Rebuilding A Wrecked 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Part 10

Rubicon and as you saw in the previous video, we finally have this sucker. Painted it looks absolutely amazing but it is far from perfect because they are stressed throughout the entire paint job and mainly in this area, here we have a couple of uneven patches that we are actually going to try to save without having to repaint . The first thing we want to do is get out some sandpaper to color, send this entire area, then break out the buffer and try to make it smooth, guys, so look at this, we have good news and we continue our color steps. sanding and we actually got this nice flat fender it looks really good and this was our worst panel which means we can save everything else so before we break the shock I want to go ahead and sand this whole side and then do it we'll break and start making some glass, so finally we completely wet sand it.

It took a while, but we had to follow all the steps: 1500, 2000 to 2500 and even 3000 grit, but as you can see we got the perfect finish. We were able to get all the orange peel and all the trash out, which is a good sign because we're going to be able to save this painting. Now all we have to do is throw away some plastic. over that interior, put this on the shock and start polishing and make this look almost OEM, damn son, so the first panel we cut there, that quarter panel, turned out absolutely amazing, almost OEM finish, a

of the art of the swirls that we will obtain. get rid of later, sure, oh yeah, that will be the last step after polishing everything, but it was actually polished quickly, it's not good to smooth them out.

The steps we took are definitely paying off right now, but what are you doing with the hinges? another one, oh I just want to go ahead and take them off because this buffer will polish them if I'm not careful enough and I don't want the compound to get stuck on them because then they'll be rasuu/hard to get out. But right now, what do you say? Let's keep polishing, yeah, let's keep polishing and then we'll probably move on to the swirl mark remover later. Alright guys, we just completely polished this whole side. It looks absolutely amazing, we have one more. next step and that's actually a swirl mark removed from this whole side, we've got something right here that was crushed by the lift, but there's still some good stuff in there and we've got our finishing pad on the bumper, a soft pad and nice so let's go ahead and actually swirl mark remove this whole side and that should be it guys check that out we finally got Marc to remove this dirt and it looks really good but we were really late because it took a long time to do it, but we're I'll catch them tomorrow morning, okay, so it's the next state here and look, it looks absolutely incredible, it looks like glass just like we wanted it, but right now we're going to take this sucker outside. a quick wash that way this residue doesn't dry on us and then it will be the moment of truth we will probably test the bed and that will just tell us if we need more paint buddy okay so we quickly remove it. thing in the sunlight just to make sure we get rid of all the swirls and all the scratches and look at that man, he looks absolutely amazing.

I think it's time to wash it and then throw it on that bed, bring yours, man, she is. It looks good, nice and bright, everything is sharp, now let's slap that

I think that's the good thing, this is perfect right here, maybe I'll stop just a little bit. a little bit, although oh yeah, on this, yeah, come on, we had three people last time, this time we're going to do it with two. The spot weld inside this rail broke on us now we have to weld it back into place.

There's really no way to get up here with the soldering iron, so we're thinking about drilling a hole right along that rail while I can tell there are a couple of holes right there, so I think we can live with another hole in it, oh yeah, definitely, so hold on, that's the only way we can put this sucker back on by soldering it because there's just no way under there exactly. Yes, let's go ahead, drill a hole, weld it up and throw this bed on hot potatoes. It is on fire. Be careful, I think it has melted my skin a little, but I have the maintenance dates ready to go.

Let's throw it there. Do it, damn, it's like it's hard right there, it's pretty heavy, but it was a lot easier to put it on than it was to take it, oh yeah, it's definitely a lot easier, but check that combination isn't perfect or what. Dude, even though it's pretty close to me, I think it's perfect, honestly, yeah, there are some scratches, ooh, that they'll probably try to polish out, but other than that, dude, look, our paint job is smoother than this one, almost oh , that's not good, we may have it. to smooth it out isn't a big deal, I mean, we have to polish it because there are some scratches right here, so we'll probably just polish it on the surface, but hey, it looks a lot better than that, man, that's what I was going to say. it looks a lot different with the bed on it looks a lot better it actually looks like a truck because without the bed man we got a little used to it you said a flatbed style look but it was getting a little weird for us Oh yeah, buddy, come on. go back go back to the spotlight, don't you see what it looks like in the sunlight, okay, let's put some of these sun rays on this thing, okay, that's good, Dave, we're okay, we don't have it. to not paint more, there may be a slight variation because it's a new clear coat versus an old clear coat, but there's definitely no need to repaint, but I actually saw something here.

I saw a little dent in our tailgate right there. Oh hell, I didn't even know, oh my god, that sucks, so we're probably in the paint, unless you don't want to bet you run it, you want to run it like the Dirt Max, I mean, the Duramax, you know, It gives a little more character to the bag. I don't know, we'll probably do it a little later, maybe we'll take it out with some dent lists, you know, maybe it's a shill business, whatever, there's a little crease, so if you do it. I want to perfect it, you'll probably have to paint it, but other than that, no, this is starting to come together, buddy, yeah, it looks great, now it's time to secure that bed.

The bed is finally nice and secured right now. I had to line it with all that good stuff, yeah, I had to make sure it has the perfect gap on both sides and it's all 100%. Oh, let's see if that rear line works because we fixed those cables that were kind of chewed up. off and torn, so look, I'm about to cut it, see that, so I remember what this was, say it didn't work, go ahead and smash that, oh yes, sir, that looks sick, how sick do these things look . I love how that red. it just goes around like a halo or something, taillight, taillight, halo 2, halo, halo, there's really no need for parts, tell Jeep they outdid it with these guys, they look great, but right now , what do you want to do?

Either polish this bed or we can start putting the doors together or we can go to the dealership, they have some parts for us, tons of options. I say let's go ahead and start putting those doors together oh my gosh but we have most of the door assembled it ships for this handle this thing comes off right away well this handle is together it's just that little piece that it really goes here, we're missing it and that's what keeps everything in place, but yeah, so we have to buy it. once we go to the dealership but man it worked fine it works fine the window goes up and down and we have a little thing on the window though let me go ahead and roll it up yeah I need to turn it on put it on that. power sir, there is power, I can control it from up there too, did you know that, oh man, that's deep right there, what you wanna do, throw the buffer on it, man, I'll take it out with a buffer, no problem, but right now?

Let's go ahead and jump over this front door and see if we can get it off guys, so we finally put both doors back together as they look absolutely amazing except for a few miscellaneous pieces we're missing, like this little cover here. that actually holds the door candle because as you can see, I can take that suction cup off and call someone right now. It is a Bluetooth door. Convenient Bluetooth. You can do this so that no one can steal your car. Maybe you take out the four door handles and put them on. your little bag and go, but we're missing a beer or two, we thought it would come with our new door, but it didn't, so we're going to have to order a few miscellaneous pieces, but other than that, what?

Do you want to move forward? Replace this antenna. We need to have some radio. We're stuck in traffic while doing our first test drive. That's what we're going to do. Actually, right where you are. I'm a little afraid of having some rock fragments in this area, they don't want us to probably put a fender on it just temporarily and then get rid of them because we're not going to use them, yeah. We also have to get our windshield wipers on because you never know, you might hit some mud and block the windshield exactly, so let's go ahead and take care of these little things, let's do it, oh my goodness, this is starting to look easy.

First of all, deep down, it looks pretty good, but it won't get stuck for long. Random LED lights and everything is working fine right now. We're actually going to go ahead and put the hardtop on and I'm not sure if we'll do that. do it for our test drive. I will say I don't know if we're going to do it for our test drive tonight because it's going to be dark or maybe let's see what, see what we come up with with a song that I was doing well so we finally put the hardtop on and it looks amazing.

We finally got this to the original Rubicon spec and it has come a long way. Let's go to the damaged side. Why are we looking at the OEM side here? I know we didn't do anything on that side, man this looks original. I gotta say this side probably looks better than that side, oh yeah, after that buffing and buffing and everything, we're definitely going to like polish the whole Jeep, buddy. so it shines and yeah, yeah, exactly, we'll give it a nice little detail all over, but we put all the fenders on so the paint doesn't chip off, let's walk over here.

I noticed one thing about the original painting and thought. We had a little discoloration on that side, but look at this, this here is a piece of plastic and this here is a yeah, you can definitely see it's a little bit darker. I'll know if the camera can capture us since the Sun is there. coming down, but we thought ours was a little off, but that's how it is around here, look what the bed here is. I noticed the bed looks lighter than the side panel, anyone on camera? Yes, it definitely looks like that. that on the camera, I'm just guessing that's how the body panels curve and stuff like that, we thought we had a little problem but that's exactly what the OEM side is like so don't worry but we're going to fix some .

Little things from the dealership like this glass, you may have noticed that it's actually broken and plus we're not doing a test drive until we put our seat belts on so we'll probably catch them tomorrow morning. It's the next day, we go ahead and put the top down that way we get better visibility because we're installing our seat belts, these suckers were rebuilt for a refurbished safety system, they rebuild the seat belts and airbag modules, but we're just revealing our seat belts because this Jeep should reset, so let's go ahead and open these suckers, throw them out and hopefully take our first test drive, so check this out guys, we finally have both seat belts on, we have all the trimmings on that seat belt on that side.

On this side we're missing that piece there because it's all bent and warped, so we're going to go pick up a new one at the dealership right now, oh yeah, and we'll go ahead and change the clips on this. airbag, so it should be fine there and we also put the airbag inSeeds, even though it's broken, we just want the light to go out and our seat belts to work properly, so hopefully we can go ahead and get this thing going. and all the lights cut out and hit the road, yes sir, and before we actually turn it on, let's go ahead, put that hardtop over there like that, we can shoot straight from the dealership, let's get it all done guys, we're ready to start. but before we launch we have to take all the safety precautions, let's check all the turn signals, yeah, go ahead.yo a little thumbs up okay left right let's check the rear right quick I know our headlights work and the light rear started working left turn signal yes sir right turn signal oh man I wish you guys liked a little orange halo that would be nice cute but that doesn't matter let's hit the road here okay here ok, everything is fine there is an airbag light off or the airbag light is still on no, it went off.

It's nice to start the backlight it's off this thing is really quiet and I can't even hear it working right now no it's nice and quiet oh I could do it right and we're on the first test drive when we drove it home as a couple, yeah, they didn't care, they didn't move a couple of feet forward. but I mean there was no real serious damage to the frame, there was just some damage to the tub, so I don't think it has anything to do with the alignment, nothing buddy, I'm about to see on this high speed, see how this direction would work and we.

You'll sit down, we'll send you straight to the highway, so we'll head to the dealership. You have to get out on the highway and so far it's smoother. I can soften. The manual is loaded. I wonder if that's stock, it's probably like the highest model there and also this front camera which is definitely sick. I wonder if we can do that. I plug it in, just plug it in and see if it works, I mean. We have that super high quality camera, so I think it would be awesome if you knew off-road or traffic. You know, let's walk to the back. They all have their different little characters on the back. Some of them.
