokémon am I going to use? I definitely won't limit myself to

pokemon

from just the kanto and johto regions because if I do that I'll have the wonderful option of umbreon murkrow sneasel houndour hound doom and tyranitar and while it would be a full team of six pokemon not only not the pokemon I I would start is Weavile Weavile has always been one of my favorites. I'll probably even have him by my side while I'm in the gym and I think with his high attack and speed stat he'd be a killer start as far as what moveset I'd use.
Something like this is definitely fake because that would give me a huge advantage when starting the battle, being able to make your Pokémon flinch and deal some damage to you, then the other three moves would be the night slash with ice punch and the taunt, which HE. There are definitely some better moves, but I'm a Gym Leader in the game. I'm not going to use the strongest moveset out there, but I think this entire moveset is decent, gives me good overall coverage, and plays with Weavile. The strengths of being a fast, strong Pokémon that hits powerfully plus taunt are there to ensure that my opponents don't start getting into mischief and then from there, on the opposite spectrum, we're actually going to go with a tankier Pokémon umbreon, I think as a Pokémon Gym Leader I would have spent a lot of time training my Pokémon so if possible I would use a shiny umbreon because that blue color is so cool.
Now with umbreon's moveset we are going to go much more defensively. I'll start with Toxic to give it a good way to damage a lot of Pokémon on my opponent's team, but we'll also give it the healer role as a Gym Leader. Maybe I can use some hyper potions in my battle. even a full restore if I'm lucky, but I also want a different way to be able to heal my Pokémon, which is why I will give it the movement wish so that Umbrian can heal itself and also its teammates if I feel it is necessary to do a combo, we want to also need protection and I think as a finishing move we would give him a dirty play.
I would assume that to take out this umbreon my opponents would want to bring out Pokémon with high attack stats and would use the foul move. plays to our advantage here, as it deals damage based on my opponent's attack stat instead of mine, so my first two dark types are pretty standard Pokémon, but I think as a gym leader it will be wise to cover my weaknesses, which I know would obviously be Fairy-type, which is honestly a pretty annoying type for a lot of Pokémon, having to deal with Bug-type, which I don't really think is a big deal, and Fighting-type, which sometimes Weavile especially wouldn't like it, so it would cover those weaknesses.
I will bring a saberye to the team sabli is always a Pokémon that I have found interesting. I love his design with all the gems and I love his personality, especially in Pokémon Battle Revolution. When you use this Pokémon, it is so animated that along with its writing. I would do very well on my team. I'm definitely going to want this sable eye to have the hidden trickster ability that allows all of my status moves to go first, and to play along, we'll definitely give this stabilizer some status moves. use, so I think number one would be to give him a willow blade, being able to burn my opponents is pretty important because it lowers their attack stat and does a little bit of damage each turn, on top of that we definitely need a recovery move . so recovering, especially with joker priority, will work very well here, then for the last two movement slots I think I'll give him imitation and shadow ball, this allows him to use both types very well and imitation has the good ability to be able to knock down my opponent's objects if they use any.
My team's stable eye would definitely be more of a stun Pokémon than one I use for attacks because its space stats are a bit low again. I could definitely optimize this moveset a bit. more and make him stronger overall, but I'm a gym leader, I don't want to go too crazy here, although I don't know, I'm starting to get into hidden skill territory that could be considered a little crazy and keep the madness going next, I'm going to use greninja greninja, one of my favorite starter Pokémon of all time and again, it's a good example of how dark type Pokémon aren't exactly evil.
I just don't think evil Pokémon are revealed. As a starter Pokémon, having the Protean Hidden Ability on this greninja would also make it really unique on my team, so it can easily change its type and get a stab attack bonus on all of its moves and also make sure it doesn't get hit by super effective. they're easy now, moveset wise I'd probably go with something crazy like this surf is a nice strong water type move, u turn because it's just one of my favorite moves of all time and then from there , you could perform stunts in this greninja.
I know it's definitely not a standard greninja move, but I really want to mix it up on my opponents and make sure they don't know what's coming. Stunts deal double damage if you don't have an item in your hand, and as a Gym Leader, most of my Pokémon are. I'm not going to have any items just to keep things fair so this move will naturally do a lot of damage and it also covers both fighting and bug types which are something my team would be pretty weak to and ultimately if I do . able to get a move tutor, I would love to teach this greninja gunk shot because again, that will cover the fairy type weakness, so overall this greninja would be my answer to a lot of potential problems that would come my way. a lot of bad matchups for me and generally being a strong Pokémon that can easily get out of bad situations.
Now my fifth Pokémon is my most versatile slot. There are plenty of decent Pokémon that would fit here, like having an Alolan Muk. dark type and poison would cover many of my weaknesses, but astrainer in the johto region I don't think I can get one of these that easily, plus I'm not a big fan of the Alola mock so I'd overlook it so I think I'd rather go with the hydraegon, now that creates a little bit of a problem, so gym leaders in johto, their Pokémon are a bit low level. The eighth gym leader, Claire, her strongest Pokémon is only at level 41 and normally getsis in pokemon black and white has one at level 54 and johto well it's known for Lance and his low level dragonite so if you could get low level pokemon I could get a low level 2 pokemon and I'm going to use a low level high dragon and as for the moveset, I think I'll go with the tried and true, I'll get this moveset, we'll teach him dragon pulse, fire blast, focus, blast and surf, all those moves will give him This Pokemon has really good coverage, it can basically hit a lot of different types for super effective damage.
I could definitely see this Pokémon giving them a lot of trainers. I struggle in difficult times and to make it even more difficult, I will.Give this Hydraegon the Citrus Berry, I think it's a pretty standard item for Gym Leaders to give to their Pokémon and I think that would make it nice and challenging for any trainer that wants to come my way and finally as my last Pokémon, this is a nice It's an important decision that I have to make, I think I will use a gyarados, but the pokey tips gyarados are the water and flying type, it is not the dark guy, you're a liar, well, we're not going to just go with a normal gyarados. with a mega gyarados, that's right, I'm going to bring mega stones to the johto region and I think it's super appropriate for me to have a gyarados in my number one team.
I'm going to be a gym leader in the lake of rage, home of the red Gyarados, so I have to represent my Gyarados fandom by using a Gyarados on the team and it's also another very powerful Pokémon. I don't need to explain to you why Gyarados is a strong Pokémon in terms of ability, I'll make sure it has intimidation. so before I evolve it, it will lower my opponent's attack stats. Now for the moveset, we'll go with the nice sweeper moveset Gyarados, cascade it with a nice water-type physical attack move. crunch so he can use that dark guy, we'll also bounce him because you know why not bounce, it's a pretty memey move.
I love Mimi's moves. It's not a bad move either because she has a chance to paralyze my opponent and provides a flying type. cover that my gyarados would appreciate and for the last move we will give dragon dance this is my dangerous Pokémon back this will be the challenge right here if you can defeat my mega gyarados then you definitely deserve my badge so that's my team and if you understand Obviously you now get a gym badge for the name. I was going to go with the obvious one, the dark badge, but Piers and Marnie already took that one, thanks guys, so I was also thinking that the rage badge would be a good name because You know my gym is located on the lake of rage, but that makes dark type Pokémon look evil so I think I'll go with the midnight badge because when you think midnight you think dark and it's also a little past midnight right?
Now when I'm recording this video I think it's pretty appropriate and there you have it, the Pokey Tips gym, I think it would be cool, it fits right into the league of Kanto and Johto and adds a pretty unique look for a gym leader and that. gym puzzle that gym puzzle will be pure evil. I hope one day we see a gym puzzle like that in a Pokémon game. It would be crazy to face a disadvantage like that, so now that we have my gym, I want to hear about your gym in the comments section tell me what kind of gym leader you would be, where you would set up all that good stuff or if you want to even make a little video In response to this, I think it would be great to see a lot of people. create your own vision of what it would be like if you were a Pokémon gym leader my friends if you enjoyed this video make sure to give it a big thumbs up right now and also subscribe to the channel if you are new and enjoy my Pokémon content as always many Thanks for watching and my friends, I'll see you next time, maybe someday at my gym.
