this band what the hell would they call prais like the brain was on? drummer Bernie W was some kind of spin-off band and the lights went out and there were like 10,000 people in this tent and the lights went out and they were waiting for the band and I heard this guy say what and then someone else on the other side yelled yeah and then someone else yelled, "Okay, dude," I got goosebumps and it was like right when it was, I think it was right after the Rick James sketch had already blown up and I saw how big it was.

It was this

show

. I went on like I couldn't, I couldn't believe it and it was like the comedians were telling me, man, that

show

you're on is blowing up. I did a gig in college and let's say it came on at like 10: or something like that on Comedy Central and his show was at 9:30 like they were doing a show trying to do a 10:00 hour like 5 or 10 half the crowd would just get up and leave and he would say, you know, thinking what? I said, well, let's go see Chappelle's show. I don't know if anything gets that big again with all this medicine. but it was like, um, when everyone mentions, you know, Rick James won and all that, I'll tell you this, the lawn order sketch I was on in the first cut, I think Comedy Central thought it was too dark, oh God.

God, it was like it was an Oscar-winning CU movie, it was hilarious and then it was like when the

white

guy was in prison at the end, the way they did it and cut to Dave laughing on the golf course, it wasn't funny. it was like this is what you do to us it was like Wow and then Comic Center like oh you know, we uh we thought there's a different ending, they like it oh bring it back a little bit, but there was one that was also something else. I remember, uh, they used to edit it right down the street from where I lived and I remember Neil Brennan Neil saying, you've got to come see this and I saw them Rick James sketch before anyone else and I remember laughing.

I worked my ass off and there came a point where I stopped laughing and I was like, "This is like I've never seen anything like that in my life, um, yeah, so that was probably the uh, the first kind of still photo, like one of the coolest." things I have to be on I met Charlie Murphy Charlie Murphy yeah may he rest in peace he's up there too we have him up there in the corner and oh yeah yeah oh man the stories that were with that guy yeah he had oh my god his stories he had endless, he told this story once and they were all things from the 80s, it would be like this, I was at this party, it was me, Sugar Ray Leonard and punky rooster, right, he just said, he said, what, what a party is.

That's right, it was just all these '80s icons, right, and he was talking about Sugaray Leonard being drunk, talking about how fast he could throw punches at your ribs without hitting you, and he said these

white

guys were letting him do it. He was drunk and kept hitting him and they would like to bend him in half and he was crying and laughing and telling him and I was asking him why they would do it. I don't know, um, that's the best one I can say, um, so that's the fun one. The thing about Chappelle when you look at Chappelle now you'll see him again you'll see you'll see Joe Rog you'll see Neil Brenon you'll see all these people who have become icons in their own right Right now, yeah, Dave gave me one of the best talks of encouragement that I have received.
I thought it was funny because I'm older than Dave, but Dave started so young. I always look at him like an older brother, right? He was doing something with the salesman, you know, I got off the stage and he was sitting on the stairs, luckily I didn't know he was there. At that point in my career, I would have been intimidated. Someone that big was looking at me and you remember him saying it's like, man, your point of view was so dumb, man, and he's like, "It's going to, but it's going to take you a lot longer to get there, but when you do, you're going to hit strong and I, my friend, held on.
That, for like seven years on the road, Dave thinks I'm funny Dave thinks I'm funny, although yeah, he was right, that's right, yeah, it's definitely Bill Bird Man for joining us. Okay, thanks for inviting them. Everyone was friendly. I got nervous like you guys, let's not leave, why don't we leave, why you know why you know why this isn't over yet, so leave. I have to be honest with you. Listen. I listened to One Clip and turned it off after 8 seconds, what clip was it, someone said something like well you know, sometimes, sometimes, whatever I was talking about, and I just heard you say, why what would you do that?
Just saying oh, it's going to be this, no, because Larry King always says the best question is why because people say and I'm really curious. I wonder why it's always the best question. That's better, yes, it's better. Why you why not. That was not the reading. go back and look at some of the others it was like the subtext was why would you do so well it's the same it depends on what it is no it's not but I had a good time thank you hey there's my insecurity I hope you get me back would love to know what's there a lot of people I know that hold you in very high regard but older young comedians I like Pete Davidson always talks about you all the time Ricky J like oh yeah Pete I remember that uh Pete was another guy that had that vibe he was simply memorable.
I met him, he was like 12 13 years old and he was already as tall as me and I remember that years later he started doing stany, four years later he says he. No I don't know if you remember, I just remember saying Atlantic City, you were there with your mom, so okay, how many times are we going to finish this? I think it's okay. Thank you so much.
