Samsung Galaxy S21 FE vs S20 FE Camera Comparison (Both on One UI 4.0, Android 12)

Apr 03, 2024
How is it here? Welcome back to another

camera

comparison

video. Maybe you have the

galaxy

s20 fe and are thinking about upgrading to the new

galaxy

s21 fe that just came out, but you're not sure if you'll get one. kind of performance gains in the

camera

department, that's why I'm making this

comparison

. I have the s20 fe and s21 fe here and hardware wise they are pretty much the same phone, you have the same triple camera setup on the back. 12-megapixel main sensor, eight-megapixel telephoto lens, three-times optical zoom lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-angle camera. You've got the same selfie shooter on the front, so the main real difference hardware-wise is the chipset.

You have a snapdragon triple eight in s21. fe and you have the snapdragon 865 on the s20 fe so we'll see if the image processing differs enough between these two phones to really make a difference because they share the same camera sensors so I've always personally thought that the s20 fv actually had the most natural looking color tones of the entire

samsung

galaxy phone line, it also has less overexposure and better contrast photos, which is why i personally like the one on the s20 fe, let's see if the s21 fe It moves away from that and is more in line with the rest of Samsung's typical image processing or not and that's why, as I always do, I'll show you a bunch of photos and videos in good and low light conditions to help you decide.

Which of these two camera systems is best for you and if upgrading to the new S210 FE will make any sense for you, take a look at all the photos and videos and let me know what you think. rare video test on the galaxy s20 fe and s21 fe as you can see they are

both

recording from the rear cameras and this is at 4k 30 frames per second with the ultra wide angle camera to start here on each so just Scroll here to give an idea of how they look side by side in this particular environment.

You can see all the greens and blues here, so look to see if you notice any kind of difference in color reproduction. Let's go ahead and move forward. on the main lens now, so on the s20 and s21 right there and let's go ahead and just do a pan with these main cameras, you feel what it looks like here side by side as well and then we'll go ahead and pan over here to right and we'll try the zoom on that tower, we're going to do a three times telephoto zoom here on the s20 and the same thing here on the s21, so it's a three times optical zoom on each and then let's go ahead and move on to see if we go. at a real maximum of 12 times on the s20 and we should do the same here on the s21 fe so that there is the maximum digital zoom on each.

Let's try to frame things here and indeed the s20 seems to be a bit more focused. Honestly, let's go ahead and back up so there's once in each one and let's go ahead and try autofocus in post with the s21st so you can focus up and away and lock focus again and once again, very snappy. The focus of the s20 should be the same here with the s21 and it seems to be the same so it's also quite fast and agile here and once again with the s21 fe as well so let's go ahead and test the stabilization going down the stairs here so you can see what the stabilization looks like here, side by side, in 4k and then we'll go ahead and jog to try to emphasize that stabilization here a little bit and we'll stop here and pan over to that sun so you can see how it looks. see stabilization. the exposure handles that really bright afternoon light you're welcome so this will be a front camera test on the galaxy s20 fe and s21 fe as you can see they are

both

recording from the front cameras and this is at their resolutions maxims. and frame rates here, so it's 4k, 60 frames per second on each and in 4k, 30 or 60 frames, neither of these front cameras are stabilized, so you'll see a much wider field of view than you can access more into the frame because there's no cropping because there's no stabilization here, so I'm just going to pan so you can see what it looks like here.
I'm in even light, so there's no bright light on them right now, so they should be producing some of the best possible images they can, but as I move out into the brighter light, you can see what's starting to happen. make more shadows on my face and especially if I move this way now, where the sun will be directly behind me. Of course the background will be washed out, but you can see what it does to the exposure in that kind of light and since they're not stabilized, I'll start walking around so you can see what I'm talking about.
It should look a lot more shaky right now without that stabilization so I'll be back with some 1080p images that should be more stabilized here for everyone so now I'm back to 1080p 60 frames per second and these images should stabilize if you notice . There's probably more cropping in the footage at this point so you can fit less into the frame. We're going to crop it for that stabilization here, so I just want to give you some 1080p footage, this is at 60 frames so you can see what it looks like here. a little more stabilized but also paint around so you can feel how they look here side by side in full hd again signs behind me.
I'm going to zoom in a little more than normal and we'll pan this way. and we'll walk around so you can see that stabilization in action and what it looks like here, side by side, whether they're both evenly stabilized or not, but again 1080p footage at 60 frames per second from both front cameras on the s20 and s21 fe Okay, so here is a low light video test on the galaxy s21 fe and s20 fe. This is the ultra wide angle lens on each one at 4k 30 frames per second here to start, so I'm just going to pan over here so you can I can see what this looks like here, next to each of these ultra wide angle cameras. , same camera sensor here, same ultra wide angle lens on each one, see if you can spot any difference right now, so let's hit the main lens, I need a touch there. on the s21 and another one here on the s20 so there you have the same main cameras as well and I'll scroll again so you can see how they look side by side and how they look for some reason that's when fv turns on . that bright street that lights up a little bit more than s20 is, but overall it's not too bad in each one here and we're going to move in this direction and start walking towards that stabilization and, as I always do, walk towards a more difficult or darker lighting situation clearly.
Those are some bright lights so you can see what these cameras do in some pretty optimal lighting conditions and we'll see how they do it and much more difficult lighting here as you get around the corner there will be a lot more. darker and it already is and you can see on both phones that they are trying to brighten things a little bit more than they are now, the s21 at least in the viewfinder it looks like you are trying to lighten the scene a little bit more, a little more noise there because of that and going up into the night sky, it's a little cloudy tonight and there's always some light pollution here, a little bit darker or clearly a lot darker, at least in the viewfinder of the s20 than s21 there and here is a more mixed lighting situation in this alley, it is darker with some decorative lights there so you can see how these cameras handle this type of lighting situation so there is a 4k low light test on the s21 and s20 fe well here is the low light test of the galaxy s 21 fe and s20 fe front cameras and this is at 4k 30 frames per second from the front cameras you can see there is a pretty decent wide field of light.
See here, you can put a good amount in the frame right now because there's no stabilization in 4k, there's no stabilization in 4k30 or 4k60 here on the front cameras to get that stabilization, you have to lower the resolution here to Full HD or 1080p. So I'm going to pat it down so you can see what this looks like side by side in 4k and I'll come back here at 1080p and we'll do some stabilization tests. Well, we're back in Full HD 1080p. 30 frames per second here, it could go up to 60 frames, but it would be a lot darker in this situation, but you'll also notice more clipping right now at 1080p because there's that electronic stabilization that crops out for that stabilization and we'll look at it so you can see what it looks like here in 1080p and we'll start walking around to test that stabilization so you can see what it looks like here with some movement next to each other and as I always do, I'll move to a slightly more difficult lighting situation or more darker here than what you saw back there, obviously, they're pretty ideal lights around.
I also have a source here to my right, so we tested the microphones to see how they handle that background noise and me. I'll stop here and pan around so you can see how these front cameras work on a bunch of those bright street lights. It's not too bad overall and maybe that's when I'll turn it off a little more than the s20, but it's pretty tough. lighting there and we'll go back to this darker area so you can see what it looks like here in this side by side lighting situation and it looks like at least in the viewfinder the s21 is brightening things up a little bit brighter than the s20 just like it did on the rear cameras, but that will be enough for this camera comparison.
Let me know what you think about the s21 versus the s20 fe. Did you notice any kind of difference here? They are both wearing the exact same thing. Camera hardware sensors all on the back of the front as well as the main difference again: snapdragon triple eight chipset on the s21 fv snapdragon 865 on the s20 so image processing may have been a little different and my quick opinion is that more or less uh for photos I still like the s20 as I said in my introduction. I think it has more natural colors most of the time, it has less overexposure, and it has a little more contrast, so it's easier on the eyes in terms of image processing. on the s20 over the s21, I think a lot of photos on the s21 are overexposed, you are losing some details now you can get them back or you can try at least in pro mode to tone down below in that exposure, but if I like to run, aim and shoot, I would still recommend the s20, that's just my personal preference when it comes to video, they both look pretty similar during the day, but as you see here, in low light the s21 is trying to brighten things up more. turn it up a little bit more so you can get back into pro mode, tone it down, but if you're going to go ahead and point and shoot in full auto, that's what you're going to see, you're going to see more. noise because of that, but some people may prefer that because they can actually see more, some people may prefer the slightly darker look of the s20 fe because it looks more like night, but that's just my quick assessment, but the bottom line It's for me if I have the s20, I don't feel obligated to need to upgrade to the s21 just for the cameras or even the performance of the phone itself.
I don't think you'll get much more of a performance boost from the triple eight than you would from the a65. If you're just doing normal everyday tasks, that's my two cents on this camera comparison and what I think about the s21 over the uh and between the s20 fe, but if you have any other questions or comments, please leave them below. I'll try to answer what I can as always thanks for watching.
