This project is a

wood

en wagon decoration piece. Now we'll start with three boxes from the Dollar Tree. We will also use a wooden stake. I bought this for a

dollar

at Dollar General now, if you can't find a wooden stake you can also use some dowels from Walmart or Dollar Tree or you'll need at least six rotating tower blocks as a substitute, okay so let's go. To go ahead and start those boxes, I'm going to use three boxes for my wagon now. If you want a larger wagon, you can definitely add four boxes in this configuration if you want, but I'll stick with the three.

More Interesting Facts About,

For today, I'm going to join them together with my hot wood glue and my wood glue combination, so I'm just going to turn them right side down and then add a little bit of wood between each one. one of the boxes first add the hot glue and then add the wood glue between them and pressing them firmly together, then I'll add the last one the same way and you want to make sure they're nice and even now. We know that Dollar Tree boxes can be uneven sometimes, so make sure they're level, so I'm going to add some of those little Dollar Tree clips in there just to make sure they stay together as we work now, as you

look

at the sides of the cart now has the open handle portions of that box, so we'll cover them with these craft sticks.

Now I bought these craft sticks at Home Depot for a buck 49, but you can also use any craft stick that they sell at the Dollar Tree for this too, so I'm going to cut each end of that craft stick straight across and you just want To make sure it

look

s like a board, you want to add a little bit of hot glue to the side and start placing them. and when placing them along the sides, you now want to make sure to stagger any seams you have. This gives it a more natural, cleaner look now that it's the last few pieces, too long to cut, which I like to do.

It's just taking my pencil and dragging it under the bottom edge along the end of the box and that will ensure that you have the perfect cutting line and if you use a nice sturdy pair of scissors these should cut very easily so just add glue. and then you're going to add that final piece at the top up, so now we have that first row at the top, all good and still we're going to continue adding rows on both sides and you should end up with three rows now. We're going to add that second row and as you can see we staggered that seam with two more pieces and then we'll add that third row at the bottom, so here are the three rows on one side of my box cart. and we're going to repeat this on the other side, the foreign side, all nice and full, and the other side is nice and full, so everything is covered and ready now, as you can notice, there's a little loop at the bottom and Let's Cut It Out.
First I'm going to go ahead and remove these stickers from the bottom, but we're going to go ahead and cut out that little ledge at the bottom, so I'm just going to grab my cutting mat and my utility. sheet and I'm just going to drag it along that bottom edge a few times and those pieces should snap right off and now you'll have a smooth, even edge all the way around, so by now your boxes should be pretty stuck together. I can remove those clippies and we're going to start working on our wheel suspension, so this is where I'm going to use that Dollar General plant fillet here and I'm just going to cut it to the width of the box as shown. here and I want to cut two pieces, so here are the two pieces that I went out and cut so I could have one in the front and one in the back to hold the wheels on the bottom of the tray of my little wagon now, if not You don't have the pegs or the fillets if you just chain together three rotating tower blocks for each side which should work too or you can use the pegs so once you have all the pieces cut what you want to do is drill a pilot hole down . the side and this will allow the screws to screw into those wheels when you get to that point, so I'm going to go in about a half inch to three quarters of an inch with my drill to make sure I have a There's a little hole to line up my screw when I add my wheels and you want to make sure you do this for both pieces, so now that that's done, what we're going to do is add them to the bottom of our boxes, so I'm just going to add a line of wood glue and add a little bit of that hot wood glue there and I'm going to center each of these on the first and last box in the center.
You want to make sure the ends are lined up with the edge of the tray as shown here so everything looks nice and even in the end, so now that your wagon is assembled, I'm protecting my work surface and I'm going to stain this with my Jacobian tint. My favorite dye and I'm going to add it to the box. Now I like to start staining on the inside first. It has the most intricate cracks and crevices. I like to make my way now. I use a small piece of towel to dye. Now you can use a sponge brush or you can use a paintbrush to get into all those nooks and crannies if you have to, but here's the whole stained inside and we want to paint the outside too, so here's the whole box. uh, assemble everything Stained inside and out and it's very important.
I like to follow up with a paper towel to wipe off any excess, this speeds up the drying process and in my opinion it also ends up looking better and now I'm going to sit it out to dry for about an hour so here's my pretty set , everything very dry and ready to go, so for the wheels we are going to use a couple of these toy motorcycles from the toy section of Dollar Tree, so these are easy to take apart, we are just going to separate them and, as you can see the wheels just come off you just have to move that assembly back and forth and it comes out and you can remove that wheel now that we're.
We're going to do this for both of our motorcycles, then we're going to set them aside and to attach them we're going to use some screws, so I decided to use some number six three-quarter inch wood screws. You could use nails if you want. I'm just using what I have on hand so what I like to do is add my bolt to the wheel first and screw it all the way in first then I like to add it to the pilot hole and then screw it all the way in now you don't want it too tight you want it with just a little bit of flexibility there, but it's going to do this across the entire box and as you can see here, here they are all for wheels and as you see, you want them to be able to turn slightly so that they're not too tight and here are the four wheels assembled on our little wagon piece, super easy, miss those screw heads.
I'm just taking some black acrylic paint. and I'm rubbing it on each of the screws now I'm doing this in two layers letting them dry between the layers now once this is done we're going to add our rope now I decided to use the Dollar Tree nautical style robe here so I'm going to tie a knot very big at the end and I'm going to make it very strong and I'm going to cut a piece that's probably about four or five inches. You can cut it as long as you want, but I found that four or five inches was about right for this project, so to adhere it, all I'm going to do is add a little bit of hot glue to the bottom of the car, just add a generous amount there and then If you want to put the end of the rope directly into that glue and then to add a little bit of security you can put a couple of staples through the rope into the bottom of your wagon piece and this is now nice and safe, as you can see.
It has a small rope to pull on Your Wagon and is ready to go and ready to decorate. Now I'm just going to trim that rope at the end real quick and seal it with a little bit of hot glue, this just makes sure that's the case. t Fray, so when you are ready to decorate, just take whatever ornaments you want, you can add beads, you can add tea light candles, candle holders, all kinds of flowers and greenery, it's all up to you, have fun with it abroad. exhibition and I have to say that I am very excited about how this turned out now for this exhibition.
I grabbed some sweater pumpkins from the Dollar Tree and added them to three bunches of greenery from Ikea and the little motorcycle wheels worked perfectly for this. cart and put together this sweet autumn look. Now I love the pieces with so much flexibility to decorate them in various ways and just removing the little pumpkins will make it a really super sweet neutral decor piece. Now another way to decorate this is to add a variety of bright autumn mums to the wagon. I think these colors look amazing with the wood stain on the wagon and the beading is a super cute accent.
I really love this combination. Now for this version I added some eucalyptus, some pumpkins and some berries. stones I think this is actually very refreshing and like the other versions you can change it up and enjoy this piece all year round. I really hope you try this really easy project now this project is a wooden tray holder centerpiece that we are We're going to need one of these wooden trays from the Dollar Tree. We're also going to need some rotating tower blocks from the Dollar Tree. Now let's get started on our rotating tower blocks today. Go ahead and grab a carpenter's square and this.
It is also available at Dollar Tree. Now we are going to start by joining four blocks in a row as shown here. I highly recommend using wood glue. You can use wood glue from Dollar Tree or any type of wood. You can find the glue at your hardware

store

and this is the best adhesive to use now on today's project for my quick job. I'm using my hot wood glue now, this is just for quick adhesion but it's not the strongest hold, use wig glue. Trust me, so we're going to go ahead and put them together real quick and we'll put them together end to end.
Now you want to make sure you clean up any stray hot glue from the seams and once you get your four go ahead and make four of these so the next set is two blocks that are joined end to end. We're going to put these two blocks together and we're also going to make a total of four of these. so now that we have our pieces we can make our position, so go ahead and lay them on their sides, don't leave them flat, lay them on their sides and start putting them together by taking one of the two pieces of the block and putting them together.
Place them like an L in the corner, then turn it over and attach another piece of two blocks to the other corner. Now, once they're attached, grab that last piece of four blocks at the bottom, add a little glue, and then press and hold until it stays in place. together too now this is one of the pieces that you will need and this is a rectangle we are going to go ahead and we are going to make another one of these but we are only going to put three of the sides together For this, now, once all three sides are glued together, we'll pass that rectangle as a chain link and then close it.
This is very important for this project to work, so make sure you feed it like a chain link throughout the process. now once they are dry we can form our eggs and now you can see why we fed them the way we did. Now we're going to sew them together at the center seam, but we're going to use that tray as a guide to make sure the opening part of our X fits into the bottom of the tray. Now once we decide how wide we want our X add a little bit of that hot glue on that seam and fasten. and adjust it and you can use one of the Dollar Tree clips to help you.
Go ahead and we'll add that hot glue on the other side as well and just press, hold and adjust until it's

solid

. Well, again, make sure to use your tray as a guide to make sure you keep everything in good shape and even now, once your ax is nice and dry, this is what it looks like and we're going to go ahead and paint it. Now I'm going to use black acrylic paint to paint it today and we're just going to need one good coat. This paint is very thick, so I don't really have any problems with having to keep layering it, so you just want to go ahead and apply it to all the surfaces of those eggs.
Raw wood will not be shown in this project. Now here's the X, all nice and covered all over the place, so go ahead and sit down. the side to dry completelynow while that dries, we're going to go ahead and protect our work surface and we're going to work on our tray, so we're going to use some Waverly antique wax for this now I'm going to To go ahead and grab a small cup of water and a cup empty, now what I'm going to do is add a little bit of my old wax to one of those empty cups and then add about a third of the amount of water compared to the wax and then mix it up.
I'm just trying to thin out the wax a little bit and stretch the project product so you have more to work with and it will be a lot easier for your project, so now you can get started. applying it to your tray and I'm just going to use a brush for this and it's a nice smooth application that starts on the inside first and then works my way to the outside so here's my tray, very nice and stained and don't forget to continue using a paper towel just to wipe off all that excess, it gives a nice smooth finish and allows your project to dry plenty. faster, so once that's done, when you let them dry, here are your two pieces, so my initial thought with this was to attach the X frame to the bottom of the tray.
Now if you want to do this you can go ahead and add your glue the two ends of the shown or you can leave them. Separate all you have to do is place your tray on top of that X and now it's there and then you can remove it however you want in case you want to give it a different style. Here is my wooden tray design on display and how adorable it is. this piece i have always loved the richwood color scheme in black and it really looks great on this piece and then when you add some succulents for a touch of natural beauty it completes everything.
I love the way this piece is designed now, you can do even more with this, even remove the top tray and once you do, you will have a standalone piece, so many options to try with this project today, so now let's jump right in to the project, here is my inspiration photo for this. Today's project now I really love the design and when I showed it to a friend they said it would be perfect for their new home with a few tweaks of course so I headed to the drawing board and came up with my own unique version for less than ten

dollar

s and I hope you guys like it too so let's get started so I headed to Home Depot and I went to Pine Fernwood and I bought one for two, one for four and two packs of these paint sticks now. what we are going to need is that on the 1 by 4 we need to cut a piece that is 30 inches long and on the 1x2 we are going to cut two pieces and these will also be 30 inches long now that we are We are going to cut two smaller pieces of that same one by two and they will be five inches long and then we will take both packages of those paint sticks and we will cut them down the center making sure We have a length of six inches on the side that doesn't have the handle, so these will be six inches long .
Now we're going to start with those two at a time and we're going to go ahead and use those long pieces and Those short pieces, what we're going to do is sandwich that short piece between those two long 30 inch pieces, as shown here. These meetings are very easy. You can use a little standard wood glue, if you want you can use the Dollar Tree version. or some from the home improvement

store

or you can use hot wood glue. Now I'm going to use hot wood glue because it has a quick bond and we'll continue this project with screws for a very strong hold.
What I'm going to do is add a generous amount of that hot wood glue in there and I'm going to attach it right on the corner of one of those pieces, you just want to make sure that the corner is really level. once it's adhered in about 10 seconds you want to add a little more hot glue to the other end and attach the other piece. This will now form one side of the side frame of the shutter and you will then need to let it dry completely for about 30 seconds. and then we're going to change this to the other side and we're going to repeat this process sandwiching that little piece between the two longer pieces and now we can do both sides of this at the same time.
You're just going to make sure everything is nice and aligned. If you want to tighten it, make sure you clean up any hot glue or anything oozing out of that seam and once everything dries, you'll have this frame ready to use as part of your shutter. For the Shelf project, now we're going to flip it over where the good side is facing down, go ahead and grab those cut up paint stir sticks that you have. These are cut again to six inches and there should be 20 sticks since I used two packages of these, so what I'm going to do with the 20 pieces of paint mixing sticks we're going to place them along the opening of the small panel of the shutter.
Now we cut them an inch larger than the opening, so this is there. There should be a half inch overlap on each side and we will place them where they are all evenly spaced as shown here. Now I'll use my hot wood glue to adhere them, of course you could use those. your wig glue if you have it on hand and all we're going to do is take the first one and we're just going to put a line of glue near the bottom edge and then the top edge now. This first piece will set the priority for the rest of the stick, so you want to make sure it's placed absolutely evenly and then we're going to do the same thing with the rest by simply adding glue on top. and the bottom, making sure to keep that space equal between the pieces and this will result in a more uniform and professional appearance.
Now, once you've done that for all your pieces, here they are all joined together. I'm just turning it around. To do a quick quality check and everything looks great, now we're going to turn it over and we're going to do some reinforcement, so I take my staple gun and just add. a staple at the bottom and top of each of those wooden sticks. Now it's not necessary to do this, but I really put a lot of effort into making sure everything is as secure in my projects. I'm using a 3 8 inch staple to This I'm just going to go around those paint bars as shown here just adding a staple that way this piece is definitely going to be nice and secure and very professional so now what we're going to do is take that 1 by 4 piece that is 30 inches now, if you plan on painting the entire piece one color, staying on one color or painting one color at this point, this is where you would attach that piece, either to the top of the shutter as shown here or on the top front edge of the shutter.
Now for my project I wanted to do two different finishes so I'm not going to enjoy putting them together now so I'm going to paint the shutter part of my project white and stain the shelf. part and I'm going to use my Jacobian stain and then wax for this, so I'm going to go ahead and stain that piece and get it out of the way so it has time to dry and all I'm going to do is I'm going to take that stain and I am going to apply on all surfaces of this wood. Now when I start applying this, I'm going to make sure to cover the top, bottom, and sides. and even the final pieces because they are all going to be exposed in the final project now I like to just apply it with a little piece of towel that I cut off, you just have to be careful when throwing them away, you never want to do that. throw them away or stack them while they're wet, let them air dry completely before throwing them away for safety, so here I am, just scrubbing those corners and edges making sure all those cracks and crevices are nice and stained now.
Of course, when all sides are stained you should definitely follow up with a paper towel, this removes all the excess stain so there is no pooling or unevenness left in the wood and also speeds up the drying process if you don't have any additional stain . sitting on the surface of the wood, so now that it's nice and dry, let's grab the shutter piece. I was supposed to go ahead and screw it in at this point, but I got so excited I jumped right into painting. but don't worry, we'll screw it in a little later so you can use acrylic paint or chalk paint for whatever you want to do.
I decided to use some chalk paint for this project. Now the chalk paint I'm using is popular. art chalk paint I usually buy this at Joanne's when they have a 50 or 60 off coupon so this is definitely a time where I tend to stock up on this now when I apply it I'm just going to apply a good coat it's very thick and so I just need a good coat starting with the frame first. I like to have all the edges of the frame facing outward and then once I have that frame I can go ahead and start making the little slits on the inside now when you paint.
You should also make sure to place these slats between them because they will be exposed in the project. You just want to make sure you apply nice, even coats all around and this is the final result after painting all your slats. surfaces now, once it has a chance to dry, here it is and now what we're going to do is add some distressing paint. Now what I have here is some brown nutmeg and I'm adding little bits of black to make a chocolate covered brown and I'm going to use my craft stick method to make my distressing if you've been following me you've seen me do this Before, it is very easy and fun.
To make, I just take a little bit of that paint and drag the edge of the stick along the edges of the piece I want to distress. I think this applies the perfect amount of angst, not too much, not too little, and whatever you want. To do this throughout the frame, now there is no Rhyme or Reason as to how much you need to do or how hard you need to press, just let it flow as you go now, once you make the frame you want too. Wear a pair of those ribbons too, as they can be worn out and in our inspiration piece they showed some distress.
Now I'm not doing as much angst on my guts as I am on my inspiration piece, but I'm doing enough that it will make the perfect gift, so now that everything is nice and dry, I'm going to go ahead and screw those corners together like I did before that I should have painted, so we'll go ahead and do this, no problem. We're just going to cover those screws with paint, so it doesn't really matter if you wait or do it beforehand, so we're going to take our screws and the screws that I want to use for my corner, so I'm going to use a number six wood screw of two inches for this project.
Now I'm going to start drilling some pilot holes. This is very important. You always want to drill a pilot hole where you want your shoes to be to prevent them from splitting. wood, so what I'm doing is I'm drilling all the way through the corner to the adjoining piece of wood as shown here and I'm going to do this on all four corners now if you have a pocket hole tool or a nailer, you can definitely use it, but this is easy if you don't have any of those special tools and you have your basic drill, you can make this happen, so once those pilot holes are drilled.
I'm going to drill the screw into the pilot hole until it's nice and flush with the surface as shown here and I'm going to do this for all four corners. All four corners are secured with those screws, so now You can continue with your chalk paint and I'm just going to dab the surface of the little screws so you don't see them and once you do that, here they are, you'll just barely be able to see they are there. so they're nice and covered so now that our wood board is nice and dry, this is our 1x4, we're going to determine if we want to place it on top of the shutter as shown here or if we really want to set it up. on the top edge of the shutter, now what I decided to do for this project is place it on top of the shutter on the same edge, not only does it look better to me, but it also gives you that extra three quarters of an inch of shelf. space at the top that you won't really see so now what I'm doing is I'm running a bead of hot wood glue along one of the edges of my 1x4 of course you can also use wood glue and I.
I'm going to press this on the top edge of my shutter like I demonstrated before and you just want to press it and hold it for probably about 30 seconds or so because there's a lot of glue, we want to make sure it's nice and adhered to that. top edge as we work, so this will temporarily adhere and here's the top edge, all nice and secure overseas. I'm just going to grab a couple big containers of paint just to elevate my little shelf a little bit so the edge is raised. and what I'm going to do is use this to help me drill the holes in the back of my bookcase through the actual shelves.
I'm drilling the shutter on the shelf so I'm going to start herein the center and I'm going to make my first pilot hole. Now I'm just looking at how far down I need to go. We know that the width of our shelves is about three-quarters of an inch, so we just want to make sure that when we drill there that we don't go any further than those three-quarters that way, the pilot hole will go right through to the other piece of wood, like this that I will start in the middle and then continue. to go about two inches from the edge and drill another pilot hole and then I'm going to drill another hole between that center and that edge and now we're going to repeat it adding the other two holes at the other end of the shutter as well for a total of five holes , so now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and grab those same screws, number six and two inch wood screws, and this would be enough to not only hold that shelf in place but also to tie everything together where there isn't any. no kind of curvature or anything like that and it should be nice and secure, so now I'm just going to add all those screws into those pilot holes along that edge and here are all the screws. in place, everything nice and secure, so now what we're going to do is add our hanging hardware to our shelf.
Now my favorite hanging accessories are these D-rings. I love them because they have a great weight capacity and come with a few screws included. I buy them on Amazon. I'll link them in the description box below, but I'm going to take two of them and place one on one of the top corners of the back of the frame, now making sure you don't put it over any of the screws. I'm just going to add a little bit of hot glue to the back. I like to do this to add my hardware, especially when I have to hold something in place, this actually just holds it. temporarily in place so while you screw things in it doesn't move and will stay in place so in no way are you trying to secure it permanently it's just to keep it in place while I apply the screws so once I have it Put the D-ring in place.
I'm just going to take my screwdriver and screw it in. You can use a screwdriver or you can even use your drill, so there's one already made and we're just going to repeat. is on the other side so now that my two hooks are in place we can start working on the front and that is adding the hooks to the front of the project so the hooks that I initially decided to use are these little black hooks here now. I love these hooks. They come in a really big package from Amazon. It's a great deal and I think you get 50 in a pack and it's very affordable, so with hooks this size I decided to use five of them, one in the center and two on each. of the ends and I'm separating them evenly now, when you separate them and want to screw them, you can also glue them, but then I decided to change.
I changed my mind because I realized I had some farmhouse hooks that I've been holding on to Forever because I got a really

cheap

deal on Amazon so I decided these would be perfect for this show so these are really pretty farmhouse style hooks , look these. They are beautiful, they are very economical. I got them. in a pack of 14 and they're less than a dollar a piece so it's actually a pretty good deal so since they are larger hoods I decided to use four of these hooks instead of the five smaller ones and I'm just going to space them out evenly along the bottom edge of my outside shelf shutter piece, so once I have all of that space identified I can now go ahead and start securing it to the shutter part of the shelf and again I'm going to add just a little bit of hot glue on the back just to hold it in place before applying the four screws to secure them now.
I love this method of trying to temper the alert temporarily, secure these because it prevents them from moving and stuff. This way you don't end up with uneven pieces, so I'll use the screws that come with them. It comes with four screws per hook and they are easy to screw on. I'm going to use my drill, they go inside. Very easy, you don't even need pilot holes and now that I have all four in this is what they look like, aren't they beautiful? I love how these hooks look here. I'm so glad I decided to use them. these in place and now all you have to do is hang and decorate your beautiful piece and here is my personalized version of this shelf and I love it now that this top shelf has plenty of space for your little decor pieces and all your trinkets. for display and those hooks are so fun you could hang hand towels, beads and so much more now the stain made this inexpensive wood cutout look amazing and who knew paint stir sticks would make the perfect flat shutter design now this one piece will definitely make the perfect gift and this is a very easy project to start now this project is a tiered wooden box decor piece we are going to need three of these wooden boxes from the Dollar Tree and also some of these falling tower blocks from the Dollar Tree now we're going to start with the falling Tara blocks and we're going to join sets that are going to stack, so we're going to stack two blocks here and we're going to make sure we're going to join them together and I'm going to use my hot wood glue, but As I mentioned before, definitely use wood glue whenever possible to make the project stronger.
Now here I say that you will need two of these two sets of blocks. I want you to go ahead and do four of these. I found out later in the project. I'll need two more of these, so go ahead and make four of these two sets of blocks. Now, the next set of blocks that we're going to attach, um, that we're going to also stack and this time we're going to attach them where we have four stacked blocks and for these we're going to need two of these four sets of blocks and once they're all attached here, they will be ready to go outside.
The blocks that we are going to need we are going to go ahead and place eight of our blocks now again, these will also be stacked and they will be double thickness because they will be legs in our project, so once we place those eight blocks stacked twice, then we will join them together also and we are going to make two sets of these eight blocks. Now here, they're all good, adhered and ready to go, so now We're going to take all of our adhered blocks and paint them again. We'll use a little bit of this black acrylic paint to paint them, just make sure you apply a generous coat to as many blocks as you can.
Choose to paint the bottom and top if you want, but you just want to make sure all of your blocks are covered on their outside surfaces. Here they are ready to go, just let them dry completely now while they dry, come on. To go ahead and grab those three boxes now again, we're going to use that old Waverly wax to dye them. Now you can use any stain or paint you want. I'm going to go ahead and add a little more of that wax. My little cup here and I'm also going to add a little more of that water to the cup.
Now I'm just going to dilute it a little bit and it will stretch your product. We know that getting these products often can be quite expensive, so stretching them helps and also allows me to use my brush now, when you mix it, you want to mix it really well and then apply it to start applying it to the inside of each of your boxes now once you've covered the inside really well, go ahead and do this for the outside, now here's my box, all the stains, continue with that paper towel to remove all the excess stain.
Now we are going to repeat this process for the other two. boxes now here are the three boxes all nice and stained cleaned and ready to go and now just let them dry completely so now we are getting ready to build our decorative tiered wooden box piece so I am laying out my mat grid as a guide and I highly recommend that you use it because it helps everything even at the end so I'm going to take all my painted pieces and then I'm going to start with the bottom box here so what I'm going to do is add the two longest pieces of those tower blocks that fall to the inside edges on the outside of the box, as you can see, I'm going to add them to the outside side, but I'm going to put them on the inside edges, so that's going to be the outside support of our stand, so let's place this against the other box on top and then we'll attach it to the top box, so add a generous amount of that glue in there and then press that top box. right in the corners to make sure those pieces line up.
Now the middle piece will have the two legs that are four blocks each, so you just want to add one of those to each outside edge of that center box. Now I'm going to turn around. It's over and I make sure that everything will be fine and even now, to do this, go ahead and take a ruler. I found that this helps place the bottom of that box on the ruler and the bottom of the legs on the other. side to make sure everything lines up nicely and sits properly, so now what we're going to do is take the two shorter pieces (these are the two sets of blocks) and add them to the other side of the box that you added your four sets of blocks and we're going to add them, this end of the box will go slightly inside the first box as shown, as I've shown here, so to make sure it stays in place, add a little bit of glue to the bottom of those short legs, glue the ones inside the bottom box and adhere them making sure the legs on one end match the bottom of the box on the other end so your item will lay even, so this is where I determined that I needed two more sets of blocks.
For that other space I have there, this is something I completely missed at first and that's why I told you to make two more blocks, so here I'm just going to add a little bit of glue to the top and the side and then I'm going to glue them and attach them to the bottom of that box and the inside of the box below and this way you'll have the support that they need and they'll be equally spaced so once it dries. all of your pieces are now stuck together and this is what your

solid

piece will look like so now what I'm going to do is continue with some of these craft sticks now that I already had a bunch of these stained craft sticks in my stash . and I'm just gluing segments of them over the holes in the box.
Now this is totally optional, but I think it gives it a finished look if you cover those holes and that's what I did with my project and here it is. Guys, I love how amazing this piece turned out now, since you all probably know that I'm a little obsessed with Dollar Tree succulents, but you embellished this piece so wonderfully that now you can choose to paint or stain any color and you can make it your own and have fun with it. Everyone should let me know what they think of this project in the comments below. Now for this project you will need a piece of 1 by 2 wood and these come. eight feet long from Home Depot and Lowe's for about a dollar ninety-eight we'll need four paint stir sticks from this tin pack you can get at Home Depot we'll need three drawers from Dollar Tree We'll need some peel and stick hooks from the Dollar Tree .
We're going to use some of this chicken wire from the Dollar Tree. We're also going to need two of these gift boxes from the Dollar Tree. Now these are from the fall, but We have these in a birthday and in many holiday designs throughout the year and we are going to need rotating tower blocks. Now we are going to start cutting our wood and we are going to need two pieces cut to 20 inches. We'll need three pieces cut to 18 inches and we're going to cut four of those paint stirring rods to nine inches. Now I'm going to go ahead and protect my work surface because I'm going to stain my wood pieces and today I'm going to pick up all my wood and today I'm going to use an early American stain.
You know I love my Jacobian, he's hanging out there, but now we're going to use an early American dye for a lighter color finish. When I stain all my pieces, I will simply sand the entire piece starting with the 20 inch pieces. I want to stain the front and back sides and the ends by applying a nice even coat of that stain all over, so here's a piece. completely dyed and complete this for your other 20 inch piece and now I'm going to start with the 18 inch pieces and we're going to dye them the same way, but we're not going to dye the ends and then we can move on. to our paint stir sticks now for this you will only need to stain the side without the numbers and we are going to stain the ends and the sides as well now once everything is nice and stained what I like to do is follow up with a paper towel to remove all the excess stain and this helps the pieces dry a little bit quicker, so we're going to set them aside and then we're going to go ahead and grab our wooden boxes from the Dollar.
Tree and I'm just going to remove the inserts from the wooden box and then I'm going to start staining the inside of the boxes first and then staining the entire outside. Now I love how this dye looks, here goes. It's actually even a color reallybeautiful now we're going to dye all the boxes the same here they are all and now just wipe them all down with that paper towel and now that they're done we're going to grab our fall. tower blocks now we're going to need eight of these so I'm going to go ahead and add stain to all the sides and ends of these pieces and let everything sit for a few hours while it dries. go ahead and grab those two gift boxes now the first thing I want to do is go ahead and remove that hanging rope we won't need it for the project so we could take them off and save them for another project but I did want to. a round front on the front of the box, so I'm taking a piece of craft paper and I'm molding it on the top edge of that box to get the shape and then I'm going to cut that shape out. with a pair of scissors now once you have that shape go ahead and fold that piece in half so you have a center point.
Now I wanted my shovel to go down about two inches, so I'm going to mark two inches on the front of the box and then I'm going to take that piece of craft paper folded in half and then I'm going to mark the two inch mark on the folded side. Now I'm just going to make a kind of eyeball and draw a curve from that center mark all the way up. all the way to the corner to make half a tablespoon and then starting at the full end just cut on that line and when you unfold it you'll see that you have an even tablespoon on both sides because you cut it on the fold so just place it on the top of your box and trace that scoop onto your box and this will be the line you cut.
Now we're going to trace this on our second box as well and now both boxes are ready to cut. I'm just using a very sharp utility knife with a new blade and then I'm just going to drag it along that line first and then my second pass should go through it and now we have a nice scoop on the front of the box, repeat that for the other one and here are my two boxes now if you have any Jagged. Edge just follows up with some sandpaper to smooth everything nice and neat. Now we're going to flip them back and we want to add our hook, so I have these peel and stick hooks from the Dollar Tree that I like. to put them in the back and they can be hung from a cloth. now you'll notice that I'm putting them upside down this way they'll catch on to those paint sticks when we add them to the project, so I like to peel them off. the stick part and add just a little bit of hot glue as a backing on that top part and press it towards the corners of the back of each of the boxes that you want to press firmly and make sure the glue is nice and dry and you want do this for both boxes as shown here and now you have hooks on the back so now what I'm going to do is take it out and give it a couple coats of my zinsert123 so I can cover that pattern and design inside and out and my final coat you can use chalk or acrylic paint, but I choose to use a little spray paint for a quick and easy finish on a white satin, okay? those dry ones, let's go ahead and grab our wood pieces, they should be nice and dry now, so what I'm going to do is lay out my pieces with my wood pieces and my paint stir sticks, now the 20 inch pieces are the part top and bottom of your frame and the three 18 inch pieces will be the center of the frame now to determine your spacing is really easy in that first section the width of the spacing is the exact width of one of those paint stir sticks which is nine inches, so once you get that set, that's really the only measurement you need to make the other piece at the end will just line up with the end of that 20 inch stick now to temporarily attach it into place.
I'm using my hot wood glue. You can definitely use wood glue if you want keeping in mind that it takes a little longer to dry and I'm going to glue them in place along the edge of the 20 inch stick at the top once the glue dries. You can flip the whole piece over and then we'll add that other 20 inch piece on the other end by just adding a line of that hot wood glue there and pressing it firmly into place, so now you just want to allow that glue to completely dry and now we can go ahead and start adding our screws so we're going to drill pilot holes in the side and we're going to use a 7 64 inch drill bit and I'm going to drill on this side of each one. one of those pieces of wood so we can connect the centers and here are all our pilot holes, all drilled nicely.
Now we needed to determine what type of screw we are going to use. I decided to use two or two and a half. inch wood screw, both will work and I'm using a number eight size so I'm starting by just hand threading it and then drilling it into place until it's nice and flush with the wood on all sides. These brass tipped wood screws go together really well so you don't need to add any other paint or color to them and I'm okay with that so now we're going to take our paint stir sticks and we're going to attach them together. together the side that we made in dye, which is the side with all the numbers and measurements because we want them to be double thickness and once that is done we are going to place them in the shortest opening but we are not going to place them until our boxes are dry because we want to make sure we get the precise placement, but we're going to be working with the widest section of the frame and this is where we're going to add our chicken wire, so we just want to do it carefully.
Take it out of the package and we're going to cut a piece wide enough to cover that opening of that wide section. Now the width of this chicken wire is perfect for this opening. There were no side adjustments we just had to cut the length and it worked perfect now once we have that piece we'll just straighten it and flatten it and start attaching it to the frame and I'm doing this with my staple gun starting from the top first and then, once we have the top stapled, I'm going to add some staples to this outside side of the frame as well and I'm going to add some staples there just to make sure that we have some stability there and make sure that everything is nice and taut now.
We're also going to add staples to the bottom, but we're not going to add staples to the center yet. We won't do it until we add our paint stirring rods at the end, like I show here, so now what we're going to do. What we're going to do is grab our falling tower blocks, now we're going to duplicate them, so I'm going to stick one on top of the other. Now the purpose of these is to give the wall a little bump so that The chicken wire and those paint stirring sticks will have a little space and we can hook our boxes and we can also pin and add messages to our chicken wire without any interference from the wall, so I'm cutting out that chicken. wire just a little so we can start adding those double stack tower blocks in the corner of our wall piece.
Now we're going to do this on each corner on the back of our frame so it's nice and even. around and here they are all set in place and ready to go, so I'm going to turn it over to the right side and I'm going to start taking measurements of my boxes now that they're nice and dry, so I'm going to go ahead and take my paint stirring sticks and I'm just estimating where I want to place them, so I clip them to the back of each box and space them as evenly as possible. I would love to see them on my shelf and I ended up using three inches down the opening and 12 inches down from the opening to place all my stir sticks and just made a small pencil mark on the inside of the shelf.
So now that I've made that mark, I'm going to flip it over to the back and I'm going to transfer those marks to the back because this back is where you want to stick just the paint stir sticks, so I'm just using my dollar

tree

cutting mat as a little ruler just to make sure everything is nice and even and I want to make a mark on both sides and now we can take our paint stir sticks and we're going to take our wood. hot glue or you can use wood glue and glue this in place.
Now I'm checking the measurements to make sure they are nice and even and I want to do the same with the other paint mixing bar and make sure I staple them in place. after and then once they're all stapled in place, we could go ahead and secure the remaining center portion of that chicken wire so that it's completely secured. Note that some of the edges of the chicken wire may stick out and you may get scratches. or cut So to avoid that, I wanted to cover it and I'm just using some of this thick craft paper that I had on hand and I'm going to hot glue it along the top and bottom raw edges and you can see.
Not only does it cover the raw edges and prevent injuries, but it also gives you a nice clean look with an odd finish, so everything is nice and covered on the top and bottom of the back of your shelf, so now what we are What I'm going to do is go ahead and grab our boxes now. I wanted to give them a fun rustic finish, so I'm going to protect my work surface and I'm going to grab some paints, now the paints I'm going to use. What I will be using today are silver acrylic paint, a little barn red, and a little elephant gray to achieve this look.
Now I'm going to start with the elephant gray and I'm going to start applying that elephant gray along all the edges. I'm doing this really randomly. I'm just dabbing and dragging my brush just to get a nice random worn look. Now, once the elephant gray is applied, I follow right behind it with a little bit of silver. This will give it that color. like galvanized metal undertone with a little bit of shine, now the solid gray gives it a base but the silver just gives it that little touch of galvanized look which I really love now, once that area dries in both colors I'm I mixed some black with my barn red just to get a very deep rust color.
The regular barn red was too bright, so I'm going to darken it with a little black and wet the end of a craft stick. on it and I'm dragging that barn red color along the edges everywhere where I have some of that galvanized metal look. I'm dragging in that barn red color just to make it look like it's actually a deep rust red color and then I'm I'm still going with my brush and applying it with a very dry brush. I'm applying that barn red mix and it gives it that nice faded rustic look that I love and I'm experimenting with these things that I love. what it looks like it really looks like rusty metal and once that's done let it dry completely and now we can go ahead and start working on our boxes so they're nice and dry of the stain and what we want to do is we're going to put the three boxes together and these are the outer boxes now, before I attach them to the two end boxes, what I'm going to do is drill two holes next to each other big enough for a zipper. tie to pass now this will allow you to attach and detach this from the message board shelf so I'm drilling the two holes at the end and now we can go ahead and attach them back together.
I'm using my wood. hot glue but you can definitely use wood glue if you want and I'm going to attach them all together now when you drill the holes in these you want to make sure the holes are on the back of the box and not close. the opening you want to make sure they're on the back of the box and now we can grab our zip ties and of course these zip ties are available at Dollar Tree in a pack of 60 for just a dollar 25 so I'm going To get started, pass one of the zip ties from the back and then back and loop it back through the other hole.
Now this way you have two pieces sticking out the back and this will allow you to attach it to the chicken wire of the message. board and just repeat this for the other side now once you have both pieces there this is what it looks like so let's go ahead and sit it to the side for now and now we're going to work on the drawer inserts of all the boxes now we are going to turn them to the opposite side of wherever by opening a cutout that you have there and what we are going to do is add some label pulls.
Now I'm going to use these little metal tag pulls. I bought these on Amazon and I'll be sure to link them in the description box below and these come with little screws so we want to make sure we apply them on the opposite side of the decorative cut out opening and what I like to do first before. I screw them into place and I like to add a little bit of hot glue to them just to make sure they stay in place while I work with the screws, they have a tendency to move around as you work so the hot glue really helps keep them in place and simply use your drill or screwdriver to drill them.
These are really small screws and require a little effort toget in there, but here are all those little labels attached with the screws now if you want to cover. In that back opening, you definitely can, you could have dyed some of these large craft sticks, cut them to size and then cover them on the inside, that's definitely an option if you want to cover them as well, okay, now let's take our message rack. and now we're going to quickly apply a hanger to the back. Now I'm just using a Dollar Tree boat robot and I'm going to staple one out of three times and then I'm going to staple the other end three times.
Now we have a little bit of slack in the middle and this is where we're going to staple it again three times. Now what this will form is two sides where you can apply a hanger to prevent it from wobbling on the wall. Now once that's all nice and secure, we can go ahead and turn it around and now we can start adding our little boxes and our drawers. Now we're going to place them on the bottom of the chicken wire side of the opening and it's going to sit right on the edge of that frame so you can see it has a little resting place, but we're just going to run those zip ties through the chicken wire. chicken coop and once we've got them over all we have to do is connect the ends and zip tie them in place and this will stay secure to your Vestige board whenever you need them and once they're secure just go ahead and Cut off those little tails and voila, we've got it all. place and now you can just slide your drawers into the little holder and now your boxes should be nice and dry and all we have to do is add them to the little paint stir stick holders that you put on the side, those back hooks that you hook right on top of those and now you have a full shelf, you have your two brackets, your three drawers and your chicken wire for messages.
This is very useful and functional and I think this is something that will be useful or even as a gift now here. It is my fully decorated piece and I love how it turned out. I chose to use a decorated option and farmhouse theme and added a few of my favorite items to accent this piece. Now I love the beautiful color of the wood combined with these fun farmhouse trinkets. and it looks very pretty and bright in my space. I think the drawers are also a very nice touch and can be labeled if you wish. Now these boxes turned out great and can hold all kinds of items and of course for your smaller items. to store it in the drawers.
I added some clothespins to the chicken wire to add more decoration or to also add hanging messages. I hope you all love this as much as I do and give it a try now, another great thing about this piece is that the containers are completely removable and can be used as freestanding planters or as item holders. I really love the rustic finish on these and they look so realistic now that they are ready to be customized with all your favorite decor. a man or even craft items and don't forget that you can also separate the drawers.
Now I think they are so adorable and can be used in so many fun ways. I had a lot of fun creating this project today and I'm doing it. I hope you like the ideas I've shared with you, just let me know how you would use this piece in your space. I really hope everyone is enjoying these

crafts

so far, but I wanted to jump in real quick and let everyone know. You could follow me on all these platforms as she is very crafty, so now let's go straight to the next DIY. Now that this project is a log house style basket, we will need two of these log house dry erase boards from Dollar Tree.
We're going to need one of these natural wood signs from the Dollar Tree, we're going to need some gallon paint stir sticks and I bought them from Home Depot and we're going to need some large cork craft sticks also from Home Depot now that we're going to get started on those stirring sticks gallon paint, let's go ahead and cut those handles off. I did this with my miter saw and this is what you have left and these measure approximately nine inches. Go ahead and unpack them. and put two sticks aside and for the remaining eight we are going to stain them so we need to sand all those numbers and after sanding here they are all ready to go so go ahead and take your house and take your Now we need to cut the width of the sign, the width of the bottom of one of the houses, so I'm going to mark that width at the end and it weighs a little bit, so we're going to go ahead and mark.
That too go ahead and take your ruler, join those two marks together to make a straight line. Now let's grab one of those stir sticks. This will be the width of the basket, so let's mark the end. From the width of that stirring rod or the length of that stirring rod, draw another line and now we will have the shape we need for the bottom of our basket. Now to cut this, it's very easy, we're going to use our utility. blade and I'm going to use a metal ruler just be very careful when cutting them these blades are very sharp just drag them two or three times and it should break and then cut the other side too so we have the perfect size based on our measurements for the bottom of our basket now, once this is done, let's grab a house.
Now I wanted to cover that dry erase board on the side and this is where those craft sticks come from. In play now, of course, you can also use the craft sticks from Dollar Tree, they are a little smaller so you may have to tile them, but both styles will look great on this piece so I'll start by cutting them out. pieces in a vertical board style, so I'm going to start by cutting one along the bottom very evenly and then I'm going to start marking those angles with my pencil and then I'm going to use my ruler to connect those marks now as you start cutting them.
The corners should fit just inside the house and we will repeat this for each of the sticks that come in until they all fit. Now you just want to take them out and place them next to each other and I'm going to use these as a template to make a second set for the other house and once that's done here are both sets so now what's left to do is just glue these on. wood planks inside each of the houses and just Using the hot glue that I have in my glue gun, I'm going to glue them side by side inside the house, just making sure they fit together tightly to avoid gaps and here they are the two houses. with the planks installed and we're going to go ahead and remove those stickers from the back so now we can start putting our basket together and we're going to put one of those houses on the end of that wooden plank that we just cut out now.
I'm using my hot wood glue for this. You can definitely use wood glue as well, so I'm going to put two lines of that wood glue on the bottom of the house and I'm going to place it flush at the end of one of those boards, turn it over. around and place the other house, now you want to make sure that the side that you covered with the wooden sticks is facing outwards on that wooden board and this is what these side supports will look like and now we're just going to take our paint stirring sticks that we cut, we're going to put four on each side and we're just going to space them evenly apart, we're going to add a line of that hot wood glue on each side and then we're going to press them firmly into place and we're going to do this for our four sticks now here are four sticks, all of them. secured on one side, we'll turn it over and repeat the process and here it is all nice and together, let me tell you, this is solid.
I love working with hot wood glue. it's much stronger than standard hot glue and yes you can see I'm throwing this out there it's not going anywhere it's really solid now if you want to reinforce it you can definitely follow up with a staple gun in the front by putting a staple . at the end of each of the sticks you can use a nail gun or small nails on each side too if you want you can also go for the bottom of the houses now I'm just going to do one side of my basket I found out I didn't really need it but I wanted to demonstrate it to you guys so now it's time to dye so I have a small cup of water and another cup that I'm going to use my vintage Waverly wax in. and to thin it out, so I'm just going to put some heavy wax in there and then add a little bit of water, probably about a third of the amount of wax and then mix it really well, now this just helps it spread. the product and it makes it last a little bit longer and I'm going to use my brush to apply it on the inside first we want to go around the bottom, the inside of the boards and the inside of those houses and now is the time to do that. the outside you also want to turn the outside over with the mixture, here it's all nice and covered and don't forget to follow up with a paper towel to remove any excess stain or liquid that may be a residue on your project now. once you had a chance to let it sit and dry, here's what it looks like, it's so beautiful and now it's fun to decorate your piece part time and here it is on display guys.
I love how it turned out. I chose to decorate with some neutral fall flowers, pumpkins, and greenery for these projects, but now you can select any type of decoration you like. I think the little houses were perfect for this project and I love how it all came together, now everyone has to do it. Let me know in the comments what you think about the supplies for this project. I headed to Home Depot and bought a piece of 1 by 2 furring strip, it's about 1.79 and I also bought a 1 by 4 fern strip and this was about 379. We're only going to need about 16 inches of this and I also bought a couple packages of these center craft sticks and these were $48 a package.
Now, to assemble our project, there are a couple of different ways. I'm going to make straight cuts and this is how they will come together in the corners. This is the best and easiest way if you are a beginner, but if you are more advanced, you can definitely cut at a 45 degree angle as shown here. the only difference is that the top and bottom piece will be three inches longer than indicated in the dimensions in the clip below, so let's cut all of our pieces. The two longest pieces will be 18 inches. four we're going to cut four five inch pieces and these are the ones that need to be eight if you're doing 45 degrees and for our 1 by 4 we're going to need two eight inch pieces so we're going to start Assembling one of our frames, I'm going to take two 18-inch pieces and our two five-inch pieces.
Now what we're going to do is sandwich those five-inch pieces between those two 18-inch pieces as shown here. Now you can use the standard one. wood glue or you can use hot wood glue for this project. I'm going to use my hot wood glue for a quick join because I'm going to follow up with screws to make sure they're super secure, so to start attaching them, I'm going to take my hot wood glue and start applying it to one of the ends of the five inch piece and I'll press it into that inside corner. Now I like to press it and hold it for five to ten seconds until it really grabs and then I'm going to repeat this on the other side for the other five inch piece.
Now I love working with hot wood glue, it has a longer working time than standard hot glue so this one really sticks a lot. stronger than standard hot glue, so once those two end pieces are attached, I'm going to add a little more of that hot wood glue to the bottom of the five inch pieces and this will simply join that 18 inch piece together. inches to the bottom and you just want to tighten the entire frame making sure to clean up any hot glue that might ooze out of the seam so here's a frame all put together it's nice and sturdy and that's what it's going to look like so now just take the other pieces of the frame and us.
We're going to repeat the process and here are our two frames, all put together nicely, so now we're just going to take our box of screws and I'm going to join the ends together, so I'm going to use a number. eight two-inch screws for the four corners, now you will need four screws per side. If you're interested in how I put this box together, I have a tutorial on all my favorite tools and supplies that this box includes and we'll just link it in the top right corner of this video so you can watch it overseas, so now we're going to do the What we're going to do: Drill a pilot hole in each of the Now I'm drilling the corners from the outside, which is the quickest and easiest way, but if you have a pocket hole tool or nail gun, feel free to use those too. .
Now we're going to do that in both frames. those corners and once those pilot holes are drilled, we're just going to put in our screwdriver bit and just drill those screws in, but don't overtighten them, just screw them in until they're nice and tight and that's what they're going to look like. They're nice and they're flush with the surface and we're going to do this.for all of our frames and now here are the four frames with the screws on each side, so now what we're going to do is to take one of our frames and we're going to start creating our lattice design, so to do this I'm using these cork craft sticks that I bought at Home Depot and I'm going to place them inside the opening of the frame now to place them.
I'm going to start placing them diagonally. Now I'm watching this. You can use a guide from a grid mat if you want a specific space, but I'm just laying them out and they're about half the size. three quarters of an inch apart, but I'm going to center about eight of those craft sticks and just make sure they're evenly spaced now, once I have them evenly spaced, I'm going to cut out the first one and the last one because they're too long and I'm just going to add a DOIT of my hot wood glue on each end to put it in there and you can use any type of adhesive you prefer we're just going to add the stain to each end and just put it on one at a time keeping the spaces that you established at the beginning, so here are all my diagonals, all nice and safe, so now what we're going to do is Take eight more of those craft sticks and we're going to place them in the opposite diagonal direction across the craft sticks.

crafts

that we just placed to form our lattice design.
Enter our glue and secure them. Now we have our lattice design complete and here it is. what it looks like now to make sure they stay together, I'm going to go in with my staple gun and staple each of those craft sticks to the frame on the back all the way around and this is going to make sure everything stays snug in place so next we're going to take that 1 by 4 piece and this is an eight inch piece that needs to fit perfectly on the bottom of the frame so we can place it on the bottom or the top. the border I prefer to put it on top of the border at the bottom so that it has just this little border at the bottom.
I think it gives it a better look that way, so we're going to adhere it there again. use your wood glue, but I'm going to use my hot wood glue for that instant join because we're also going to follow up with screws, so I'm going to take my wood glue and add it to the edge of my 1 by 4 8 inch board that I have and then We'll just add a nice long bead and then press it into place right along that edge at the bottom. Now we're going to press and hold this until it's stuck. about 10 or 15 seconds and as you can see it's fine and stuck in place.
Now what we're going to do is turn it over, but we're going to need to screw it back into place. Using some two inch number eight screws you can go up to two and a half inches if you want, but two inches will be enough for this shelf, it will hold 10 pounds or even more, so your wood board will be right in line with that. . top edge of the wood at the bottom so you have a visual guide of where you need to drill pilot holes, so what I'm going to do is take my drill bit and drill it down about a quarter inch from the top edge. of that bottom piece of wood, this should go directly into the center of the wood board.
You just want to make sure that when you drill it, you drill down and you shouldn't have any problems on the other side. to put our screwdriver bit in and grab our screw and we're going to start screwing them into place again, just go slowly, take your time and make sure you go right into that wood and you shouldn't have any problems, it goes in very smoothly and you shouldn't have any problems. any problem put two screws in place and now your shelf is nice and secure to the frame piece and now just repeat this for the other frame and now we have two lattice frames to work with, now there are a couple of different ways in which you can Finish these, but I decided to do two different ways to show you all the variations, so for this one I'm going to finish with antique wax first.
Now what I like to do with my old wax is dilute it a little. so I have two small cups, one with water and one that I'm going to put in my old wax. I'm just going to pour a little bit of that wax in there and then pour about a quarter of the amount of water in there and mix and mix. All together now, if you don't have antique wax, you can definitely use traditional dye. I've even seen people use thinned acrylic paint, it's all up to you, so what I'm going to do is take my paint. brush and start applying that wax and start on the inside.
I think the inside has more detail with that crisscross and you have to get into all the tight areas and then once you finish that part of the lattice, definitely follow up with a paper towel to get all the excess liquid and this ensures a nice clean finish and it dries much faster now once you clean it complete this coverage for the entire frame and here is the final look with all the coverage with that old wax on the front and now let it dry for our second frame , we are going to do a different finish.
I decided to use a painted finish for this one. Now for this I'm going to use my chalk paint. You can use acrylic paint. You can use spray paint of any type of paint that you prefer for your project, so again I'm going to start on the inside and I'm going to need to get that paint into all of those cracks and crevices to make sure I have a nice even coverage. around the lattice part and here it is and now fill in the rest of the frame with that chalk paint now here it's all covered and you want this to dry completely so after it sits for a while the piece is nice and dry and What I decided to do is give it a slight worn look.
To do this, I'm taking some black acrylic paint to do this. Now the distressing is totally optional, you really don't have to do it if you don't like it. but I like to give it a little bit of dimension, so what I like to do is take one of my craft sticks and I'll dip it in the paint and pat the excess paint off until you have a very, very light layer on the craft. . stick and then I like to drag it along the edges of the frame. I think this gives it the perfect amount of angst, not too much, not too little, just the perfect amount to not overdo it and I'm going to do this all the way. around the frame just do it until your heart's content foreign so once I added the distressing to my liking let this dry completely and here are my two frames all nice and dry.
I love both finishes and love them. the options, so now what we're going to do is add its hanger. Now there are a couple of different hangers you can choose from. You can add some D rings. These are my favorite types of hangers. I get them from Amazon I will link them in the description box below or you can use these Sawtooth picture hangers either way, you want to use two on the back corners of your frame or you can just use two pieces of jute, one you definitely want to use two. To make sure your shelf stays balanced now, once you've added the hanger of your choice, what I also decided to do is add one of these screw hooks to the top center.
I bought this box on Amazon, they are also available at any hardware store, so what? I decided to use a 7 8 inch black hook and what I'm going to do with these is screw them into the top center of the frame so I can add accessories to my shelf that aren't necessary. drill a pilot hole just press that screw right in the center to start turning and it will easily go into that wood now once its on the nice stained one just repeat the process for the white and now both shelves have their hooks installed . and now it's time to move on to the fun part of decorating and here is the white shelf, all decorated in a sweet farmhouse theme.
Now I added a wreath on the hook along with some of my other DIY trinkets to the shelf make sure to link how to make them in the description box below now. I really love this style, but since the holidays are on the way, how about we turn it into a beautiful Christmas theme? Now just change a few things up with some Christmas decorations. It totally changes the look and you didn't even have to remove your shelf now, this is definitely one you will have to make for yourself or for holiday gifts now for the rich stained brown shelf.
I added some fall decor items now this option is. It is very warm and cozy and fits perfectly into a fall theme. Now I placed a small pumpkin starter on top and a fall arrangement on the shelf and I think this gives me all those pumpkin spice vibes. Now you can also use it as a small display for hanging plants now. I just used some macrame cord from the Dollar Tree to make a hanger and added a flat of my choice to give it a simple but elegant look. Now this is a really fun option for real or fake plants.
A different version of this is to use it in the bathroom as a towel hook and shelf. Now this hook is useful for small hand towels and has room at the bottom for extras. I hope you like this wood project today and working with it. Wooden power tools are so much fun and open up a new world of crafting and creating. I really hope you try this fun project now. This project is a set of planters on wooden supports. Now let's start with these. three sets of bowls from Dollar Tree and these and three pieces of these square wooden planks from Dollar Tree, okay, go ahead and grab your bowls, we're going to take that sticker off the outside and what I decided to do was leave. go ahead and I wanted to paint two of the bowls and leave one of the bowls white so what I'm going to do is take it out and give it a couple of coats of this Krylon satin black spray paint and you want to allow it. to dry completely now I also wanted to use some leftover wood for the plant supports and this was left over one by two pieces that I had on hand and I just cut them in different sizes at three, six and nine inches each now yes If you don't have one-by-two scraps, you can use any wood or you can use a double layer of rotating tower blocks from the Dollar Tree to build your own stands of your choice.
We will also need three pieces of these woods. squares from the Dollar Tree also for the base. Now these are going to be the supports for each of those pieces of wood, so first of all I need to find the center, so I'm going to go ahead and mark the center with a dot. in the center and you really only need to find the center of one, what I'm going to do is stack all of these on top of each other and go ahead and glue them together because We'll be drilling a hole in the center, so you only need to mark one, like this that I'm going to go ahead and take my drill and drill right in the center where we marked that way.
We can secure our stand with screws to our base. The foreign planks here have their hole drilled right in the center, so now what I'm going to do is take each of my little pieces of wood and I'm going to temporarily adhere them together. that hole with a little bit of my hot wood glue, you can definitely use wood glue too if you want, now that this is nice and secure here, I'm going to repeat this for the other two supports as well, just gluing those support pieces together. Right over that hole in the center now, once it dries and everything is secure, what I'm going to do is go back in with my drill through the same hole in the bottom, this time going into the wood. support, this will create a nice pilot hole so we can add screws through the bottom and into the wood to hold our plant supports.
Now once that's all done we're going to get our screws and what I decided to use is a number six one inch wood screw for this project so I'm going to go ahead and apply the screws to the bottom and screw them in until they're flush. flush at the bottom of that little base piece. and we're going to repeat this for all of them and once they're done we can go ahead and dye them. Now you can use traditional dye, but today I'm using my Waverly Antique Wax, it's so much quicker and easier. to continue, so I'm going to do this so we can do a real quick job, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and coat the foundation all over.
You can use a brush or you can use a cloth, it's all up to you now, once you have applied the base coat you should follow up with a paper towel to wipe off the excess. Now this is very important, not only does it allow it to dry faster, but it is also easier to apply. long term, so we're going to go around all the edges and all the supports of all of our pieces with the same process and here they are all. I didn't dye the bottom or the top, that's totally optional, but you want to let them dry before moving on to the next step.
Well, here are all my wooden supports, all nice and dry and ready to go. Now forso my bowls should also be dry so I have my two black ones and my white here and first of all I'm going to take my drill and I'm going to drill a hole in the center of the bottom of each of those bowls and you can remove that little white background sticker, but I just punched it out. I won't see it anyway, but you can definitely remove it if you want. Now we're going to place the bowls on top of each stand, so apply a little more of that glue there and center it.
The hole where you drilled in the bottom of your bowl you want to do this for all your brackets as shown here now once it dries go back in with your drill and then drill so you can have a nice pilot hole for your screw. get in now. I'm going to add the same one inch screw on top, but I found that adding a washer on that screw helps the support a little more, so if you go ahead and do this, just go ahead and add. a wash or two will just give it a lot more support but this works with the glue and screw so here are all my pieces all pretty together and ready to go so all you have to do now is decorate and here.
All of my plant stands are on display and they look so amazing in this arrangement. Now for this option I just used a Greenery ball from Ikea inside for a sweet, neutral look and I really love the color of the antique wax as it looks great. on these wood cuts and it really complements the black and white color very well, of course this is a beautiful way to decorate them, but if you love the bohemian style and succulents, you should check out this Arrangement option now. It's a great way to use up those Dollar Tree succulents.
Now all you have to do is combine them with other green plants for a very relaxing display. Now everyone should let me know what they think about this project in the comments below. it's a wooden planter we're going to need two of these 12 inch wooden rounds from the Dollar Tree and we're going to need some spinning tower blocks from the Dollar Tree now we're going to start working with our wooden rounds. For this project now we're going to need two of them, but one we're going to keep whole and the other what we're going to do is finish by cutting it in half so you can go ahead and remove it all. of those labels and then we're going to take our ruler and divide it evenly in half in the center which is at the six inch mark and I'm going to go ahead and make a mark there now to cut them out, it's really easy I'm just using a utility knife , you can get them at Dollar Tree and they are really

cheap

.
You only have to drag it two or three times and it easily splits this thin wood down the center. It's very easy to do now that we have our half piece. I'm going to go ahead and take my full circle again. I want to make sure the half mark is the exact cut I would like for my planter. I don't need to cut it anymore, everything looks exactly like me. I like it, so I'm going to move on to the next step. Now what we're going to do is grab those falling tower blocks. Now what we want to do is align the bottom edge of the circle with the falling tower. blocks as shown here now to adhere them.
I'm going to use my hot wood glue, but you can definitely use wood glue if you want. When you apply them, you just want to make sure you wipe off any excess hot glue that oozes out of the sew and line it up exactly along that edge as close as possible. You'll start on each side and work your way to the center and here it is all applied now, as you see when I got to the center. a little gap, but this is at the bottom of the pot, you'll never notice it's there and none of your filler will fall out, so I'm taking my big wood and then putting it right at the bottom of my half pot just to making sure everything fits and everything is ready so I'm going to start by removing that hanger piece from the big one because I'm going to reuse it and then I'm going to use my old wax to dye them now you're definitely done.
You can use a traditional dye if you wish. Now you can apply this old wax with a brush or cloth. All up to you. You just want to make sure you wipe off any excess after applying the stain. I'm doing the inside of my planter here now, this is totally optional but I just wanted a fully finished look, don't put it on the edge of the tower block that it falls off, you just want the inside and now for the bigger round. I'm going to stain this entire piece leaving the bottom edge where the middle of the piece will be attached unstained, so it will be a good adhesion point for the hot glue now, as you can see, it will line up along that edge, it will looks great so now we can go ahead and adhere that now I'm just going to apply a generous amount of that hot wood glue or you can use wood glue and adhere it in place and just put it in place and make sure everything goes together.
Align it nice and evenly along the edges Now, once it's in place, all you have to do now is stain the front and the tower blocks that fall on the outside of your hanging planter and here it is all pretty and dyed and then once it dries I just apply your hanger and then I can decorate and this piece is ready to go and here you have it, a wall planter decorated with a variety of beautiful succulents. I love this piece especially because it is solid wood and there are so many ways to use it now, although now I used it for my artificial plants, you can use it for organizing, crafts, mail or any option you like, everyone should let me know in the comments What would you use this piece for in your home?
