. So what exactly is a web note? Well, to the untrained eye, what does a web note look like? a standard one dollar bill and in a sense it is really just a standard one dollar bill and the difference is not necessarily in the bill itself, but in the printing method that the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing uses. The US uses to print the one dollar bill today.

Dollar bills are all dollar bills. I should say that they are printed with what is called the intaglio printing method and what it is essentially is that it requires three different printings for each dollar bill, there is a printing on the front, a printing on the back and then there is a third . printing that prints the stamps and the serial numbers now, as you can imagine, there is some inefficiency in that process, you have to print it three different times and only 32 bills fit on a single sheet, that's how the US government realized. that the Bureau of Engraving and Printing decided they wanted to try something different so there was an experimental method of printing called web printing or web press printing and essentially what it was was instead of having pre-cut sheets that held 32 bills at a time. once used a big spool of paper in a continuous roll, so imagine if you've worked at a cashier or something, you've probably seen the cash register rolls of paper rolled up and it keeps printing, it keeps printing it keeps printing and that's exactly what they decided to do with the web press: they had one big continuous sheet of paper and now you could print it all at once, that sounds fantastic so you would think that would be the new printing method, however there was a problem, What happened is that, apart from the fact that there were a lot of mechanical errors with that machine and they had to be constantly fixing it and that increased expenses and of course time is

money

both in a literal and figurative sense for all those breakdowns that They would suffer and it would cost them more and more.

The other thing was that at the end of the day the final product really wasn't that good. I don't know if you can choose. I see it on camera, but if you look here at this word one, you can see that it's a little bit patchy, it's actually not the best print quality, so when you have a process that breaks down a lot it ends up being more expensive and not You don't even deliver the best product, you end up canning everything, that's what makes these bills rare. were only printed in series from 1988, 1993 and 1995.
