We Ranked Every Impact Driver Brand From Beginner LVL To Expert LVL (What Level Are You?)

Jun 07, 2021
What's up YouTube? My name is Nick for the hashtag, very cool gang. I hope you are having a great day and here on this channel we are very known for testing tools

every

Friday around 5:30 pm. m. EST, we do a live stream where we test two different tool

brand

s against each other. We are known for testing

impact

driver

s and I want to focus on

impact

driver

s for today's video. I want to divide impact drivers into four different categories for

beginner

s. Slash, DIY learning professionals and

expert

categories, today we will find out which category your favorite

brand

falls into.
we ranked every impact driver brand from beginner lvl to expert lvl what level are you
Stay tuned, so we'll start with the first category, this will be the single use impact drivers category. The first brand I want to start with in this category would be a well-known brand from Walmart and that is the brand known as Hyper Hard Hyper Hard Spin at Walmart for a couple of years now. I'm sure you've heard of her. It is not the best, it is very economical. I will say that's probably one thing in its favor. We've tested super tough tools in the past. It hasn't held up that well. They are launching a new cordless line of super heavy duty tools, but I would still rate them. as a single use DIY cut because they simply aren't, they just don't hold up that well and frankly I don't think a professional should use hyper-resistant ones, if you disagree let me know in the comments section below how you feel you feel.

More Interesting Facts About,

we ranked every impact driver brand from beginner lvl to expert lvl what level are you...

As for how it's tough, I'm sure there are some hyper-tough fans out there. I'm sure there are people who swear by hypertough and use it

every

day in their workshop,

what

ever you do, if you use it, if I see someone at work with hypertough enough I'm going to think a certain way about them . I'm not going to like it if you're like my respect

level

has gone down a few notches for you if you use hyperhard daily moving on to brand number two which is a DIY in Harbor Freight's single use gazebo tools category , they go into the single use DIY category if you are using gazebo tools gazebo impact drivers specifically, that's a single use tool in my opinion, that's a DIY tool in my opinion, that's not a good one brand of tools, it's not for professionals, not even for apprentices, not even for

beginner

s, it's definitely not for

expert

s, that's why it falls into that category, it's cheap, it's made in China, it's just rubbish to me.

Bower tools are garbage and that's why they fall into this category if I offended someone if I hurt your feelings I don't regret moving on to the next brand and the single use DIY category we moved on to it works I'm sure you've seen a bit, they don't spell it, it works with a k', they spell it, it works with an ex WRX, it works but it works, the tool impact driver falls into the single use DIY category. I just don't think it's a high-end tool. I think it's cheap and I like it. Once again, it is a tool that does everything but nothing great and belongs in this category.
we ranked every impact driver brand from beginner lvl to expert lvl what level are you
If you are using work tools, that tool also falls into this category. When leaving work, we have porter-cable. I'm sure you've seen porter. -cable they now sell Porter Cable at Lowe's. I think your impact drivers are fine and that's it. I don't think there is anything special. I know Porter Cable brands have been around for a long time and make some good tools, like table tools, but as far as impact drivers go, I just don't think they're on the scale of contract tool models and I think they fall into that DIY single use category and that's how I see it as the next tool brand in the DIY single use category, you've seen it at Walmart.
I'm sure it's Bostitch, it's the black and yellow, Walt knockoff, which is

what

I'm going to say and don't let that black and yellow color fool you, it's not. well ok it's a Walmart tool it's cheap it's a single use DIY tool and it falls into this category and I just don't think Bostitch fits into that high end category even Pro or learning if you use Bostitch , people know you bought. your tool from Walmart and that your tool is cheap and once again I have lost respect for using Bostitch and finally to conclude the single use DIY bar category, the famous cool brand Black & Decker is being sold. at Walmart, okay, orange and black, you know, Black & Decker, they've been around for years and years and years.
Black & Decker owns a lot of different tool brands that fall into that category of Black & Decker owned companies, but they like the Black & Decker tool. The brand itself is not high end, it is made cheaply, it comes from a factory in China and it is not. It won't resist you. It's surely single-use DIY and will be the last tool company brand to put an end to this. category are just things made cheaply and that's how I see it Black & Decker is cheap moving from the single use DIY category we moved into the beginner and apprentice category of impact drivers now these are tool brands if you're starting out an apprenticeship like let's say you're in a union, you just start as an apprentice.
I would suggest these tools. maybe you lack money. a high end model tool like I would suggest these tools. I have tried some of these tools. I know they will hold up and work pretty well, but the first brand of tools will be the ones that have three speed tools. impact driver definitely not the best but not the worst either and will hold up will do the job well definitely not one time DIY I have more respect for EOP than that I'm sure some of you have used Rio B has experience with Rio tools B some people swear by Rail B tools some people only use Rail B tools because they have had a great experience with very Oh B tools.
My experience with Rio B tools is that they hold up pretty well and do a pretty good job, they are not the fastest, they're not the strongest, but they'll get the job done and I think this Rio III rotary driver is like if you're a learner, start now and you need an affordable impact driver. Don't whine, don't snort, don't, what's the word, no, don't sneer, don't sneer Rio B or EOB definitely has something to offer, especially if you're strapped for cash. tight and you need a good impact driver, Rio will definitely be a definitely good impact driver, now this might cause a couple of discussions about this upcoming brand, but I have to say that a beginner barbell learner is where it falls into the category, is relatively mid-priced, it won't be.
Overpriced but you will eventually get some good deals but I will say this through our testing at TTR we have found that although the octane rigid is supposed to be the top of the line impact driver the gen 5x actually outperforms the rigid model. The octane is the strongest of the impact drivers from the rigid tool company and the rigid is a good impact driver if you need a quality impact driver at a good price, reliability, rigid, you can't go wrong. We've tested several rigid impact drivers and they We've all done respectably like they haven't fallen apart, we haven't been smoked some great brands have fallen apart and we've been smoked and Ridge is definitely not one of those tool brands and that's why fall into this rigid category is learner bar beginner tool category which moves on to the next brand in beginner bar learner category, it is actually a Harbor Freight tool actually a Harbor Freight tool and it is Hercules at the beginning .
I used to laugh at Hercules tools just because they are made and where they are. They are port cargo tools and are quite relatively inexpensive. These are more or less an imitation of the waltz, as in my opinion, they are blue and black, the waltz and they hold up quite well. We tried the. Hercules impact driver, the 20 volt model, works pretty well, holds well, doesn't fall apart. We have done several tests on this one, this one has been through multiple ARS TTs, we tested it, it runs well and it competes. and if you're on the job site and you're using Hercules tools and you need a tool that's relatively inexpensive, you're an apprentice, you're just starting out in the trade, definitely look at Harbor Freight Hercules tools like these, they're nothing to laugh at either.
Hercules does the work and does it for you when we move on to the video on hammer drills. I think we can also talk about the Hercules hammer drill, but for now the Hercules impact driver is definitely in that learning category and I think it's carved. its own little niche, people trust these port transportation tools and love them, and now I know why, because I tried it hands-on and I could see why people really like these Hercules tools, they work well, they don't There's nothing wrong with it and you know, try it if you've done it and I suggest you move on.
It's another brand owned by Black and Decker, Lowe's leading craftsmen. You will see it in all Lowe's, you can't miss it. We tested these v20 tools for craftsmen and they hold up. Actually pretty good, these are a little pricey and before the performance you get they fall into lesser categories, they're not, they're definitely not for professionals and they're definitely not for experts but as far as beginners go I think that is holding on. pretty good, I tried this v 20 and a couple of different TT RS's hold up pretty well. I could definitely see a trainee with this in the workplace.
There's really nothing wrong with these craft tools. These new v 20 models are brushless and have all bells. and whistles like a high end model, but yeah, not bad, the Craftsman V 20 line definitely check them out if you haven't already. I would suggest they are learning style tools, although moving on from Craftsman we have another brand at Lowe's that I would say a learning style brand is the 24 volt max cobalt tool brand. Well now these cobalt tools aren't bad at all as these impact drivers held up and our TT works great. Black and blue at Lowe's can be found.
They are relatively inexpensive. I know the batteries are some of the cheapest out there. You really won't find any tool brand with a cheaper battery than Cobalt, so I think Cobalt only gives you a battery and the combo kits because they know how. As far as you know, their batteries are affordable, get the job done, power, speed and all the bells and whistles. It's definitely on par with pro-style tool brands, but it's not quite there and for the price, I don't think they're looking to be. that's where I really see myself, I think they seem to be in the DIY learning category and that's where the cobalt falls, it falls in there, it creates its own little place and the cobalt does a good job, it will do the job if it has.
I didn't try any COBOL tools. I would suggest trying a few, maybe for your needs, like a sander or something or some type of specific tool. Try a cobalt tool below and I know you will be pleasantly surprised because every time I use cobalt tools I end up. I'm currently amazed and everyone I know who uses cobalt tools is usually surprised at how well they hold up and how well they work with 24 volts max COBOL, you can't go wrong moving on to the next brand of beginner tools and apprentices. The next brand of tools will be the skill group brand, it is the 20 volt skill line.
We took a trip to Nashville, Tennessee for the staff event this year and were able to see the skills booth and their entire line of 20 volt tools and 12 volt tools are a huge range and are surprisingly well made and well built and They hold up very well now. I definitely think they fall into the category of beginner learning tools because they are relatively inexpensive and not the most expensive. tools on the market, but they are not the best, but they are not the worst, they are middle of the road and I could definitely see an apprentice using these tools with skill, 20 volt tools or 12 volt tools. and especially their impact driver, we tested it, TAFTA seems to work quite well and seems quite powerful and looked like it was going to do the job well which will conclude the beginner learning tools category that we turn to next. the professional class of tools the professional category if you are using this brand of tools, you can consider yourself a professional first is the milwaukee tool corporation.
Now making this list was a little confusing as to where Milwaukee falls because Milwaukee makes a couple different tools that fall into different categories, but I'm going to group the Milwaukee tool in the pro category because if you use tools fromMilwaukee, is a professional style tool, especially their line of fuel tools, from which you can get more power and performance. connect a different battery to the fuel line tools, if you use a higher performance battery than what they make you will get more power and performance from those tools and I have used Milwaukee tools. I'm not the biggest fan of Milwaukee tools, obviously, Vince.
He loves walkie tools, uses Milwaukee tools every day and trusts them. I could see why they are really good tools. I've used a couple of them, especially this impact driver. This will be the supercharge fuel model. It's very quiet. It is a hydraulic impact. driver and works great it will get the job done we had a couple of issues with the Milwaukee impact drivers although they do have some issues but overall these are great tools and will get the job done if you use the Milwaukee tools consider you a Professional, welcome to the professional model of tools and you are definitely in that professional class.
You could say that now Milwaukee does make brush tools. I would still consider them higher end than other tool models from different brands, like a Milwaukee brush tool which will be a cheaper brushless tool if that makes any sense. I would still prefer Milwaukee over most of the cheaper tool brains. even if it is planed I would still go buy it, go with the Milwaukee tool, the next tool brand in the professional category is Black & Decker. Stanley Black & Decker is the DeWalt tool and falls into that professional category, which I have in front of me. From me it is the DeWalt e CF 887, this 887 is burning above us, it is actually going up in smoke.
I would suggest not using this three-speed impact driver even though this is their high-end model from DeWalt, but I'll go. with the 787 or 885, as far as a wall impact driver goes, it definitely falls into the professional category, where it fits in performance and price, and if you use black and yellow tools, you can consider yourself a professional, the wall is my personal favorite variant, black and yellow, let me know who makes your favorite brand, but the wall tools are what I use and that's what I like and I will consider them and if you are using all the tools you can definitely consider yourself in the professional category. of tools, but not in the expert, the expert requires a little more.
I would say the next quality tool company in the professional category is Bosch's line of 18-volt core tools. What I have in front of me here is this is the Freak, it's actually a two in one, this is a wrench and an impact driver. Now it works quite well. I'm sure if you had a standalone Bosch impact driver it would work fine, but as far as a wrench and impact driver goes, this works surprisingly well. and it works very well, Bosch is definitely in that professional model of tools, that professional line of tools. I think as far as price, reliability and performance, there were a couple of different factors that I took into account in the price and performance of the warranty and all of these categories, and I think like Bosch hit all the marks to be in the Pro category, let me know what you think of the Bosch tools.
Bosch makes other good tools. since their jigsaws are good, they are routers, they are also pretty good routers and you could find them. at Lowe's they are also relatively inexpensive, we found tool deals here, we found some of the best tool deals here, if you sign up at Bell you can participate in these tool deals, one of the best tool deals we've found is the wall . XR Batteries at 50% off, you won't find them anywhere else on YouTube or the internet. Be sure to subscribe and ring the bell. We bring tool deals all the time. miss it, move on to the next tool brand in the professional category it is makita tool brand this is the makita x dt 16 impact driver this impact driver is excellent it works great it glows in the dark in case don't know If you want us to make a video on how it glows in the dark, let me know in the comments section below, maybe you didn't know, but Makita is in terms of price and performance, Makita is definitely in the Pro category. and I liked that if you don't agree, you're wrong, as if Makita wasn't high-end.
Makita is right in the middle and they are great tools. Makita makes a lot of interesting tools specific to drywall. Make sure you subscribe and ring the bell to See more Makita, but we make them all the time. We have tested this Makita impact driver and multiple TT-RS. It works very well. One of my favorite features about this Makita impact driver specifically is that the collet they put on this impact driver is one of the most likely to not come loose even a bit, it will hold on, they put three ball bearings in its collar and has one of the best retention on the market when it comes to impact drivers, we need something that works and you need to get the job done Makita will be there to help you we will do the work for you if you are using Makita tools you are definitely a pro you're in that pro model that pro category I know Makita is really big during the season like you In Australia a lot of those guys swear by Makita tools and I could see why the key tools are really good and hold up really well.
The xdt 16 is really good. This one, in fact, we have one that was made in Japan and they recently changed it. I think that diminished the value of Makita tools, but when they were made in Japan, they are great quality and if you can find a Makita tool made in Japan, stick with it because we don't make them in Japan anymore and I think they are quality tools. good quality. Those made in Japan. These top Chinese ones are still good quality, just not as good in Japan, but Makita is definitely a professional quality tool. If you don't agree, please let me know.
Know what you think about Makita in the comments section below and where your favorite tool brand is in this category, moving on to the next tool brand in the professional category, this tool brand has caused a lot of confusion recently with their change of name, very confusing to a lot of people, actually this is the Metabo HPT brand, formerly known as Hitachi and Lowe's. They've probably seen Itachi before. Here it is no longer called Hitachi. It's in Europe. In fact, I know it's called High Cokie in Europe now. For some reason, they took a poll and that name seemed to stick in Europe hello Koki, pronounce it sounds weird very weird hello Koki Aiko key and then you bow you say hello Koki and you bow Yo Koki hello cookie the HP T in case you are asking means Hitachi Power Tools, that's why that's the way you can find out Metabo HP t, but this is the Metabo HP t triple hammer, it's like one of the only impact drivers I rated for peeing, so apparently There are people who have used it underwater. like I never heard the end oh you can use your who will use their impact driver underwater.
I could see if you're out in the rain and you need to use it in the rain, okay, no one's going to use it underwater, okay, this impact driver. The triple hammer is very strong. It works with multi-volt batteries. They range from 18 to 36. This is a professional grade tool. It will have a medium price. It will be more expensive than lower quality tools. I think it's worth. It has a brush. all the conveniences with Tabo hbt tools definitely professional style tools if you are using Metabo HPT or Itachi you are in the professional category now at the moment you have been waiting for the expert category if you are using any of these brands you can consider yourself an expert probably You work with your pinky out, right?
I'm sure yes you're an expert you're a classy man okay you probably know what I mean you probably won't get a speck of dust on you probably ever Nick nothing his work is probably perfect it's immaculate there's probably no noise no dust everything is clean, pristine and beautiful in your workshop you are an expert if you are using any of these brands and the price and performance will tell you why The first complete brand in the expert category is the Hilty tool brand, the Holte impact driver, and a One of the reasons I put Hilty in this category was not only the price and performance, but also the Hill T warranty.
Hill T has one of the best warranties in the world. game, they have a 20 year warranty, no one comes close to that with five years and three years for some brands. Hill T is 20 years old, that's ridiculous. Okay, with a warranty like that, you could break a tool every week and Hill T would replace it, but you're going to pay for Hill T, you're going to pay a lot. Typically Hill T is one of those high end brands but you get what you pay for in this category and that's why experts pay more for Hill T. they are paying for that warranty they are paying for performance they are paying for outperform to other Hilti tools, you've probably seen their trucks driving around.
I'm sure Hilti is one of those tools that falls into the expert category because it's well known. to be Hilty, ask anyone who uses healthy products, they swear by Hill T. I'm sure you're Hill T. The person watching this probably likes Hill T. You probably swear by Hill T and if you're using Hill T, you're an expert. get into the expert category, have fun, laugh, cheers, have fun with all the people and with the people in the professional category, we are not there yet, we are not in the expert category, but if you are using Hill T, you are in the expert category.
Dewalt Milwaukee is what's happening from Hill T. We have another company that falls into this category of experts. Festool, yes, you almost have to stick out your little finger when you say Festool. The Festool brand falls into the expert category. Some like the quality. Festival tools are almost incomparable, they are some of the best quality tools on the market. I've used a couple of Festool tools. I have my hands on a couple of Festool tools and I can tell you that they are really nice. I can feel the quality, like when people tell you that Festool doesn't lie, there is a reason why Festool is the price it is because you are buying quality, you are really buying the name and Festool definitely falls into this expert category if you are not agree with Let me know in the comments section below, but I definitely feel like Festool is marketed to woodworkers almost like in a different category, it's not even like it's for fancy woodworkers, you know, I don't even know how to describe it, it's in a different category is in a category of its own really now there is going to be a lot of dispute for this last final category the expert quality tools the expert tool brands and I want to hear your list at the end.
I tried to search and find. all the tool brands I could and a lot of them didn't come to mind, there were only three in the expert category and we have Hilty, we have Festool and there is one more that just made it, they were right at the top, but I think Yes you're using their tools and you see the quality and how they're built and how they're made, they really hold up and will stand the test of time. They are made in Germany. Can you guess who it is yet? If you haven't got it, it is Metabo tool brand, this is Metabo impact driver, don't be confused, it's okay, this is not the same Metabo as Metabo HPT hitachi power tools, these are two different Mateo, this one It is German-made Metabo.
I was able to see how these tools are made, manufactured and designed in Germany and their plant in Germany and they are really amazing, they are high end tools, very good quality, but you will pay a premium for that type of quality, so these are some of the most expensive tools, each of these brands Hilty Festool and Metabo German Metabo are some of the most expensive tools and that's why because of their quality, they will last and be there. because I don't know, they're there for experts, they're for fancy people, okay, one of the best things about Metabo is their battery platform.
Metabo makes HD lithium batteries and is designing a battery that will power a lot. of different tools there is a thing in Europe called wireless alliance system and what it is is I don't know why they aren't doing this in the US I think it's been a long time I know why they aren't doing it they want to charge more money to people want to make more money I don't blame them, you know why not make more money if you can do it right, but the Europeans are doing the smart thing: they are creating a battery platform to power a bunch of different power tools, so if you want use them as a sander and then connect it to a vacuum cleaner, you don't needhave two different battery platforms.
You can use the same battery pad to connect your sander to your vacuum cleaner. a video about wireless alliance system, if you don't know wireless alliance system, I will link it here, go watch it. Metabo is leading the way in a single battery used for multiple different brands of power tools, really cool. a lot of different European brands will use Metabo batteries and to me that's really cool, you know it'll probably save people a lot of money and I'd like to see something like that implemented here in the US, but the Europeans are doing well. I think they just want to charge people more here.
No, let me know in the comments section below what you think, but Metabo in Germany is definitely expert tools. I think those three tool brands will be part of the expert category if you win. I don't know of any brand of tools that I left out that you think should be in one of these categories, as far as impact drivers go. I may be steering away from impact drivers, but as far as impact drivers go, let me know what brand you think. I'm happy with my list, if you don't like my list, let me know why in the comments section below, let me know your list, where are your single-use DIY professional apprentice and expert categories?
